Places to stay in Phippsburg
Stay in our custom designed tree dwelling w/ wood-fired cedar hot tub up among the trees! This unique structure is perched atop a 21-acre wooded hill sloping to water views. Enjoy stunning views from the King size bed through a wall of windows. Located in a classic coastal Maine village w/ Reid State Park's miles of beaches + famed Five Islands Lobster Co. (See 2 other tree dwellings on our 21 acre property listed on AirBnb as "Tree Dwelling w/Water Views." See our reviews!).
Part modern tree house, part tiny house, this abode is called "Souhegan" (which means "Watching Place") because of the gorgeous views of the river and neighboring conservation land. The dwelling consists of two elevated structures connected by a rope bridge (structures are elevated on posts and trees); a second rope bridge leads to a wood-fired cedar hot tub elevated up among the trees. We've used vintage and salvaged materials when possible. STRUCTURE #1: a two-story structure: master bedroom on the second floor (accessed via a SPIRAL STAIRCASE), with a wall of south facing windows affording stunning river views; includes KING SIZE BED (or two twin beds upon request); on the first floor is a small kitchen and dining area (with large windows for water views), a small full bathroom, and a screened-in porch with rockers and river views. Kitchen includes: two-burner stove, sink, small fridge, pots, pans, dishes, toaster oven (no regular oven) and, importantly, cork screw! STRUCTURE #2: is a convertible space with a wall of water-facing windows. UPON REQUEST (for an extra fee of $20 per person/per night, this fee includes labor of converting the living room space into a bedroom + extra linens and towels for the extra guests), we can set it up as a second bedroom (with either King size bed or two twins, do let us know at least one day in advance) or we can set it up as a living room space with sofas and coffee table. There is a water-facing veranda off the front of Structure #2. PLEASE NOTE: as much as we love pets we have a strict no-pet policy in our dwellings! There are 2 other tree dwellings on our 21 acre property listed on AirBnb as "Tree Dwelling w/Water Views." See our reviews! AUTUMN VISITS: Come stay in the tree dwelling in Autumn for stunning views of foliage and crisp walks along the marsh back to the tree dwelling to warm up in the cedar hot tub. The dwelling is well insulated and warms up quickly with our top quality wall mounted heating units. WINTER VISITS: The tree dwelling will be available 11 months out of the year. February 1-Jan 1. IN WINTER MOTNHS WE CAN ONLY HOUSE 2 GUESTS IN THIS DWELLING. They stay super cozy on cold nights, and there is no better time of year to sit in the hot tub, snow flakes swirling around you. Warm up after a day of cross country skiing or snowshoeing. THE VIEWS: Both structures have views across down the large tidal Back River. In the distance you can see where the Back River meets up with Kennebec River just before both flow into open ocean and past Seguin Island (where a light house was commissioned by George Washington). Across the Back River from the land lie hundreds of acres of pristine conservation land. Part of the year, this tree dwelling will be used for the Seguin Artist in Residence Program at the Back River Institute, which is under development. Use of KAYAK's and CANOE's are included with rental and available at anytime during your stay
We are located in the picturesque coastal village of Georgetown, Maine (which includes Five Islands). Reid State Park, with its beautiful, sandy beaches and hiking trails, is just a few miles from us in Georgetown. Be sure to visit the Five Islands Lobster Co., for best lobsters, lobster rolls, fish sandwich, corn on the cob--and harbor views. Five Islands Farm and Gourmet Market is excellent source of fine wine, beers, local produce, meats, cheeses, gifts. Also check out Robinhood Free Meetinghouse online for their local live music events just down the road from the dwelling. We are a ten minute drive from the town of Bath Maine which has great coffee shop (Cafe Creme), bookstore (the Mustard Seed), deli (the Living Edge), grocery store (Bracket's Market), health food store (Bath Natural Market), great yoga studio (Ebb and Flow), BBQ (Beale St. BBQ), fine dining (Solo Bistro), Maine Maritime Museum, and locally famous Reny's! We are 20 minutes from Brunswick with Bowdoin College, Sea Dog Brewery, Gelato Fiasco!, coffee shops, great restaurants and bar/restaurant/hangout (Frontier), indie movie theatre with couches (The Starlight). We are 30 minutes from Freeport, for original L.L. Bean store and outlets. We are 45 minutes from Portland, with its exploding, world-class restaurant/foodie scene.
  • Absolutely fabulous. Great location, great service, it is clean. Perfect for a retreat or getaway. Everything you might need. Do not hesitate.

We are located between the Popham Beach state park and Fort Popham. Both are nice walks by beach from the house.
  • Great place to stay in Maine! Clean and right on the beach! Awesome place!

  • Great weekend getaway place.

    Harsh2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great space for a family getaway. So close to the beach, you can hear the waves. Mahbella felt very homey and inviting. Lots of space for quiet time and play. Relaxing.

    C2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was lovely and the beach was perfect. Would highly recommend this rental!

    Cheryl2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Mah-Bella, the location was amazing. It is almost right on the beach, there is nothing between the house and the path down to the beach except a small dirt road so you can hear the waves and have a great view of the ocean from upstairs. We were the only ones in the neighborhood but it was the dead of winter. We went when it was below zero at night but the house is warm and cozy and the living room is nice and sunny. We had the beach to ourselves most of the time and it was great being able to bring our little dogs. The house was very spacious and had everything we needed. The cell phone service was a little spotty so it was a comfort to have a landline just in case. It was just the two of us but it would be a great spot for kids, the third floor is all set up for them with a tv and movies and plenty of sleeping area. The second floor has a pool table and tons of games and another tv.

    Claudia2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location!!! The ocean is literally right across the road. Pet-friendly was a plus. Toys and games for kids. Warm and cozy. Had everything we needed. For grocery and restaurants in off-season, drive about 20min to Bath, ME, which is also a quaint little town with cute shops.

    Casey2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Randy is a great host and beautiful beach house steps away from Popham beach and fort Popham. The house was spacious and we had a great time hosting family on Christmas Day with the game room. The house was nice and warm even on a crisp winter day in December. Will definitely do it again in the near future.

    Roland2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here in December and although it was chilly outside it was wonderful. We were fortunate to get some snow, and walking on the snowy beach was magical. Since it's not the high season we were pretty much the only ones in the neighborhood, and certainly the only ones on the beach, and that was really neat and different. The house stayed nice and cozy and there was so much to do between the pool table, games and puzzles. The kitchen has everything you could want for cooking and the house fit 7 of us comfortably. It's great that the house is in the woods but a dash from the beach. We walked up and down the beach many times - to Fort Popham State Park where we got to walk to Fox Island at low tide (while it was snowing - so cool!) - to Fort Baldwin on the other side. We also drove about 5 minutes to a nearby park Morse Mountain and did a short hike to an amazing scenic view. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in this gorgeous place! We would love to come back.

All the comforts of home while you're away from home. Come enjoy a newly built beach house (2008) just short walk from beautiful Popham Beach - one of Maine's most beautiful and expansive beaches, one hour north of Portland, Maine.
The cottage offers all the creature comforts including eat-in kitchen with breakfast nook, open-concept living and dining room, 3 bedrooms including a first-floor master with ensuite and walk-in closet, 1 den that converts to bedroom with privacy doors and a sofa bed, and 2 additional bathrooms. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee on our screened in back porch or watch the kids returning from the beach on one of our front porch rocking chairs. The home is stocked with everything you'll need for your stay, including kitchenware, a washer and dryer, sheets, bath towels, beach towels, beach bags, sand toys, kayaks, charcoal grill, board games and puzzles.
  • Popham beach in March is thrilling! Where the Kennebec meets Casco Bay, the waves are impressive and seafoam aplenty. This modern tastefully furnished home is a fantastic space to get together with friends and family. There is plenty of room with all amenities for a wonderful time.

    Myles2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful spot! Nicely appointed home, spotless, and very comfortable. Kitchen has everything you could ask for, nice layout for game playing, cooking together, and cozy furniture for endless conversation for our girls reunion. Even our dogs felt right at home! Highly recommend, has been like no other rental we have had, kudos to the owner!

    Diane2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Was pleasantly surprised with how big this house felt. There is one bedroom and a common area pullout couch downstairs and all other beds are upstairs. Worked well for our two families! Close to the beach and fun even though it was winter! Closest store/restaurant is 25/30 minutes away, which wasn’t an issue for us, but something to note especially if going off season. House had lots of games, toys, and movies! Great for our kids ages 1-6! Highly recommend this house!

  • My husband, daughter, and her beau and I came for a long weekend in October and had a wonderful time at Meg's place! It was so peaceful and comfortable. The beds were great, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the living room and dining room were welcoming places to hang out in the evening. We hope to be back next year!

    Annr2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The house is perfect for sitting with friends down by the lake or going for a hike nearby. The beds are comfortable, and the place is super clean.

  • We visited during off season and it was VERY quiet. Met the Property Manager and he seemed very nice and said if we needed anything, he would be right around. We were able to take a couple kayaks out without needing to track someone down which was very convenient and the experience was breathtaking. The info pack was very informative and the decor was unique and beautiful. Only wish we had the time to stay longer! We would highly recommend The Nest for anyone looking for a quiet getaway.

A Bed on the Beach! Dollhouse in the Dunes! Island and lighthouse views. Listen to the waves right outside your door. Nothing between you and the sea except dune grass and sand. Formerly part of the beloved Ocean View Campground and Cottages. Newly renovated, granite counters, all new appliances. This is a tiny house perfect for 2. Queen size bed in the main living area. Bath with shower, kitchenette with sink, two burner cook top, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven.
  • Excellent location, within steps of the ocean. You wake up to a beautiful sunrise. The house is tiny, but very efficiently designed. The furnishings are all modern, clean, and in great condition. The beach allows for dogs after October 1st, so it was fun letting our pup run around and jump in the ocean. He had the best trip ever! Horses are, also, allowed on the beach after October 1st, so we ran into several horses and their friendly owners. Would recommend to anyone that loves the ocean, and would like to get away for a long weekend.

    Sean2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is perfect for an ocean view getaway! I visited with my dog and we took a long beach walk every morning and evening. After Oct. 1 the state beach is usable by those with dogs, and it was a great spot to visit that we could walk to in minutes. On the other end you can walk down to the old fort/historic site which is also great to see. The cabin itself is very nicely done - it's really cute inside and has everything you need. The fridge held our food for the week no problem and it was a huge plus to be able to make meals right there. It rained some while we were there and just sitting in the cabin watching TV with the curtains open to the ocean (it is a spectacular view right from your bed!) was perfect. The instructions were clear for the property, the check in was self-done and simple, and the host is available to contact if needed. A really great, smooth visit!

  • Great location with stunning views. Very cozy with all the necessary amenities.

  • This little cottage is perfect for a couple . It is bright, airy, has most everything you would need for your stay. Mostly, the location is amazing, with only the beach grass and dune between you and the ocean. The stairs to the beach are only steps away. We will definitely be going back!

    Marsha2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is truly magical! The space is very clean, and the views are even better in real life. It was a perfect little cottage for our first anniversary. Even on our one dreary day, it was lovely just to snuggle up and watch the waves. Thank you again!

    Kathleen2019-09-06T00:00:00Z

  • Such a quaint quite place with spectacular views and a small charming area yet not far from larger towns. John was a great host with great Communication! Spinney’s seafood 10 minutes away great spot to eat !

  • Fabulous location, decks and views. Very spacious interior, great for 2 families or large family or group. There are 2 beautiful coves a stone's throw from the house. We also loved the nearby beach at Morse Mountain, recommended by the hosts. One thing to note: the kitchen, while stocked with the usual cookware and dishes, contains no food whatsoever, not even salt and pepper.

    Sarah2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place was very cozy and had beautiful views, especially from the master bedroom. I had to book this last minute and the host was accommodating and let us have early check in. I would highly recommend!

    Allyson2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome property located in a cool small fishing town. The cove access just down the road was a great place for our girls to explore the ocean. Awesome view from the master bedroom of Maine’s rocky coast. Can fall asleep to the soothing sounds of waves. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need to have your own lobster boil! Thanks John for a great stay.

Completely renovated 2019 Popham Beach cottage! You simply cannot beat this location. Come stays steps from from the beach, Fort Popham, and Spinneys restaurant! Please do not hesitate to ask us questions! We apologize for not having many new pictures available yet. Renovations are underway and will be finished around May 1, 2019!
If you know Popham, you know how awesome this location is!
  • The cottage is clean, thoughtfully furnished (the kitchen had everything necessary to prepare and serve meals!) and very comfortable. It is located in very close proximity to Popham Beach - even though we visited in the winter, we were able to enjoy a few walks along the sand. The upstairs game room was a great space to keep our little ones entertained when it was cold outside. Our family enjoyed our stay very much.

    Katherine2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really cute place, near the beautiful Popham Beach. Perfect setup for dog owners. Everything is in good conditions. There's a seafood restaurant at the corner of the street. Try one the chowders, they are all very good!

    Nicolas2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, right near water and fort popham. You can tell it was updated and modern but still felt very cozy and just like you were at home! Plenty of room for six of us!

Phippsburg cottage nestled in the trees, conveniently located, wonderful light and quiet retreat. A great getaway, easy access to Popham Beach, Fort Popham, conservation areas, numerous walks, Maine Maritime Museum, Malaga Island and more. Great for families, couples, comfortably sleeps up to 5 people. One bathroom with shower, fully equipped open concept kitchen/ living room with WiFi. Come to relax and enjoy the Peninsula and surroundings. Guests of all backgrounds are welcome in our home.
Access to the cabin requires a short walk up natural stairs to the porch. The screened porch is a relaxing place to listen to the wind and birds with string lights giving a nice evening ambiance. The living room has a fully functional easy-to-use gas stove to take the edge off on cool mornings or evenings. Steep Stairs to the second floor bring you to the bedroom with a queen bed and lovely forest views and loft with 2 singles and a futon.
Phippsburg is a rural setting with access to restaurants, seafood, recreation activities such as swimming, kayaking, surfing, and hiking.
  • Charlie and Abbys place was even better than I expected! The pictures on the listing don't even portray just how cozy the space is. The kitchen has everything you could ever need- besides the food itself. The table is in the cutest little nook with a peaceful view of the forest. The bathroom was loaded with fresh towels and even extra shampoo and soap in case you forgot your own. The living room is so cozy with floor to ceiling windows all the way around the room and makes your feel like your really in nature. At first I was bummed the place did not have a wood burning stove BUT by the end of our visit I was grateful! The stove in the living room was cozy to sit by, kept us really really warm, and looks just like a real wood burning stove just without the work! The shelf in the living room was equip with many games that we played around the fire. Upstairs the loft has two beds a pull out couch and a TV (we didn't watch the TV once!) The bedroom upstairs had the comfiest bed and again 360 views of the forest through the gorgeous windows. I would love to stay here again in the summer time to be able to enjoy the beautiful screened in porch. If your looking for a Maine getaway this is the place to stay! Thank you Charlie and Abby.

  • The Les Arbes Cottage is absolutely beautiful. It is definitely intended for a couple or a family, but it was a wonderful place for a solo traveler to refresh as well. It is close to the beach and some wonderful hidden sites - I learned so much about Phippsburg & Popham! It also isn’t too far away from the usual stores in Bath. The large windows overlooking the woods are beautiful in the daytime and the covered porch was the perfect place to relax. Everything you need to make a quick meal (food excepted) is ready for you. I definitely recommend this cottage for anyone looking to get a little more isolated and in tune!

    Jennifer2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely clean & great location

  • We can say that this was the best Airbnb we ever stayed in. It is such a unique location and the cottage is so cozy and has everything one needs for a perfect stay. We will definitely come back when we are in Maine again. Thanks again to Charlie and his wife who answered all our questions and also Tiffany who made our stay so wonderful! All the best Tina

  • This place is amazing! It is the perfect retreat! A gorgeous cabin in a secluded space—cannot recommend it more!

  • We wish we could have stayed longer. The property and house are charming and you definitely feel like you're getting away from it all. We really loved our stay.

  • Great location, peaceful and quiet, just what we needed, for a quick trip to recharge.

    Morten2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We cant fault this place! Best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. It was the perfect mix of being cosy like a log cabin, and big enough to feel like we had more than enough space to cook, play games (there’s a whole load of them there) and chill out in front of the fire. Waking up to the sun rising through the trees is very special. The whole place is spotless and beautifully furnished. We spent two nights there and managed to make it to Boothbay Harbour for whale watching, which was an unforgettable experience, and Popham beach to watch the most incredible sunset. We could imagine spending a week or two there and not being tired of it. Thanks so much again!

Our cozy cottage is nestled in a pine grove, just steps across the dirt road from the majestic Popham Beach. Enjoy the peace and quiet of a vintage hide-away in Popham as we have done for the past 50 years. We are a short walk away from Spinney's Restaurant & Percy's. We welcome couples, solo adventurers, families and pets. Although we note a minimum stay of 3 nights, bookings in July through the first week of September require a 7-night minimum stay.
  • Victoria's cabin is as sweet as can be. Its history as a dear family retreat was evident in the furnishings and details. it was perfect for Steve and my get-a-way, private, yet steps away from the most beautiful beach in Maine. Loved the screened in porch, and enjoyed the use of the beautiful stone fireplace to take the chill off the fall evenings.

  • A great experience! The host: if sb deserves the label "superhost", then it's certainly Victoria! Friendly, reponsive, efficient - thanks for all your support Victoria. You truly care about your guests! The cottage: simple but perfect. Has all you need for a great vacation. The place: for those who know Europe, it's a mix between "les landes" in southwest France, but vaster and wilder, and Finland with all its little islands, lakes, wetlands, and - unfortunately- moskitos. The beach and the sea: when we arrived, we were first a bit disappointed. It was high tide, a lot of drift wood on the beach, not quite as large as we imagined... but when we went the next time, at low tide, it was simply amazing and totally pristine. What a beautiful landscape. We went walking 8km every morning and depending on time of the day it never looked the same. Water is quite cold, but we nevertheless went swimming (at least my son and I did). However, some words of caution to avoid disappointment: for us, it was not really a beach to sit and spend the day in the sunshine (although for others it clearly was). As said it's wide and beautiful at low tide but a bit less so at high tide. And especially at the place closest to the cottage, there were many moskitos, even at the beach! But: just walk a little bit further (basically around the corner) and it's great for kids to play, for walking, running, all sort of sports activities, and - of course - for admiring the landscape. All in all: highly recommended!

  • This is my second year with Victoria. Victoria is an awesome host and the cottage is perfect. Not big, but everything you need and just steps from the beach. The description of the house and amenities are very accurate. The cottage is perfect for a small family. I will definitely be back again!

Sea Rose Cottage ground level apartment in Sebasco Harbor offers partial ocean views from across a camp road, a private association water access property, and is within walking proximity to a neighboring resort. Popham Beach is only 5 miles away. The property is a large one level cottage where an apartment has recently been created from its west wing. It consists of one large bedroom with two large beds, a spacious bathroom, a new liv/kit/din. room with a full sized sofa bed, and a deck.
The approach to this one level cottage apartment is across a causeway with a lake on one side and Sebasco Harbor on the opposite. The neighborhood is great for walking with boat launches, an ice cream stand, two restaurants, and golf within walking distance. Sea Rose Cottage is nestled within a private road only accessible to 9 cottages. The near acre lot allows for privacy and quiet. Guests have deeded access to a boat launch within a 1 minute walk from the front yard. The cottage is cosy casual with new kitchen appliances and bed mattresses. Some decor is coastal themed with other items from my travels and overseas job placements. The kitchen is well supplied with dishes, glasses, cooking and baking pots and pans. A back deck is nearly exclusive to guests, only sharing a grill with the owner. Bring your kayaks or small sailboat and launch in the neighborhood or at other nearby sites!
Sebasco Estates is a village within the town of Phippsburg just south of Bath. The area is rich with boat building and fishing industries that have a long history in this coastal Maine region. The neighborhood consists of nine cottages on a private camp road across the small harbor from an acclaimed resort.
  • Beautiful cottage situated in Sebasco harbor. We had a wonderful time in Elizabeth’s apartment that was so much more that we imagined before arrival. The neighborhood is really calme, has only a private road access so you hardly ever see or hear anyone. From the kitchen living room there is a wonderful view on the trees of the front yard and the bay is only a few meters away. The house was perfectly equipped and absolutely clean. The bedroom was also beautifully arranged and beds were very comfortable. We traveled with our 18 month old son in Maine for almost two weeks and Elizabeth’s place was one of our best experience. She is very responsive and discreet, gave us nice advices about local restaurants and hikes and made our stay so comfortable. Overall a perfect experience!

    Ildiko2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, spacious and close to all that Maine has to offer for a seaside adventure. Also, liked the convenience of the restaurant and pub at Sebasco resort.

  • Excellent in all respects

  • We absolutely loved our stay! It was our first time visiting Maine, and we couldn't have asked for a better location for exploring the coast. Liz's communication was fantastic, and she gave us lots of recommendations for the area before we arrived, so we had plenty of time to plan our visit. Her cottage is right across the street from the water, and is so peaceful and quiet. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

    Katie2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The Sea Rose cottage is a peaceful place to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of glorious mid-coast Maine. We loved the comfortable and cozy feeling of the cottage, and the interesting art pieces from Elizabeth’s many travels. The cottage is so well located for excursions. We hiked Merritt Mountain, ate at Anna’s, spent a day at Popham, poked around Sebasco Resort, and visited a friend in Georgetown. The games, puzzles, toys, and high chair were much appreciated and thoughtful touches for the kiddos. Elizabeth was a kind host, easy to communicate with and made sure we were comfortable and had all our questions answered. Worth noting that the bathroom is fabulous and the back porch and grill are great amenities. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • Clean, bright and well equipped place to call home while on vacation in Maine. Wonderful location and friendly and helpful host. The neighbors were also friendly and welcoming. While vacationing here we were lucky to spot osprey, juvenile eagles and herons in the neighborhood! We also had daily seal sightings at Popham Beach! Definitely recommend staying here!

Your own island! Total privacy. Off the grid and very close to nature. New for 2017 we have a bald eagle that is nesting on our island . Gorgeous scenery, water views out all windows. Rates include a captained boat ride to the island and back home on day of departure.
Propane lanterns, stove and refrigerator allows you to be very comfortable despite no electricity. Battery operated cell phone chargers. Solar campers shower. Odor free composting toilet. At low tide you can walk on the sand bar for hours.
  • Private island all to our selves. Eagles, flying squirrels, overall an amazing experience.

    Crystal2018-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • It’s just as advertised. Off grid camp on a island. We had another good vacation there. We had our own boat and brought a 21lb propane tank, and 6gl water jug. Hook up for tank on indoor stove. Nice.

    Ken2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The home and islands are amazing. My phone died on day 2 which was a perfect excuse for me to completely disconnect and enjoy there here-and-now. I visited with just my dog as a quiet retreat for us from his little sister (canine) and some fresh air. Low tide provided a private beach and plenty of exploring the other islands. During high tide we sunbathed on the rocks with our feet (paws) in one of the pools created by the rain. The home is safe and secure, and the compost toilet is smell free and a great way to preserve nature. The bald eagles nest right outside of the back patio is absolutely amazing. They are truly majestic birds.

    Heidi2018-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to unplug & recharge. Bring a good book, a headlamp and shoes to explore the island with (it rained a full day while we were there, which was lovely in it's own right, but we were glad to have brought our trusty rain boots). We didn't bring a boat and were perfectly content for the long Labor Day weekend, although if we return we'll make sure to rent a dingy or kayaks to explore the area. The only thing missing is the option to have a bonfire, which makes sense considering the location/landscape.

    Nina2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay. Just what we expected and wanted. Off grid island. Bed was very comfortable. We brought extra water and a propane tank although she does have propane there. Would definitely stay again.

Phenomenal views, a sprawling deck and an open concept living area all combine to create a fantastic experience on the coast of Maine. Located in a quintessential Maine coastal village watch the lobstermen ship out whilst sipping coffee from an Adirondack chair on your front porch. A full kitchen, grill and access to a large dock and the water directly across the street help contribute to an experience that won’t easily be forgotten!
  • Maine is without a doubt the best place on earth and John’s place was a gem. Beautiful views, huge space, nice bathrooms, comfy beds. I always judge an AirBnB by whether I’d stay again and I would stay again and again at John’s. Enjoy!

  • Thank you John! We had a wonderful weekend. The house is absolutely amazing. It’s an amazing place just to unplug and get away.

Maine's governor has closed most short-term lodgings for April, and she may extend the closure into May. If you have questions about availability, or if you are a medical professional responding to the COVID-19 crisis in need of lodging in April, please contact us via the "contact host" link below. And stay safe and well! The snow is gone at Spinney Point, the birch tree off the deck is budding, and daffodils are poking up. We expect a bright forsythia bush this spring!
Our cottage is one of four on a ten-acre peninsula on the east side of the mouth of the Kennebec River. It's a serene, lovely spot overlooking Todd Bay, a shallow tidal basin/flat off the main river channel. Our children learned to kayak in the bay (a path leads from our deck, along which they also picked blueberries). The thirteen summers we spent there--and many winter holidays--were magical for us. We hope your time will be too. The cottage is insulated to stay cool in summer and warm in winter. Its primary heat is from baseboard electric units in all the rooms, with a small wood stove in the living room. For summer, there are ceiling fans in the bedrooms, living room, and dining room, and there's usually a breeze blowing up from Todd Bay. It comfortably accommodates six, with two large bedrooms and one smaller "guest room." All three have large closets, and the bigger two rooms have dressers or built-in drawers; the guest room has two luggage stands in the closet. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking anything from blueberry pancakes in the morning to lobsters, corn, and clams at the end of the day. We acquired the cottage in 2002 and enjoyed it in many different ways. In the summer we spent a lot of time on the screened porch, watching the weather coming in from the west, the tides rolling in and out of the Bay, and the birds in the trees that framed our view. We watched red-gold sunsets and, later in the evenings, fireflies down the slope. The cottage was our home base for exploring the tidal waters in kayaks that we kept at the end of our path, for digging clams at low tide, and for driving across Georgetown Island to lobster rolls on the wharf at Five Islands, or to the long beaches and surf of Reid State Park. There's always something to do in Georgetown and its surrounding communities. When it rained we stayed inside and read, or played games with our kids, or went to the Maritime Museum in Bath or the Boothbay Aquarium. We have prepared an expanded "house manual" for our guests in which we list many of our favorite local destinations; you'll receive a digital version when you make a reservation, and you'll find a paper copy in the cottage on your arrival. In the fall and winter we came whenever we could. In October the road down from Bath blazed with astonishingly bright color, and as the leaves fell we saw more and more of the Kennebec River from our windows. Usually snow would fall by late December, a treat for our Californian children. We have decided to keep the cottage open for rental through late autumn for guests who want to experience Maine in its beautiful, quiet off-seasons. It has idiosyncrasies. The main entrance is through the laundry room/"mudroom" (an advantage in winter). Like all other Georgetown homes, it's on a well/septic system, so guests need to be careful about water use, but in fact we've always had enough. There's no trash pickup, and we'll leave instructions on taking trash to the town's Transfer Station two and a half miles up the road. There's a wi-fi network for the house (and a small study with some great views), but no cable TV; we rely on streaming services. And the closest gas stations and supermarkets are in Bath, twelve miles or so to the north.
Georgetown is a town and island at the mouth of the Kennebec, connected by bridges to the mainland. Its center is about nine miles south of Route 1 and the small city of Bath, Maine. The cottage is two and a half miles south of Georgetown Center, in Bay Point, one of the quietest neighborhoods of Georgetown Island. It's rural and slow-paced in our southwest corner of the island, but there's plenty to do in Georgetown and beyond: sandy beaches, hiking trails, historical sites, museums, antique stores, restaurants of all kinds. We've been exploring midcoast Maine for thirty summers (and several winters) and still feel like newcomers. We've prepared a guide in the cottage for our guests to some of our favorite nearby destinations, but you'll probably find things we didn't know about. In all our explorations, however, we've valued most being able to come home to the quiet of Todd Bay and Spinney Point.
  • A gem of a place in a beautiful location. Great host as well...would like to return in summer

  • I had a very nice stay at John's place. Needed a writing retreat for a few days and it was just what I was after. Lovely well-appointed home, quiet, peaceful, beautiful setting, glorious water views. Would definitely stay again.

  • John was the sweetest host and it was a spectacular stay! My family members loved it! Unfortunately, I got ill before we drove up but they really enjoyed the whole experience learning about the hosts winding down with a fire and the simplistic tone of the house! So thoughtful especially the muffins welcoming us to the home in the fridge and the binoculars! This is an idyllic location and I do hope to stay again and for a much longer time, it was just not long enough! Also, there was a storm before we stayed and john was so responsive and observant about the power outage at the cottage the power ended up turning on before we left thank goodness it was meant to be! He sent this beautiful picture of the sunset and said so glad this worked out via email! I really appreciated that touch! I really don't like writing reviews but this one deserves the effort and again I was sick I wasn't even there yet the host and my family sent out rays of welcoming energy.

Unobstructed panoramic ocean views from every room of the cottage. Beachfront to renowned Popham Beach await at you at this charming and recently renovated two bedroom, fully furnished cottage in the new Driftwood neighborhood. Please note this cottage is in a condo association with shared access. Situated only steps from Popham's seven mile white sandy beach, the renovated cottage enjoys spectacular southeasterly views of Seguin and Pond Island lighthouses.
  • If you are looking to stay right on the beach, views and night surf to sleep by than just book this property. Myself, husband and his 4 family members stayed for 3 glorious nights. 2 of the 3 nights we added Debs other property right next store for extra sprawl space for 6 adults. The property can handle 6 for dinner and gatherings however unless its 3 couples, the sleeping is a bit awkward for 2 extra non bunking adults. Beautiful outdoor propane grill to add to our enjoyment with summer meals. Just a 5 star experience! We will return when time allows.

  • A stylish and comfortable cottage, overshadowed by the jaw dropping view. Popham beach has to be seen to be believed. This cottage perched on the dunes offers amazing views, firm beds, a well equipped kitchen, and ample hot water.

  • The location of this cottage is incredible, with private access to my favorite beach in Maine. We spent each day swimming, reading, drinking coffee, and eating relaxed meals on the porch or at the table with a beautiful view of the beach. The cottage is charming and laid back, and offered just about every convenience we could think of. The sand is very fine, unlike just about any other beach in Maine, and very comfortable to walk on while looking for Sand Dollars and sea shells. I also brought a road bike and rode the 20 mile loop up Parker Head Road and back in on Basin Road several times. Plan on being back before the park opens at 9:00am and you will have these quiet roads just about all to your self. Highway 209 has little to no shoulder, so avoid biking on it while the park is open. We would absolutely stay here again if we have the opportunity - we'll always remember this relaxing vacation. Thanks Deb and Jim!

This cottage is good for couples, families with kids or groups. It sits on the water at the mouth of the Kennebec with amazing views of Fort Popham. Includes pass to Reid State Park. Half-tide dock requires carrying kayak a few feet at low tide (boots provided). Kayaks from seaspraykayaking can be delivered right to cottage. 4 Day minimum, but if you see a 2-3 day window you want, drop us a note (you'll have to select a random 4 days to contact us.)
This cottage is clean, charming and has an authentic quality that fits well with the natural beauty that surrounds it. It is well maintained by careful and conscientious owners who treat it like a home, not a franchise motel. There is a deck with an awning and furniture for lounging while taking in the spectacular view. Action on the river is always fun to watch, whether its lobster boats or kayakers. You can hear distant voices from across the river at Popham Beach. There is also a garden and back yard area with shady trees and a picnic table. My renters agree its a very magical place.
Georgetown is a pleasantly secluded island (connected by a bridge) with many public lands and nature preserves for hikes and exploring. There is a short drive to the nearest country store, and a few minutes more to two restaurants. Beyond that, it's 20 minutes to Bath, where you can find anything you need.
  • This is a beautiful cottage with views across the Kenebec River to Fort Popham and easy access to the amenities of Georgetown Island. Reid State Park is a short drive providing access to Maine's beautiful coast.

  • Sams place was wonderful! My husband and I and our two 2 year old boys enjoyed the house very much. It was easy to find even in the dark. The location is the best! We were looking for some peace and quite and got it. It was far enough away from traffic, but easy access to a general store and the next bigger town. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It was very clean and very well maintained. Our kids loved playing in the loft area where plenty of toys were kept. The outside patio was nice for sitting, we even spotted a seal. I could go on and on. This place was a fantastic find and we would love to rent it again in the future! Thank you!!

  • Excellent communication with the owner. Quick check-in. The house is charming with a wonderful aesthetic and style. You do get the feeling of being back in the early 1900s, off the grid, while still having the advantages of tight sealing windows, improved insulation, and internet access (not to mention electricity and running water). Beautifully quiet and peaceful location. The house is very comfortable, so just sitting and reading on a rainy day is as nice as sitting out on the deck watching the tide go in and out on a sunny one. As others have mentioned, the walls for the bathroom don't quite reach the ceiling, so while there's visual privacy, there is no auditory privacy. The walk back and forth to the car is a little steep, but one of us at 82 was able to manage without difficulty. If you like sitting and reading in the evening, you may wish to bring an appropriate lamp as the house has plenty of overall light but no task lighting other than in the kitchen. Bedding was comfortable and warm, and while we didn't need them, the closets held space heaters. The windows are new and secure; we'd open them during the day for a nice breeze through the screens, and close them at night when it got chilly outside. The house held the day's heat nicely through the night. Water is in short supply, being fed from a rainwater tank, but you can still take a hot shower if desired, and there's no odor or bad taste to the water itself. The three of us never ran out of water. Internet connectivity is very good - no problems on that count. Kitchen microwave, oven, stove, refrigerator all worked well. Note that the refrigerator is smaller than a typical kitchen refrigerator (but larger than a college dorm fridge); for the three of us for four days, we filled it up at the start and had just enough to get us through. Loved the comfortable deck, sitting on the dock at high tide, and relaxing in the peace and quiet. Overall high rating and look forward to visiting again.

  • Sam’s cabin on the water is beautiful. I stayed for 4 days with my wife and 2 daughters and it was the perfect setup. We rented kayaks from Seaspray which you can launch from the dock. Plenty of privacy, and we were able to cook comfortably. Seeing the water from all the rooms was a huge bonus. My only comment would be to bring your own food as the grocery shopping is sparse. Other than that, the proximity to Reed St park and the little beach down the street were amazing! I would definitely come back, thanks Sam!

  • Awesome waterfront property with great views and walking distance to beaches. A short drive to some fun pier restaurants and hikes.

    Rachel2019-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sam is so thoughtful! His place is a comfy home away from home, with a well-stocked kitchen. There are plenty of windows and binoculars to view the activity near and across the water to Popham. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the deck and our evenings viewing spectacular sunsets! Getting to the front door from the car can be challenging to some.

  • VIEWS VIEWS VIEWS! Some of Maine’s classic scenes right before yours eyes everyday. Wonderful sweet cottage - it was so hard to leave after listening to the ocean outside our bedroom window every night. Highly recommend this adorable place right on the water.

This amazing new house is found on the famous and acclaimed Popham Beach. ** Please read "Other Things to Note" section for important information. For example the cancellation policy is only strict during July/Aug**
From a guest: "We stayed over Christmas and it was so beautiful watching the snow fall while overlooking the water. The house is exactly as pictured and described, it has everything you need, a very well equipped kitchen, lots of space in the lounge and a large dining room table, which was perfect for our Christmas dinner. The area is beautiful, and very close to the beach. Clark was wonderful to deal with and was very responsive to all my emails, and called me to make sure we arrived ok. My first Airbnb experience was fantastic, and I hope that i get to stay again in this great home" I look forward to speaking with you and sharing this wonderful home and beach. Thank you, Clark
  • The house is lovely and the location is beautiful. The beach is a two-minute walk away. It’s easy to walk down and see the sunrise and sunset and you can see two lighthouses. At the house, we watched people ice fishing on the pond. A fox came through the yard at dusk. We were there in January, but in the summer it would be amazing. You are expected to clean and there is no baseboard heat downstairs (portable radiators). So that’s good to know and be ready for. We had a great time! A gorgeous view and a very nice host.

    Cynthia2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice house, the host is very responsive and respectful. I liked the different stored games and the place was very nite and clean.

  • This spot is absolutely lovely. Overlooking the pond and a five minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast — and the last sandy beach going north in Maine — it is a find! Do you remember to bring mosquito repellent though. The walk to the beach can be buggy.

    Pedro2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • The place was beautiful, the pond was frozen over enough to skate on, and the beach is only a few minutes down the road. My friends and I had an awesome time, would highly recommend.

  • Great place to reconnect with friends and family and get away from the hustle & bustle of life. Enjoy this beautiful house and beautiful views. The place had all the kitchen amenities we needed to cook with. Communication was great with the owners, and they were quick to help out. For example, the heater in one of the bedrooms would not turn on so the brought over a wonderful small electric fireplace heater right away. Great hospitality, we will stay again!

Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

The Sand Dollar Cottage is a classic quaint Maine cottage in picturesque Maine fishing village. The first floor master bedroom has a queen size bed. There are two more bedrooms upstairs & an additional bathroom. There is a dining room and sitting area adjacent to the living room which has amazing views of the crashing ocean . The kitchen has everything you'd need. A full bathroom completes the first floor. The location in West Point makes an ideal “home base” for any vacation.
The location of the Sand Dollar Cottage in West Point makes an ideal “home base” for any vacation you choose. For those who “need to get away from it all” you can spend your entire vacation in West Point. Guests can lazily relax on our deck or perhaps take a short stroll to Cat Cove for swimming, shell collecting and tide pool exploring. Cat Cove is a great location to launch your kayaks for a day of exploring nearby harbors and islands. A short trail through the piney woods leads to a secluded rocky area that is fun to explore. Among the rocks are tide pools where some of the locals learned to swim. Look for sea creatures that are trapped in the pools! Bring your fishing poles for an early morning of fishing. The rocks are a good place to cast your line in. Be sure to keep a look out for eagles, loons, cormorants and seals! A Maine vacation must is fresh seafood for a lobster or clam bake. You can take a leisurely stroll down to the local lobster pound for the fresh catch of the day.
  • This is our second time staying at Sand Dollar cottage. Immediately upon entering, we could see that Bill had added a few more touches to make it feel even more homey than our last visit . Soft blankets to curl up in, and new carpet in the upstairs bedrooms that felt good on our toes. Both times immediately we felt like we were "at home". We have cooked several dinners in the kitchen and I have now baked a total of 5 pies in the oven there with no complaints from my family . The kitchen has all the necessities one needs. Part of being on the Maine coast is the disconnecting with our usual day to day lives and just enjoying each other and family. This house allows for that-- homey feel, doing puzzles, playing cards and just enjoying each other. Even a trip to the grocery store is a family adventure on these twisty roller coaster roads with us all squealing in the car. This is a magical place that will always hold a special spot in my family's hearts. Bill was wonderful with his communication to me throughout this rental, especially with the recent power outages. So appreciated his quick response that decreased my anxiety immediately. Thank you Bill for sharing your coastal Maine home with us. This area is a treasure.

  • We were amazed at the area the house was located - we were not expecting it to be so beautiful. Then when we stepped into the house, we felt right at home. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. And the views from the two decks - unforgettable.

    Irene2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great coastal Maine cottage. Well equipped with all we needed for a week stay. Loved exploring the area. Near popham beach and within an hour of everything else we wanted to see. We loved Maine!

    Sally2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is comfortable and cozy like your own home might be and had plenty of room to visit and play games. It was nice to be so close to other Maine attractions and having the passes was a nice touch. It is in a sweet little cove that is nice to walk around and look for treasures the ocean brought in. Great for kids and adults!

    Darci2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This home will surpass all expectations. The views are breath taking... we watched seals play on the rocks in the morning, from the top deck. There are eagles and herons flying over the majestic scenery.. literally minutes from popham beach and fort popham where our dog could run on the beach. Head beach is also just a hop skip and jump. The people in this little village are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet in Maine! (From a native Maineah) Check in was perfect, like it was your own summer cottage. Bill met up with us shortly after checking in with warm polite southern charm. He always made us feel like part of the village and if we needed anything he was there within minutes. We will definitely be back!

    Martha2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Johns place. We loved having our coffee on the deck with a beautiful view of the water!

    Kerry2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • We couldn't have enjoyed this house more and thought it was even nicer than the pictures showed. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The neighborhood is so cute and friendly. It's a quick walk to a small beach and a close drive to lots of area attractions (Popham beach and fort, Bath, Freeport). We would definitely stay there again!

Charming, rustic, yet comfortable cabin in the woods steps from secluded Small Point beach. Perfect for couples looking to unplug and unwind. Lazy daybed in main room. Clean, modern decor with wood stove for chilly evenings. Hamlet was built and has been used by the same family for generations. It is a classic no frills Maine camp, so do not expect high-end fixtures and fancy appliances. Kitchen and bathroom very basic but fully functional.
  • The cottage is in an amazing lcoation with unbelieveable access to beautiful beaches and walking. It feels like a true retreat. It is a stylish, comfortable space--well designed and efficient.

    Jen2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Loved staying in this "rustic" cabin in the woods. It had everything we needed & we managed quite well. The woodstove kept the cabin warm & cozy. To us the cabin was not rustic at all (inside bath, kitchen, etc). Has an eclectic decor with it's artwork, sculptures & some mid-century modern furniture. We loved it! The private beach was so gorgeous; truly we never encountered another soul. Pip is a great host who gets back to you very quickly. We had fun!!

    Loretta2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is an excellent retreat for two looking to get away for quiet and a good soak in the wilderness. The cabin's location is terrifically near both the ocean and great wooded walks.

  • If you want a quiet get-away, steps from one of the most beautiful beaches in Maine, in a cozy cabin in the woods, this place is for you! Comfy bed, comfy day bed in the living room, and a fully applianced kitchen. It’s a well kept, rustic cabin with stylish flair! But the best part about it is the location. Small Point can’t be beat! ❤️

We are 10 minutes from downtown Bath with its great restaurants, local art & culture, including the exceptional Maritime Museum. 23 minutes from our door are the beaches of Popham State Park. We are 2 miles from the town public boat launch into the tidal waters of the New Meadows River and out to sea. In nearby Georgetown are the beaches of Reid State Park. You will love our quiet country setting, the privacy of your cozy room, the extensive cottage gardens, and pine forest we enjoy.
Your room on the second floor is quite private and secluded from the rest of the house. It has a unique, cozy, built-in double bed as well as built in drawers, a small refrigerator, electric teakettle, and an adjacent private bath, with shower-tub stall. The house was originally built in Bath on the Kennebec River and moved to this location. We suspect it was built by a shipbuilder, as the spaces are ship like tight. The stairs to the room are narrow and steep like in a ship or an old colonial house. European guests have commented that the space is reminiscent of European houses.
  • If you want peace and quiet this is your place. There are no frills but Maryanna and Peter were wonderful hosts and there home is in a beautiful area only around 10 minutes from Bath. Good value. Highly recommended!

    Sandra2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is cozy, and the private room and bathroom are up their own staircase (although there is another room, adjacent to the bedroom, that the host still uses while there are guests). It is convenient to the coast and to the nearby towns of Bath and Brunswick. The hosts were thoughtful about arranging their schedule so they would be there when we arrived and when we checked out.

  • This was a cozy home about a 10 or so minute drive from downtown Bath. Both the owners were lovely people. The accommodations themselves were a decent size bedroom and bathroom on the second floor, where everything was clean and tidy on arrival, and came with a convenient coffee/tea setup in room. All in all, my wife and I really enjoyed our stay and our hosts. Definitely recommend.

  • This was such a sweet spot. The location feels relaxing but still close to everything. Maryanna and her husband were so warm and kind, and the whole place had such charm. Cammie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Brian and Cammie's cottage for two nights in early February. There was a storm the evening I arrived. Brian communicated that there was a power outage in the area and and to check in that the back up generator was working. Upon arrival, it was not. However, Brian was readily available via phone/text and did everything he could that evening to attempt resolution from a distance (making phone calls to local utility companies, sending the electrician out the next day and offering to refund my chilly evening without power). I was relieved when the power was restored the the following morning as Popham Beach is truly beautiful (even in the winter!). I was really looking forward to enjoying the area. Despite this relatively minor inconvenience I would highly recommend their cottage. It was cozy, very clean, quiet and an ideal location for a little getaway. Bonus that I was able to bring my two pups- they had a blast running on the beach!

    Kelly2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The place looked great, very nicely renovated! Would definitely come back for another stay!!

    Andrew2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a relaxing stay at Cammie and Brian’s cottage. The kitchen was well equipped, the shower was roomy, the couch was cozy and the bed was the first memory foam mattress that was actually comfortable for us. Though it was cold and windy, we dressed for the weather and enjoyed walking the beach down toward Popham.

    Lynn2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay here. It was such a nice place, super clean & modern. It was a beautiful location. We will definitely be back!

    Kayla2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was sparklingly clean and right next to the beach. Despite the power outage had a great time.

    Peter2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Cammie’s home near Popham Beach. A beautiful setting that allowed us space to rest and relax. Definitely check out the state park nearby for beautiful beach views!

  • This is a really awesome spot. Great beach area and you can see the sunrise from the front porch. You feel like you’re in a world of your own. Only downside was the shower, the water pressure was poor and not a lot of hot water. So ladies with long hair, you can always pop into Bath to have a shampoo blow dry.

  • Only one word describes this place. Perfect! You can not ask for a more stylish Airbnb and a scenic area. Would recommend to anyone.

  • Stay here! To begin with, the cabin itself is beautifully decorated, comfortably furnished, and has all the amenities to provide a luxurious stay. The cabin overlooks a bay such that one can begin their day on the deck with a hot cup of coffee watching the tide, away from the sounds and sights of modernity. While out of the way and secluded, the Small Point location allows exploration of nearby communities (Bath, Phippsburg, Brunswick, etc), some top-notch exploration opportunities (Popham Beach State Park (and Fort), Morse Mountain, and Acadia is 3 hrs away if you're feeling ambitious), and Portland is around an hour away (so many great things to see there). Gary skills as a host are unmatched. To our delight, we followed his recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants and as a result experienced the community more holistically than we would have otherwise. I highly recommend staying here, though your reservation will have to contend with my own as I will be returning at the next opportunity. Enjoy!

  • The view is gorgeous, the house stylish and well-appointed. If you’re looking for a cozy getaway, this is it!

    Kassie2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Stay here!!!!!!!! You will be delighted with so many unexpected touches! The location is far enough away to allow your soul to be recharged, however not too far away that you can’t explore! We arrived just before dark and were greeted by Gary immediately. He was very hospitable and so was his home. He even had a fire lit for us and be warned it heats up the place fast! It’s beautifully designed and decorated! He is an art collector and a lot of Maine local art. The home has a “contemporary Scandinavian flavor that leaves you wanting more! We would return and hope to in the future. The property is on the water and waking up to the view was therapeutic, just what we needed to recharge our souls! We couldn’t believe the “quiet”, nature delights you in all ways in this Maine sanctuary!!!!! It was lovely to watch the tide roll out and the birds fishing. Gary has provided just about anything that you would need in his guest space. We were able to BBQ the first night and we found everything needed for dinner and clean up! The water was hot when needed and the place was spotless! What a sweet spot! Thank again Gary!

  • Awsome cottage, even better than the expected

    Emma2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • A light-filled, cozy Scandinavian studio cottage filled with incredible art. A private deck overlooking birches, pines, and egrets fishing at low tide; privacy, but only 20 minutes from Bath. Incredible hospitality.

    Eva2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a stylish and secluded retreat with gorgeous views and a short drive from anything you need, this is it. Gary was communicative and kind, the property was gorgeous and exactly as advertised. I needed time away to recharge, read, and write. This was a perfect solo retreat. I would definitely come back—may even let my wife come along next time!

    Maggie2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Gary’s home is a work of art! The cottage is gorgeous, homey, private, well equipped and has an extremely comfy bed, looking at beautiful views of the water. Gary was very hospitable and provided great suggestions for the area. We will definitely be back soon!

Hand crafted vintage family cottage on the edge of high tide. " Back Camp " is very private, has beautiful views, access to private beach. Perfect for photographers, artists, paddling, birding or just relaxing. Has been enjoyed by family groups, couples, solo adventurers, and their well behaved animals. Includes separate bunkhouse.
  • Our only complaint is that we can’t stay forever...such a gem. Heaven, really.

    Jenn2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely incredible location with access to nearby Popham Beach and Hermit Island -although you can stare at the ocean out front and paddle and be pretty darn happy for days. Eliza is so nice - Camp is a special place.

    John2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • A great location for being and feeling out in the wild. Apart from the mosquitoes it is a great place for a family vacation with very little internet connection. מקום מדהים, מיקום נפלא על האוקיינוס, מלבד היתושים שמציקים בחוץ זה ממש גן עדן

    Aviad2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • This one of a kind 'cabin in the woods' is the classic experience we were looking for in Maine. A special rustic retreat, superbly equipped on multiple levels, reaffirmed our belief in the restorative power of nature and the satisfaction of hard work. In our hearts a memory is kept honoring the space it is in and the living things surrounding it. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! Arlington, Virginia

  • Fabulous Maine Camp that reminds me of how camps used to be!

    Raymond2018-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Eliza's family home is just absolutely charming. A private rocky beach, beautiful large hearth in the living room, hammock on the porch, kayaks available, fire pit outside... You can't get better than that!

    Laura2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect secluded spot with many adventures to be had. We had an amazing week at this cozy cabin!

    Charity Bryan2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Eliza's Back Camp is truly a throwback to another era. Rustic, with updated amenities. Camp is the best description. The solar system worked well, but water pressure is very low, so think camp when showering. Located on a beautiful property with an amazing view of the ocean and tidal river. Beaches and tide pools are within short walking and kayaking distance. Access for kayaking is just steps from the house. The house was airy and yet cozy when it rained with a wonderful fireplace. The outdoor fire pit area was well built and a pleasure to have. Eliza is a wonderful host and ensured we had everything we needed.

Charming cottage on a beautiful island near marina, beaches, restaurants, and hiking trails. Wonderful mid-coast Maine location for lots of possibilities for outdoor adventures, antiquing, visiting art galleries and shops, and enjoying delicious cuisine. The cottage has everything you need for a peaceful getaway. Decorated with natural elements and local art pieces to get you in the mood for this beautiful location.
Here is the GuideBook I made for the space. It's under our other listing https://www.airbnb.com/things-to-do/rooms/14293135 Camp Fire available upon request If you need a later check out time, please request it :)
Robinhood neighborhood on Georgetown Island. Quiet road and peaceful, natural setting. Walk down the road to the AMC hut for water views and nice uphill climb on the way back. Less than a mile from the Robinhood Free Meetinghouse which has a variety of events including live music, Sunday brunch, WIFI, morning coffee, and pop-up restaurants. The Anchor Inn (Osprey Restaurant) and Marina are just around the corner as well. Only 10 minutes from Bath, 15 minutes to Reid State Park, and 50 minutes from Portland, makes this a highly desirable location!
  • Marcella's place is perfect for someone who wants a nice quiet stay in the area but not too far from local attractions. It was very clean and very cozy and well stocked with coffee, tea and essentials needed to cook meals. Check in and out was very easy. I highly recommend Marcella's if you are traveling to the area. If you are coming to the Shelter Institute, it is about a 15 minute drive but off Route 1 which is very busy and loud all night long. I know that because I switched to Marcella's place half way through my stay because staying off Route 1 was so loud.

    Greg2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is an absolute work of art, so clearly built by hand with care, and a place that honors Maine and the land and nature of this great state. Marcella and her husband are incredibly kind, communicative, helpful. Their cottage is delightfully rustic yet loaded with all the luxuries. It was a treat to stay here for two nights and it was so convenient to town, nature, ocean. I would highly recommend you book this if it’s available. It’s a perfect spot for a visit to Maine.

    Kelly2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Island Alchemy cottage! It was an adorable place, and it was clean and had everything we needed. It's in a quiet, woodsy area while still being close to Bath; it was a great location for the things we wanted to visit in the mid-coast area. The state park pass was a wonderful extra (and the state parks nearby are very worth going to)! We would love to stay here again if we came back to the area.

    Nathan & Diane2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Alchemy Cottage was charming, comfortable, and clean. It was perfectly situated for our visits to gorgeous Reid State Park and fascinating Boothbay Harbor, with plenty of good seafood nearby. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

  • Nothing but praise re all aspects

    Bob2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • If peace and quiet is what you want, Alchemy Cottage is the spot! Unlimited wireless was a bonus since TV was pleasantly absent.

    Karen2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! Well worth the price of admission , Marcella is super quick on responses which is great and the place itself is super cute. My girlfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend for my birthday and it was so quiet and peaceful and serene. The included park pass is a nice touch and I love the faucet in the bathroom! Will definitely stay here again!

    Chris2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Expect to stay at a clean, tidy and very cozy place. The cottage is an experience in and of itself. It is very thoughtfully decorated and laid out. And Marcella is a lovely, considerate host. The area has lots of things to see. Mostly nature and state parks. There's a great beach and cute little fisherman's villages nearby. Then there's Bath itself, which is nice to check out. Marcella's got plenty of recommendations for the area and so do the locals.

  • Deborah and her husband are very responsive hosts, and the house is exactly as advertised. We had a large group here for a week, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay - the beach and setting are beautiful. One of the better airbnb experiences I have had.

  • The house offers an amazing view of the beach and the ocean. It's full of light, amazingly well-equipped and decorated. We had the best time there and we would book it once again if we were to come back to Maine. A huge thank you to the hosts for having us.

  • We were delighted to stay in this beachfront home. The house is lovely and offers all of the key amenities you need while on vacation. We stayed in early April, and although it was cold and windy, we enjoyed several beach walks - including to Popham State Park. Beach views from the home are great.

Stay healthy!! We are booked for now, but hope to see you this summer! You're invited to enjoy a tastefully furnished, private apartment among the treetops. Above our quiet home only two blocks from downtown and central in the MidCoast area. Bowdoin College is a half mile away, less than a ten minute walk. The BR has a memory foam queen mattress, a small full bath and a well equipped kitchen. Built in 1960, the unit is relaxing, well appointed, very clean with oak floors.
Nestled up in the tree tops, your apartment looks over a wooded back yard and creek. It's an older house (though not by Maine standards) so there are some quirks and is a bit vintage by default. Although just two blocks from downtown Brunswick, you will feel like you have escaped the hustle and bustle of staying in town. Start your morning at the small seating area on the porch among the singing birds.
Our residential neighborhood is quiet and friendly. You will often see neighbors out and people walking to and from town. We have some of the oldest houses in Brunswick and you can still see the stars at night!
  • Our stay at Judi’s was wonderful! The space was so comfortable and thoughtfully decorated, it really felt like home. This second floor space felt very private and had a lot of natural light with windows overlooking a field. The space was very clean, had easy parking, and was very convenient to downtown Brunswick while being in quiet neighborhood area. The kitchen area was stocked with coffee and tea and had any flatware, dishes, glasses, and utensils that you might need. Judi was very friendly and communicative. I highly recommend a stay here!

    Cara2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Judi is a fantastic host! She was very responsive and helpful. Her place is very clean and neat, just what we were looking for. The bed linens and towels are extra soft and comfortable. Judi was extremely hospitable and catered to our specific needs. We will definitely stay here again.

    Sharon2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Judi's place is another level. Two different roasts of coffee to choose from, kitchen staples, toiletries aplenty, very comfortable bed/bedding, awesome eclectic decor, perfect location, books to browse, and of course Judi herself-Lovely!!!

    Janna2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Judi was a great host and the apartment is conveniently located within a few blocks of the downtown where there are many nice shops and restaurants. The living room sofa is large and very comfy as is the bed. The apartment is spotless in a quiet street and has all you may need for your stay. Judi is very responsive and was there to greet me and make sure lights outside were on and I had no questions.

    Maria2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Judi's apartment was very easy to locate and check-in was a breeze. Judi was very gracious and kept in communication throughout our trip. A wonderful getaway!

  • Great vacation spot!

    David2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay, the cabin is very close to the beach. This Air BnB would be perfect for a small family with kids. We all really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone on a family vacation.

    Alex2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and comfortable; a great family vacation! Not too far from the beach, but we were thankful to have a wagon to bring our beach camp back and forth. So nice to have a dishwasher and a washer/dryer, especially with kids. And the beds were extremely comfortable! Thank you for opening up your home, it was a fabulous week!
