Places to stay in Nepal
Enjoy this very comfortable flat, quietly nested between two quiet courtyards, just off Swotha Square and Patan Durbar sq. right in the heart of the beautiful historical Patan. It is a very romantic cocoon or just a wonderful base to explore the area. Perfect as well for a consulting mission (big desk)
Charming and comfortable renovated apartment in a wonderfully located and soulful Newari House. Double bed, spacious bathroom, storage space, equipped kitchen, working space… Located inside Yatachhen house, one of the first successful conservation project of Newari architecture in the Old patan. The house has been entirely renovated/ rebuilt 10 years ago with modern anti seismic method and the addition of concrete belts to assure extreme security in case of earthquake. It has paid off as the house didn't suffer of a single crack/ damage during the last earthquake that hit Nepal in April 2015. Amenities: • Kitchen: fridge, 4 ring hobs, oven, crockery, pots and pan • Attached bathroom with hot shower from storage geyser and WC • Storage space with closets and cupboards • Desk/ working space area • Electricity backup for all-day power supply • Heater in winter • Free WIFI • Set of towels and linens changed every week • Cleaning every day • Electronic Safety Locker for storing your valuable items. Yatachhen House literally means "living in Harmony"... give it a try!
The Old Patan is a fantastic area to stay in. It is much more authentic and traditional than the tourist-spoiled places of Kathmandu/ Thamel and its concrete jungle. There are many hidden treasures to discover: hindu temples everywhere, Buddhist stupas, courtyards, secret paths, monasteries, local food spots... The vibrant local life of the Newars (the original ethnic group of the Kathmandu Valley) guarantees you a very rich cultural experience.
  • I fell in love with this place the minute I saw the pictures online. It was even better to be there itself. Really glad I chose this location in Kathmandu. Wished I would have stayed more nights here. Look no further, Cosy Nepal really gives you the cosy feeling. They really put in a lot of effort into the guidebook as well which I loved as I do not have to really plan on where to eat and go while I was there! Everything is laid out for you in a booklet. Thank you Nigen, Sohan & Sailesh for the great hospitality too. They were kind enough to let me check out late on my last day before I fly off.

  • Great location and communication. Clean beautiful place with traditional Newari architecture. The best thing of my stay was the hospitality provided by the team at Cosy Nepal. Thank you....

  • A very good address, ideally located in Patan, quiet in a perfectly clean and cozy accommodation! The team on site is welcoming, charming and a wealth of good addresses at your disposal. We really enjoyed our stay and thank you again for the welcome!

  • The house is right next to Patanduba Square. It is very close to the two-bedroom we booked, but it actually consists of a small room plus a similar studio location. If you live with family or friends of the same sex, there is no problem. It ’s a bit inconvenient for people who are not very close or two families. The room is beautiful and clean, with electric heaters. There is also a mini open kitchen.

  • A first visit to Kathmandu, I wasn't sure what to expect as far as accommodations. The Cosynepal properties are such a diamond in the rough. From their friendly pick up service at the airport which drives you right to their front door, to the exceptional housekeeping who do an amazing job, to the staff that feel more like welcoming friends. Let me tell you, the house dogs featuring Yohni, the two Rotties, the puppies and and little white fluffy girl named Puhn Dar, they have become part of my Nepal story and I cherish the time I got to spend with them each and every day. Waking up to the sounds of dogs below and hearing the temple and shrine bells, you can't put a price on something like that. Truly beautiful experience. Sidenote: If Puhn Dar ever needs a home, and isn't afraid to travel I would absolutely love to adopt her and take her home with me. Seriously!!! LOVE her!!! Also a couple things worth mentioning, Wifi was spotty or completely down 3 of the 5 nights I was there. Not the biggest deal in the world, but I try to keep my reviews as honest as I can. Positives also worth mentioning that I have not yet, super water pressure, great hot water, great bed, also liked the shared kitchen space with complimentary washing machine. Yep, you shouldn't hesitate with this one. It's truly a one of a kind.

  • This was a great spot for my family of four, a four year old and two month old. Great access to Lalitpur neighborhood, still easy to Kathmandu and Bakhtapor. Great hosts and one of our favorite AirBnb rentals we've stayed.

Stay at safe and clean place during your stay in Kathmandu! Lazimpat is popular residential area for both foreign and wealthy local people because of its very clean, convenient and safe environment. The city center, Durbar Marg and Thamel, is all located in walking distance. Convenient location, safe area, super clean house with beautiful garden and good foods, any reason to hesitate? ;)
  • Nice place conveniently located above a cafe and walking distance from many locations in Katmandu. Really enjoyed the small breakfasts and nice soft mattresses.

  • I really enjoyed the room, hospitality and amenities. The whole place has a unique charm. Service was excellent, the room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast exceeded my expectations. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Bedding were super high quality, staff were excellent. Breakfast was great. location was a bid far for tourists.

  • Set in beautifully tranquil Lazimpat, the guesthouse is a haven in the mania that's continually produced by Kathmandu's boisterous core. It's been tastefully assembled with thought and consideration given to even the simplest of aesthetic design touches, starting with the gardens and ending with the bedrooms - it's a chic establishment, both inside and out. The food is great - clean, wholesome and tasty, the staff friendly and the ambiance relaxed. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

  • This place is absolutely lovely! My room was very comfortable and warm. I was a bit under the weather for most of my stay here so it was a great cozy place to hang out in. The restaurant attached is delicious and the staff are all stellar. I would definitely stay here again and have already given the recommendation to my parents who are planning a visit out to Nepal. One last thing-it’s incredibly quiet which seems impossible with all the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. Love it!

    Katherine2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation environment is very comfortable, clean and tidy ~ Although it is a public toilet, it is also very convenient ~ Quiet to sleep at night, and the bedding is clean; there is a cafe downstairs where you can eat, and there is a handicraft shop. 10% off ha ha ha ha; breakfast is included in the accommodation, breakfast is really delicious, recommend ginger tea ~ ^ ω ^ staff can speak local languages and English; the first day of a taxi and a little conflict with the driver, thanks to The little brother in the store helped solve it ~

    A L-shaped loft with a bed corner, living room, kitchen and bathroom. Access to a spacious roof terrace. Nice location in the heart of Old Patan between Durbar Square and Patan Dhoka;
This top floor loft is located in a restored old Newari House in the historical center of Patan. The house is nested in a courtyard nearby Nagbahal, the Golden Temple and the magical Patan Durbar Square. The neighbourhood is very authentic and traditional.
The Old Patan is a fantastic area to stay in! It is much more authentic and traditional than the tourist-spoiled places of Kathmandu/Thamel and its concrete jungle. • Whilst the location was a little difficult to find we were advised to get our driver to ring and that made finding the house very easy. Super hosts - very friendly BC and great with communications. A very enjoyable stay

  • Dhakhwa house is a lovely, traditional home in the heart of Patan. Patan is an old city oozing with charm and was a much more peaceful choice than Kathmandu. My sister and I stayed on the third floor room. This room will suit anyone who wants basic kitchen facilities because it has a gas stove, fridge and kettle. Also, it has the highest ceiling of the three available rooms. Would recommend for anyone over 5’7. The entire Dhakhwa family were generous and accommodating hosts. We stayed in touch with them throughout our trip to ask for tips. They were quick in responding and making us feel comfortable. It was quite cold when we visited and the house is old/prone to getting chilly. But there are plenty of extra plug-in heaters and blankets in the house. Again the third floor is best for cold weather because there’s an electric blanket made into the bed. It was very beautiful to walk into the courtyard after exploring all day. Thanks for a nice visit to Nepal :) hope to come back again soon!

  • This is a great space in Patan — away from the hustle and bustle of Thamel. The hosts are lovely and live in the building. My one note is that it is quite cold if you come in the winter. So make sure you bring layers— or come during a warmer time of year.

    Tomi2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • One of a kind place. If you plan to visit Kathmandu and the surrounding area for a few days I would highly recommend to stay in its southern neighbor of Patan. The actual house is beautifully redone keeping its true historic charm and run by a family equally as lovely. If I ever make it back, I will stay nowhere else.

    Eric2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Such a jewel in Patan and central to everything. The hosts were so nice and helpful, we followed all their suggestions and think it added so much value to our time in Patan. Highly recommended.

Shanta Ghar-peace home is a rustic natural eco-home in beautiful Madi village behind the Chitwan National Park.A small heaven discovered by Norwegian hippie Mr. Lasse Hanestard who started with his beloved local friend Ramakanta. It is Sal wood home designed by local carpenters in old Nepali traditional way where everything is pure eco: dry red mud floor with Hey carpets & beautiful collection of handicraft. Only Nepali Food served with Nepali hospitality. A Choice of Eco people. Peace "Shanta"
Welcome to Shanta Ghar, which translated from Nepali means “Peace Home”. Located in the heart of Chitwan National Park in Madi Valley, Shanta Ghar Resort is a tranquil haven away from the tourist hustle and bustle and a perfect location from which to explore the colourful and intriguing Chitwan area. Surrounded by jungle rich in wildlife, our guests are able to experience nature while enjoying authentic Nepali family life. Shanta Ghar has an inviting treehouse structure that provides beautiful 360-degree views of rice paddies, sunsets, the jungle and wildlife. Local carpenters constructed Shanta Ghar by hand in the traditional Nepali way, utilizing the famous Sal wood. Hari, owner and operator of Shanta Ghar, makes it his mission to ensure that his guests are happy, comfortable and well taken care of. Guests are invited to join Hari and his family for traditional Nepali meals, and Hari is happy to accommodate a variety of requests from his guests. Shanta Ghar strives to create a relaxing environment; however, the adventure of the jungle is just off our doorstep. We offer jungle treks and jungle camps and can teach you how to cook traditional Nepali food. Of course, you can also just relax and unplug from the craziness of life by enjoying our garden and watching the array of wildlife that visits our property from sunrise to sunset. There are many options for your stay at Shanta Ghar. It is possible to rent a room or even the entire facility. The treehouse structure has one common sitting room and 6 bedrooms: two special room with a connected toilet, and four double rooms with a shared toilet and warm shower. All rooms have French doors with balconies and an outdoor sitting area. In the Stonehouse, we have two round rooms with private bathrooms. Altogether Shanta Ghar Resort can accommodate anywhere from 16-24 people. Breakfast is included in the room price, but all other meals can be ordered for reasonable prices. Shanta Ghar serves traditional home cooked Nepali vegetarian food. All of our ingredients are organic and are grown in our garden or are locally sourced. On special occasions, we can provide local organic meat for you to taste. Our milk and butter are from our own buffalo.
As a family we are very proud of where we live. We wanted to share our beautiful village with tourists. When I started to build Shanta Ghar all of the local workers and my friends thought I was crazy and that nobody would come. Now, they are starting to see the tourists who love to experience life with a real Nepali family and to live among nature and wildlife. Finally, my dream is coming true.
  • Shantha ghar is beautiful. We had a wonderful stay there. The road leading to the place is horrible, but the amazing views rather make up for it. We missed having Ramakanta ji around during our stay, but his son and his wife made sure our stay was very comfortable. The 10 year old lad is amazing and very enterprising - he took us around the area to show us the lush green fields and his school. We also did the hike to the waterfalls in the morning - moderately strenuous, but the jeep driver was very helpful. We were the only ones in this beautiful waterfall and we loved the experience. We had Ramakanta ji's daughter welcome us at the airport at pick up and the jeep waiting to take us to Shanta ghar. I would highly recommend this due to the road conditions. Wifi was available in the house and we had delicious meals cooked by Mrs.Ramakanta for every meal. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed the company of Kale the dog and Soori the cat - they make such a cute duo. Shanta ghar totally lives up to its name - peaceful home!

  • We had a fantastic time at this homestay. Getting there was a little tricky because the house wasn't located where the airbnb map said it would be. We were able to work this out because our taxi driver called Ramakanta for location details, but I would recommend confirming location while you still have wifi or just having Ramakanta pick you up. The house was architecturally stunning, beautifully decorated, and relaxing. We had the best afternoon naps. Ramakanta and his wife were wonderful hosts, constantly making us feel welcomed and making sure we were fed. Ramakanta is someone who is proud of his family and his village. The feeling of positivity was infectious throughout the whole stay. I definitely recommend this location if you are looking to escape the tourist heavy areas and understand Nepali farm life (but while being catered to and with hot showers). Our jungle walks with Ramakanta were the highlight of our whole trip. I personally was looking for a way to experience Chitwan without contributing to any unethical treatment of animals. Ramakanta offered us real and raw exposure to Chitwan. Overall fantastic stay and a perfect addition to our otherwise "on the grid" Nepal vacation.

  • To all travellers of Nepal...you must visit Ramakanta and his family, at their amazing place in Madi village. Around 2 hours outside Chitwan city and 1 hour from Chitwan National park. It is absolutely amazing! Quiet and peaceful, with the sound of the wild jungle in the background. It can be a little difficult to find...but Ramakanta is very helpful and provides both direction (if you come with driver), and pick up for you, at any place nearby Chitwan...so no problem at all. As the city girl I am, I have to compliment Ramakanta and his family for both their great hospitality and patience with me. Ramakanta and his family, is kind, welcoming and extremely helpful, and they care 100% for their visitors. Ramakanta went out of all expectations, to show me the Jungle and the stunning nature of his birthplace. He’s also been a trekking guide in Pokhara and Annapurna for over 10 years, so he’s also very helpful, with good tips of where to go, and what to see in Pokhara and Annapurna. Ramakanta build his eco place all by himself, and everything is homemade. Food is made from lovely fresh vegetables from his eco garden, and you will never leave Ramakantas home hungry, as his lovely wife cooks you the most delicious and tasteful food, and she will always serve you plenty of it. Good tips for visiting Ramakanta...bring very good flip flops! Other than that Ramakanta and his family, provides you everything you’ll need, for a wonderful stay at their place. Dear Ramakanta and family, from my heart, thank you for giving this city girl an amazing adventure, and for an extraordinary memorable experience. Cecilie

  • The landlord is super cute, the male owner is warm and cheerful, hardworking and hardworking, and very careful in small details. The waterfall tour and jeep tour prepared for us are very hard and highly recommended. The charge is reasonable. The hostess's pastry and curry rice won everyone's praise. There is also a recommended chicken every day, curry chicken is too delicious, only 1500 rupees, a serious value. The children of the landlord also left us with a deep image. His family's passionate dog curry is a cold cat. Everything is perfect. Recommended for at least 3 days. The only thing missing is that there is no electric fan, and it is more uncomfortable if you encounter hot weather. Fortunately, we only met one day in three days. The rest of the two days are very cool. Also, there are no mosquitoes here. In short, it is the biggest highlight of our trip to Nepal. Thank you for your kind service. Finally, we bought the curry made by the host. too delicious.

  • Ramakanta’s place is a little bit of heaven on earth. It’s situated in a remote farmers village, a bit difficult to access, bit so worth the effort. It’s very easy to organise a taxi to get there and back. You will see the « true » nepal, and be rewarded with the most peaceful and beautiful place. You will be staying with Ramakanta’s family who will take such good care of you; we had everything we needed and the food was amazing. We did a jeep safari as well for a day which took us in less touristy places of the National Park and allowed us to see a part of the jungle that is still very wild. Don’t hesitate to book this place! You won’t regret it :-)

  • It is the best place to stay for people hwo really want to feel nepal. No Tourist at all and a great jungel Trip. You will not find a better place!

  • We travel with three young kids which means that we have unique needs. Ramakanda was an outstanding host and went out of his way to help us and show us around. Although his Jeep was broken and transportation was a problem because of a holiday, Ramakanda and his lovely family made sure we see the jungle and the country life and made the trip a very special one for us. The rooms are very beautiful and spacious and the outside area is lovely for the kids to run around. The house is remote which gives a unique peek into the local country lifestyle. We deeply recommend this homestay.

    Josh2018-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Charming house in a quiet and relaxing environment. Be careful however, it takes more than 3 hours to reach the accommodation from the Sauraha bus stop. Ramakanta kindly pick you up, for a nice ticket that is only announced the day of departure. A little pity ... This lack of transparency on prices is reflected in the price of meals: the package for the day is interesting, especially since it is difficult to eat elsewhere but the double is requested on departure .. The remoteness of the chitwan park does not allow to consider an excursion on such a short time. The room is comfortable, well equipped, in a beautiful country house, perfect to rest.

Dar Kumari’s Homestay is nestled on the side of a mountain considered sacred to many Nepalese, yet they’ve somehow kept this gem hidden from the mainstream tourist and trekking community. Looking for a true village experience please read our reviews
Although some foreign travellers hear about Panchase, most take the bus directly to the top of the mountain and bypass dozens of spectacular villages dotted along the way. Staying at Dar Kumari’s homestay you will be one of the few travellers to reach beyond the Pokhara tourist bubble and connect with the generous, vibrant and earthly Gurung people as you are welcomed into their community at the foothills of the Himalaya. Dar Kumari’s family have two rooms with three beds available in each private, upstairs bedroom of their two story traditional mudhouse. As the village is relatively untouched by tourism, there are no restaurants or shops nearby. However all meals are included in the cost of the room and Dar Kumari will serve you more food than most people are ever able to eat! Most of what you will find on your plate has come from within 300 metres of their house and the rice from the area is reputed to be some of the best in Nepal. We can accommodate up to six persons as we have two private rooms available with three beds in each. For more than three people, please visit our second listing titled: Village Homestay Panchase - Pokhara - Room 2
Dar Kumari’s Homestay is nestled on the side of a mountain considered sacred to many Nepalese, yet they’ve somehow kept this gem hidden from the mainstream tourist and trekking community. With twin Buddhist and Hindu temples on the peak and a spectacular view of the Annapurna range, Panchase mountain attracts spiritual pilgrims and, once a year, party revellers for the annual Gurung picnic festival.

  • A total immersion in a Nepalese family which welcomes you generously in its daily life and makes you a beautiful place in their family. You will be largely nourished by "Ama" who will ensure that you will not miss anything during your stay. Coming here you should be aware that you will be in an isolated place, totally free from mass tourism (and therefore to be preserved) and that western comfort will be very limited. You have to go there for a natural desire, to discover the real life of this village. We lived there one of our most beautiful human travel experiences and the family of rabindra will remain forever in our hearts. Do not give anything to the children (no candy or money) so as not to encourage begging (even if it sometimes hurts your heart to say no) because it does not help anyone. You can however bring school supplies for the school located in the village.

  • Staying with Rabindra and his family was a truly unique experience. I felt very welcome to their home and community. It’s a very very small village in the mountains with very few habitants and being the tourist there is the exception! Once need to go with open mind and flexible to experience the difference from western and modern world. The house is full of caracter, the room co for table and calm with view to the mountains and sunrise. Food is super tasty with truly organic products from the land. Everything is basic but made with love and caring and you can feel the flavour of it! Even though the family doesn’t speak English (apart of Rabinda), we found ways to communicate and understand each other. No hot shower, no western toilet, no WiFi ... but you have all you need. I had a great time and was the best experience in Nepal!

  • As eager as i was for this stay, i dint wanted to leave. I dont have enough words for Amma :') I was so overwhelmed leaving the place that i couldn't hold back tears. 2 nights with the family especially Amma, helping her in the kitchen, eating and drinking together made me feel like a part of the family. The village itself is soooooo beautiful, waking up to the beautiful view of the sunrise and the clouds is just mesmerizing. Best part of my 2 nights stay was having 10 hours of peaceful sleep. Starting the day at 6 am and going to bed at 8 pm is not a life we get to enjoy in the city. Just looking them do their daily chores is entertaining. The whole family leaves no stones unturned to make you feel loved. I have so much gratitude for the hospitality, it was a once in a lifetime experience. Please give it a try if you are around Pokhara. PS. : I'd advice to hire a car/jeep from pokhara .

  • I stayed with Ma and Rabindra for a few days and I must say that I was touched by all the love and care. Ma kept feeding me with delicious meals (fresh veggies plucked the same day which are all grown organically in their farm) and Raksi to keep warm. The house is in the mountains and has b’ful view of Annapurna range. If you are one of the star gazers, don’t miss to step out once all the lights are switched off. It’s heaven. I wish I had more days to stay with them but would be back again. Definitely recommend.

  • Truly a treasure, Rabindra and his family are such a pleasure to stay with. If you are looking for the true Nepal experience, this is the place. Rest after your trek or have a peaceful retreat from the busy city. My girlfriend and I enjoyed it very much and we wish we had stayed longer!

    Frederik2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • The most amazing place I have stayed in Nepal. Ravindran and his family are so open and friendly and made us feel part of the family. The village is even more beautiful then I could have imagined. The food is simple incredible!!!! And the tea was delicious and always seemed to arrive just as we needed it (and that a big compliment for to Brists) Quick tip for walking there, if you follow the road it takes just over an hour and some beautiful place to stop and take in the view. There is the option to take the steps just after the big waterfall, they are faster but little steep. We walked down them which was a good option.

    Luci2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • My stay was everything I had hoped for! If you want an authentic Nepal experience (like I did), living with a sweet family, please stay here. You won’t regret it. The lovely room provided was so cozy and the views were absolutely beautiful. I felt like I was in heaven. I was fed so much delicious organic food and always provided with water and black tea. I’ve never ate so much lovely food. Thanks Ama for taking care of me! I have to say I’m not much of a hiker so the walk up the mountain to the village was a bit tough for me but well worth it. Rabindra went above and beyond during my stay. The buses were not passing through due to the weather and he met me to help guide me all the way to his home. He also joined me to make sure I made it back to my next stay safely with all the flooding of rivers and roads falling from the extreme rain. I couldn’t have made it back without his help. It was an absolute adventure. Thank you for everything! I hope to be back with friends again!

Beautiful "dolly size" top floor studio with twin beds, bathroom and equipped kitchen. Attached sunny roof terrace with dining space. Located inside Yatachhen house , a beautiful conservation project of Newari architecture- and situated less than 100 meters away from the amazing UNESCO world heritage Patan Durbar Square
The studio is a very charming space composed of twin beds (that can be joined), a bathroom and an equipped kitchen. The great asset of the apartment is its ttached sunny roof terrace with dining space . Located inside Yatachhen house , one of the first successful conservation project of Newari architecture in the Old Patan. I unfortunately caught food poisoning while I was here and Sailesh and team were so helpful in getting me care. Highly recommend - great people and a great flat.

  • I can’t say enough good things about my room at Cosy Nepal. It had character, charm, thoughtful touches, and all the amenities a traveller needs. They provide a brochure full of helpful local tips and were great about answering questions. The staff are all very friendly and made me feel at home. The location was perfect for exploring Patan on foot. Highly recommended! I would happily stay here again.

    Karen2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • This house is beautifully designed and right in the middle of Patan so everything you need is very close by. I didn't interact with the staff much but when I did they were super helpful and on my last day after checking-out they let me use a shower (it was hot) before a long overnight flight. They also arranged a taxi to the airport (and didn't overcharge me!). This is the only place I would stay if I came back to Patan.

    Christopher2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place to stay in Nepal.

Bright and airy two independent rooms’ unit located in front of Kulimha Temple, one minute walk from UNESCO site Patan Durbar Square. Composed of a living room/equipped kitchen and a separate bedroom/study space. Private bathrooms with hot water in both living room and bedroom. This unit is located on the 3rd floor, It is amazingly comfortable and homy. It has view over a garden on the bedroom side (very rare in Patan!!), and over a temple on living room side.
Located in a very authentic and beautiful area, just 100 meters north of UNESCO world heritage Patan Durbar Square Type : 2 independent rooms: a kitchen/living room and a separate bedroom/study room - each with its own bathroom Neighbourhood : Old Patan – Kulimha (next to Newa Chhen and Image Ark and 100 meters away from Patan Durbar Square) Volume : 35m2 Accommodate 1 to 3 people (!! bed of 1m40)- The living room can eventually be turned into a bedroom. Bedroom(s) : 1 Bathroom(s) : 2 Kitchen / Living room : Yes This unit is super lovely, very bright and quiet but it is important to note that the kitchen is totally independent from the bedroom (on the threshold/ common staircase, there is two separate door: living room/ bathroom on the left- Bedroom / bathroom on the right). Some loves that because it is like having a whole floor for one's self and separate spaces are sometimes great when sharing an apartment . But it is worth mentioning as some people could find it weird ;-) Amazing location! • Situated in the heart of Patan historical city center (Kulimha Tole) • Less than 100m away from UNESCO Durbar Square and Golden Temple • 500m away from Patan Dhoka (Patan’s gate) • 20 min ride from Airport • view over a temple in one side and a garden from the other side

  • This flat was perfect to enjoy Kathmandu and be able to relax at night and cook a nice dinner. The space it's super comfortable and the kitchen is really well equipped which is great if you prefer cooking (we do) rather than eating out every day. The area is really nice, full of temples and nice little streets. We definitely recommend this place!

  • The location is ideal. Moments from Patan Durbar Square, with plenty of great little cafes, shops and local eateries close by. Staff were lovely and incredibly quick at responding to communications. Housekeeping staff did a fab job, and always wished me "namaste" with a smile. Apartment is well represented by photos in listing.

This is simply furnished penthouse with private terrace garden in our three storied house. Staying at our place is living like locals. We are located in central Kathmandu with easy access to transportation, stores, heritage sites & tourist center Thamel (5 mints walk). We adopt eco-friendly ways and our place is relatively green and quiet tucked in the lane off the main street. Most houses in the neighborhood are of relatives making it more local, family friendly and welcoming.
This is studio apartment has private balcony with garden. It has got en-suite bathroom and toilet. The apartment has got double-bed, 1 private bath (solar-heated shower and toilet), 1 clothes closet, 1 furnished kitchenette with sink, small refrigerator, cabinet space, and 1-burner stove. Perfect for single person. Kitchenette has necessary utensils, toaster, tea maker, rice cooker. The property is in the residential area in 'Rayamajhi Marg'. Banks, grocery stores and local transportation are all in easy access. The neighborhood is relatively quiet as there are houses of relatives and it is off the main road. The apartment for rental is in the top floor of the 3 stories building with great view and private balcony. We are 2 km from world heritage sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square (south) and Swyambhunath Stupa (west). The popular restaurants and bars of Thamel (tourist center) are in walking distance. Nagarjuna forest. 2.5 km north of the apartment makes a pleasant day hike. We are trying to live eco-friendly way by composting, rain water harvest and roof top gardening, reducing and reusing. We have compost bin for bio-degradable waste which we can use in flowers and few fruit trees we have. The shower water is headed by solar and the passage and street lights are also out of solar panel. We are self sufficient in water for about 5 months collecting rain water with filter. For rest of the year we buy water in a tanker. Kathmandu has huge crisis of water. There are shopping bag to reduce use of plastic bags. We also provide 20 littler drinking water jar which is refillable to reduce small plastic bottles. So staying guests can refill their bottles.
We are registered with Nepal government as homestay. This is like living among locals and best if you are looking for alternate to hotels, want to experience local culture and experience local lifestyle.
  • Wonderful! A great spot close to all the attractions of Thamel but away from the noise.

  • checked on the bucket list, staying in a penthouse. it was a lovely experience to be hosted by Kopila and her family. my room on the terrace (top of the world) was clean and tidy, had all the amenities you could need, a few for instance, warm running water, your cooking space, a bookshelf and a really handy computer table. With so much of natural light coming into the room, It was an amazing experience to wake up to the rising sun. i would highly recommend this listing and it would be my go to for my next trip to nepal. I had the opportunity to interact with Koplia and her family regularly and would like to thank them for all their help and kindness during my stay

  • I loved staying here! Kopila and her family made me feel very welcome—they started the visit with masala tea with the family and offered a family breakfast, too. Kopila’s husband Ravi also gave me lots of great local tips and walked me to Thamel so I wouldn’t get lost. (It’s just a short walk there.) They also responded very quickly to messages. The view from the balcony is nice and the kitchen has everything you’d need for a long-term stay. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • The Duplex in the courtyard is absolutely great. In the backyard away from the busy street and still close to the absolute center of Patan. The apartment itself is really nice and to those who might think about this; The mattress was really good, not too soft and not too hard. We enjoyed having the courtyard, the kitchen and the apartment in general. The location is great, close to both sights, restaurants and everyday life. If you want to visit maybe Thamel it is only a cab ride away. We will any day prefer this area over tourist busy Thamel. Sailesh and the other people we met in connection to the apartment were all extremely friendly and helpful, you need anything, help and advice is close. Communication also worked really well when we sent emails. All in all : We can highly recommend this place.

  • Awesome apartment in a beautiful and quiet old town of Patan. The hosts were super helpful and arranged airport pickup/drop off for us, left luggage, SIM car rental and really good local recommendations (don't miss Yala restaurant, just at the door's step). We will stay with Cosy Nepal again :)

  • My wife and I spent a month at Gusto's and didn't want to leave. Note this review is for Saturn room, not Earth - Earth would be great too but Saturn the best in my opinion. The views from the bedroom, balcony and breakfast area were all sensational and we never grew tired of them. Breakfast was slightly inconsistent but delicious. Local organic coffee, home made chilli chutney, eggs, fruit, potatoes, paratha and more. As you can see in the pictures, there is little privacy in the bathroom. We thought this would bother us but it really wasn't a big deal. Know that the staff speak limited English but they try their best and we thought the service was very good. Cleanliness of the entire place was next level... Even areas most places would ignore seemed to be scrubbed every few days. We only took a taxi twice (less than $3 USD) and chose to walk into the middle of Lakeside Pokhara (20-30 minutes), sharing the roads with cows, horses, buffalo, goats and more. Loved it! There are so many restaurants around the place that we rarely ate at the same place more than once. If you walk the opposite direction to Pokhara, you'll reach Happy Village in 10 minutes, with a bunch more places to eat. Quite honestly, this place made our stay in Pokhara. To wake up every day looking out over the glassy lake was simply amazing. We travel full time and this was one of our best experiences. Thanks to Rana, Mama and Susil - you were all fantastic. Search online for Life Dunn Differently Pokhara to see a video on our time here. The views from the bedroom, balcony and breakfast area were all sensational and we never grew tired of them. • Friendly hospitality and consideration were outstanding. The view is amazing. But the restaurant food doesn't taste good ..

  • We would like to thank rana and his family for such a great organisation for our stay. Everything was on point! Special thanks to Maamaa (the receptionist) for being a wonderful host and helping us with literally every doubt about pokhara. Location was ideal for us as we went for morning jog with those views and till the market was a brisk and short jog. Ps. Breakfast was immaculate .. with amazing views.

  • The rooms are very good and can surpass many hotels. For example, the second Himalayan in Pokhara personally thinks that it is not good. The hotel is not difficult to find on the roadside if it is not on the mountain. The hotel staff is very good. Two stations in black clothes Picking us up on the side of the road Haha is lovely, the restaurant in this hotel is very good, the stuff is very delicious, and the roast chicken makes me never forget

    2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the space & the view. The Saturn room next to us would have boasted better views, to be honest. It is quite a distance from the area where the food and shops are but you can always get a taxi or take a leisurely walk over. Mama & Rana were great hosts and they were extremely helpful. Breakfast at their own restaurant which is above where we were residing was fabulous - both view-wise and food-wise.

    Salz2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a calm oasis just outside of lakeside. You’re treated like a king and the room is as good as it looks. Fabulous views and always a clean space, this place didn’t disappoint. The best thing by far was the service from the staff. They bent over backwards to make sure we were happy and it was the best service we’d had in Nepal. We had to leave really early on our last morning but they made sure to pack us a fresh breakfast for our trip! It’s worth the price for this place and taxis from lakeside are cheap (~300rps) or its a twenty min walk.

Stay at safe and clean place during your stay in Kathmandu! Lazimpat is popular residential area for both foreign and wealthy local people because of its very clean, convenient and safe environment. The city center, Durbar Marg and Thamel, is all located in walking distance. Convenient location, safe area, super clean house with beautiful garden and good foods, any reason to hesitate? ;)

Why gagans cottage? Gagans cottage is an absolute gem, Can have a full view of Kathmandu valley from nature and quite environment. Fully decorated on the basic of foreigners choice and flower pots around bathtub. 24 hours electricity, internet and hot water, A lot of hiking roughts, Sun rise and Sun set,
Cottage is located in a pristine environment at the proximity of Shivapuri National Park, with view of Eastern and Southern Part of Kathmandu Valley. Sunrise, seasonal birds and butterflies, starting points of many hikes and peaceful environment, are the attraction of the area. My cottage is super cosy, newly renovated with beautiful materials and all modern amenities
peaceful place and helpful neighbours , community of Tamang people.
  • The cottage is located in very beautiful areas. I enjoyed the lovely mornings and the splendid view. Gagan and his family are very friendly and helpful. I will definitely recommend if you like to be in an isolated authentic place. I wil come back!

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Gagan's cottage. The location is perfect if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We stayed for 12 days (probably longer than most) and Gagan made sure we had everything we needed. He delivered water, dinners and cleaning services were provided. Gagan arranged our pickup and drop off at the airport and all in all was really helpful in helping us find our way. The view is incredible and faces the Kathmandu valley and it gets the perfect amount of sun in the morning. The cottage is lovely and our stay was absolutely perfect.

    Jason2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re staying in Kathmandu, Gagan’s place is a must! Due to an issue with the water tank, Gagan moved us to his bigger cottage in the same area so we did not end staying at this exact place. What I will say is pack your things in a backpack as there is a trek to the cottage. Gagan has WiFi and hot water! Gagan and his family are extremely hospitable, setting up everything that we wanted to do, giving us tips and even running up groceries to us from their store or even free pain killers for my headaches. From the village (which I believe is about a 10 minute walk from this cottage), you can take a bus or taxi to Thamel which is only about 30 minutes. My friend and I, 24 & 28, loved the scenic, peaceful and serene location of Gagan’s cottage. Staying with Gagan also allows you to get to know Nepali people and culture. We were greeted by the same faces regularly. Due to the ease of getting to Kathmandu central and the hospitality of Gagan and his family, I will be staying here again when I’m back in Kathmandu.

    Thea Christine2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful views from a cottage on the edge of the city. Gagan will deliver food to you on the nights you don't feel like going out. Hot water wasn't as hot as I'm used to, so bring baby wipes. Walk up the hill from where the car has to park can be a little tiring, but if you're fit enough for it, it's worth it. 100% worth a stay. If I find myself in Kathmandu again, I will be getting the same cottage.

    Bobby2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • excellent cottage with panoramic view of Kathmandu valley.. very helpful host and very well stocked cottage. a bit far from commercial area but very quite and peaceful.

    Muruganand2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Exciting place. Well, except roads being still built . One of the best location and view to the valley and so peaceful as ever .. calm and beautiful

    Dinto2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • It’s really good view, good house and good hiking! We ordered food from Gagan, it was very tasty. We had two perfect days in this house!

    Ksenia2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Gagan's place was a piece of paradise not too far from the city center. High in the hills, you have a beautiful view overlooking the city. We especially loved the bathtub and green plants everywhere. Bed was very comfortable and Gagan even provides a food delivery service for a fee which was extra nice considering his cottage is a bit far from provisions -- and we were exhausted. He also brought us eggs, toast and coffee for breakfast. He was a very kind soul and I'd love to stay here again. Highly recommend!!!

A small room with attached bathroom, in the heart of old Patan. Book there if you want to enjoy an authentic Newari House
Small bedroom (single occupancy only) with modern bathroom and access to a friendly family kitchen. The room is located in a restored old Newari House. A good value for money and the chance of living in Prakash and Premila’s place in the old Patan! !! Low ceilings . If you are tall you may not want to book here for a long period !! Please note that the room is located next to the family/ shared kitchen: wonderful for a lively experience and to get to meet your hosts and other guests but be aware that it is not the quietest room of our listings.
The Old Patan is a fantastic area to stay in. It is much more authentic and traditional than the tourist-spoiled places of Kathmandu and its concrete jungle. There are many hidden treasures to discover: hindu temples, Buddhist stupas, courtyard, secret paths, monasteries, local food spots... The vibrant local life of the Newars (the original ethnic group of the Kathmandu Valley) guarantees you a very rich cultural experience.
  • Most appreciation to Cosy Nepal and hosts for their support in extending my stay while I recover from the common cold. Very much recommended.

    Jack2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for authentic local experience in Kathmandu and interested in Newari culture and Architecture this is the place to be. It’s affordable, close to amenities and Patan Durbar Square.

    Jack2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Just a few minutes' walk from Patan Durbar Square, this Airbnb provided a welcoming and comfortable stay. Prakash was a kind host and served as a knowledgeable resource.

    Daniel2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • The house is around a hundred years old and is beautiful. There's a roof that's airy and offers a lot of sunlight. The rooms are well furnished and have everything you need to be comfortable. The ceilings are low, so that might be something a tall person needs to look out for but apart from that, it's lovely to be hosted by Prakash at this house. It's located in a beautiful old street in Lalitpur, very close to Patan Durbar Square and a lot of restaurants that serve traditional Newari meals, which was a great highlight.

    Yvonne2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Room in accordance with the presentation. The Newaris style property is set back from the street. Accessible by a small covered walkway and an inner courtyard. The location is ideal, just steps from the golden temple, Patan Dubar Square. Close to many tourist and local restaurants, cafes, shops. The hosts are available, discreet and extremely kind. I recommend without hesitation.

    Bruno2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend to stay here to enjoy old house with comfortable atmosphere

    Kt2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The room is just as pictured though a bit smaller than I expected (probably because of the low ceilings). There are three windows that open to the home’s inner courtyard. It’s quiet and protected from street noise. Prakash was able to supply a fan to help cool and provide airflow for the space. All the local recommendations provided were great. Staff at the Cosy Nepal office were friendly and helpful when I stopped by to ask for directions one day. Prakash and his wife arranged a very early morning breakfast and transportation the airport on the day of my departure which I really appreciated. Next time I visit, I’ll plan on taking a cooking class and maybe a walking tour with them. It was a lovely home stay with great hospitality and plenty of privacy.

  • I made the booking for my advisor. She had a great time at dhakhwa house - the owners were super helpful and knowledgeable about local places.

  • Space has multiple rooms, shared with other guests. Depending on the room you get, you might have to share a common bathroom. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is also a cafe (and eco shop) at the ground floor, but we did not get to try it, because they are not open on Saturdays. However, do drop by the Boudha Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings as they sell great local food, produce and merchandise. Location is about 15-20 drive from the airport (at night) and a nice walk away from Boudha Stuppa. However, it might be a tad far from Thamel, if that is what you are looking for. Also try Ramsterdam Cafe at the corner of the street for nice live music and ambience. There are 2 lovely and adorable dogs on the property, do have a chance to play with them. The host also cooked breakfast for us on our last day since we had to catch an early bus and there were no other breakfast options around, what a nice gesture :) thank you!

  • Passang is a really great host. He taught us great places during our stay. The guesthouse is very clean. Two cute dogs welcome us. Staying in Boudha has been a very good experience for us.

  • Very stylish and clean place. Very friendly and helpful staff. 2 sweet and energetic dogs. Very close to the Boudha stupa and convenient location. They actively support the Nepal local community and is advocate in protecting the environment and helping girls in Nepal. Would definitely recommend.

  • My stay st the Ananda Tree House was special to me because its a very cosy and beautiful place with a nice little eco cafe where you can have delicious breakfast every morning. Pasang is a nice and helpful host and I enjoyed my time a lot. Also the location is great if one is interested in the tibetian stupa boudha, which is only 7 min walk. I can recommend this place to stay.

  • The whole stuff was very friendly! We had to leave very early so we couldn’t get breakfast but they prepared us the evening before a nice snack :) They have heater in the room and we also could take hot shower (you don’t have hot water everywhere in Kathmandu) It was a nice stay!

  • The location is good, next to the Israeli embassy, it is a detached house with a small courtyard for drinking afternoon tea. The first floor is the restaurant, which has a lot of food to eat, and there is also a complimentary breakfast. The room has a separate toilet, the room is very neat and clean, and there is a heater (gas heating, a bit magical). There are also very warm tips and maps. The currency exchange here is the highest we have ever seen.

It had all the amenities available: hot shower, clean bed, heater, etc. it also had a cafe attached to the airbnb which provided us with great food and free breakfast. The breakfast was PERFECT. It was the best breakfast we had here in Kathmandu. Overall, it was one of the best stays we had from Airbnb and it concluded our Nepal trip on a super positive note. Stay here! You wont regret it 😊

The Garden House is beautifully decorated, spacious, full of light, and very well equipped. Everything worked perfectly, and we truly enjoyed our stay to the fullest. Sailesh, Sohan & Nigen are wonderful hosts – very helpful, easy to communicate with, and quick to respond. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality! Hopefully, we will meet again soon.

  • Absolutely perfect stay. Cosy Nepal has hospitality down pat! Staff were welcoming and communicative, check-in was easy and informative, they helped arrange transport to/from Kathmandu airport, and provided a lovely packet with a map and recommendations for eating/exploring/shopping in the area. Apartment was sparkling clean, charming, and the bed was crazy comfortable. Coffee, tea, s/p, and oil were provided in the well appointed kitchen, and there was a bottle of water waiting in the bedroom at arrival. • Wonderful room with a great atmosphere. The towels were lovingly decorated, handmade soap in the bathroom and a great host. The price is quite high for the circumstances but we would always come back here.

  • Such a beautiful space! A welcome home in the busyness of Patan. I love the details, such as the loose leaf tea and ground coffee. What a homely touch. The new beautiful locally handmade soap bars are gorgeous. Once you visit, you will keep coming back.

  • A friend had recommended Cosy Nepal, and so my husband and I decided to stay there while in Kathmandu/Patan. The house is a traditional, beautiful Newari house that has modern amenities. The hosts are very friendly, helpful and communicative, and the location is perfect, just a few blocks from Durbar Square. We would definitely stay there again, and would recommend it to others traveling to the area.

    Monica2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place! The apartments are cosy but spacious and the Newari house is perfectly refurbished with simple but stylish interiors. It is very quiet as it is in a courtyard and the Kathmandu traffic just disappears once you are at home. It is sparky clean and there is also a laundry service for the guests. The kitchen and the common space will make you feel at home if you will need to stay for medium to kind term periods in Kathmandu. All the team are super friendly, easy to contact and always happy for a chat. Not to mention it is in the heart of Patan, so you will also have the charme and life of that amazing place. Highly recommend!

    Francesca2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • The space is large enough for two. Situated next to Durbar Square is a win. There is also a pantry where you can cook if you're into that sort of thing. Walking distance to pretty much everywhere in that area. Definitely get tips from the people running the place. Shout out to Sohan! Kathmandu was not our favourite city in Nepal but your accommodation made up for it plenty.

Enjoy our porch with views of the Himalayas, and our morning sun hillside porch- perfect for early morning yoga. Bathroom is separate and simple but with running water.
    1) Fabulous walks and mountain biking straight from the house- to Changu Narayan, Sanku. 2) Hike west or south-west to North through beautiful Tamang village 3) To the West village of Katike, then continue on North-west to Jashinging Pauwa. Its a kind of semi-rural Tamang village. 4) Walk to Sakhu, the old trading town between Nepal and Tibet, we suggest you do this on your departure day.
  • The location is beautiful.

  • Very nice place on the hill, secluded from other hotels and houses. Good food. Great hospitality.

  • We (family of 4) stayed here for a couple of days . We enjoyed the quietness, away from the strip of hotels, and we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings with view on the Himalaya. Dhakpa, the housekeeper, prepared delicious meals for us and was super helpfull. We would certainly recommend & we hope to come back some day!

    Annelies2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Such a gorgeous cottage in the middle of nowhere. Dhakpa is the sweetest man and the BEST cook. We had the most delicious breakfast and supper every night. We struggled to get organised for lunch but ended up going to Country Villa one day which was really good but q expensive. We were with two small babies and actually found it fine as long as you’re happy to carry them up the steep steps. At the house itself as long as you put a firm “no ladder” rule it’s perfectly child friendly and nice garden to play in. The bathroom is separate but his didn’t matter and because it was so cold washing wasn’t appealing but again this didn’t matter . Can’t thank you enough - Daisy, Bill, Dexter and Oswald

    Daisy2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Carroll's place is located in a beautiful, picturesque area in Nagarkot . We enjoyed long hikes and the surroundings. Would definitely come back to get away for a few days :)

    Dan2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our fourth time back and the place was great as always. A real gem!

    Robert2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a great place for travelers who wants to stay away from the city and prefer tranquility . It’s all about nature and lovely view of mountains on clear days from the property . The food was very testy and thanks to Dhakpa’s for that and his hospitality .

Spacious studio Apartment in Kwalkhu Chowk in the heart of the beautiful historical Patan (50 meters away from Patan Durbar Square & the Golden Temple) - Balcony House Apartment is set in an amazingly renovated Rana house with authentic wooden balconies, well equipped kitchen, queen size bed, working space. It has capacity to host 2 people very comfortably with possibility to add an extra bed
Balcony House is the unique renovated old style Newari House built in such a way adding some nice modern features without compromising the traditional vibes of past. It consists of one queen size bed, well equipped kitchen, private bathroom with 24hrs hot water, comfortable sofa to enjoy some time watching TV , study/working table, high speed internet surfing. Also, there is a nice little balcony to view over the street out side.
Staying here, you will be situated in the extreme heart of the historical Patan. At equal distance (50 m!) from both the Golden Temple and the amazing Patan Durbar Square. You can't find more authentic and traditional neighbourhood; Once you have discover the old Patan, you will never want to stay in Thamel again! When staying in this part of town you are surrounded by Hindu temples, Buddhist stupas, monasteries , local food spots and hidden courtyards with secret paths. None of that has disappeared from the earthquake ;-) The vibrant local life of the Newars (the original ethnic group of the Kathmandu Valley) guarantees you a very rich cultural experience.
  • Very nice apartment on the first floor, very near to Patan’s Durbar Sq. It’s location is great, in the middle of the buzzling city life (be aware that you will hear noises from the street and especially from dogs at night). Everything I needed was available in the apartment. The hospitality of Nigen, Sailesh and Sohan is just perfect. I had (in my opinion) many questions about the area and all, but it was never a problem. All questions were quickly answered. Can fully recommend the place. I wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thanks for a great stay in a beautiful city!

  • A good location and very nice apartment with great facilities, the only issue was the constant building work and hammering in the apartments next door all day. Overall a great experience though

    Kevin2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Check-in was easy, and even if the air conditioner breaks down at night, the response is excellent. There are special considerations such as coffee, tea and cookies. Once in a week stay, cleaning was done. Thank you

  • This apartment has a great location, it is cozy and has all the needed utilities. It’s comfortable and the staff was great. Would stay here again, no doubt.

This sunny Penthouse is in Thamel, Kathmandu. 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Full Kitchen, Living Area & 2 Terraces. Close to nightlife, restaurants, pubs/bars, shopping & entertainment. A modern dwelling inside a beautiful Neo Classical/Newar fusion building. Ample light, lots of space, ideal location & includes all modern comforts. Great value for money, ideal for couples, friends and families. We have 9 excellent apartments in Thamel on Airbnb. Message us if don't find dates in this one.
Overall Space My wife and I intended our two-bedroom Apartment to be a place where we could spend time with family and friends. It was lovingly put together to suit our contemporary tastes. Real wood was used for flooring and we installed floor to ceiling sliding door/windows to take advantage of light and draw in ample sunshine. We expect guests to really enjoy the space. Eat breakfast on the sunny 4th floor terrace or savor a great lunch on the rustic but sturdy dining table or enjoy dinner and drinks with friends/family in the Living/Dining area. Its all possible. Our apartment is not part of a hotel or a serviced apartment. We're simply, a fully furnished apartment for rent. Therefore we have not squeezed everything into maximizing the number of rooms to increase revenue. Here in our apartment what you get is plenty of space – a precious commodity in cramped Thamel! Instead of booking two puny hotel rooms, you could spend some quality time at our 1300 sq. ft. (including two terraces) two-bedroom apartment. But be aware that because it is a tourist district, there will be some road traffic and ambient noise. Building The current building (built in 2010), a neo-classical and Newari fusion, was constructed in the same spot and in the same design spirit of an old house commissioned by my grandfather over a 100 years ago. The building is designed by Nepal's top architect, Mr. Arun Pant and constructed by an ‘A' class company. It has been designed to withstand massive earthquakes. The building suffered no damage after the devastating earthquake of April 2015. A thorough check by structural engineers revealed no damage at all. The ground floor of the building houses four shops catering to tourists. You can buy Cashmere shawls, Kashmiri handicraft and metal crafts. I'm sure they will give you a good discount if you mention that you stay on the top floor ☺ The first floor house a travel agency, the second floor is also a two-bedroom apartment listed on Airbnb as "Soundproof 2BHK Thamel Apartment." The third floor is another 2BHK Apartment listed on Airbnb as "Neo Modern 2BHK Thamel Apartment". The apartment is on the 4th and 5th floors of the building. There are no other floors above the 5th floor of the apartment. Bedrooms The air-conditioned 4th floor master bedroom has a queen size double bed, full size wardrobe, real wood flooring and an en suite bathroom with running hot/cold water, western style WC, hand-held toilet spray as well as an electric geyser. The air-conditioned 5th floor bedroom is connected via a small internal real wood staircase. It has a custom-made queen size bed, a study table, a wardrobe, real wood flooring a connecting bathroom with running hot/cold water, western style WC and hand-held toilet spray. The bedroom has a full bank of sliding aluminum windows facing east and south. Suffice to say, it's like an eagle's nest with sunshine and natural light streaming in all day. It is a perfect place to coop up the entire day with a paperback thriller. Kitchen A few steps up after entering the apartment leads you to an open kitchen with a cute breakfast bar. The kitchen has all the amenities you would require to prepare most meals. It is intelligently designed to enable you to cook, store and clean in as little time as possible. Items in the Kitchen: • 4-ring gas hob • Gas cylinders (located on a ledge outside kitchen) • Induction Cooker • Exhaust Hood • Storage cabinets • French Press • Water Jar and Dispenser • Fridge • Microwave • Toaster • Crockery • Wine Glasses • Beer Glasses • Coffee Mugs • Cutlery • Cooking Utensils • Ingredient and food containers • Hot water heater/dispenser Living / Dining Area Adjoining the kitchen is our favourite area – the Living and Dining area (air-conditioned) is where we like to spend most of our time while in the apartment. There are two huge banks of floor to ceiling sliding aluminum door/windows on the south and west sides which lets in a ton of light and plenty of sunshine. The windows can also be fully shaded by rolling down the bamboo blinds. The entire floor is also made of real wood. The rustic dining table and benches are made from old reclaimed pinewood that has a great deal of character. The sofa set is styled on the classic Corbusier sofas but made locally by non-sofa craftsmen. The coffee table is made of actual 100-year-old wooden beams cut to size. A modern Tibetan rug frames the area. Terraces There are two terraces. The 4th floor terrace is a smaller terrace perfect for stepping out of the Living/Dining area for a breather. You could also lean your elbows on the retaining wall and observe life as it happens in Thamel below. The 5th floor terrace is larger and wraps around the bedroom. It is great for a small get together. It affords great views towards the western hills surrounding the valley and you can catch a great sunset almost everyday in the winter. Both terraces have terracotta tiled floors. Amenities: We have invested in Solar Panels and large Batteries as back up to run most things within the apartment. The back up power enables lights in Living/Dining Area, Kitchen, Bedrooms, Internal Staircase, Terraces and Bathrooms. It also powers the Wi-Fi, TV, Satellite TV, DVD, Fridge and almost all power sockets. Installed Units/Amenities: • Solar Water Panels and Storage Tank • Solar Panel and Battery Based Electricity Back Up • 32" Flat Panel LED TV • Satellite TV with all major news, sports and entertainment channels • Music System • DVD Player • 5 MBPS Fibre Optic Wi-Fi • Samsung Washing Machine • Iron / Iron Board • Vacuum Cleaner • Water Pressure Pump (So that your showers and tap water comes out full force and not a mere trickle) • Hair Dryer and Basic Toiletries • Mosquito Repellent Units • Yoga Mat
Overview The apartment building is within the core Thamel area and on the main street. It is also accessible by taxi, which is how you get here the first time with your luggage. But later we encourage you to get off at the main Thamel entrance and walk a few minutes to the apartment and take in the spirit of the lively tourist hub. Step out of the Apartment courtyard and you're right in the middle of the action. Street lined eclectic shops, multi cuisine restaurants, travel agents, trekking agents, spas and bars are right outside.
  • Thank you for the awesome experience!

  • I stayed with my wife and one year old child. First of all, the location is outstanding. The rooms have the same space as the suites at the hotel. The room was a stylish space where you could feel the warmth of wood, and it was a wonderful place to be able to shine (paint) whatever you were doing. ☆ I stay with my family. (I, My wife, My son) Anyway, location is perfect. You can reach center of Thamel area by 5minutes walk. The rooms are completely clean and stylish.Especially.And the living room is the best place for relax with my family. It was the great experience !!

  • Great place - very centrally located with tons of food and shopping around. The guys at the cafe at the entrance were super helpful and brought dinner up to our apartment one evening when we were super tired. We will definitely stay here when we come again - they were super responsive (at our door within 5-10 min) when we had an issue getting the hot water to work. Thank you for a wonderful stray!! Namaste!

  • Mala and Suba's two storey penthouse is an oasis in the midst of a crazy part of Kathmandu - Thamel. Their 4th/5th storey penthouse is hidden on one of the busiest streets of Thamel at the entrance ce of Cafe Mitra (the best cafe for breakfast and dinner if you are from anywhere but Nepal or even if you are local!). It was a hike up the flights of stairs, but we are not in good shape! Once inside the door, we immediately felt that we had picked a haven for our two nights. Everything we needed - just a couple, this apparent has two bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as rooftop entertaining or dining. Equipped with large screen TV and satellite as well as WiFi, we felt that we were able to stay in touch with our business concerns in Australia while exploring the labyrinth of streets and cafes of Thamel in Kathmandu. When I had a medical emergency, Mala came to our rescue and also recommended a driver to take us from the Appartment on our departure to another place in Kathmandu for our conference. I can't thank Mala and her team enough and we would recommend her place to every single person who is looking for better than a hotel! Perfect hosts and perfect space. Thank you so much for everything.

  • Overall a great stay. The highlights were the staff and the good wifi. Location wise it for me it was ideal just behind UN House - a 2-3 minute walk. The breakfasts was really good, you have a choice of a communal table or outside in the garden. It was cold during my stay so Jason gave me a gas heater which heated up the room really well. Jason has lots of local knowledge and provided me with some great tips. Travel is his business and he and his team work very hard on behalf of their customers. The only down side was a neighbour's yapping dog which woke me early most mornings. Bring ear plugs.

  • We had such a great stay at this place. The room was beautiful, spacious and clean and the house and garden was really nice as well. The host Jason was very helpful and present which was really nice and appreciated!

  • A great experience. The hospitality was fantastic. The staff were super attentive and went the extra mile - very helpful. The room and home was just as advertised. The location was convenient for seeing Patan. We would definitely stay there again. At night the fan was helpful to provide white noise to drown out the construction next door. Jason was quick to arrange drivers and taxis, offer recommendations, whatever we needed.

Thamel is the main tourist hub of Kathmandu, Nepal. The streets are teeming with life. But it can also be a bit noisy. That's why our apartment has double windows for soundproofing – probably the only apartment in Thamel with this feature. Using high end imported materials, the soundproofing is more than adequate for a peaceful stay inside (100% soundproofing is not possible). But that's just the start. This amazing apartment is on the second floor of a beautiful Neo Classical / Newari fusion building. The two bedrooms have two classic bay windows and seating so that you can observe life as it happens in Thamel without the dust and noise! It also has a spacious Living/Dining area with all amenities and a fully functional kitchen. Our apartment is not part of a hotel or a serviced apartment. It is simply, a fully furnished apartment for rent. Therefore our spaces are generous – a precious commodity in cramped Thamel! Thamel, the most happening places in Kathmandu is 2.5 km from Baluwatar. It is a great place to get your souvenir shopping done as well as eat at some amazing restaurants. Thamel is often distinguished by its narrow alleys that will often be too crowded with bicycles, motorcycles and of course the pedestrians. It also acts as the pre-base camp for mountaineers. It has a wide range of mountaineering gear shops, foreign money exchange booths, travel agencies, various pubs, clubs and nightlife. US Embassy within 2 km Tribhuvan International Airport 5.3km

I have stayed in quite a few BnBs in the same area but this was by far the best one and it exceeded expectations. Highly recommended. I also wanna thank the house keeper 'Hira', who was at your service at any given time. Definitely going to stay there whenever I visit Kathmandu from now on.

  • Great place to stay in Kathmandu. I stayed for a week and it was lovely to find such a clean studio in a busy city. The location is a short cab ride from Thamel (the main tourist area). However, there are several good restaurants around the studio. I highly recommend the farmers' markets on Saturday mornings at Le Sherpa (https://lesherpa.com.np/farmer-s-market). Highly enjoyable and not far from the studio. Awesome rooftop terrace, great facilities in the studio and good water pressure. Thanks, Purnima, for making my stay in Kathmandu so comfortable.

    Rochelle2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Purnima's place was fantastic, the view from the top floor, the ease of access to the balcony roof, our security guard. Almost everything made our stay great, and the area in Baluwatar is close to restaurants, grocery stores, and cafe's all around. Definitely recommend for a longer stay outside of the busyness of Thamel!

  • Clean quiet comfy. Easy access to everything. I would happily recommend this to anyone who asks me.

    Bhava2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is the cleanest and safest place in Kathmandu in the consulate area. The landlord and the housekeeper are very enthusiastic. There is a local supermarket nearby, which is convenient for you to buy your own food. A house worth recommending.

    2019-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • Purnima’s place was so amazing!! The cleanest and most comfortable place we stayed in Nepal. It makes such a difference to come back to a cozy apartment and we were so happy we chose this spot. It’s so worth the cheap cab into the center of the city. There are even lots of really nice and reasonably priced restaurants in the area. 100% recommend to anyone!!

  • It's a great place to stay in Kathmandu. Purnima provided everything we asked, communication was quick and smooth. The apartment has access to a spacious rooftop with an amazing view. Close to local stores and restaurants. Highly recommend this place.

Composed of a huge kitchen/living room, a master bedroom with its attached sunny roof terrace as well as another double bed mezzanine room, It can comfortably hosts 4 to 5 people. Give it a try, live like a king!

  • For the pick up, please ask for a bus, which is 10 Dollars more ( total 25.-) but otherwise you end up in a mouse box of car, which is not worth to speak about. The check in and out is super easy and they are very helpfull with the luggage. The place is right in the center of Patan and you can walk to a lot of places to see within minutes. We would recommend to bring some ear plugs because of the traffic, yelling dogs in front of the house and monkeys jumping on the roof in the night. The place itsself is very spacious and totally clean. It has all that you need but we must say, that the living room was very cold although we turned on the 2 air-conditions to heat it up. The room is just too big for only 2 aircons. Upstairs in the bedroom it was warm enough. The bed was very good and long enough even for my 2 meters. But they were also the problem in some cases, because it is very easy to bang your head upstairs, if you are too tall. Also in the bathroom we would recommend a bigger mirror or to hang it higher because in the moment it is just not for people over 170cm...)) In the bathroom and the toilette room is only cold water exept in the shower. If there is any problem, they are very quick and solve it in minutes of time.. After all we can recommend this place.

  • Stylish, tranquil apartment in a great location. Homely touches and personal greeting from hosts made us feel very welcome. A great base to explore the streets and eateries of Patan. Would love to return.

  • We simply loved the accommodation. As the other reviewers have mentioned, the location could not have been any better. Just a couple of minutes to the gorgeous Darbar Square and with many restaurants near by. The place is full of character and it was very comfortable. The team was very responsive and Sailesh took great care of us. Overall a fantastic stay. These are the kind of accommodations that make me always want to use AirB&B

    Rupam2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Just as advertised, a great place in a great location. Best stocked kitchen I have seen in a B&B, helpful hosts, classy furniture, faultless amenities, useful local tips and a huge space with quaint balconies. The team that runs the place are quick to respond, were ready to help with any requests we had and were very pleasant. Couldn’t have wished for a better stay! Thanks a lot to all of you!

Thamel is the main tourist hub of Kathmandu, Nepal. The streets are teeming with life. And everything is literally within a minute of this apartment. But that's just the start. This amazing apartment is on the third floor of a beautiful Neo Classical / Newari fusion building. The two bedrooms have two classic bay windows and so that you can observe life as it happens in Thamel without the dust and noise! It also has a spacious Living/Dining area with all amenities and a fully functional kitchen. Our apartment is not part of a hotel or a serviced apartment. It is simply, a fully furnished apartment for rent. Therefore our spaces are generous – a precious commodity in cramped Thamel! Instead of booking two puny hotel rooms, you could spend some quality time at our 800 sq. ft. two-bedroom apartment. But be aware that because it is a tourist district, there will be some road traffic and ambient noise. The Building The current building (built in 2010), a neo-classical and Newari fusion, was constructed in the same spot and in the same design spirit of an old house commissioned by my grandfather over a 100 years ago. I'm sure they will give you a good discount if you mention that you stay above ☺ The first floor house a travel agency, the second floor is a two-bedroom apartment also listed on Airbnb as "Soundproof 2BHK Thamel Apartment". On the third floor is this two-bedroom apartment. On the top two floors is a beautiful contemporary two-bedroom penthouse also listed on Airbnb as "Contemporary 2BHK Thamel Penthouse." Bedrooms The air-conditioned bedrooms have queen size double bed, large comfortable mattress, wardrobe, study table/chair, real wood parquet flooring and bathroom with running hot/cold water, western style WC, hand-held toilet spray. The master bedroom has an en suite bathroom while the second bedroom has an adjoining bathroom. Kitchen The kitchen has all the amenities you would require to prepare any meal. It is intelligently designed to enable you to cook, store and clean in as little time as possible. Items in the Kitchen: • 4-ring gas hob • Gas cylinders • Exhaust Hood • Storage cabinets • French Press • Water Jar and Dispenser • Fridge • Microwave • Toaster • Crockery • Wine Glasses • Beer Glasses • Coffee Mugs • Cutlery • Cooking Utensils • Ingredient and food containers • Hot water heater/dispenser Living / Dining Area The open Living / Dining area (air-conditioned) has a large bank of windows on the west side which lets in a ton of light and plenty of afternoon sunshine. The windows can also be fully shaded by rolling down the blinds. The real wood dining table with a hanging dome lights provide a great atmosphere to chitchat with family or guests over dinner and wine. You can also unwind on the comfortable leather sofa and watch a great movie or catch the latest news on the TV that has a satellite connection with over 70 channels including most of the popular news, entertainment and sports programming. Amenities: We have invested in Solar Panels and large Batteries as back up to run most things within the apartment. The back up power enables lights in Living/Dining Area, Kitchen, Bedrooms and Bathrooms. It also powers the Wi-Fi, TV, Satellite TV, DVD, Fridge and almost all power sockets. Installed Units/Amenities: • Solar Water Panels and Storage Tank • Solar Panel and Battery Based Electricity Back Up • 32" Flat Panel Samsung LED TV • Satellite TV with all major news, sports and entertainment channels • Music System • DVD Player • 5 MBPS Fibre Optic Wi-Fi • Samsung Washing Machine • Iron / Iron Board • Hair Dryer and Basic Toiletries • Mosquito Repellent Units • Yoga Mat
  • It's a super nice stay! I only stay 2 nights, I wish I could've stay longer! The location is perfect, restaurant, mini market, shopping center are all walking distance. As you might know, Nepal's electricity is not that good, but this apartment already has backup for all those things. There's a few problems thing about the water, but Subu & Mala are quick to response. The kitchen is super complete, you definitely can cook anything here. The downside is it's located on third floor, so if you bring heavy luggage, be prepared. And, we need more hooks in the bathroom! But everything else is just perfect. It's a perfect place to stay post/pre hike. Thank you Subu & Mala for being soo helpful.

  • I really enjoyed my stay. Great location with so many things to see and do. The property shared a courtyard with Cafe Mitra that I enjoyed having a latte and dessert after a long day of sight seeing. Saturday night there was a live band that played music until 10:00pm. I wish I could of stayed longer.

Located in Dhakhwa House in the heart of Old Patan, the flexible unit (2 bedrooms, one bathroom) will be your get away from the bustle of Kathmandu. It is a great base to discover the valley and enjoy the Newari hospitality of Prakash and Pramila. Be aware the low ceiling!
Flexible Unit: two rooms and one bathroom, all linked together (all private!). Ideal for a family with kids or for three friends travelling together. Perfect setting to share the same accommodation while remaining independents. !! Low ceilings . If you are very tall you may not want to book here for a long period !! It is located in a restored old Newari house called Dhakhwa House, in the heart of the historical center of Patan, very close to Durbar Square, Nag Bahal and the Golden Temple.
The Old Patan is a fantastic area to stay in. It is much more authentic and traditional than the tourist-spoiled places of Kathmandu/ Thamel and its concrete jungle. There are many hidden treasures to discover: hindu temples, Buddhist stupas, courtyard, secret paths, monasteries, local food spots... The vibrant local life of the Newars (the original ethnic group of the Kathmandu Valley) guarantees you a very rich cultural experience.
  • Prakash and Pramila were exceptional about making us feel welcome and getting us situated in Patan! I highly recommend staying in Patan. The town is rich with history and art. Although there are plenty of amenities for tourists it is much calmer and easier to navigate then Kathmandu. Dahkwa house is A lovely oasis in the middle of the town. It is quiet and peaceful yet near to everything you would need. The hosts were exceptional!

  • We had a wonderful stay with our hosts! I would recommend it to anyone going to Patan. The neighbourhood is quiet and central at the same time. Thank you for your hospitality Prakash.

    Scott2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • It is a beautifully renovated and decorated apartment, a small haven of peace and silence where the street noise is erased, a cozy cocoon ideal for resting on the rugged Nepali roads. Thanks to Prakash and his family, you feel right at home. But beware of the ceilings if you are tall.

  • WOW, just wow, it’s way better than we imagined it, the area, the place itself, the hospitality of the host “Prakash”. first we thought after exhausting trip to pokhara to kathmandu it will be just another day same same vibes, but when we got to the place, the real vibes came out, very authentic, good vibes ,stylish and all. we are so amazed about the place, its like the soul of nepal is in the place. location, tourist spots and cafe are very near to the place. it’s like we’re not in kathmandu when at home. Prakash our host is very very hospitable, the first smile we saw on him until the very last day of our day in ktm , same smile , felt like we’re really at home and at peace. His very informative and i think a celebrity too.haha. highly recommended to anyone to who will stay in patan. will surely comeback. thankyou so much for accomodating us. Anything you wanna know about the history, culture of nepal this is the right guy “Mr.Prakash” all in all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our home is an extremely peaceful part of Kathmandu where you can feel at home with our family. We have excellent room with a private rooftop penthouse with bathroom attached, which have hot and cold water. There is free WIFI, nice forests nearby for small hikes, and not far either, the famous Monkey Temple. Breakfast is complimentary, otherwise both Kitchen and dining are shared.
We provide a great environment staying with a Nepali family. The rooftop penthouse is totally private with cable television and internet facilities, clean bath room with hot and cold water, and very impressive roof top views of the Kathmandu valley as well as nearby forests. It will feel like a second home!! Its also possible to share the kitchen and cook together with the Nepali family!!
Away from any tourist traps, this is an authentic experience where you'll feel like a part of the community. Its a friendly neighborhood with no security concerns, everyone is kind and helpful and all within a short distance from Thamel.
  • I spent a 49 days in Kathmandu visiting the Yungdrung-Bon monastery Triten Norbutse of my teacher Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. Thakurs home-stay is located at a distance of about 15-20 walking minutes away from the monastery, which was just right for me, because some walking every day is pleasant when you spent a lot of time meditating. The room in Thakurs Queens Garden Home Stay which I used for these 7 weeks was very nice, with a balcony and a big comfortable bed, a table for placing the labtop (Thakur provides WLAN with a good connection), a big wardrobe, and most pleasant: a seperate bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin. In Kathmandu the supply of electricity by the government is quite unreliable, electricity is cut off quite frequently. For these cases Thakurs house has a backup power generator, which turned out to be most usefull. Personally Thakur was very friendly and helpfull in any situation where I had questions or needed some help. For example, there was a street dog living near by the house, which seemed to be ill and I wanted to call a veterinarian who could give a vaccination to this dog, and Thakur engaged very intensely in making phonecalls until at least a veterinarian came and got the vaccination done. What I specially liked a lot of Thakurs house was the roof terrace where I spent some good times reading and meditating. I thank Thakur and his wife Richa and specially his nephew Atun, who opened the front door for me whenever it was needed, even late in the evening, for their great hospitality! You made me feel very welcome and later really at home!

  • My stay with thakur and his family was great...the place was spacious and in a peaceful quiet part of katmandu but only a 6 minute journey into the busier part of katmandu...thakur has his own registered company for adventure called adventure glacier treks & expedition....he put a great package for my treking and sight seeing of nepal at a very good price...i highly recomend staying here as yiu will be properly looked after from the moment you arrive until you leave......

    Tony2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Thakur and Richa have a lovely family with two adorable children. They sent a driver to pick me up from the airport once I arrived in Nepal. (same person dropped me off at the airport for my departure) very useful. I also got the chance to tour around Kathmandu! The location is euphoric. The hills surround the entire community. I enjoyed waking up and observing this from my balcony. Thank you family.

    Naomi2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time that I visited Thakur and his family. Very nice and uncomplicated people. A nice house in a quiet area near the forest. Everything was clean and working. The bed is very comfortable. Good Wifi. Shops and restaurants are nearby. If you like something outside and quiet, is right here. Highly recommended.

    Rolf2019-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • A nice room in a stylish house on the edge of Kathmandu. Super delicious home cooking, a great roof terrace and just a cozy neighborhood. Thank you and see you next time.

  • Great space, great family, highly recommended. Thakur was out of station when i arrived but his brother Suresh and wife Sheila were really excellent and the stay was great. An added bonus was so getting so much trekking info and meeting guides and porters. Thanks everyone, i hope to be back !!

    Thomas2019-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Thakur and Richa’s place is a true Nepalese Homestay experience. They live near a beautiful national park were the former monarch currently resides- hence the name Queens gardens. We spent one evening learning how to make momo’s from scratch, but most importantly, I learned how to make the sauce! Richa cooks unbelievable dal bhat, all made from locally farmed, organic vegetables. If you are interested in volunteering, Richa has connections with an NGO that is helping rebuild the Gorka district, the epicenter of the 2015 earthquake. And Thakur runs a fabulous trekking company that created a customized trip for me at a very reasonable price including airport pick up! The air is clean and it is quiet at night being outside of the loud nightlife in Thamel. Still Being very accessible, with a bus around the corner, a cheap taxi, or a 30 min walk.

  • We loved every second in the Himalayan Hideaway. We took the hosts up on their offer for traditional home-cooked Nepalese meals and it was well worth the extra cost. Dinesh, who assisted us, made every effort to make sure we were comfortable and happy. He arranged a ride to and from the airport, guided us along a couple of hikes, gave us great advice, made fires, and prepared some of the best food of our entire trip. The house itself is well constructed, comfy and the views were incredible. WiFi was great, faster than ours in the USA. Bring warm clothes, though, unless you want to stay by the fire! Amazing few days; highly recommended.

  • A must visit place for all the people seeking adventure and once in a lifetime opportunity to look at The Great Himalayas all 24 hrs. The cook and food is great. Just be sure to travel in jeep or small car avoid Toyota Hiace as the road is not so good If possible reach there in morning time and ask the directions properly.

  • Great place with gorgeous views. It’s easy to reach via a sealed and dirt road in about 1.25h. From KTM airport. The place is well equipped with a gorgeous fireplace, plenty of books and a Bose Soundsystem. The beds are comfy and the water pressure is good. Overall a great place for a scenic getaway.

  • Beautiful house at very pleasant location in Nagarkot . The house was very clean and neat . Dinesh (chef ) was too good . Thank you bikki . We really enjoyed our stay at your place.

  • I've been traveling for 4 months and the most amazing views I've seen are from the deck of this place at sunrise, when the Himalayas preside over the steep paddies, villages, and forests. The place is well constructed by Western standards. Good windows, appliances, WiFi, stereo, coffee maker, etc. The manager, Dinesh, doubled as a local guide and took us to celebrate a holiday with the villagers, hiking through the forest, and even came with us on a helicopter ride to Pokhara on the day we checked out. I thought we'd feel frighteningly isolated, but Dinesh made us feel totally taken care of. The villagers are so friendly and kind and I had some wonderful experiences hanging out with them.

  • Bikki has a beautiful place and words will not do it justice. You have to stay there to know what i mean. Its a bit of an uphill walk to the place once you get down from your car, so you might want to be prepared for a walk, which is fitting as the best view comes after the hardest climb. The house is beautiful and tastefully done complete with all amenties. The Bose speakers were not working but Sher ji who looks after the place put in so much effort in fixing it up without any complains. We had a beautiful time at the place, the terrace/balcony has the most beautiful view you don't want to miss. Recommend this place to everyone. Will definitely be coming back again and again for the hospitality and the location.

    Gaurav2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time in the house. It’s really nicely decorated and cozy just need to be better cleaned up. The terrace and views are incredible. Bikki and his team were helpful with everything we needed. Place is recommended, and we would stay there again next time.

    Ekaterina2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • When I first saw this Airbnb listing I just had to book it. The pictures speak for themselves, truly amazing. Wake up with sunrise and singing birds and end your day with spectacular sunsets. I was pleased with Bikki’s fast responses as I booked last minute. He made sure everything went smoothly and that I was well prepared for this trip. Also I recommend using his driver Shanjeep. He is the best driver in Nepal, knows the way and speaks good English. Even though I visited at the start of the raining season, I still had mornings were I could see glimpses of the Himalayas. The views of the valleys are breathtaking and the incoming rain-clouds and lighting are striking and refreshing. There are many scenic walkways around the house and the local village is just a 10 minute walk away. The Banyan tree resort is also a short walk from the property and has an extensive menu if you wish to eat out. Talk to the friendly locals who love to share their culture with you. The house is beautifully designed, everything you do is with a view. It might be a bumpy road and a lot of stairs to reach this destination but it is totally worth it. Once you are there you just want to stay longer. Ginesh, the property manager, was there to welcome us. He will explain everything you need to know and can do shopping for you if required. He also provided us with a Nepali sim. It is was very reassuring to know that there is someone you can reach if needed. On top of this he cooks like a masterchef. Don’t miss out on a delicious home-made Nepali dinner. Love this beautiful place and hope to be back one day!

  • Happy made this journey quite different as we not only found his homestay a cozy and comfortable place, but he made himself a family member of us, a brother to talk to during the evenings, a mirror you can look into and find something in common from the bottom of your heart, being romantic, idealistic, full of passion and love life... Also he is a great singer with wonderful taste of music, wish you all the best my friend. U will never be regretted to stay here and meet with Happy, who will absolutely make an unforgettable memory of your life. Also, the sister who took care of everything is amazing. She always gives a bright smile to everybody. This is a place more than just hostel, guest house, apartment. It’s Happy home.

  • Great sanctuary in a busy city. Not in Thamel and taxi drive can be between 15-30 min depending on traffic so wouldn’t recommend for sight seeing but great place to relax after a trek with some nice cafes and restaurants nearby. Place is centrally located in Patan but taxi drivers need directions a lot of the times. Having said that, the property’s manager RK is super helpful and can direct the driver if necessary!

  • Jason and RK were splendid hosts;I think staying with them epitomises what the founders of AirBnB set out to achieve. Genuinely hospitable people wanting to create a "home" environment for travellers.

  • Thakur's place is in a soon to be beautifully reconstructed neighborhood that was severely damaged by the earthquake. The amazing colors and stone work being chosen by the residents is slowly transforming this area into a preferred Kathmandu homestay just outside of Thamel.

  • Thakur's apartment is the perfect place to stay just outside the city center. His family was wonderful and welcoming and the forest is only a few minutes away. I highly recommend staying here.

  • Thakur is a kind and gracious host. They helped us order dinner from a local restaurant that delivered the first night. Our second day was a guided tour of a local festival. Shailesh was outstanding. The festival would normally have been the highlight of any trip but Thakur arranged a day to a hot springs topped off with a trip to the Tibetan border. Scary ride but beautiful mountain views made it the high point of our stay!

To go to different parts of Kathmandu there is local micro bus to minute walk from the apartment or you can walk 15 min to the ring road where you can get buses for everywhere in Nepal , which is very easy and also you can use googlemap which is every for everything. The house has very nice rooftop you can see whole Kathmandu valley , green forest and also mountain , sunrise , set etc.. front and back of the apartment there are small garden so you can use lemongrass, mints etc… also some vegetables, the local organic teas, I’m very happy to staying here that all are feel me like their family and everything open and feel like my own house.
