  • The lodge is the perfect countryside escape, everything from the moment we arrived to when we left was brilliant. We loved being on the farm and took a walk to see all the animals every day, and the fireplace in the living room was wonderful for the cold wet day we had. Can't find any fault with our experience and we're already planning to come back!

  • A home from home experience, where nothing is too much trouble. Amazing hosts, lovely people

    Julie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great English BnB. Prompt communication for the booking, friendly welcome when I got there, lovely room, spotless, and the bathroom was superb. Breakfast was lovely, Ken said I could have any variation on breakfast, but the full English was what I wanted anyway, fresh fruit and a variety of cereals, fresh coffee, everything I needed in a homely atmosphere. In fact, everything I would hope for at an English BnB. Thank you Ken and Sylvia!

    Tony2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ken & Sylvia were great hosts. The accommodation was very clean. Great value for money.

    Oliver2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A home from home. Very relaxing and Ken's food was excellent. A true lovely couple who couldn't of done any more to make you feel at home.

    Mark2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ken and Sylvia made us welcome from the moment we arrived. It felt like a home from home. We had a great breakfast. The beds were large and comfortable. Ken offered and gave us help with getting to the nearby wedding we attended. We also shared a drink and some life stories. Lovely!

    Dave2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • It is always a delight to stay at Lilycroft, the welcome is warm, the hosts are a delight and it is alway spotlessly clean.

    Phil2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This is a real gem of an Air B&B with Ken & Sylvia the most amazing hosts. The accommodation is all ‘upstairs’ comprising of 2 double bedrooms, with one room having the en suite in it (which is shared by both rooms). The beds are super comfy, everywhere scrupulously clean with the bathroom having a great shower (no bath). Lots of thoughtful touches: tea & coffee making facilities in the space between the 2 bedrooms; bottles of water; toiletries in the bathroom should one forget anything of one’s own. Evening meals were an option for a very nominal additional charge. The food was home cooked by Ken and on both evenings they ate with us, making us feel like we were part of the family. Amazing! This is one of the best AirB&B ever....one not to be missed!

We particularly enjoyed the pool table and cinema room! Dan and Laura were extremely helpful and could not have done more to accommodate us during our stay. Even down to the thoughtful welcome gifts. • Smaller than in the photo's, ladder up to bedroom is almost vertical. The window in opener in bedroom is badly positioned as i walked into through night going to the toilet. Arrived late , penny had left a light on but didn't throw out light enough to find the key box . Could do with a curtain on door and window. Stairs from toilet very slippery ( i slipped and twisted my elbow, still in pain 3 day's later ). Wrong time of yr for me as i had to got straight to bed as it was that cold even after fan heater on for over an hour im sorry for the negativity but if id known id booked elsewhere.

Detached house tucked away down a country lane with lovely views over local countryside. Four bedrooms, a large lounge with south facing windows and private rear garden. Parking for two cars on the driveway and patio for BBQ's or a quiet G&T. Fitted kitchen, dining room, utility room with storage for bikes. Bathroom with bath and shower and downstairs w/c. Well located for Matlock, Bakewell, Chatsworth House and local towns. Derby is 20 minutes drive and there is a bus route close to the house.
Snowdrop Valley is a quiet unmade country lane, only serving a handful of properties. It is also only 5 minutes walk from the village centre, where you will find a mini-market, cafe, bakery, restaurant, post office and hairdresser / beauty salon. There are also a couple of pubs and churches within the village as well as a medical centre and The Glebe community centre with a variety of activities going on. There are lovely country walks with footpaths starting just 100 yards from the house and as Crich is set on top of a hill, there are nice views of the the area from many places in and around the house and village.

  • Was so happy with our stay at this little bungalow! Amazing! Such cute thoughts put into the little touches! As soon as we walked in we smelt a breath of fresh air! It was so clean! The bed was the most comfy thing I’ve slept on! We literally knocked out as soon as we got into it! I’d 10000% come and stay here again! Perfect for a little get away! We even got complimentary breakfast! What more could we possibly ask for!

    Kavita2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly I like to comment on how incorrect the last review was, Emma is very good at communication, I messaged her a couple of times and both times she answered my questions, I was up here visiting family, we were eating in Belper which is less than 5 minutes away in a car. The bungalow itself is beautifully decorated and has some lovely features, there is cereal, bread, butter, jam, milk, orange juice, tea, eggs and coffee provided. The bed is so comfortable and the walk in shower is amazing. It is private and not overlooked by any houses. I love the fact I could let myself in via a keysafe as I chose a self-contained place as I love my privacy. I will definitely be back as it is a wonderful place to stay.

    Yvonne2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal accommodation for two and dog friendly. Well equipped, spacious, comfy, clean, welcoming. Key box so conviennent. Heating and lighting in for arrival. Lots of supplies for breakfast . Clear communication. Amazing value. Our second time here. Can highly recommend.

  • The annex is absolutely stunning, spotless and so incredibly peaceful. The bed is incredibly comfy, the room has lovely, thoughtful touches such as milk in the fridge, condiments in cupboards which one didn't expect. Lounging in front of the fire in such a private space was wonderful. The power shower is brilliant, and once again the bathroom had little touches such as shower gel etc. Bought some eggs too! I can't recommend this place enough.

The Old Wine Cellar is a 4 bedroom apartment which forms part of the main farmhouse at Oakerthorpe Holiday Village.
The Old Wine Cellar is part of the main Farmhouse known as Amber Mill Farm and one of seven properties within Oakerthorpe Holiday Village. The Old Wine Cellar was originally used as a wine cellar and meat storage as the temperature without heating stays at a constant +1 ˚c - + 2˚c. The interior boasts of all original stone work features which are truly amazing. All rooms are below ground level and all have outside windows apart from one. The property was built circa 1790 and is grade 2 listed with mandatory single glazing however the Old Wine Cellar is still very warm and cosy. The Old Wine Cellar consists of a bespoke kitchen with tiled granite worktops and includes 2 fridges, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine with a living /dining room, 2 double bedrooms one with en-suite, twin room, single bedroom and a family bathroom and has the benefit of Freeview TV and Wi-fi. The Cellar has a standard occupancy of 7 however we are able to sleep 10 by adding additional put up beds in the largest bedrooms. The price is £20 per bed/per night. The dining table has seating for 8 with space for 2 extra folding chairs if needed. It boasts of underfloor heating keeping room temperature at a constant level seemingly setting it apart from the outside world in its own perfect bubble, to be noted that the ceiling height varies throughout the property and in some parts the doors are below standard height. The property has parking directly outside and is accessed via an external stone staircase. Grounds include a large playpark with playhouse, designated BBQ area, a floodlit sports area and a bespoke enclosed dog walking area along the banks of the River Amber, where the adjacent sluice gates and weir will be seen that served to provide water power to the neighbouring Cotton Mill circa 1790. Adjacent the property is a walled Orchard which has chickens, geese, ducks, bantams, quails, peacocks, sheep, pigs and meerkats is where Farmer Vic invites guests to help at feeding time and collect eggs from the chickens throughout the year except during the Christmas period. Oakerthorpe Holiday Village aims to provide a truly memorable stay for all its guests with top class accommodation, striving at all times to deliver the very best along with giving a unique and memorable experience however we would like to make you aware that approximately 150 metres from the property is a main railway line which for many, especially our younger visitors, enriches the village experience from which it must be said there is minimal sound pollution.
All the following attractions are within the local area. Theme parks and children's activities: Alton Towers, Gullivers Kingdom, Cable cars and amusements at Matlock Bath. National buildings and monuments: Crich Stand, Wingfield Manor, Chatsworth House, Riber Castle, Haddon Hall. For walking and cycling enthusiasts: High Peak Trail, Carsington Water, Derbyshire Dales. Other local attractions include: Crich tramway museum and the famous towns of Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock
  • This is a great place to stay for a group. Outstanding features of the Old Wine Cellar are the curved, stone walls and Orchard. Would thoroughly recommend.

    Helen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z

    Henry2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The wine cellar of the farmhouse we stayed in had been very stylishly renovated to suit accomodation purposes. It was very chic, homely and cosy. The mattresses and pillows on the beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the amenities of the sports pitch and BBQ area. There was ample parking on site. Communication with Rachel prior to our stay was efficient and very welcoming.

    Alice2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous weekend in this beautiful location. Always quick to respond and super helpful!

    Nicola2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • This farm conversion is exceptionally stylish and has lots to offer families. The wildlife is a lovely added extra and Vic hosts a fantastic feed the animals visit which was thoroughly enjoyed by children and adults. The play park is nicely kitted out and the dads enjoyed the floodlit sports area. Within the accommodation there is everything you need for a lovely stay. We visited with family, six adults and four children, and there was plenty of space for all of us. The accommodation is within 15 minutes of Matlock which was a lovely day out, we also visited Bakewell which was around 30 minutes away. We will definitely return.

  • If anyone was unsure or thinking about booking Clematis Cottage, do it! You won’t be disappointed. Annette has thought about everything when it comes to her guests living comfortably and finding their surroundings. All the finishing touches were so much appreciated, and for a small space it didn’t feel small at all! I can’t wait to book this little cottage in the future. Annette’s hosting was second to none and she made sure that our stay was the best it could be. Thank you! As for the area, the village is part of rolling hills of Derbyshire, it’s beautiful!

    Jade2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage with thoughtful, attentive hosts who made our weekend away feel very special and memorable.

    William2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing little gem Annette’s cottage is, quite literally perfect. We’ve made some great memories at clematis cottage.

    Oscar2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem of a place!!! Annette and Dean were amazing hosts - there were so many thoughtful touches which really made us feel pampered.. The location is brilliant with lovely walks on the doorstep. The house itself was immaculately clean.. And there were treats and blankets for Penny the dog.... I can honestly say it was my best Airbnb experience ever!!

    Vicky2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The whole experience was amazing. We loved the cottage the moment we walked in. Some lovely little touches and sparklingly clean. Nothing is too much trouble and we would return in a heartbeat.

    Lyn2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights for my partners birthday weekend. It was idyllic from start to end. Annette and Dean were perfect hosts and offered lots of support to make our stay memorable, including the option for an early check in and a late check out, which we really appreciated. The quality of the cottage and it’s facilities were excellent and we wanted for nothing. Two comfy sofas to enjoy whilst watching the large flat screen TV each night, both with soft throws and cushions on to snuggle down into. Now TV, Netflix etc gave us lots of movie choice as well as freesat TV. Wireless was great. The kitchen was very well equipped and we were given a bottle of wine, snacks, bread, milk etc as well as doggie snacks for our pooch Sammy. The bathroom and shower was amazing, really modern and well fitted out. The bedrooms were great. We only used the main bedroom but loved the second twin room which was plenty spacious enough for a family of four. The bed is really comfy and a cute jack and jill bathroom for both rooms to use was great and really handy. We didn’t really use the outside space much but it looked nice and would be great to enjoy in the summer months. A detailed guest guide is provided to read on both the accommodation and things to do nearby In the area. We would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone looking fir a break in the Peak district!

    Debbie2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed staying in Annette’s cottage over Christmas 2019 - it was the perfect cosy, well acquainted spot with lovely homey and festive touches that made the holiday all the more comfortable. The cottage is extremely well maintained and spotless upon arrival. The fire adds a cosy way to quickly warm up after a walk in the peaks, and everything has been carefully considered and decorated. We particularly appreciated the well stocked kitchen which offers some staple ingredients to cook yourself breakfast or a couple of simple meals if you find yourself stuck without time to buy your own groceries. As we were without a car, this was very helpful. I’m hoping we can visit again!

    Elle2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Could not fault anything. This is a beautiful home in a great location. Annette was incredible, could not have hoped for a better host. She was thoughtful, helpful and just simply amazing. We were only there for the weekend but we wished we could have stayed longer. It was perfect!

  • Lovely log cabin with hot tub. Great value for money and in a lovely location. Would definitely go again.

  • Second visit within the month, love this little retreat, will definitely be returning 😊

  • My mum and I came to stay in one of Corinne’s cabins to relax and recharge. This was absolutely the perfect place to do this. The cabin was wonderful - snug, clean and well kitted out - but the hot tub was the most delightful addition. To lie there looking out at the beautiful horses and countryside in the midst of Storm Jorge was certainly something we won’t forget for a long time. Although we did not meet Corinne, she was a great host. Check in was seamless and there were some lovely welcome goodies. We hope to make this an annual thing!!

    Rosie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing cabin - cosy, clean and with some really thoughtful touches. The hot tub was fantastic and we were so close to lots of great attractions. Peaceful and a lovely place to escape to. We’d love to visit again.

    Mia2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute cabin with everything you could need. Hot tub was lovely for the winter evenings!

    Rachel2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely wooden lodge, with a fabulous hot tub. A great place to get away from a busy life. Very quiet location, but only a 10-15 minute walk to the local pub & not far to drive to Matlock & the Peak District. Excellent host too. Would definitely visit again.

    David2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cosy cabin, in a wonderful peaceful atmosphere. The hot tub did not disappoint, even in the slightly miserable weather. Corrine was very quick and helpful with all her responses with queries prior to booking. And has handy knowledge of local attractions, takeaways and taxis in case this should be needed. I wouldn’t hesitate to return for another mini break

    Sarah2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin with everything you need, really close to local towns and villages with a nice pub near. Hot tub is really great and the host is very responsive to anything you may need, would highly recommend.

  • A lovely lodge, surrounded by fields yet only 5 minutes walk to a good pub. The accommodation was spotless and had everything that you would need for a stay. If you have dogs it’s great as there are footpaths from the lodge that go across many fenced in fields. Also you can have use of the owners paddock. Owners are very welcoming and are on hand if needed. Would definitely stay again.

Based in rural Derbyshire our cabins are hand-crafted to a high standard. Overlooking glorious english countryside. You may have to share the grounds with our resident heavy horses, the rabbits and the badgers to name a few. But if you're OK with that, you have use of your own hot tub to watch them all go about their day. Once you've had your fill of nature from the decking, come inside to a fully kitted kitchen, TV and en-suite bathroom. Not to mention the king size bed.

Very quiet former farmhouse tucked into a peaceful corner of Marehay and overlooking countryside. There are stables and horses.
Very quiet detached house in Marehay, on the outskirts of Ripley in the borough of Amber Valley in Derbyshire. A cosy double bedroom in a former farm house set in a peaceful corner of Marehay. It is a quiet home with stables and horses. The room overlooks countryside, has an extremely comfortable King sized bed, free WiFi, Smart TV and facilities to make endless coffee, tea or hot chocolate. There is a spacious, shared ( just with me) bathroom with separate shower. Towels and shower gel are provided. There is a private garden which guests are very welcome to sit in to relax if the weather is inviting . There is ample parking space here.
Marehay is a former mining community and one mile from Ripley. We are 10 miles from Derby ( (30minutes), 20 miles from Nottingham (40 minutes), 10 miles from Matlock (21 minutes) and 2.5 miles from Swanwick and a five minute drive to The Hayes Conference Centre. There is a pub, The Village Inn, which is a two minute walk and which serves food in the evening.

  • The Dairy is a lovely, clean and cosy cottage, perfect for our birthday celebration. We found the place easily and only wished the weather could have been better so that we could have explored the surrounds a bit. We would not hesitate to recommend the whole site to anyone who wants a peaceful and pleasant break (especially if you have children; we didn't, but wished we had some with us as the farm, playground and animals looked very exciting)

    Lauren2019-09-15T00:00:00Z

    Lucy2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cosy cottage exactly as described. A great place for a relaxing stay - the grounds and farm are perfectly suited for younger children. Would stay again.

    Alex2019-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very clean and has all the amenities you would expect including washing machine and a dishwasher. It is in a fantastic location on a farm, which the kids loved visiting the animals. It has a really good sized play area with swings and a playhouse. It was ideally situated close to Matlock which is what we needed for visiting Heights of Abraham and Gullivers Kingdom. The check in was nice and simple with keys left in the property and a nice touch of an complimentary BBQ box as the flying Scotsman was going past. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and may be back in future.

    David2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • A very beautiful and cosy cottage that was sparkling clean. Such lovely facilities for the children - even our older children loved the park and the farm tour with Vic. What a lovely friendly man. A few fantastic days, definitely coming back x

  • We had a very relaxing stay at Ford Farm. Sarah was a great host and the location is beautiful. If you want to spend a few days escaping from reality this is the perfect location to do so. Lots to do nearby and beautiful walks on your doorstep.

  • We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay. The location, with a nice outlook over the Ogston Reservoir, and the accommodation, turned out to be more or less perfect for a couple looking for a quiet break. The approach road is as described - narrow with numerous potholes - but the locals seem to be friendly and cautious. There is plenty of parking available when you get there. Two people will find the place very comfortable - three would need to be good friends, since access to the toilet and shower room is via the bedroom. Sarah was very friendly and efficient.

  • Julie is a very friendly and helpful host and she keeps an immaculate house, at a very competitive rate. The decor is superb throughout, and we enjoyed meeting her sweet cat and dog also. The guest bedroom is very comfortable, with a bathroom next door to it for guest use only (containing a great high-tech shower). We will definitely stay with Julie again when we want a break in the Derby area.

Newly renovated cottage in the pretty village of Nether Heage, over looking the grade 2 listed Heage windmill and just a 6 minute drive from the vibrant town of Belper.
Heage Windmill Built in 1797 and restored in 2002, Heage Windmill is a Grade II* listed building, the only working six-sailed stone tower windmill in England. She is set in the Derbyshire countryside, providing spectacular views towards the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. Car parking is available on site. Visitors can go on tours with guides normally in costume. There is also an Interpretation Centre and a shop selling souvenirs, light refreshments and the windmill’s own flour. Groups are welcome by prior arrangement. Look out for special events throughout the year.
  • We really enjoyed our stay in this little cottage. We used it for a trip to the Peak District and although the weather wasn’t the best, this was a great place to come back to a cosy up in front of the wood burner. John’s communication was excellent throughout, easy check in and it’s in a great location with some stunning views and local pubs. The cottage has great facilities including a washing machine and dish washer which I wasn’t expecting :-) Overall, fantastic value and will be staying again.

  • Windmill cottage was a great base for the week to explore the Peak District. Everything was tip top, I loved the kitchen, really nice to cook in, the bathroom was really nice, a good way to start the day and the wood burner was great on those days which weren't brilliant, to relax in the warm and go and explore the local windmill.

Our cottage is situated directly on the Five Pits Trail, which provides miles of trails for walkers, bike and horse riders, there are also fishing ponds 500m along the trail. It's a beautiful character cottage newly renovated to a high standard. It is ideally situated, with Hardwick Hall 5 minutes drive away and the Peak District on our doorstep. Matlock, Crich Tramway Village, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall within half an hour. We also have a hottub for you to relax in at the end of your day.
We are also close to the Nottinghamshire border and all the attractions associated with Robin Hood. Newstead Abbey, Wollaton Hall and Nottingham Castle are only half an hour away in the opposite direction to the Peak District.
The cottage is ideally situated in the centre of the village with shops, pubs and a post office all within easy walking distance. There are also fishing ponds and a park 500 metres from the cottage There are several good restaurants all within a 10 minute drive.
  • This cottage is a home from home. It's ideally placed for walking, and cycling the 5 pits trail, which is literally at the side of the cottage. Tibshelf is nicely placed giving access to lots of other areas to explore too. We had a shopping trip on the way home at the East Midlands designer outlet, which is a 10 minute drive away. We also had a trip to Bakewell, which was only 40 minutes away. You don't have to go anywhere if you don't want to, as there are plenty of trails to discover. A large co-op supermarket too to resupply if needed. Jennie gave us lots of good tips, and was there if we needed anything at all. The hot tub was the icing on the cake, which we used daily. Thanks for a great stay Jennie.

  • Jennie was very helpful with all aspects of this booking. The house is very clean, modern and situated in a great spot for local shops and cycle routes. The kitchen was immaculate and had a warm feel about it and the wood burner added an extra touch at night. The kids loved the hot tub and was a great way to relax after a busy day out. I could write so many good things but please book and see for yourself. Will def look at dates to book again. Thank you

  • Great cottage! Myself, my husband and our toddler stayed for 3 nights for a winter break! Was great to be able to explore the Peak District from the cottage, we went for lovely walks, went to Chatsworth which was stunning all dressed up for Christmas, we ate at the local pubs which were recommended by Jennie! And we loved the hot tub! Warm and very comfortable cottage, comfy beds! Would def recommend x

  • Our second stay in this property and loved it as much as the first time! The log burning stove, the hot tub, the underfloor heating, the comfy beds and beautifully decorated/furnished throughout makes this place hard to beat! Jennie was quick to respond to any questions we had and also provided great local info especially on the best local places to eat, takeaways and walks.

The accommodation comprises two circa 18c cottages with many original features a short distance from the centre of the picturesque village of Crich with all the key amenities you might need. The cottage looks onto a cottage garden with off the road parking, seating and BBQ.
Crich is an historic village famous for it community activities and the tram museum. The cottage is close to the village centre and all essetial amenities. This 4 room property has additional toilets on the first floor and toilet and shower room on the ground floor. As you can see from the pictures it has many historic features and the under floor heating very effectively keeps it warm complimented by the glow of the log burner. The South facing aspect onto the cottage garden provides a great place to relax in the sun and BBQ on a summers evening.
The village community is great and although small has retained its heart with a wide range of amenities. These include a butcher and a great baker (the loaf), but I must admit the candle stick maker has had to close! There is also a wide range of places to eat out. A short walk from the cottage takes you to views over the Derwent valley world heritage site and many walk options including the Cromford canal which you can also cycle through to the historic Arkwright mills and the tourist scene of Matlock Bath.
  • Great location at the centre of Crich with good local cafe, butcher, local shop and post office. Place is nice and cosy with under floor heating and wood stove. Well equiped kitchen and nice homely feel. Would stay there again.

  • We spent a January weekend in Wayside Cottage. Very comfortable, cosy and warm and exceptionally clean. The local pub has a good menu and the butcher was high quality. We didnt get to try the fish and chips....maybe next time. We do hope to be back sometime.
