The village of Devil's Bridge lies in the beautiful wooded area of the Rheidol valley, where the spectacular waterfalls created by the river Mynach fall 300ft into the river Rheidol. The area is quiet and peaceful set within a beautiful landscape. The 15 - 20 minute drive down to Aberystwyth and the coast is a pleasurable one and offers some truly stunning views. The Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway, which runs between Aberystwyth and Devil’s Bridge, is one of the finest ways to explore the beautiful Rheidol Valley. For walkers there is a delightful network of waymarked paths and tracks in truly stunning and varied scenery throughout the area, including the Hafod Estate, a restored 18th century landscape known as a paradise for walkers. The area is also popular with on and off road cyclists offering many scenic and challenging rides. A good meal and drinks can be enjoyed at the Hafod Hotel, which was originally built as a hunting lodge in the 1700's and stands alongside the ‘Devil's Bridge’ at the head of the dramatic waterfalls. There are also cafés at the nearby Rheidol Steam railway station and the Woodlands caravan park (both seasonal). Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forestry Centre is just a short drive with an attractive Visitor Centre and cafe. Enjoy great Fish & Chips and beautiful sunsets on the Promenade, ride the Cliff Railway or visit the Harbour, the Pier or National Library of Wales. The sandy North beach is Blue Flag, so no dogs during the summer season but they can enjoy the South Beach all year round. With a wealth of bars and eateries there is something to suit all tastes and a good variety of shops, including a large newly opened Marks & Spencer's! There are many more places of interest to visit close by and within the area including the beautiful beaches at Ynyslas, Dolphin watching at Newquay, Strata Florida Abbey, the Silver Mountain mine experience and the magnificent Llanerchaeron, a National Trust property, to name a few.
  • Jane and Bob were very welcoming hosts, providing wealth on information about the local area, which is absolutely stunning. The accommodation was comfortable, with all necessities and more, we had our privacy and access to the garden. It was a nice place to retreat to out of the rain and warm up. More places are left to explore, I would definitely stay there again.

  • A lovely peaceful haven in the Welsh countryside; the flat is equipped with everything you need, and was spotlessly clean. We really appreciated the tips on local walks and coffee shops from Jane and Bob.

  • Lovely accommodation in Devils Bridge and conveniently located for the Sweet Lamb stage of the GB Rally. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, toasty warm and very peaceful. The kitchen is very well equipped and it’s very handy that towels & bed linen are provided. Little extra touches were handy too- a torch for walking up from the local hotel at night, coffee tea and sugar, shower gel in the bathroom and umbrellas. We really enjoyed our stay here in Devils Bridge!

  • A compact but comfortable stay awaits you in Devils Bridge. The apartment is ideally situated to explore the surrounding area. Jane and Bob are lovely hosts who have thought of everything to make their guests stay as flawless as possible. Patio doors open out on to a beautifully tended garden, with Red Kites wheeling above, and pleasant seating areas to enjoy the fresh Welsh mountain air. A return visit is planned for the near future.

  • Very clean and welcoming. Great location.

    Linda2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a warm welcome and a beautiful place to stay. There were so many touches to make the stay a great time from everything you need to cook to a wonderful outdoor patio and garden to a large selection of books and DVDs to watch. Definitely a perfect place to stay if you want quiet beauty. It's close to the Rheidol Railway and the stunning Mynach Falls.

    Katherine2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, lovely clean space. Although you're technically in the back garden it doesn't feel like it. Within spitting distance of the railway and tea rooms, and short walk to the pub and falls. A lovely spot

    Nick2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The first thing that strikes you as you approach Jane's house are the lovingly sculpted gardens. They are packed with colour and variety. And that just about sums up the accommodation too! A complete home from home with EVERYTHING you could ever need and plenty of thoughtful touches. There is also a lovely outdoor space separate from their own property. Our dog loved his stay as much as us and was just as well catered for. One of the best we've ever stayed in. The most detailed and helpful show around we've ever had. Lovingly presented by a couple who instantly felt like family. A special place run by special people in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Brynllwyd Glamping is set on six acres of private land where Darren and Sue live. We have a mixture of woodland, open fields and a beautiful lake with centre island. Presenting, the Pemberton with its own private space, private parking, large decking area, hot tub, fire pit, outdoor dining area, loungers and an outside cool box with integrated bottle opener. Just when you think we couldn't offer more, there is even a field adjacent to be used at your leisure for outdoor activities.
The Pemberton Pod is entirely yours for the duration of your stay, we would like to point out that our fire pit doubles up as a BBQ with space for 4 grills! These grills are particularly handy if you or any of your party are vegetarian as they can have their own grill separate from meat. Then there is the hot tub, select a setting and simply melt away in total relaxation. If however you prefer a little more active approach to your stay with us, why not explore the local area. Susan has prepared an 'Area Guide and Days Out' which can be found inside the pod. If you are keen for information before you arrive, please contact us for this info. This is Mid Wales so you can be rest assured that your walks will not be crowded. Just 4 miles away is the Hafod Estate where the well marked footpaths offer a great day out. Can you find the robbers cave? Experience the delights of travelling on quiet roads, single track roads, steep and windy roads, we can point out the best. We have Red Kites that hover above us but if you want exciting spectacle, visit Bwlch Nant yr Arian to watch Red Kite feeding. Here some 200+ Red Kites come from all around to feast on a Sunday afternoon.
Brynllwyd has 6 acres of grounds and with it, surrounded by plenty of trees and shrubbery. So whilst we do have neighbours, they are about 115 meters away on the opposite side of the road. The Devils Bridge Village Centre is less than a mile away.
  • Amazing space, great host and the hot tub is amazing especially in the rain! Thoughtful touches and a really cosy place

    Ashleigh2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay. Being walking distance to the Devil's Bridge Hike was perfect! Such a peaceful place and wonderful hospitality. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    Shea2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had such an amazing time with my partner, shut off away from the world for the weekend, hot tub and fire pit and the pod it’s self was just brilliant and amazing, be both can’t rate it any higher than what we already have, thanks for being a great host! We will def return :)

    Chris2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice little hut, absolutely awesome at night in the hot tub with all the stars in the sky...♡

    Beatrice2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is the ideal place to get away. Darren and his wife were incredibly accommodating, due to an accident on the road we arrived very late, and the space was everything we hoped it would be. The cabin’s design and furnishings were perfect and our only regret was that we didn’t plan more evenings here to relax under the stars in the hot tub or by the fire pit.

    Justin2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Most amazing glamping experience! Pod is a home for home, fully equipped with everything you would need and more! The pod sits off a small private lake which is beautiful to walk around, although it is located behind the owners property there is a complete sense of privacy. Hot tub was available for one night which is very rare when it comes to glamping pods and Darren was extremely accommodating. Will defiantly be returning!

    Chloe2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely location superb host & all round great place to stay with hot tub and fire pit

    Holly2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in the pod was amazing. From the moment we arrived we were blown away by the beauty of the pod and it’s surrounding area. It had everything we needed for our stay, including coffee, tea and milk! We enjoyed walking around the lake and observing the nature, and of course spending our evenings in the hot tub and making tea on the fire Pitt! Thank you for a fabulous get a way!

  • Wow what a lovely little place in such a beautiful area. As soon as we walked in we saw maltesers & champagne. What a cute welcome. Communication was great and we were given so much information for local places to visit and places to eat. The hot tub is a special feature and it’s an excellent one with lights & fairy lights around it. The electric fire was also a cosy touch. The TV was good too. Everything was provided & the place was clean. Thanks Heather (and Aled), we hope to thank you in person when we stay again in the summer!

    Sophie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little get away retreat! A nice cosy little cabin with lots of thoughtful touches such as bread, milk, tea, coffee etc and even a bottle of bubbly to enjoy in the hot tub with provided plastic glasses for use in the hot tub! The hot tub was one of the best we have used and at a perfect 40 degrees in this cold weather (being Feb/march) the bed was unbelievably comfortable and we had a great 2 nights relaxing under the stars! The location is familiar to us as we used to live near by and there are plenty of things to do with beautiful walks amongst the waterfalls at the Hafod. Heather was a great host with very fast replies and we look forward to staying again soon!! X

  • I live in wales myself. So I’m not shy to a good view! But, this area of wales is nothing shy of amazing. It’s worth a quick drive over the mountain to see some of the beautiful roads/views they have to offer. Heathers place is very cosy! I couldn’t fault a thing. You really won’t be disappointed in your stay here. Thanks a lot for letting us stay here! You made our Valentine’s Day extra special! :)

    Joshua2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The best host with a beautiful and peaceful place to stay in with the best hot tub! The location is perfect just up from the waterfalls which are absolutely beautiful and worth the recommended walk! Great communication, clear instruction and local tips on what to do around the area was extra good and thank you so much for the Prosecco and chocolates! We had the perfect break away and will definitely be coming back! Definitely the best host I’ve used and the nicest place to stay in, pictures really don’t do it justice. Xx

  • Very beautiful looking little house! Perfect for a romantic trip. It was so cozy, it was a last minute decision to come here we just packed and drove and definitely worth the money! Looks so much better than in pictures as well. The bed is so comfortable. The hot tub was a perfect addition too at no extra cost loved the fact we weren't restricted to how long we can use it for and we could have used it the whole night if we wanted to. Although shower cabin was a bit small as there was no barrier to separate it from the actual bathroom the water was going all over the bathroom floor so it did become wet if showering for too long. Other than that everything was just there from pans to sauces and milk in the fridge. All we needed is just bring food with us. The area is quiet and peaceful. Looking forward to come back! The host was lovely and quick at response. Xxx

  • What a little gem! The location is fantastic, the property feels so secluded yet its so close to so many stunning attractions. The hot tub was a lovely addition as well as the bottle of bubbly left for us. Heather was a fantastic host, so quick to respond to any queries. My partner and I would love to come back.

A beautifully light, compact room with your own private entrance, brand new bathroom and breakfast facilities. The house is situated in an extremely peaceful and picturesque part of Ceredigion. As we are in a rural location, mobile phone signal is limited and WiFi can be intermittent. We back on to local woods with miles and miles of truly stunning walking options. Aberystwyth is 10 miles away with local pubs and facilities around 5 miles away.
A truly peaceful place to spend a few days with the benefit of Aberystwyth being easily accessible. The ability to walk from our doorstep in every direction and spend the day in the most stunning countryside.
  • Beautifully finished accommodation, very private and situated in a magical spot that's perfect for walking and cycling.

Located on the Melindwr river on the edge of the village of Goginan, private coarse fishing lake, private location, log fired hot tub, garden with BBQ, parking, close to the Nant yr Arian Mountain Bike Centre (bikers can ride from the trails to the Cabin) and a wide range of visitor facilities around Aberystwyth (river, lake and sea fishing, kyaking, surfing, horse riding, theatre, cinemas, Rheidol Steam Trains to Devils Bridge Waterfalls), one mile to the Druid Inn, serving food and ales.
The Cabin is set in 26 acres, mostly wooded, with a large veranda, views down the valley. Although secluded, along a half mile private road - the Cabin is very convenient for access to the coast and the amenities of Aberystwyth, and is particularly convenient for access to the Nant yr Arian Mountain Bike Centre. Bed linen is provided. The cottage is well equiped and bed linen is supplied. The hot tub is easy to use and we also supply sufficient logs for the first use of the log burner and hot tub. The hot tub will stay warm after that and will only require a small fire (about 1 to 2 sacks logs) for subsequent uses, logs are available at £4 a sack
A very friendly village with a well patronised public house - the Druid Inn. There are a number of good restaurants/bars locallty. We are particularly well located for access to the Nant yr Arian Mountain Bike Centre - the trails join up with roads/paths to Goginan.
  • Lovely location in a beautiful surrounding. Very peaceful and quiet. Plenty of room in the cabin.

    Madeline2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is beautiful and secluded. It's a great place to get away from city life. It's very peaceful and quiet! The facilities are great and the whole place is clean and tidy! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin and will definitely be going back!

    Andrea2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • It’s not often I am lost for words , I can not even put into detail how beautiful the log cabin is . We followed the instructions that Jane sent us and we got to the cabin fine . The pictures don’t do this place justice ! It’s amazing , it’s so spacious , you don’t actually realise how big the cabin is until you see it in person , We were always warm in the cabin , the hot tub was easy to use - and so was the fire in the living room. We had a lovely walk around the grounds and were mesmerised by the red kites flying over head . Jane was a great host and answered all of our enquires promptly . We can not wait to visit again . Thanks Jane

  • Great host. Great trip. Jane is very thoughtful!

    Jake2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely idyllic location, very peaceful but not too far from everything mid Wales has to offer. Beautiful cabin, spacious with all amenities. Great hot tub and great night skies with little light pollution. Would highly recommend.

    Rob2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • I certainly didn't expect what greeted us as we drove down the winding lane to the cabin. Behind a privacy fence and gate is the most beautiful log cabin, I feel like I'm cheating it calling it a cabin because it is so big. It has a large sheltered veranda with outdoor seating, a bbq area and of course the fantastic hot tub. Walking in you are in the kitchen which is clean, modern and very well equipped. That leads onto the lounge, separated by a good sized dining table, the lounge has two comfy sofas and an armchair, widescreen tv and a log burner. Down the hall is a larger bathroom with a double sized shower, just like the kitchen it is very well done and modern. The bedrooms are a very good size, especially the master which has an ensuite and doors out onto the veranda. The cabin is very well heated and has a separate room with a football table that my son loved. There is a tv in there too so for a longer stay he might bring his xbox. So yes the cabin is perfect and gorgeous but the location is what made it super special, it is perched on the side of the valley with views of the lake, river and Woodlands. Every day we marvelled at the pair of kites that soared above and the heron sitting in the lake. We enjoyed walking around the area and had an exceptional meal at the Druid Inn. We'll definitely be back!

A spacious comfortable converted barn, perfect for a couple, in an idyllic location with stunning views across the Ystwyth valley. Great for a quiet stay exploring the area, or birdwatching, but also close to many places of interest.
The barn has its own small garden and entrance, and includes a small kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine; bath/shower, separate wc, large open beamed sitting/dining room, with double bedroom leading off it. It combines traditional features with modern comfort.
This is a very peaceful Welsh farming community, close to the historic Hafod estate, 4 miles from the waterfalls and steam railway at Devil's Bridge and next to the scenic mountain road which leads to the Elan Valley lakes, a popular walking and cycling destination. Aberystwyth is 15 miles away and the beaches at Borth can be reached in 50 minutes. Other places of interest nearby include Strata Florida abbey, Cors Caron nature reserve, the mountains of Plyn Limon, source of the rivers Severn and Wye, and many forest trails.
  • Lovely cottage up near the Elan Valley. If you wish to have a remote break then this is absolutely ideal! Amazing property with beams, comfy bed and well equipped kitchen, would definitely stay here again!

We are told that few self-catering holiday cottages offer such comfort, complete peace and a sense of retreat from our fast-paced world for those who love to escape. This dog friendly holiday cottage in mid-west Wales is set on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains in a breathtaking location, as seen in the ‘Hinterland’ TV series. For those looking for adventure and self-catering holidays in Wales there are endless beautiful walks for children, adults and dogs alike. A narrow gauge steam railway is nearby; swimming, dolphin spotting, Red Kite feeding and bird watching, mountain biking, fly fishing, horse riding and viewing historic mines are amongst the attractions local to the holiday cottages. Of course the internet is unlimited for those who need it! While the cottage is pet and dog friendly, owners are encouraged to read the relevant FAQs on Welsh Hideaways website to ensure their dog’s holiday needs will be met too!
Penroc comes fully equipped with a king size bed as well as a comfy twin room – so after a long day of walking with the dogs and outdoor activities, you will be sure of a good night’s sleep. But before you turn in for the night, you can take full advantage of the wonderful views that mid-west Wales has to offer from the balcony with a glass of wine on a summer’s evening. The international dark sky park is nearby so star-gazing is an unforgettable experience. For those cold and dark nights, there are a range of options to keep you entertained as you enjoy the heat of the stove, including SkySat TV, DVDs, audio system, internet and a good selection of games. Whether it’s a romantic countryside retreat or a walking holiday in Wales – the cottage caters for everyone (even your dog!).
Cwmystwyth is seventeen miles inland from Aberystwyth along the mountain road to Rhayader. There are excellent walks through the beautiful scenery that surrounds the cottages that includes hilltops, waterfalls, woodland, forests, dams and caves. The Ystwyth valley is one of the RSPB’s successful breeding sites for Red Kites and there is fishing and pony trekking nearby. Sandy beaches are just over half an hour away and there is a narrow gauge railway from Devil’s Bridge to Aberystwyth. Until you get away from the noise of traffic and the telephone you won’t realise how hectic everyday life can be. Family games in front of the fire, or sitting in a window seat with a good book and red kites circling overhead soon recharges the batteries.
  • Our stay at Penroc couldn’t have been more perfect! The location and the views are out of this world - and the cottage has all that you need for a stay that’s like a home away from home. The view from the living room and the balcony was spectacular and this coupled with being so close to the stunning mountain road, Hafod Estate and the Elan Valley (all of which are a must visit) made our stay one of the best we’ve had in Mid Wales. Our dogs loved their stay too and especially the trip to Ynyslas beach, which is definitely worth a visit. Alan, the caretaker, and owner Gareth were both incredibly helpful and responsive - perfect hosts. Thank you and we’ll be back for sure!!

    Helle2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Penroc made a very cosy, comfortable and peaceful base for a few days of walking in the Elan Valley. The bed is lovely and firm, the dark sky views from the balcony are amazing, and the cottage is very well equipped if you like to self cater. I spent every evening looking at the stars from the window seat, and will miss that.

Quirky, cosy, atmospheric cottage. Beautiful rural location next to steam railway station, fantastic for biking, horse riding, fishing, 15 mins to stunning beaches. No television or phone reception so good opportunity to go off grid (Yes really not a bar for half a mile in each direction)! Follow us on instagram for more images @tycapelcottage
Mid 19th century Welsh cottage, recently renovated with two cosy wood fire stove.
The cottage is 9 miles from the university seaside town of Aberystwyth where the nearest amenities can be found. The beautiful Wales coastal path goes through the town. (URL HIDDEN)

  • We were really happy with the house it is very comfortable and well thought out, we particularly liked the electric fur blanket ( May now have to purchase one). Super area too some lovely walks and beautiful surroundings.

  • Alice's place was great, just what we were looking for. It is a beautiful getaway into the equally beautiful Wales countryside. We did have a little trouble finding the place as we arrived in the dark, but we were expecting that.

  • Beautiful stay and lovely location and host :)

    Emily2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place. Felt super rural but just close enough to shops and Aberystwyth in the car (15 mins). The house is so cosy when the log burners are going and decorated really well. Alice was a super host and replied to messages straight away.

  • A cozy little house that suited a family of three perfect. Brilliant if you like to discover this part of Wales. Great communication with very friendly hosts.

  • Cosy little place that was clean and tidy. Good range of amenities provided for a comfortable stay. Communication with hosts was great. Location is great, close to a petrol station. Not far from supermarket and town. Good base for exploring further afield whilst avoiding town traffic. Parking is a little awkward but there were very good instructions given before we arrived

  • So comfortable and cosy in this lovely little house, Stephen and Elaine have covered everything the guest might need and more. The electric recliner chairs in particular are just wonderful, the house snug and warm, sumptuous towels, toiletries, teas, coffee... in fact I can only describe my stay here as luxurious. It's in a quiet and peaceful area about a mile or so from Aberystwyth town centre and convenient for the nearby retail park for shopping etc. I cannot recommend this property enough.

    Tony2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation - clean and comfortable and with everything you might need. Extremely helpful and friendly hosts. Would stay there again.

  • Stephen & Elaine's house is a very welcoming and cosy cottage in Aberystwyth, well located for the town and the university. The space is generous for 3 people (one double bedroom and one single) and all expected facilities in the kitchen and living room. You could cook full meals in the kitchen, and the living room is comfortable and has a huge TV. Parking is easy and the hosts are very helpful and quick to respond. We would definitely stay again.

    Mark2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful clean and cosy house that was a pleasure to stay in. My flight was delayed and the hosts were flexible about my entry time and even offer to collect me from the station if I couldn't find a taxi!

    Moira2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little house in Aberystwyth, lavishly decorated, and great for our needs. The parking situation isn't perfect (across a busy road, and partially on the pavement in front of some houses), but that is the only real draw back! A little bit further away from town than we were used to in our student days, but still easy enough to get to. Stephen and Elaine were very helpful and thoughtful, leaving us milk and even Wagon Wheels!

    Charlotte2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This little house is gorgeous. About a 20 minute walk to Aberystwyth which is a lovely place and lots of dog friendly pubs and cafes. In the house was lots of things you could use to make the stay easier and better. From coffee and tea in the kitchen to shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom and lots of towels to use. I loved the little touch’s of decor in the house. I could happily live there. Thank you Elaine and Stephen I want to come back already. Xx

My place is good for couples and solo adventurers. In a lovely little village near Aberystwyth with a pub and a hearty village shop a short drive away. Perfect for cyclists, hill walkers, star gazers and wild swimmers. Mae fy lle yn dda ar gyfer cyplau a bobl sy'n teithio ar ei hunan. Pentref bach hyfryd ger Aberystwyth, efo siop pentref a tafarn yn weddol agos. Perffaith ar gyfer beicio, cerddwyr, nofwyr wyllt a syllu ar y nefoedd.
It's a small, semi detached cottage with a wood burning stove and two bedrooms. (one single bed and one double). The cottage has steep stairs, a woodburning stove and stone flag floors so I don't recommend it to young families. A characterful, cosy retreat. This is an old Welsh cottage, it is heated by the wood burning stove with radiators so you'll need to light this to heat the house - once stove is lit house gets nice and snug, I recommend bringing big socks and a cosy jumper to make the most of your stay, especially in the autumn and winter months. Bwthyn bach 'semi' efo stôf llosgi coed a dau ystafell wely. (un sengl, un dwbl). Mae'n ganddo grisiau serth, stôf a llawr lech felly nid ydw i'n argymell ar gyfer teuluoedd gyda plant bach. Gwresogir gan y stôf llosgi coed a rheiddiaduron - mae angen cynnal y stôf i gwresogi'r tŷ. Mae'n digon clyd pan mae'r stôf wedi cynnal. Mae'n werth dod a dillad cynnes (siwmper an hosannau trwchus) i fod yn cyfforddus - yn enwedig yn y gaeaf a'r hydref.
it's just up the hill from the famous Hafod estate and over the hill from ancient Strata Florida. There are loads of nice walking and cycling routes nearby, and Cwtch cafe down the road bakes lovely cakes.
  • This a quiet & quirky cottage, run by illustrator Dorry & her partner Reuben. Comfy beds, a log-burning stove, interesting paintings & simple furnishings all add up to a relaxing stay. The kitchen is basic tho has most things you need. Set in a hamlet in one of the most beautiful areas of Wales, you have to go a long way to find better walking: check out the footpaths around the Hafod estate. Light the fire, pour yourself a glass of wine & make a start on a book. Thanks!

    Claire2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Super lovely cottage with beautiful unique touches. Very quiet and on the steps of a beautiful part of Wales. Great walks and views, but make sure to bring waterproofs!

    Francesca2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • About 30 minutes by car to Aberystwyth. This hamlet has few amenities, but a chinese/thai takeaway is one of them! There is ample cooking facilities in the cottage,so if supplies are taken, it's not a problem.

    Lorraine2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • If your looking for a self sufficient stone cottage with a roaring fire and loads of atmosphere.. this will be for you. Abit isolated but for us that was fab

    John2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at the cottage. We picked a wet and windy week for our visit so we didn't get to explore the area as much as we'd hoped but the location is beautiful whatever the weather. We spent a lot of time in front of the wood burning stove which was terrific and there was plenty of hot water. As other people have mentioned, the bed is very comfortable! Dorry and Reuben gave great instructions on how to get there and how everything worked inside the cottage. They checked that all was OK but left us to our own devices which suited us perfectly. We hope to be back in warmer weather. Thank you again!

    Anna2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay if you enjoy walking there are lots of places to visit nearby. We love Hafod Estate with its many waterfalls, one right inside a cavern. Hafod hotel near devils falls does an excellent Sunday lunch.

  • Cute and cosy cottage with lot's of great art. Very friendly hosts and all over a very relaxing stay!

    Mira2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Dorry & Rupert's place is a simple, rustic and great value place to say if you are visiting the Cambrians/Aberystwyth area. All the facilities worked well and the place was lovely and clean. Great bath if you like soaks. The burner takes a bit of getting used to but once roaring it gets pretty cosy. It was perfect for what I needed and I'd definitely recommend it if you don't mind a bit of fire tending.

We are set in a peaceful village just outside the University Town of Aberystwyth which has plenty to see with many great Bars and Restaurants. This very picturesque area is great for walking or just relaxing and taking in the scenery
We are lucky to live 500 feet above sea level. Very close by are beautiful short walks for those who prefer a quiet stroll. Nearby there are cycle paths and mountain bike trails for those who prefer to get out on a bike ride. And for those who prefer something a little more strenuous there are walks that can take several hours to complete. We are very lucky to live in such a beautiful, accessible part of the county.

While the cottage is pet and dog friendly, owners are encouraged to read the relevant FAQs to ensure their dog’s holiday needs will be met too! For some, this low priced self-catering holiday is enhanced by the two dog friendly cottages (Ty Mari and Penroc) having inter-communicating doors…you can have a noisy cottage with games, DVDs and the like and a quiet cottage where you can be still and drink in the view. They are wonderful for two families wanting space for ten and yet times apart from each other. The fantastic location of this self-catering cottages in west Wales means that you can enjoy the kind of holiday you want to – whether it is a break full of walking with the dogs or trekking; or simply recharging your batteries and taking a step back from it all. The cottage comes fully equipped with a king size bed as well as comfy twin rooms – so after a long day of walking with the dogs and outdoor activities, you will be sure of a good night’s sleep. But before you turn in for the night, you can take full advantage of the wonderful views that mid-west Wales has to offer, while enjoying a home cooked dinner or glass of wine on a summer’s evening. The international dark sky park is nearby so star-gazing is an unforgettable experience. For those cold and dark nights, there are a range of options to keep you entertained as you enjoy the heat of the stove, including Sky TV, DVDs, audio system, surprisingly fast internet and a good selection of games. Whether it’s a romantic countryside retreat or a family/group walking holiday in Wales – the cottage caters for everyone (even your dog!).
Ty Mari and Penroc are set in a stunning landscape at the interface of wild mountains and wooded valleys where sheep farming, forests and mountain top views make this one of the beautiful hidden secrets of Wales. These attractive 19th century cottages are on the outskirts of a tiny village called Cwmystwyth: they are situated 100 meters along a rough track from the main road. There is a terrace of homes either side of the track, with Ty Mari at the end . Cwmystwyth is seventeen miles inland from Aberystwyth along the mountain road to Rhayader. There are excellent walks through the beautiful scenery that surrounds the cottages that includes hilltops, waterfalls, woodland, forests, dams and caves.
You are in a stunning area of Wales yet right off the beaten track. There are endless walks from the door, many species of birds to be seen and the sea is just half an hour's drive down the valley.
  • I cannot recommend this cottage enough. We booked to bring an Australian relative and she was blown away. Not only is it amazingly well equipped with absolutely everything you need it has extras like shelves of DVDs, books, CDs, games and puzzles. There is gorgeous local art work around and the welcoming book is so helpful. It was really cozy and warm, the sofa was so comfy as were the beds. It was the perfect base to explore the mountains, Elan Valley, Aberystwyth etc. We walked down to the river and it was just magical. We cooked each night we were there and it was like a home from home. We'll definitely be back (with the kids!!)

    Lindsay2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage in a great location with a fantastic view from the garden. Surroundet by a stunning nature ideal for walks. Fitted with everything you need to enjoy a few (or more) days far away from everyday life. What a shame we had to leave after two perfect weeks. Also perfect communication either with Gareth himself as well as with his housekeeper. Many thanks for the wonderful stay

  • A wonderful retreat in the peace of the valley. Great communication, instructions and superbly equipped property. Very clean and high quality, really comfy double bed (I'm really fussy about beds!). Loved the outdoor garden Room for kite watching and listening to the river, great for morning coffee or early slurs. We would definitely return. Thanks Gareth.

    David2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location, amazing hosts and amazing lodge! Couldn’t fault anything. We arrived, was greeted by Jillian and taken to the lodge which is across the road from their house. Lodge is enclosed and was great for Monty our pup as he had plenty of space to run around. The lodge is very spacious, very clean, and had everything you needed. Log fire is a bonus and all the wood is already provided which meant we could sit in front of it all night, chat, drink and not in the slightest be cold. Unfortunately we did pick the worse weekend to go with storm Dennis and was greeted to a knock on the door early hours of the morning however it was Jillian informing us that there was bad flooding and that highways were out. This just shows that she wasn’t just thinking of herself but also puts her guests first in situations. They both really couldn’t of been more accommodating making sure we was ok and allowed us to check out whenever which was so handy. Definitely recommend!

  • Beautiful location and interior. Very warm inside - even for January! Myself and my boyfriend had a lovely overnight stay.

    Verity2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot fault Jillian’s Willow Lodge. Everything is taken care of; This place will suit anybody for an occasion. Trendy Aberystwyth is a 20 minute drive away, and stunning scenic walks are literally on the doorstep. If you’re content staying put for a week, then you’ll be very comfortable in the lodge. Whether it’s the winter, and you’re firing up the log burner, or it’s summer and you’re sat outside watching the river flow through the land. Most places I’ve seen on air bnb tend to be an afterthought to capitalise on peoples’ land, but not Jillian’s place. There’s plenty of room and the lodge’s amenities are plentiful, making you feel as comfortable as being at home, but in stunning surroundings.

The Devil's Bridge Falls are just 6 miles away and the Rheidol Riding Centre 4 miles away. It's worth taking a trip on the Vale of Rheidol Train with local stops along the way. The University town of Aberystwyth is just six miles away, home to the National Library of Wales. You will find major supermarkets in Aberystwyth, plenty of eateries, a leisure centre with swimming pool, a cinema, the arts centre and much more.
  • Fantastic location great for walking, main town only a ten minute drive

  • Excellent accommodation. Warm and cosy and host very helpful. Easy to get to many lovely places nearby, Newquay, Aberaeron, Llanon, Clarach, Aberystwyth, Borth etc.

  • This place is amazing. Great location, nice home, good for dogs, good facilities. The communication was good and I would definitely book again.

  • Looking forward to staying again. This is a beautiful part of the country and a comfortable cottage. Note that the bathroom is en-suite to the bedroom which maybe inconvenient in the night if you have someone using the lounge occasional bed.

    Jonathan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Quite simply a great place to stay.

    Jason2019-10-11T00:00:00Z

    Clive2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean homely cottage. Excellent value.

    Ashley2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a beautiful well equipped relaxing holiday retreat. We loved this property, it was clean, comfortable and quiet. Nestled in the hills close to Aberystwyth it enjoys a quiet secluded position that is close to the town but far enough away to enjoy peace and quiet of the country side. Lots to do and see and ideally placed for visiting places like New Quay, or for a visit to see the red kites. No matter what you decided to do you always look forward to returning back to your accommodation because it’s just so comfy, clean and relaxing.

The accommodation overlooks a beautiful lake and is comprised of a converted barn which is attached to my main home. It is completely self contained and has a large lounge with log burner, galley kitchen ,fridge, microwave, kettle, halogen oven, toaster ,coffee maker, small oven with grill. It has a mezzanine sleeping area with double bed, wardrobe, sofa, coffee table, large TV and stereo. There is a shower room and toilet. The lake can be seen from all rooms and is a short walk from the house.
The letting space is light and airy with stunning views across the lake .The property faces east and has spectacular sunrises over the lake.
My neighbourhood is quite isolated and is ideal for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. On a clear night due to the lack of light pollution the night sky is a sight to behold! Devils Bridge which is five minutes away is considered to be an area of outstanding beauty
  • Maggie provides all you could possibly need for a fantastic stay! Do not hesitate to book, the view of the lake is gorgeous.

    Emily2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a cosy place to stay in the peace and beauty of Wales look no further. You will not be disappointed with Maggie's place. It has all you need and more besides. Warmth, comfort, tranquility. Great walks, especially in Hafod Estate and good food at Hafod Inn and Druid Inn. Maggie is friendly and helpful without intruding. Perfect!

    Cathy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for somewhere remote in the countryside but wasn't too far away from civilisation, and Maggie's place was perfect for that. 20 minute drive from Aberystwyth, 10 mins from a couple of great pubs (Hafod Hotel and The Druid Inn are worth a visit) and from Devil's Bridge. Access to the property is fine despite its remoteness and we didn't struggle at all when driving around despite not having the most countryside-friendly car. There is a parking space for a single car in front of the house, off the road. Check-in was easy through the use of a lockbox, and Maggie kept in touch throughout and was easy to contact if needed, for example she set up the fire for us and left some additional logs outside one morning. The place is well-documented in the photos but there is additional furniture and kitchen facilities, such as an electric hob, steamer and slow cooker, which made the small kitchen easy to use as it was a bit of a worry when we booked. The place is best suited for two guests overnight with one double bed, but has plenty of seating/furniture downstairs for additional guests. The bathroom was small but perfectly usable, and we had no problems with any appliances or facilities while we were there. We would highly recommend this place for any couples looking to get away to the countryside, and will definitely be booking again in the future. Thanks Maggie!

  • We came for our honeymoon and had a lovely time (despite storm Dennis, who threatened to ruin the whole thing). We loved the cottage and enjoyed exploring the local area, there was plenty to do and everything we needed was only a short drive away (with stunning scenic views). And when we didn't go out we enjoyed relaxing by the log burner. Maggie was a wonderful host and we couldn't have asked for a nicer stay. Thank you!

    Ksenia2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely romantic cottage. Maggie is a super host, very helpful and quick in replying queries. The log fire is the highlight of our holiday, we enjoyed it a lot. Makes our stay warm and cozy even the night storm Ciara hit the place. Thank you Maggiexxx

  • We were planning to spend a relaxing weekend somewhere nice and cosy and Maggie's place was everything we wished for and more! The cottage has so much character and it's full of lovely touches. We loved spending time in there, enjoying the crackling fire or going out for a walk around the lake. I would highly recommend it for everyone, who appreciates the quiet countryside and beautiful landscapes.

    Emoke2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie's place was perfect for a weekend getaway. The space was really cosy and comfortable with everything we could possibly need. Although we didn't meet Maggie in person she was really helpful and communicative, and her daughter Emma came over to help us with the log burner! The location is very secluded and peaceful with stunning views of the countryside. We loved curling up by the fire with a board game in the evenings. We'd definitely visit again!

    Heloise2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie’s Place is in a quiet part of the mid Wales, but boasts some outstanding views of the countryside. The place is extremely well designed and offers amazing comfort. I couldn’t fault anything with the service. When the boiler was broken, Maggie offered to come and put the fire on for us to keep us warm at night and the day we arrived the place was well heated for our arrival. Maggie added the little touches like welsh cakes, tea and milk for our arrival, also the helpful post-it notes around the place was handed for knowing what to do. It was very close to devils bridge which is a must and not too far from Aberystwyth. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway. It offered a lovely and relaxing getaway for me and my girlfriend on our anniversary.

Welcome to Bronllan Rural Accommodation. As superhosts we're delighted to offer accommodation for singletons, couples, friends and families who want to travel independently whilst enjoying Ceredigion's delights and other parts of Wales. THIS IS 1 OF 2 spaces listed under 'Boutique Garden Chalet, Ceredigion' as no.1 or 2. They may be booked TOGETHER. You will find these modern chalets surrounded by countryside and Cambrian mountains on your doorstep. Coffee and tea making facilities are provided.
PET POLICY Here at Bronllan Rural Accommodation we do not ourselves own a dog but we are dog friendly. However, we have lots of guests stay with us who are NOT pet owners. We ask the following of dog owners: Please bring a suitable bed for your pet as dogs must NOT BE ALLOWED SO SIT ON THE BEDS OR FURNITURE! Please ensure you pick up all dog mess immediately; it can be tricky if you come across something when mowing the lawns. Along with this it is imperative that the interests of all our guests are taken into account to ensure everybody enjoys themselves when wishing to use the outside space. Should any accidents happen inside the chalet please inform us immediately and we will provide cleaning materials if you do not have anything suitable; stains may be harder to remove if left. If your dog is of a nervous disposition, or over friendly as we know some can be, please keep it on a lead for the benefit of other guests. Thank you for your co-operation. You'll find some crazy chicks in the garden where we are growing our own fruit and veg. DIRECTIONS. As we are quite rural using a sat nav may not always bring you directly to our door therefore here are some directions to help your journey. You may like to print them off in case you lose mobile signal in our location. The main house is called Bronllan. If you are coming from Aberystwyth, which is directly 13 miles from us, drive until you see the sign for Ystrad Meurig. On your right you will see a bungalow back off the road and the row of buildings on your right; just at the end of those buildings, which are our Airbnb listings, there is a five bar gate and you can drive into the property there. If coming from Devils Bridge follow the signs for the village of Pontrydfendigaid. When you reach the village the village hall and playing field will be in front of you; at the junction turn right. We are just two miles away so keep driving until you see the sign for Ystrad Meurig. As you come into the village the church will be on your right and the main house is in front of you with the green door and egg house. As you look at the house down the right hand side is the main gate where you can drive into the property.
The nearest local shop is in Pontrhydfendigaid (locally known as Bont) and this is open 7am -7pm Monday to Friday, 7am - 2pm Saturday and 8am - 1pm Sunday. In Tregaron the Spar is open 8am - 11pm 7 days a week. The Black Lion pub in Pontrhydfendigaid, 2 miles toward Tregaron, is a great place for an evening meal with friendly staff and dogs are welcome in the bar area. In Pontrhydfendigaid you will find the ruins of the Strata Florida Abbey. 8 miles from us is Tregaron where there are a number of places to eat including the Y Talbot pub/hotel and an Indian restaurant.

  • Louise is very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Accommodation was lovely, location beautiful and very peaceful.

  • Had a lovely stay here! Really enjoyed going to the Black Lion up the road for an evening meal, from Louise's recommendation. A lovely hidden gem with some great views of the countryside. Room was lovely and warm, had a nice cup of tea late at night star gazing in the frost on the little table out the front. Would recommend this if it's a clear night, as you get a cracking view. Tea and Coffee available with a little Tassimo machine. Bed was comfy enough and very spacious, great value for money. All in all we will definitely be back for another visit. Thankyou Louise

Rural, remote, rustic but peaceful cottage set down its own track through field & 2 gates, & over small stream. Property is on 3 levels, steps and floors are uneven, would not be suitable for very young children or for anyone with mobility problems. Attached cottage is occupied by local family who will be able to offer help during your stay. Local amenities are few and far between. There is a local pub in the village, which serves food Friday & Saturday evenings, plus small shop opposite pub.
Water is well fed, although we drink it would recommend you drink bottled water. Please note in exceptional prolonged dry spells the well could dry up, whilst this is unusual this did happen last summer. On the plus side it will mean you would be having lovely weather. Track is passable by most vehicles however would not be suitable for cars with low ground clearance. Field is sometimes occupied with livestock as you would expect. Well behaved dog welcome. Vodafone mobile signal weak, EE & O2 seem to be good. No WiFi Barbeque in shed Washing machine available in kitchen. Television Vast selection of board games and books Digital radio Electric heating in addition to wood burner.
Within actual village, the Tafarnybont pub serves food most Friday and Saturday evenings. There is a small shop within old garage opposite shop which sales basics and local produce. There is a bus which runs through the main road in village to Aberystwyth, Tregaron and I believe Lampeter. Small market town, Tregaron is approx. 8 miles away, you will find local butchers, Spar grocery store, pharmacy etc here. Along with The Talbot Inn, café and takeaway venues. Plus not to mention Rhiannon welsh gold and gift shop.
  • A fantastic little cottage in the middle of the beautiful welsh countryside. Sam was a fantastic host, and the space itself is beautiful. The cottage layout is very cosy and homely, we loved the log burner! Would thoroughly recommend for anyone wanting a quiet weekend in the great outdoors !

  • We spent our Christmas there and we absolutely loved it:) the atmosphere, the decor, the little touches and a lovely, helpful and attentive host. Thank you once again for those magical moments:)

  • Really lovely stay and great communication before and throughout. The postcode isn’t the exact location, however Maria sent us a detailed message for how to find the property. When we arrived it was a bit chilly - however the fire was lit and we managed to do the first night off the fuel provided - which we then replaced the next day and left some behind for the next guests. Lovely little cottage. Definitely worth staying here. Would happily stay again if I was back in this area

    Mike2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Maria’s cottage is wonderful! It was spotlessly clean and the fire was lit awaiting our arrival. The views are stunning, Sam and Stephen next door are amazing and the local wildlife work as a lovely organic alarm clock 😉 The track from the gate down to the cottage requires a slow drive but it’s Wales.. everywhere is up and down and if you’re moving too quickly you’re missing the beautiful views! The locals in the pub were lovely too and we found a really good bitter in there. 10/10 will be staying again and so far our favourite airbnb 😇

    Tom2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in beautiful location. I would definitely recommend

    Briony2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a superb cottage. Lovely and clean, in a great location and a wood burner to gather round on the evenings. We will definitely be back!

    d2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is a beautiful and set in an amazing rural location. If you’re looking to get away and explore the local area it’s perfectly placed. We felt very well looked after by Sam and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here.

    Stuart2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The most perfect break away from it all. Before arriving, Maria was brilliant at sharing local information and giving some great suggestions about places to visit. The cottage is beautiful and the location is gorgeous too. So many things make this a very special place to be; the drive to the property from the road is awesome, Sam and Steve were excellent neighbours and make you feel so welcome, the lit fire makes the home feel so cosy and the views are just stunning when you can see across the fields. Without doubt, a hidden gem of a property; both for the place and the people there. We will be back again soon hopefully!

The narrow gauge Devils Bridge train runs along the hillside opposite with the River Rheidol flowing below. Red Kites can be seen regularly flying in the valley. Glwysgoed is situated approximately 10 miles inland from the University town of Aberystwyth in Cardigan Bay. The property is a comfortable, homely furnished bungalow with a roomy sitting/dining room, including TV/DVD player. This leads into a large electric kitchen fully equipped with automatic washing machine, fridge, cooker and microwave. There is a freezer in the garage. Two twin bedded rooms, bathroom with shower and a separate toilet. Large garden back and front. Dogs welcome, but must be under strict control as livestock grazing on adjoining land. The shepherds hut is situated in a private area on the small holding. It is south facing and has uninterrupted views across the valley. There are many walks that pass by some great pubs that offer good food including the family friendly Half Way pub in Pisgah and the acclaimed Farmers arms. The hut can accommodate up to 2 adults and two children.
Guests are welcomed to feed our ducks and hens, collect eggs and roam our fields. There is plenty of parking and places for the kids to explore and play
We are 10 mins away from Aberystwyth a beautiful seaside town with all the amenities you would expect, golf courses, shops, restaurants including a fantastic fish restaurant called ‘Pysgoty’
  • Elen is outstanding. The shepherds hut is just perfection, so peaceful, in a lovely location and elen has kitted it out with everything you could need for your stay! Such a brilliant host, nothing was too much to ask. By far the best air b&b we have ever stayed at! If I could give 100 stars I would! The hut has a really cosy feel with a super comfy bed, a fully equipped kitchen and a nice powerful shower not to mention the views, it's absolutely idyllic. Aberystwyth is only a short drive away so perfect to nip in and out as and when. We really didn't want to go home and will most definitely be back. Thanks so much to Elen & her lovely family for making us feel so at home.

situated 4 miles from the town of Aberystwyth. Woodburner and oil central heating fuelled by Esse in the kitchen. Bath and seperate shower, downstairs toilet.
  • Lovely gem of a cottage, very clean, well equipped and plenty of room. Large garden, my only concern it was not gated off so had to keep dog on lead in the garden as the road nearby is very busy. Great location if using as a base for Aberystwyth.

    Amanda2020-02-09T00:00:00Z

  • Really lovely, surprisingly large cottage. The beds are super comfortable, the fire gets the living room nice and toasty and it was the perfect relaxing place to spend Christmas. The little additional touches for Christmas such as the outside lights and christmas tree were so appreciated too. Thank you for a great stay!

  • This was a fabulous house for a week-long stay - ideally located for visiting nearby Aberystwyth and the many other attractions in the area. There were only two of us but the house can accommodate up to six and wouldn’t feel crowded thanks to the excellent and large living spaces (we didn’t really use the outdoor areas due to the weather!). Yes, there’s some traffic noise from the road, but it’s not excessive and we soon got used to it. Overall an excellent property that we’d definitely visit again - highly recommended!

  • Glanmad is a typical country Cottage with loads of space to fit 6 persons comfortably. We loved sitting in the conservatory for general chat and games. Would definitely recommend for that Welsh cottage feeling.

Ideal spot for cyclists, walkers, bird watchers, stargazers, sheep admirers, and anyone who wants a break and to reconnect with nature! Get all the benefits of camping in nature, with all the comforts of a home. Not a single neighbour in sight! (except for our farmhouse, but we promise to make ourselves small) Aberystwyth is a 25-minute drive away, and Tregaron is 15 minutes away, with loads of wonderful walks and historic spots closer to us.
COVID-19: Please send us a message first, before booking. NO NEIGHBOURS! Well, except for sheep, the occasional cow, and our pet chickens. The accommodation is surrounded on all sides by sheep pastures. The static caravan has a kitchen, equipped with a gas hob and oven, a fridge, an electric kettle, and all the cutlery and kitchenware necessary to cook for 5 people. There are three bedrooms: one double bedroom, one bedroom with two singles beds, and one bedroom with one single bed. The living room has an old television (but no aerial, so no access to TV channels) connected to a PlayStation 2, which you can use to watch DVDs (we provide a few) and play a handful of PlayStation games. We can also replace the PlayStation console with an ordinary DVD player, if you'd rather your children didn't play video games :-) Each bedroom has an electric radiator, and the living room has a gas heater. The bathroom has an electric towel heater, as well as a shower over a half-bath. There are plenty of windows to watch the surrounding sheep pastures and the Cambrian mountains in the distance! We have built a fire pit in front of the caravan, in case you want to light a camp fire (we do not supply firewood; the nearest shop with logs is an 8-minute drive away). There is also plenty of space around for dogs to run (within our property; as there are sheep pastures around, we can’t let dogs out of our property unleashed).
We are truly buried deep in the Welsh countryside, with a long (well-maintained) track leading to our property. There are walks around, into the woods and fields, with breathtaking views. There are loads of touristic spots around, with wonderful walks and unique landscapes. The Cors Caron nature reserve (5 and 12 minutes away--two different entrances and walks), the Strata Florida abbey (8 minutes away) and Devil's Bridge Falls (25 minutes away) are some of the sightseeing options nearby.

Secluded hut on the beautiful and historic Hafod Estate. For a full description go to www.hafod.org Stunning views and walks amongst forests, hills and waterfalls. Wild swimming in the Ystwyth river .
This is ideal for a stay in a wild and remote location. We provide tea coffee and milk, so please bring provisions. There is no electricity and we provide candles, lamps. and wood for the stove
in the late eighteenth century, the Hafod Estate was designed in the 'picturesque' style by Thomas Johnes, and became an essential destination for visitors touring Wales in search of 'wild nature'.His mansion is long gone but 8 or 9 miles of the walks he laid out have been restored by the Hafod Trust. For much more information go to www.hafod.org
  • I have stayed in huts before and always been cold - but the fire here made it so cosy! Had a really lovely walk over the estate, and then used the bath in the evening, which was amazing! There's a little covered outside area with some pots and pans and a gas stove to make dinner, so no need to leave. Julie and Ned were very friendly and helped us feel very at home making sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend.

  • Beautiful location, very peaceful. Julie and Ned were outstanding hosts, vey helpful and knowledgeable of the Hafod Estate. The gentleman's walk is a must do. Even in February the hut is surprisingly warm and cosy once the log burner has gotten going. The outdoor bath is a great experience, even in the wet and cold you still stay warm and can sit in it for hours! Definitely shall be returning.

  • A fantastic place if you want to get away from it all. A little hermitage in the middle of breathtaking nature. The magical robbers cave just 15 minutes walk away. A definite for anyone who wants retreat recharge and pure powerful nature.

    Shion2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The hut is wonderfully remote, no phone signal in a 10m radius, but the cosiest space you can imagine, built and decorated with lovely touches. The outdoor bathtub is a highlight and we enjoyed a long walk around the estate a lot, without a single person in sight. Despite the freezing temperatures the wood burner keeps the place nice and warm, the bed is very comfortable and we didn't feel like anything was missing at at. Ned was a fantastic host and we would definitely recommend everyone to stay here!

    Julian2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what a magical place. Thank you. We were a little nervous it would be a bit too basic for what we were needing at the time but Julie & Ned have made the Hafod hut a super cozy little heaven, with it's little table & chairs and sheepskin rug you can chat the night away under candleight with the logfire roaring and the sound of the nearby waterfalls! We can't wait to come again! :)

    Ruby2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A huge thank you to Julie and Ned!!! Incredibly hospitable in an even more incredible location.. the most beautiful hut with quirky touches with the most scenic views! Definitely recommend for a relaxation break at one with nature. Will be back!

The stylish newly built but quaint cottage sleeps 2-4, is spacious and comfortable with everything needed in a home from home. Beautiful countryside views can be enjoyed from the lounge and bedroom. The large south facing patio and enclosed garden leads to a lush meadow for stunning sea and mountain views. Close to Aberystwyth yet enjoying a peaceful and stunning location the setting is open countryside with delightful wildlife all around. A Stream nearby adds to the charm of the place.
Derwen (Oak) Cottage is a detached cottage located on a 14 acre small-holding where wild-life is encouraged. The nearby stream is a magnet for a variety of birds and wild animals - rabbits, hares, moles, wood-peckers, Red Kites and many more varieties of birds.
A long lane from the B4340 means traffic noise and disturbance is minimal. Neighbours are sufficiently distanced and also enjoy the peaceful and tranquil area.
  • Very comfortable spacious holiday home in a lovely location. Lovely bed and comfortable seating. Very well equipped kitchen. Whilst traffic nearby can be busy during the day, evening and weekends it was really peaceful. The owners couldn't be welcoming and helpful, lovely people. Location is quiet and rural but only five minutes Aberystwyth and the coast road.

  • Marilyn Thank you so much we loved the house. We greatly appreciated the warm welcome. The house is really lovely. We can tell how much time and effort you have put into it. Peaceful location - so very relaxing. We loved everything about it. You have thought of everything! Sparkling clean. Comfortable and warm. Lovely bedroom. Thank you for the milk and cookies. We saw red kites from the lounge window flying over the fields. We look forward to returning.

  • Superb cottage in Aberystwyth, Marilyn was an excellent host who made us feel very welcome. The cottage was extremely clean and tidy with special touches on arrival.

    Lucy2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in beautifully peaceful surroundings. Has everything you need and very clean. Only a short drive from the town centre (or a taxi costs about £8), so in easy reach of local shops and attractions. Marilyn is a great host, made us feel very welcome and left some milk, biscuits, tea bags etc Recommended!

    Gavin2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you love Aberystwyth, as I do, and want to stay somewhere private, but only a few minutes drive from all the amenities, then Marilyn's cottage is your go-to. Well equipped, spacious and modern, but still had that cosy, cottage feel to it. The heating was lovely to come home to after taking the dog along Borth beach, and relaxing in a lovely big lounge with double patio doors , watching the rain and the little birds. Gorgeous place and a gorgeous location. We didn't want for anything. We certainly will be visiting again. Marilyn was such a good host, so helpful and friendly. We may have had a nightmare drive to get here, but when we walked through the door it was worth it !! Thank you so much Marilyn x

Perfect for weekend breaks, but we would definitely book it for a longer stay! Hosts were fantastic and couldn't do enough for us.

  • Nice, clean cottage in a quiet village deep in the mountains. The overall experience was great. The only problem is that there is no heating in the bathroom, making shower-taking an experience not so pleasant - but it is a cottage, what else can you expect? Good location, and good value for money.
