I've always been drawn to the images of the Native Hawaiian Kauhale (Hawaiian Village). With the Kalo patches, the bananas, the placement of ulu and coconut tress. It all just communicated a feeling of health and vitality where the land and it's people were in harmony. This vision is my guiding light as I cultivate this space. Our slice of paradise sits on 1 acre of manicured tropical orchard with over 40 varieties of fruit trees, a giant stand of bamboo, hundreds of orchids and herbs. Newly constructed unattached studio cottage with canopy queen size bed and super comfortable full size futon. Indoor bath with shower and outdoor bamboo shower. Brand new kitchen and an adorable lanai for enjoying the panoramic view of sunset or morning coffee. Our teak swing above the cottage offers a horizon view of the ocean.

Large studio unit attached to our family home in HPP, a rural subdivision in Puna on Hawai‘i Island. 20 min from Hilo Int'l Airport & 40 min from Volcanoes NP. We have 2 large rescue dogs, Jack & Boogie, and a big blind pig, Lilo. They bark/chuff and will be excited to meet you. If you aren't comfortable around large dogs and a blind pig this is not the place for you. We also have many cats, unintentional coqui frogs, and our neighbor has goats. Animal noises are part of this rural space.

Charming Rainforest Cottage

Surrounded by orchids and other tropical flowers, the cottage is located on two lovely landscaped acres - 30 minutes from Hilo or Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The property is solar powered, an off-grid sustainable system with 4G phone service and fiber optic wifi. The last two miles are on unpaved gravel road in variable condition depending upon how much rain we've had lately. Four wheel drive isn't necessary but an SUV or similar vehicle with higher clearance is recommended.

We are hosting a Quiet Hawaiian Oasis, less then 15 min from Hilo, Hilo airport and 15 min from the earthy hippie town of Pahoa. Our Ohana has easy access to main road but far enough away to be in complete silence and zero light pollution. The studio is separate from main house with a kitchenette, full bathroom with tub and central air conditioning. If your looking for great beaches, waterfalls, and hikes through the rainforest and botanical gardens, look no further.

Old School Hospitality

This spacious ground-floor apartment can sleep four very comfortably. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom, living room, dining area, an indoor waterfall, and stocked kitchen, There is a beautiful lanai that overlooks a large koi pond and spacious, manicured grounds. We call the property Old School Hospitality because it was built from recycled materials from the old Hakalau School. Much of the house's charm comes from the unique materials used in construction.

(REF TAX ID TA005-218-0480-01) Enjoy time in a small (384 sq ft) self-contained guest shack with full kitchen in a rural setting. If you don't find the sound of coqui frogs at night obtrusive to your sleep, then this space would be suitable. While you will have privacy, my dad stays in the main house in case you need assistance in person. We are located at about 100 foot of elevation which provides for relatively cooler nights.
