The boathouse is a unique space which sleeps 2 in one bedroom/sitting room overlooking the Broad. Fully centrally heated and completely renovated last year, it also has kitchenette, wet room and sunny patio. A pub and cafe are a short walk away. Hot tub rental available.
The Boat House is a unique space which sleeps 2 in one bedroom/sitting room. Fully centrally heated and completely renovated last year, the property has a wonderfully sunny patio where you can relax after a busy day exploring the area. The accommodation comprises of one large room upstairs which has a Feather and Black bed which can be split into twin beds or made into one large double bed. This room also has two armchairs and a TV with a large inbuilt desk set under a window which looks out towards the Broad and the moored boats. This is a wonderful space for the budding writer or for enjoying breakfast. The original staircase (fairly steep) leads down to the kitchenette (please note, no oven) and wetroom. The wetroom has underfloor heating. There is a pub and a cafe in the village, both 5 minute's walk away which serve lunch and evening meals (only the pub serves the latter). There is also 'The Ship Inn' in South Walsham which serves meals and is just over a mile away. The apartment is dog friendly, we accept one well behaved dog. HOT TUB RENTAL £75 per short break. The tub is filled and heated for your arrival and comes with a chilled bottle of prosecco! Homemade cake, fizz and balloons for special occasions £30
Ranworth is a beautiful village in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. There is a nature reserve in the village which has a thatched visitor centre on stilts at the end of a boardwalk which overlooks Ranworth Broad. From here you can take wildlife trips on the Norfolk Wildlife Trust boat. There is a huge array of birds and wildlife to observe and listen to here. The rare swallowtail butterfly can often be seen in the garden. Ranworth church which you can see from the property is known as the 'Cathedral of the Broads'. Climb up to the top of the tower and enjoy wonderful views of the village and views all the way across to the coast. The church is known for it's beautiful rood screen and antiphoner and is well worth a visit. There is also a cafe here. A few minutes walk from the accommodation is the staithe which is host to the many boats which visit the village. Here you will find a pub, shop (closed from November until March) and cafe. It's a great spot to have a meal or a drink and watch the world go by. There are walks in the area and you may also like to visit the nearby Fairhaven Woodland and Water Gardens, which comprises of 53 hectares (131 acres) of beautiful ancient woodland, water gardens and a private broad at South Walsham. Amongst the many things that make living here special, are waking up to the sunshine with the mist hanging over the broad (with the boom of the bittern in the distance if you are lucky!), listening to the owls hooting late at night and drifting along the river on a boat. There is so much to see and do here not only in the village but also in the rest of the Broads. We are also close to many beaches. Winterton beach is a favourite both with locals and our guests. There is cafe right on the beach and a cosy pub in the village of Winterton. Norwich is only half an hour away with it's wonderful shops and museums. Wroxham is 15 minutes away where you can hire a boat to explore the waterways and there are fishing jetties on the River Bure, about 10 minutes drive away. Imagine Spa in Blofield Heath has a range of relaxing treatments available too, again only 10 minutes away!
  • We stayed at the Boathouse and it was absolutely amazing! Jane was very thoughtful we was left with some cookies which was a nice touch. Jane sent me a huge message beforehand explaining how to gain access, directions and things to do whilst we was there. Hot tub was an amazing touch with free champagne. I asked Jane to put up some birthday balloons beforehand and she did with no fuss about paying etc which was lovely. When we arrived there was alpacas in the field behind the boathouse which was lovely. Would you 100% go again!!

  • Wow! A charming, high quality and very special place to stay. The attention to detail and cleanliness are exceptional. So many little touches that were very much appreciated. Lovely views of Ranworth Broad to the front, and to the Church and Alpacas to the rear; and what a treat the Alpacas are to watch from the hot tub... Our only disappointment was that we did not book more nights! Thank you Jane, so much.

  • The perfect get away!! Jane was a lovely host and the boat house is amazing. The hot tub was ready as soon as we got there which was nice and relaxing. Jane also had a homemade cake, Prosecco and balloons ready for the arrival for my boyfriends birthday. Will definitely be back in the future!

  • My boyfriend and I spent a lovely 4 days at Jane's Boat House in February. The place is just as lovely as it looks in the photos and the views from both sides are very picturesque, even in gale force winds and lashing rain! We loved sitting at the front window overlooking the broads and boats - it was so relaxing and peaceful. Similarly, the sheep and alpacas in the field to the back kept us amused chasing each other around. So sweet! The Boat House is so cosy, warm and snug and the bed is so comfortable. There are also sweet little touches dotted around like freshly cut flowers and sea shells decorating the bath towels. Despite the weather we did manage one evening in the hot tub which was wonderfully relaxing. Jane provides big robes to put on afterwards for the dash back into the warmth. As other reviewers have mentioned, the stairs are very steep but thankfully there are hand rails on both sides so you soon get used to them. Just make sure you have at least one hand free and don't attempt to go down laden with crockery and glasses! We enjoyed a couple of lovely meals out - the first in the Ship Inn just down the road in South Walsham and the other a little further afield in the King's Head in Holt. We also visited the Malsters for a few drinks which is only a 2 minute walk away. The beach at Winterton is a lovely place for a long walk. Jane wasn't around when we first arrived but the self check-in is very easy with the use of a key safe and means that you don't feel like you are disrupting anyone's day. When we met Jane on the second day she was very friendly and welcoming and definitely strikes the right balance between letting you know she is always on hand whilst ensuring you have complete privacy during your stay. All in all we had a fantastic time and are already thinking about when to go back. The Boat House is the perfect location for a long weekend of total rest and relaxation.

  • A stay in one of Amber’s bell tents is an opportunity to spend some wonderful outdoor time, in touch with nature, whilst still enjoying life’s comforts. The barn in the glamping field has an array of games, such as table tennis, boules and badminton, as well as fishing nets for pond dipping, a bike to race around the grounds and some pen and paper activities. My kids were happy roaming and playing for hours on end without the need for organised activities. The tent itself is spacious and extremely well equipped. We wanted for nothing. And there are plenty of supplies to buy in the barn (via an honesty box system) to keep the BBQ sizzling and the log fires burning. Vases of fresh wild flowers and marshmallows to toast on the fire, were lovely thoughtful touches. The setting and location are excellent, with plenty of places to explore in the immediate surrounds and easy access by car to beautiful beaches and kids play parks. I spent the most amazing week here with my three children, bonding, laughing and snuggling. Absolutely beautiful times. Thank you 😊

  • I found both the host and the location idealistic both in the nostalgia and the cleanliness. The location next to the manor are an added benefit for use of walks, peace and space. I went with children who found plenty to do. I was concerned initially as i thought this place might only suit young children of ages 9 and under as we generally camp in go active locations. However, my children being teenage years loved it. There is lots of local activities to do including fabulous beaches. steam trains, zoos, and water sports. The site itself is not over crowded and lots of space - well balanced. We made some good memories here.

  • We had a very relaxing time in one of Amber's bell tents this July. The beds and linens make for the best night's sleep camping I may have ever had. We slept like babies! And she even put out beds for our two babies, speaking of which - a wonderful host. We also appreciated all the very useful local tips. Thanks, Amber!

  • Fantastic setting. Everything you need to live comfortably is in the tent. The inside stove is a wonderful addition. Amber was very easy to get through to and been extremely informative in the build up to our stay and during. Would highly recommend it for a group of friends looking for a comfortable green space break. Go see the seals at Blakeney point if you get the chance

We plan to open again on the 14th April for sensible guests to book. Stiltz has always been a place many of our guests never leave, so get away and never see anyone else in our exceptional holiday home. Stiltz is dedicated to love and romance, connect with that special person, get away and focus on each other with hot tub and surrounding decking has uninterrupted views of the valley, walk in 350 acres of woodland without meeting anyone. A luxury kingsize four--poster-bed a woodburner.
The impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on our guests and our properties. We care deeply about your safety, whether you are at home or traveling. With this in mind, I would like to share some actions we are taking to help you make informed decisions about your stay or plan to stay with us. A major benefit for us is that we are very rural, and you never need meet anyone during your stay here. Most guests travel by car and we provide private and isolated guest car parking. And within the vast Woodlands and Heaths that back onto the properties, it is very rare to meet other people, and if people are walking their dogs, it is easy to see people approaching from a distance and to go in other directions. For the interim, we have removed all sauces and condiments, tea bags and aromatherapy oils for the hot tubs at both rentals. We will still provide a large portion of coffee beans for the coffee machines in a resealable container (kept in the fridges) which is replaced between guests, so these items you will now need to bring for your own personal use. Stand down day. We have now implemented an additional 24 hours between guests arriving and departing our properties. This is for two main reasons, one, it allows our hot tubs to be drained completely, and two, for us to carry out a full deeper clean, bleaching all surfaces in between all guests. Our cleaners have been advised/reminded on how to thoroughly clean our properties, and have been provided with additional cleaning solutions to ensure this is correctly carried out. This will double the time they spend cleaning our properties, however, we are determined to always continue to improve our excellent hygiene standards. We would also ask that all our guests please also follow government guidelines on hand washing and daily hygiene to ensure we are all working together to avoid this virus. What you can do to stay healthy Whether you’re at home or traveling, the WHO recommends practicing good hygiene to protect yourself against infection — by washing your hands frequently with soap, so we provide hand soap in our properties, we will provide correct strength alcohol-based sanitizer, if it is available for us to buy then we will provide it, but advice is soap and water with robust scrubbing is more effective. The advice of maintaining distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing, and avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth. So as a precaution we do not plan to meet any guests from now on during your stay, during check-in or check-out, key boxes ( we use anti bacterial treatment between guests on all key boxes) allow you to enter the property and leave with out the need to meet us. Airbnb now are changing cancelation policy and cancellation charges are being updated so guests do not lose out, please check regularly the site for details and you have any problems with COVID-19, we would prefer that you do cancel if your circumstances change, and if we have any problems then you will be notified via the app. We understand as this situation rapidly evolves, we know there is an atmosphere of uncertainty as travellers wonder if they should change their plans and we will do all we can to help with regular information. We have had some fantastic reviews, and we attract guests hunting for what we offer, therefore we want to be clear on what you can expect so you can then have the very best experience and therefore Stiltz can not be suitable for everyone or all tastes, it is very rural and designed for couples wanting to get away from it all. Stiltz has been compared to tree house and would not suitable for every one, so Stiltz is not suitable for guests as the Home access is ONLY by steps and the decking can be slippery when wet, and so please DO NOT BOOK, with children, or Older or limited mobility or Disabled guest, but our other property the lodge is child and Disability friendly and sleeps up to four or five and you can also book via Airbnb. Stiltzs is a building surrounded by decking and is on stilts as it is built on the side of a hill. It is only accessible ONLY by STEPs on both sides as pictured, the retreat has dual aspect decking, allowing you to maximise sun and shade from dawn till dusk, with the best uninterrupted views of the valley and 12 acres of meadows which surrounds our hot tub. This has been perfect for couples wanting a special break away. We have done all we can to make it as comfortable as possible, the luxury inside, alongside the pleasure of watching the sunset with a glass of bubbly at any time of the year from the warmth of the hot tub is something special that a photo cannot capture! The only better experience is that, on a clear night, you can lay back in the hot tub under a canopy of stars, which is something our guests have been amazed by and loved! As the decking is on different levels, we would not recommend it for infants, please do not ignore this advice as it is for your safety! For the same reasons, it is also not suitable for anyone who has mobility issues or disabilities, and again best pick the lodge, also with so much decking if it gets wet, care also needs to be taken for all our guests, and again, some more elderly guests would not find it practical to stay at Stiltz either. It is especially designed for couples looking for a romantic brake from the bustle of everyday life, curling up in front of a roaring fire with that special someone. We are miles away from the nearest village, and access is via an unmade track. Also some mobile providers also have poor coverage in our area too, it is rural with a capital R, so if fast broadband is a must have for your stay, then our location is not for you! The lodge is located with access to 600 acres of heathland and woods close to the leisure area called Top Farm, but Stiltz is completely separate and the field to the south-west has caravans and the field to the south-east has camping pitches, also the camping area can be used for Weddings in the summer and the area becomes busier in the School Summer Holiday periods, however, there is no access to the field around Stiltz, it is totally private, and all the facilities, including the hot tub, are for the exclusive of our guests during their stay and is tucked away from view. However, it’s charm can be felt in the Autumn and Winter months, the area is so quite and it feels like you are the only people for miles around! From the bedroom you can see the same views through triple glazed windows and, when you wake, relax in the luxury ash grey four poster bed, on a mattress which has over a 1000 individual pocket springs with deep, luxury fillings, this is a hand tufted mattress to give optimum support for a peaceful night’s sleep. We provide high quality and fresh bed linen for all guests, with luxury soft pillows and duvet. Many of our guests have said that, when combined with a couple of hours in the hot tub, it has made for the best night’s sleep they’ve had in years! (We also provide, free of charge, lavender, raspberry and other scented oils for use in the hot tub). We built Stiltz for relaxing in, and it is ideal for guests who want to stay somewhere a bit special. Our happiest clients seem to be couples who want to get away from it all, but not to scrimp on comfort! The french solid oak flooring in the bedroom steps you into the travertine stone floor of the ensuite, with shower, basin and toilet, with soft deep towels provided, or your robes provided for the spa. The en suite is clad in hand cut timber painted with soft eggshell. From the shower room step into the lounge, with a deep four-seater, grey, leather sofa, to curl up on for a cosy night in front of the contemporary wood burner, with the option of watching the Panasonic 40" Smart TV, with Freeview TV, DVD player and selection of DVD's. It is unlikely you will feel either too cold or, too hot, as the building is super insulated, but the 5 kilowatt state of the art Scandinavian wood burner can make the place very hot quite rapidly. (The manual has details on its operation), and with a flick of a switch the warm aromatic air can be pulled through into your bedroom. We provide all wood and kindling free of charge for your stay, as it is a must for our winter guests! You can exit the lounge stepping onto your personal decked areas on both sides of Stiltz via sets of double patio doors. To the sun deck or covered breakfast area, all areas can be again fully lit in the evenings. The dining table separates the lounge from the kitchen area, and you will find DAB radio and an Ipod dock for visitors’ use. Both the lounge and kitchen have white bespoke New England adjustable shutters for maximum privacy and shade. The kitchen is well equipped with all your home comforts, seasoning (Tuscan, Italian , French, chilli and others) plus your own top of the range bean to cup coffee machine (Instructions to be found in the manual), also find complimentary fresh coffee beans kept in the fridge for your use also. Dishwasher, toaster, blender and kettle are also provided. Instant coffee and a selection of twelve types of tea bags from herbal to Earl Grey are complementary . Also, all necessities, i.e. dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and cleaning products. The cooking area has a ceramic hob, extractor fan and a large separate combination microwave/grill/oven (Instructions in the manual), also commentary cooking oils, balsamic vinegar, sauces, herbs and spices. To brighten up our kitchen we have a fun, bright orange, retro fridge-freezer and on top you have your very own ice machine. We even provide a full set of condiments, ketchup, mustard, chilli, tabasco and much more! At the end of the kitchen you can exit on to a further decked balcony via the third set of patio doors. This time, the deck has a glass roof, and you can step out onto the sun deck with sun loungers ready surrounded by a glass balcony, so as not to spoil your view! From there you can step straight into the spa, which is level with the deck. With external down lighters outside the north facing glazed wall, these, and all the extensive external lighting, are controlled from the door by the bedroom, which leads you on to the decking. The framed edge of the decked balcony is also lined with stainless steel handrails and cabling. The hot tub is a Catalina XL21000, with twin loungers so you can lay back. It seats five comfortably, and with three pumps and a heated blower the 64 stainless steel jets should not miss a spot delivering the ultimate relaxation. However, if you wish to chill in this idyllic country setting, then pop up the built in speakers, and turn on the CD player, with topside controls from within the tub, or plug in your phone or iPod to listen to your own playlist, and at night you can always turn on the tubs own underwater LED lights. On the decking next to the hot tub are two padded rattan chairs and table, perfect for breakfasts, and a bistro set with low chairs and a table perfect for evening prosecco. Our guests can enjoy their evening with subtle light from blue up lighters on the deck (for safety, champagne flutes, tumblers and wine goblets provided are polycarbonate for use in the hot tub). The decking area can also accommodate hammocks provided, the area to the south has a corner rattan sofas and large table with a 3.5m Anthracite Overhanging Parrassol, and the picnic table and seats with brolly. Additional shade can also be introduced by raising both the three metre sails. This decked area is ideal if you wish to fire up the three burner gas BBQ (Full set of tools provided for BBQing), and with the down lighters in the evenings along the soffit, create a perfect area for relaxation. Beyond this decking is a gravel courtyard, framed with willow fencing adorned with solar lanterns, this area too has a bistro set of chairs and table on the stones safe for those wishing to smoke. but if you fancy something funky one of the two moulded stools lights up, just select your Colour by remote control. If you hanker for straying a bit further in the outdoors, then down the stairs off the decking into miles of woodland walks (map on the wall of the 500 acres in total without crossing a road) or, venture onto the adjacent heathland on bikes, which we can organise hire for your stay if you would like? Even if you clock up the miles on your walk, you will be lucky to come across anyone else, but you will find miles more beautiful scenery without a house in sight. Just as with the views from the decking around Stiltz! We except guests with well-behaved pets, but we require information on your pet before we accept the booking. We want your stay to meet our high standards, and so, we like to change the water in the hot tub every week, but this takes more than 12 hours to empty, refill and get back to the correct temperature, therefore to allow this to happen, we do appreciate a prompt departure to allow us to be able to do this for our next guests. However, if we do not have guests arriving the following afternoon we are happy to be more flexible on departure times, so please just ask. Also, weekends are our most popular time for bookings, so we do discount week nights and longer stays! With only one bedroom Stiltz normally only caters for 2 adults maximum, however, we can also provide a fold away spare bed and the large sofa can be used as a single bed due to its size and comfort, as some guests have wanted to bring their children. However, as previously stated, we do not recommend toddlers or the disabled to stay due to the lodge layout and safety around the hot tub, steps and decking. The car parking space is covered by CCTV for security, but the CCTV does not cover the hottub and private Garden and decking areas. Please browse our pictures, although our guests (and us) don't believe they do Stiltz the justice it deserves!! Why not come see for yourselves!! We do ask for a minimum stay of two nights, this is because cleaning, inside and out thoroughly can take three to four hours. Also, the emptying, filling and regular maintenance of the hot tub has to be completed and returning it to operating temperature can take many hours. We always clean and flush the hot tub every week, and it is only for your exclusive use only during your stay.
We have had some fantastic reviews, and we attract guests hunting for what we offer, therefore we want to be clear on what you can expect so you can then have the very best experience and therefore Stiltz can not be suitable for everyone or all tastes, it is very rural and designed for couples wanting to get away from it all and some guests are disappointed as we do not have good reliable wifi, so during your stay if you can't live a couple of days without a stable super fast wifi connection then I recommend a city break, respectfully, we are in the "sticks" and would not want you to think otherwise. Also if you can't find the date you want or you want no steps and a flat entrance to the building then you can book "the Lodge" same features, all new and it can be more peaceful as at certain times the field next to Stiltz is hosted by the owners of the farm (not us!) for weddings and other events, and at these times Stiltz is normally booked for the bride and groom. So Stiltz is very quite 90% of the time but at busier periods music can be heard at these times, please ask if this a concern and we can check what's on and also the lodge is tucked around the other side of the farm so is more private and more enclosed if that is a must, please book the place that most suits your needs ! But most of all this is an ideallic and remote spot loved by all! You might want help with Bike hire, we can do that so it is all sorted, hats, lights and locks for your arrival, look at above guest access section it has full details, plus details on Tesco or Sainsbury delivery for when or before they arrive, just ask and we can agree the slot and order all your goodies to maximise your time in the Hottub or exploring the woods! Guests have commented that the pictures we post do not do Stiltz justice and we love that! We have gone to extra lengths on the detail, the mattress was one of the most expensive available and framed by a hand made four poster bed, the cost coffee machine would set you back a pretty penny, but it is not about how much we spend on the stuff inside and out. We keep the freshest coffee beans in the fridge for that perfect cup of coffee, Our cleaner spends 3-4 hours after every guest departure making sure it is spotless, we want you stay to be perfect and for us it has to be very clean, and that goes for the Hottub, we spend many hours after every guest, cleaning pipes, changing / cleaning filters, changing water and cleaning the tub and did I say fresh water, it is a major exercise as the hot tub takes an hour to empty, over two to fill, and it can take eight hours or more to reach the ideal temperature, so if we don't have time we can do a partial change, and a deep clean, as we look to to do a full change every week, not the two months as recommended by the manufacturer and as others do, on top and as a matter of course we balance the water condition twice daily, for us this has to be clean as, you would not want to share someone else's bath! We had our first guest propose in the Hottub in December, there are some occasions best remembered under a carpet of stars in a dark sky in water set to 103 degrees with a 4,500 bubbles per second, we set the seen as best we can, we do the detail so you can forget it! But we have had guests whom have spent till 5am in the Hottub and slept till 3pm, we do not do your normal week, if you live in Essex, Devon, London or Hertfordshire, you will have an experience designed to be far away from the routine and some time away from the buzz with someone special! Our guests can enjoy their stay, relaxing in the hot tub on the outdoor decked area, with commanding views over the peaceful North Norfolk countryside surrounding Stiltz Lodge, or BBQ on the decked area to the rear and lounge in a hammock!! We decorate in side and out at Christmas. If you are planning a special break then you we often surprise our guests with a complementary Bottle of prosecco on ice with glasses, that way your holiday can start the second you arrive and if it is chilly you will find a roaring waiting for you to toast your toes! If you are unsure read the reviews, or stay and be miles away from the daily graft and write your own story! We like our guests to enjoy their stay, some regular Airbnb guests and new to us have said Stiltz is the best place they have ever stayed, find out?
  • I think Stiltz may be one of my favourite places in the world! We stayed last spring for the first time and when we arrived a few days ago it was like coming home! It is the perfect place to be during all the chaos and uncertainty at the moment, it's such a haven of peace and calm. We had no concerns about staying during the Covid-19 pandemic, Paul and Chrissy are fantastic hosts and they got in touch in advance to let us know all the extra measures that they are taking to ensure the health of their guests. They really have gone above and beyond meaning that we could completely relax in the beatiful surroundings. I can't recommend Stiltz highly enough!

  • Very clean, great hosts, reliable, great communication, dog friendly!! They send you a great Manual that explains everything from location, places to eat, things to do and just local knowledge. Farm is very lovely. Hot tub is great, the oils are an added touch! I will deffo be staying again!

  • Stiltz is a fantastic place to stay if you're looking for peace and quiet. It's sparkling clean, has fantastic amenities (my favourites were the coffee machine and the hot tub) and is great for dogs. The surrounding area is great for walks, and Chrissy and Paul's local knowledge is very helpful if you're unfamiliar with the area!

  • Amazing time here..... great host, great location

    Drew2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay. Chrissy and Paul really have thought of everything you'll both want and need for your stay. Kitchen and lounge facilities are great, hot tub is an obvious highlight but the surroundings are great for the outdoorsy types. The hosts have also put together a really helpful manual for the local area for eating out, shopping etc. A great stay, would definitely recommend and would go back next weekend

  • Beautiful house, better than the pictures reveal!

    Katie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great weekend for our friends 30th birthday, the house was very clean and had everything we needed. The hosts were great, as the hot tubs went wrong once or twice but they were there within minutes to sort it out. We asked for take away menus and they were there, they couldn't do enough for us. Only downside was the water kept going cold so we really had to stagger showers but there was 14 of us and the house wasn't the warmest but it's a barn conversion and it was very windy!! We have all said we would definitely come back and stay here!

    Jo2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is a beautiful place to stay with a very nice hot tub. It is in a quiet location but near to plenty of pubs and beaches. The water can be a little chilly but as long as you stagger showers this can be managed. Wifi is also a bit hit and miss but does the job for a few days away. Thank you very much!

    Kathryn2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was amazing! We stayed for two nights for a hen do and had such a good time! The kitchen was fab, and it's so spacious. We hired butler's in the buff for cocktail making and games - it's a really good space! The lounge is a lovely place to relax, and every bedroom was really nicely decorated and clean! Underfloor heating throughout which was nice. The hot tub was fantastic! Would definitely recommend for a large group! And the check in and out was super easy!

    Chloe2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Exceeded our expectations and the pictures does not do this barn justice, it's even more beautiful in real life. when we arrive we was greeted and shown around the home and we were made to feel so welcomed like this was our own place. The barn was spotless and didn't find any dirt anywhere. You're provided with towels, tea-towels, toilet roll, tea, coffee, sugar and milk which was so thoughtful as that makes all the difference. we had our dad's 50th birthday here and there was more than enough room for everyone (as a family of 13) it was so nice to be able to share a dinner table together, a living room where you can all sit down it was truly beautiful. we were provided with so many games, puzzles, dvd's etc. but my only recommendation would be there should be a TV added to the down stairs living room as kids wanted one thing on the telly and adults wanted another so it would've been great to have another option, we personally thought the kitchen as we noticed the Freeview Ariel and that's where we spent most of our time. But we couldn't fault this place even if we tried, thank you so much for a lovely stay, we will 100% be back.

  • We had a wonderful hen weekend at Medieval Swafield Barn! It's a great space for 15 people and all of our party was wowed by the barn. The hot tub was a big hit and stayed very warm throughout the weekend. The kitchen island is a great space and the dining area was comfortable for all of us. We did run short of hot water despite staggering our showers but you are warned about this in the welcome book at the barn. Our correspondence with the hosts before our stay was great and every query and request was answered - we requested extra tea towels during our stay as only one had been provided and they were brought straight away. We also enquired before our stay about whether bluetooth speakers were available and the host confirmed they had purchased some for the barn - thank you! Overall a great weekend had by all! Several of our party are thinking of occasions that they can book the barn for!

    Claire2020-01-26T00:00:00Z

The Crossing Retreat is a timber clad modern barn which has been renovated to give guests a taste of the countryside with a quirky twist. The large bi-folding doors along one side of the Retreat allow guests to open up their living space to the outdoors, perfect for those warm evenings. In the cooler months it provides a great source of light, enabling guests to watch the world go by from the warm and cosy comfort of indoors. The surrounding fields provide lovely views from the Crossing Retreat’s private courtyard garden where guests can enjoy the lantern lit outdoor seating area.
Tunstead has many traffic free walks/ cycle routes and a very cute watering hole which welcomes passers by with home cooked lunches, local ales, cakes and evening meals at the weekend. St Mary church at the end of the lane is a particularly vast church for such a small village, so too is the church at Worstead just 2.5miles away. This village is also host to Titchfest held this year on 25th-26th June and the famous Worstead festival on 30th-31st July. Hoveton Hall is just around the corner and has some amazing gardens to stroll round. Also very close by is Wroxham Barns which has a farmyard, amusement rides, garden centre, specialist shops and a restaurant (which sells the most amazing full English breakfast!). Further on but still only 3 miles from the cottage is Wroxham, the heart of the broads. There you can hire a boat, canoe, bike or walk along the river sampling the restaurants and cafes. It is also where you can board the Bure Valley Railway, which is Norfolk's longest fifteen inch gauge line running between Wroxham and Aylsham. The 18 mile round trip takes you through the picturesque Bure valley countryside following the river and stops occasionally at small country villages. Also within 3 miles is Coltishall, a lovely village on the river Bure, housing antiques shops and pubs with outdoor seating on the riverside. You are also only 10 miles from the famous North Norfolk coastline. Whether you're looking for large expanses of sand, walking along sand dunes or marshland, bird/ seal watching or water sports the Norfolk coastline has them all. Just over an hour's drive takes you to Southwold, a typical Victorian seaside town with a modern take on the classic arcades. We can't not talk about North Norfolk without mentioning the National Trust sites; Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall, Sheringham Park and finally Blakeney Point. We also have some super golf courses which we have played on and will be able to recommend to you. Finally, the Georgian town of Holt is also not far away and is a must to sample its quirky shops, pubs and galleries.
  • I booked Ems place again for my sister's birthday and as always we had an amazing time. The place is perfect.... played pool for hours..sound system is brilliant and of course The beautiful cats are the cherry on top of the cake. We will be back!

  • Crossing retreat made for a lovely weekend away - there were great facilities (loved the pool table, projector and cinema sound!) and it’s in a lovely part of Norfolk. Andy and Em were quick to reply to any messages and gave good tips on where to eat in the area etc. Would definitely recommend!

    Amy2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay, everything was spotless and clean (bedding, towels etc smelt lovely and fresh), the pool table was awesome and we loved watching films on the projector. It was like having our own private cinema, such a lovely place. And to top it all off, the cats were beautiful and Lulu was the sweetest cat we've ever met, with her padding and purrs and cuddles. Really was a home from home, would love to come again xxx

    Natalie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

We planning to open on the 14th April for sensible guests to book, unless things change. Our home is rural & secluded, our guests never need leave our home, or to meet anyone!! Takeaways and cooking in our home is ideal. The hottub is for the exclusive use of you! The Lodge is surrounded by 350 acres of woods & heathland right on your doorstep! ) The Lodge is ideal for both small families, couples and dogs too! Woodburners inside and out with private garden . So as a precaution we do not plan to meet any guests from now on during your stay, during check-in or check-out, key boxes (we use anti bacterial treatment between guests on each box ) allow you to enter the property and leave with out the need to meet us. Airbnb now are changing cancelation policy and cancellation charges are being updated so guests do not lose out, please check regularly the site for details should you have any problems with COVID-19, we would prefer that you do cancel if your circumstances change, and if we have any problems then you will be notified via the app. We understand as this situation rapidly evolves, we know there is an atmosphere of uncertainty as travellers wonder if they should change their plans and we will do all we can to help with regular information. The lodge is all new for April 2017, is part of a complex of barns, it was built in 1780 and converted 30 years ago into a home, but then it fell into disrepair and in 2016 we carried out a complete new refit, new windows, completely insulated and new cladding, new floors, heating system, new bathroom, replaced the kitchen, re wired and re-plastered, and then in 2017 we have landscaped, new fencing, decking, large patio, lighting and car park, we believe it is even better than Stiltz our other holiday home, a very private space and secluded garden and patio! We can accommodate six guests, one normal king bedroom, the front room has a double sofa bed, and then the smoke haus which is a pod in the garden has a double bed, but the pod has steps and you need to use the bathroom in the lodge, via the path across the garden, the pod is not for all but a totally unique space designed by London Architects for “green sky Thinking week” , no right angles, and a sky light to watch the stars, ideal for youngsters! We believe in providing an environment for you to focus on the present and allowing enjoyment in relaxation are the keys to a well earned break, some might seek 'mindfulness’ and there’s no better place to practice a little ‘you’ time than in the lodge garden. What is good for your spirit and wellbeing, is switching off from technology and curling up with a good book and we have some to choose from and in the fresh air, chill, the kids can do what they like doing at home in the lodge, we have WIFI but we are in the country side so do expect more than about 10 mg on a good day if you have brought them? I suspect they will spend a lot of time in the hot tub ( please seek acceptable usage guidance) next to the lawn, or in the Smokehaus at the bottom of the garden! Our garden sofa offers that comfort in a very special sun trap, and a couple of side tables for refreshments and you’ll be set for an afternoon of pure relaxation. The Danish concept of ‘hygge’ - essentially making moments in life special, cosy and memorable - is moving outdoors. It’s very satisfying to huddle around the firepit, toasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate, encapsulating the very essence of hygge, or undercover in the Smokehaus with the woodburner!Adding to the sensory experience is our olive tree, lavender and other herbs, creating the fragrant scent in the evening. Use the seating at night and the lodge comes with plenty of blankets ready to hand round as the temperature falls. The patio doors, blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors to create large entertaining and living spaces. For a seamless look, with garden furniture as elegant as indoor furniture we provide comfortable seating for many enjoyable hours around the table with friends and family. Do your food prep in the kitchen and use the kitchen window as a hatch for delivery to the outdoor cooking area, the gas BBQ saves all the messing around with charcoal, or maybe the family or just the two of you want breakfast outside, with fresh ground coffee from our machine, we even provide the beans and where better to enjoy that 'barista' cappuccino than the bistro set so you can soak up the early morning sun? Our outdoor lighting, making it easier than ever to create a stunning outdoor ambiance after the sun goes down, the Somkehaus has some very interesting lighting options. The car park has Environmentally friendly solar-powered lights and mains motion sensor lighting, the car parking space is covered by CCTV for security, but the CCTV does not cover the hottub and private Garden, patio, and decking areas. The lodge has uplighter and downlighter's on the outside washing the weatherboard barn with soft light, the seating areas near the hot tub is lit with decking lights and lighting posts so you can enjoy and eat in comfort, the pathway is lit for safety and general illumination. Lighting is controlled inside and out to add drama and cast beautiful shadows onto surrounding surfaces and will create an intimate atmosphere combined with the vibrant blue LED's in the hot tub, this is a very private space. We have had some fantastic reviews for our other property Stiltz, but it is not suitable for everyone, so for those who may have kids, families and for elderly guests we set up "the Lodge" it is so you can bring friends or family, so Stiltz is still the best couples retreat in the county, but The lodge is more flexible and less like a tree house and more like a normal barn conversion, so suitable for every one, so the lodge is child friendly and sleeps up to four, or or you have the Smokehaus to yourself, for chilling outside away from the telly! The kitchen has fantastic uninterrupted views of the fields outside the barns. Our hot tub is next to a decked eating area, well lit for night time dinning, but surrounded by fencing to make sure you stay is private and if you want to relax in our state of the art Hottub with its own sound system connected by Bluetooth to your smart phone, you will not be overlooked as you stare at the stars in the night sky! This is also perfect for couples wanting a special break away. We have done all we can to make it as comfortable as possible, the luxury inside, alongside the pleasure of watching the sunset with a glass of bubbly at any time of the year from the warmth of the hot tub is something special that a photo cannot capture! If you want to get away from the bustle of everyday life, curling up in front of a roaring fire with that special someone. We are miles away from the nearest village, and access is via an unmade track, and remote means near enough to the shops in the car, but some mobile providers also have poor coverage in our area too, it is rural with a capital R! The lodge is located with access to 600 acres of heathland and woods, from your backdoor, close to the leisure area called Top Farm. Also, the camping area can be used for Weddings in the summer sometimes, and the area can become busier in the School Summer Holiday periods, however, there is no access to the external spaces around the lodge or Hottub other than by you , it is totally private, and all the facilities, including the hot tub and Smokehaus are for the exclusive of our guests during their stay. However, it’s charm can be felt in the Autumn and Winter months, and it feels like you are the only people for miles around! From the bedroom you can see the views of the garden, Smokehaus and patio when you wake, relax in the luxury beech bed, on a mattress which has over a 1000 individual pocket springs with deep, luxury fillings, this is a hand tufted mattress to give optimum support for a peaceful night’s sleep. We provide the highest quality bed linen for all guests, with luxury soft pillows and duvet, watch TV and enjoy breakfast in bed! Many of our guests have said that, when you combine the super bed with a couple of hours in the hot tub, it has made for the best night’s sleep they’ve had in years! (We also provide, free of charge, lavender, raspberry and other scented oils for use in the hot tub). We made the lodge for relaxing in, and it is ideal for guests who want to stay somewhere a bit special. Our happiest clients seem to be those who want to get away from it all, but not to scrimp on comfort. The bathroom has a glass surround shower with ceramic tile walls, full size bath, the sink is also tiled with large and small mirror, a one-piece toilet, Exhaust fan with humidity control, Large ceramic floor tiles laid through-out, spot lighting, and waterproof shower lighting and heated towel bars. The bathroom has been remodel and is finished in crisp white, complete with soft deep luxury towels provided for our guests, and for couples only your own robes provided for the spa. The bathroom is clad in hand cut timber painted with soft eggshell. The lounge, with a deep four-seater, brown , leather sofabed, to curl up on for a cosy night in front of the black cottage wood burner, with the option of watching the Panasonic 40" Smart TV, with Freeview TV. But if you like your music the lodge is equip with a audio and video sound system powered with a Sony amplifier with a generous 165 watts per channel @6 Ohms, powering internal and external speakers, including, surround, sub woofer and centre, a movie by the fire may just like being at the cinema! stream any music stored on a NAS drive or network compatible device (tablet, phone etc) as well as having the capability to tune in to Radio services from across the globe. Furthermore, the unit comes equipped with Bluetooth and Apple Airplay capabilities so it can literally connect to almost any device imaginable. It is the 3rd generation of Bluetooth known as APT-Xso you can now stream high quality audio through this unit if stored on the connected device, or just great with the DVD player and selection of DVD's, the sound will make for a fantastic film night! It is unlikely you will feel either too cold or, too hot, as the building is super insulated, space heating and water heating is provided by the the state of the art air source heat pump, and keeps the place very comfortable in all weathers. We provide wood and kindling for reasonable use of the woodburner and as it is a must for our winter guests! You can exit the lounge stepping onto your personal patio areas via sets of double patio doors. To the sun deck or breakfast decked area, all areas can be again fully lit in the evenings., with table and seating for meals, the garden is very, very private, a real sun trap and not over looked, the Smokehaus is another space, to avoid weather, but to do as you wish, no rules! From the dining table in the kitchen area, and you will the best views of 100 acres of fields. The Hottub is a new Evolution 7 and features an advanced shell design combining elegant style & functionality. All seats are ergonomically designed to ensure the ultimate in comfort, it features a Balboa colour touch screen keypad similar to a modern smart phone. Intuitive and simple to use, the keypad allows you to control the spa's functions effortlessly; functionality can also be streamed to your smart device using the specifically designed app.. The 43 hydrotherapy jets deliver a complex & powerful massage supported by the high pressure, 2-speed pump. All jets can be adjusted at both the jet head and via the air diverter; the diverter regulates the intensity of the massage through subtle adjustments in air content within the jet stream. Each seat within the spa has its own jet configuration offering a diverse level of therapy throughout. It also features a quality bluetooth music system with two waterproof speakers and internal subwoofer. Clear, crisp sound can now be streamed from your portable device, with volume and track adjustment easily controlled via the spa's waterproof touch screen. EcoPur filtration eliminates metals and toxins naturally found in water, resulting in a clearer, fresher spa. Filtration is further enhanced by the inclusion of the ozone system, killing stubborn bacteria and reducing the need for additional chemicals. This proves we don't cut corners, this spa comes in at the cost of a family car! Our guests can enjoy their evening with subtle light from blue up lighters , and the garden has a southern aspect, with rattan sofa and large table and arm chairs with table, also with a 3.5m Anthracite parasol, The patio area and decking step up into the lawn, which is surrounded by six foot high fencing, this means seating , tubbing and dinning is even lower creating a sunken sun trap with absolute privacy and is ideal if you wish to fire up the three burner gas BBQ (Full set of tools provided for BBQing), we also have a fire pit and more! If you hanker for straying a bit further in the outdoors, then out of the garden gate and you are into miles of woodland walks (map on the wall of the 500 acres in total without crossing a road) or, venture onto the adjacent heathland on bikes, which we can organise hire for your stay if you would like? Even if you clock up the miles on your walk, you will be lucky to come across anyone else, but you will find miles more beautiful scenery without a house in sight. We except guests with well-behaved pets, but we require information on your pet before we accept the booking. We want your stay to meet our high standards, and so, we like to change the water in the hot tub at least every guest or every week, but this takes more than 12 hours to empty, refill and get back to the correct temperature, therefore to allow this to happen, we do appreciate a prompt departure to allow us to be able to do this for our next guests. However, if we do not have guests arriving the following afternoon we are happy to be more flexible on departure times, so please just ask. Also, weekends are our most popular time for bookings, so we do discount week nights and longer stays! With one king size bedroom for two, the lodge also caters for two more on the double sofa bed in the front room and we can also provide for a fold away spare bed and bedding on request. Please browse our pictures, although our guests (and us) don't believe they do the lodge justice it deserves!! Why not come see for yourselves!! We do ask for a minimum stay of two nights, this is because cleaning, inside and out thoroughly can take four to five hours. Also, the emptying, filling and regular maintenance of the hot tub has to be completed and returning it to operating temperature can take many hours. We always clean and flush the hot tub every week, and it is only for your exclusive use only during your stay.
This is an ideallic and remote spot loved by all! We have gone to extra lengths on the detail, the mattress was one of the most expensive available and framed by a beech wood, but it is not just about how much we spend on the stuff inside and out., Our cleaner spends 3-4 hours after every guest departure making sure it is spotless, we want you stay to be perfect and for us it has to be very clean, and that goes for the Hottub, we spend many hours after every guest, cleaning pipes, changing / cleaning filters, changing water and cleaning the tub and did I say fresh water, it is a major exercise as the hot tub takes an hour to empty, over two to fill, and it can take eight hours or more to reach the ideal temperature, so if we don't have time we can do a partial change, and a deep clean, as we look to to do a full change every week, not the two months as recommended by the manufacturer and as others do, on top and as a matter of course we balance the water condition twice daily, for us this has to be clean as, you would not want to share someone else's bath! We had our first guest propose in the Hottub in Stiltz December 15, there are some occasions best remembered under a carpet of stars in a dark sky in water set to 103 degrees with a 4,500 bubbles per second, we set the seen as best we can, we do the detail so you can forget it! But we have had guests whom have spent till 5am in the Hottub and slept till 3pm, we do not do your normal week, if you live in Essex, Devon, London or Hertfordshire, you will have an experience designed to be far away from the routine and some time away from the buzz with someone special! Our guests can enjoy their stay, relaxing in the hot tub on the outdoor decked area, with commanding views over the peaceful North Norfolk countryside surrounding The Lodge, or BBQ on the decked area to the rear and lounge on the sofa!! We decorate in side and out at Christmas. If you are planning a special break then let us know what we can do to make you mr say extra special, that way your holiday can start the second you arrive and if it is chilly you may want to find a roaring waiting for you to toast your toes, just let us know! If you are unsure read the reviews, or stay and be miles away from the daily graft and write your own story! We like our guests to enjoy their stay, some regular Airbnb guests and new to us have said Stiltz our other property is the best place they have ever stayed, we expect the lodge to be the same for families and couples!
  • Beautiful, peaceful location. Within easy distance of lots of activities you might want to do, Chrissy and Paul were very informative and kind. Great hosts. We would love to come back sometime.

  • My partner and I stayed for two nights when I did a Marriotts Way run. The lodge is very close to Aylsham where the trail ends. The location is lovely, very private and secluded but right by beautiful woodland walks. Its very comfortable and well equipped. We were warm and cosy & felt right at home, and enjoyed using the hot tub with morning birdsong and under the stars too. Sunday lunch at the Marsham Arms was really good.

    Fabia2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was top-notch, the lodge is lovely and we will definitely look to return! Thanks for the local recommendations and striking the perfect balance between friendly host without being overly involved! The lodge was lovely and clean with really nice homely touches. The hot tub was blissful, really nice to have the music and lights on while bathing. Lovely rural location but close enough to pop into town which we did on the first night. Apart from that, we didn’t leave. The smokehouse was a lovely space too and the addition of films / games was great as we made use of them. All in all, if you want a stylish but warm space to relax with open fire, hot tub and nothing but fields/woodland around you, book this.

  • This two nights break was booked as a surprise Christmas present for my parents. Sarah was amazing from the day I booked and all the way through the stay, even sending a gift certificate so I had something to give my parents on Christmas Day. My parents had an amazing time and couldn't comment anymore highly about the decor, generous welcome goodies and Sarah's hospitality. They are keen to return and I will be booking a stay for myself!

  • Sarah is an amazing host, with such a great attention to detail. We had a lovely trip away with our fur babies. We saw the seals and their pups, explored the beautiful Norfolk countryside, stumbled across Lord Nelsons birthplace and enjoyed a dog friendly Christmas Market in Creake Abbey. A great little holiday if you love your dogs and want to spend some quality time with them, lots of great walks and a lovely cosy cottage to relax in afterwards. Love from Amie, Dan, Tilly (Westie) and Miley (Cocker Spaniel)

Located in a quiet country lane it is central to a number of lovely places to enjoy- walks by the sea, strolls in nice villages and the coastal towns also. It is like a home from home and very comfortable. Colin and Diane have thought of everything for the cottage.

  • What a fabulous little place. The Brick Kiln cottage is clean, cosy and picturesque. We loved every minute. The amenities and the little touches were lovely. Then to warm by the log fire on an evening was amazing. The cottage is in a fab location if you are looking for walks or north Norfolk seaside villages. The views around the cottage are spectacular and we were greeted every morning by the chickens which was a nice touch. We will definitely be going back to Brick Kiln in the future.

  • We had a lovely stay in the cottage, it was well equipped, cosy and newly decorated in a stylish and comfortable way. Elaine was very welcoming and helpful, she met us upon arrival, showed us the property and provided information on the local area. The local area is fantastic, with a variety of shops, eateries and amenities. Anyone looking to book should give the Shambles bistro a try, excellent food, value for money and allergy friendly. Plus the chip shop about 30 yards down the road is also an excellent choice. Car parking is on a public car park on Vicarage Street (just behind the cottage), is reasonably priced and felt safe enough.

  • This is a lovely little get away, amazingly close to the beach which is perfect for everyone and especially dog owners. The place is very well kitted out and stylishly decorated and the hosts were fantastic. We’d definitely recommend this place and we’ll likely come again too.

  • Chalet One is a beautiful holiday home in a great location, just a few minutes from the beach. Despite horrible weather we were warm and cosy inside and could barely hear the wind howling outside. The bed was really comfortable and everything was furnished well. Daphne and Sarah have gone to a lot of thought with the extra touches and you can see the love they have put into the chalet. The kitchen was well equipped with some really thoughtful snacks left for us and the dog! The beach at Bacton is lovely and long making it perfect for chucking a ball for the dog. The site itself was quiet and clean and I'm sure it's beautiful in the summer- you can see the sea from the chalet windows!

    El2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Super well thought out space great base for local area and access right to the beach for the family or a couple to enjoy, local cafe was dog friendly and they were super kind. Many thanks

  • My little dog and I stayed at Chalet One during the throes of Storm ‪Ciara‬, possibly the windiest day of the year! The chalet was warm and cosy, and we spent a lovely weekend walking, chilling and reading. Saturday was glorious and we were able to hike for miles on the beach which is just a few minutes walk from the chalet. It is wonderful - completely unspoiled. The chalet is compact and has a nice beachy feel without being overly ’themed’. There is unlimited Wifi and Daphne and Sarah have thought of just about everything to ensure a restful stay - including a really comfortable bed. I would definitely book again.

  • What a super welcome! From the moment she opened the door, Andrea was lovely and I felt totally at home throughout my all too short stay. (I also had an issue with my onward travel arrangements which she was instrumental in sorting out) Andrea's house is warm and comfortable. My room was clean and Trixie the dog is very friendly. Thanks, Andrea.

  • Fantastic and homley experience like a home from home! Will definitely recommend and use in the future.

  • Andrea is a fantastic host (and Trixie too of course!) and a lovely person. Very quickly I felt like I was staying with an old friend, not a complete stranger. On top of that, the place was clean and the bed comfy. I hope to be returning soon.

  • Had a lovely weekend stay at Andrea's . Of all the airbnbs ive stayed at , Andrea was the most welcoming host of all . Close to the East coast and Norfolk Broads , only a few miles drive , it's an ideal location . Shops in nearby North Walsham . All good experience , enjoy !

  • Once again an enjoyable place to stay.

    Jonathan2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most special places I’ve ever stayed, certainly with one of the most special, most talented and most generous people. People would pay to stay with Andrea but she thinks that charging too much would be taking advantage. Just wonderful - room, house, hospitality. Mark my words, she’ll be offering ‘Experiences’ soon and get the game and fortune she deserves but doesn’t care for. We need more #CreativeCarers like Andrea in the world. Grateful to AirBnB for the connection. It’s what it is all about. People. #OneLessStranger

  • I had a great stay at Andrea’s. The place is spotlessly clean and Andrea is very welcoming and happy to chat. Although the room is small it’s comfortable and has the necessary amenities. It totally suited me for just one night and I slept well. I spent several minutes in the early morning watching a number of house martins flit around the sky then come back to the nest under the eaves just above my window - that was magical for me! If you’re looking for good, clean, friendly, budget accommodation this is a good place.

    Helen2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea is a perfect host. Gave all the necessary and detailed information. Very good communication. Very polite and friendly person. Her home was nice and sparkling clean. Everything was perfect. Recommend the listing and the host.

A pet friendly brick and flint cottage in the heart of Happisburgh on the Norfolk coast. The Gig House is perfect for summer breaks or winter escapes alike and is ideally located just 10 minutes from a glorious sandy beach.
The Gig House sleeps: 2 adults and a baby/toddler. We welcome pets - up to 2 large or medium dogs or 3 small dogs, 2 cats and any pet in a cage - and charge £25 per dog or cat per visit. We live across the courtyard and, hopefully, will be there to welcome you and to deal with any questions or requests at any time during your stay. It is located in one of Norfolk's most picturesque coastal villages. The village itself is now famous for the oldest evidence of human activity outside of Africa with footprints discovered on the beach to be over 900 thousand years old. The cosy local pub, within 50 yards of the cottage, echoes the local connection with Sherlock Holmes author Arthur Conan Doyle who visited many times and wrote one of the detective mysteries here. There is also a small shop and post office in the village. In fact the local villagers will proudly boast of the number of other illustratrious visitors who have been drawn to this unique place from Robinson Cruso author Daniel Defoe, cricketer W.C. Grace, sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, poet John Betjeman, writer PD James and even the Queen Mother once arriving by helocopter to visit a cousin who lived in the village. The village is a must for those who enjoy the English countryside and its beaches in all seasons. Parking is in the courtyard or on the very quiet lane outside the house. Bus stop 20 m from Albion Cottage but with an infrequent country service. Train station 7 miles away. All week long bookings start on a Saturday and short breaks start on a Monday or Friday, except at Christmas. We do not accept short breaks (less than a week) at peak times (school holidays). Out of season we can be more flexible with length of stay and start day. If you have a larger party this property can be booked in conjunction with Albion Cottage at a special rate (property also on Airbnb).

  • Beautifully designed cottage, very lovely touches including the delicious scones. Liz is super helpful and really knowledgable about the geology and archaeology of the area. A wonderful stay!

  • A lovely little retreat to stay in a lovely village in Norfolk. We loved the thoughtful touches which included fresh flowers and scones with cream and jam. A cozy place just right for two people and a dog. It was very well equipped, very clean and had homely touches. Located in a quiet village, a quick walk to the sea.

    Helena2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • A great little cosy stay. The house is small but for two adults, a 6month year old and a big dog, we had plenty of room. Small kitchen with everything you need. Bedroom was warm and cosy and bathroom was really nice and very clean. Location was great. A five / ten minute walk to the beach and easy drives out to the main areas. Very quiet little village with local shops about a ten minute drive away

    Chris2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy little spot. Walking distance to the beach & pub. Would love to return in the summer.

    Maggie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Such a lovely home with thoughtful touches. Liz gave us some tips on the local area meaning we got to see seal cubs on the beach, experience great walks and enjoy good pub food. Would definitely recommend!

  • A lovely stay in this quiet, cosy location only a 10 minute walk from Happisburgh beach. A lovely base from which to explore the Norfolk countryside and to then retreat to at the end of the day. A lovely space with nice touches such as scones and clotted cream on arrival, fresh flowers and spare blankets. It was easy to find and somewhere we loved spending time. Would recommend it to anyone!

    Adam2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The Gig House is a splendid place to spend a few days. Cosy, and with everything you could want for break from the everyday. It sits in the lee of the huge Happisburgh church tower and is close by to a very good pub with excellent food. The beach is a short walk away and there are any amount of footpaths. We saw great flocks of birds passing overhead at dusk and great skeins of wild geese coming in from the sea in the mornings. Lots to do in the general area, but a nice quiet traditional village to come back to! The Gig House is clean and attractively furnished, Liz, the owner was welcoming and eager to make our stay a success. We’d thoroughly recommend it as a base to explore the area or just as a bolt-hole from the pressures of the daily round.

  • Andrea is a very kind and welcoming host and we felt at home in her lovely cottage. Trixie the dog is also excellent company and we very much enjoyed the fresh bread and wood fire mentioned in previous reviews! Highly recommend as a place to stay and explore the area.

  • We had a great stay at Andrea’s. Our whole stay was very relaxed and we felt very at home. The bread was delicious! Andrea gave us some really useful local information and showed a real interest in our plans for the weekend. The location is perfect, short walk to the train station. Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • We spent one night at Andrea’s for a walking weekend. Communication was great, self check in was really easy, and Andrea has a large array of books on the area, and walk advice. Also, wonderful homemade bread for breakfast with the company of her lovely dog Trixie!

    Paris2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Andreas place was absolutely lovely. The attention to all the details that made the trip so special were amazing. Also she has a lovely dog that was cuddly and friendly to us during our stay. We had a fresh loaf of bread at breakfast which was kind and unexpected. Along with the wood fire in the evening which made it all very cosy. Andrea was great at giving space if we needed it and being a fab lady for conversation too. There’s lots of flyers and books at the house if you want info about the local area, the old railway trail and the restored canal. Loved it all

Good sized double bedroom on ground floor in a nice family friendly detached chalet bungalow in lovely village of Drayton. We're 3 mins from nearest bus stop for City Centre.
The room is a double bedroom located on the ground floor overlooking the large back garden. The room has a double bed, wardrobe, drawers + a mirror, hair dryer & lamp to make you feel comfortable.
Drayton village has good pubs/restaurants, a quaint English Cafe as well as a new Dominos Takeaway. There is also a post office, bank, Pharmacy, Tescos store and a leisure centre within walking distance from home. There is a great ex-railway line that has been converted into a footpath all the way into the City (about 4 miles walk) which is very picturesque.
  • It’s my first experience with Airbnb ( used to go by booking.com) and Sean and his wife Nikki, are polite - they actually give preferences to me for all the utilities that are of common usage. That sometimes made me fell guilty - given the minimal amount they charge. As a first timer in uK , Sean took the burden of driving me through the neighborhood showing all the places and ways and modes to go my training center. I must say I get the feel of going back to my own home every day after my days at training center for last 2 weeks.

    Chencho2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sean was really easy to communicate with during the booking process. He was very flexible, which really helped and the room was perfect and comfortable! Lovely little chocolates on arrival and the perfect cup of tea the following morning...a great short stay!

  • Great location in a quiet town on one of Norwich's converted railway lines (Marlow Way) offering a great walk/bike ride into the city, or out into the countryside. Sean and nikki are really kind and hospitable and they have a lovely family home. The room is big, the bed comfy and the cats curious! Highly recommended

  • We had a wonderful stay with Angie. The kids adored the animals and she was an amazing host! The breakfast was lovely and Angie accommodated any special requests. The children loved helping with the horses and riding on the mini-tractor. There is so much to see and do in the area, we would love to come back again and we would definitely stay with Angie.

  • 4 of us and 2 dogs had to do a very last minute trip up to Aylsham and found Angie's place at a very late stage in the day, but that wasn't a problem and Angie was more than accomodating. She's a great host and loves her house and animals very much. Everything was spotless and the house is really well laid out. And it's so quiet when you're in bed. We had a delicious breakfast cooked for us in the morning and got to meet Lola the parrot. Can't recommend this place highly enough and will definitely stay there again.

    Phil2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I stayed in Angie:s lovely home for just a night but we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Angie is very welcoming and a great host allowing us free range of her home. The added bonus was her Parrot 'Lola' and dog Archie who both contributed to the welcome and the homely atmosphere. We will definitely go back when we can stay longer and I would recommend Angie's to all.

Great country location situated on the bridle path and approximately 1 mile away from Happisburgh village and beach, there you will find the famous lighthouse which can be seen for miles around, a warm and welcoming dog friendly pub, village post office and fresh fish mongers. 10 Miles from the Norfolk Broads where boats are readily available for hire, some of the more larger nearby towns are Stalham, Wroxham, and Cromer where you can try some Cromer Crab. With plenty to do and see all year round, the grey seal colonies come to give birth on the sandy beaches of Norfolk and can be seen just a few miles away during the winter months.
  • Cosy and warm. All amenities as described with a thoughtful welcome hamper. The stars at night are a real treat.

  • What an amazing place at the kestrel, so cosy, quiet and perfect for walking the dog. I encountered my very first lighthouse on our Christmas day walk, which was on my bucket list of things to see/do (super excited about that). Loved looking out of the skylight at night whilst in bed just watching the stars. A perfect place to wine down and distress. Will definitely return. Also a big thank you to Marcel for the welcome pack of Christmas treats and even a little something for marlie our dog. Very much appreciated. What a perfect way to spend our Christmas away.

    Kiesha2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic few nights at Kestrel holiday barn. The accommodation is clean, bright, warm and comfortable and is equipped with everything we needed. The enclosed garden is ideal for the dog. The whole place is great for anyone who wants a break at the Norfolk coast.

    Jenny2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was an absolutely gem! The host is extremely responsive and helpful and his suggestions of where to visit and things to do made our trip absolutely fantastic and better than we had hoped. Perfect not just for dogs but for our newborn daughter too. Would absolutely revisit

    Jess2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • A clean, roomy and warm accommodation with everything you should need for a perfect stay. On arrival already had milk in the fridge, plus tea/coffee/sugar, and a welcome basket for both humans (and canines if you're bringing them). It was very quiet all around so slept very well. A good size Tesco store is 4 miles up the road with the cheapest fuel in the area plus you can shop for your provisions very easily instead of bringing it all with you. On this occasion I didn't get to visit the beach and beyond for some walking due to all the rain but you are also within 40mins each way of plenty of places to visit including Great Yarmouth, Cromer, and several National Trust properties so things to do in all weathers. Would highly recommend a stay here. If there are more in your party there are other properties to hire within the same grounds so you can all be together in up to 4 different homes.

    Debby2019-09-25T00:00:00Z

  • Beautiful location situated a few minutes from a very quiet beach. The Kestrel was as described, very clean and thoughtful touches for children and dogs. The bed was very comfortable and we had a travel cot set up for our son, although we were also offered a single bed for him! The kitchen has all the utensils and dinner-ware you need for a stress free holiday.

    Philippa2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is secluded enough while close to the beach (by car) and very dog friendly. The patio is enclosed so dogs can play safely. It has a shared sauna that was surprisingly comfortable and well made. The cottage itself is light and modern, and while the bathroom is less modern it has a lot of accessibility aids which may help those with issues. Kitchen well equipped and a lot of nice touches like coffee, tea and milk and even a bottle of wine.

Scandinavian-style wooden cabin on a quiet chalet park where children and dogs are welcome; situated within easy walking distance of sandy beach, friendly village centre and golf course. Parking space next to the chalet. Sorry, maximum number of adults is 3 - plus 2 children: and infants under 2 years of age still count as a person! If in doubt, or a special request, please contact me.
  • Lovely little cabin, with everything you need to enjoy a weekend at the sea. Everything was clean and tidy and portable heaters kept us nice and toasty in early October (remember to take £1 coins for the meter) The location is great, beach is 5-10 minutes away, Mundesley centre is pretty and includes a few shops, pubs, takeaways and a little museum. Easy route to Cromer. The whole area is very dog friendly and our pup was very happy at the cabin. Thank you, Brigette. We had everything we needed and all the communication from begining to end was friendly and helpful.

  • A lovely little chalet in a great location. We stayed for two nights for a mini anniversary break. The host Brigette was very helpful and the communication prompt! We arrived late and check in was still very simple. The chalet is lovely, clean and well set out. There was only me, my wife and our Cockapoo so space was not an issue, but there would be ample for a family of 4 not a problem. The chalet park is walking distance from the sea front and town and there is a golf course very close as well. Added bonus of a Tesco express literally a stones throw away for any food or drink.! Great value for money and would recommend for a cheap and cheerful get away! Thank you Brigette !

  • Brigette is a lovely, thoughtful host & her cabin is charming & cosy. It is in a holiday park of chalets but it is a little apart and definitely the cutest! A very well organised space perfect for a family or 3-4 friends - it has 3 small bedrooms, 1 double, 1 single, & one double in an attic space up a ladder which would be really fun for kids of about 8 upwards, & there's also a sofa bed - it's pretty amazing how much is neatly fitted into this cabin! The weather was pretty wet & windy while we were there but it was fun just being in the cabin, playing board games and eating well. Don't forget to bring bed linen & towels, Brigette has provided it with everything else, including thoughtful things like hot water bottles. There's a Tesco Express maybe 2 minutes walk away if you've forgotten anything, & it's just a few minutes walk to the sea, too.

  • The Chimes cabin at Mundersley village was a great place to stay for our short break. Only two of us went plus our dog. It is in a fantastic location, 2 minutes to the Tesco express and 5 minutes to the beach ,although down some steep steps- which could be avoided fury down the beach. The cabin is very basic, but well equipped with everything you need to cook and be comfortable. The site was very quiet although we did go at the end of September, but perfect for a relaxing chilled break. Bridgette the host was very helpful and met us on arrival to explain everything and said goodbye on departure. All in all we really enjoyed our time at Chimes.

  • We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Brigette's Chalet. We are a family of 5 and there was ample space for us all. There is lots of outside space too! Brigette was a wonderfully accommodating host. Communication was faultless, with lots of helpful information before and on arrival. On arrival we were met with a welcoming smile and after showing us around Brigette left us to enjoy our holiday knowing she was nearby if we needed anything. The chalet is a really charming space with everything we needed to self cater, the kitchen was very well equipped, the beds were comfortable and the whole chalet was very clean and well presented. Brigette even kindly brought some games over for the children. There is a Tesco express just 2mins away, and the beach is a short 10min walk. The chalet is easy to find using the post code and Brigette will help with directions to. The electric meter takes £1 coins, but is very economic! Don't be put off by the shortage of reviews, Brigette is an experienced host, just new to Air BnB. We can't wait to visit again!

Cygnets Nest is a spacious annex attached to a family home and set in Bengate, part of the quiet parish of Worstead. It has its own entrance and hallway leading to the large double bedroom, wet room (with shower, W/C, sink and storage units) and living area comprising of a spacious kitchen/diner and lounge. There are French doors to the front and the rear of the property that open to outdoor seating areas. The annex has beautiful countryside views looking out over farmland and woodland.
In the kitchen there is a dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartment and dining table and chairs. This leads through to the cosy lounge with warming wood burner and flat screen TV/DVD. In the bedroom there is a double bed, dresser and wardrobes. Cygnets Nest is in an excellent position for walking or cycling with direct access to a network of footpaths and the popular long distance footpath of Weavers Way, which runs from Great Yarmouth to Cromer. Bengate is a short walk from the village of Worstead, famous for weaving and its annual village festival in July. There is a pub serving food daily, a magnificent medieval church and a train station (where you can travel the Bittern line into the city of Norwich or towards the seaside towns of Cromer or Sheringham). A short drive away you can find many other attractions such as the beautiful and diverse Norfolk coastline and the Norfolk Broads which can be explored by boat / canoe, or on the many footpaths alongside them.
  • Perfect place to get away from it all. Had everything we needed and more. Loved the log burner.

The kitchen is also very roomy with everything you need. The bedroom is spacious and the bed is one of the most comfortable we've slept in. The property is set in a very quiet location and so peaceful. We would highly recommend it and we will definitely return. Extremely good value for money.

Dragonfly Barn is located just outside the seaside village of Mundesley. It is surrounded by farmland, and is just over a mile from the sandy beach at Mundesley. The village has a variety of shops, cafes, a hotel and a pub. Mundesley is a great location for exploring Norwich and the Broads to the south, and the seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham to the west. For anyone interested in wildlife deer and hares can often be seen in the fields opposite the barn.
The barn is a single storey building with an open plan lounge/diner and kitchen. The bedroom is separate with a double bed, and ensuite shower room.
We think Mundesley is quite a magical place. It is quiet, and very welcoming to visitors and locals alike. The beach is long and sandy with plenty of room for dogs and people.
  • Great little cottage, love being in the country yet so close to the beautiful beaches. Safe dog garden and of course the fantastic log burner. Definitely visit again.

'Beachside' is a family owned cottage that is minutes from the beach, located in Rainbows End holiday park. This spacious and quiet park is situated within 13 acres of mostly grassland which is perfect for family games and dog walking. An ideal base for relaxing and visiting the many varied attractions of Norfolk. We are also pleased to announce that free WIFI will be available from spring 2020.
Bacton Woods is close by which is ideal for walks and picnics and the Norfolk Broads is within 6 miles where you can enjoy a day on the river. There are National trust properties like Blickling and Felbrigg Hall and the nature reserves along the North Norfolk Coast which is also within easy travelling distance. A great place to stay whether you choose explore or just chill!
Our favourite place to visit for a treat is Sugar and Spice, where as well as delicious breakfasts and lunches, their cakes are really scrummy!! Bacton Fish and Chips, all cooked fresh to order. Oriental Garden Chinese restaurant friendly service to eat in or takeaway. Poachers Pocket pub in neighbouring village of Walcott, excellent food and friendly staff. Village shop, well stocked with a good variety of food, drink and more.
  • This was an ideal location from which to explore North Norfolk and not far from the Broads either. Well maintained with some lovely personal touches, all that you needed for self catering, plus a well stocked food welcome basket on arrival to ease you into your stay and dog friendly too.

  • Was an amazing place to stay for my partner and I! Lovely and quiet, the place was spotless and very home like. The beach is less then a 5 minute walk which was lovely. We had an issue regarding WiFi which I messaged Gaynor and she messaged me back within 10 minutes sorting it out for us! Would recommend to all my family and friends!

  • Gaynor's little chalet is the perfect base to explore the North Norfolk coast. I don't remember the description saying that it has a sea view so that was a very lovely surprise. The place was absolutely spotless, and given that they welcome dogs, there's absolutely no evidence of any previous four legged lodgers (except the basket of doggy items provided) - a bonus for non dog owners. We didn't need to use much of the kitchen (as we have family nearby) but it was extremely well equipped. The plates, bowls and cutlery for kids were a bonus too. The beds are very comfortable (and I can be difficult to please in this area), the pillows and duvets just right, there's enough storage available, it's lovely and warm and the sofas are comfortable enough to sit and read for hours (as I did in the evenings). We only wish it was less windy so we could have sat outside and watched the boats go by whilst the kids played on the square (they were up, dressed and raring to run around and do cartwheels on our first morning). Gaynor, your kind gestures were very much appreciated when we arrived and for our first morning. You really have thought of everything and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend your lovely little place to others.

    Hannah2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Airbnb booking and we were not disappointed! Gaynor kept us well informed throughout and the chalet and location was perfect. Lovely little touches like eggs, cereals and bread when we arrived, spotlessly clean and literally 1 minute away from the beach! It was our first time taking the pup on the beach and he had a great time. We’ve been to Norfolk before but never to Bacton and we are in love! Local shop and pub are within walking distance, the food at Poachers Pocket was good and the staff were very friendly. So glad we found this place, would love to return in the summer if possible.

    Neil2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay with great gestures of the hosts. Had a lovely hamper of food which wasn't expected but so truly thoughtful. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

The house is a Georgian style farmhouse, parts of which date back to the 14th century. The rooms are spacious with lots of natural light coming through the traditional large windows, and beautiful views of the garden and surrounding countryside beyond.
A light comfortable twin bedroom in a lovely Georgian farmhouse, surrounded by garden. Ideal for couples, families, solo adventures and business travellers. The bedroom has a wardrobe and chest of drawers, plus tea and coffee making facilities. Meals are served in the dining room looking out onto the garden. The large breakfast includes water, orange juice, milk, yoghurt, fresh melon, cereals, granolas, ham, cheese, toast, croissants, home made jams and chutneys plus a pot of tea and cafetière of coffee. Free Wifi and a generous off road parking. The house is surrounded by a 2 acre garden, and beyond are arable fields and meadows with livestock. The nearest sandy beach is only 5 minutes drive away, as is a lovely 113 hectare wood, the broads are a 15 minute drive, whilst the Weavers Way footpath is a 5 minute walk from here. North Walsham and Worstead stations are both only 3 miles from the house, and the Bittern line from these can take you to Norwich, Sheringham or Cromer.
This is a rural hamlet with lovely countryside and the nearby market town of North Walsham.
  • A fantastic place to stay and Maire is a great host.

    Bob2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Maire's house is situated about 10-15 minutes from the town of North Walsham. When you arrive at Maire's house you will think like we did, that you have come to the wrong address. Her house is like an large old manor house in its own grounds, parts of it dating back 100's of years and other parts coming forward to modern day. The rooms have high ceilings and sash windows with freshly painted walls and a mixture of wooden floor boards and tile floors. The bedroom you will use is a large bedroom with an adjacent room of equal size which is the bathroom, which has a separate bath and shower cubicle. You have sole use of a downstairs living room to relax or watch television . For breakfast you have a chose of a continental breakfast with home made bread, jams and pickles, which I recommend or at an additional cost - a full English breakfast. Your host Maire is very amiable person and will assist you in any way to make your stay a pleasant one I highly recommend this place

Welcome to Our Peace of Norfolk!! We are on the beautiful coast of North Norfolk at a place called Bacton. Our newly built chalet is modern, quirky and airy. We are very close to the beach and you can hear the sea from the chalet. The Chalet Park is privately owned so no noisy clubhouse or bars on-site. Everyone at the park is very friendly. The site is very peaceful and relaxing just like our chalet. It’s a lovely space to just sit and read a book or cosy up and watch a dvd and eat chocolate!
We lovingly rebuilt our chalet from foundations up! Blood sweat, swearing and tears! But here it is and it’s lovely even if I do say so myself😁. The chalet is light and airy and just peaceful to be in. We are complete animal lovers and that’s why we took the decision to allow your family pet (s)whether it’s a pooch or a moggy to stay too. We are restricting the chalet to 2 dogs and 2 cats. There are things for you to do at the chalet........ swing ball for the kids and for the adults too (can get quite competitive!) There’s a DVD player with various dvds for everyone. Books and colouring books. Jigsaws and board games to play. Badminton set, bowls and lots of other bits and bobs. A BBQ for the nicer weather is available also. We are a stones throw away from the sandy beach of Bacton. You can walk for miles. You can have a shower in the chalet but there is not a flushing toilet BUT we have toilet blocks everywhere on the park. Separate ones for male and female. All maintained and clean. Our block is LESS than a minute away. WE HAVE NOW installed a brand new camping toilet which is in the bathroom. It’s very handy to use if you need a wee in the middle of the night.. (Like us ladies) All we ask is that you please empty it yourself into the toilet block loos. All cleaning stuff, disinfectant, disposable gloves are provided. We provide tea, coffee, milk, all bed linen, towels, hair dryer and even a dog treat for your pooch😀 We have not provided WIFI at the chalet at the moment as it’s nice sometimes when you are away to put your phone away instead of being glued to it. There is 3G if you can’t live without your mobile. Internet coming SOON early 2020!! If you have a special occasion coming up like a birthday or anniversary and you want us to provide a surprise for someone in the chalet then let me know and we will see what we can do. This may incur a smallish extra charge depending on what you want. Message me for further information :-)
The beach is lovely! A great place to just go for a walk and not have to think about much apart from how nice the view is! There is a great cafe/restaurant approx 10 minute walk away that serve the best CAKE!!! and a mean breakfast! A bit further up the coast but in walking distance is a great pub where their food is lush especially the carvey on a Sunday. There’s also a fab Chinese and fish and chip shop too all in walking distance. For your bread and milk and bits and bobs there is a convenience shop There are various walks to do and places to visit. A great safe and peaceful area to stay at. Whether you are wanting a family getaway, a couple with your beloved pooch(s) or a walker or a cyclist fanatic Bacton and our chalet is the best place to be.!! If you want to visit the city centre, Norwich is less than an hour away where you can shop till you drop or grab a bite to eat in the lanes! Sheringham and Cromer along the coast are definite places to visit! With Cromer having its own pier where you can grab a coffee or an ice-cream or try a famous Cromer crab! Further a field you can visit the Queens Beach at Holcombe........... Norfolk is definitely becoming more of a popular holiday destination, there’s so much to do with beautiful places to view and visit. Come here and see for yourself.............
  • Ruth was a great host, the chalet was super clean and had everything we needed and more. There was a lovely hamper on arrival and the fire and fairy lights were on to greet us. Our dog also had a bed, toys and treats provided which was unexpected and lovely. Bacton beach is great and a couple of minutes walk from the Chalet. We walked on the beach to Mundesley and had lunch at The Ship Inn. Visited the seals at Horsey. Sea Palling beach is wonderful too. Dinner and pool at The Poachers Pocket. Breakfast at Sugar & Spice in Bacton was great and their cakes were amazing. Overall a great stay, I definitely recommend it!

    Kate2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully located chalet so close to the never-ending clean sandy beach. All the amenities you could want and super clean. We stayed during a cold spell in February and could easily keep the chalet warm in all the rooms. A well-stocked convenience store is only 50m away with lovely places to eat nearby. Will definitely stay again. Great communication with the host and clear instructions.

  • Ruth was a great host, the direction we got were great and the Chalet was easy to find, we stayed in the Chalet over Christmas 2019 with our girls, Ruth was so kind to put some Christmas decorations up and even a tree, The chalet was immaculately clean when we arrived and the cupboards were full of little things to make our stay easier (tea, coffee, sugar, hot choc, marshmallows, cereal, shop 50 metres away if you need anything) All the cleaning equipment was available as well, we didn’t have to buy a thing. The Chalet was lovely and warm on arrival, although it got a little chilly at night but what do you expect staying in a chalet over Christmas. (I’m sure Ruth don’t mind the heater on 24/7 but I like to turn it off at night) I cooked a Christmas dinner for the family with ease and each of the other nights , literally every utensil under the sun, The beds were comfortable and loved the darkest at night, toilet block is just behind the chalet so no trek is needed. Little toilet in the bathroom for number 1’s, My girls loved the bunk beds as well. Our stay was absolutely perfect, maybe one little pain is no phone signal or internet, not a problem for myself but the my children wasn’t so keen. (Never spoke to them so much haha) All in all it’s such a great place. I probably missed a load of things out but nothing was forgotten. Thanks Ruth

  • Thank you so much - we had a fabulous time. The location to the beach, your beautiful chalet which has been so thoughtfully restored, the well stocked cupboards and the hamper with all the human and doggie treats - perfect! The Annexe provides light, attractive, comfortable self contained accommodation in our recently refurbished home. We are in the centre of Aylsham with easy access to the Bure Valley Railway, pubs, cafes and restaurants. The Annexe has its own entrance and is on the ground floor with parking outside. Guests have the use of their own brand new shower room and lobby with under floor heating. They may also use the utility room equipped with fridge, washing machine and tumble dryer.
The kitchenette is equipped with a kettle, a toaster and provisions for a continental breakfast. There are several cafes, restaurants and pubs in easy walking distance where more substantial food can be obtained. Aylsham is a very attractive, historic market town which is ideally located for access to Blickling Hall, the beautiful Norfolk coast and the fine city of Norwich.
Despite being in the centre of the town, the property is very quiet. Guests have their own parking space on the drive of the house, just outside the Annexe. Keys Auction house is at the bottom of the road and there are regular markets in the town centre.
  • We had a great three night stay in this sparklingly clean and beautifully appointed cottage. The bed was very comfortable and all amenities perfect. We would have appreciated a small microwave oven to heat food and beverages in the cold of winter but this lack did not detract from our overall enjoyment of our stay. Our hosts, Adrian and Cathie, were very friendly and helpful and we would highly recommend their place to any travelers to or through Aylsham. We would love to stay again if we find ourselves in the vicinity.

Wood burning stove, microwave, toaster and kettle. Compost loo. Only three miles from traditional seaside town of Sheringham. In a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Great walking and cycling country.
  • This is a lovely place to stay. The hosts were friendly. We were worried we might be cold (stayed in February) but with the fire on it was super cosy. The stars at night were incredible.

  • Charming place in stunning grounds. Natasha and Anne were perfect hosts.

  • The cabin is exactly as it looks in the pictures. The place is rustic but cosy. Great value for money.

  • Perfect place. Highly recommend.

    Jessica2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay, the hosts are incredibly friendly an welcoming. The hut is lovely, spotlessly clean and is set in a beautiful landscape. It is ideally located for many of the local visitor attractions and a great place to retreat back to after a busy day out. I can't recommend it highly enough and would definitely go back.

  • The cabin is exactly what it looks in the photos. It's very clean and an inviting space to be in. Beautifully quiet if that's what you want. Natasha and Anne are very easy to communicate with. I had a lovely stay there.

    Naomi2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Natasha's place is in a great location with a beautiful view of the Norfolk countryside. It is back to basics, with no shower or hot water, but if that is what you expect (like we did and as per Natasha's description) then you will love the place and the quiet and beautiful location and we can very much recommend staying here. The beach and the village of Sheringham are just a few miles north of Natasha's place, and are lovely for having a quick evening walk on the beach or having a late evening snack.

A pet friendly brick and flint cottage in the heart of Happisburgh on the Norfolk coast. Albion Cottage is perfect for summer breaks or winter escapes alike and is ideally located just 10 minutes from a glorious sandy beach.
Albion Cottage Sleeps: 3 adults and a baby/toddler or 2 adults with 2 children and a baby/toddler or 4 adults (1 adult in a bed settee in the living room). We welcome pets - up to 2 large dogs, 3 medium or small dogs, 2 cats and any pet in a cage - and charge £25 per dog or cat per visit. Accommodation: Ground floor: Porch to tiny hall then left to the dining room with wood and coal stove, the kitchen and the conservatory then out to a small courtyard which is the perfect sun trap. Right from the hall takes you to the living room with open wood and coal fire which can be used as a bedroom sleeping on the bedsette. First floor: Straight stairs up to a landing with a double bedroom with room for the travel cot, at the front of the house, a shower room with walk-in shower, loo and washbasin and a single bedroom with an extra pull out child's bed. We live next door and, hopefully, will be there to welcome you and to deal with any questions or requests at any time during your stay. Parking is on the very quiet lane outside the house. If you have a larger party this property can be booked in conjunction with The Gig House at a special rate (property also on Airbnb).

  • What an Amazing cottage! I loved every minute. Perfectly clean, friendly host, scones with cream and jam on arrival, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back. I do recommend this place for beach walks, lovely local pub and to just relax.

  • Lovely hideaway with quirky decor. Felt like I was definitely living in someone's house - lots of character and easy to get comfortable. I'd recommend to anyone who wanted to peace and quiet for a few days.

  • A very quiet, quaint and beautiful property!

    Nick2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Liz's characterful cottage. It is amazingly well-equipped and felt like a cosy home from home. Loved sitting in front of the fire with a glass of red on a cold night! Liz made our dog Ernie feel very welcome and there were lots of great beaches and walks nearby, as well as excellent pubs. Happisburgh itself is lovely too - very quiet and peaceful. We hope to return!

  • This is a stunning cottage in a gorgeous village. The decor is beautiful and everything was so comfortable. We would certainly come again.

  • lovely house. great spot. excellent hosts

    Andrew2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as it looks in the pictures, but hard to see the attention to detail. From the Morris wallpapers to the wick trimmers and chestnut roasting pan the house is true to its' roots. The fires were easy to light; cosy and snug, just what you need after a bracing walk along the sands. ..... UK winter breaks don't come much better than this and Liz's tips were spot on..... go on.....book it!

  • lovely location, on the sea

    Ryan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time here. The accommodation is well set out, very clean and comfy. The site was nice and quiet and right by the sea, as well as in reasonable distance from the Broads, or a bit further away - the north Norfolk coast. (Wells took us about an hour to get to). We all enjoyed our short stay here. Thank you.
