Whether you are looking to have a romantic getaway for two or to making new family memories, The Mountain Retreat is the perfect place for you! This gem of a cabin is perched on the hillside with everything you need for the ultimate retreat.
The Mountain Retreat is a wonderfully cozy cabin situated on several acres deep in the mountains of North Carolina, in close proximity to Boone, Blowing Rock, West Jefferson and Wilkesboro. The Mountain Retreat is the PERFECT spot for a romantic retreat for 2 or a small family. There is 1 bedroom with a queen bed and a queen size sofa bed in the living room. There is room for an inflatable queen size air mattress if needed (it would be very cozy). Just a stone's throw from the cabin there is the pleasant sound of a mountain stream. The terrain surrounding the cabin is full of plants, flowers, shrubs and fruit trees. We even have a gazebo with swing and a doll house for you to enjoy!
The Mountain Retreat is just a few miles away from the Blue Ridge Parkway and located in a charming cabin community called Creekside Estates. There are only a handful of cabins in the neighborhood, so you can rest assured to experience a most special stay. The Mountain Retreat is located 15 minutes from Boone and 20 minutes to West Jefferson and 45 minutes Blowing Rock. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only 4 miles from the cabin.

  • A great getaway with beautiful views. Truly a cozy cabin tucked in a mountain side, and only about 15 minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway. My husband and I stayed with our dog (who especially loved it) over Christmas. We lit a fire every night and we’re able to cook full meals in the cutest little kitchen. Don’t fret if you don’t have plans, the host had plenty of literature and maps on where to go and what to do. 10/10 would book again.

  • Perfect for my husband and I and our two dogs to get away for the weekend. Definitely would have felt right if there were any more people/pets. Good location about 25 minutes from downtown Boone and closer to West Jefferson which has a great little downtown worth exploring! We had no issues finding the cabin thanks to the great instructions left on how to get there, however there is no cell service so make sure you either print out or download the keypad code prior to arriving, otherwise you’ll have to drive back down to the main road until you get service again to find it (speaking from experience). We would definitely stay here again.

The surrounding area is very quiet and residential. Great for a weekend away! Will be back when in the area.

  • Wonderful experience. A very pleasant stay. We felt very comfortable in their home. Nancy and Johnathan were exceptional hosts. A lovely soaker rub with mineral salts and amenities available in the bathroom. Johnathon cooked up a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs and sausage, toast, organic preserves and coffee and juice. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious. Close to downtown and very conveniently located. We would definitely stay there again.

  • A great house in a great Wilkesboro location. Nancy was very welcoming and a gracious host, as was her husband. I slept well, took a relaxing bath in the morning, and enjoyed coffee and breakfast in the sunroom. If I’m ever in the area again I’ll be sure to book another visit at the Loyola house.

Newly renovated, cozy and quirky, our tiny house is the perfect setting for a relaxing getaway. Our property, a remote location far from the hustle and bustle of city life, is a beautiful valley surrounded by forest. Being movie set builders left us with a lot of set parts, so we incorporated them into this little gem...separate from main house, private deck, full kitchen, AC, record player and huge record selection, hiking trails, swimming pond, zip line, yoga, art installations and more...
First of all, we live VERY remote...the next town is a 25 minute car ride away! The last 3 miles are gravel road and a steep driveway (we have a low rider scion and have had never problems). The property and the tiny house are really surrounded by woods, woods, woods.... The tiny house acommodates 2 adults. We live on 65 acres and adjoin a state forest, have a one acre swimming pond with zipline, a trampoline in the woods and a slackline. there is also a helicopter on the roof next to the cabin in which you can hang out and dream about your next flight far away.....there are meandering hiking trails through the woods, and plenty of nooks and crannies throughout the property to provide you with adventure, fun, relaxation, and inspiration. We also have a yoga studio on the property which is open to everybody. Henry is a certified yoga and acro yoga instructor and is available to give private lessons for singles, couples, and small groups ($35 per 1 1/2 hr session). Bedding includes pillows, linens, and blankets, and towels will be provided. The toilet is a compost toilet! Very user friendly, eco-friendly, and not as scary as it sounds. The compost toilet is cleaned completely after each guest stay and has no 'ick' factor!! We also like to note that we support and love to host members of the LGBT community and Black Lives Matter!!
The neighborhood is woods, woods, woods...Nearby attractions include: Blue Ridge Parkway (20 min drive from tiny house), the little town of Wilkesboro--home of the "Merlefest" in April and "Applefest" in August (30 min drive), West Jefferson and Mt. Jefferson just up the mountain, the town of Boone and hometown of Appalachian State University, and Blowing Rock, home of the Tweetsie railroad. All four towns are nice small towns for strolling, shopping for very good local arts and crafts and just hanging out...
  • Henry and Judith have a beautiful place! The pictures online don’t do it justice! They grounds have exquisite art installations that provide fun entertainment as well as relaxation. I highly recommend this airbnb! Some cool things you may find here are a helicopter, dragon, dinosaur egg, roman bath, and zen garden!

    Alexis2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is totally magical! It’s very remote, but it’s easily the best bnb my girlfriend and I have ever stayed in. The tiny house is wonderfully charming, and the surrounding property is gorgeous. If you’re looking for a relaxed and remote getaway in the blue ridge mountains, I couldn’t recommend anything better.

    Henry2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely one of the coolest places I have ever stayed!! 10/10 would go back again

    Kalee2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A really beautiful place with great hosts. I especially liked the miles of hiking trails through the woods that start directly on the property.

    Jedidiah2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a completely magical, and amazing space to unwind in for a week absolutely loved it! We loved it and would recommend to anyone who needs a serene place to unwind.

    Chantel2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a one of a kind magical place where you go to connect with art, nature, and your inner child. Judith, Henry, and the furbabies are the best host and it shows how much love and effort they put into their masterpiece! The tiny house is clean and has everything you need. You can pack light only bringing clothes and grub. They truly have thought of everything to help you work less and play more. Inspiration sings in every nook and cranny! Closest town is conviently 20-30 mins away if you're in need of a store. Acces to Blue Ridge Parkway is close as well. There is so much adventure throughout the valley your inner child will be heart broken when it's time to leave. So, go breathe in the fresh air and get some clean water at Peaceful Valley, you won't regret it!

    Sharee2019-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The space was perfect for me. From the fully stocked kitchen where I prepared my meals, to the dining table that faced the window where I had the vista of Henry and Judith's gorgeous piece of nature and the birds that alighted on the stump on the deck. The singing of birds every morning was incredible. The bedroom is an underwater paradise with an octopus ceiling mural, a turtle mosaic, paper mache fish dangling from the ceiling. I found myself contantly staring at the Cousteau-like photograph on the night table. Yes, this was my teenage dream bedroom realized! The details in the tiny house are unbelievable. There is a wood stump outside with a variety of heart-shaped stones on it. Also a shrine for icons like the ones I used to see when hiking the mountains in Austria, but instead of saints, it's full of mini dog figurines. So much modern art, it just turns on your brain! And all of this came out of the minds of my amazing hosts! Besides brilliant, they are so friendly and considerate! They just as easily welcomed me into their home as respected my privacy when I needed it. It's not often that you meet balanced people: artistic and intelligent, but also down-to-earth and humble. They are conscientious in everything they do: the care of their guests, the love for their sweet dogs, the maintenance of their home and land. I still don't understand how they do it all. And on top of all this, they've added form to every function: their house is a work of art. Their sculpture garden is a melding of futurism and mysticism that belongs in the museum section of tourism books. If nothing else, you have to go for a hike just to see the art installations they've planted throughout the mountains: the dragon snaking the bottom of the valley! I would come back here in a heart beat... and I plan to.

Secluded in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains on an old dirt road....you will find tranquility. Private entrance on a working farm. Tucked away from the bustle but close enough to wonderful dining, the Yadkin Valley Wine Country and the Mountain to Sea Trail. 10 miles from Elkin or Wilkesboro. 6 vineyards within 5 miles of this central location. A perfect stay for the Wine Festival or Merle Fest or a weekend of wine tasting. Barn available for lodging if needed.
  • What a awesome little barn. So cute and clean. Will definitely be back

    Janet2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Jennifer's place. She was a very communicative host, and even let us bottle feed two baby lambs! The space was clean and comfortable, with everything you need and nothing you don't. Clean modern bathroom, comfortable and supportive bed, strong wifi. Bring slippers or socks in winter, the floor that's not covered in rugs can be cold. The highlight was relaxing surrounded by cute and peaceful farm animals - lambs on one side, Olivia the pig on the other, and four farm dogs running around. Perfect spot close by to more than a dozen wineries. We would definitely stay again!

    Emily2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing and unique Airbnb. So glad we decided to stay here rather than just a plan hotel room. We appreciated the decor of the entire farm house and really felt at home here. The place was also sparkling clean! Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

    Peter2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a “must stay” location! The pastoral setting and cozy, clean cabin makes for a perfect decompression environment. The lambs are in a field right beside the cabin and cattle are nearby. Good restaurants are a short drive away. You will not regret booking this Airbnb!

    Billie2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay! Close to a few great vineyards. Perfect for a girls trip to the area! Would definitely stay here again!

    Lauren2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint farmhouse lodging with well-appointed interior. We really enjoyed our stay, the inside was simple and well thought-out with a large comfortable bed and a smaller extra bed (we did not use). It was fun to be around the farm animals (pig, cows, sheep, cats and dogs) who were not obnoxious but were nearby to explore and enjoy. We woke up to watch the sunrise and enjoyed the rustic-chic accommodations. Was the perfect retreat from the local wineries.

    Chris2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was incredible. Right in the middle of the farm with all the animals so close. We normally try to pack our days with things to do when on vacation, but because this place was so great, we spent a lot of time relaxing and hanging out here. Extremely clean & comfortable and would definitely stay again.

    Alex2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer was wonderful at communication & made sure that I didn’t have any issues with checking into the Airbnb. The views at this location are spectacular. The room was spotless & had amazing amenities. Jennifer even let me & my significant other pet the lamb on the farm. As soon as you arrive to the Airbnb, you’ll receive a warm welcome from a friendly pig lol. The experience was truly amazing & I am grateful for Jennifer’s wonderful hospitality. I strongly recommend booking here. I will definitely book here again in the future without a doubt.

This location is a great home base for exploring the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains including the Boone/Blowing Rock area (25-35 mins), N. Wilkesboro (15 mins) and also Yadkin Valley wineries. Access to the Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 15 minutes away. Singing Waters is a small, working farm nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge, and is named after the beautiful creek that runs through the property, which can be heard from the cottage deck. Free range, happy, healthy chickens supply all of the eggs used in the Singing Waters Bakery. • We stayed at Renee’s cottage for a weekend to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. It was a great location to check out West Jefferson and Boone, very close to the parkway and easy to find. We had breakfast provided by Renee both mornings and i highly recommend it! Her scones were delicious and it was so convenient to have it brought right to the door. She was accommodating and quick to answer questions and provide help. The cottage was as described, very clean and homey. Thanks for a great stay!

Welcome to our Moonshine Mini-Mansion. The home is on 8 acres in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina and has just the right amount of every season. Only 30 miles to Boone and 6 miles to Merlefest! The entire home has been recently refurbished with all new finishes, new paint, soft close cabinets, and new flooring. This is a cozy house, and it is on land aka 'in the sticks.' Due to it being out in the country, you may see a bug or two!
The house is 1 BR, 1 BA, but does have 2 queen memory foam sleeper sofas in the den. The bedroom has a queen bed and the bath has a tub/shower combination. You will have to move side tables and coffee tables to 'open' the sleeper sofas in the den. We have a drip coffee maker, a cappuccino machine, French press and coffee bean grinder available for your use. We provide basic coffee, beans and small creamers. Shampoo/conditioner/body wash is also available for your use. Wilkes County locals call the town the "Moonshine Capital of the World." I'm not sure if that’s true but most everybody you talk to up there can probably tell you a moonshine story. My grandpa even had a moonshine still at one point and his dad was the sheriff! Wilkes County is proud to now have a Moonshine distillery - Call Family Distillery. They have moonshine pictures, stories, cars and LOTS of moonshine – the legal kind that you can buy if you are old enough. This home is just about 5-10 minutes off of Highway 421 and is a great home base for things to do in the area. What to do: There are several festivals in Wilkes County. October welcomes autumn with the Brushy Mountain Apple Festival. This is their 42nd year and my Mom remembers the first one. It was much different than today’s festival which hosts over 125,000 in attendance. We recently had the Peach Festival and FaithFest. MerleFest is a “traditional plus” 4-day music festival that is heralded as one of the best in the country. FULL DISCLOSURE, PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: This home was hand-built in the 1940s which means everything may not be completely plumb (straight, even, level, etc.) A few notes –some of the ceilings are a little less than normal height so if you are a little more than normal height, we might not be a good fit. We are out in the country so sometimes there may be country smells and such like skunks, bugs and chickens. You may also see wildlife in the yard. Please do not approach wildlife or leave food out for them. The Moonshine Mini-Mansion sits on just under 8 acres of land. There is PLENTY of parking and a 2 car carport. There is a huge double tier deck so you can enjoy the beauty of the nature around you.
Enjoy the quiet of country living. There are plenty of places nearby to eat and shop and LOTS of festivals in the area. Cagneys is great for breakfast. Roselli's is the closest place to eat and it is FANTASTIC!!!! The custard-filled cream puffs are SO GOOD!!!! Their salad is famous as are all their Italian dishes. Their hours are sporadic but well worth the wait. MOONSHINE - legal moonshine is made at the Call Distillery nearby. If you are of age, you gotta try it! They have flavors as well as regular and lots of pictures and memorabilia. Very cool!!
  • A perfect mountain getaway and only minutes from anything you would be interested in seeing or doing.

Being German, i have very high cleanliness standards, but it is a tree house with a living tree in it...so some bark, the occasional bug etc. should be expected. The compost toilet will be cleaned completely after each guest stay and so has no 'ick' factor!! we also like to note that we would love to host members of the LGBT community and Black lives do matter!
The neighborhood is woods, woods, woods and then the blue ridge parkway all the way to Asheville (5 hrs drive time)...The next little town is Wilkesboro home of the "Merlefest" in April and "Applefest" in August. Up the mountain is West Jefferson with Mt Jefferson and Boone the hometown of Appalachian State University and Blowing Rock, home of the tweetsie railroad. All tree towns are nice small towns for strolling, shopping for very good local arts and crafts and just hanging out...
  • Amazing place and great location surrounded by many attractions. Henry and Judith we’re very welcoming. The house was unique and inviting.

  • This space has everything you need for a cozy retreat. It is beyond clean. The bed is more comfortable than our own! The kitchen was fully equipped. There were a variety of games to play, books to read, and movies to watch. The area is beautiful. The hosts are lovely, gracious, and engaging. We highly recommend!

  • We absolutely love the “tree house”! It was my second stay. We enjoyed our greeting from Ladybug, Henry, and Judith, the space is so much fun, and yoga class is fantastic. The grounds are beautiful and we will hopefully have more time to hike and explore next visit! Wonderful hosts and stay.

  • This place is an absolute dreamland. There are so many sweet surprises on the trails, and the house is GORGEOUS, cozy, and inviting. If you are looking for a secluded destination for relaxation and quality time, THIS IS THE PLACE!!!!!! Henry, Judith, and their dogs are so warm and welcoming, and so very thoughtful. We loved every single moment of our stay and absolutely cannot wait to return.

  • Henry and Judith's treehouse was just what my husband and I needed for a quiet weekend to relax. The whole property is full of character and mindfulness. It's a special place tucked away in the hills with pleasant hosts and a super sweet pup.

    Rachel2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing! The lake had so many floats available and the zip line was so fun! Even though it rained half the time we had plenty of movies to watch and games to play thanks to the owners

Our place is close to nightlife and parks. You’ll love our place because of the coziness, the views, and the location. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
This is a 2 bedroom small cottage where my partner and I live with our dog (Maggie). The guest bedroom is located downstairs within the cottage. The bedroom has a full size bed and furnished. This cottage was built in 1935 with beautiful old country charm!
  • Brandon’s place was great! Small but super cozy, clean and perfect for one or two people and our host was very friendly! Maggie and the other puppy were both so cute, we loved them!

    Sophia2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Brandon and his partner are friendly and helpful, but give you plenty of space and privacy if you want it. Their place is charming and comfortable, and so conveniently located for us! We’d definitely stay again next time we’re in town!

Relax. You are now on Mountain Time. Wake up slow, drink some coffee, and get in the hot tub! Watch the leaves turn, listen to the breeze, feel the NOT humid, 90 degree temperature from where you came :) or for the more adventurous bunch...! Our Favorites in Boone: - App State FOOTBALL!!! Head up to "The Rock" this fall to watch App State play. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 1/4 mile away. One of our favorite hikes is the E.B Jeffress Cascades trail. It is a short easy/moderate hike down to a small set of waterfalls with a great overlook. Rough Ridge is another great, moderate hike. Cleared and marked trail leading to a beautiful 270 degree overlook. Hebron Rock Colony is the best! Drive south on the parkway to Price Park. Cook out at one of the park provided grills, then hike a short moderate hike to the coolest bunch of rocks in the High Country. Sunbathe on the rocks until you burn. It's the best. The South Fork New River has a lot to offer... kayaking, tubing, canoeing, fly fishing, swimming etc. If your two vehicles allow, in spring or early summer, take one or both of our kayaks to the Todd island Park off of Railroad Grade Road on the South Fork of the New River. It's a great float down to the Cranberry Springs overpass. (Leave vehicle at the end, parking available). *FOOD* Boone: Hatchett Coffee- There is no better coffee. (Get the Blue Ridge Blend) Black Cat Burrito - Everything is good here. (This is a dive bar) Macado's - local/college favorite (You +3 get the Hindenburg sandwich) Capone's Pizza - Chicago style pizza, very good (Big Joe's Buffalo Chicken with pineapple) West Jefferson: Black Jack Pub and Grill - "Best burger in Town" its da best. I think about this burger all the time Havana Cafe- Hole in the wall, but it is worth finding! (Cuban and fried plantains) Fleetwood: Park Vista - I haven't been to the inn but the food is amazing. Jump off the parkway at milepost 268 for a great lunch or dinner Deep Gap: Jim's Produce - its a very nice produce stand. We loved going here, you should go here. get seasonal produce Memorial day until Thanksgiving. Thompson's Seafood and Country Cooking- My husband and his friends alway talk about this place. He always says "It's where the locals go." Go here if that's what you're in to.
  • The place was the perfect size for the two of us and our dog - who loved the yard and stream that ran behind the house. The gates around the deck allowed our dog to play with his toys in a confined area outside while we got to enjoy the hot tub on the cold evenings. The house was so cozy and very clean which made us enjoy the time we spent relaxing at home just as enjoyable as the time we spent exploring the towns nearby! We’re already talking about wanting to go back, and hopefully getting to stay for a longer visit next time!

    Jessica2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Parkway cottage was a lovely home away from home. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a snowboarding trip. It was very clean and the hot tub was a fantastic touch(especially during the cold mountain nights)! There was also a fire pit which was nice. Very cute and eclectic decoration, great for the hiking/rock climbing-type. It is very close to the highway which makes access to local towns a breeze! 10/10 would stay again!

    Madeline2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • It was an amazing stay. Recommend anyone to stay there for a nice relaxing weekend.

    Sydney2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This tiny house is great and I hope that we can stay again! We were disappointed that the hot tub had some issues (one of the reasons we rented this place) and it wasn’t ready when we arrived, but it was ready by the 2nd night. The highway noise wasn’t an issue for us, and it was super convenient to go into Jefferson and Boone! The bed is super comfy! The place is decorated nicely and has some really thoughtful touches!

    Flora2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was a quaint, cute, clean place about 10-15 minutes outside of Boone. We had treats that greeted us when we arrived, a hot tub, comfy bed, stylish space, and access to roku tv, including Netflix! Definitely recommend, the host was so hospitable and we will stay here again! Would recommend for 2 adults, any more would be a little tight.

    Beth2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Just like other reviews, the place is really close to the hwy but far enough from the noise of the cars. Is sparkling clean and has everything you need and some extra nice amenities.

    Alejandro2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our time at Parkway Cottage was wonderful. Such a beautiful space and so well thought out. We enjoyed early morning soaks in the hot tub and the incredible ease to jumping onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cottage had everything we needed.

Your Dome sits on 8.5 private acres with 1200+ feet of state stocked trout stream. Instagram worthy Glamping experience. Eco-Nature escape on a dime! No WiFi. No plumbing. No electricity. No problem! USB Power Banks Provided to Recharge Lights & Fan. Unplug from Life and Recharge! This is a new take on primitive camping - enjoy the experience!
Glamping Unplugged is primitive camping at an unprecedented level. And we did not spend a mint on this steel dome to disappoint! We have created a space for your much-needed digital detox on a beautiful tract of land that allows for privacy, unlike any other campground. Immerse yourself in nature and unplug ... step a few inches outside of your comfort zone and you will thank us later. Arrive to a king bed with cozy clean sheets steps from a noisy state-stocked trout stream. A high-end cooler is your fridge. A Weber charcoal grill is your kitchen. USB powered lighting and power chargers are provided in addition to linens, pillows, towels and toilet paper. There are screens for the windows and a solar powered fan. We provide moist biodegradable camping towelettes for cleaning and deodorizing your body (or takke a dip in the stream) and, of course, there is a port-o-toilet. “Everything. Works better when you unplug it for a little while ... including yourself.” For a limited time, if you share social media quality photos with us of you enjoying your family's "Unplugged" time away from the stresses of every day life and away from all things internet and iPads, we can discount further! Why are weekdays so cheap? We want everyone to have a chance to experience an Instagram & social media-worthy vacation, if only for a night or two! We want to blow kid's minds! We are "proving a concept" today, curating a true experience for our future Glampers as we expand onto a 100 acre tract - become a founding camper! We are pet friendly with a $50 pet fee (pre-approval required).
We chose the land because it is on a popular, state-stocked trout stream. Outfitters have been sneaking onto your land and using it as their go-to fishing hole with clients for years! We look forward to your exploring the land and making camping and mountain memories. This land is meant to be shared: 1200+ feet of creek frontage, the HUGE 4-story wall of rocks across the creek from the Dome, the cave, the swimming and fishing holes and the waterfalls. We have created a spot you can stay at for days, perfect for the "unplugged" experience. Keep an open mind and simply go with the unplugged, eco-friendly experience!
  • All around awesome experience. Beautiful area and was very peaceful. The dome was clean and had a comfy bed with the best view to wake up to. I will definitely be back!!

  • Our stay was perfect :)! Everything was available that we needed. We would love to return here for several days next time we are in the area. Very relaxing and the bed was comfortable.

    Kate2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful location and truly unique experience. Easy check in instructions and close to things but still felt remote and private. Great way to camp with a much nicer place to sleep than a tent.

  • Perfect place to unplug and experience nature. I loved listening to creek and being surrounded by incredible property.

  • Fantastic. Beautiful property, the subtle touches are on point. An exceptional evening. I would highly recommend it!

    Sam2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is PERFECTION if you are looking to step up your camping experience. We did not want to leave. The view and sounds from the dome are amazing. We were lucky enough to be there in the fall so the leaves changing was an added bonus. It was a very romantic experience waking up to that view in the morning. We loved the fire pit and had a wonderful time cooking our meals in the fire.

    David And Elizabeth2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a fun little get away spot! Just went for a night and was able to enjoy the property during the day. The dome was adorable and felt secure and safe. The bed is super comfortable too. Reminder to guests to bring drinking water. Charcoal is provided for the grill which was easy to use. It was pretty damp outside so struggled getting the fire pit started but it was fine. Would suggest bringing some dry logs if you want to have a good fire all evening. The property felt very private and the access to the river was lovely. Plenty of spots to get in the water. Would defiantly stay again.

  • Patrick’s house is super clean and cozy. Reminded me of visiting my grandparents house as a child. Patrick and Toni went above and beyond with their gracious hospitality.

    Stephen2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Patrick and Toni have a very lovely home. Both were there to greet us on arrival and go through the house with us. Very friendly and welcoming couple and quick to respond to you on any questions. There were a basket of treats in the kitchen, coffee for the coffee maker and pods for the Keurig as well as tea. There was also some individual juices and water in the refrigerator. We used all three bedrooms and no one had complaints about the beds and all had a good nights sleep. The house and property was all very clean and neat. Loved that each bedroom had it's own ceiling fan and wall air conditioner. When we visited there was no need for air conditioners but we did use the heater four morning for an hour or so to warm up after a cold morning. There were brochures on things to do in the area and restaurant menus to look at as well. The only negative was the refrigerator compressor ran about 40 minutes of every hour and froze food in the refrigerator. Speaking with the hosts it sounds like they will be replacing it very soon. One thing that I personally loved was there was no less than 5 sets of dishes one of which is a Christmas pattern and another a china set. Everything in an exact setting of four including your silverware. There is no one but those listed on your reservation allowed on the property so if you wanted to have a visitor for coffee you are not permitted to do so and that was very disappointing. If you are there for just a visit to the area then this is a must stay location and you will not be disappointed in the rental. Thank you Patrick and Toni for sharing your Millers Creek home with us.

    Diana2019-10-25T00:00:00Z

The cozy cottage is located in the country side just off 421 on Boone trail, along the Lewis Fork Creek, in Wilkes county. Located in the foothills of the Blue ridge mountains. The cozy cottage has been in our family for three generations. We live just out of sight on up the drive. You can enjoy your privacy but if you need anything we are near by. We look forward to meeting you upon your arrival !
We like to also have a special treat upon your arrival for you to enjoy, which changes from time to time
Peaceful country setting, Beautiful in all seasons. Nearby the gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway. Boone & Blowing Rock, great for shopping. On up the road is Grandfather Mountain with it's mile high swinging bridge which is very scenic. We have the Apple Festival the first weekend in October. Always fun with lots of crafts to see. Music to listen too and unique things to buy. Lots of food. In April we have the world famous MerleFest ! Nearby lake if you like to fish or do water sports. Also at certain times of the year we have outdoor dramas.
  • Our second time here! We needed a place to stay for a month while we were waiting to get into our apartment and liked it here so much the first time, we came back! We had everything we needed and it was a wonderful, cozy stay! We would certainly come back if we ever needed!

    Samantha2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • WOW! This is the best AirBnB experience I have ever had! Never have I ever had a host who was so thoughtful. I appreciated the small touches! We had snacks and drinks upon our arrival and she checked in to make sure everything was okay! The space was so clean and cozy. I will most certainly be back. What a wonderful find!

  • Connie made me feel at home and very welcomed. Staying in Connie's Cottage was real a delight. The atmosphere is perfect -- it is cozy and inviting with tasteful decor. If you need a place to get away from it all, this is a place to relax. The cottage is tucked away from city life in the foothills. During late evenings, you can faintly see the milky way and many stars, hear the night wildlife, smell the forest trees, and hear the river as you sit on the porch. Very peaceful. I would come back. A note: There are two white cottages with green shutters in the area. My GPS took me directly to the 1st one. Ignore it. Drive a little further up the road and you will see a sign and decor around Connie's Cottage.

  • Cozy Cottage was a quiet, serene place to relax. Enjoyed the comfort and thoughtfulness that Connie put into the furnishings and decor. Would definately stay in this home away from home again.

Very private and quiet cottage in the trees yet only about a mile from the heart of town. Updated with new stainless steel appliances. Queen bed. Big screen tv with streaming services. Easy hop to Blue Ridge Parkway, wineries and Boone. Less than 4 miles and 8 minutes to Wilkes Community College. Watch wildlife from the private rear deck or walk the 2.6 acres of grounds, part wooded and part landscaped gardens. The cottage is closer to the neighboring farm than it is to the main house.
Front covered porch and back deck allow interaction with the outdoors. Deer can be seen just outside the property fence and many different birds live on the property: hawks can be seen and owls heard. The cottage is cozy, perfect for two. There is a living area, bedroom, bathroom with shower and a table for two in the kitchen area. The laundry room is downstairs in the basement, accessible from outside steps or stairs.
A very quiet residential neighborhood borders the property on one side with a creek below us on a farm. The farmer has given permission to walk the farm road along the creek. In fact, the cottage is closer to the farm than to the main house. The cottage is not visible from the street and barely visible from the main residence. Despite the privacy, we are quite close to shopping and restaurants in downtown Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro.
  • Private quiet, and wonderful cottage.

Our cabin is located 5 miles from Stone Mountain State Park. There are lots of great hiking and fishing. We are also 20 minutes from historic downtown Elkin. There are several places to shop and delicious local cuisine. Several wineries are within a short drive.
During the summer months cool off with a milkshake from Stone Mountain Country Store. Be sure to check out events at The Reeves Theater. Dirty Joes is a great local coffee shop. If you are an outdoor enthusiast be sure to check out the Mountains to Sea Trail.
  • Place was great. Outside fire pit was a great addition and we had amazing weather for a fire. Blake was a great host and quickly answered our questions with his southern hospitality. Stone Mountain state park was with in 5 minutes of the cabin and a great place to spend a weekend exploring!

  • The cabin was very clean and had an “off the grid” feel. The beds were very comfortable and stocked with plenty of towels and extra blankets for a group of six. Will definitely stay here again when coming back to the area.

  • The Misty Mountain Retreat is the perfect spot to take a relaxing vacation and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It seamlessly skirts the line between rustic and modern, making it feel very cozy and effortlessly functional. The location is unbelievably lovely and serene while being within easy driving distance of everything you need, making it feel secluded but not so much that you feel like you need to live like Bear Grylls... unless you are into that sort of thing. The cabin was immaculately clean and is well stocked with a variety of dishes and cookware so you can easily make your own meals in the beautiful kitchen. They even had some staples like oatmeal, rice, seasonings, etc which helps to cut down on the amount of redundant stuff you need to purchase while in the area. We really just cannot say enough great things about our visit, and look forward to staying at Shawn’s Misty Mountain Retreat again in the future.

  • Very isolated for privacy, but close enough to neighbors to not be afraid of the wilderness! 20 minutes from Boone and snow, or 20 minutes in the other direction for warmer temps and no precipitation. Great location!

  • Shawn’s place is extremely clean and comfortable. The hot tub was wonderful. Everything was perfectly described.

  • I sat out in a parking for almost 2 hours trying to find a nice place and somewhere that accepted pets. Everyone was charging ridiculous prices to bring a dog and cleaning prices were like $200.00 for a day!!!! THEN I CAME ACROSS SHAWN'S CRIB!!!! Well let me tell you what, not only was his place beautiful but there was NO PET FEE and I drove like a hour. It was so worth it. I had no trouble finding it up in the mountains. Shawn was super cool and he mapped out everything at his house for me. I didn't have to search or stress how to operate things. He mapped out everything!!!! Not to mention, his crib was beautiful and half the price as others listed.

Our place is at 2,500' elevation, ceiling fans to keep you cool. For winter, central heat or a fireplace keeps you snug and warm. It is so quiet you can hear wild turkeys crossing the driveway. It is close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, New River, the Wilkesboros, West Jefferson, Boone (30 min.), Virginia Creeper Trail (1 hr.), W. Kerr Scott Lake (16 miles with great mountain biking). We think you will enjoy the coziness and mountain views. Our place is good for couples and solo adventurers.
The bedroom looks out into a leafy space. Quiet sitting on the deck reveals bird sounds and sometimes wild turkey, deer or foxes. Rarely, a shy black bear makes an appearance in the blackberry thatches that line the roadway. At twilight you sometimes see a bat or two chasing bugs. A dark night showcases lightening bugs and millions of stars. It is nature alive, but only a fifteen minute drive to Coffee House, Food Lion and Bojangles Chicken.
We are only two miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway with hiking on the Mountain to Sea trail. We are about 20 minutes to the New River for canoeing or tubing. Other water sports are available at W.Kerr Scott Lake, which has several parks, boat and kayak launching.
  • This was my second stay at the cabin and of all the AirBNBs I’ve stayed in, this one is always my favorite. Jerre and Madeline are so sweet and the cabin is always clean and quiet, homey and comfortable. Can’t wait to come back in the spring!

    Kelly2019-10-13T00:00:00Z

  • Jerre’s cabin was great to stay in for the weekend. It is cozy and the views from the deck are amazing. The weather was great while we were there, and even though it rained for a little bit we could still be outside due to the covered deck.

    Alaina2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay! Our hosts simply could not have been more hospitable or done a nicer job on this gorgeous cabin. We are most definitely making this a semi-regular vacation retreat!

    Laurie2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful time staying here. Madeline and Jerre were so kind and helpful, and their cabin is top notch! I arrived a little late and they were outside waiting for me when I pulled up. They told me all I needed to know about my stay there and were very helpful with my travel interests. The cabin is immaculate and includes many amenities; so don't worry if you forget some of your supplies. They probably have you covered. The view from the cabin is so nice and a joy to wake up to in the morning. The stars at night were incredible; I stayed up for hours stargazing. The location is great too. It's about 15 minutes away from the grocery store and gas station, and very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. You'll enjoy driving all around the area. Over all I'd highly recommend this cabin, but don't stay too long because I want to come back!

    Drew2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay and lovely cabin, exceeded our expectations with all the extras and would definitely visit again.

    Michael2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real gem of a place for a couple travelling to the Glendale Springs or the High County area of NC. Unlike most AirBnB ads, the pictures do NOT overstate the comfort of this cabin. We were greeted by our host, Madeline, who introduced us to the many amenities, including a well provisioned breakfast set up and a private outdoor shower (which we strongly recommend). She is the best AirBnB host we've every interacted with! While there is no air conditioning, there's plenty of fans and A/C is usually not needed at this altitude. My wife and I have stayed at several AirBnBs, and this was one of our best experiences. (Ok, so you've decided to book: Here's a suggestion if you have a smaller car -- like an Prius. You may want to stop, halfway down the driveway, and park in the shelter to the right. While I was able to manuever my Prius up the full driveway, it may be a challenge for others in damp conditions or if your tire tread is lacking ... this should not be a deterrent for renting, the "optional" shelter is only a few feet up the driveway.)

During COVID19 social distancing. I am blocking three days before and after each stay. Of course if you are sick please reschedule. This will make our tiny cabin a safe getaway during this time. A couple things you should know. This is basically a spectacular glamping experience. I love the bees and pollinators so I plant wildflowers and do not mow much on the greater property. The ladder to the loft is steep so always face the ladder when going up or down. There is a futon downstairs if you do not want to use the ladder. Well behaved kids and dogs are an option if you contact me ahead of time. We have a small gas grill, a toaster oven, mini fridge, electric kettle, lights, heater, a campfire circle and a composting toilet. No running water but plenty of water is provided. The shower and facilities with running water are at the main house with your own private entrance. There is some debris on the property due to a tornado last year (see photos) The driveway is gravel and a bumpy mountain road so take it slow. Be sure that you get detailed directions from me because google may not find us. If there is snow you will need 4wheel drive, please check with me about conditions.
Our tiny cabin is right on The Blue ridge parkway with the Mountain to Sea trail just at the top of the drive. We are located about 30 minutes from Boone, West Jefferson, Blowing Rock and Todd NC. Just down the road you will find the New River, rafting, the frescoes at Obids, our neighbors offer Yoga, ballroom dancing, paragliding and you can sign up for a chance to visit The Dark Sky observatory.
  • Beautiful stay! Smells like cedar has everything you need. We had plans to leave early to go hiking but decided to stay late instead and relax with a beautiful view. Highly recommend.

    Dora2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I came here on a solo trip to get away for a few days and I can not believe how refreshed I felt after. The location is beautiful, and it's a short drive from some very pretty hikes such as Cascade falls. I loved the tiny cabin and it further pushed my HGTV dreams of owning one myself. Cooking was easy on the gas grill, even in winter, and when I was feeling adventurous I cooked over the campfire a bit. The dog there (i didn't catch their name) was so polite and playful, we played fetch around the cabin and he watched me cook my meals. I'm allergic to cats so I couldn't play with Finn as much, but I still enjoyed his company while building a campfire and got to pet him a bit with gloves on. My only recommendation for visitors is confirm that you can make it down the driveway in bad weather conditions. Luckily I was able to drive through mud even in my hatchback because it is manual, however I would be cautious nonetheless.

  • Such a great escape and beautiful area! I loved bringing my youngest daughter (age 20) here so we could ski in nearby Blowing Rock. We loved how cozy it was and how quiet the area is at night. Everything was pristine and well thought out. Bedding was so soft, gorgeous view, and the little kitchen was just perfect. One of our favorite parts were being outside at night because you can look up and see all the stars so clearly. What a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city! I plan to come back next year, as soon as I can get my calendar together. Don’t miss this wonderful experience!!

Barefoot Cabin (BC) is a quiet, little, cabin tucked away in the Majestic Mountain gated community, near the Blue Ridge mountains, made to unplug, reflect & unwhine. Min's, from Wilkesboro, Boone, & attractions. Unique features include custom spiral staircase, Kitchen Pergula/ceramic woodstove w/ a flare of rustically, comfortable features. Special thank you to all who visited BC this past year. Experiences left in the little brown book truly reflect how special this place is. Thanks Eddie
Features a Pullout couch, Queen size bed, washer, (no dryer) shower, wood stove and stove, deck, fridge, microwave, T.V. tracks two local channels, and a DVD player. No internet service is available. Remember, it is modern rustic to get away form IoT. But if you need access to WIFI, you can use a Verizon Jetpack and you will be good to go.
The valley/mountains view are very cool. Don't be surprised if you happen to see wild turkey and other wildlife out there. Legend has it Daniel Boone hunted throughout the area. There are also waterfalls throughout the subdivision. Lot's of hiking to do.
  • enjoyed it!

    Rebecca2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time at this charming cabin! Highly recommended! We were on a little family vacation to see the mountains and this cabin was in a great spot. Neighborhood was excellent! It is gated and the other houses have lots of space/woods between them, so everyone had privacy. Nice views from the cabin and really spectacular views from walking around the neighborhood. We traveled to Boone, Blowing Rock, and Linville caverns easily (under an hour). The cabin itself is so cute and fun! Great deck out back, lots of nice comfortable space inside. I will clarify the sleeping arrangement (because I was confused after reading the ad) there is a queen/full size bed in its own little bedroom on the first floor, along with a full bathroom. Upstairs in the loft there is a bunk bed, and downstairs there is also a pull out sofa. For our situation (traveling with a 7 year old), we were able to squeeze in a twin air mattress at the foot of the bed downstairs. Could have easily fit a large air mattress upstairs in the loft, but our kid wouldn't stay up there alone. Additionally, there are 2 chairs in the bonus reading nook area off the kitchen that are great for a nap! There is a dining table that sits 4-5 comfortably.

    Tammy2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful trip. Eddie worked so hard on the cabin and to see what he did is just amazing. Would love to just sit a talk for a day on his journey remodeling the place, but he was able to do that through photos he placed around. Only needed to bring food and toiletries. He almost had everything else there for you. Will definitely be coming back!

    Alexandra2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Place is even more awesome in person! Eddie clearly has a passion for this place and it shows. View off the back deck is an incredible Mountain View. Cabin is in a very private gated community on top of a mountain. About 45 minutes to downtown Boone, where there are a ton of things to see and do.

This rustic cabin, surrounded by woods and bordered by a creek, is a off-grid experience. Reconnect with nature. Sit around the campfire. Rest in a hammock. Listen to the brook sing. Experience 'camping-lite' in The Treehouse. There is no electricity or running water. Connectivity is spotty. The interior is simple, with a loft bedroom. On the main floor, there is a simple kitchen area with cabinets and supplies. There is also a futon. A deck extends from the cabin. A Coleman Stove is provided.
Get outside in the fresh air. We are doing our best to keep everything clean and sanitary. I have put a 24 hour buffer between guests in order to clean and air out the building. If you have any questions about what I am doing, and if you feel confident, please ask. IF YOU WISH TO BOOK MORE THAN TWO PEOPLE, PLEASE MESSAGE ME. There is an additional of charge of $10 per person, per night. With tents, this location can accommodate 10 or more people. Located in the Brushy Mountains of Western North Carolina, this peaceful refuge, is nestled between a rock shelf and a creek. The little hollow is a great place for play or just getting away from it all. Once our guests arrive, they seldom want to leave. Walk down the steep hillside to the 12x12 insulated cabin, which is extended with a 10x12 ft. deck. The Tree House hangs off of a rock ledge and is supported by trees. Whether rain or shine, this location is peaceful, private, and serene. Dogwood trees hang gracefully over the deck. Larger trees dapple the large, private site with partial shade. Wade into the shallow stream, sit on the deck, rest near the fire pit, or sit on the tree swings, and hammocks, and listen to the little stream that borders the camp. The interior of the cabin is small, simple, but comfortable and includes a loft with a queen sized bed. On the main floor is a futon which converts into a double or two single beds. The kitchen includes cabinets for storage and a place for food preparation. To make your stay easier, we have added a few essentials, food items, as well as cooking equipment. On the deck there is Coleman cooking stove available for your use. There is an oil lamp, tea candles, and solar lights for your convenience. The paths have solar lights so you can find your way in the dark. It is very, very dark at night under the tree canopy. Please bring a flashlight so you can get around safely. There is a small, exterior, but attached outhouse with a sawdust composting toilet. This room has a battery powered motion light so you won't be stuck in the dark. There is a different place with a solar heated shower bag is available. You can also wash up in the creek. For those in your company who prefer a more primitive camping experience, there is plenty of room to pitch tents. If you have a larger group of people, you can also book our second site, The Suspended Sanctuary Tree Tent. The two sites are close enough for easy visiting but far enough a part for privacy. Play in the stream, follow the brook down to the neighbor's horse pasture, and into the woods, or wander upstream to the man-made waterfall. Walk up the gravel road to our farm and meet our goats, chickens, donkeys, and horses. This is a working hobby farm. Homemade treats and farm fresh chicken eggs are given to our guests, as available. We offer homemade gluten-free bake goods, bread, and muffins, from my gluten free kitchen. TRASH REMOVAL: For your convenience, there is a bin for recyclables, and a compost pile next to the garden. I will dispose of the human waste. If you bring a tarp, you can stretch it over the deck to keep out rain and sun, as well as extending your living space if you do get a rainy day. WINTER CAMPING: The wood stove that you see in the photos is merely decoration. There is no stovepipe. While many are capable of using a wood stove, all it takes is one mistake. So, we have provided a Mr. Heater Buddy that runs on 1# propane canisters. Please bring your own fuel. The directions on the Mr. Heater says that it burns 6 hours on low and 3 hours on high. The cabin is insulated and stays warm. Where we live, it is cold at night and often pleasant during the day. THIS IS AN OFF-GRID outdoor experience. There are spiders, bugs, crayfish, snakes, wild animals, dirt, etc. Please bring bug-spray.
Activities to the west include the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is about 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, as well as other equipment, explore biking and hiking trails. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries and vineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. Wilkes County has many festivals, including Merlefest, the largest bluegrass festival in the nation, is about 15 minutes from the cabin. During the week, there are several open air markets which highlight local food, local artisans, and local music. If you enjoy disk golf, we have a highly rated course nearby. There are also several antique and second hand stores in our community. Prayer Mountain is only two miles away. To the south, in HIddenite, there is hiking at Rocky Face Park and Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can search for gens in a river. Come and explore Wilkes County, and surrounding area, and see what we have to offer.
  • She was so nice to welcome us and responded everything quickly. It was a cute little cozy cabin in the mountain and little back yard and creek.

  • Amazing hosts and amazing place to stay!! My expectations were beyond exceeded. This place is so cute, cozy, rustic, peaceful, and just a little tiny paradise in the beautiful woods and mountains of NC. I am so grateful to have had such attentive hosts, and still just so full of joy and peace from my weekend away here. It was the best! This is a MUST book if you want a private get away or fun place to stay in Moravian. This place truly has something special about it that I will never forget!

  • This treehouse is such a treasure! The outside space is just plain magical. I took my dog and spent a weekend here to escape and breathe. I sure was able to do both. My dog was thrilled with the babbling brook. I am hoping to bring my entire family back! Just FYI when this says it’s off the grid, it’s literally off the grid. Creepy crawlers and nature galore. If you’re not up for that, this isn’t the place for you. Luckily we love being off grid! Elizabeth was a fantastic, one of a kind, host! So many thoughtful touches. Everything was truly appreciated.

"A View for Two" is a rustic, custom-built tiny house on wheels that's perfect for a couple's getaway or solo adventure. Huge windows allow you to take in the expansive views of Grandfather Mountain and countless other peaks. The spacious deck and firepit allow you to further enjoy the vistas while relaxing in nature. Comforts like a heat pump, WiFi, smart TV, Instant Pot oven/air fryer, and induction burners allow you to get the most out of indoor living too!
"A View for Two" is part of a small tiny house community that includes four tiny houses. Each house can be rented separately, but we also host weddings and events.
The best thing about our neighborhood is that it's not one. Four tiny houses share acres and acres of land that's out of the way yet just 20 minutes to Boone and even closer to West Jefferson. The Blue Ridge Parkway and the New River are just around the corner.
  • I had a great time at this small, cute, and cozy place. The view was amazing!

  • If you are looking for the perfect place to stay with a budget in mind this is the place for you. The house was super cozy and had everything you needed to stay there. It was a super clean place and perfect for two people. We loved the location of the house and the views from the deck were amazing. David was super quick with his responses and helpful when we asked him questions. The location of the house is awesome as well. Close enough to Boone to get the things you need and have somewhere for nightlife. All in all a great trip and will most definitely be staying there again!

    Tyler2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a beautiful space with just the right amount of space/amenities and AMAZING location and view! So close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wish I could’ve stayed longer.

In historic downtown Elkin, this studio apartment is part of a hundred year old home on an acre of land. Walk to shops, restaurants, and the trails along the river (Elkin is a designated Trail Town). Walk to wine tasting or a local brewery! The local Reeves Theatre, with live regional music, only a short 2 blocks away. Only a few minutes drive to the beautiful Yadkin Valley wineries. All welcome. https://www.whatsupinelkinnc.com/ Every guest is special at Magnolia!
Downtown Elkin is fun to explore. There are very few places to stay in the historic downtown, even though it is so centrally located. It's a great spot to be. The studio apartment is perfect for exploration whether you like to shop, try out different foods, hike the trails, bike, canoe, or kayak, listen to live music, or just relax. Most all within walking distance from your Magnolia Retreat. The apartment has a new queen bed and crisp new bedding and pillows. Plenty of storage and room to move. The tv has a fire stick so lots to watch if there's time for tv. Mini fridge, microwave, and coffee machine included for your use. View of the back yard from all parts of the studio with opportunity to catch a look at the resident deer, birds, squirrels, and shy ground hogs. Always something to see! My goal was to produce a relaxing retreat to share with my guests, to offer a place for introspection and peaceful contemplation ( if desired). Or, good tv and great sleep, as well as a new private bathroom for convenience. Now that the warm weather is here, the air conditioning is up and running!
The neighborhood is quiet and serene. Depending on which way the wind is blowing, sometimes you can faintly hear the live music from downtown.
  • We only stayed one night but wish we had stayed longer. Denise was incredible, she couldn’t have been more helpful! Her house is in a great location, very clean, comfortable bed, fresh flowers on the table when we arrived, everything we needed was provided. We will book with Denise again! Billie

    Billie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Denise's place is quite charming and convenient to downtown. Lots of personal touches to make our stay comfortable. The bed slept well and checking in was simple. There were no issues during our stay. Highly recommend!

    Niki2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We throughly enjoyed our stay at Magnolia Retreat. The home was immaculate with darling touches like fresh flowers and morning coffee. The location could not be any better...just a short walk to the Reeves Theater and restaurants. Denise was lovely and incredibly helpful and accommodating.

    Amy2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location. Just down the hill from all Elkin has to offer. We never needed to get in our car.

    Amy2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Denise is an amazing host. Very friendly and accommodating. She was very helpful with local knowledge and anything you might need. Her space is private and quiet. I have been through a lot in recent times and this was a much needed relaxing retreat.

    Angela2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great little studio apartment within walking distance to downtown. Very clean and accommodating. Its a small town, but everything is within walking distance. Angry Troll brewing, Reeves Theatre, and Southern on Main are a 5-10 min walk. For breakfast check out Nana’s. It isnt fancy, but its cheap and good.

    Vic2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful host and a great little Airbnb treasure!

    Kellie2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • My Daughter and myself reserved a night here because it was walking distance to go to a show at Reeves Theater. When we arrived it was raining. Upon checking us in Denise offered a ride to the show and iher number to call for a ride home if needed. She even accepted an invitation to join us for dinner & was an absolute joy with interesting conversation & genuine kindness. After the show we wandered Main Street’s establishments & since the rain had subsided enjoyed a nice walk back to the room. Nice clean room, comfy bed, coffee in the morning. We look forward to another night in Elkin thanks to Denise’s excellent location & welcoming hospitality!

Winter Glamping-Camping is on! Our new take on primitive camping is HOT! GLAMP PRIVATELY ON 8 ACRES THIS WINTER NEAR BOONE Unplug to recharge with @GlampingUnplugged - find us on social media! Tent Stove, 2 cargo net hammocks, king bed, bunk beds, fire pit, lighting & chargers, 8+ acres, trout stream! No WiFi. No plumbing. No electricity. No problem! USB Power Banks Provided to Recharge Lights. Unplug from Life and Recharge! May not be suitable for kids and small dogs, let's chat! Pets $35.
Can we camp in the winter? Yes, a tent stove is provided plus we have insulated the floor and the tent walls! Light a fire and expect a cozy stay! Arrive to a king bed with cozy clean sheets over a noisy state-stocked trout stream. A high-end cooler is your fridge. A Weber charcoal grill is your kitchen. USB powered lighting and power chargers are provided in addition to linens, pillows, towels and toilet paper. There are screens for the windows. We provide moist biodegradable towelettes for deodorizing and cleaning your body (or take a dip in the stream!) and, of course, there is a port-o-toilet. “Everything works better when you unplug it for a little while ... including yourself.” Help us craft the best experience for future guests, share photos with us for social media and we promise to make it worth your while, 'grandfather you in," become part of the Unplugged family! We are pet friendly with a $35 pet fee (pre-approval required).
  • The place was beautiful. The relaxing get away from everything that i needed. I really can’t wait to go back. The host is more than accommodating and really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of

  • I booked this as a seriously last minute trip for my boyfriend and I and our dog and could not have been more impressed. This has been on my bucket list for awhile, so when the yurt had a last minute cancellation, I jumped on the opportunity. It was the perfect getaway from our city life. My boyfriend had never been camping before, and I think this was the perfect introduction. The yurt stayed VERY warm as long as the fire was going (it got to 20 degrees outside at night, but we were more than comfortable inside). My dog loved everything. We made all of our meals on the outdoor fire, and heated up coffee on the fire stove inside. I seriously cannot stop telling people about this perfect trip and I cant wait to return in the summer and take advantage of the beautiful stream.

    Meredith2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Treehouse Dome was an unexpected jewel with it's clean and unique accommodations. We enjoyed camping with a "pampered feel". It was the perfect romantic hide away that we were hoping for. Can't wait to plan a summer time trip!

    Tanya2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed in several AirBnbs over the years traveling for work and I truly believe that @glampingunplugged was by far the best host out of them all. Words can't describe how amazing out winter getaway at Treehouse Dome was! The location was beautiful and the dome itself was amazing. We stayed during the first below freezing snowfall of the winter - the wood stove kept us warm and cozy all night and was easy to wake up to and make coffee. All three of our dogs enjoyed splashing around in the stream and hiking several local trails. We will definitely be return guests in the summer once the weather is warmer!

    Nicole2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed every moment we had at the treehouse dome!! There wasn’t anything we did not enjoy, from the amazing location overlooking the river, to morning coffee on the hammocks, we left the dome feeling incredibly grateful for our stay! If you are wary of winter Glamping know that the wood fire stove kept us warm and cozy throughout the nights (which got down to the low 20s). As for our pups, they enjoyed every amenity the dome had to offer, especially the river!

    Anna2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far the most unique and beautiful place we have stayed. If you are adventurous and love the outdoors look no further. The creek flowing below the yurt was beautiful and the sound of the flowing water provided a very peaceful sleep. Having a stove indoors made this type of stay extremely cozy despite the 20 degree temperatures. 100% recommended!

    Devin2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was the absolute coolest airbnb we’ve stayed in, even being 28 degrees it was really nice being out in something unconventional and beside the noise of the river.

  • If your wanting a nice, quiet get away with a view that you can’t really find other places, this would be your place! Jason was fantastic with communication and even went out of his way to make sure we had a grill and propane to cook some steaks on so we didn’t have to haul our own! The house was called “tiny” but it was more than enough room for my wife and I, along with another couple. The house was about 20 mins from Boone which was convenient and the directions to find it were excellent. Highly recommend!

  • This was a last minute trip that I planned for my husband and two dogs. We were so fortunate to have been one of the only people staying in the resort, allowing our dogs to run the property and have a wonderful time. Beth left a light on for us so we knew which cabin was ours since it was late and hard to see. The scenery was beautiful and we can’t wait to go back.
