Places to stay in Nubeena

Places to stay in Nubeena
Sunhouse is an unexpected gem on the Tasman Peninsula, located just 15 minutes from Port Arthur. Nestled between the trees and the ocean but near town, a place to enjoy the simple pleasures of life and nature. Meandering days can be spent wandering the coves and beaches, playing cards, drinking cups of tea or simply soaking up the sun with a good book. Come evening, pick produce from the garden and sip a wine in front of the fire. A place to slow down and enjoy what Tasmania has to offer.
Restored with love and creativity, filled with vintage finds and surrounded by a rambling cottage garden, the space is one that has had many hours of care put into it. Please note that this is a small cottage and not a luxury hotel! We use this space to get back to nature (although there is a very small TV available if desired). A 70’s cottage that has been furnished with the collected and considered, from the handcrafted timber kitchen to the tiniest curated details. Enjoy a soak in the bath or sleep in and appreciate the linen bedding. Although equipped with modern comforts, it is rustic, raw and authentic. The way Tasmania was meant to be enjoyed. Sunhouse has a wood fire, a full kitchen and on site parking. Equally designed for enjoying in solitude or to be shared with love, we have two queen beds and a set of bunks so can accommodate six. Coffee, tea and basic provisions are provided however there are two IGA grocers nearby and one of the most amazing coffee spots a short drive away.
Sunhouse is located on the edge of the small fishing town, Nubeena, nestled in the coves of the Tasman Peninsula. While supplies are available in town, it is also a beautiful drive around the Peninsula to Port Arthur (15 minutes) and Eaglehawk Neck (20 minutes). Make no mistake, there is no need to travel to find beauty (or surf) - the Peninsula is a treasure trove of hidden beaches, silent forests and untouched beauty.
  • lovely little home, with a roaring fireplace and outdoor bath! Perfect for a little escape

  • So relaxing, outdoor bath was a perfect touch. It feels like you are a long way from everything, but close to food and coffee and lots of things to do.

  • We loved our night at the Sunhouse- would highly recommend for anyone looking to stay down at the Peninsula! Lovely touches, well-equipped kitchen and LOVED the outdoor bath. Will be back for sure!

  • Amazing place to stay to get a way from the world for a bit! We were 2 teenage girls who just finished the overland track and caught the only bus to nubeena from Hobart (there is one a day). We got around quite easily by hitchhiking with some lovely travellers (we did the cape Raoul walking track with a lovely couple who picked us up and they even dropped us back right outside the front door of sunhouse). Very beautifully curated interior and loved having a bath under the stars. There is even fruit and herbs to pick from garden! Can’t recommend enough!!

A charming, cosy cottage, Dreamview is your perfect place to relax by the sea. All day sun and the best location in White Beach. This stunning 2.6 k stretch of sand is right on your doorstep. Be lulled by the waves as you drift off to sleep at night. Relax with a book on the deck, or cook up a storm in the compact well appointed kitchen. A great location to explore the many delights of the Tasman Peninsula. Bedrooms have been recently fitted with quality linen and cosy throws.
Our little shack is ideally suited for a couple or small family wanting to relax and rejuvenate by the sea. The beach is directly across the road and extremely safe for swimmers of all ages. You can hear the waves from the deck .
  • A very comfortable venue overlooking a most picturesque site.

    Dennis2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in a pristine area of Tasmania. The cottage is well equipped and set off by the view over the beach. Hard to find such spots.

    Phil2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage, loved the location, the view, the Kookaburra we kept seeing everyday and the cozziness

    Amenda2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's beach house was great. Clean, tidy, quite and with stunning views over a beautiful beach. We'd like to come back. Highly recommended.

    Stephen2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is an amazing host, she kindly let us check in early & had quickly replied to my questions. The location is great & the views of beautiful White Beach are the best. The kitchen was the best set up I have seen in a while, every kitchen item you could think of was there. The deck is great to sit on & look at the beautiful beach. It's location is great, 15 mins to Port Arthur & 30 mins to Eaglehawk Neck

    Janine2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a fantastic family holiday for us. The location and view is sensational, and the host was a pleasure to deal with. Stocked with a bunch of kitchen staples and has everything you need to explore the attractions of the area or just sit and take in the view.

    Martin2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place from beautiful appointment, cupboards with the staples and good quality amenities, great communication and amazing location. Perfect from our perspective and would be back in a flash.

    Denita2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Susan's place is fantastic, with the view that is simply amazing, the resident kookaburra who came to visit at breakfast every morning, and plenty of other wildlife. Susan had provided everything you could think you needed (and more), including coffee, insect repellent (!), soap and plenty of the basics too. She even kindly set up a fire for us on our first cooler evening there. It is the perfect place to stay to unwind and relax. Literally ten steps to White Beach. I highly recommend this as a place to stay on the Tasman Peninsula. Just note that the driveway to the front door is quite steep and the shower is a step in bathtub for those with mobility issues. Thanks Susan for hosting an amazing stay. Hope to be back again someday!

A short drive to the Port Arthur Historic Site and the start of the spectacular Three Capes Walk and many other attractions the Peninsula has to offer. Filtered views of Parsons Bay add to the charm of this cottage. Relax and enjoy the beauty of the Tasman Peninsula. • Nice, well-equipped cottage in a quiet neighbourhood, with an amazing fireplace that kept us warm all evening and night! It was very easy to communicate with Adriana. Highly recommended!

    Sylwia2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place ! The best way to describe this place is that it is a unique, cute, clean self contained cottage that gave us a feel for staying in the country, at the same time in relatively cross proximity to the major attractions in Port Arthur and also to the many restaurants around the place. We received a very warm welcome with the wood fires lit to warm the place before we got there. Enjoyed our stay at this cute cottage.

    Charles2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • A very lovely old cottage in an amazing part of the world. We had a slight issue with a water pump but were offered a refund. Would happily stay again for longer.

    Katherine2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quaint cottage near the water. Lots of little extras provided in the cottage, and even had the fire going for our arrival. Great hot water for showers. Wonderful electric blankets on the bed. Really enjoyed our stay here, and only ten kilometres from Port Arthur

Relax in privacy in our two-bedroom open-plan cottage with all conveniences, less than 2 minutes walk to a beautiful white sand bay. A cosy light-filled beach cottage. Convenient off-street parking. Great views of beach and bush. Large sunny deck all year round. Roaring log fire in winter. Stepping off point for the many attractions on the Tasman Peninsula.
A very relaxing home filled with light from its large windows in every room. Perfect for families, couples and friends. The kitchen is well-set up to enable guests to cook up a storm. You can cook everything and anything with the equipment provided. There are even recipe books to assist with inspiration. Tasmania has such good fresh produce, it is a pity not to take advantage. There are two supermarkets in Nubeena (3kms) and Premaydena (10kms) has a general store that sells local produce, and many other things as well. There is a farm gate vegetable stall on White Beach Road that sells local and other produce. Local markets occur regularly - the calendar in our house lists some. And of course, Salamanca Saturday market in Hobart is only 1.5 hours away. There are lots of books, a TV and DVD/CD player, and movies. The shower is walk-in, and gorgeous fresh towels and cotton bed linen is provided. If it gets cold, light the fire, but it can get very warm quite quickly. The house is easy to access and parking for 3 or 4 cars is off-street. Only a road separates you from the beach, so enjoy its pristine waters. A nearby jetty suits those who wish to throw in a fishing rod. We supply beach towels. Please use these (not the bath towels) if going down to the beach. Port Arthur is 10kms away. There are lots of bush walking tracks including the new and world listed Three Capes Walk (and there are two bush walking books in the book shelf); and Pennicott's Tasman Island boat tour is a must. Explore Eaglehawk Neck and the Tasman National Park. A week will fly by in this fabulous location!
This property is situated on the Tasman Peninsula, most of which is national park. There are many walking tracks including the world-listed Three Capes Walk involving three overnight camps in well-built huts. The area has abundant native wildlife and birds. The water at White Beach is crystal clear and warmer than ocean beaches, being about 21 degrees C in the summer. The bay is very shallow in places, making it ideal for children.
  • This is classic beach house accomodation. Rustic but very comfortable with contemporary comforts and facilities. Located near a beautiful beach with natural features in abundance.

    Dennis2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, amazing scenery and lots of local wildlife, we loved our stay!

    Laura2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Loved just walking across the road to the beach -- rocks, shells, white sand. Even saw a manta ray one evening! Kookaburras visited everyday. Liked the easy semicircle driveway. Having spices and sauces helped with cooking. McHenrys distillery was a fun visit. Tesselated pavement is not to be missed -- spectacular!

    Hope2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptionally well equipped and comfortable house in a great location. Very short walk to beach and jetty with relaxing water views off large deck. Highly recommend for long or short stays.

  • What a spot! Beautiful home with all amenities you’ll need. Comfortable beds, spotless rooms, many kitchen amenities for cooking & having a lovely meal looking out to the ocean. Location is across from white beach which is quiet, clear & a great spot for swimming & walking. Surrounding Tasman peninsula is beautiful as well. Highly recommend staying here!

    Caitlin2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Janice has a wonderful cottage perched up above White Beach that made a great base for our family of four to explore the Tasman Peninsula. The place has a great deck and a big comfy living room couch for the family to relax on and catch some movies from her collection. The fire place was also a great touch in the evenings too!

    Aaron2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Warm, cosy fire on a cold night! A lovely beach for walks and close to the best restaurant in Port Arthur.... Gabriel’s. Plenty of opportunities to explore through other walks.

  • Absolutely loved our stay at the Pear Shed, adored our little 2 day home. The shed itself was comfortable, wonderfully decorated and homely. The farm environment was beautiful and I’m truly going to miss it. The pears, the coffee van, the beach, the bumblebees... it was all so magical. Thank you so much Scott!

    Sally2020-03-11T00:00:00Z

  • As two backpackers we loved our stay at The Pear Shed. Although we were only there a short amount of time, we made the most of it with a walk through the beautiful orchard and down to White Beach. We made use of the kitchen facilities during our stay which suited our needs. We were situated close to Port Arthur and it was an easy drive to our next stop, Maria Island. The apples were a lovely touch and we felt at home in the hut.

The guest suite at Runway House has a modern bedroom with en suite and living room with kitchenette. The suite has its own entrance and veranda overlooking the gently sloping hay paddock which was used to land light planes during the days of aerial fertiliser spreading. It was a hard decision to build the house halfway down the bush runway but to give us privacy and to maximise the brilliant views it seemed unavoidable and gave us inspiration for the name of the house.
Set in a beautiful native garden which now maturing attracts a host of birdlife including the resident New Holland honeyeater and in season swallows, parrots, cockatoos and many more . A great site with expansive views towards Smooth Island with the hills of Maria Island in the distance.
This quiet property is only a few minutes drive to shops, restaurants and beaches in the nearby township of Nubeena. Port Arthur is a fifteen minute drive and is the location of the Historic Site, the start of the 3 Capes Walk and the Tasman Island Cruises office and startpoint.
  • Modern & super clean apartment with a stunning view. Highly recommended for everyone who likes to stay on the tasman peninsula. Thanks for having us.

  • Lovely view and location 😊

    Joshua2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic space in a picturesque location, would recommend to anyone! The Garden is stunning, and the view is absolutely amazing!

    Tom2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a GEM. Bring groceries because you will not want to leave once you get there. A very clean, comfortable, modern, cozy apartment connected to the (very nice and helpful) owners house. The view is absolutely remarkable. It is hard to leave this place even to go to Port Arthur or many other excellent hikes or sites like the Remarkable Cave. We are from the US and if anyone we know is going to Tasmania, this is the spot we would advise not to miss.

    Charles2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience

    Aidan2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay, the whole area was incredibly clean and tidy. Sue was really easy to communicate and gave very clear and concise instructions to find her property. We particularly enjoyed the complimentary breakfast.

    Bailey2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sue’s place was absolutely beautiful, sparkling clean, cozy interior & drop dead gorgeous views!! We ran into Sue & her husband at the end of our stay; however, even though our time chatting was short- it was lovely! Both of them were extremely kind & told us about places we should stop on our way north. If you are staying near Tasman National Park/ Port Arthur I highly recommend staying here!!!

    Tatiana2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home, scenery, amenities.. Sue made sure that every little thing that would help us with our stay, was provided to us. And the view.... was breathtaking. Thank you so much Sue for letting us stay at your place. I will surely come back again.

My Cabin at Roaring Beach has a light and airy feeling. Perched off the edge of a rock outcrop it looks over a beautiful and serene bush valley, yet is close enough to hear the surf. All the basics for a comfortable stay in the bush. Weekly discount available. Please read about "The Road" and "Limitations of a small stand alone solar system". The cabin is not for everyone. It's a great and peaceful get away from the stresses of a modern world.
PLEASE READ ABOUT THE ROAD in other things to note BEFORE YOU BOOK! The Cabin is set on 100 acres of bush which is nearly all of the valley view. It is approx 1.5 hours drive from Hobart. The cabin has a wood heater...and there is plenty of wood, which makes it a cosy place to relax in if the weather is inclement. But go easy on the wood and learn to use the damper on the wood heater. It only needs a small fire to deliver maximum heat. There is a nice deck area on the valley side, part of which is roofed by a porch (great for sitting in the shade and also drying clothes). It has a gas on demand shower and a stovetop - but no oven... (I roast in the woodheater in foil or in the camp oven on the outdoor fire). There is a fireplace on the rock outcrop which is also a great place to sit and and relax. There is a queen sized Futon bed in the Mezzanine level; a single bed downstairs; and a double futon under the bed upstairs that you can carry down and unfold onto the floor downstairs. (please return it upstairs after use). The cabin is best suited for a max of 4 people. The stars at night are amazing as you can only see one other faint house light....and the cabin has a real feeling of being surrounded by Nature.
Roaring beach area has a great small community of conservation minded property owners. They are very approachable... so stop and talk!!! It's a great place to base yourself and explore the Tasman Peninsula, Port Arthur and beautiful beaches and walks.
  • This caban is the perfect location for a relaxing getaway. Peaceful, quiet and surprisingly comfortable! We had the perfect stay.

    Thibault2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Four of us (two couples) stayed at John’s place for a week and had a great time. The cabin is basically one large tri-level room containing a loft bedroom then a separate bathroom/toilet. If you’re all comfortable with each other two couples can work. The setting is very peaceful and the cabin really makes the most of it. Obviously because of it’s remote location you do need to be mindful of resources while out there like electricity and water, but these are things a lot of us could probably be more mindful of anyway right ;) John is very knowledgeable and full of advice about the area. We took many hikes, beach and rockpool walks and explored the convict coal mine ruins nearby, which were really worthwhile. We enjoyed it so much I’m sure we’ll be back, maybe in winter this time for a cosy weekend.

  • A Serene and peaceful cabin surrounded by beautiful bush. A genuine slice of tassie heaven.

    Andy2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic off the grid accomodation. Beautiful views, comfortable and clean with lots of natural light and bohemian feel.

    Kristian2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a great place and ideal if you want to be out in the bush on your own. A place that grows on you every minute you spend there. Just be aware of the steep slope to get there, but any medium quality car will have the power to make it. Highly recommended, we loved it.

    Josep2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy, clean and light-filled cabin in the trees. Roaring beach down the road was perfect for a moody sunset or an icy cold, refreshing swim. A fantastic day walk nearby at Cape Raoul. My only suggestion would be to stay as long as you can!

    Aurelia2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful and cozy cabin is perfect for anyone who is interested in having some tranquil and quiet nights in during their trip to Tasmania. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, waking up and sitting on the porch listening to the many different bird calls. We especially enjoyed sitting by the fire and unwinding after a day of exploration. Would recommend John's cottage to anyone.

Boho Cottage is our haven for recharging and reflection nestled in the stunning surrounds of the Tasman Peninsula area. We spend every possible moment here, relaxing, exploring, walking, swimming, fishing, surfing, dreaming — and like us we hope that every guest who stays will love it as much as we do. The cottage is located a short walk from the white sands of White Beach and a short drive from Port Arthur Historic Site, natural geological attractions, amazing walking tracks and secluded bays.
The house features three beautifully decorated bedrooms, updated kitchen and bathroom and a open plan cosy living and dining area. All beds and appliances have been purchased new with the intention of providing you with a most comfortable and enjoyable stay. There are two staircases off the front deck but reasonably flat access is provided at the rear of the property which will be your first entrance point. We have gone to some lengths to include a wide selection of DVDs, games and books to keep you occupied in the house. We strongly recommend a daily walk on the beach and that you explore the many many attractions located on the Tasman Peninsula.

  • We had a great stay here. The house is perched on the hillside with beautiful views over the water, and is bright, spacious and well-equipped. Plus the beds were incredibly comfortable! It's an easy drive to all the tourist sites, with an IGA Express just around the corner. A great getaway.

  • Great accomodation with modern facilities. Easy to explore the Peninsula’s attractions from here. It’s awesome being pet friendly as well.

  • In a very quiet spot with lots of privacy. Drive to shops. We did Port Arthur and surrounds in ease in four days. Really enjoyed our stay here, not too close but far enough to get to the attractions in short time with no crowds or traffic around the house.

    Kim2019-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect spot to base yourself for the Cape Raoul track - 10 minute drive away. Although cold, we had a swim at white beach (3 minute drive) after - was the perfect way to recover from hiking, before hot showers, wine and dinner. Clean, spacious, comfortable and good value. Bushland setting and water glimpses also a plus. Please note the dinner options in Nubeena (and the Tasman Peninsula in general) are very limited. We hit the serviceman’s club and pizza place, did the job, but if you’re looking for gourmet I’d be cooking your own. Coffee at Lucky Duck Cafe alright. Would recommend staying here.

    Jarrad2019-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Slice of heaven / hilltop retreat was a beautiful place to spend a few days on the peninsula. 15 mins from port Arthur, handy to local shops, yet completely secluded with a mesmerising view of the bay. Lots of thoughtful touches, this feels like a well presented home rather than short term accomodation. Communication was excellent, highly recommend!

We loved all the thoughtful details

  • Our stay in Primrose Sands was lovely! The space was nice and cosy, with everything you need for a short stay. Darryl was a great host and quick to respond to messages before we arrived. • Darryl is super friendly, warm, and welcoming - extremely hospitable and always up for a chat or local suggestions. We enjoyed 2 lovely nights at his place, which is entirely built by himself. His hospitality and friendliness is so refreshing,we were met with such warm welcomes. He showed us around, and put out some wine and chocolates. Beach is a 3 min walk around the corner and the general store is a nice walk away. Great convenance for our drives around East tassy, and local distilleries. Costal Shabby Chic Family Shack, only 1-3 minutes easy stroll to the beach down the lane way, enjoy the sunset at night. Relaxed accommodation will ensure you feel at home and rested. Wood heater, wireless and Netflix. Large block, great for the kids to run and play (fenced yeard). Outdoor area, BBQ and seating. Approximately 70m from pristine sand of the 3km long White Beach. There are two boat ramps close. White Beach is on the Tasman Peninsula, close to Port Arthur (only ten minutes away)
We have tried to keep our rooms from looking too pristine by combining new furniture with one-of-a-kind pieces. Worn pieces add to the overall look and make our shack feel warm and comfortable. Fall asleep at night and wake in the morning listening to the waves. There is Wood heater and reverse cycle air conditioner to keep you warm. Netflix and wireless internet to keep you entertained.
There a lot of things to do around the Tasman Peninsula area, the beach is only a short stroll 1-3 minutes. I can highly recommend the sunset at night on the beach, the beach is also suitable for fishing, swimming, relaxing and snorkelling. Port Arthur Historic Site is only a 10-15 minute drive. Other attractions to visit include; Devils Kitchen, Tessellated Pavements, Blowhole and Tasman Arch, William McHenry and Sons Distillery, Federation Chocolate Factory, Tasman Devil Conservation Park. • Our family had a lovely stay at Janet’s place. The house was perfect, exactly as show in the photos. The space was bright and colorful and sparkling clean, with everything you need - and more! - in the kitchen for cooking, and the beds were super comfortable too. Janet has thought of everything to make us feel at home in the space and was quick to respond to messages when we had questions. Check-in was easy too. We enjoyed the BBQ and sunny yard and loved being a 30 second walk to the beach for swimming, snorkeling and watching sunsets. It’s a great spot - would definitely recommend this place!

  • We loved staying here! Fantastic location at the waters edge with great fishing off the jetty. Expansive views from the lounge. This place is an experience - and so close to Port Arthur Historic Site.

  • Lisa's place was a lovely, quiet retreat in a peaceful setting. The home was very clean and comfortable and close to Cape Raoul and just a short, easy drive to Port Arthur.

  • Great location just a short drive to Port Arthur. Good shop just down the road. Quiet, very clean, super comfortable, well equipped kitchen. Caring host.

    Anthony2018-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely adored staying at Lisa’s. The view was breath-taking especially during sunrise. Loved both the indoor and outdoor spaces. Had a few rounds of basketball with the kids at the shed, explored the beach and even cat-walked down the jetty (yes, couldn’t resist it! 😄). Lisa’s place is also an excellent base for exploring Eaglehawk Neck and Port Arthur. Last but certainly not the least, the body wash provided was simply heavenly. Made us feel like we were at a spa. Thank you, Lisa.

*No forward bookings ** existing bookings honoured. Little Mavis is an affordable listing for an overnight stay in Port Arthur - this is a fun, near-camping experience, that will suit the young or the young at heart. 'Little Mavis' is a pickers' hut with a freestanding eco-amenities hut, in a garden setting adjacent to my home. It is 3 minutes from the Port Arthur Historic site and the beginning of the wonderful Three Capes Walk.
Little Mavis is a typical one-room pickers's hut, the type that was common throughout the orchards of Tasmania in the 1950s. A step outside is a bathroom hut, with shower and state of the art waterless, composting toilet. Surrounding gardens are a lovely place to relax after a day of sightseeing or bushwalking. You will have an indoor/outdoor experience to remember.
Port Arthur Historic Site is just 3 minutes away by car. There are some lovely walks, and stunning beaches nearby. Plenty to do if you are interested in history and/or nature.
  • Thank you Kathy for a lovely 2 night stay at Little Norris. A kind welcome and explanation of the facilities. The main hut was adorably decorated with fridge, toaster, kettle and breakfast supplies. The bathroom hut with composting toilet also wasn’t a problem, very easy to get used to. She even left us a little heater as the temp dropped, that and so many other things make her a really thoughtful and brilliant host. Had a lovely 2 days on the Tasman peninsula and would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

    Laura2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy is very nice and friendly. The place was clean and tidy. We had everything what we needed. It is very near to Port Arthur historic site. We can recommend it.

    Martina2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy's place was great for a stopover for 3 capes walk. Kathy added small touches like breakfast essentials and toiletries which were appreciated.

    Karen2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy provided a beautiful space filled with lots of thoughtful little touches and tips for tourists, e.g. information about places to eat and visit, soaps, warm blankets, breakfast cereals etc. It had a real camping feel and had everything that we needed. It was perfect for us! :)

    Ebony2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little place, thankyou for having us.😊

    Paris2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What an amazing host Kathy is! I had originally booked this tiny house, however on the day I was booked in it was absolutely pouring rain. Kathy messaged me and said that the weather would make my stay in the tiny house wouldn’t be so comfortable in such terrible weather, and that because her other listing (the Kestie Cabin) was free, she would upgrade me to that. So this review is mainly for the Kestie Cabin, which is on the same site as the tiny house. I had such a wonderful rainy afternoon here. There were little cute touches around the whole place, including different breakfast cereals, lollies, chocolates and a nice collection of DVDs. She also had the heater on waiting for me before I had arrived. The place was spotlessly clean and it is a great location. Would definitely stay again!!

    Zoe2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice place, very clean and nice touches. It's a little bit like camping though so if you not into that then it's definitely nothing for you.

    Laura2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay when exploring the Tasman peninsula! Kathy was a very attentive host, even providing breakfast for us. Both the main and amenities hut are beautifully done out and spotlessly clean.

    Mischa2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say. Cheryls place is not a 5 star palace but who needs that. Cheryl is very welcoming and friendly as is partner Wayne. Wombat Haven is warm clean and cosy with seaviews. Cheryl provides lots of little extras in the bedroom/bathroom, like tea, coffee, chocolates, beer and every toiletry need. To top it off Cheryl cares for rescue animals so you get beautiful cuddles with her furry friends.....that was so very special ....oh and we had a fabulous breakfast of cloud eggs, sausages, tomatoes and so on. What a special lady...caring for orphaned animals. Highly recommend to anyone who loves animals, peace and quiet. Its close to the beach and 10 mins from Port Arthur.

    Leah2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Make your wombat dreams come true and stay with Cheryl! Holding wombats and watching reality television in a cozy living room? I can’t think of anything I would rather do. It was surprise after surprise. We thought the wombat joey was the finale, but in walks the baby wallaby, and the next morning we were in the enclosure with Dora, the adult wombat! Cheryl and Wayne were so kind and welcoming and breakfast was a delicious bonus. This was the highlight of our trip and we still can’t stop talking about it.

    Michele2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend Wombat Haven to anyone who loves wombats and native rescued animals. Holding a wombat was I highlight of my stay. Comfortable bed and the breakfast was amazing. Love to come again to stay. Will recommend your airbnb to my friends.

  • Heidi’s blossoms on the bay is a great cozy place for our family during Christmas time. We checked in smoothly, the host left a lovely warmly Christmas gift for our family. We met several wild rabbits in the backyard, they looked very relax. My kids like the bunk beds very much, my husband likes the couch, the facilities are 5 stars level. We quite enjoyed our stays at this lovely house. It is closed to IGA supermarket and white beach only 3-5minutes drive, 13minutes to Port Authur historic site, 1.1hours to Hobart airport, this house is located in a quiet bay with beautiful water view. Highly recommended for family with 4 people.

    Victoria2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Heidi for allowing us to stay in your amazing home. We loved the little touches around the place, the books, record collection and board games were a treat for the family. The location suited us while we explored the peninsula

    Jeremy2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I loved our stay here. It was exactly what we needed - a peaceful, tranquil time overlooking the ocean with beautiful evening sunlight that we enjoyed on the deck. A great kitchen that had everything we needed and a comfortable bed in the master bedroom. Tasmania's landscape was beautiful and their cottage was nestled right in the centre of it all. A highlight was visiting Cubed Espresso coffee truck about a 20-minute drive to a slice of heaven with music, tables and chairs, cushions with an incredible view and vibe that made us not want to leave. We'll definitely back for our slice of time out in Tasmania. Thank you!

    Andrew2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Blossom on the Bay is a delightfully well appointed cottage with all sorts of charming details. A surprisingly large space with lots of room to spread out and everything you could need to enjoy your stay. Hubby immediately spotted the jetty opposite and ducked down for a fish. The kids explored the garden as well as the beaches nearby. And sitting on the deck watching the sun disappear behind the hill was the best. A beautiful place to stay.

    Ari2019-10-13T00:00:00Z

  • The Peach Cottage is a spectacular home with a character. Situated in a tranquil location it is minutes away from Port Arthur and many restaurants and distilleries the area has to offer. The house itself exceeded all expectations. It is comfortable, amazingly clean (I seriously have no idea how one keeps their house that pristine), with beautiful comfortable country-style furniture and striking 360’ views. We fell in love with the home and hope we can come back there again one day.

An original 1960's Tasmanian fishing shack, my lovely home features stunning views directly overlooking Little Norfolk Bay, 3 bedrooms, and a wood fire. Just 10 mins to Port Arthur, and 45 mins from the airport, my home has super fast WIFI, local artwork from Australian artists, and many good vibes! Come stay and get ready to explore the South East.
Welcome to my shack. Within an hour drive of Hobart, the house is the perfect weekend getaway. My home is super cosy, makes you feel welcome straight away and has plenty of charm and decorated with love. If you want a 5 star hotel, this is not it! The shack has lots of natural light, is beautifully decorated and tidy, with amazing views. It can get cold in the winter, but we have a wood fire, heater and plenty of blankets. There are 3 bedrooms; 2 very comfy double beds and one sofa bed (a king single or small double) for extra guests, plus with a large desk, with very fast WIFI.
The house is located on Arthur Hwy, with Little North Bay directly opposite, giving amazing water views and ease of finding the house. Things to do on the Tasman Peninsula: Nature - Pirate Bay lookout (before you get to Eaglehawk Neck from Hobart), the far end of White Beach is really pretty or drive out to Lime Bay (dirt road). If you want to see some Tasmania devils, there is the Unzoo a couple of minutes from the house. Active - there's a ton of hikes locally: Waterfall Bay (easy), Cape Huay, Shipstern Bluff (3 hours), The Lanterns, Fortescue Bay (4 hours worth it!), the 3 Capes just opened - looks amazing! History - If history is more your thing, Port Arthur convict settlement run amazing tours and is only 10km south of the house. Recommend the boat tour, and taking most of the day to explore. Also near Lime Bay is the Coal Mines, a nice walk if the weather is good. Food - Eat yummy fresh food; cherries (just south of Sorell is cherry farms, stop and grab some for the ride. The A9 heads south and is a beautiful drive), cray rolls (in Dunalley stop at the general store on Booth St and grab fresh cray rolls for lunch, yum. There's a viewing pull out over looking Dunalley Bay when you leave Dunalley - the sand ridges and turquoise water are beautiful), oysters (on the deck with a cold chardonnay), amazing locally made chutney, pickled fruit, quince (Nubenna op shop open Tues 10-3, Fri 10-3, Sat 10-1), fish and chips (Eaglehawk Neck near the pier, open late Sept - late May) Shopping - Op shopping is great in rural areas; Salvos (Station Lane, Sorell), Vinnies (Sorell), antiques at Murdunna (tiny old Post Office converted into a treasure trove of goodies), Nubenna (behind the petrol station, by the tennis courts), Dunalley (behind the community centre). Chill at the house - cheese platter on the deck, red wine by the fire, board games galore, read a book, and make sure you walk down to the jetty with some blankets and check out the stars… Hobart: MONA for the day (you can drive (easy), hire bikes (hard), or get the MONA ferry (fun - but an extra $20 on your ticket price), Tasmanian Muséum and Art Gallery is worth the trip, book an adorable and individual room at the gorgeous Hotel Alabama run by Kelly and Aeron in town, Mt Wellington for views, Criterion Street Cafe for breakie, or coffee at Betsys on Argyle st and say g'day to Charlie the owner. Extra time: Coles Bay, Strathgordon, Bay of Fires, Cradle Mountain, Trainee National Park, Bruny Island, Launceston gorge, The Apple Shed (best cider in Tasmania, and yummy cheese platters) plus great drives. *Please start your message with HOLA FRANKIE so I know you've read this!*

  • If you’re looking for a warm and cozy space to get away from it all, Frankie’s place is a sure bet. Sit back and relax in the comfy chairs or on the lovely balcony overlooking the water. Grab a book and switch off. The beds are super comfortable and the bedding is perfect for a chilly night in Tassie. Frankie has many personal touches around her cottage and she is a warm and interactive host. Frankie provided lots of information regarding where to get supplies and what was available in the local area. We would recommend Frankie’s cottage as a lovely place to stay on the Tasman Peninsula. It’s great to get away from the hustle and bustle of Hobart and you’re close enough to everything you need. Recommend having your own vehicle

  • This cozy little cabin is a perfect getaway from our busy lifestyle. We enjoyed the light and airy cabin that was very secluded but yet, easy to find. We enjoy that there was lots of different activities to do such as sitting around a provided camp fire and sitting on the deck looking out to the water. We will come back here the next time we are in Tasmania!

    Brendan2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful 2 nights in Carlin’s lovely cabin which was beautifully decorated with loads of light & all the amenities one could think of. Appreciate the small touches around the cabin, the generous breakfast spread & beverages, clean towels & linens and the fully equipped kitchen. The view from the deck of the surroundings were fantastic too….a sheep farm nearby, some woods behind the cabin, views of the mountains and the nearby lake..…a short walk to the lake is a must do! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • Lovely little cabin, we stayed for two nights and would have loved to stay longer. Very clean, super comfy bed (we would have liked to take it home with us) and very thoughtful little touches around the place.

Prospect@Premaydena is a comfortable and relaxing rural retreat located on a 2 ha hilltop property overlooking the calm expansive waters of Norfolk Bay. We are situated on a quiet rural road surrounded by natural bushland and neighbouring farmland. The property has stunning views over Norfolk Bay and the ranges beyond. This peaceful and natural setting provides an ideal retreat for those seeking relaxation and is a perfect base for exploring all that the Tasman Peninsula has to offer.
As soon as you step inside, you will feel the relaxed and cheerful vibe of your accommodation. Being both a little bit quirky and a little bit classy, it has been created to make you feel comfortable and cared for. The living area is a bright open space overlooking a delightful garden and is warmed by a cosy wood-fuelled heater - or for more instant warmth, there is a split-system unit. The kitchen area is well-equipped with a lovely Tassie oak benchtop, induction cooktop and full size oven. Provisions such as coffee, tea, sugar, condiments, spreads and olive oil are available in the pantry and milk and butter in the fridge. Fresh eggs from our chooks and what’s in season from the veggie garden and orchard will also be available. Immediately outside the front entrance to the accommodation is a lovely garden where you are likely to observe yellow-throated, black-headed and New Holland honeyeaters splashing in the bird bath and blue wrens and scarlet chested robins flitting about the bushes. Kookaburras, thrushes, wattlebirds and green rosellas also frequent the garden and occasionally wedge-tailed eagles can be seen soaring above. From your bedroom windows you can look out beyond the garden to the nearby hills and catch a glimpse of the waters of Norfolk Bay and, if you’re so inclined, enjoy some stunning sunrises. At night, you may hear wallabies and little pademelons hopping around just outside in the driveway. Although attached to the main house, the retreat is self-contained with its own entrance (through a private garage for your car), and you can come and go as you please. However, you are welcome to knock at the door of the house and let us know if we can assist you in anyway to ensure that your stay is enjoyable. We are also available via text message, mobile phone or email.
The Tasman Peninsula is a very scenic area offering visitors a diverse range of activities, all of which are within a 20-25 minute drive from our accommodation. THINGS TO DO While the World Heritage-listed Port Arthur Historic Site is the major attraction for many tourists and is definitely worth spending a day at, there are plenty of other places of interest and things to do. Take a leisurely drive and enjoy the natural beauty of the area, from the many quiet coves with their photogenic tidal flats along the shores of Norfolk Bay and the glorious sandy stretches of beach at Pirates Bay, White Beach and Slopen Main, to the dramatic towering dolerite columns and other fascinating rock formations of the Tasman seacliffs coast featuring the tallest seacliffs in the Southern Hemisphere. Alternatively, you could view this spectacular coastline from the water by taking a boat trip with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys or from the air with Osborne Helitours. For those who want an active outdoors experience, there is no shortage of opportunities. The peninsula boasts some outstanding bushwalks including the popular (multi day) Three Capes Track, Cape Hauy Track and Cape Raoul Track or shorter walks such as Waterfall Bay or the Convict Coal Mines Circuit. Note: a National Park Pass is required for walks accessed via Tasman National Park. Other outdoor activities on offer include surfing, kayaking, rockclimbing, sailing, fishing, paragliding and diving. Outings for families including the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo and Rosedale Homestead, both at Taranna. Other places of interest include the McHenry Distillery, the southernmost distillery in Australia, the Port Arthur Lavender Farm, the Convict Coal Mines Historic Site at Saltwater River and The Pear Shed Gallery at Parsons Bay near Nubeena. EATING OUT There are a couple of great lunch options within 10 minutes of our retreat. The Peninsula Cafe, which has recently opened in Nubeena, offers a range of tasty pastry tarts, bread and focaccia baked on the premises and delicious cakes and slices and great coffee. Definitely worth a visit. Open Tuesday - Saturday 7.30am - 4pm. Salt at The Pear Shed does great fish’n’chips and also serves good coffee and cake. Open Thursday - Sunday 10.30am - 2.30pm.
  • Beautiful views. Excellent location for visiting Port Arthur. Bronwen was a fantastic host, treating us to local cheese and crackers, home-made ANZAC biscuits, herbs and flowers. Very clean and comfortable. Outstanding shower!

    Chris2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful Airbnb is one of the best Airbnb experiences my husband and I have had. Bronwen’s cottage is beautifully decorated inside with wonderful personal touches, including gorgeous towels from Turkey. She provides natural, eco friendly soaps, shampoos etc. Bronwen also has a bin for compost, which we enjoyed using. Bronwen’s gardens surrounding the cottage are beautiful and we were treated with home grown veggies and fruit upon our arrival. Bronwen is absolutely lovely and very helpful with local tips. We also loved Spindles, the dog. The location is great with many beautiful hikes and viewpoints in the area. We highly recommend this Airbnb and if we return to Tasmania we will absolutely stay here again. In the meantime we will recommend to friends and family visiting. Thank you Bronwen for everything!

    Christina2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly magical place in the middle of nature. The place, situated on the Tasman Peninsula, offers abundance of charm, warmth and honesty. Bronwen pampered us with home made treats and Tasmanian goodness. Our little one enjoyed the manicured gardens and the company of Spindle 🐕. If you are planning a short stay on the Peninsula, try to stretch it a bit and make it longer with Bronwen. She is truly an amazing host. Thank you

    Lisy & André2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Bronwen’s place is great - lots of thoughtful touches and well located for exploring. Such warm hospitality and great kitchen facilities.

    Linda2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We so much enjoyed our stay here. It was stylish, comfortable and had everything we needed. Bronwen was an exceptionally kind host and even provided delicious friands which were gluten free as I'm gluten intolerant. The location was great for exploring the peninsula. If we visit the area again, we would love to be able to return.

  • This guest suite should be featured in a magazine! From the ultra-modern bathroom and kitchen to the carefully selected furnishings this lovely space is a perfect blend of comfort and style. There is beautiful garden with views of the countryside from the property and it is only a short drive to Port Arthur and other attractions. Our host Bronwen generously provided fresh produce, bread and cookies on our arrival and the pantry was well stocked with condiments and other basics. Stay here if you have the chance.

    Pam2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful part of our world! Was absolutely gorgeous, the fresh flowers, eggs, bread, veggies were a welcoming touch. Warm and cosy and a great location to explore Port Arthur and surrounds. Bronwen is a wonderful host who has thought of everything!

    Del2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really fantastic! The house is tastefully decorated, the shower is super and Bronwen is a first-class hostess! The communication was very good and simple. On arrival there was not only milk, butter and eggs ready, but also fresh vegetables and herbs and delicious cake. This makes a reception super. Bronwen is asnwezig remotely and you have a lot of privacy. There are not many stores or eateries in the area so take good care of yourself. Port Athur is very special to visit and for a nice vinery you have to go to Bangor.

https://www.discovertasmania.com.au/about/regions-of-tasmania/hobart-and-south/nubeena Nubeena is a sleepy, scenic village near the Port Arthur Historic Site on the Tasman Peninsula. It's a popular holiday spot among tourists and Tasmanians and offers excellent Beaches, fishing and waterside views, with World Heritage-listed convict sites nearby. Surrounded by a network of inlets around Parsons Bay, Nubeena has a long maritime history. The village was originally an outstation of Port Arthur and for many years was an important convict farming community. Coal was once mined in the north-west of the peninsula and the ruins of the soldiers' barracks and convict quarters can be found at the World Heritage listed Coal Mines Historic Site nearby Saltwater River. Walks and water fun can be had on the shores of nearby White Beach, while surfers hit the challenging waves at Roaring Beach. Off the water, a visit to Maingon Bay lookout, Remarkable Cave and the Palmers Hill lookout are well worth the walk. Remarkable Cave is named for the shape of Tasmania that can be seen at low tide. Nubeena is just over a 1-hr drive (113 km) south-east of Hobart.

    * No forward bookings ** existing bookings honoured. Kestie Cabin is private, self-contained accommodation in the garden of my home, conveniently close to The Port Arthur Historic Site (3 mins by car) and local restaurants. There is a very popular Ghost Tour every night at the Historic Site. The Three Capes Walk starting point is also nearby. Provisions for a light breakfast are included. It is ideal for couples and solo adventurers for one night or more. Perfect for star-gazers.
Kestie Cabin is a spacious and recently renovated studio-style cabin, in the garden of my home, which offers the chance to wind-down and disconnect for a while. There is a TV for the DVD, but no TV reception at the moment. DVDs and board games provided. WiFi is not available, and many guest have enjoyed the opportunity for a 'technology detox'. Internet access can be arranged for emergencies, and it is freely available at the historic site. The mini-kitchen has a microwave, toaster, sandwich press, kettle and fridge, and there is an undercover bbq area available for guests to use. The cabin is accessible on ground floor, via a gravel driveway. Wheeled access may be difficult. Unfortunately, the bathroom is not designed for wheelchair access.
Carnarvon Bay is a beautiful and peaceful location. There is a small community that is a mix between 'locals' and 'shackies'. To find us, travel just past the Historic Site and turn left into Safety Cove Road, turning left into Pitman Avenue. The bay is also ideal for kayaking. There is an exceptionally scenic 9 hole golf course 5 minutes away. The famous Shipstern Bluff surf break is nearby, and Safety Cove Beach is a treasure! Nearby restaurants include - 1830, at the Historic Site, The Lavender Farm, Gabriel's at Stewart's Bay Lodge, The Fox and Hounds and the Port Arthur Motel Restaurant. Please note - there is no public transport in Port Arthur. A small owner operated taxi service may be able to assist.
  • If you are seeking a cosy cabin close to the historic site you really should consider Kestie Cabin. Comfy bed and all you could want for a night or two!

  • We stayed in Kestie Cabin for 2 nights and loved it! Located just a short drive away from the Port Arthur Historic Sight, Safety Cove Beach and the Remarkable Cave, the cabin made a perfect home base for sightseeing in the area. The barbecue grill, fridge and well equipped prep. area made preparing a home cooked meal very easy. Cathy even shared some of her vegetables from her garden with us! We highly recommend Cathy’s Airbnb and would gladly return someday.

  • Amazing cabin near historic site Port Arthur! It's a huge cabin, with a fully equipped BBQ, and even pots and a small gas stove are provided. Inside the cabin there is enough space for the couch and TV with DVDs. The bathroom is clean and modern. We had everything we needed in this nice and lovely accomondation, which was the best on our 6 weeks Australia trip! Kathi is a great host easy to communicate with. We just can recommend to book a stay in Kathi's cabin.

  • A fun glamping experience. Just something to note, not a negative just a reality: the bathroom whilst visually private is not private sound wise. The accommodation is great for a family or close friends.

  • These safari tents are amazing and the tranquil atmosphere of sharing a meal with native animals and birds was amazing.

  • Our 'glamping' tent had more than we expected - everything we needed to either self-cater or have a lazy weekend away. It was in a beautiful spot overlooking the bush and the bay and within easy walking distance of the foreshore trail. Plenty of animal and bird life to keep the kids interested as well as plenty of entertaining areas in the park. Beds were very comfortable and the shower was nice and warm after a cold day exploring Port Arthur. Would definitely try and stay again if in the area.

  • Safari tent was located inside a nrma holiday park. Check in was through the reception. There are many wallabies roaming around in the park. Also had great walking paths nearby. Tent had a heater and the bed had a heated mattress pad. However bathroom was cold, which was expected since it’s winter.

  • Was really great to stay at a holiday park in a safari tent! Kids got a kick out of it, plus it have a full bathroom which was better then just camping. Glamping is the way to go! Enjoyed the experience, can't wait to try it again in warmer weather!! Would stay again 👍🏻👍🏻
