Places to stay in Moycullen
Beautifully restored Pre-Famine cottage. Listed on The Financial Times as a tranquil escape from the bustle of modern life. Rural setting surrounded by lacy stone walls, secluded gardens, and still on the outskirts of the cultural city of Galway.
Riding stables across the road and 9 hole golf course and driving range 1/2 mile away
  • One of our favorite spots. Can't beat the ambiance!!! Absolutely stunning!!

  • This is a unique place to stay that you will remember as a highlight of your trip. The host is friendly, quick to respond and goes out of his way to make you comfortable. He even baked a tasty loaf of gluten free bread for me. The cottage itself is exceptionally cozy and charming. Our visit coincided with miserable weather but that just added to the allure of sitting by the fire with a good book. In fact, the only downside of staying here is that you might not want to venture out to sightsee. The cottage is also located outside of town in a beautiful "secret" garden, so you have to drive to restaurants. That was only a small minus given the peaceful setting. The pictures can't possibly capture the quaintness of the place.

    Jackie2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • If this space is available book it. Narrow road there but worth it! Would gladly make the trip again!

  • The cottage is so quaint and pretty. The thatched roof and little stream outside made it picture book gorgeous. Loved the traditional rustic feel inside. Sitting by the open fire on a cold afternoon was a real treat. The bed was comfortable. Getting in to Galway city centre was very easy by taxi. We had a lovely stay. For longer next time!

  • Unique and special space. Authentic Irish cottage filled with good energy, nostalgia, and charm. Very kind and helpful hosts. We loved our time here and will remember it for years to come.

  • We had a lovely stay here, such a beautiful quaint and cozy cottage we almost didn’t want to leave! The homemade bread was delicious and it had everything else we needed :) it was perfect for a romantic getaway, very relaxing and homey. Would definitely recommend anyone stay here although a car would be helpful.

  • If you want a private peaceful and idyllic break in a traditional style Irish cottage I could not recommend enough. Thanks again. We loved it

  • Jane was particularly helpful and knowledgeable on the local area. She was really flexible on arrival times and access too.

  • We've had a wonderful stay at Jane's! She is an adorable person, very positive, smiling, mellow, and so helpful. As for the place, it's really clean, tidy and warm and we appreciated all pieces of it; except maybe the bathroom, which is very clean, convenient and nice too, but shared with another guests' room. But in all honesty, that is nothing a drawback when compared to how great the place is overall, and the good time you'll have with Jane! It still is well worth 6 stars out of 5 :)

    Frédérique2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice spacious room for a family. Breakfast corner well equipped. And a small flambé in the evening very pleasant. A good time at Jane adorable host.

    Agnès2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jane's place was really adorable! A huge window in each room where you can look into the beautiful green forest that borders directly on Janes accommodation. By car you can park directly in the yard. The driveway is very easy to overlook, but is located directly on the road. Jane recommended great places to eat, which we were very grateful for as we arrived later in the evening. Would definitely stay here again :)

Highly recommended if you are looking for a place to stay in/near Galway!

Breakfasts were amazing with coffee, tea, milk, juice, cereal, scones, and bread served in their dining room. And both Gerry and his daughter Aimee were so friendly and helpful. It was fun to talk to them. Thanks for a terrific stay!

Nestled away just outside of Galway City, we invite you to stay at The Burke's Country Cottage in Ballyquirke, Moycullen. A mere 20minute drive outside the main city centre, our cottage will offer you the real west-coast experience you've been looking for. The quaint cottage will fast become your home away from home the moment you cozy up in front of the roaring fire, and experience the stillness of the beautiful countryside.
The Burke’s Country Cottage is a semi-detached little slice of heaven. With this in mind, we wanted to ensure you were aware of the property limits so that you don’t accidentally make yourself at home on someone else’s slice of heaven (don’t fret, the Irish are lovely folk). The property limits of The Burke’s Country Cottage include: The front grass/pavement area The driveway The Patio to the side of The Cottage As this is shared land, please respect the privacy of the neighbouring individuals, and be sure to not go exploring in their neck of the woods. This is an old farmhouse, and as such you’ll see that the surrounding fields are still being used for raising farm animals, harvestings, etc. Further, the shed/fields are not to be entered at any time. There are farming tools and animals within those spaces, so for your own safety please remain within the detailed property limits above.
The Burke’s Country Cottage is located within a small community of Moycullen. Everyone here is very welcoming, kind, and facilitating. There are many a country road to be journeyed on, as well as being a short drive from Connemara. Throughout the week there are farmer's markets hosted in the village, the the bustling streets of Galway City just a quick trip away. Our favourite spots to checkout in Moycullen, and Galway City are all linked in our welcome booklet for your convenience.
  • A nice quiet and restful cottage. Its nice to be close to Galway, but out of the busyness; and easy access to the mountains and Connemara. It was a great place and Fiona and Ian are great hosts?

  • Great accommodation and friendly hosts

    Eimear2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Really cute house outside of the city! If you love looking at the Irish countryside and like pretty views, this place had a lot to offer! The place was the perfect size for us, and was close to the people we were visiting in the area. It was an overall great place to start the first leg of our Europe trip!

    Cal2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ian and Fiona’s cottage in Moycullen/Galway is a DREAM! It was everything I was hoping it’d be; off the beaten path, rustic, quiet, cozy, and all good things! It comes with it’s own quirks and charms, but if you accept it as it is, a lovely old girl, you’ll have a wonderful time! Fiona and Ian were IMPECCABLE with their communication! If I had a question I had an answer within minutes! They provide detailed instructions for how to use everything in the cottage so there isn’t any confusion, and if you are, they will give you whatever guidance you need. They also provide excellent suggestions for local interest and attractions! Given the chance, I’d stay again immediately!

    Melissa2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a nice stay! Very cosy home. Fiona and Ian are very kind and helped us with any problem we had. :)

    Julia2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • All good. No complaints. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is staying in the area. Thanks.

    Jim2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage! Comfortable and provides shower toiletries which was nice. It’s a little out of the way, but not a big deal with a car. Only thing I wish, is that there was a washer and dryer.

    Alex2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay, with great amenities. The hosts took a lot of time to ensure that the cottage was set up to be relaxing, and provided a lot of local tips. A lot of care has been put into this humble hideaway and we could see this in the special touches around the cottage itself. The property is quiet, they even have a patio set we enjoyed, and the fireplace was such a treat. Will definitely be back!

  • Maureen is a very generous and kind host. Breakfast is always ready on the table in the morning with freshly baked bread and as much coffee, tea or juice as You like. Room and bath were very clean. Maureen and her husband John take a real interest in their guests, are concerned for their guests comfort and are always up for a chat - You’ll feel very welcome at all times.

    Hendrik2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay with Maureen and John. They made us feel so welcome.

    Martin2018-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Would very much recommend to anyone that wants a break from the city life in Galway, while still being a short distance away. We felt right at home here!

    Margaret2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Maureen is a very warm, welcoming host. Despite our early arrival and that she was getting ready for a wedding she made us feel immediately at home, even calling a trusted taxi driver to take us to town. It's only a sort distance to the middle of Galway and provides a peaceful setting. The bed was super comfortable. Freshly baked scones for breakfast and the relaxed style of allowing guests to help themselves ended a very enjoyable short stay. Highly recommended.

    Shona2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house of Maureen is superb, and resembles the great houses of the American series. Our room was very nice and well equipped, with private bathroom. Delicious homemade breads at breakfast and sometimes scones (the best I have ever eaten). Precious equipment for babies. If you have a car, location is not a problem as the house is less than 10 minutes from Galway (but be aware that parking is expensive in Galway). Note: this is more a guest room, the kitchen does not seem to be available.

A modern home close to the city but in a rural setting. Just 10 mins drive from Galway City Centre and a great starting point for trips to Connemara, Aran Islands and Clifden. Situated in a safe cul-de-sac surrounded by family. The hosts are a young couple with small child and very knowledgeable on the locality (restaurants, bars, walks) so delighted to share this but also happy to give guests privacy.
This generous private room boasts a king size bed and ensuite with walk in shower. The room has large modern window but also has black out blinds. There is a private entrance.
We are located just a 2 min drive from the 5 Star Glenlo Abbey Hotel which has a golf course, bar and unique Pullman Restaurant (which is the train carriage used while filming the original Orient Express movie). We are also just 10 mins drive from Salthill which is a lovely seaside area with Atlantic Ocean promenade, picturesque diving board and numerous cafes.
  • The room was very clean and the location was perfect for us since we had a car. We would recommend staying here!

  • The space provided was bright and tidy with a nice view of the lake in the distance. Very quiet and comfortable. We slept comfortably and found the location handy for excursions in the country and Galway proper. Very sweet family made our stay very enjoyable.

    David2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sinead is a fantastic host. So friendly and welcoming. She gave us some great recommendations for food in town. The house is about 15 minute drive out of town on a beautiful property. The room is very private, with an en-suite and is very clean and modern. Perfect stay. Highly recommended.

    James2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • As we were passing through, unfortunately we could only spend 1 night at Sinead. The accommodation was very nice, modern and clean. To get to Galway, Salthill, ... or go out for dinner, you probably need a car. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the quiet rural location very well, as everything in a short time (about 10 minutes drive) well reached. Sinead and her family were very nice and helpful. If we want to travel to Galway again, we are glad to know such a good and beautiful address! Thank you dear Sinead and all the best for you! Ute and Wolfgang

Our house is in the countryside, but very close to Galway city. It is about a five minute drive to the university and a ten minute drive to the cathedral and town. There are no bus stops near us, but it is very convenient by car. We are a good launch pad for all areas on the Wild Atlantic Way. It's very nice to have a walk through beautiful Irish countryside on the small local roads. We also encourage guests to explore the beautiful wild garden that surrounds the house.
The room is bright and quiet, with a comfortable, king-sized bed. There is a large en suite bathroom, with a bath and a dressing area. Hot water always available. There is an abundance of lighting in the room. The room has a key.
We are not far from Galway city centre, which is an exciting place of great pubs and lively atmosphere. It's great to walk down the main street and listen to the excellent buskers, watch the Irish dancers, and maybe stop for a pint of Guinness. Galway is the real Ireland. It is quite easy to get into town from our house, although it is on no bus routes. There are beautiful walks around the country roads here, and you can see horses and donkeys along the road. The countryside here is amazing, and it feels so fresh to be out. We are near the Wild Atlantic Way, and it is easy to get from our home to many places of amazing beauty. We are about a 15 minute drive from Salthill, Blackrock, a really fun place where people swim in the sea throughout the year, and silver strand. It is convenient ot get to Connemara, The Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, Sligo, Clare and Killkenny from here.
  • David’s place was extremely clean, stylish and a pleasure to stop at. David was very helpful with some good recommendations for places to eat and drink in Galway, as well as suggesting a nice walk along the promenade at Black Rock.

  • Very comfortable and spacious room. Big ensuite shower. Robert and his wife were very helpful and friendly.

    Víctor2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • A little tough to find the house but once we arrived, Maria and Robert were more than welcoming. Lovely tray of tea and biscuits left for us which was perfect after a long trip. The bed is very cosy and the bathroom is sparkling clean with a few lovely touches. Will definitely stay again if back in the area!

    Ciara2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Maria are a very friendly, accommodating couple. They have a very clean, modern room set aside in the corner of their home with an on-suite. The house is located not too far from Galway and Salthill, perfect if you have a car. We decided to have a few drinks in Galway and found a tax was only €15-€20 each way. The couple have 4 very sweet children who all waved us good bye as we left in the car. I think this place is a bargain if you want to stay close to Galway but far enough away to explore the surrounding area by car.

    Carl2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful home with a spacious and sparkling clean en-suite accommodation in a quiet neighborhood ensured I had a wonderful night’s rest. It is conveniently located right off N59, easy drive to Galway City. And there is a tea/coffee station in the bedroom with some biscuits for a treat. I was warmly welcomed and then had the flexibility to come and go as I needed to. I highly recommend staying at this beautiful home!

  • Marie was so kind and picked us up when we had struggle finding her place due to Google Maps. She was very hospitable, her room perfect for our us: private and with a great bathroom. Even though we didn't have much time there, we did enjoy our stay!

    Nele2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The stay with Marie was exceptional from A to Z. Marie is very personable, very communicative and gave us great tips (including for dinner). The room was very nice, big and spacious and the beds very comfortable. In addition, both room and bathroom were very clean. And the shower was UNIQUE, by far the best in our Ireland vacation. We felt very comfortable with Marie and can recommend the stay unreservedly. We will be back definitely. Thank you for everything Marie and all the best. Until next time.

  • Very good place to stay in the vicinity of Galway. The room is very clean and has a bathroom with a sophisticated shower with several jets. The host is very welcoming and even picked us up, so it was very late and we had trouble finding the place in the dark.

    Francois2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Marie is a great host. We had issues the day of our check in which caused us to arrive very late. Marie stayed up and even left the house to come find us when we had trouble with the directions. She went above and beyond. Furthermore, the house is very nice. The room and beds are comfortable. You get an attached private bathroom with THE BEST SHOWER IVE USED in an AirBNB. The place is only 20 minutes outside of Galway. Definitely would stay again, and would recommend to anyone visiting Galway.

    Mike2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Martin’s place in Galway, which I highly recommend to others. Firstly, Martin was an outstanding host: welcoming, approachable, and hospitable - in a way that facilitated a good stay in Galway. And as a host, he was kind and warm but never ‘too much’ or invasive. We felt very comfortable in the space with Martin as our host. The apartment is beautiful and sparking clean. The bed, pillows, and linen were very comfortable - I should have asked where the pillows came from! The kitchen was very functional too. Essentially, the place has everything that one would need, and in a space that feels comfortable and relaxing to be in. The residence is 5 kms out of the city centre of Galway, so getting in and out of is probably best done by a having a car to drive yourself or taxi - which wasn’t too costly. But when the sun is up, and outside of peak hour traffic, it makes for a wonderful walk into the city.

    Tamara2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to have a restful, calm and cozy days. The cleanliness and care of the house is impeccable. Martin and his wife are very kind and always willing to help in any situation. The house is a bit distant from Galway, so it's important to drive.

  • My husband and I stayed at five different places during our trip and Brian's cottage is our favorite. Cozy, comfortable, and quiet. The house has everything you need to make a good meal or to unwind with some movies and reading. Brian has great advice for getting around the area and good recommendations for shopping, eating, and site-seeing. The best host in Ireland without a doubt. Our only regret is that we did not book more time here, we were sad to leave. We will rent this cottage exclusively again on our next trip to the country, as well as strongly recommend the rental for friends and family.

    Jessi2019-11-04T00:00:00Z

  • We had a great two nights at Brian’s cottage located right outside of Galway/Salthill. The cottage has everything you need, breakfast included and a beautiful view. Brian met us at the door and gave us lots of recommendations for the local area. We even got to sit in on a group storytelling at the local pub where Brian shares information on Ireland. I would definitely recommend a stay at Brian’s!

    Ann2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the view from the front of the house. Brian was out of town but his sister Mary was very helpful answering our questions and showing us around the house.

    Michele2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Brian’s cottage is in a great position for visiting the Connemara area. It is very quiet and has plenty of room. The stairs to the bedrooms are very narrow and steep. We chose to leave our bags downstairs which was not an issue as there is plenty of room. The bathroom is also downstairs.

  • We stayed in Drimneen cottage for 3 nights over the October bank holiday to celebrate my mum's birthday and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Muireann welcomed us when we arrived and gave us a great low down on everything from where to go, eat, planning out days and every little bit of info you could possibly need for the stay in the house. Our fog was made to feel very welcome and we all had a wonderfully comfortable stay. The house is immaculate and so clean. It's well equipped and Muireann left us some wonderful little extra touches such as fresh flowers, a loaf of fresh bread and passes to Bridget's gardens which was lovely and really appreciated! Contact with Muireann before, during and after our stay has been gotta class and she's probably one of the most helpful hosts we've ever had the pleasure to rent from. The house is well located with Galway city only 20mins drive at most. Thank you so much for from making our stay wonderful and special for my mum's birthday. 100% super super place and host!!

  • Such a lovely place to stay and our host was amazingly thoughtful and helpful with providing tips and advice on where to go. Would happily go back.

  • Very nice house with all the amenities we needed. It’s not very clear in the listing, but the owner lives in half of the house and shares the outdoor areas. She’s very kind and helpful though. The area is lovely. It’s possible to take a taxi into Galway or Moycullen if you get sick of driving, although it’s a bit on the pricey side.

  • A really nice place to spend a few days - very close to the main Galway-Clifden road but also very quiet. Comfortable, spacious - and a very warm welcome from Muireann. Totally recommended

A perfect base from which to explore the west of Ireland, Connemeara, an gaeltacht, or the nearby fishing lakes and mountain ranges. Please message for more details.
  • Susan and Tony were remarkable hosts! They were really welcoming and attentive to our comfort. The house was perfectly clean, the bedroom was spacious and beautiful. The GPS lost us, but we called Susan and she was very reactive and came to our rescue! We spent a lot of time talking about Ireland (including GAA! Go Kerry!

***** Special rate for 3 nights + ***** ''A place quite unlike any other'' - The Guardian. Welcome to Cnoc Suain, our lovingly & sustainably restored international award-winning hillside hamlet in the Connemara Gaeltacht(Gaelic speaking area). Unwind in our cosy slate-roofed stone-faced cottage "An Nead"(Nest), surrounded by rolling hills & luminous skies, in an atmosphere of tranquility & timelessness.
An ideal rural base in the Conamara Gaeltacht for exploring; Galway city; the Cliffs of Moher & Burren; Aran Islands; Connemara National Park. This sustainably restored slate roofed stone cottage has distinct rustic character & charm. It includes a cosy dining/living room, hand-crafted kitchen with modern conveniences, and a twinlock (6ft/183cm wide , 6ft 3' / 190cm long) bed. Books of Irish interest are available to read in the cottage. The cottage is suitable for maximum of two people, adults only. Regretfully, the terrain surrounding Cnoc Suain, which includes high dry-stone walls and deep bog pools, is, for safety reasons, unsuitable for young people under 14 years of age. Our Connemara hill village blends quietly and unobtrusively with the surrounding landscape. Stone thatched and slated cottages, dating back to 1691, nestle seamlessly into the hillside. Influenced by the surrounding fragile ecosystem, the cottages have been sensitively restored, while exuding a sense of timelessness, comfort and ease. To make you feel at home we provide a welcome basket with some homebaked goods and breakfast supplies. Bed linen and towels provided, washing machine close by. Dining / living room has a wood-burning stove with a fuel pack included. Salvaged timbers and slates were used in it's construction. Heating is provided by electric oil-filled radiators. Electricity & heating is included in the price. There is no TV or wifi in the cottage - wifi is available in the local villages of An Spidéal (Spiddal) and Maigh Cuilinn (Moycullen). The picturesque coastal fishing village of An Spideal (Spiddal) is a 5 minute drive, and Maigh Cuilinn (Moycullen) is a 7 minute drive from Cnoc Suain. These villages provide an excellent choice of restaurants, cafes, shops, supermarkets, healthfood stores & pharmacies, with some shops opening until 10.00 pm. Due to the secluded rural location of the cottage, a car or bicycle is required to travel to the local villages. A taxi service is available to and from Spiddal village. This is an area favoured by cyclists and walkers alike. Enjoy lively traditional music sessions or quiet corners in the local hostelries. A Farmer's Market is held in Moycullen village each Friday. Mobile/cellphone coverage is not particularly strong in this area but it can be found in certain spots. Cnoc Suain is ideally located for exploring the surrounding region. West Connemara (Kylemore Abbey and the Connemara National Park) is an hour's drive from Cnoc Suain, while Galway city is only 25 minutes away. The Burren and the Cliffs of Moher are approximately 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours drive. The ferry to the Aran Islands is a 45 minute drive from the cottage - you can also take a flight, in a small plane, to the islands. The small airport is a 30 minute drive from Cnoc Suain.
  • We had a perfect little winter getaway at the cottage. Charlie and Dearbhaill have the cottage supplied with everything you could possibly need to make yourself comfortable and were always there with recommendations. We loved to read by the fire and enjoyed great sleep in a good bed. Hopefully we can come back soon and get to appreciate more of Cnoc Suain, the irish nature and those two great hosts!

    Elisa2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Dearbhaill & Charlie are the most gracious hosts! We almost let the lack of WiFi stop us from booking this place, and I’m so glad we didn’t! This cozy, comfy & clean cottage exceeded all expectations—our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer! If you’re looking for an intimate getaway to reconnect with your partner or just want some time to yourself to sit by the fire with a glass of wine, this is your place!

    Krista2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • The hospitality, the special touches and having Charlie walk us through was so sweet and special. We arrived late (and in the night) and Charlie had the fire stoked for us, gave us the quick tour and house tutorial with a smile. His wife's freshly baked goods were laid out and we offered to stay a minute to give us any tour tips for our travels the next day. The house and grounds were beyond description for an outstanding and incredible life memory for us to cherish always.

    Brienne2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie and Dearbhaill have a wonderful group of cottages. If you're looking for something simple to help you relax and get away from the noise. This is a great spot. Great for star watching and reading by the peat fire. There will be a card for a local driver that can take you to and from the cottage to nearby pubs in Galway, Spiddal, Moycullen, etc.

    Charles2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great host! And such an adorable cottage. Extremely cozy place to hole up with a fire and a good book. Hope to be back!

    Matthew2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at the stone cottage was one of the highlights of my trip to Ireland! If this experience appeals to you, I cannot recommend Cnoc Suain enough. My only regret is not booking more time in such a beautiful, tranquil setting. I spent my cellular-free evenings with a fire roaring in the Stanley stove, reading Irish history and listening to the folk music CDs provided. There were so many thoughtful touches offered by Dearbhaill and Charlie, including hearty oatmeal, eggs, bread and a scone for breakfast, along with reading material, playing cards and plenty of logs for the stove. Charlie warmly welcomed me despite my later-than-expected arrival, and had a fire going in to greet me. I used Cnoc Suain as a base for a day trip to Inishmore, taking the ferry from Rossaveal (about a half hour away). I hope to return and explore more of the Conemarra region. Gorgeous setting and lovely hosts ... stay here to recharge and have a truly unique Irish experience.

    Emily2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • The host was fantastic, and local tips were just great. The cottage was great had everything needed and wanted. Would certainly recommend

  • I honestly can’t say thank you enough to Mary and Hugh for their hospitality. Just on the basics alone my experience was top class. Such a clean, safe, and peaceful place. Additionally their help in locating my family in the area was instrumental in reconnecting; I hadn’t seen them in over 30 years! When I had to check-out at 4:30am my last morning, Mary already packed up a to-go box of food for the road; I was honored beyond measure, and is something just like my mother would’ve done. I’ll very much miss the talks over tea, giving Hitchy boy some scratches when coming and going, and everything else about my stay there. The genuineness Mary and Hugh offer is really special; thank you all so very much. Will keep in touch for sure, all the best - Pat.

  • Lovely stay. Very comfortable room. Very nice breakfast. Delores is a fantastic host.

    Tom2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay with Dolores. She was very accommodating and stayed up to greet us after a late flight and drive from Shannon airport. She provided excellent communication and directions to her place which is in a quiet spot a short drive from town. The room was spacious and light and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was a perfect way to start the day. Dolores was lovely to chat with and recommended we spend the day out at Connemara and hike diamond hill, about an 1.5 hour drive away. She offered us some of her homemade scones to take for the hike which was very thoughtful. We enjoyed the drive and the views on the hike, which was a good amount of work but a nice way to spend the afternoon before having dinner and drinks in town. If you want a more local experience and some fantastic Irish hospitality I can not recommend Dolores enough.

  • I cannot speak highly enough of the cottage. It was everything we had hoped it would be, so cosy but with all the facilities you could need. Charlie’s hospitality was so helpful, from meeting us when we arrived to providing us with great suggestions for driving routes, sights and places for dinner. All of which we did and were indeed excellent. Really appreciated the additional considerations- including the breakfast basket! Thank you again for a wonderful stay, I look forwarding to visiting again!

  • An absolutely unforgettable place to experience the beauty of County Galway. The cottage feels like going back in time in the best ways while providing many 21st century comforts. Charlie was very helpful getting us situated and it was lovely to be able to walk out to the surrounding bogs. Reading and knitting by the fire were a wonderful way to disconnect from the hustle of life and reconnect with quiet. Am very hopeful I can return to this wonderful spot in the planet again someday.

Couldn't have stayed anywhere better. Sorcha was a great host in giving us lots of information before we arrived and sending family to say hello to us. Thanks!

  • This is a beautiful house with great space and lovely hospitality, it’s in an amazing location, close to Galway if the weather isn’t amazing and close to so many outdoor beauty spots if weather is good, local amenities and a stylish comfortable house to return to. Wonderful information provided by hosts!

  • Great place to explore the area - the Burren, Galway and the Connemara. A very friendly and cosy family home - loads of space in the kitchen and rooms. Plenty of toys and games for the kids to play indoor and a fab wooden structure outside. Quick and easy to get in touch with Sorcha and her mother-in-law, Teresa.

    Déborah2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • This house is great. It's big and comfortable to accommodate many people (we were 5 adults, 3 children and a baby), plus so well-equipped and cozy that you feel really welcomed. Plenty of kids stuff that made the different to us (cot already available, toys and books for the children, big playground in the garden) and also all the kitchen stuff you need if you want to cook. We had very low temperatures during our stay, and the heating and hot water worked really well to heat absolutely all rooms in the house. Teresa was so kind that she came especially to check-in how we were doing and offering any help. The location is also handy to visit some Connemara spots and enjoy a peaceful and beautiful surrounding. Our only suggestion would be to have a barbecue outside so that the outdoor can be enjoyed more. This house is lovely and we'd highly recommend it and will go back again for sure in the future. Thanks Sorcha for hosting us!!

    Laura2019-10-28T00:00:00Z

Big and really comfortable room with a private bathroom in really good conditions, and a big area for relaxing, watching TV, having breakfast (we could enjoy amazing homemade biscuits in the morning) and with a big amount of facilities. We were just at 15-20m rive from Galway so the conenction was perfect and in a really nice and quiet area. Trish also recommended us few places in the towns nearby so we could enjoy some dinner in there after the long drive of the first day! We would repeat without any doubt :)

  • A very nice and quiet place to relax. Trish and her family are very hospitable and helpful. We got great recommendations for excursions and retaurants. The house is very nice and well maintained. The room was large and nice with direct access to the own 5 star bath. The breakfast was also very good with fresh bread. We would come back anytime.

  • I booked a room for my parents, who were attending a party nearby. They reported back that they had a fantastic time and that Trish was super welcoming and helpful. They particularly enjoyed eating their breakfast in the sun in the outdoor seating area!

    Emer2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Trish’s place is a beautiful home, very clean and tasteful decorations. We were given home-made scones and bread and tea and coffee for breakfast which was perfect. We were invited to a wedding at St Brigits Garden nearby - for that Trish’s place is also a handy location. I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling the area!

    Carla2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Trish&Paul are super nice and welcoming. We could use their bbq and enjoy their lovely garden. The room was huge and ensuite, and everthing was very clean. Actually, the room looks much nicer than in the pictures. I would define it as a "5 stars room". They provided towels, shampoo, etc... In addition, they offered us a light breakfast with very tasty homemade scones , some bread, jam, coffee, tea and milk. We will come back again without any doubt.

  • I very much enjoyed my stay in Trish and Paul’s place. The house is stunning, sparkling clean with so many lovely touches and in such a quiet location. Trish and Paul’s hospitality was wonderful and I can only recommend to stay in their beautiful home. Thanks again!

  • Trish and Paul are great hosts. Warm and welcoming and very accommodating. Room was spacious and clean and the common room was relaxing and well appointed with everything to make it a homey stay. Highly recommended, and makes a great base to see Galway and explore the Connemara region. Jenny and Bill.

  • Catherine is a kind and gracious host. She made my parents and I stay easy and enjoyable. If your traveling through Galway you should defined book with her.

    Tim2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine was absolutely fantastic! She was incredibly welcoming, accommodating and helpful! At breakfast, she always sits down to have a little conversation that is always very entertaining and nice. Also tips for the environment in particular also Zb which auto route one should go to see beautiful corners you get from her. Their breakfast was very rich (there was yogurt, bread, sweet bread, toast, cornflakes, bananas, apple, cheese, nutoka, jam ...) and their bread and jam were homemade and unbelievably delicious and rich. It is also for people with not so good English skills or people who do not always know all vocabulary so well to understand =). The room was very clean, bright and nice size. The distance to Galway is a bit further and costs if you take a taxi to the city center around 25 euros. The great hospitality, the incredibly sympathetic and open lady, the beautiful room and the delicious breakfast are worth it all times. !!!! mega !! Gladly again. Thank you

  • Great hospitality and charming place

    Asaf2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine has 2 lovely bedrooms and private baths available in her upstairs. They are very bright and airy with high ceilings and sky lights. The whole home is spotless and inviting, especially with Catherine's home baked brown bread for breakfast, among all the other offerings. We felt like family at Catherine's when she shared family wedding photos and showed me how she makes her bread, she calls brack. She wanted details on our daily outings and offered tips for the next day. I think about her often, and hope to visit again some day!

    Jane2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine was a very attentive and interested hostess ... and so sympathetic. The breakfast was very good for Irish standards. We felt very comfortable with Catherine.

    Tanja2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine is an amiable lady and mother of six children. She talked to her while she was having breakfast and saw that she was proud of her child. I have been serving us for breakfast, thank you very much for her service!

    Fen2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Catherine's house is like the pictures, beautiful, extremely clean, the room is big, with everything you need. The winter garden is a great place to rest after a day of walking. With the post code you fall right in the right place. Ideally located for all Connemara, Galway and even the Cliffs of Moher. Catherine is a golden person, we feel she likes to welcome, receive, she is extremely caring and available. The breakfast is a bliss, a lot of choice and delicious. Regarding the meal, special mention for The Forge 2 minutes walk. In short we were delighted with our 3 night stay at Catherine's and we highly recommend it. (family with a child of 5 years)

  • Maureen has a beautiful home in Galway. The location was very convenient for our stay with a 20 minute (gorgeous) walk to Glenlo Abbey Hotel (or a 4 min. taxi) and a 15 minute taxi ride to the center. Maureen was very responsive and a great host, we would be happy to stay there again if we are in the area again:

    Laura2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house with an amazing view. Maureen and John were great hosts. They made us feel at home. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The place was close to town and a very short drive from the city centre. I would recommend this place and also go back when I am in Galway again.

    Rachel2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We staid at Maureen's place for one night. The room is comfortable and clean and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. If you need to get to Galway city centre and don't want to drive the taxi is 15 euros one way, so it is probably a good idea to leave the car at home and rather get a pint in town. Maureen is a really kind and respectful host.

  • Maureen and John were the perfect hosts. Their home is an incredible space in a magic location surrounded by nature, yet only minutes from town. Added touches of homemade scones and tea etc made the stay even better. The room was spotless. Fabulous en-suite and comfortable bed in a fantastic house. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Room was luxurious, clean and bright. Had a lovely chat in the morning at breakfast. I really enjoyed the history of their local primary school which they helped keep open by sending their son before his 4th birthday and which is now a lovely big school. Dolores and Jimmy are a lovely couple who obviously take pride in their home and offering a memorable experience to their guests. Go raibh mile maith agat.
