A perfect place for a romantic getaway, writer's retreat, bird watching haven or viewing the Milky Way! Enjoy our cozy cottage's pine floors, cathedral ceiling, porch overlooking a tranquil meadow, apple & cypress trees and view of the Foothills.
Bluebird Cottage’s interior offers a unique and soulful space, with lovely natural light and handcrafted furniture. Start your mornings with our homemade organic bread or muffins and tea/coffee. Stroll the ridge above the cottage, following the local irrigation trail, and converse with the resident great horned owls in the tall pines. Visitors delight in discovering the award winning olive oils from the Oregon House/Loma Rica area and visiting the many local wineries. Oregon House is a gateway to many historic Sierra Nevada towns – less than an hour from Nevada City and a beautiful two-hour drive to Lake Tahoe. We're less than a half hour from beautiful swimming spots at the South Yuba River and 10 minutes from Lake Francis or Collins Lake. If you feel like relaxing and staying cozy, enjoy the porch, hammock swing and wifi.
Bluebird Cottage is at 1600' elevation on a quiet country road, above the fog and below the snow with clean air and seasonal wildlife to watch, including many bluebirds, hawks, owls, and deer. We're a half an hour from beautiful Yuba River swimming holes, ten minutes from Lake Francis and Collins Lake, with hikes close by also, 45 minutes from Grass Valley and Nevada City. Oregon House, although a small town, has a wonderful restaurant with a Mediterranean flare, Cafe Collage, open for dinner four nights a week, for fine dining or pizza. The Willow Glen Restaurant & Bar is a country place with burgers, fries, steaks, etc. - not fancy but open for dinner 7 days a week, with full hours on the weekend. Oregon House also has a local grocery and deli, hardware store, and several resale shops.
  • If you're looking for a quiet getaway, this charming cottage is perfect. The home made muffins and bread, the well-stocked library, and lots of comfy nooks make this a cozy and welcoming place to stay. Mark and Jo Anna are lovely, and their local recommendations were all stellar.

  • The apartment was very clean, and as described, be careful of the stairs they are a little quirky. My daughter and I enjoyed our stay, check in and check out was a breeze. Natasha was very quick to respond to my questions and even allowed me to check in a little early, which was much appreciated. The property is located in a very peaceful, serene location!

The short version? You'll love it! Come with high expectations, you are in for a treat! The Bamboo Cottage has just been renovated: if you have been here before, brace yourself for the amazing transformation; if this is your first visit, we can guarantee that you are going to love it. What a delightful getaway! Romantic, relaxing, energizing. The cottage has now AC, ready for those hot summer days.
Our lovely independent cottage has a private entrance and its own garden lawn and patio. We have just added some living space: a larger kitchen area with induction single burner cooktop, electric kettle, microwave, toaster oven… everything you need for basic cooking. Lovely sitting area (those chairs are so comfortable!), bright dining area where you can also do craft projects, play cards, have tea... We named it Bamboo Cottage believing that once you name things, they become more alive and vibrant… There’s Heavenly Bamboo planted outside and the Asian theme for the décor is intended to create a spiritual atmosphere, inviting relaxation and mindfulness. The outdoor area has a bistro table for dining or working, comfortable bamboo chairs for reading or having a conversation over a glass of wine and a freestanding 2-person hammock for forgetting about everything… All the essentials are provided and if you need anything, just let us know and we will do our best to bring it to you. Special treats? We have a long list for you to choose from: award winning wines, locally made organic bread, fresh every Saturday noon, French pastries (Thursday through Sunday), professional massages, yoga classes… we’re happy to act the role of friendly, informed concierge and book/arrange whatever experience you would like. A local chef will deliver meals (yummy!) if you want, just ask for email menu. The area is chock-full of resources: from wineries making great wines, beekeepers producing fragrant honey, olive oil mills, lakes to swim in, trails to hike… Nevada City, a charming gold-mining town, is just 45 minutes away and if you go the ‘back road’, you’ll see amazing scenery, driving by the Bullards Bar Reservoir and meeting the famous Route 49. For a real outing, you can explore Downieville (dive into the Gold Rush history) and the lovely lakes (Sardine Lake, Salmon Lake, Gold lake) where you can swim or hike forever…
Oregon House is at about 1500' elevation, just above the fog and below the snow. Properties are generally private because most of them are a minimum of 5 acres. It’s quiet and very safe, the speed limit on the ‘main road’ is 35 mph. There is a surprisingly interesting grocery and deli store very close to us where you can find more than you would expect. In the same location you can buy gas for your car. 'Downtown', just about 1 mile away, is a truly exceptional Mediterranean restaurant (Café Collage) which is open for dinner Fri-Sun. There are no other shops nearby. The closest city is Marysville/Yuba City (about 25 miles). For specific questions, please contact us!
  • Great spot. Everything you need all fit into a studio space. Great private yard that was wonderful to relax in after work.

  • Beautiful place and easy hosts to communicate with!

    Ryan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Easy to find.

    Jessica2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Such a perfect spot. Clean, well furnished, warm, peaceful. It's perfect for me as a traveling worker, but would be amazing for a couple too. The personal backyard is a nice touch as well. Highly recommend! Thanks Elisabetta & Julian!

    Tony2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Their home was so nice. It was exactly as described and while we didn't have a lot of time to talk with the hosts, we appreciate their effort in making a clean and cosy abode.

    Forrest2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • AMAZING. Honestly, we will be back. Everything was perfect. For the price- it was even more than what we could have asked for. A perfect spot to come back to after a hike at feather falls. Dinner down the street at cafe collage was amazing too! We will be back to stay at the bamboo cottage ❤️

    Shannon2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay here! The space was spotless, and super cute and cozy. Elisabetta and Julian left a binder full of things to do in the area, and we ended up checking out Collins Lake on their recommendation! The hammock outside was super comfortable. Would absolutely love to come back here again, perfect place to unplug and relax.

    Karina2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing experience! The views outside and the property are absolutely breathtaking, and the cottage itself is so cozy and comfortable! French press coffee pot and tea for cold nights and mornings, plenty of windows to sit inside and enjoy the scenery, just an all around perfect experience, thank you both so much for having us!

This private space features a two-room apartment (a bedroom and a living/dining room), a full bathroom, kitchenette, and a patio open to an oak meadow. The bedroom has a comfortable queen-size memory form bed and a nice view of the waterfall and garden where the hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees are abundant. Come to enjoy the calm tranquility of the countryside and listen to palm trees rustling. You are sure to have a restful night after a day of adventures!
We offer a two-room guest suite (can host 2-4 people) comfortably nestled in the countryside on three acres with a private vineyard, seasonal creek, and garden. The guest suite is your private space with its own entrance, a patio, and a walkway from the shaded parking lot. This property has solar panels that produce nearly 100% of the electricity used to reach the goal of reducing the carbon footprint. Plus, the water from our well has been filtered by a whole-house system.
What you will find in our Sierra Foothills community? Local landmarks include Collins Lake, which offers gift shops, ice cream, water sports, and fishing. Nearby, Bullard’s Bar offers stunning birds-eye views from its 645-foot high dam; Lake Francis, great for swimming and natural beauty. Moreover, Yuba River is nearby and offers world-class kayaking opportunities, as well as incredible bathing, hiking, and gold-mining possibilities. The new Yuba Rim Trail (Rice’s Crossing Preserve) is only 15 minutes drive away. Enjoy the 2.25-mile hike on Yuba Rim Trail out to the scenic overlook and back. Identify birds and other wildlife. Picnic in the meadow. Take photos of the river canyon. For more info, see https://www.bylt.org/trail/yuba-rim-trail/ Weddings? Check out Willow Creek Events at 6841 Marysville Rd, Browns Valley, CA. Our recommendation for food is the local restaurant Cafe Collage, featuring a pleasant atmosphere and quality Mediterranean cuisine. If you enjoy pizza, definitely go to Pizza Roundup in Loma Rica. For bar and American food, Willow Glen restaurant will do the trick. For Mexican restaurant, we heard many good things about El Charitos Mexican Deli restaurant. Mountain Eats at Lake Francis Resort is new but good too. For other restaurants and more details, check out Yelp: https://www.yelp.com/search?cflt=restaurants&find_loc=Loma+Rica%2C+CA Bon Appétit!

Orchard and 100-year old olive trees. Private gated entrance and 2-acre property fully fenced. Locally made fresh croissants. Cafe Collage is 1/4 mile away so you can enjoy one of the best dining experiences in Yuba County on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
For the creative writer or artist, this cottage has a very special creative energy. We have experienced it ourselves and are excited to share this experience with our guests. In terms of meals, you can dine at our cafe or we can create an intimate dinner for 2, a gathering for 6 or 8, a cooking class and multi-course meal, or a spa weekend. We can create a wine tasting weekend with food and wine pairings with opportunities to meet local wine makers. We can create an olive oil tasting weekend during the olive harvest where you can taste the oil as it is produced. We can create a company retreat for meetings, dining, and team building.
The cottage is 1/4 mile from Cafe Collage, our local Mediterranean restaurant, which, for 18 years, has served the immediate community and customers from Oroville, Chico, Grass Valley, Marysville, and Yuba City. Cafe Collage serves dinner Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. Our neighbors include Gideon and Saron at Clos Saron, Grant & Marie Winery, Renaissance Vineyard & Winery, and Apollo Olive Oil.
  • It was raining pretty badly at the time driving to the airbnb but Salim was very good overall with communication. Gave us a brief tour of the house and showed us everything. He owns his restaurant named "Cafe Collage", and it's very good. I recommend everyone eating at his well established restaurant. He went out of his way to give me and my girlfriend fresh croissants in the morning and we really appreciated that a lot. His airbnb was an amazing experience. There is a local market near his restaurant, that's very convenient for buying groceries if you decide to cook food at the airbnb. Everything about the trip was well worth and will definitely come back again for sure. Thank you Salim! 🙂

  • This is the perfect little cottage for a staycation for two! The drive there is gorgeous and Salim was there waiting to check us in and give us a tour when we arrived. The cottage itself is sparkling clean, comfortable and really tastefully decorated and the surrounding woods are relaxing and quiet. Salim brought us some yummy pasties in the morning! I would highly recommend asking Salim to do a brunch cooking lesson for you and to also go for dinner at his restaurant down the street. It’s delicious!

    Leonna2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent, stylish, comfy, light and bright house! The kitchen was well appointed and had all your basic needs. I would definitely stay again when in the area.

  • This Airbnb should be listed in a different column than most. They offer a highly personalized and special stay. Options for in-house chef, high end prepared meals thru his restaurant, and a great mid-century feel. Everything down to readying material in the home was spot on. Great for a romantic weekend, or a family get together - this stay was an A+++ Airbnb experience. Who’d of known?!

  • We came up for a vineyard planting weekend nearby and stumbled upon this gem in Oregon House. The location is perfect for us. The interior is exquisitely decorated from a chef's perspective and Anne & Salim's personal travel collections. We didn't have much time to enjoy the studio but it clearly more than satisfied our needs. The pastries were an added bonus :).

  • A thoroughly delightful stay! Lovely & thoughtfully designed - Homemade, delicious pastries delivered in the morning. We loved being so close to the owner’s restaurant with its amazing food! Warm, hospitable hosts make this a perfect Airbnb choice!

  • A sweet and comfortable cottage--very enjoyable!

    Janet2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was an experience exceeding expectations. I never imagined finding for that price a room that looked like a fairy tale. Highly recommended

    Elisa2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were wonderful! Very welcoming and responsive. Eat at their restaurant, too. You won’t be disappointed. They had great advice for things to do in the area as well.

    Eva2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a fantastic place! It was a beautiful area and wonderful accommodations. Both Anne and Salim were wonderful hosts and very thoughtful. I had a very late check in and Anne turned both the inside and outside lights on so I wouldn't be coming home in the dark. The next morning Salim brought me a delicious croissant for breakfast! What a treat! It's a beautiful place where you can see the stars and enjoy peace and quiet.

    Frances2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a great find. We would love to stay here again if able. There were a pair of deer that came up to the property to greet us after we checked in. Salim was super friendly and very professional. He even brought us pastries in the morning from his restaraunt! Plenty of storage space for our personal items. A wonderful, fully decked out kitchen, comfy bed, and a beautiful patio with a great view of the trees for morning yoga and cup of tea. Only negative is the thin stand up shower. A little difficult to manuver in. Overall, great experience! Definitely recommend.

    Guillermo2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • The space is actually more spacious than you'd think looking at the pictures. It's perfect to rest and recharge. The pastries delivered in the morning are delicious!

Enchanting farm & home on 15 acres with a swimming pool, lots of llamas, colorful goats and friendly dogs & cats. 🐕🦙🐐 The house is surrounded by green lawns and lush English country style gardens. A year-round creek runs through the property and is accessible to explore. Wonderland for animal & nature loving adults & kids. We are close to the Sierra Buttes, the Yuba River & the Tahoe region. Room has its own private entrance and views the pool & gardens. Coffee, tea, snacks & fresh flowers 🌺
Guests can use the pool ( at their own risk), walk around the gardens, relax on the lawn, visit the animals and explore the creek. There are lots of outdoor sitting areas. If you like birds, bring your binoculars with you. It’s a bird’s haven! The room is spacious and full of light. It has a double door that opens to a small private patio with table and chairs. The Bathroom is adjacent and is shared with my 25 years old son who is very quiet and respectful of guests . An extra single floor mattress and beddings are available if needed. Kids are welcome!
We are very close to some beautiful get-away nature walks and swimming holes. Bullards Bar dam is 15 minutes away. Nevada City and Grass Valley are 45 minutes away. The Sierras and the Tahoe region are less than 2 hours away. There are several wineries near by that offer wine tastings by appointment and we have a fancy local restaurant that serves dinners on the weekend. Apollo Olive oil is nearby and they offer a tour of their facility along with Olive Oil tasting (by appointment). I also own a local books, gifts and antiques store called “Mosaic”. The store is open daily from 1 to 4 and has wi-fi, coffee and tea. For other local events check this website: https://visityubasutter.com/
  • My 6 year old daughter and I decided to have a little adventure to the llama farm and we are so glad we did! The location is beautiful, the gardens are full of daisies and daffodils and the llamas are very friendly. We roamed around and my daughter fell in love with Khaleesi, one of the dogs that patrol the farm. She woke up in the morning singing "this is the best day of my life". Sarah is very kind and sweet and we felt very at ease in her home. She is a llama expert, and her house is filled with gorgeous antiques. She left us lots of treats, coffee, tea and fresh fruit to snack on. We had a wonderful night away, and we'll definitely return again.

  • Perfect stay for local workshop I was participating in.

    Jessica2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's one-of-a-kind place had everything my husband and I needed for a quick visit to the area. Oregon House is just over an hour from our home in Cameron Park, but it feels as though it's in another country. The breathtaking and peaceful surroundings allowed us to clear our minds of clutter and plan for the next phase in our lives. The hospitality Sarah provided was outstanding and we had everything we needed. We were greeted with coffee, tea, biscuits, and a sinful chocolate cake. Sarah recommended many things to see and do in the area, including her delightful store, Mosaic. We woke up to a beautiful view out our bedroom window with friendly llamas saying good morning. I would highly recommend Sarah's place for anyone who wants to get to know the area.

    Alisa2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah has a wonderful place in Oregon house. There are flowers along the driveway, llamas and other animals to greet you, and a stylish place with extra touch of amenities! I love that she was so welcoming as where the llamas!

    Ben2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah & her place are wonderful! She has very well behaved dogs & I can't wait to come back to see the lamas!

  • Amazing place!!!!!

    Sajani2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I needed a place to crash in the area and I don’t think we could’ve chosen better. Sarah was warm, welcoming and super accommodating (including bringing in a futon mattress to the room so we had two beds, and sharing fresh-baked muffins with us in the morning). Everything was clean and cozy and we got a great nights sleep. The llamas were fun to go say hi to and the dogs and cat were very friendly. It was also just a really beautiful property. Wish I could’ve stayed longer just to relax, explore, visit with Sarah and do some reading and writing. Will be back!

    Jennifer2019-12-15T00:00:00Z

  • This was my first time using Air BnB and i am beyond impressed. Sara’s tiny home was the perfect place to take a breath and recharge! The surroundings are so beautiful, and the house is super cozy. Everything from check in to check out was super clear and easy.

  • Cute, cozy place and we will be back. Quiet location with running creek and nature noises.

    Rochelle2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • We needed a last minute accommodation and Sara came to the rescue! She was ready for us in the time we needed and we had a wonderful, private time. We were not bothered at all and the house was visible from the front door but up on the hill far away between trees. She even left us a treat! It is definitely a tiny shabby chic place, but it did the trick and we had a wonderful experience in the creek. Saw a river otter!

Hello! This cozy Rough & Ready cabin is the perfect place for those looking for a quiet, rustic retreat. There are two bedrooms, one bathroom, and optional use of a fold out futon and air mattress beds. Enjoy full deck views of deer creek canyon, a hot tub, farm critters and starry skies.
Open floor plan and large deck for outdoor relaxation. First bedroom has a cal king bed, the second a full size bed and small desk. The living room futon can be used as an additional bed, as well as 2 available blow up mattresses (full and twin), with some extra bedding provided. Closet and dresser space is not available for use, but there is a garment rack and hangers. The house is located down a two mile dirt road, and up steep driveway- all cars have been able to make it up just fine. Please keep an open mind to the unavoidable circumstances of country living- spiders, dust, etc. This is a dog home, so not the best place for those that are very allergic. There are also cats on the property, but they are not indoor. There is a second house on the property (to the left of driveway) that will be occupied.
Rough & Ready is a 15 minute drive to historic downtown Grass Valley, and about 20 minutes to Nevada City. Located in Deer Creek Canyon, the creek can be heard at night, along with crickets, frogs, owls and other wildlife.
  • This place is a GEM. Nothing like waking up to the incredible views, fresh air and pure bliss this place has to offer. The house is beautiful and the animals are the cutest. Truly the perfect getaway for a relaxing stay. This was our second time back and we home to come again and again. Thanks so much Hannah!

  • Charming and cozy farmhouse near Nevada City and Grass Valley. Nice kitchen and bedrooms, beautiful views from the back deck, and great little touches / attention to detail as well. Close to Yuba River rafting, Nevada City shopping and dining, and several amazing hikes.

  • Look no further! There is no need to double think this Airbnb!! :) Cozy, convenient, beautiful, relaxing, fun, and everything you would wish for in a glam-rustic-romantic getaway!! My husband and I chose this home as our last hoorah before baby Comes in 4 more weeks, some would call our “babymoon” . Eggs, and non alcoholic sparking apple peach cider (PERFECT) upon our arrival, along with a very easy to read guide for the home and nearby neighborhoods we cooked the whole time and ate all the eggs for breakfast and dinner both days. At night we were able to talk from couch to kitchen because of the great big open floor plan. After dinner we laid down the futon and watched movies while the wood burning stove was going 💖 there was no need for tv the entire rest of the time. In the morning I soaked my pregger self in the hot tub easily over an hour and listened to the birds and took in all the views while hub made breakfast:) The dogs, chickens, and goats on sight were very welcoming and got along very well with our puppers! Host, Hannah replies to everything in such a quick manner, very sweet and helpful! Landlord on sight made us feel like family and completely made our last day there! Thank you again Hannah and Wren!! We will be back with baby Lincoln no doubt!!!

  • My wife and I came here looking for some r&r--it was perfect! We spent hours moving between the sunny deck and the cozy living room, reading, napping and enjoying the peace and quiet. Wren was a super responsive and helpful host--she gave us plenty of space and was also full of recommendations and generosity when we reached out. The photos on this listing capture the vibe of the space quite well--it is definitely someone's home with all the personality, homeyness and condiments that includes!

    Roche2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a unique & awesome place. Highly recommend. If you are looking for a great escape from the loud and bustling world, this is your spot. There is a steep driveway (which Hannah will warn you about) but my compact, economy vehicle easily made it up. Expect a long winding drive down a dirt road to get there (part of the fun!). There are goats, chickens, dogs, hummingbirds. Perfection! Everything on the farm has a calmness that will certainly rub off on you. During our stay, we would head out early in the day and visit the nearby Yuba swimming holes. Most swimming spots were about 20-40 minutes away. After a long day of hiking & swimming, we would return to grill up a feast, And then end our day by lounging on the outdoor bed while soaking in the spectacular views. book this spot, you won't be disappointed!!

  • We had a wonderful weekend up at the Cabin. Wren was very kind and helpful throughout the stay. The place is charming and very inviting. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. Didn't get to use the hot tub and looking forward to using it next time! The dogs enjoyed the place too, and got to play with the sheep, pigs and other dogs on property.

  • We pulled up around 6 PM and were kindly greeted by Wrens Hens, a lovely bunch of ladies! After we cooked dinner in our fully stocked kitchen, we had an opportunity to feed the goats some carrots and collect some eggs before sun set. Wren also showed us the best blackberry picking sites on the property! Afterwards we enjoyed twilight from the hot tub! What a dreamy evening! The house was beautiful, with the sweetest touches! Plenty of places to lounge, indoor and out! WiFi and Netflix. Cozy beds, lots of towels, and a nice clean bathroom! It was the perfect escape from reality! We took a day trip to the Yuba River, Hannah had lots of suggestions and gave us great directions! Thank you Hannah and Wren for making us feel right at home! We will be back!! Sincerely, Megan, Kim and Casey

  • We had the best time! The house is so cute and cozy. The large deck and view are incredible and loved the hot tub! Wren was so pleasant and sweet and helped us with all our needs. Highly recommend.

Breathe the crisp, clear air of our woodsy property. Enjoy being below the snow line, but within a short ride to 12 Alpine and 3 Nordic Tahoe/Reno ski resorts (between 56 to 96 miles away). Soak in the hot tub under the stars at night and access our year round creek, just a short, but mildly challenging walk during the day. There are several rustic trails along this parcel as well. Guests can fall asleep with the sights and sounds of water from the creek and a waterfall across our canyon
You are welcomed to a newly constructed, 500 sq. ft., open floorplan apartment separate from our living space and with your own outside entrance. You will have private access to a kitchenette equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, dining/living area (with futon), full bath, and king-sized sleeping loft overlooking a private creekside beach. Your separate entrance leads to charming nature views as well as a guest deck with a gas barbeque and a shared hot tub available for your use. You will have NO common walls with our living space. We do not hear guests and they report they do not hear us. This space is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet and respite from urban life.
We are a 5 minute drive to a local shopping center with a super market, 12 restaurants, yogurt shop, bicycle shop, pharmacy and fitness club. It is a 18 minute drive into Grass Valley and 22 minutes to Nevada City.
  • Definitely would recommend staying here! The views are amazing. Very peaceful and the hosts are extremely nice. We will be visiting again.

  • The stay at Danny and Joanie's has been absolutely wonderful. First of all, communication was great even before the trip and of course, throughout the stay. They are just stellar hosts, so kind and accommodating. They welcomed us, provided a basket full of goodies, they shared all local tips about the places we couldn't miss and they were available for a nice chat and tour of the property whenever we wanted to. The studio is sparkling clean, elegantly decorated, very spacious and warm during winter time. Also, there is everything you might need during the stay. The creek in the property is beautiful and there are all sorts of beautiful places to see at a short driving distance. Lastly, the shared hot tub is a nice addition to end a day! Definitely recommend their place and will definitely be back in the summer.

    Giulia2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy and comfy! Beautiful surroundings and world-class hosts.

    Alison2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • We were very comfortable during our 5 night stay at Danny’s place. There were thoughtful extras left for us; a “welcome basket” of snacks, coffee & tea, and a notebook with area activities and hikes. The location is conviently located about 5 mins from the market and restaurants, yet secluded. We would suggest you arrive before dark just to familiarize yourself with the roads. There are road reflectors and the drive way is smoothly paved but it does switch back and forth. We would recommend staying here to friends and would stay here again. Thank you to our hosts!

    Kelly2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start? I guess what makes the place so so special include the 30 arces of private property (a creek and swim hole included!), plenty of hiking routes to explore (Danny has thoughtfully prepared walkie-talkie for the more adventurous guests), amazing room, and a viewing deck/ hot tub that overlook the astonishing valley view behind the house. On top of that Danny and Joanie are one of the best hosts I’ve had the pleasure to meet on airbnb. They were quick to respond my booking inquiries and went all the way to make sure I was happy with my stay ( and of course I DID). I honestly think this beautiful place is as good as it gets for people like me who seek a mini get away from busy urban life, and have a peaceful time with nature. Again thank you so much Danny&Joanie for sharing this magical place with the rest of the world. I will surely be returning:) Cheers, Cheng

  • The property is really stunning with private access to a gorgeous river, big porch, hot tub under the stars, and more. Danny and hosts are extremely thoughtful and kind. They were available for any needs but gave us all the space and privacy we sought. Only draw backs are minimal kitchen space and low ceilings in the A frame. We are definitely coming back though since we spent most of our time outside and on the deck.

    Grant2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing, from the view from the hot tub looking over the beautiful green mountains to the clear water down in the creek. Definitely give this place a visit, I know Joanie and Danny would love your visit and welcome you with open arms.

  • My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights here. It is such a wonderful place if you are looking for a private getaway in the nature. We loved swimming in the private swimming hole at the creek, hot tubbing under the starts at night, BBQ'ing on the deck with a breathtaking view of the sunset. The hosts are very responsive and always trying to help. I would stay at Danny's place again.

  • Overall speaking, a fantastic place to go if you are looking for somewhere quiet and off the grid. Very large patio with all kinds of chairs and tables to enjoy the sunset. All rooms are decorated with fancy adornments and sculptures. Definitely quiet all the time. The loudest sound we heard perhaps was what came from the creek. Good view out of the window and totally different between day and night. Close to South Yuba stare park if you want to go outside. Not to mention Danny and Joanie have prepared a full set of guide. They even marked levels of hiking trails! How thoughtful!

    Elizabeth2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Yet another wonderful stay at Danny and Joanie's incredibly peaceful spot in Penn Valley. This is a hidden gem for travelers looking to unwind from city living, families in pursuit of river fun and couples falling in love. The views of the valley from anywhere on the property are stunning, the hot tub under the stars is a must and the hike to the creek is pure Californian gold country vibe. All the while you're close enough to the Yuba to soak it up but far enough away from the racket to sleep like a babe! Danny and Joanie are fantastic super hosts and I'm literally counting the days till I can make another reservation! Enjoy!

The neighborhood is rural with homes and horse ranches on 2-10 acres of land.
  • This was my second stay at "Grandma's Room", hosted by Helen and Dominic and its great to find a location in this area where I can stay near my family and not have to drive 10's or 20 miles and pay double the price. It's pleasant and peaceful, as well as close to rivers, lakes, parks and trails.

    Shannon2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great rural location but not too far from town. 5 min to groceries, but nice and quite. Comfy bed, beautifully decorated.

    Shirley2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this place so much I have decided that it will no longer be referred to as “Grandma’s Room”, but “Joanie’s Room”. :p All kidding aside, what a WONDERFUL space. As soon as I opened the door I felt a big “ahhhh!”. The coziness the name of the room denotes is accurate and absolutely genuine. I loved all the amenities, comfortable bed, privacy. This is a true gem of a find-look NO further if you are looking for a place in this area. It is absolutely perfect. I could have happily stayed in the room and never left, during my stay.

  • We were looking for something in the country on our way between the Bay Area and Tahoe. Helen's place was perfect. It is off the beaten track but near Grass Valley and the South Yuba River. Helen met us on arrival and gave us cookies and information about the place. The front garden and seating area was wonderful with the water feature (including tiny little frogs!) and the views. The room is homey and comfortable. My husband really appreciated the comfortable chair and lamp for reading. I loved that Helen provided history and why the room is named Grandma's Room. What a lovely tribute to her mother. Would highly recommend to anyone.

    Patti2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Helens place is lovely- very cute, softest sheets you’ve ever slept on. She baked cookies and even brought one for my pup. The next morning she cane and said hello and had a very kind and warm demeanor. I think I found my new escape den from the city. I felt very comfortable there. Thank you Helen!

Custom 53ft Featherlite Trailer with hardwood floors. Only 15-minute drive to the Yuba River, 15 to Nevada City. Close to hiking, swimming, boating, and fun. The trailer features hardwood floors, cable tv, sleeps 4, microwave and refrigerator. We consider our trailer very special as Featherlite made only 12 of this model. They were originally made for Budweiser racing cars. Keep in mind this is a rural setting. We do our best to keep our trailer very clean but we live alongside nature.
Because Nevada County hosts so many wonderful events, we hope we will be able to offer great accommadations here in the Sierra Foothills at our beautiful little ranch.
  • Very large trailer, towels and other basics provided. Large deck, very private and nice place to relax. Purified water dispenser provided. Hot shower and functional kitchen.. no hot plate or range. Top shelf of fridge freezes things so maybe put delicate produce in lower part. Lots of land with trails to explore. Overall very enjoyable stay full of hiking, and swimming in the beautiful Yuba River.

  • J & J were exceptional hosts! Great communication, so welcoming, and very helpful. The trailer is nicer than I though it would be-- comfortable, well kept, and really clean. The property is gorgeous. Great view of the stars at night and beautiful views to wake up to in the mornings. If you are checking out Nevada City and the Yuba River, it's a quick easy drive to both, with the added benefit of being able to retreat to the more secluded Penn Valley. Great value for what you get. Would most definitely stay again!

There are wonderful trails and hikes close by that I can help you learn about. Fishing, boating and swimming are popular at Collin's Lake, Lake Francis or Englebright Reservoir. I highly recommend superb river swimming in the Yuba River and Oregon Creek under an hour away. The coolest choice with shady spots in summer. For Dining I highly recommend Cafe Collage for fine dining or pizza, and Yuba Harvest for Farm to Fork dinners, 1st & 3rd weekends, and lunch hour cafe, local wine & olive oil tastings, art work etc.. 'Sweet Diane' a local personal chef has a twice weekly menu to cook for you and deliver any day of the week. Clos Saron Winery – 8 minutes drive Cafe Collage restaurant – 10 minutes drive Yuba Harvest restaurant – 15 minutes drive Lake Francis – 15 minutes drive Great swimming spots in the Yuba River or shaded Oregon Creek is just 30 minutes drive. If you are in need of City Life, there are 2 small cities within 50 minutes, Nevada City and Grass Valley.
  • I have stayed at many, many Airbnbs, but this is by far THE BEST home I have stayed at, and I was completely floored at the beauty of this house and its surroundings. The place is exactly like the pictures (if not better). My friend and I enjoyed every moment. We admired the fully-stocked kitchen, enjoyed the amazing views, and played with Ebony and Honey (I bonded with Ebony a lot---he would jump onto my lap and purr while I gazed at the Milky Way!). Throughout our stay, I found myself feeling constantly thankful for Colette's generosity in opening up such a precious home. This is definitely not one of those Airbnbs that serve solely as an Airbnb with minimal amenities and Ikea furniture. You really feel like you are getting to know Colette and her taste in art, culture, literature, and interior decor in every room. Thank you again. I would come here again in a heartbeat. There is also an AMAZING restaurant minutes from this place. It really seemed like a magical institution, out in the place you'd least expect it---the food and service was far better than most restaurants in major cities.

  • We had such a wonderful time at Colette’s quaint cottage. The views are simply outstanding! We spent most of our time on the patio and enjoyed all our meals outside. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place to go! We woke early each morning to watch the magnificent sunrises, listen to the birds and savor the beauty! If you are thinking of exploring this part of California, don’t hesitate to book this place! Her kitties are so sweet as well!

    Dee2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Colette's home is a real charmer with a beautiful view. The pictures are true to what the space really is and even more lovely. We enjoyed sitting outside and sipping on wine while watching the sun go down. The beds were super comfy and the kitchen was large and spacious. We wished we could have stayed longer and will be sure to return when we go back to that area to see our dear friend that lives near by. Cheers!

  • Beautiful, quiet, restful space! Lovely collection of art and a kitchen worthy of making a lovely meal in.

    Joy2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous view, with a beautiful garden and overall lovely home!

    Sonya2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • An enchanting, warm, colorful home with beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, and spectacular views. It’s like a European country villa, somehow hidden in Northern California.

    Dave2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at the cottage! The view was amazing and the cottage was immaculate! The stars and moon at night seemed close enough to touch! The cats were friendly and fun!

    Carol Lyn2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • First off, the view did not disappoint - we could have sat on the veranda all day, every day, just enjoying that view. The selection of chairs and tables outside was a plus - everyone found something comfortable to relax in. Ebony and Honey were super sweet and affectionate and reminded us of our own cats back home. For animal lover, Colette's garden cats are a super sweet bonus in our opinion! The kitchen was great for cooking meals - we made breakfast, lunches, and dinners! Collete showed us all the kitchen equipment and spices so we had just what we needed. The rest of the house was gorgeous and met all our expectations. Felt like we were in the South of France. Thank you for a lovely stay Colette!

Located only 20 minutes from Nevada City and just off scenic State Highway 49, The Phoenix at Willow Springs is easy to find. No driving down unmarked dirt roads without cell service in the dark. Non-smokers only. The small air-conditioned cabin consists of a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and large back deck. Wifi along with other amenities. The front porch area includes space to store bikes, while the large back deck features a patio table and BBQ grill.
Our goal is to offer guests a unique and memorable experience. Willow Springs is 3.7 acres that has been a residential community and artist hub through the years, and continues to host various artists of all stripes. The good vibe continues! As a guest at The Phoenix, you will have the freedom to explore the property and discover it’s hidden jewels. Willow Springs strives to be a model for social, ecological, and economic sustainability, so exploring the property you’ll find a myriad of interesting aspects as we continue to evolve. Witness the landmark hand-built Cobb wall, catch the local artists at work at Molly's Artist Barn, peek into Ruby's Honey Circle Farms, a one acre organic garden, (and purchase locally grown produce), explore your creative side with a ceramics class at Four Winds Ceramic Studio, enjoy a workshop or Yoga Class at The Heart Center, a yoga/meditation/meeting space or make arrangements for one of many alternative healers to give you a treatment at the healing studio (equipped with a murphy bed as a single room rental). We invite you to put away your cell phone and enjoy the abundance of fruit trees, birds, and meditation areas while, at the same time, respecting the space of the residents and tenants. Wild critters live here as well, and if you are lucky you may get a glimpse of a shy fox or hear it bark during the night. Not-so-shy raccoons check here regularly during the night. And occasionally bears or mountain lions are seen or heard in the area as well. Birders will enjoy the diversity of species found here at various times, attracted to the mulberries and bird feeders, such as hummingbirds, finches, bluebirds, pigeons, towhees, waxwings, nuthatches, hawks, acorn woodpeckers, and around the beginning of March large flocks of Sandhill cranes are in flight overhead on their migration route. Enjoying a cup of coffee and listening to the birds off the deck in the morning is magical. As guests we invite you to participate in the events happening here. Stroll from your cabin down to the Yoga studio on a Sunday or Wednesday evening and join the all-level community yoga class. First timers are welcome and mats are provided. Open ceramics classes happen on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and most Saturdays the ceramics studio is open for sales. And with prior arrangements, we offer personal sessions with healing and massage therapists, ceramics classes, art classes, wine tours, or fresh garden produce during harvest season. Longer-term stays would be considered after a personal interview.
This area offers so much to make your vacation special in terms of events and places. Within 10-15 minutes, the Oregon Creek swimming area provides a refreshing plunge on a hot day or go south to the breathtaking waterway of the South Yuba River or go hiking and biking on one of many trails in the Tahoe National Forest. The picturesque downtowns of Nevada City and Grass Valley offer a "movie set experience" with plenty of restaurants and shops along the boardwalks. Here are some of our favorite places and things to do: Hiking and boating at Bullards Bar Resevior. Hiking and exploring Malokoff State Park. Swimming and picture taking at Yuba River State Park. Hiking and discovering old mining bridges at Independence Hiking Trail. Hiking and appreciating history at Bridgeport Covered Bridge. Attend a service at Ananda Village or attend their Tulip Festival in April. Attend the Sierra Storytelling Festival in July. Go wine tasting at Double Oak Winery. Shop at Mother Trucker’s organic market. Have a steak and baked potato at the famous Willow Steak House

  • What a great place! If you are looking for a charming, simple cabin then go no farther! Trish’s cabin is perfect for a couple in love, a little solitude on your own or an adventure! I plan to come again for sure! I can picture myself reading a book by the fire when it is cold and raining outside. If you come in the heat of summer, Oregon Creek Campground has an AMAZING swim hole. Try the burritos in town for breakfast, yum. Everything was comfy! Trish, thanks.

  • The Phoenix is a cute little cabin that met all basic needs. It’s a quiet space. Trish and Mark were great hosts-very accommodating and friendly. Trish even took the time to take my niece around the property and let her pick fruit to take home. I enjoyed my time staying here and hope to come back another time.

An adorable little air-conditioned cottage amidst oaks and pine trees, on a very quiet 4-acre homesite, sleeps 2 in a comfy Queen size bed. If you have a child, we can add a floor futon. You have your own private deck with shaded table and chairs. Main house with bathroom 30 feet away. 15 minutes from the Yuba River, downtown Grass Valley or Nevada City. Relax and cool off on hot Summer nights! Primarily available Spring & Summer weekends only.
CORONA VIRUS UPDATE 3/12: No infections here. Room is empty for 3-4 days between guests, and disinfected, so you can feel safe here from exposure. The bathroom & shower are in the main house, which is just across the driveway from the cottage. The cottage has a beautiful view of the forested property, and a shaded deck for relaxing on warm summer weekends. Our cottage is being fixed up and made available for the first time ever. Therefore, all of the photos here are current... and the landscaping around the cottage is recent. I will update photos as things bloom!
Our neighborhood is out in the woods, a mile down a gravel road. You can take walks on the roads, or just bask in the beauty of the property. 8 miles from either Grass Valley or Nevada City downtown.
  • This place is adorable, perfect getaway to the country. Greg makes sure you are comfortable!

    Michele2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Greg exceeded our expectations in accommodation. You can really tell he wants to go the extra mile to make sure his guests have a special stay. He serves you breakfast each morning by privately sliding a tray of goodies on to the porch at a time of your choosing, and would come by for a chat to make sure you had ideas for things to go out and see in beautiful Nevada city. We celebrated a great 5th year anniversary at this quaint little cottage!

  • Three Sister’s Ranch is beautiful and Rich is an excellent host, sharing the history of his place and Nevada County in general. I wish we could have stayed longer... such a lovely, private space upstairs for Airbnb guests... tons of games, books, and a comfy cozy space for enjoying a glass of wine. Rich makes a super delish “Red Eye” breakfast (super fruit smoothie included!!) I highly recommend feeding your soul by enjoying a nature walk around the property. A true treasure. A lovely place hosted by a lovely soul who truly enjoys giving. Thank you Rich (and Bebe). Looking forward to our next visit!

"Mountain Home" : A place of serenity and beauty... rest, play and rejuvenation. Are you feeling overextended? Burned out from work/life? Needing to get off the grid for some intentional downtime and quiet? Maybe focus on a passion project you’ve been wanting to work on or a refreshing weekend outdoors? Then THIS IS YOUR PLACE! Nestled in the Sierra Nevada Foothills on 3 acres of private property, Mountain Home offers you a home away from home with full amenities AND a secluded escape.
The house features a fully functional kitchen, living space, and beautiful sunroom that faces the backyard of the property. There are 2 bedrooms with queens bed (+ futon couch/full bed). There is also a loft with 2 twin beds. Amenities include a mineral hot tub, BBQ grill, trampoline with safety net, and a deck with lounge chairs overlooking the pond.
Challenge is a remote area in the foothills and, while there are smaller towns to explore nearby, the closest markets and gas stations are about 20 minutes away.
  • Sheerene’s place is adorable. It’s even cuter in person than in the pictures, and the pictures are pretty freaking cute. Her listing is very thorough and accurate. She was very responsive to questions and met us ahead of time to give us information about how to use the appliances in the house. I would definitely recommend her place.

    Jenny2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly peaceful getaway but still easily accessible. Home would be great for families or groups. Sheerene keeps the place inviting and comforting. Great place to unplug.

    Jeremiah2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sheerene's place is amazing! With so much history, antiquities and thoughtful modern touch, you can hardly find any place better than hers for a family getaway. Sheerene was at her house person to welcome us. She was down to every details from how to use the outdoor tub (which is amazing!), the antique gas stove, to the history of the place. We would definitely come back again!

    Charles Xiaoyuan2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to get away and relax. Rural and rustic. We decided to go into that neck of the woods to be close enough to our family for Christmas but also have a private sanctuary of our own. There is not much to do but connect with nature, relax in the hot tub, curl up with a book and hang out with whoever you come with. We never turned on the TV. The pond and creek were a nice bonus to have on the property. Sheerene decked the house out in beautiful Christmas touches, which added a nice festive touch. She was extremely responsive to any questions or concerns we had. There is no cell service there but the landline works to call out to anyone you need. Care was taken in instructions of what do do and where everything goes (how to light the stove, recycling, compost, etc). Go if you want to experience a nice disconnect from the hustle and bustle of whatever has you hustling in bustling in life. If you cannot disconnect from the internet for some reason, this is not the place for you. Thank you Sheerene for the wonderful stay, your kindness and hospitality!

    Georgia2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and cozy - one of a kind. Plenty of space, all of the amenities needed for a comfortable stay, and a beautiful setting. Sheerene really goes out of her way to be sure that guests feel welcome and have everything they need for a great stay. We hope to be back again!

    Jack2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This house and the property are great! Lush green gardens and lawns, plus a pond, a creek and a waterfall. My husband and I enjoyed staying in this cozy house, and our dogs got a kick out of exploring the property. Shereene was great, greeting us on arrival and giving us a tour plus a bit of history about the house. We appreciate the hospitality!

  • We have stayed in the yurt 3 times at 3 different times of the year. All 3 times have been a great experience. My wife and I had an excellent Valentines weekend. The Yurt is fully stocked with everything that you would need for your cooking needs. We enjoyed eating outdoors as well as indoors with all the meals we prepared. If you haven’t tried the yurt experience I would highly recommend this place. Jim and Kathy thank you again for having us.

    Justin2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • I can say enough good things about Kathy and Jim’s yurt. It’s isolated enough to disconnect from the worries of the city, but not too far from amenities (also the road is travelable in small cars, you don’t need 4 wheel drive or anything special). It’s truly a special place and we will certainly be back.

    Dave2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place was great! I really enjoyed my week of work out here. The space is well thought out and the kitchen allowed me to cook like I was at home.

    Stephen2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place! We are definitely putting a yurt as our home on our property!!

    Vicki2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt is perfect as a quiet relaxing space or as a basecamp for local adventures. Kathy and Jim thought of everything when preparing this place and are attentive and helpful hosts. Five stars!

    Reuben2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • You could call this the Action Yurt, with plenty to do close at hand, yet you can also turn off the world and just Be. Not far from a bunch of possible adventures, yet seemingly away from almost everyone else. Remote, but not distant. You'll want your own yurt after staying here, but you'd need a pretty amazing piece of land to match this setting. Getting to Action Yurt was far easier than it seems on paper, with clear signage once you're off the main road. Action Yurt is very comfortable, and you're not far from a fascinating, well-stocked organic market (called Mother Truckers... yeah, really) to get whatever you need to cook up a feast in the well-equipped kitchen. Oh, and the outdoor tub. Yeah, use the tub. So whether you're quest is outdoor playtime, or you just need to let your head and heart connect a bit, Action Yurt will absolutely accommodate you.

    Chip2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great response times and very beautiful location on the south yuba.

    Mark2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Are you looking for a place for a total recharge? Don't look anymore, this yurt is your place! Enjoy your vacation far away of your city life. Surrounded by nature in a fully equiped yurt you can turn your mind totally off. And there is no extra fee for the most amazing experience: you can take a relaxing bath in the outdoor forest bath tub. I can tell, you don't need more in your life, just a weekend here.

  • Was incredibly accommodating with very short notice. I used my account to get my son a place. I am on the east coast and my son was out west traveling. They communicated with me and answered all questions quickly. My son said the accommodations for gorgeous and clean!

    Ami2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The room and bathroom were very clean. Bed and pillows were exceptional. Host easy to communicate with. Nice porch and balcony. During our stay the area was without power, but the inn had a generator so our stay was comfortable and we had all the amenities— tv, WiFi, heat, etc. North San Juan is a very tiny town that has probably seen better days, there is a gas station/carry out, a bar and another little “grocery” store. The store was closed due to power outage, however the bar and carry out were still open. We enjoyed our walk around the area, especially the cows wearing the cow bells. The Milano Inn stands out as the most updated, and well cared for place in the area.

Atop that is a sleeping loft . The open area has a full kitchen, dining and living areas. A small area is designed for TV viewing or game room. The bathroom (no tub) is at the end of an attached breezeway. The yurt sits on 5 private acres, sharing space with an occupied family home and small studio.
The yurt has been on the property for over 10 years. It has provided long term housing for family and tenants, and studio space for local artists. Now I am excited to have the opportunity to offer this lovely space on Airbnb. My son lives on an island in Panama with his wife. They have rental spaces there (offered through Airbnb) and have encouraged this opportunity for me. It's a unique and inspiring place to spend time throughout the year (The rain on the roof is amazing in the winter). The big wood stove is good for a warm and quiet winter day. Jump in the South Yuba or Middle Yuba in just a few minutes during our hot summers. Spring is warm /cold, green and full of new growth. My favorites during those days are the dogwoods, and redbuds. We are always hopeful for the precious rain to continue into May and June The fall colors are enchanting. The property is forested by pines, cedars, oaks and wild animals. We are on the flyway for both south and north migrations of sand hill cranes. Spotting them high over the trees circling, moving and calling to each other is always a thrill. The seasonal changes offer different skies, colors, flora and fauna. We are only 65 miles from Sugar Bowl..
The area has much to offer to visitors and as a resident of the Ridge I can say the local community is diverse and full of wonderful characters. We are 7 minutes from Ananda Village, 5 minutes to the Middle Yuba and 10 minutes to the South Yuba For active people there are trails for biking and hiking. The Yuba River is a beautiful wild and scenic treasure. Swimming fishing and rafting opportunities abound. Downieville and the Sierra Buttes are 35 and 50 minutes away respectively The Buttes offer opportunities for high country camping , wilderness and beautiful trails for hiking and biking. There is a rich history here of both indigenous people and more recent inhabitants (gold mining, back to the land movement, family ranches, organic farms, artists, musicians.) The North Columbia Schoolhouse Cultural Center provides local entertainment (it houses an annual Story Telling Festival weekend) and now another entertainment venue has opened in nearby Camptonville. Nevada City and Grass Valley are within a 20 minute drive through the river canyon. There you will find art galleries, restaurants, book stores and entertainment venues . It’s a place where people love to live and a place to visit and enjoy as well
  • Very cool Yurt space. Much more spacious and well-equipped than your typical yurt. Host was great!

  • We had a blast staying in the yurt. Judith was wonderful and answered all our questions promptly. It's a cute little space tucked away in a pretty part of the world.

    Caelan2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Judith’s yurt is great. It is clean, spacious yet cozy, and has all the amenities you need (coffee maker & filters, pots and pans, etc) for a hassle free stay. We stayed in December and the wood stove keeps the place nice and warm. The Airbnb website states there isn’t a carbon monoxide alarm onsite but there is one. When arriving, make sure to follow Judith’s directions as google maps doesn’t take you to the right place. While we didn’t speak too much with Judith, she was very kind and helpful when we checked in. A really unique place for a relaxing getaway.

    Woo2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Judith's place is clean, quaint and peaceful. Highly recommend!

  • Judith was a fantastic host! We arrived after dark during a snow fall, and she continued to provide fast communication and offered tips on how to reach her place with ease. The yurt is very well-provisioned, with an ample kichen, full-size fridge/freezer and oven/stovetop. There was plenty of wood available to keep the fire going continuously during our 3-day stay. The bedroom was warm and the bed comfortable. The loft bedroom was also a very unique space to relax. Thank you for a great stay!

    Sarah2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Such a unique and quaint place to get away. Took the whole family (two kids and two dogs) to stay in Judith’s yurt and it was fantastic! The host was gracious and helpful and the property did not dissapoint. If you’re looking for a cozy place to disconnect, this is it.

    Caleb2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is by far my favorite airbnb of all time. This yurt is amazing, the location is beautiful and peaceful, the amenities are top notch... I can't say enough. I miss it already!

    Olivia2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the 'Bird Nest' Yurt was fantastic. Judith is a very gracious host, making certain you are comfortable and all your needs are met. She even offered up some of her autumn harvest from her garden and we had fresh tomatoes and peppers to include with our meals. Staying here was like coming 'home' with all of Judith's special touches. A nightly fire in the wood burning stove was the icing on the cake. We plan to stay at the 'Bird Nest' again if ever we are in the North San Juan area again.

Seven miles from Nevada City and Grass Valley, the bungalow called the Shala is nestled on the ten-acre property with oak and manzanita outcroppings. This sweet space is full of light; airy in the summer and deliciously warm on the cold days. In the winter the heat source is a propane-fueled wood stove. It has a cozy kitchen with a vintage Wedgewood stove, a small fridge and freezer, and everything you need to create nourishing and romantic meals. The floors are bamboo and stained concrete.
The Shala is a three-mile walk from a locals favorite swimming hole at the Yuba River or an easy drive to many favorite spots accessible by car. This space is a haven for healing and is also used for transformational immersion work so there is a menu of options available to you during your stay. • couples or individual intimacy counseling • massage and energy work • partner dancing • gourmet meals • private yoga lessons • private art classes • wine tasting a five-minute walk away • and much more.
Twenty years ago this ten-acre parcel was raw land and from there to here I have raised my three kids and gone from living in a tent to creating several nourishing homes. There is a lot here that is hard to describe, but when people visit, they remember the true feeling of home. My kids became more of themselves here and I did as well, right alongside of them. This is a beautiful place to land, revive, laugh, love, heal, learn, accept, play, unwind, and remember all that is most important to you.
  • This little cabin is set away from it all. You can barely peek the neighboring houses from this nest inside it’s own manzanita grove. Jaime is a gracious and responsive host. We usually camp in the area but had to come later into the fall. The plentiful windows and spacious but compact feeling of the space allowed us to feel almost like we were outside, but also cozy and tucked in. The gas fireplace kept us warm, the bed was firm and comfy, the living room and outside gave multiple hang-out options. We used the stove and oven and the compact, minimalist kitchen had just what we needed to cook a real meal, without any extras to get in the way. Most of all, the space feels loved and cared for, and we felt very at home. Thank you, we hope to come back!

    Nuria2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely weekend getaway at Jaime’s. Her place is charming, comfortable, and peaceful. Nestled in manzanita, oaks, and a sweet garden, the bungalow feels very private. The location was perfect for us, roughly equidistant between Grass Valley and Nevada City, and close to beautiful Yuba swimming pools. We would love to come back!

    Bryden2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A beautifully crafted space inside and out. Comfy and packed with many thoughtful details, from the poem on the welcome book showing up around the bungalow, to the exposed wood and retro kitchen. Very cool that it also has eco friendliness in mind. The outside space feels private with a nice little garden and a couple of areas to sit and hang out. The hammock is life. Jaime has great communication through Airbnb as well as helpful label instructions onsite about how to use the fan inside etc. Loved it!

    Dave2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a restful and relaxing stay at Jaime's. Loved sitting outside and listening to the tree frogs. Location was perfect for popping into town or exploring the local swimming holes. Kitchen had everything we needed for meals. Lovely little get-away. Hope to return again!

    Malinda2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jamie's place was amazing! My wife and I took our 3-year old daughter for her first 'glamping' trip and it was perfect! Beautiful area, lovely home, and Jamie is a wonderful host. We'll be back for sure!!

    Deron2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • The space is beautiful, and relaxing. Jaime is a wonderful host. Hope to have the opportunity to stay again.

    Christine2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was a delightful stay! The cabin is distant from the main house and any other properties, and quite private. The interior is very well done with a lot of fun touches like exposed wood. The living room is quite comfy. It's within easy striking distance of the Yuba river if that's your destination.

    Pepper2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Jaime's Shala! It's super secluded and a really special place. Jaime was super helpful and communicative. Hope to come again sometime!

  • My husband and I wanted to check out Lake Wildwood so we rented Linda and Bob's gorgeous downstairs flat for a couple of days. The house is right on the lake so we found ourselves out there all the time soaking up the serenity and peacefulness of the place. The flat was recently remodeled so everything is fresh, clean and new. We totally recommend staying here.

  • A magical lake-front getaway! The guest unit in the house is fantastic! The yard is so beautiful and peaceful, with hammocks and very adorable outdoor couches and tables, right on the lake with a cute little dock. Delicious meals nearby so you don't have to cook. The gated neighborhood is very quiet, and the water in the lake is warm and so relaxing.

  • Linda and Bob's place was a dream for us!! A stunning location, wonderful/flexible hosts, a clean and well-appointed place and a beautiful place to relax, play in the water and enjoy time together as a family. The two bedrooms were beautiful, an extra bed in the TV room area and a small kitchen perfect to make snacks and store items in the fridge. There is a cozy seating area with an outdoor fire pit with a pretty view of the lake. All around our experience was top notch. Linda and Bob were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. We'll be back for sure.

Situated in the middle of a beautiful, 100 acres property, the 3500 sq-ft house has a total of 5 rooms, two of which have private baths. The three others share a bath. The house serves as a perfect setting for hosting large groups. Located on the same property we have a separate, self contained, apartment that can be rented out as well. Opening onto the lake are two spacious rooms with sliding glass doors opening onto a shared patio area each with a private bath. A third room, with a view of the Missionary style barn and mission bell has a private patio. There are also two additional rooms. All the rooms are quiet and comfortable. For relaxing reading there is a library room. The living room is large and spacious to accommodate the Grand Table and fireplace. The living room connects to a breakfast area and kitchen with all the conveniences of a modern kitchen.
This is rural area but there are adjacent neighbors. The traffic is in this area is low. Just down the road, is the Oregon House Farm Store, filled with charming nick knacks, grass fed beef products and yummy vegetables.
  • This place is a gem. The lack is so serene, the setting is private, and the Inn perfectly accommodated our large group. Communication with the host was stellar, which really matters in a slightly remote location. Having breakfast food provided was a thoughtful touch.

  • This place is nothing short of a REMOTE MAGICAL DISCOVERY if you like being out in nature. I’m a long time AirBnB SuperHost and am used to people renting from me. Needed to find a remote place for my large family over the Thanksgiving holidays. Needed SPACE and functionality. What I got was a remote paradise. The view from the master bedroom is literally waking up and looking out onto the lake. You don’t even need to leave the bed…and the lake is RIGHT THERE, not miles away. Each of the rooms has its own uniqueness and appeal, but as a venue for a family gathering, nothing beats renting out the entire 5 bedroom bed & breakfast. You get modern stuff (wifi, microwave, brand new heater, etc.) but also get an old school fireplace could that be your style. The main dining table areas could probably fit 15-20 people if you needed to – EASILY. There are three tables to eat at and the largest fits 10 by itself, with plenty EXTRA surrounding space. Cool table top games everywhere. Can you say Jenga??!! Kitchen is large and stocked. Everything you need…utensils, plates, glasses, bowls, cooking items, etc. Stove/oven is large and the frig is too. Plenty of space to cook meals, while you have a view of the lake. The main common area has INCREDIBLE views of the lake. My guess is the lake is approx. 20 yards from the house. The house/b&b is not just at the lake. The lake is ON THE PROPERTY you are renting from. You own it practically. You can take walks on the path around the lake, enjoy a row boat in the lake or just go feed the animals (ducks? Geese?). Owner and manager were very responsive to any questions we had. Parking for tons of vehicles. Wine tasting events on Saturdays. If you need to stay at a Ritz Carlton in Beverly Hills, this is not it. If you want that magical feeling of driving out in the middle of nowhere, slowing creeping into gorgeous natural rolling hills and mountains, then down a few extra roads…asking yourself, what the heck could be out here??!! Then you start down the driveway, make a few turns and VOILA – remote paradise. You simply can’t beat this place if you want something LARGE for your family, but want people to have some privacy in their rooms too. This place is magical and an easy 1 hour drive from Sacramento. Enjoy. My family did! I not only want to rent it again, I want to buy it. It was developed by the original founder of Shakey’s Pizza and there is a cool book there that explains it all too.

Charles' staff was super communicative and helped us check-in, showed us around, even went to a hardware store and bought a grill brush for us! Also the fridge was pre-stocked with lots of breakfast foods, and coffee... This is the perfect place to go out and explore the sierra foothills during the day, and then come back and relax in the afternoon/evening.

  • The Frenchtown Inn is wonderful. This was my fourth time staying there and I would recommend it to anyone looking to visit the area. The manager Rafael is always helpful and responds quick! The property is gorgeous and comfortable.

  • What a find! For anyone wanting a wonderful getaway, this is the place. Clean, quiet, relaxing and serene. You'll love the migrating waterfowl that visit the lake right behind the house. You could not ask for more.
