25 Riverside is a cosy 2 bedroom terrace cottage situated in the picturesque village of Oakamoor. It is the perfect retreat to explore the beautiful footpaths of Dimmingsdale, The Churnet Valley, The Peak District and alternatively just 1.7 miles away from The Alton Towers Resort. The village pub is a few minutes walk away and all amenities are available in the market town of Cheadle 5 minutes drive from the house.
  • Warm and welcoming With its real fire and tasteful decoration This cozy cottage was the perfect base to explore the beautiful local countryside. It has all the amenities you could think of and is right by the river, the hosts were very welcoming. Highly recommended.

  • A cosy little hideaway with a riverside view. Very friendly area with lovely walks and a fantastic tearoom near by with unmissable cakes. Great communication too.

  • Beautiful area, lovely cosy living room and bedrooms, perfect for a couple or a small family. I went with my daughter and my dog and it was perfect! Stairs are steep but there is a handrail

    Derek2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy little property, the log burner was a treat, combined with the lovely comfy sofas, it was a fantastically relaxing weekend. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom toasty warm thanks to the excellent underfloor heating. The walk along the disused railway line was particularly relaxing. The village itself is lacking in amenities however so be sure to bring with you anything you may need.

  • Just returned home from a 3 night stay. The house is lovely and clean and has everything you need. The local area is beautiful and there are lots of local walks right from the front door. The hosts are very friendly and have gone above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely stay. Can’t recommend this house and hosts enough :)))

  • Beautiful little cottage with ample parking on the street and all the extra little touches you’ll need inside. The cottage was immaculate! We felt at home straight away. It is in a lovely little village but is only 5 minutes drive from other slightly bigger villages which are well worth a visit. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for being a wonderful host Olivia.

Our home is located in the centre of Oakamoor. With a lovely view over the valley and situated on a quiet residential street offering ample parking. Also a large front and back garden for guests to enjoy during their stay. The bedroom is kingsize, with plenty of space for a travel cot, which is available upon request. Short and long term availability. Ideal for a visit to Alton Towers, beautiful walks in nearby Hawksmoor, or if you are working for JCB. Any questions please ask. Thanks
You have a lovely kingsize bedroom to yourself, with a window overlooking the front garden. There is a bathroom right next door with a bathtub and separate shower. The kitchen is available for use and so is the living room (although please take your shoes off when entering the living room due to very luxurious carpets...)
The house is set in a lovely peaceful location in Oakamoor, Staffordshire. A local pub and some great walks are only a stone throw away. Alton Towers is no more than a 5 minute drive away.
  • Great stay at Robb’s, great location, we were staying to visit Alton Towers which was just 4 mins away, perfect! Had the place to ourselves so didn’t get to meet our host, but plenty of communication kept us in the loop with instructions etc. Would definitely stay again.

  • A wonderful house and great location for anyone visiting Alton Towers. Great communication with host. Clean and comfortable. A great place to stay and nothing is too much trouble. We were even offered breakfast. Thank you so much.

  • FANTASTIC location for Alton Towers!! My daughter & I stayed here while we visited Alton towers & the water park. It’s just a stone throw away. The house is lovely & big, very quite, pretty village. Room was big, clean, cosy & warm. We didn’t get the chance to explore, but there seemed to be some lovely places to visit. Would highly recommend

  • Lovely room and the perfect location for a trip to Aton Towers.

    Emma2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay, the house is really beautiful. Little one loved all the toys in the living room and had an amazing time. It was really easy to find and literally 5min drive from Alton Towers. We haven’t met Robbert as he couldn’t make to meet us but left us clear notes of where everything is and how all works. The only downside we had was that we ordered takeaway from Cheadle Pizza place and we had hair in the food so do not get the food from there.

    Evelina2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for the night before a day at Alton Towers and had a lovely time. Robb was very quick to answer my questions on how to get to the house and had wonderful tips on local eateries.

    Brian2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • A truly wonderful place

    Esther2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A really great stay. Perfectly located for trips to Alton Towers. Robbert was helpful and accommodating from the start. He helpfully put in an additional mattress for the room. He was sadly away when we stayed allowing us use of the lounge which was an added bonus. I highly recommend Robbert's place.

A delightful cottage situated in a conservation area, tastefully decorated and nestling in a pretty valley opposite woodland. Explore the Peak District, the Potteries, Antique shops in Ashbourne, Alton Towers or walk to Dimmingsdale from the cottage. Come home to peace, quiet and a cosy wood burner or sit outside with a glass of wine in the little courtyard at the back and enjoy the birdsong.
Arrive from 4pm. Depart by 10am 3 nights minimum stay
There are many pubs in the village including The Bulls Head and The Bridge Hotel. Walk along the disused railway track from the cottage to Denstone Farm Shop for breakfast, lunch or tea and cake. Pick up a ready made meal there to take home and enjoy later in the warm cottage by the log burner. The lovingly restored Victorian Cheddleton Railway Station (near Leek) and the Churnet Valley Railway take you on a journey back to the classic days of railway travel. Treat yourself to an afternoon cream tea whilst taking in lovely scenery. Walkers can visit Dimmingsdale, walk along the old railway track in either direction from the restored Alton Station or travel on a bike along the Tissington Trail. Scenic Dovedale in The Peak District and lunch at The George in Alstonefield is a delight. Visit Haddon Hall (about 25 miles away) overlooking the River Wye with its romantic house and Elizabethan terraced gardens. Also, Wedgwood, Emma Bridgewater and Burleigh potteries are not too far away in Stoke on Trent. Ashbourne offer many historic building and antique shops. Also, Alton Towers Theme Park is just outside the village and offer much more than just the rides.
  • Wonderful cosy cottage in quiet secluded position but ideal as a base to explore The Peak District and Staffordshire. All comforts provided for and great tips on local places oven by and attentive host. Great getaway, even with the interesting weather, certainly had all seasons in 1 week. (Ciara and Dennis including snow😱🤷‍♀️) would love to return when weather improves to explore more. Thank you From Emma and Neil.

  • What a perfect haven! This is exactly the kind of place my friend and i were looking for, to get away from the chaos of the city. The cottage is beautiful. Exactly as is in the pictures but much better in real life. Spotlessly clean and will all the information about the local area you could possibly need. There was plenty of logs for the fire and very useful instructions for the first time users like myself! Saskia's communication was phenomenal, and I was given all relevant information and more, before and during the stay. The cottage itself had everything you could possibly need. Warm and cosy and totally functional. The location is perfect as simply 15min drive from Uttoexeter train station, and close to lovely pubs, local shop and beautiful scenic walks. My friend and i had the most wonderful time and we would like to thank Saskia for her beautiful home. I will be returning! lisa x

  • Saskia's cottage is a real gem, everything one hopes for for a quiet and cosy weekend.

    Adrian2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Saskia is extremely helpful & informative. She couldn’t do enough. The cottage was spotless, equipped with absolutely everything & beautifully decorated. We stayed for Xmas and on arrival there was a real xmas tree beautifully decorated & lit, log burner was all filled ready to be used. Kitchen had all the homely touches & all the toiletries where fabulous. Would highly recommend staying here, its a dreamy cottage in an idyllic setting.

    Ozgur2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • An incredible place with lots of great little touches: the fire's pre build, chocolate is left out and the styling's classic and never overbearing.

    Charles2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Saskia’s place perfectly charming, amazingly located and surrounded by everything you might need. Thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Our Wooden Lodge with Hot Tub is in Dimmingsdale forest the surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. There is lots to do like rock climbing the Churnet valley Boulders, Eating and drinking at the 5 pubs of Alton. Walking the staffordshire way or exploring the many forest tracks on your doorstep. You may want a fun packed day at Alton Towers park or spa. Cook on the BBQ, sit on your tree swing or relax in our new Hot Tub or toast marshmallows on your fire pit and listen to the owls hoot.
The lodge is luxury glamping and has 1 bedroom and 1 shower room and 1 kitchen lounge area with log burner and DVD player, Books and Games. There is a ladder to the second sleeping area. The Lodge is best suited to 2 adults or 2 adults with their 2 children because the second bed is up the ladder in the eaves and is off the lounge. It is like a large bunk bed, so adults might find it a bit cramped sleeping in the eaves bed. Outside you have a large covered veranda with table and chairs, Charbroil 4 burner infrared gas BBQ with side burner, which can cook a Christmas Turkey, Lounge chairs and a garden area with a fire pit, tree swing and New for December 2018 a Wood fired Hot Tub.
The farm is situated up a private lane on the Staffordshire way foot path. It is very peaceful and the walking is beautiful. You can save on parking charges and walk the beautiful walk to Alton Towers in 25mins. The area has fantastic mountain biking and rock climbing.
  • Great countryside escape. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We had a great time.

    Joe2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Sally and Andy are wonderful hosts who were always available if needed, but never imposed. Their lodge is lovely with lots of homely touches. It’s the perfect place to relax in beautiful country settings. The surrounding woodland provides plenty of opportunity for walking, and Alton has a number of nice places for a drink or evening meal. The hot tub is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break in peaceful surroundings.

    Daniel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant weekend here! It was just the escape we both needed. We walked into Alton and had lunch at the Ramblers Retreat (a gem) but spent the rest of the time by the fire relaxing or tucked up in bed as the heated blanket made it so cosy! We found the wood fired hot tub hard to get heated on the Friday, so on the Saturday Andy helped us out which was great and once we were in, it stayed hot for AGES! The cabin's location makes it perfect for a weekend away by the forest. Tip from us: pack minimally as storage space is minimal. If we returned, we'd try the summer so that we can make the most of the lovely outdoor space and BBQ, but we managed using just the induction hob which is a really good idea for places like this. We loved our winter weekend here. Thanks Sally and Andy (and your lovely dogs!) x

    Helen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We visited with our two children and we all absolutely loved our stay. The place was just big enough for a short break, the kids loved the loft bedroom aspect and the hot tub worked perfectly well. Initially we thought that the hot tub would take a few attempts but it was very easy to get going and doesn't take long to heat up. The apartment was clean and had everything you need. The views are stunning and there is plenty to explore. We had lunch at the Ramblers Retreat followed by a good long walk. We would highly recommend this host and we will be coming back! Thank you Sally and Andy xx

    Aliyaa2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views and an amazing space. Sally and Andy were amazing hosts and answered every question we had! Seriously recommend this place and will definitely be rushing back!

    Millie2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, cosy, comfortable lodge situated in perfect countryside. Great for walks with the dog, or children. Andy and Sally were wonderful hosts who were happy to help. Thank you for a great stay.

    Rob2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend stay at Sally and Andy’s lodge. We were a bit nervous about finding it but we were given great instructions so managed not to get lost on the way there. We especially liked the hot tub, it took a bit of time to get it lit in the wind / dark / rain but we followed the instructions and it warmed up really nicely - it was a bonus that we could use it in the rain. Would definitely recommend the ramblers retreat for some lunch - it’s not a long walk down the road and through the trees. We also had a lovely meal at the Bulls Head in Alton which isn’t a long drive away. The communication was great despite sally and Andy not being around for the weekend, they were still on hand to answer any questions which we really appreciated. The lodge is positioned really well so that you’re tucked away enough to feel like you’re getting some privacy but close enough to the main house should you need anything. The only thing I would say is that it was the perfect size for us (just two people) but if you were planning on staying as a four it might be a bit of a squeeze. Overall a lovely place that we would definitely recommend to couples looking for a cosy weekend away :)

  • The Wolery is a wonderful place to stay. My partner and myself came for Alton Towers but there are so many lovely walks and other things to do in the area we did some exploring too - helped by all the guides left by Michelle. The cottage is lovely, really clean and cosy and in a quiet location, the directions provided are definitely necessary but it's so worth it! The little touches with the milk, butter and cookies were so appreciated and made our stay so comfortable. We'd love to visit again!

    Cody2019-10-31T00:00:00Z

  • The log cabin was to dieeee for! Such an amazing building with amazing decor. Everything was superb and was definitely better than we thought it would be. We were gifted with a bottle of red wine which was very kind. I’m already looking to book again. Amazing value for money.

  • Alton forest lodge was incredible. The facilities were superb and the countryside was lovely. We will be returning.

  • Far surpassed any expectations I had. With there being quite a few of us I expected to feel a bit crammed in, how wrong I was!! it was very spacious and looked brand new, there were loads of quirky books and games around to keep us entertained and the location was perfect! It was so peaceful around and the hot tub was great at night with a lovely view of the stars. We went on a walk in the forest and found a rope which was pretty fun and walked down one of the trails to a lake. I will definitely be coming back here for years to come!!

  • I am reluctant to tell the world how lovely this place is in case I can't book again myself! If you like remote but stunning settings, this is for you! Luxury accommodation in a tranquil area which we thoroughly enjoyed despite wet weather. Comfy beds, well kitted out rooms and a luxurious hot tub too! Will definitely be returning 👍

  • This is a really different place to stay, interesting collection of bits n bobs with lots of history. Beautiful surroundings, location is perfect to visit Alton Towers and the Peak District like we did. Hosts are so welcoming and friendly, breakfast was amazing. We loved the added extras like a mini fridge, kettle, tea and coffee, glasses, very handy. Bedroom has everything you need including towels, toiletries, hairdryer.

  • This is a truely amazing stay. The house takes you back hundreds of years in history. All so incredibly and beautifully maintained by Chris and Margaret. The hospitality could not be topped. Really enjoyed the most splendid log fire and a fantastic breakfast in the very authentic breakfast room. Will definitely recommend to friends and come back very soon.

  • A fantastic period property, equipped with authentic furniture set in beautiful gardens. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived and were treated to a delicious breakfast. We spent several hours in front of the roaring open fire. We hope to visit again and would recommend unreservedly.

  • You will not be disappointed! The most delightful rooms with lots of character. Little extra touches everywhere. A breakfast to die for and warm friendly unflappable hosts. It is the second time my partner and I have stayed here and we will be back next year on our annual Alton Towers adventure!

    Tiggi2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • I had an absolutely superb stay with Chris and Margaret at Manor House Farm. The surrounding countryside is stunning, and the farm house itself was amazing - very old and beautifully cared for, so welcoming and warm! I loved having the use of the sitting room and log fire of an evening! My room was so cozy and comfortable and clean. The bed was really comfy, shower hot and towels fluffy. I had one of the best night's sleep there I can remember. The internet reception was great, although I didn't have much phone reception (which to be honest was a plus for a short break!) Chris and Margaret were very communicative and friendly, and so helpful in planning activities for the day. Breakfast was such a treat! All cooked to order, top quality and delicious. I only wish I could have stayed longer! :-)

Bijou guest house, in splendid isolation! Stay in our converted piggery, built out of local stone and set in lovely grounds on the edge of Ipstones. Set back from a narrow country road which is barely trafficed, you will feel the stresses of modern life slip away. The Piggery is decorated as a tiny house, complete with its own shower and toilet and warmed by underfloor heating. The Piggery is a great base for visits to Alton Towers, The Peak District, The Potteries and for outdoor pursuits.
We are in the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands, with walks into the Churnet valley on the door step. In September you can hear the resident stags rutting in the Churnet woods when the sun starts to set. You could walk down to Frogall by the canal and steam railway watching out for Kingfishers and with an ear open for woodpeckers. Hetty's tearoom is a lovely cafe/restaurant, recently opened in an old mill-building on the canal, which serves fabulous light snacks (the obligatory Staffordshire oatcake!) and a variety of cakes, including gluten free. We are 15 mins from the spectacular Roaches, with lovely walks of elevation, gritstone and heathers. (Stop off at The Lazy Trout in Meerbrook for excellent food). Ilam and Dovedale are highly recommended as a pretty but unique Staffordshire village with the famous stepping stones and flat topped hill. Our family lived there for generations, so Dad or I can probably bore the bones of you with Ilam knowledge! I'll leave it for you to ask... For cyclists the area is superb! There are many routes, challenging hill climbs and great training ground for serious competitors. For those after something more leisurely, try the Manifold Valley cycle track, through the cast scenery of the White Peaks. look out for Thor's Cave and sit by the river at the Manifold cafe with a refreshment. For gardeners I recommend a visit to Trentham Gardens, quite breathtaking planting in the restored gardens by Europe's finest designers (and also attractive cabin retail units). Locally, Consall Hall at the head of the Churnet Valley has beautiful landscaped gardens, splendid in Spring with the Rhodedendrons and Azalaes in flower. The iconic Chatsworth Hall is a lovely country drive away and for those looking for Instrusrial history, Stoke-on -Trent is the place for you! Gladstone Pottery is an excellent museum, I don't know anyone who hasn't been fascinated with a day there, or come home without having tried to throw a pot or paint a china flower! Emma Bridgewater, she of the spotty mugs, has breathed some life back into Stoke with her highly successful factory. It is worth a visit to the factory shop and the boho/Industrial cool cafe and decorating studio. After all that you will be so glad to sink onto the super comfy double bed or sip some wino on the patio, fire pit blazing and soak up the complete peace and quiet.
Ipstones is a pretty village in the Staffordshire moorlands with a thriving community spirit. With three pubs, a shop and butchers to cater for your needs, friendly locals abound and frequent music nights (Sunday night acoustic night at The Sea Lion). The walking surrounding The Piggery is excellent - it is just off the Staffordshire Way, on the doorstep of Consall and Froghall Warf, which use the industrial heritage to great use with canal cafes and pubs and steam railway. The ale rail is a great way to enjoy what local beers and ciders are around with a trip on the train! f you don't want to think about cooking on your break we have two pubs which serve food in the village ( and one for people looking for a traditional local with a great range of whisky). They are 10 minutes walk down the country lane, so park up and potter down! I recommend The Marquis of Granby for a great meal at really good prices. it is popular round here though, so booking is necessary! There are a many other recommendations around, with Leek, Ashbourne , Cheadle and Buxton offering plenty for every palette.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Piggery. Easy to find, everything you could wish for for a short stay. Made to feel at home straightaway and great information about the local area. Some clever design makes it feel bigger than you think inside with its high ceilings and sky lights and the heated floor is lovely! Will definitely be returning!

    Lisbeth2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, quirky and comfortable space in a beautiful location. Plenty of things to do around the area and some fantastic places to eat. Would recommend the marquis of granby for amazing pub food just a 10 minute walk away! So Thai in leek was also amazing. Hosts were fantastic and gave us lots of recommendations, would definitely return.

    Emma2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cute little getaway! Phillipa was quick at responding and recommending places for us to eat nearby. Great surroundings, bonus with the sheep and horses!

    Elizabeth2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The piggery is in a lovely setting with plenty of walks in the village.

    Daniel2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to stay. Everything you could need for a short break. And the underfloor heating was a delight!

    Gary2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place for a couple of 2 to spend a night, it’s so cosy and warm and you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door, we was greeted so warmly and made feel comfortable straight away! We was recommended a few places to eat where we could get dinner and breakfast, the host was so lovely and he made sure we literally had everything we needed and he didn’t let us leave without saying goodbye and asking how everything was, I don’t have 1 bad thing to say about this place! 100% would recommend and if I’m ever in the area again I would definitely come back!

    Chantal2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little place with all the amenities you could possibly need, fully equipped with a fridge, stove, kettle & microwave (which certainly came in handy). Unfortunately our car broke down leaving us stranded, Pip was kind enough to offer us a lift to Alton Towers in the morning, really going above and beyond to save what was otherwise a bit of a disaster of a trip. Thank you Pip, we'll certainly be back under better circumstances!!

    James2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Piggery is compact but contains everything you need for a short stay. Pip was lovely and very welcoming. It was quite basic as it's such a bijou little place but this wasn't an issue as it was just a place to stay after a long day out. The bed was very comfortable with nice bedding and everything was clean. The location on a farm was great and even though the main dwelling is right next door privacy was not an issue. The nearest shop and pubs were a short walk away down a lane and through the village and Ipstones is well placed for trips into the Staffordshire countryside or into the Peak District.

  • Just got back from a two night stay with my Mum and 6 month old son. The barn was amazing, even better than the pictures show. The living room has stunning countryside views through the huge window. Bedrooms were spacious with comfy beds and soft bedding. The views from the main bedroom were lovely. The travel cot and highchair were great extras. Lynda and Alan were great hosts, we received the warmest welcome and communication both before and during the stay was speedy. Would highly recommend staying here, we'd love to come back in the summer to take advantage of the lovely garden area.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Lyn's converted barn. So well laid out and interior design so beautiful. A walk to the local pub for good wholesome food. We went on the stormiest 2 nights but felt so cozy and warm with a good TV service. Horses to greet you in the morning was a bonus. Would definitely come again. Thanks Lyn.

Keepers Cottage was converted from its previous use as a log store and pig sty by ourselves some twenty years ago. What we have achieved is to offer an up to date quality cottage while maintaining all the old world charm so often lost in barn conversions. The downstairs 4 poster bedroom has a modern shower room next door while upstairs there is a double or twin bedroom with ensuite bath. The main living area is open plan with Sofas, Log burner and TV. Main cooking area and rustic dining table.
While the cottage is ideal for families it can also be perfect for two doubles or twin usage. Also ideal for walkers or just a truly relaxing away from it all break
Keepers Cottage is ideal for exploring both the Peak District and local Stately Homes while being only 18 miles from the world famous Potteries. Alton Towers Theme Park is only 3 miles away
  • Such a lovely cottage in a really peaceful and relaxing setting. It was our second visit and we hope to stay again in the future.

    Ben2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Keepers Cottage is a true little treasure. The picture's really don't do it justice. The cottage is full of character and charm, from original doors to the four poster bed and the lovely fireplace. We ended up arriving a little later than planned but Chris was great and responded to messages very quickly, along with easy to follow instructions on how to get to the property. We were provided with tea, coffee, sugar and milk in the very stylish kitchen, along with coal and kindling for the fire. It was the perfect weekend getaway spot in the countryside, to relax and reset. Could not recommend this place enough! Hope to stay again very soon.

Tucked behind Cheadle’s Georgian High street in Staffordshire , this self catering holiday cottage is ideal for couples wanting peace and privacy, whilst at the same time having all of the town’s facilities(pubs, restaurants, general store etc.) on the doorstep. The cottage is well situated to explore the Peak District and Stoke on Trent. Convenient for Alton Towers which is only a 15 minute drive away. It is self check in, you can come and go as you please.NB Free Parking is just over the road.
Hidden Cottage is quiet and secluded. There are 8 steps down to the cottage. One step down to the kitchen that is well equipped. I provide cleaning equipment and tea towels etc . Also I leave tea bags , coffee, sugar. salt and pepper in the cupboard. There is plenty of crockery and knifes and forks so you do not have to wash everyday but can easily fill the dishwasher up. There is a step up to the spacious bedroom with a King size bed and a step up to the bathroom which has a large shower.
Cheadle in Staffordshire is a small country market town with lots of independent shops and cafes. There is a convenience store nearby and two supermarkets on the edge of town.
  • A wonderful ‘hidden’ cottage. Spacious and sparkling clean! There was everything we could ever need. Location was brilliant for us having been to Sudbury Hall before check-in and Alton Towers on the day of departure. The instructions of where to find it, and park were spot on. We will definitely return if we are in the area again. Several places to eat, but we opted for a take away from the Chinese around the corner, and have a cosy night in.

  • Mount pleasant farm is a truly unique and special place! Emily is super kind and helpful and we had a lovely stay -so cosy and we slept soooo well!

  • Wonderful shepherd's huts at the edge of the peak district. Kitchen and bathroom facilities exceptional for a shared campsite block. From the placement of the huts, down to the lovely sinks in the toilet block, everything is thoughtfully designed, beautifully rustic. Emily and the others (and also the resident pigs, sheep, horse, donkey and chickens) were beyond welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Really well located, we were able to travel there on a public minibus from Ashbourne. We also took day hike to the village of Ilam and the Dovedale stepping stones (a moderately gentle hike along public footpaths - absolutely stunning views and passing through a lovely national trust park) and were back in time for tea! Couldn't recommend this place more!

    Maddie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Emily was a brilliant host - so friendly and thoughtful. The accommodation is really comfortable with lots of sweet touches. We had a great New Year here - enjoying the brilliant pub nearby, followed by a cosy fire back at the hut. We couldn't recommend more highly to anyone looking for a remote escape! Thank you! :)

The Dairy is situated on our small-holding. Home to us, our dog, cats, cows, chickens & pigs. Situated on the edge of Alton we are only 2 miles from Alton Towers and have a path down into Dimmingsdale. The Dairy has far reaching views across the stunning countryside. It consists of a large open plan living, cooking, eating and sleeping area plus separate bedroom and bathroom. It boasts a private south facing garden plus access to the field from which you can spot Smiler through the tree tops.

Our elevated position means that there are stunning views across the local countryside. This is a great area for families, walkers, cyclists and being 10 miles from Stoke great for pottery fanatics. Being on a small holding guests get access to lots of outdoor space and opportunity to meet our friendly animals.

  • Katie and Nathan's place is very picturesque. You will wake up to cows and chickens on your doorstep which would be very exciting for children (and some adults). The place has a very hygge feel about it. The hosts were very accommodating and provided an extra camp bed for us. They were quick to respond to any questions we had and also helped us with finding the place when we arrived. Short drive to Alton Towers, so a great location for visiting there.

  • Great stylish and warm cottage in a stunning location which is perfect for visiting Alton towers and the surrounding area. It doesn't get better than waking up and opening the blinds to see the farm animals and green pastures around the dairy. Myself and the girls had a fantastic time and would highly recommend staying here. Hopefully we will get to come back. 😁

    Steven2019-10-06T00:00:00Z

However, if you want a break away from it all and some peace and quiet/relaxation with loads of walks - we’ve got you covered. Right, we'll make you a promise. We won't fill this listing with loads of buzz words you see on ALLLLL the other Airbnb listings. We'll let the pictures do the talking. :) The downstairs is open-plan and has central heating throughout. There's a large dining table which can seat up to 8 people which is great for a nice meal together after a long walk or hike. The master bedroom has a double bed and a double sofa bed. The area is also a very popular mountain biking area with trails from the family friendly xc routes all the way up to the gnarly and steep enduro and downhill tracks. Rock climbing is also on offer as Dimmingsdale boasts some of England's finest sandstone bouldering crags.
We're close to a lot of things. According to googlemaps (it's better with directions than I am!), we're: - 9 minutes from Alton Towers - 7 minutes from the Peak District - 4 minutes from Peak Wildlife Park - 15 minutes from Leek - 16 minutes to Ilam - 18 minutes from Ashbourne - 19 minutes from Hartington - 27 minutes from Emma Bridgewater/The Potteries You get the idea :)
  • Sharon's converted barn was just so comfortable, spacious, modern and practical. The whole place is really new and wonderfully done up, with lots of interesting design features. The kitchen was well equipped and the dining space was stylish yet cozy. The bedrooms were big, sadly no ensuite, but the single bathroom was great. Beds were comfy (but very soft) and linen great quality. The place has a great wiew from outside over the rolling hills and it was very quiet. It was really easy to find if following your GPS and there is parking right outside. Lots of thoughtful touches around the place. Good location to use for exploring the Peak District. Sharon was a great host, very helpful and providing all the information we needed. Overall, it was a great stay and given the chance I would book again.

  • The location of the house is breathtaking on a hill with panoramic views. The house inside is so so clean and has everything you need in the kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. There are two bedrooms plus a large, narrow luggage room with a pitched roof that we fit two blow up beds into for two young children. There is a fourth large cupboard with space for luggage. Directions we received were perfect and the little homely touches like tea, coffee, sugar and milk after a long drive were so nice. Hosts were lovely and welcoming and very quick to get back to us when we asked a question. We used the house as a base for Alton Towers, which took about 15 mins to get to so perfect. Thanks so much for having us well definitely be back in the summer for longer this time. Xx

  • Sharon’s cottage is such a beauty both inside and outside. Amazing views, very stylish place and great hosts. Will definitely recommend to all my friends!

  • Excellent place could not recommend high enough. Everything you could need for a stay.

    Andy2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here with our friends and we were all thoroughly impressed by Sharon’s barn conversion. It has been finished to a high standard throughout and was a pleasure to stay in. Sharon provided helpful local information and was quick to respond. The views from the property were amazing and there are some lovely places to visit nearby. I would highly recommend staying here and would certainly look to stay again. We had a wonderful stay.

    Pennie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • From the pictures alone, I was sure this place was going to be nice, but it definitely exceeded expectations. Everything about it felt luxurious and a lot of thought seemed to have gone into making our stay comfortable. The house itself is stunning, downstairs is all open plan with a really handy utility room for removing muddy boots. There were lots of lovely homely touches like candles and flowers. The kitchen was fully kitted out with all the pots and pans you need but Sharon had also provided the little things you forget to bring like salt and pepper, dishwasher tabs and detergent for the washing machine. There was also some milk in the fridge and tea so we could have a cuppa as soon as we arrived. Upstairs is also stunning, very spacious and it all looked brand new with lovely, thick carpet. The beds were extremely comfy, fluffy pillows and super soft bedding. After long days out in the cold and rain we were able to come back for a nice hot bath, we loved that Sharon had provided luxury bubble bath (which happened to be my favourite), as well as shower gel, shampoo and body lotion. Also bathroom cleaning products provided too. The location is amazing, the views are beautiful and there is so much to do, we definitely could have stayed longer and will be returning. We're a family with young children so in the few days we were there we did bike riding, visited Peak Wildlife Park, travelled to Matlock for the Heights of Abraham and had some pub grub. Sharon provided plenty of info about the local area, where to eat and taxi info. It's the perfect place to stay for a family or a couple if you love the outdoors. Sharon was a fantastic host. We felt like she was close enough by in case we needed anything, but we were left to it and felt right at home.

  • A lovely house in a great little village. Alison was an excellent host, I was a little awkward in changing my arrival time more than once and this was accommodated for with no bother. My room was very clean and comfortable and I slept great. Tea, coffee and fresh milk were available in my room. Good value for money and I would happily stay again and recommend others.

  • We stayed at Alison's place for 2 nights during our visit to Alton Towers. As they say: Location Location Location. It is only located only 3 minutes from the park gates by car. Everything from checkin to checkout went so smooth. Prior to booking we had a few questions and Alison was always quick to answer. We very much recommend this place. • This house was perfect for our weekend in Alton Towers! Less than a 10 minute drive to the park and walking distance to the local shop, pub & takeaways. The house was spotlessly clean, and stocked up with tea, coffee, milk, juice, bread & cereal for breakfast (and a box of Maltesers, which didn’t last very long!) Overall, it was 5-star hospitality in a great location and I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

    Rachel2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location for stays when visiting Alton towers. Prefect space for a family to relax and spend time together. Good size bedrooms and living spaces. Philip made the house welcoming by leaving extra touches such as breakfast food and chocolates!

    Anna2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for the family. Ideally located for Alton Towers. Phil provided all the small essentials (tea, coffee, sugar, milk, cereal and chocolate etc... enough for a few days). There is a big Tesco just in the next town if you need anything more substantial. Also some good takeaways locally. There was a small hiccup with getting the key code for the door but it was resolved within 30 minutes and didn’t delay us one bit as we were still travelling. Thanks again!

  • Thanks Craig and family for a brilliant stay. Easy check in, met at the gate with the code and shown all of the facilities. What you see is what you get: cosy room with beds, seating and kitchenette. The weather was awful when I was there and still very warm and cosy inside. Toilets/ showers/ washing up all so clean. Will definitely be back!

  • Friendly and easy to contact host. Lovely area with great access to Alton Towers Very comfy beds (more so than expected from a bunk bed) Enough of a kitchen to cook some food, microwave, electric hob, kettle and toaster. The heater is more than enough for the space and there is a radio supplied Lovely quiet area and surrounds - expect a great nights sleep Little bit hard to find in the dark, so plan ahead and scout the road it is on with google maps and it is easy. • What a spectacular location! We used this as a base for a few days in Alton Towers but the surrounding area is perfect for walkers etc. The accommodation was well equipped, with the toilet and washing up facilities (which were sparkling clean) only 15 seconds walk. A secure site with parking right outside the building. Lovely and warm. The host Craig was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

    Carly2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is very well located to know the Peak District. The place is very cozy and equipped with everything you need to spend a few days in the tranquility of the countryside. Very safe and clean. It has heating and very nice view. The owners very friendly and attentive. Easy to reach and accommodation with a very special charm. We recommend it 100%. And above all do not stop buying the eggs they sell from their own farm.

  • Emily went above and beyond to cater for a scheduling issue. We look forward to visiting soon.

    Yuwadee2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Emily was a fantastic host. She met us in the darkness and made sure we were all settled in for the night before leaving us. The beds were very comfortable and our boys enjoyed a real adventure making their bunks into a den and bedding down for a cold winter’s night. In the morning, Emily was brilliant again, taking the boys around all the animals to say hello. The place was really convenient for us after a day’s walking too.

    Emma2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Emily’s place is an amazing and truly unique place to stay. Lots of very interesting things to look at around the campsite and Emily herself couldn’t have been more helpful. The cooking facilities were amazing and I would highly recommend 👍🏻.

  • We stayed for our daughters 9th birthday, we all had such a wonderful time. We will be returning in the summertime. It was so lovely and cosy, even with the storm outside. Cleanliness 10/10. Shower/toilet block facilities excellent. We had a truly magical stay.

    Karley2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place! Highly recommended. Kids will love it too ☺️

    Charly2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy place to stay. We fit our family of 4 (including baby). It was tight but that just made it cosier. Our 6 year old loved seeing the animals. The communal kitchen on the site was also really well done and very useful as the weather was a bit cold and misty. We did manage to have a fire though and Emily even gave us marshmallows to roast! A great location and I'm sure we'll stay again.

The Parlour is a luxury Shepherd's Hut looking out onto the Churnet Valley in Staffordshire. Set in eleven acres of organic farmland, there are walks and cycle paths on your doorstep. If adrenalin is what you seek then despite our peaceful location, we are a only a couple of miles from Alton Towers. The lovely market town of Ashbourne, the gateway to the Peak District, is twenty minutes away.
Welcome to Greenacres! We're Tessa and David, and we live in our family's farmhouse set in the middle of 11 acres of organic pasture on the edge of the small country village of Denstone, Staffordshire. The land has been farmed for centuries, and Tessa's family has been here since the middle of the 19th century. We are 10 minutes from Alton Towers, close to Ashbourne and the Peak District, and a short walk from the centre of the village.
Greenacres is set in the midst of 11 acres of organic grassland pasture, and there's a lovely view of the trees of the Churnet Valley and the Weaver Hills from the Victorian swing hanging from the nearby old Ash tree. A countryside location but only a couple of miles from Alton Towers. If you are a lover of the night, you will really enjoy our dark skies. There are no street lights around us, and on dark nights the skies are brilliant with stars. It's certainly a good place to bring a pair of binoculars and go stargazing in the garden. Greenacres is 5 minutes walk from the middle of Denstone village, and about 100 yards down a private track across the fields from the B5032 road from Denstone to Alton; parking is off-road in our large courtyard.
  • Our stay surpassed our expectations, loved how they ensured we had everything we needed, had a pan for everything, the little flowers were a lovely touch 🥰 everything from Salt&pepper and cooking oil to tea, sugar and ground coffee 😋 the folder of hints and tips was very helpful, thank you for a lovely stay

    George2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • David and Tessa’s place has by far been our favorite Airbnb experience—and we’ve stayed in A LOT of Airbnb’s, so that’s saying something. Not only is the Shepard’s hut incredibly cute, very clean, and well equipped, but David and Tessa themselves are wonderful and went above and beyond in so many ways. David even provided us with numerous tips for our trip to Scotland (our destination after Denstone). The scenery surrounding the hut is so peaceful and my husband and I had so much fun playing cards outside while their sweet dog kept us company. We would happily come back to Denstone just to stay in their lovely Shepard’s hut again and have the perfect little getaway.

  • My friend and I stayed for 2 nights mid week. Tessa and Dave were the perfect hosts. They were friendly and accommodating and couldn’t do enough to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The shepherds hut was comfortable, immaculate and beautifully decorated. We really appreciated Tessa and Dave’s attention to detail such as the vase of fresh flowers on the table and having the shepherds hut stocked with milk, tea and coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to go back.

Russell and Jeanette were wonderful and friendly hosts, checking in to make sure things were good and if we needed anything. The location is fantastic too. We went to splash landings at alton towers, the churnet valley railway and ashbourne during our break, all within 20 mins of where the accommodation was. We loved it and would happily return again.

  • I would definitely recommend this place to stay! It's very stylish inside, but very comfortable too. Beds are comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom very nice and easy to use. Good TV upstairs and the WiFi worked well for us. Plenty of space for four of us and good sofas for the evening time. Russell was delightful too, very responsive and helpful when making arrangements beforehand and very friendly greeting us all on arrival and helping us get settled, but then leaving us be unless we needed anything (we did, and he was very helpful with that!) The house is next to a road but traffic noise wasn't a problem, and out the back is a great view of fields which you can walk into. Russell told us about a good walk which we enjoyed, great to be able to do that from the house (with OS map provided!) In conclusion, definitely choose this place if you're considering it!

  • We had a brilliant stay here! Lovely spot for walks, would highly recommend walking on the old railway towards Alton to the ramblers retreat for lunch, thank you Russell for suggesting this! Some lovely villages nearby, the house itself was a great place the fresh eggs and mince pies were a great touch, fabulous host thank you very much!

Chained Oak Farm is located directly opposite Alton Towers theme park and is set in its own grounds of 24 acres of woodland. The Lodge overlooks the churnet valley; the views are magnificent designated as 'an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'.
The wooden Lodge is a really unique and exciting place to stay! You have your own space with an under cover sitting area, fire pit next to a pond and a cosy wooden finished room with an en-suite bathroom! There is a fridge and bbq for your use.
Pubs, walking, endless countryside, wildlife, great for star gazing, Alton towers, Alton castle, edge of the Peak District, football/croquet lawn
  • An amazing little lodge! We arrived and Liz directed us to the lodge even though she wasn’t home. A beautiful little place to stay with a fire pit. It was mine and my boyfriends first getaway together and couldn’t have spent it anywhere better! We missed breakfast on the first morning and left the place looking rather untidy as we woke up late. When we arrived back after being at Alton Towers for the day, Liz had been in and tidied everything away and made the bed for us. I wasn’t expecting this at all but it was lovely to come back after an exhausting day and just relax. We got the fire pit going and spent most of the night next to it

  • Amazing host, accomodation set in the beautiful countryside and a minutes drive from Alton towers. The breakfast was from local produce and one of the best I've had. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Alton towers

  • Absolutely amazing place can’t recommend it enough

    Jo2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing host. Treated Hayley and I like family. Great cabin, it was faultless. Cabin itself had everything we needed. The farm had plenty of extras. Liz is the perfect host

  • Our second stay at the fab cabin. Lovely, peaceful and warm, even in this awful weather! Will come back again for the summer :)

    Jess2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We can not fault our experience! Liz was an excellent host and provided just the right amount of ‘hosting’ to ensure our trip was a success. On arrival, Liz shares her excellent local knowledge and we were soon on our way (down the footpath) to the local tea shop The Ramblers Retreat, which had the best outside seating space I’ve ever seen - never mind the tasty brownies and gingerbread lattes. The cabin its self was pristinely clean and tidy and is set beside a beautiful pond area and rolling hillside which makes for relaxing sitting for seeing the evening in. The bathroom is well equipped and the water is hot! The bedroom was lovely and warm and we didn’t even need to put the electric blanket on (and we visited in feb!). We had a Chinese takeaway on the first night and Liz was really helpful with her suggestions and selection of menus. We are in the garden/breakfast room and Liz kindly provided us with plates and cutlery - and cleared away the mess! Thanks!! The lounge was available throughout our stay, which had a roaring open fire, seating and a TV with many DVDs to choose from. Breakfast in the morning was top quality with full English, fruit, yoghurts and cereals, and Liz again went above and beyond to ensure we had tried traditional Staffordshire oat cakes before we left - they were fab! Thank you Liz for a wonderful stay at the Chained Oak; we had a great stay and will be visiting again soon.

  • An amazing stay. Beautiful cabin finished with thoughtful touches and very clean. Breakfast was also amazing and with lovely hosts. Short walk to a couple of lovely pubs for food and drinks on the night. Will definitely be back in the summer months!

  • We had a lovely stay at Paulas place! Everything was as described but it was somehow better in person. Paula was a perfect host, she was really welcoming and went out of her way to make our stay the best it could be. She was very easy to communicate with. She had amazing local knowledge and gave us great suggestions for places to eat as well as attractions to see. The bedroom and en-suite were beautifully furnished with loads of amenities. The bed was really comfy and we had a great nights sleep. Paula really made us feel at home and it felt more like staying with a family friend than someone we had just met. Cannot recommend this Airbnb enough and will definitely be coming back in the future. Thanks Paula!

  • Absolutely lovely cottage! Sandra and the team have made it a very warm, cosy, and homely place. They've thought about it all and provide excellent finishing touches, even providing Gluten Free food for us. Sandra and the team have been great at communicating to us throughout the booking process and stay. We would highly recommend this cottage.

    Susie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage - very comfortable for a few days winter break, especially if you want to get away from it all (there is no phone signal or internet coverage in the whole village - which can be a real positive - and there is good wi-fi in the cottage anyway) - nice to have ample cutlery/crockery/utensils etc (it's sad to note how many other places skimp on these things which is a false economy) and two two-seater comfortable sofas to relax in front of the wood burner....

  • Vivienne was a great host, very friendly! I would recommend this place as a weekend break. Hot tub was lovely and the log burner was such a nice touch after a day out. Breakfast was also included which was so helpful. The lodge was clean, tidy and with everything you would need for the weekend - just as you expect and from an experienced host. We don’t use Airbnb much but we should do after this latest trip.

    Rich2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just perfect. Viv made us feel at home from the second we arrived. Firstly, we arrived very late and this was not a problem at all... the hot tub was fired up and a cute breakfast hamper ready for the morning. It was my partners birthday and there was some extra special touches to make it even more perfect. The place is super clean and very cosy. Spot on for a quiet romantic weekend away from a busy life with hosts that have just thought of everything. 100% recommend to all x

    Em2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Lavender & Bee was simply glorious! The location was so secluded, the view was beautiful hills with sheep, bluetits and rabbits! The hut itself is simply charming, with such attention to detail we didn't want for anything. Viv and Chaz even left us a bottle of bubbles and a delicious cake as well as lots of other luxuries to enjoy. Everything is so beautifully stylish, it felt like a swanky hotel. My husband and I stayed for 3 days, our first away without the kids for a number of years, and it was exactly what we needed - the peace and quiet, the comfort and the fabulous hot tub all meant that our time was very special, something we hope to repeat at Lavender & Bee again soon!

  • Staying at this little shepherds hut is a perfect way to escape and relax from day to day life. It is beautifully decorated and very nicely designed to give you the best possible stay whatever the weather. Rain or shine they have created a fantastic little space that you can really enjoy in the beautiful countryside. If it’s your first time in the area or staying in a shepherds hut with outdoor cooking, a wood fired hot tub and eco loo. Vivienne provides the most helpful bits of information and is always on hand to help. Providing information about the local area of things to do and places to eat. How to use the eco loo and hot tub, providing more than enough wood. Even helpful recipes to try out the outdoor kitchen. Everything you could want or need to make your stay comfortable is right there. Would 100% go back to stay in a heartbeat 💗 loved everything about our stay. Hopefully you will too.

    Jess2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • WOW. This is an amazing romantic getaway. The scenery is beautiful, the hut is fabulous and the hot tub is the icing on the cake. All the special touches are thoughtful. If you are looking to get back to nature and appreciate all it has to offer then this is the place to book. You will not be disappointed.

  • Wow what can I say, we had the most perfect weekend. Super hosts and an amazing space with loads of very thoughtful touches. A place you can really relax and just enjoy your surroundings. Old Castle Inn is a wonderful old converted pub with gothic / architectural features. It was built using the stones of the nearby Alton Castle and situated in the centre of the beautiful village of Alton, close to the Peak District and just a mile away from Alton Towers Theme park.
All the house available to guests.
Alton is a beautiful village on the edge of the Peak District with superb walks right from the doorstep. There are 4 pubs in walking distance, 3 of which offer excellent food, and plenty more in the neighbouring villages. The best restaurant is directly over the road. Alton has a post office and late opening Londis at the end of the street.
  • The Old Castle Inn at Alton is the most beautiful home with an enormous amount of character and perfect place for family and friends to stay. With 5 bedrooms plus extra beds that can be made up, it has plenty of room and has all the amenities that you need. From a fully equipped kitchen, wood burning stoves already made up, extremely comfy beds and lots and lots of toys and games to keep both children and adults amused, you really cannot ask for more. The area is very pretty with plenty of walks and a number of pubs that serve excellent food.....but do book in advance!!!!! Gabrielle is a first class host and I cannot praise her enough. Always quick to reply to any questions, she really did make sure that we were welcomed into her home and that our time there was her number one priority. I cannot recommend The Old Castle Inn highly enough and hope to come back for another stay soon.

    Philippa2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and quirky. The local area is very pretty with plenty to explore too. There's loads of space to sleep 12/15 people too over 5 rooms and the landing space. But the downstairs main table only seat at a push 8 people. Though there is an additional table in the kitchen. Gabrielle was very helpful leaving loads of tips and advice. I would definitely go back.

  • Amazing host. Was always available. Had a slight issue with d Bedding on the first night but Gabbi was at the other end of the phone sorting everything out. Told us where to find the extra bedding and apologied for it not being ready. Supplied soap, washing up things and tea and coffee (we brought our own just in case)) shop is just down the road.. Literally 3 doors down. Parking wasn't an issue. Easy access to Alton Towers. Lots of space.

    Alice2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a fantastic space, as others said the photos can't do it justice. Spacious, with new things to find everytime you look around. Very cozy and comfortable with every amenity you'd need. Nine of us stayed but never felt crowded and the one shower was not a problem given there were three bathrooms. Highly recommended the farm shop in denstone which is just 5 minutes drive away.

    Callum2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to explore Alton and big house with lots of interesting touches and plenty of space.

  • Brilliant place for family groups, so much for kids to do inside the house as well as locally. Great hosting from Gabrielle, helpful and clear communication. Locals seemed to know this is a holiday house and were polite enough to ask us how we liked Alton as they were passing. Very friendly village and lovely walks to be had close by. Would love to come back.

  • Fabulous house just a few minutes drive from Alton Towers. We were a large group of 4 adults and 7 kids and there was plenty of room for us all. Cooked and ate with ease in the well equipped kitchen and enjoyed a glass of wine in the pretty garden. Everything you need is here - a real home from home and super convenient for the shop & pub.

  • Had a wonderful weekend here. Place has everything you need, including a dishwasher. They even left a lovely little touch for my husband's birthday. Plenty of local suggestions from Joseph and is very close to Alton Towers. Hot tub was great, although you're only allocated a 45 minute space per day and it's only open from 5-10pm so more ideal for those who are out and about during the day, rather than just a place to relax all day. Would highly recommend and will hopefully be back at some point!

  • I stayed in Rebecca for a 2 day trip to Alton Towers. The apartment was beautifully clean and so comfortable. We had everything we could need and Joseph the host was very helpful and hospitable. • Amazing host, great location and very clean & comfortable accommodation. Joseph was very friendly and humble and made us feel very welcome upon our first meet and throughout the duration of our stay. Just a few minutes drive away from Alton Towers made this location perfect for us and the neighbourhood is very peaceful, calm and quiet. The accommodation itself is very well equipped and cosy, we also had some small treats left for us ( hot crossed buns & mini chocolate eggs ) which we felt was a nice added touch of generosity to our easter break. The Jacuzzi & Sauna was also very well maintained and we were able to book our own time slot which gave us some privacy whilst using these facilities. Would recommend Joseph & Alisons accommodation to all :) 10/10 thanks

Dimmingsdale is an area of outstanding beauty and has 100's of acres of forests to explore. We are on the opposite valley to Alton Towers and the walk is spectacular. Alton is 10 mins by car and a beautiful 40 minute walk away where you will find to very good gastro pubs The Alton Bridge and The Royal Oak and 4 other pubs to crawl around sampling the local ales. Please take care because the lanes approaching us are very narrow and bumpy so please drive with care.
  • Amazing pod with plenty of space which includes a balcony with cooking hobs, a gas powered BBQ and a table and chairs which has some shelter of its own too! Wood fire inside and fire powered hot tub are also great additions! Nice and quiet area and nice hosts. About a 45 min walk to some lovely pubs in Alton

  • Absolutely beautiful location. My friend and I travelled for Alton Towers services day. The Pod was very easy to find and is set in such a peaceful area. We generally followed the satnav and it took us right to the location. We struggled with the hot tub (only because we'd never lit a fire before) but Sally was on hand to help which saved the situation. The town of Cheadle was only 5 minutes away for any amenities and shops or takeaways. Alton Towers was also a short drive which was very beneficial after a long day of walking and being thrown around on roller-coasters. Absolutely lovely stay. Thank you Sally and Andy.

    Jess2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful pod that is cosy and clean. The hot tub is a real treat and quite magical. There are plenty of great “dog” friendly pubs within walking distance and we would highly recommend a stay if you are looking for peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life! The hosts were thoughtful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Lynne2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the pod as a Christmas present for my husband since January is often a bit rubbish & we needed something to look forward to! It was everything I'd hoped for... a lovely little self contained hut with everything you might need, and a bonus jar of marshmallows to toast on the fire! The log burner kept the place cozy for when we returned from a long walk around the beautiful countryside! The wood fired hot tub worked brilliantly & was the best way to unwind in the evening; especially luxurious in the cold February night air. Sally & Andy are brilliant hosts, and were super understanding about an accidental breakage (which we have of course paid for!) I would not hesitate to return here, in fact, we have made it our goal to have 2 countryside retreats each year, so I'm certain we'll be back! Thank you x

  • Had a fantastic time staying in the pod. Had everything we needed there. Really comfortable and on the route of lovely walks around the Staffordshire way. Really nice accommodation - clean and cosy.

  • Great POD, remote, secluded, quiet, fab walks. Hot tub was amazing. Highly recommend for a remote, quiet get away from civilisation. We loved it.

Peacock Cottage is a self- catering Holiday cottage which is a converted out building at Windy Arbour Farm. The property is located within 3 miles of Alton Towers, yet is set in a beautiful rural location with lovely panoramic views and a delightful garden in which to relax. A very quiet location accessed by means of a single track road. There is plenty of off-road parking and outside seating space to chill and unwind after a hectic day. The Peak District is within a short drive away.
The 2 bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor, with the living and kitchen areas on the first floor. There is a double sofa bed in living area, and a double futon is accessed, via a ladder in the mezzanine. The second bathroom is on the first floor.
A quiet rural location within 3 miles of Alton Towers. The village has the best large farm shop/cafe in the UK and a super local pub
  • Great place to stay and Gill was a great host

  • We had a lovely stay. Gill was very friendly and helpful and accommodating with the check in times as we had a long journey and several of us travelling up. The cottage was beautiful and was kept to a very high standard with some really nice touches such as leaving us coffee, teas, chocolate! We made use of all the beds as there were so many of us and we were all very comfortable! Will definitely stay here again when we come up next time, thank you!

  • The host was very nice! We did not drive a car so she drives us to Alton Tower in the morning and pick us up in the evening for the two days.
