Places to stay in Moynalty

Places to stay in Moynalty
This is recent modern Barn conversion. (Jan 2015) It contains one large kitchen/dining/lounge area, one double bedroom with en suite facilities. June 2017 added second Living Space area with view of farm and wood, Lobby area with Laundry facilities and a second bathroom. Please note the Grounds and external outdoor perimeter of The Barn is protected by CCTV TK Alarm Company.
The Dream Barn offers old style Irish living with modern luxuries. It is located in the Village. Dublin is 50 minutes drive away on the M3 motorway. Belfast is under two hours away. Kells our local Town is five minutes away. Moynalty won the Tidiest Village Award in Ireland in 2013. Moynalty offers one local pub ( McCormacks) , a Post Office with AIB Banking services, Church, coffee shop, Beauty Store, Hair Salon, two local shops, McNallys Pharamacy and a garage service station, tennis courts, fishing rivers. Loughcrew Megalithic Cairns, Hill of Tara, Newgrange, Lloyd Tower (inland Lighthouse) and Girley Eco Bog are some of the local places to visit. Also equestrian facilities and Golf courses are adjacent. Apart from Kells, Oldcastle and Virgina are interesting towns to explore. I am very animal friendly.... dog, cats and hens live here (cows in adjacent field) also lots of wildlife! (squirrels, badgers, hedgehogs, foxes, birdlife) If your pet is sociably minded he/she is welcome to join the farm. Your dog needs to be cat friendly to get along here! The Borora River runs not far from my home on the opposite side. Also there is a large park (Threshing Field) with an outdoor gym and Agricultural Museum. The two local Newsagent and Grocery Stores , Hair Salon, Beauty Salon and Garage and one fine Irish pub and Post Office and Church are all minutes from my home.
The loveliest aspect to living in Moynalty is the friendly people who are so proud of their Village. The old Village was erected in 1860 and you will see how beautifully maintained these homes are. There is a beautiful park in the village which is also home to a local museum.
  • One of the most homeliness places I have ever stayed at, and to meet Jim and his partner was the best part of the experience. The spirit of the small town was overwhelmingly friendly and made me felt like it was "home" for my short stay. Definitely pet-friendly which was a plus!

    Lucy2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's superb facilities must surely be unequalled anywhere on airbnb- all angles are covered in the quest to provide a cosy home from home for his guests. He is the most humane and discreet of hosts. Book with confidence- you will not be disappointed.

    Chris2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jim was a great host and made us feel very welcomed into the lovely cottage. Very warm interior with plenty of kitchenware to cook, a nice fireplace and a great view on the country side.

    Julia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's place is amazing! Very quirky and you can spend hours here looking at everything that Jim has put into the home. It's like a curiosity shop! It's so peaceful and tranquil here and we enjoyed our time. Jim has overlooked nothing there is every cooking utensil required the extra touches was great! Jim is very welcoming, he is around if needed but unobtrusive. We brought our mini yorkshire terrier with us and she loved it here. We enjoyed the fresh hen eggs too. Would recommend Jim's home and we will be back Thank you Jim for a great weekend and some well deserved R&R Margaret

  • Fantastic quirky little retreat in a beautiful part of the world, very close to Dublin and close to the amazing historical sites such as Newgrange and Loughcrew Cairns. Amazing attention to detail in the barn and a very comfortable spot, I would recomend this place to anyone. Jim and Susan were both very welcoming and friendly.

    Emmet2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Home from home.. found it hard to leave.. Jim has everything and more than you'll need to enjoy your stay in Moynalty.. cant recommend this place enough, definitely be back for more R&R

    Eleanor2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Charming place & Jim is so helpful. Loved the eggs :)

    Paula2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful gem of a cottage in a stunning garden setting that left me feeling like I was in a different world. This place has absolutely everything a guest would desire, from colour catcher sheets (a must for me, first time to see) to every kitchen gadget ever invented. Definitely no arguments over TV as there's three in total! There's no need even for entertainment such as television, as the place is like a curiosity shop, you won't get bored just sitting & looking around this attentively arranged throve of treasures. Apart from Jim being one of the most caring & friendly host I've met, this truly is a magical place, whoever is lucky enough to visit will surely love to return.

  • It’s such a lovely place to stay, like a home from home. So close to all the sacred sites. I was very content to take a break from city life and be in the comfy surrounds of the farm.

  • Had a nice stay . Plenty of fresh vegetables from huge garden

    Peter2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Siobhan's place is like a hidden gem in the countryside. Just an hour from Dublin city you will find yourself totally immersed in mother nature - organic vegetable farm, beautiful green scenery and surrounded by animals. I booked a massage from Siobhan at very last minute and she was so accommodating. The massage was definitely a highlight, I felt totally being looked after - physically as well as spiritually. Then, Siobhan's mom walked me through their organic farm where there is so much variety of vegetables and herbs, you name it they have it. You will get to eat whatever is in season - without any nasty pesticides! The room itself is sparkling clean, the kitchen is a communal area where you get to interact with different guests from different places. Lastly, if these wouldn't convince you to have a stay, I don't know what will.

    Mable2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • I can highly recommend this place! Siobhan and her family are very kind and lovely people. They were extremely helpful and really made me feel at home. Their place is quietly located, in a beautiful area surrounded by nature. It's the ideal spot to just kick back, relax and enjoy the amazing scenery. I will definitely return again in the future!

The cottage itself is part of a farm house with working yard/small farm with dogs/cats and horses/donkeys and livestock in the adjoining fields. • Amazing, warm and welcoming host (and welcoming committee). A truly stunning, unique and cosy restored cottage oozing with character, thoughtful personal touches and offering a surreal sense of serenity. Great location with beautiful rural surroundings and an abundance of local sites of interest and intrigue. Stay in Trohanny cottage and you will never want to leave! • Aine's cottage is a veritable treat, comprising authentic historic restoration, rustic comfort and charm paired with her warm, thoughtful hospitality and generosity in providing many extras and kind touches to welcome guests.

    Michelle2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Aines cottage is amazing! She is a fantastic host who gave us such a warm welcome. The cottage has been beautifully and loving restored and is full of charm and character. The WiFi worked perfectly, the lovely underfloor heating was great and meant the cottage was really deceptively cosy. Aine had the fire lit for us as well which was great. Aine also left us milk, bread eggs etc for breakfast which was very kind. Also the bath!! Like being at a spa!! This is the perfect space for a really romantic, relaxing weekend away. The space around the cottage is also beautiful and very quiet even with the the dogs, cats, horses and donkeys on site! Carparking is secure behind gates. I don't know why it's not booked out all the time! So to sum up this is a gorgeous cottage which is a credit to Aine and her family, it's a hidden gem, book it!!

    Niamh2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable cottage. Quaint and luxurious at the same time. We had a cozy evening before heading home and enjoyed every minute. A warm fireplace in the living room, a deep tub to soak in and a fluffy bed in a romantic bedroom. Perfect for our 5 year anniversary! I would highly recommend for couples looking to have a quiet relaxing stay in the country close to Dublin. Aine was a lovely host. She has impeccable taste in decor, with local touches throughout the space. When we go to Ireland again, we will definitely be returning to this cottage!

    Dana2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn’t recommend this cottage enough. It is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a relaxing trip. The cottage has everything you would need for your stay and I had a lovely time staying here. Áine was a great host and was very welcoming. • Bridget and her daughter Siobhan were sweet and accommodating hosts! Bridget takes care of all the daily chores and Siobhan does the internet and bookings. Fresh homemade soda bread was available for morning breakfast along with eggs , butter and .Organically grown onions and Garlic . In the summer, a long term guest tolk me that the organic home grown vegetables are amazing . The homemade Irish stew Bridget made for another guest smelled amazing. Only €5 for a huge portion. The olace was Tidy and clean. Will definitely come back!

  • I had such a wonderful and restorative time at castletown Moor. I only stayed for 2 days but could have easily stayed on for a couple of weeks. Siobhan and Bridget were very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was really cosy and felt like a home away from home. Thanks also to Siobhan for a beautiful healing session. I fully recommend staying here. Amazing value for money too. :)

  • I would like to say thanks to everyone at the farm who made my stay a memorable experience, if you want to use the facilities you can, eggs, bread tea and coffee is provided. If you are like me, I dont like to cook when on holiday, you can take a nice stroll up to the Staholmog service station (Histy), who will serve you a full Irish breakfast (Yum), sandwiches, wraps, cakes with tea of coffee, what ever you want. The farm is ideally placed so you can visit Carlanstown, Kells, Navan, Trim, The Hill of Tara to name but a few. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and soak in the Irish hospitality.

  • I had a wonderful experience at Siobhan's place. The single room I was staying in was far bigger than most double sized rooms. There were features to the property and reminded me of fond memories I had from my childhood visiting my grand parents and extended family in the country. The family and the person were all so friendly and it was a pleasure staying there. Perfect escape from the chaotic city life. Will definitely go back. There are a few projects being work upon which will definitely make the place even more enjoyable.

  • We could not have been happier staying at Jane's. It felt like we had stepped back in time but with the luxury of hot water, cozy beds, and fresh coffee and farm eggs in the morning. Jane was responsive and helpful, providing suggestions for exploring the local area, and to wake up on her gorgeous farm was balm for the soul. Thank you, Jane!

    Mara2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Jane's place. The wood burning stove was perfect and the fresh eggs in the morning were lovely!

  • We really enjoyed our stay here! It was bigger than I expected and I liked that the bedroom was upstairs away from the living room. It made it nice to get some space and privacy, when needed. Highly recommend!

  • Jane’s farm is a perfect getaway from city life. Beautiful grounds and limited WiFi means you get to enjoy the world around you:). And...her dog Angus is an excellent playmate for a round of fetch. We loved it and would visit again!

    Stephen2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • After our trip in Northern Ireland we spent another night in Janes super comfortable accommodation and that was wonderful. When we arrived, the stove was fired, flowers were on the table, .... We felt right at home - thanks for everything :)

    Claudia2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was an absolute joy to stay with Jane. From the host, to the surroundings - everything about this place feels relaxed. The garden is a hidden treasure, beautiful flowers, way bigger than you would ever suspect and wonderful proof of the great and layered history that the Lakehouse has. Swimming in the lake was a refreshing treat!

  • Good parking, slightly difficult to find only as I hadn't followed instructions but Sioban was easy to get hold over. She was very welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed. Clean and with a big wood burner fire. Everything you needed in the kitchen. Not spanking new but this is a working farm. Comfy bed.

  • We stayed on Sat 14th dec and just had an amazing time it’s a very interesting place to explore and learn what they do , the atmosphere was nice and calming , the house was clean , cosy and warm , the family were genuine and helpful and would give you the time of day . It is everything it says it is and more . I would 100% recommend an holistic treatment as part of your stay and experience , just find out for yourself . Siobhan , Bridget and the family have created a wonderful space . The only thing I would suggest is that everyone just books a stay here , 6 stars all round 😁
