Places to stay in Polk County
Remote, tranquil, quiet and exceedingly private getaway right on the banks of a protected river, only 1.5 hours from the Twin Cities! Even the beautiful drive there is relaxing. Enter a world of peace and calm deep in the woods. Make delicious meals in a well stocked high-end modern kitchen, play in the river, relax in the sauna or enjoy a bonfire. This is not your typical cabin but a spiritual eco-oasis with a unique eclectic blend of modern, rustic, Native American and Japanese aesthetic.
UPDATE: We are paying extra attention to cleaning and sanitizing this space. Our housekeeper Joann takes great pride in making sure every surface is sanitized for your safety. I have also reduced the price to help those in need of a place to self-quarantine. This is the perfect getaway, remote yet accessible, to get out of harms way and stay safe for a few relaxing days! Modern yet rustic, but not at all primitive, the cabin was built not only for maximum energy-efficiency, but with much care in providing a safe, non-toxic, all-natural environment. Comfortable sleeping spaces are provided with several options including a small private bedroom, a large futon in the living room under the skylights by the wood stove, or a small futon on the screen porch by the banks of the river. An easy scenic drive from the Twin Cities and its extremely tranquil and private setting, this is the perfect location for personal retreats for artists, writers, yoga practitioners, people in the healing arts or anyone in need of personal, spiritual or artistic creative rejuvenation. This is ideally suited to singles and couples looking a quiet getaway or personal retreat. Perfect for a romantic getaway! The long winding driveway leads to secluded, heavily wooded grounds that have many Japanese garden touches but are kept in a mostly natural state. Facilities include a large well-stocked modern kitchen with 6 burner professional stove, full bathroom with hot and cold running water and claw-foot tub (there is enough hot water for a shower but not enough to fill the tub unless heated supplementally on gas stove), gas heat, electricity, phone, wireless high-speed internet, modern wood-burning stove, 7 skylights, wood-fired sauna, screen porch on the river bank, an attached wooden deck with gas grill along the river, a gazebo (great for yoga), hammock (great for reading/napping), a large fire-pit with lots of wood provided, photo library and a high-resolution audio system with a great CD collection and wireless music streaming capabilities. This forest oasis alongside a protected trout stream is surrounded by hundreds of heavily wooded acres. Enjoy the rarity of total privacy- no one else is within sight or sound. The Trade River is very clean with a nice shallow, sand bottom is perfect for swimming, wading or frolicking. Or just sunbathe on the dock, clothing optional! • All electricity is produced by solar farms and bought from our local electric co-op. • All cleaning supplies are natural, non-toxic, chemical and dye free. • All new linens and towels are organic cotton (some old ones still in use while we phase in) It is built to accommodate more than 2 people but I like to keep it available for solo retreats and couples rather than larger groups. There is also a separate hand-built log cabin on the premises. The log cabin will not be occupied during your stay but can be rented additionally at https://airbnb.com/h/authenticlogcabin. To maintain a retreat-like atmosphere we only allow one or two guests at a time. Also, due to past guest abuse, we no longer allow pets. If you are traveling with pets or have more than two guests please check out my other nearby Airbnb cabin: the Wood River Retreat https://airbnb.com/h/woodriverretreat "Retreat to move forward" -Pico Iyer
Located far off the road at the end of a long winding driveway. While lake cabins can be like being in a goldfish bowl with no privacy; we have total seclusion on the river with no neighbors within sight or sound. We are surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest filled with many deer, fox, owl, wild turkeys, coyotes, otters, beaver, the occasional bear and much other wildlife.
  • A perfect get-away. My second time here and plotting to come back. Thanks Doug!!

    Kindra2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place to relax and grow! Waking up to rain on the skylights, deer drinking from the river, or wild turkeys walking across the lawn, each morning brought a new connection to nature. Truly a fantastic experience!

  • It’s hard to even know where to begin, since this was one of my favorite Airbnb stays to date! Doug’s cabin is filled with thoughtful touches that helped us have a very relaxing, restful weekend. We loved cooking meals in the well-stocked kitchen, listening to music on the super high quality sound system, and gazing out at the river while lounging on the cozy futon. The sauna and wood stove are a nice addition. Everything is so well-curated that it feels like home. Thanks, Doug!

    Lauren2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We've been visiting this cabin during the first week of March for 3 years now. Being less than a 1.5 hour drive from the Twin Cities, it's accessible in the winter no matter what the weather has in store. The space feels so cozy and clearly reflects host Doug's artistic and soulful aesthetic. The open floor plan has an oversized professional kitchen / dining room which opens up into a relaxing sitting area. This space has a wood burning stove, stereo and sweeping views of the river, the forest and the sky. This is a rustic retreat. You are going to be conscious of conserving water because of the noisy water pump and various notes reminding you of this endeavor. However, this is all part of the charm of the space. If you consider on-site compost, a wood burning sauna and calming spaces to meditate in as amenities (as we do), you're going to find a vacation spot that you'll want to return to indefinitely.

  • Beautiful and rare quiet, truly quiet, setting.

    Laura2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting in the woods on the serpentining Trade River. Cozy and full of spirit. We would love to stay again.

  • This was a wonderful get away from the business of life. Such a wonderful space to become one with nature and reconnect with ones self or a partner. The cabin was so unique with art, music and nature brought into to the space to help make one feel grounded & peaceful. I loved the extra’s like the yoga mats!! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for a wonderful get away. Thank you.

    Kellie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • In a word. Perfect! Clean. Quiet. Beautiful. Spacious. Calming and relaxing. We took advantage of the beautiful kitchen. The wood burning stove. The sauna. The stereo system. Just a perfect getaway to relax. Unwind. Unplug. And get engaged. Literally. And figuratively. Thanks Doug. This was a wonderful experience.

Little Bear Lodge is a cute little private retreat on Long Lake between Turtle Lake, Wisconsin and Cumberland, WI. Sleeps 4-6. The downstairs consists of a living room with sofa sleeper and kitchen area, and the upstairs loft has two queen beds. Drive past grazing cows and farm fields into the woods, onto a private road, and down our long winding wooded driveway to our private retreat
Guests love the seclusion of the cabin and the feeling of being immersed in nature.
Secluded cabin - enjoy nature and wildlife viewing, get away from it all!
  • Incredible stay! Perfect location to disconnect. Cabin was perfect for two with our two pups, and it felt like we were the only ones around for miles. We’ll definitely be back!

  • Peaceful cabin on a private lot with convenient access to Cumberland for shopping. The many water toys and swim dock were a huge plus and allow you to take full advantage of all the lake has to offer. This is a perfect get away. I look forward to staying there in the future.

  • Beautiful spot! Nicely furnished and decorated cabin. Loved the paddleboat rides we took every evening and the raft was an added bonus. Had cocktails on it one afternoon. The lake is so calm and quiet, it's like being all by yourself on a lake in the woods. Our dog loved exploring and riding in the paddleboat with us. My husband fished every morning and evening while I relaxed reading a book in the sun. Thanks, Stephanie! We were lucky to have a great host to respond quickly to any of our questions.

    Steven2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding property. Remote and comfortable. The wifi and local television helped us stay in touch and kept us apprised when the storm that hit. Stephanie and Eric are top notch hosts!! They were at the front door the morning after and made us their main priority, when they had multiple properties damaged. They went to work and cleared the driveway and allowed us to go home by the afternoon. Once again, AWESOME!!

Recently updated! New paint, toilet, and shower. Come enjoy country living just an hour north of the Twin Cities. Modernized guest house on 16 acres surrounded by rolling farmland and trees. Very peaceful and secluded with the sounds of nature all around. Visit Trollhaugen down the road for skiing or snowboard in the winter and zip lining in the summer. Located 10 minutes from Osceola, St. Croix Falls and Taylors Falls. Polk County ID #: 76776
Please be aware there are two large beds that will fit 2 guests each, as well as one couch. We have a high quality air mattress you can use as well, just let us know. Please send us a direct message if you're interested in bringing pets.
We live in a rural setting, but there are numerous things all within a 5-10 minute drive from our place. Get brunch at The Watershed Cafe in Osceola then walk down and see the falls. Get a taste of the north shore by hiking at Interstate State Park! Cross country ski on the Stower Seven Lakes Trail! Best of all, relax on the porch and watch the sun set.

  • Their farm is adorable! The view is amazing with farm fields, cute outbuildings and a nice trail to walk. A gem of a place in a rural area but close enough to the cities to get to quickly. We enjoyed our stay. The hosts were very attentive to any questions we had. Thank you for opening up your place to visitors.

Orchard House is one of three dwellings on Philadelphia Community Farm. A non-profit organization since 1989, PCF operates Buttermilk Falls CSA & Folk School Retreat. Orchard House was moved onto the property in 2003 and subsequently renovated as a place to host visiting groups. This is a century old house on a farm and all that that implies! If a natural sanctuary without all the frills is what you are seeking, you'll love this it. . Polk County ID #76756
Orchard House is an older farmhouse on a community farm surrounded by 300+ acres in conservation. Lots of natural light, a full kitchen, three season porch, wood floors and an inspiring library make this a homey stay that can accommodate a large group. Each of 3 large bedrooms is outfitted with a pair trundle bunk beds. Each of the 2 smaller room contains a trundle twin. That's 22 single beds!
Small town Osceola has the basics you'll need: grocery, liquor & hardware stores, farm-to-table restaurant, Art Barn, a minor league baseball team, bowling alley, and of course, bars (it's WI after all). There's a beautiful waterfall, Cascade Falls, in town. Osceola is not far from Trollhaugen, Franconia Sculpture Park, Interstate State Park, and several wineries.
  • This is a relaxed and beautiful stay where you can have space for a large group. Outdoor amenities abound!

  • What a wonderful spot! The house is quite large, all the rooms have lots of single beds so easy to accommodate many. A fully stocked kitchen, cute living room, and beautiful property to explore (with cute animals!). Christina is a great host and very communicative. A lovely place for a get together with friends. Would highly suggest! Thanks again Christina!

    David2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • There were plenty of beds available. They were quite comfortable even being bunk beds and trundle beds. Having the large kitchen table with bench seating was nice for allowing our group of 7 to be able to eat together. Almo (the dog) greeted us warmly and didn't awaken us during the night. We would definitely consider staying here again.

    Alan2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as described! This is, as described, a large, old farmhouse that accommodates many people! The kitchen had most of the things that we needed to make a meal. The heating was comfortable. Going on a hike accompanied by our canine tour guide was THE BEST, our favorite part of the visit!

    Heather2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was perfect for our wedding weekend. The bridal party and many of our wedding guests were able to stay here comfortably. It’s a beautiful place, and our host was wonderful in providing extra linens for those traveling far. It was so great to have so many people stay here together for the weekend!

You’ll get a cozy and comfortable layout, access to attached garage, and assistance just a message away!

Osceola is a great small town with charming businesses and easy access to hiking, biking, and snowmobiling and ATV trails. We strive to make every newcomer welcome whether it be Airbnb guests or new neighbors—all in the name of small town hospitality. Although large box stores aren’t part of our local culture, we’re conveniently situated 10 minutes south of St. Croix Falls which offers easy one-stop shops, 30 minutes from larger towns such as Hudson, WI and Forest Lake, MN, and under 1 hour from the sprawling Twin Cities. Here’s the breakdown— One block away from laundry, two blocks from the grocery store, and a couple more from unique downtown shops, restaurants, Cascade Falls, and our very own dinner train. A few minute drive out of town to the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, Interstate Park, Wisconsin rustic scenic trails, Trollhaugen skiing and adventure park, and what Wisconsin is best known for—rolling hills and homegrown agriculture and farms. Less than an hour drive to St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota—both offering great venues for eating, shopping, and entertainment. Need more space or have more guests? Check out our 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on the same property! https://www.airbnb.com/h/combacker-estate-osceola-wi

I appreciated the simple, clean décor style – and what a treat to have my own garage to park in. So much to do in this small town – and most within walking distance. Restaurants, shopping, hiking – Allison has brochures and info about what’s in the area. It’s easy to understand why she is a Superhost!

Renovated to resemble the original build over 100 years ago. Relax near the wood burning stove in the structure of shaved timbers. Hike around the creek bed on the 20 acre parcel or for the more adventurous the adjoining 50,000 acres of DNR land.
Many photo opportunities around rustic barn. Great for evening bonfire. Shooting Range for long guns or pistols. This abandoned farm is an excellent property for hunting. Please note this is a cabin, there is heated running water, but no refrigerator. Plan on bringing a cooler to keep food and beverage cold. Kuerig coffee maker is ready to go so bring your pods. There is no conventional oven, we use an electric griddle, hot plate or crockpot for cooking. These are at the property for you. There is unlimited space for setting up tents or other camping structures.
    Rural and secluded.

  • This cabin provides the perfect getaway to reset and enjoy sometime unplugged. It is a beautiful 100 year old charming cabin set on what used to be a farm. We spent time snowshoeing around the property and at Crex State Wildlife Area, stopped at the brewery in Grantsburg and did lots of reading by the fire at the cabin.

A little cabin in the woods, remodeled in 2001. The bedroom is the loft accessible only by a log ladder. Limited tv access and no wi-fi. • This is a comfortable, quiet and secluded location. The pictures are accurate. Jonna was very responsive to our messages. We had a very relaxing stay.

    Robert2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jonna’s place was a lovely weekend getaway! It had all the necessary amenities and the host left several notes explaining everything we needed to know to enjoy our trip. She was easy to contact and extremely friendly. The loft overlooking the lake is something I wish I could wake up to every morning!

    Ifeoluwa2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting and quiet retreat. Jonna was quick to answer any questions and the space was perfect for a quiet weekend. It rained all Saturday and we took full advantage of the quiet, the coziness and the scrabble board. We were even able to take a short ride in the canoe when the rain subsided for a few moments.

    Julie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location and unique setting. Loved the loft bedroom and the view was great. A few areas of the home are still under some cosmetic construction but nothing that interferes with daily living. Would absolutely reccomend this location as a quiet getaway.

    Madisen2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jonna’s place was the perfect package. We went as a mini moon after our wedding and it exceeded expectations! The loft sleep felt like you were in a treehouse. It was very quiet and peaceful. We took the canoe out on the lake and it was beautiful. Highly recommend this cozy getaway!

    Becca2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great space! Really feels like youre out in the middle of nowhere. Close enough to go into town and do stuff, but far enough where you feel like youre in the middle of the woods. Loved the cabin! Treehouse like for sure!! Has everything you'll need for a getaway!

  • Jonna was a wonderful host. It was clean and had great amenities . Very easy to communicate with. The cabin had a spectacular view of the lake. Loved the upstairs loft. You had a great view of the lake from bed! Very quiet and peaceful !I would highly recommend staying here!

  • What a treat! The geodesic dome is definitely unique. As is being surrounded by woods. Our easy going nature matched Tom’s. To top it off, I needed a massage for my stiff neck, and he had availability in his massage schedule.

  • Lovely property and hosts. Beautiful rural setting just a quick drive to town and a much loved coffee spot (Coffee Talk). Very accommodating hosts. Roomy, comfortable, spotless apartment. And dogs. A bit bark-y at first but they are warm up quickly.

    Eliza2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Even though we never got to meet Maryjo on our stay, she still had everything ready for us. Great place to hang you hat after a day of hiking, wineries and breweries.

    Debbie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Maryjo's place. The unit was so well decorated, comfortable, and checked all the amenities boxes for a quick weekend stay. We were in Taylors Falls for a wedding, but continue to comment on how we would love to find a reason to come back to the area and stay here again. Highly recommend!

The Lodge on Pipe Lake is a spacious executive retreat roomy enough to hold a large family gathering. The Lodge is far enough away from the Twin Cities to feel "Up North", yet close enough that you can make it to the Lake during your little ones' naps.
Great Room, Kitchen and Dining Room The Lodge has an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings in the great room, yet remains a warm and inviting home away from home. The great room has access to the main deck and a smaller deck off the master bedroom. Windows line three walls of the great room looking out onto this quiet end of North Pipe Lake, making this space perfect for wild life viewing and watching the gorgeous sunsets. A field stone, floor to ceiling, see through fireplace and a baby grand piano make this room so inviting it will be hard to leave! A fully equipped kitchen, with Sub Zero appliances, is a cook's dream. A six burner stove with a built in grill and double oven allows for easy, large meal preparation. The over sized fridge is perfect for large gatherings. The kitchen and connected expansive dining room also have floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lake. The dining room shares the see through fireplace and is perfect for chilly nights and long board game tournaments. However, throughout the spring, summer and fall, the protected western exposure of the main deck allows comfortable outdoor dining. Bedrooms The master bedroom, with a window wall overlooking the lake, has a private entrance to one of the three decks. Little ones can share a room right off the master suite if they need to be closer to mom and dad. A large master bath with a soaking tub and separate shower makes this a true master retreat. Need some time away from the kids? This home is the perfect place - a fully insulated walkout level allows kids to have their own space yet close off their bedrooms should they need some privacy too. A separate "parent" bedroom in the walkout level allows a second set of parents to be on that level too. Windows and patio doors allow a spectacular view of the lake even for the kids. There is a wet bar and full bath in the walk out level making this a great home for two families to share. Outdoor Spaces The yard is shaded with a combination of white and red pine as well as beautiful hard wood trees including maples and oaks. Fall colors are spectacular and memories are made around the large fire pit as you roast hot dogs and eat those tasty s'mores. Take a short stroll down the steps to the lake where a large, newer pontoon is available for rent for those sunset cruises. Afternoons are spent fishing on this walleye/bass/pan fish lake, swimming, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking or just floating in the lake. Perhaps you just want to curl up with a good book on the front screened porch to enjoy the fresh air. Later you might use the porch for a late night chat or card game should the weather not be agreeable. The kitchen and dining room exit onto the huge deck made for entertaining with a large grill and easy access to the built in hot tub. The third lower deck has a hot tub that overlooks the lake and seats eight and provides a special view of a sky without light pollution. We dare you to try to count the stars!
The Lodge is situated on one of the best lakes in the area. The cabin is on smaller North Pipe Lake which is connected to the larger and fully recreational Pipe Lake. Both are great fishing lakes, the water stays clear throughout the season and Pipe has a nice swimming beach. The area is heavily wooded and has that true "up north" feeling.
  • This cabin is very clean, beautiful, and a great retreat! The views of the lake from the hot tub and from the fire pit cannot be beat. They had basically every amenity you could think of and their welcome letter has a good amount of detail so that you can plan your packing to perfection. My friends and I had a great cozy weekend away and anyone would not regret staying here!

    Jessica2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful lake home with a lot of space for large groups. Great kitchen and downstairs area and a beautiful view ! Would’ve loved coming here in the summer to enjoy a fire and the view of the lake.

    Sarah2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time. The cabin is beautiful! The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, dishes, small appliances and pots and pans. Spent most of our time in the hot tub. The cabin is well big enough for our group of 8 adults.

    Zaneete2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Lodge is a beautiful place for a winter getaway! It's large enough for people to gather over meals and conversation, but also get away for quiet reading or down time. We love cooking in the well appointed kitchen, and walking and snow shoeing on the lake. It's clean and cozy, and the hot tub is an extra treat!

    Liz2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was a home away from home. I loved the remote location and the beautiful views around it. Wildlife was abundant and the snow-covered trees were an amazing sight to see. The cabin is so beautiful and the amenities give it a luxurious touch. The hot tub was a great night cap. We spent our time with family touring the surrounding towns and cities, got in a few days of hunting at the public land just 8 minutes away, and watched netflix at night with drinks and snacks. The heat in the house works very well and the kitchen was a bonus. We made a big french toast breakfast one day and the oven worked perfectly. We cant wait to come stay again!

    Sabrina2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. We will be back!

    Tammie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect space for our group, we had 6 folks and a baby and there were plenty of bedrooms to accommodate privacy for everyone. Nice big kitchen and table for family meals and enough spots in the living room for everyone to lounge. It was an easy, fairly short, drive from the Twin Cities. They accommodated our request to check in 2 hours early which was a huge help (gotta keep that baby on a nap schedule!). Beautiful home!

    Sam2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful home will bring peace to your vacation. There is space for everyone and plenty of fun to be had. I would recommend this lovely home to anyone.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Dave is a friendly and welcoming host, the location (directly across the road from a lake) is lovely, and the screened-in porch lets you relax and listen to the sounds of the woods while being safely out of reach of any mosquitos. The place also comes equipped with all of the comforts of home, and then some. It's a perfect spot for anyone attending an event in the area of Scandia or Marine on St Croix, and we especially recommend a hike at nearby William O'Brien State Park.

    Wayne2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Dave's place is absolutely beautiful!! Gorgeous gardens, butterflies included!! We loved the contemporary space on a gorgeous lake! We enjoyed the local beach mentioned in Dave's listing, Meister's Bar and just a night away with our Pup Mya. We also enjoyed grilling our breakfast on the incredible screened in porch. Overall wonderful stay and we will be back! Thanks Dave!!

  • Dave and Jane are wonderful hosts and their relaxing rental is as well! Dave was very helpful and responsive with questions before and after I booked. The rental itself is conveniently located between Marine-on-St Croix and Scandia so anything you might need is just a few miles away. The place is very clean, attractive, and has lovely views of the beautiful lake and flowers from the property. I will miss the loons, porch, dock, comfy bed, books, and the great coffee and breakfast treats that were provided. My dog Rex will miss the birds, his long walks and the yummy heart shaped dog treat left for him by our accommodating hosts when we arrived.

    Jackie2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Dave met us as soon as we arrived, and showed us around their great place. We enjoyed grilling in the screened-in porch, and trying the blueberry jam he left for us. Going to sleep and waking up to the sounds of nature was a great way to relax. We even took out the canoe and saw a pair of loons.

Although we are off of Main Street, road noise is usually limited in the Copper Room but feel free to bring a fan or earplugs if very sensitive to noise - we want you to have a great sleep! In western Wisconsin, St. Croix Falls has become a destination for people who want to go places. It's the western terminus of the 1,000-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail, which traces the last glacier as it began to melt and retreat northward, leaving a marvelously lumpy patchwork of rock, rubble and river gorges. It's the southern trailhead of the 48-mile Gandy Dancer State Trail, a scenic crushed-limestone bicycle trail named for the rail workers who rhythmically swung pickaxes and hammers made by the Gandy Tool Co. And it's the headquarters of the 252-mile St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, with a new visitors center that helps paddlers plan trips from the Namekagon to the St. Croix's confluence with the Mississippi. There are another 12 trails in Interstate State Park, which became Wisconsin's first state park in 1900 and is the start of the Ice Age Trail.
  • Fun cute place! Great access to downtown and close to the state parks!

Just a little over an hour from the Twin Cities, this lakefront property has all you need for that perfect summer vacation. Located on beautiful Balsam Lake, this unit comes with two complete living spaces, making it perfect for large groups who want to vacation together but also want some privacy, couples looking for a romantic getaway, or business colleagues looking for a retreat. Swimming, fishing, bird watching, great walks, the Leeland cabin has it all. Memories are made at the lake!
This up and down cabin has two bedrooms upstairs and one down, along with sofa sleepers on both floors. Each level has its own kitchen, bath and living room so there is plenty of room for guests to spread out and engage in separate activities. Movies downstairs don't interfere with card games on the upper level. The two well-appointed kitchens make feeding a crew of hungry vacationers easy, and with two refrigerators, there is plenty of space to store all your food and beverages so you don't have to spend loads of time running to the store. The lower level of the cabin is level with the lake and there is a dock on the property for tying up boats, fishing and sunbathing. The upper level has a deck and there is a covered patio off the lower level. The yard is spacious and offers plenty of space for marshmallow roasts, barbecue, and lawn games.
Balsam Lake is a 1901 acre lake located in Polk County. It has a maximum depth of 37 feet. There are several public boat landings and plenty of good fishing. Fish include Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye. Several small towns are located near the lake, offering shopping, dining and some recreational opportunities. The museum in Balsam Lake is always a fun outing. The property is located in what is commonly known as the "Narrows" of the lake, which shelters it from wind. Mirror-like water is not uncommon on nice afternoons, making it ideal for water sports.
  • Seriously I cannot think of words that could possibly do justice to our impressions of Brad and Laura’s place. My family went over Christmas and they even had decorations out! The amenities actually shocked us and I needn’t have brought any cooking utensils or spices or pans or even coffee. Extremely well equipped is not an overstatement. If you’re on the fence, you couldn’t do any better. Cheers to Brad and Laura and many thanks.

  • There is something very special about Laura and Brad's cabin! We used it for a girls get away weekend and it couldn't have been a more perfect place. It is spacious, comfortable and the views are spectacular. It had everything we were looking for and so much more. We would book this wonderful place again without any hesitation. 5 Stars all around!!

  • What a lovely place! The lake was beautiful in the fall! The house was perfect for our 3 generation fall trip. It was much bigger than we pictured it to be and had a great layout. Coffee on the deck in the summer would be fabulous! It was very well stocked with kitchen and bathroom needs. I don't think one weekend was enough, we'll have to plan for more next time. Thanks Laura and Brad!

  • We wanted to get away from the cities for MEA days and found this beautiful cabin on lake Largon. You can tell it's all been completely remodeled on the inside and looks like just a perfect idea of a cabin. We had a little hiccup with the heat on the first night but when we called Evolve they answered immediately and helped us right away. I would like to come back here sometime in the summer when it's warmer so that we can make use of their generously provided boats and hammock. It was a great first Air BnB experience!

  • Great cabin! Cozy fireplace, family friendly and beatiful views. It was as you would expect from the pictures. Would definitly recommand.

  • Exceeded expectations. Poor planning caused us to not bring cooking supplies, luckily the host had everything we needed already there

    Steven2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed this quiet little lake and exploring it in the kayaks and paddleboat. The dock was nice and we had a great campfire on our last night. Inside, the cabin was very comfortable for our group. We like to cook and found everything we needed in the kitchen. There are lots of games and fishing gear on the big, comfy porch.

    Audrey2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here with my sisters-in-law and the kids. There was plenty of room for 3 adults and 3 kids. We especially loved the low-traffic driveway and local road for the kids to ride bikes. We also loved the screen porch and kayaks & paddle boats. One suggestion is to bring your own drinking water because the cabin had hard water. Great place overall! I would stay again.

    Sara2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Cozy Cabin was such a dream! We had 3 generations that stayed there and it was the best time. The lake is literally in the backyard, and it comes with the best games, amenities, and scenery anyone could ask for. We went on paddle boats, played backyard games together, and got to have the sweetest time as a big family. The beds were super comfortable and there was ample blankets, towels, cookware. It felt like our own get away house. Thank you for creating such a warm space - we will never forget our weekend away! :)

    Saba2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a fantastic stay at the cabin on Largon Lake! It was beautiful and the cabin was cozy!

    Angie2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Book it! You will not regret it, you will find a box full games to play . Go for a ride on the kayaks, do some Fishing and share some of your best stories by the campfire. There are several state parks that you can visit .

Large, family friendly 4-bedroom, 3-bath cabin is just an 80 minute drive from the Twin Cities. Located on a secluded peninsula on Lake McKeith, this cabin has lake views from almost every room. Sun or snow, it's a great place to escape to all year round!
This three-level cabin gives plenty of space for large groups of friends and family to hang out and relax. The cabin includes a two-and-a-half car unheated garage with darts, ping pong, foosball and a pool table.
The cabin is located in the St. Croix River Valley which has a host of activities year round. Great fishing and boating during the summer, be it on the lake or down on the St. Croix River. Numerous snowmobile trails, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing opportunities right outside the front door in the winter. Two wineries are located just a short drive from the cabin, as well. Lots of state parks and hiking trails are also nearby.
  • This place is awesome! Well taken care of and it has anything you need. No need to pack towels, sheets or any cooking supplies. Perfect stay.

    Alexander2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here with our two daughters, their spouses, and our grandchildren. The cabin was perfect for our family with each family had their own floor and bathroom. We enjoyed gathering around the fireplace, morning coffee on the deck, and happy hour on the porch. The dining room offered great views of the sunrises and sunsets. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed and more. Jordan was quick to answer any question I had prior to our arrival. It was a great stay--thank you!

    Julie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Jordan’s place again! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy, family friendly location!

  • Great house with lots of room. Super clean and cozy. Had everything we needed. Jordan was also quick to respond to any questions. Recommended!

    Katherine2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Jordan was awesome to work with, and responded so quickly, and had great information. Their lake home was beautiful, cozy and immaculate. We had everything we needed for our Thanksgiving holiday. There were directions for everything, and it was so easy to feel right at home. I would give it a “10” and we hope to be back, again.

    Patty Healy2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect retreat for family time. The cabin has everything you need and more and is stunning!

    Amanda2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is much bigger than the pictures make it seem, it was super clean, and secluded enough to be quiet and calm. Everything was great despite it being rainy outside. Even though we didn't get to enjoy the kayaks and the lake because of the rain, it was still fun as there was plenty to do inside. The decor also made it feel very cozy.

    Samuel2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect getaway with plenty of space for multiple families or groups, lots of toys, games, and activities for all. The cabin is a great mix of cabin and home, comfortable, spacious, yet cozy. The house is totally stocked with anything you would need. This is our third stay and we will be back again! Location has some fun activities nearby too such as wineries and hiking. It is not on a large lake but very peaceful and quiet, and large enough to canoe or kayak. Another big plus is how close it is to the cities.

  • Amazing place. 5 stars all around. Extremely clean and comfortable with a plethora of amenities. Communicative and helpful hosts. Over and above really. Beautiful area and very accessible by road even during winter. Maybe the listing should have mentioned it was a part of their house. House separated the air bnb space by 1 door although it is advertised as an independent structure. Host walking by window outside etc. Privacy was respected but that is just worth mentioning.

  • My friend and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. We were particularly impressed with how clean it was and the thoughtful touches throughout. Two examples we used were the hiking trail literature she had on premises, which we used to plan our hike and the little bars of soap, which I used since I forgot my shower soap. We loved the upstairs where there were two sleeping areas for us. The beds were super comfortable and we both slept really well. We loved the location and the close walk to the lake. There were several seating areas throughout with tables, lights, and blankets close by, making for very comfy relaxing time. We both commented several times how impressed we were with everything. We highly recommend it.

    Terri2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was way better that we expected. Pictures do not tell you the story but once when you enter the house it feels cozy and relaxing. Initially we reserved the place for two nights and had to extend it for another night, that lovely was the place. We definitely recommend for a quick weekend getaway from twin cities. Host Brenda was very communicative, she was there to greet us and gave us a quick tour of the place. We would like to comeback in Summer.

    Sunil2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of sleeping space. Quiet and charming

    Cindy2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cleanliness, comfort and amenities of this cozy place make you feel like you're "at home." Brenda, Beth and Barb are wonderful hostesses! The deer and other wildlife on the property are fun to watch. Next time we'll have to come at a warmer time of year to enjoy the outdoors. Who would have expected snow on October 12th in Wisconsin!

    Anna2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • What you see is what you get! Alittle cozy cabin not far from anything!! Fully stocked house that is kept very clean. Brenda is a great host and is willing to help out anyway she can to make your stay truly magnificent :)

    Jamie2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location - farm fields, trees and a lake as neighbors. Amenities were beyond expected with items such as metal sticks for roasting marshmallows, marshmallows, paper plates, cozy blankets in the living room, movies, games, kayaks... My family and I would visit again!

    Heather2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda does a great job of explaining the house and everything in the area upon arrival. She even gave us a brief on her family's history in the area The house was everything you'd expect - plus much more. Everything was clean and in place - the house was had every amenity you would need - and the little signs around the house were able to guide you through any question. The house was the perfect place for us. The bedroom on the 1st floor was perfect for my parents, and the bedrooms on the 2nd floor was perfect for our privacy. The house had all the comforts of home, plus some very well received touches (like water, snacks, towels, maps, etc - even deer in the yard during our breakfast!!!). They really did a great job with this place. It might be my first and only time near Grantsburg - but in the chance we do return, we would definitely stay there again. I would recommend it to anyone staying in the vicinity.

Truly the most unique place you might ever stay in! Mosaic tiles, original turn-of-the century cabinets and sink, artistic rustic touches everywhere. I lovely reading corner with full library has recently been added. But, with modern conveniences like a Keurig machine, microwave, flat screen tv with cable, gas fireplace, shower in the claw-foot tub, and of course, a luxurious bed and linens.
  • Great place and great host! Clean and well stocked. The decorations and mosaics are amazing as well.

  • Easy to give 5 stars and highly recommend the Artist Loft. Rhonda was helpful throughout our stay, keeping in touch and even making preparations for our late arrival on our check-in day. Directions were easy to follow on all accounts and very thorough. The Loft itself is gorgeous, cozy, and such a little slice of paradise. For us, when we needed a weekend away, it was perfect.

    Clayton2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This loft is a great find in an area full of great outdoor activities and local restaurants. I enjoyed exploring the surrounding area during the day, and had the nights and mornings to relax in the loft. Rhonda was easy to get in touch with and left great personal touches. Can’t wait to go back!

  • The Artist's Loft is exactly what you hope to find when looking for a thoughtful place to explore Taylor's Falls and St. Croix Falls. My husband, our 7 month old boy and myself spent an unforgettable Valentine's weekend there. The mosaic tile details all over will leave you breathless. The kitchen is inviting and open, the bedroom cozy and detailed. Hostess was wonderful in providing a pack and play and easy check in! Can't wait to stay again! <3

  • Rhonda was a great host. Communicated easily, and welcomed us with a funky, cool space - really enjoyed the loft. Everything was clean and well taken care of. Would stay again!

  • This is a beautiful location and rental- very comfortable, trendy and stylish without too much stuffiness. It is quite lovely, with lots of amenities and Rhonda was very helpful and responsive. It is also located in a good area of the town. We’d certainly rent again!

  • The perfect spot for our girls’ weekend! The space accommodated all 6 of us with plenty of room to spare and large enough common areas where we could hang out together. Would definitely stay again!

  • Jen was extremely helpful through the booking process and incredibly responsive and adaptable to our needs. I would very much recommend her place. I hope to be back next year.

    Curt2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful lake home! Tons of space to be with our big family- including 7 adults and 5 children. And enough room to spread out and have quiet space when we needed. We enjoyed walking on the frozen lake and playing games and catching up with family indoors. We will definitely stay again!

    Sean2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Place was super cute!!! It was very clean and the owners were very responsive and provided lots of tips on things to do in the area, and lots of detailed instructions on the house. The master bedroom was a bit tight, not a ton of space after the bed was in there. A great addition would be a tv in there!! The bathrooms were stocked with nice and fluffy towels, lots of counter space which is a huge plus!! The loft is adorable and perfect for kids! The game machine is amazing, super fun and brings back great memories! The bedroom downstairs is nice and quiet, perfect for if you have little ones that need to sleep in a pack and play and have some quiet space. The other bedroom is right of family room and kitchen area so probably not the quietest place in the house but still nice! I would say that the only downfall is that there is no washer and dryer which we did not need for a weekend but would want if we stayed in the summer. I think they plan to add a dryer but it would be nice to have both!! Overall very nice place and decorated super cute!!

    Jennifer2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent communication, fully equipped kitchen/ cabin, very clean cabin, fun things to do in the area.

  • Horseshoe Haven was a great place for a meetup with friends! It was nice and accommodating for our big group, with plenty of parking & beds, extra blankets, and everything else we could need! Plenty of games makes this a great place to stay, rain or shine. Jen was quick to respond whenever we had a question. Would definitely recommend!

Our cave suite is part of Minnesota's first B&B! Formerly a saloon built in 1869, this apartment/suite is complete with a large cave that once led into tunnels connecting the saloon into a brewery. While the cave no longer stores beer, it does have a luxury bath built into it, with both a whirlpool tub and a walk in shower. This suite is perfect for a romantic getaway in beautiful Taylor's Falls. Come celebrate honeymoons, anniversaries, or just because in a beautiful and unique suite.
This is an entire apartment in the Old Jail Bed and Breakfast. We are no longer able to serve breakfast, but we give each guest a breakfast voucher for the Chisago House restaurant right across the street. This apartment is equipped with a full kitchen, along with dining area, living area, studio bedroom, and of course the stunning bath.
We are in the heart of downtown Taylor's Falls. There are restaurants, bars, a coffee shop, and Interstate State Park all within walking distance. There are several wineries in the area and lots of places to stroll around and take in the scenery.
  • Super cute and comfy place to get away for the weekend!

    Emily2020-03-15T00:00:00Z

  • This is a super unique place right in the heart of Taylor's Falls. I wish I could have spent more time in the room. But I imagine it would be a perfect get away in any season. There are so many cozy board games you could play in the winter and of course there is amazing hiking everywhere around the area.

  • Loved this suite! My husband and I stayed here for our wedding night and it was perfect. It’s such a unique space and the comfiest bed we’ve ever had!!The tub was amazing for the end of a crazy wedding day. Great communication from the owners! All went perfectly.

We just finished renovating our cabin on Long Lake. The main level of the property consists of a kitchen, living area, dining area and bathroom. The upstairs has 2 more bedrooms. The downstairs "game room" with darts, a foosball table, and a big screen TV. Feel like you are sitting in a tree house while you enjoy the screen porch overlooking the serene lake. Cozy up by the real wood fireplace. Year round fun. We are dog friendly, please contact us if you'd like to bring your pup!
Guests have access to the whole cabin besides a storage area in the basement that is locked off.
I fell in love with the area growing up and going to a family friends cabin. Cumberland is the nearest town and has such a great little Main Street with cute shops and restaurants.
  • We made reservations at the cabin very last minute (after the weather changed our original plans) and the hosts were quick to communicate and accommodate our booking. It was the perfect, cozy spot for a ladies weekend. The place was sparkling clean on arrival, very stylishly decorated in rustic modern decor, and extremely cozy for a snowy weekend. All of us slept very well and greatly enjoyed our time together watching snowflakes fall while we did puzzles, watched movies and went for a few quick winter hikes on the frozen lake. Perks were having a wood burning fireplace, neat kitchen to cook in, several cozy nooks to read in, and Foosball table.

  • We have nothing but great things to say about Stephanie and her Comstock cabin. The cabin is thoughtfully design and decorated for an ideal cozy getaway. The pictures are 100% accurate! Stephanie was such a considerate host during our stay. Apart from stocking the cabin with everything you would need, she made sure we arrived safely during an ice/snow storm. It couldn’t have been more perfect winter getaway with close friends.

    Roberto2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The place was clean and beautiful and a fun experience to stay there. The amenities were excellent and communication with Stephanie was clear and easy.

    Janine2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a lovely stay at Stephanie's! She was very easy to communicate with and the cabin itself was so cozy. We enjoyed several fires, both down by the lakeshore and inside. We had fun with the paddleboards and kayaks as well. And the screened in porch was perfect. The beds were very comfy and the kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and cookware. Sound definitely carriers in the cabin since the doors are thin and there are windows in the bedrooms that open up into the living room area (I assume for airflow) so it's good to be aware of this if you're looking for more privacy. Overall, we definitely enjoyed our stay!

    Ashley2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • I can wholeheartedly recommend Stephanie and her property in Comstock. It was exactly as represented on the Airbnb site...scenic location, comfortable and very thoughtfully decorated/outfitted accommodations and quick replies to my questions as I was planning our trip. Payment, property access, check-in & checkout were all easy and seamless. This was my first use of the Airbnb website/services/experience and I could not be any more pleased. A+ &🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!

    Kathleen2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cabin, and beautiful location. The cabin was stocked with everything that we needed. Highly recommended!

    Dave2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Stephanie's place was easy to get to and was very clean. We loved the view and made many unforgettable memories there. I would highly recommend her place!

    Tabetha2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking to take a break from reality and just enjoy life, this is the place. The cabin is nicely decorated and has everything you could think of and more. The paddle boats, paddle boards, and kayaks provided hours upon hours of fun for our family. The wild life is amazing to watch off the screened in porch. The fox, deer, beavers, and loons were fabulous. There are so many small towns around to explore if you want a break from the water. Stephanie’s communication is perfect if you need anything. The only thing I was not fully prepared for were the bugs of nature. If you are not from the area, bring a lot of bug spray, candles, essential oils to stop them. Overall, we loved our break and would love to come back!

Maplestead is an active farm near a small rural community in Northwestern Wisconsin. The farmhouse, now owned by the 5th generation of the family, was originally build at the turn of the last century and has since been remodeled. This quiet rural setting is located within an hours drive of Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. Maplestead LLC is a Polk County Licensed Property
The one level house will sleep 6, there are two bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room. Large kitchen for your use. Large bay window in the living room to watch the sunrise and an enclosed patio for the sunset. Outside charcoal grill and fire pit available, we provide the wood.
  • Joan greeted us, showed us around and had everything ready for us to settle in. There wasn't anything missing or that we needed during our stay. The house was easy to find. We enjoyed our stay very much. Easy to find and so convenient to where we were staying.

    Cheryl2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • The area was beautiful! The space was very cute and homey. The history of the family was very interesting. Justin was very nice and informative of the area. Definitely a good stay and getaway!

    Melvina2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • A nice place out in the country. Warm hosts and an authentic farmhouse vibe.

    Jordan2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This house is a farm house which is rustic, has plenty of space and is clean. Overall, a lovely place! We were traveling with two toddlers however, and staying in this lovely, charming house was a bit of challenge for me as there are quite a bit of (charming) decorations including porcelain, glass and hot oil diffuser lamps. The garage/entrance area is set up as a garage sale area, with lovely items and there are vases, lamps etc. in all rooms. All these decorations add to the charm of the place(!), but it also had me stay on my toes to make sure the kids did not to break anything and/or to avoid my kids getting hurt. Usually, I have no problems traveling with kids, but this cute place proved a challenge. So, it is a great place for adults, older kids, our families with ONE well-behaved kid perhaps. But not the best choice for a family with two curious toddlers. The kids loved going for walks looking at the cows, the butterflies, the birds etc (me too). The trees and the fields and the grill was lovely. The kitchen is well stocked and communication was great. So, although it was to the best choice for us perhaps due to the stress from keeping our toddles away from all those interesting things, we did enjoy our stay in many ways.

    Angelika2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was really a great place and a private get away. Feels close to nature . Justin was really a great host

    Karthik Reddy2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you enjoy being out in the country, the Maplestead Farmhouse is the place to stay. The place was clean and very well equiped. You only have to bring food and shampoo. Even though it was hot during our stay, there were plenty of fans to keep you cool without having air conditioning.

    Steve2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint house in the countryside.

    Joshua2019-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Justin is a fantastic host- answered questions quickly and was always very nice. The house is cute and cozy. Tons of blankets around, games to play with the family, and a nice TV. It’s a ways away from any places to eat, but they have a beautiful full kitchen so bring some groceries for when you don’t wanna drive for meals. There’s tons to do around the house, and the drive to get to those places is peaceful and scenic. The nearby towns seemed very interesting. We really enjoyed the views from the house and hearing the cows mooing every so often!! We would love to stay again if we’re in the area, and I totally recommend this stay to anybody looking!!
