  • Perfect accommodation, lots of interesting information is present and Alice and Paul are always there to answer your questions. Take your time (3 hours of even more!) to visit the very interesting kaurimuseum, just a 15min drive. Also nearby a nice walk through a kauri reserve, where you probably will be alone to admire these trees. Merci beaucoup Alice and Paul for our nice and interesting stay

We live in the middle of nowhere If you like quiet you will love it here. Although we heard a car go past two days ago. We have 93 acres with Native forest, chickens / cattle / calves and the cutest little Kune Kune pigs you'll ever meet. We have the privilege of sharing our home with a succession of puppies mostly Labradors; all of whom are Blind Foundation guide dog in training. And we are all ruled over with the Iron Claw of our SPCA rescue cat Ebony
We only take one booking per day so whether there is one, three or five of you, you will have the entire ground floor of our home for your use. Including your own bathroom with a Spa bath. In the land of the Hobbits, home of the bungy jump and the jet boat; here is your chance to spend a night or two doing nothing, Refresh, Relax, Reflect, coffee on the deck, beer in front of the fire, wine in a candle lit bath or picnic under the trees. We offer you the opportunitty to do nothing and all the equipment you need to do it.
Green and quiet we have by the bucket load we are in the middle of nowhere and offer a great opportunity to do nothing. Sunsets, walks, mountain bike rides, picnics in the trees and star gazing (sometimes) with the kiwi is about as hard out as we go. The Matakohe Kauri Museum is a place we are all very proud of and is well worth the visit. The Paparoa Village Farmers Market on Saturday morning is where we shop. The Thirsty Tui also in Paparoa Is our local Pub. We are constantly working our way through their seasonal menu. We usually have a late lunch or early dinner on our way home from the markets.
  • A lovely relaxing space to pause between your trips. We only stayed one night but had a nice chat with Ross in the evening and slept very good! We highly recommend a stop at their farm if you like to meet some locals and get some advices where to go/ what to see! :)

  • Sara and Peter are the most amazing hosts! Highly recommend staying with them. Thank you guys.

    Adam2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very Nice farmstay with surprise: beautiful walk to the mountaintop with Peter and farmvisit. Had dinner and breakfast together with Peter and Sara. Very nice conversations and great hospitality.

    Adrie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • With Sara and Peter you feel at home from the first contact and this feeling remains even when you are visiting. They integrate their guest into their home and those who feel like it can even milk or ride with cows. The house is beautiful, the room spacious. The bathroom and toilet are shared by the guests (we were two of us). There is an excellent breakfast and if you want you can have dinner in the evening for a small fee. All in all, highly recommended accommodation.

  • My wife and I have been staying at airBNB for over a month in Australia and New Zealand and can honestly say this was the most enjoyable stay we’ve had, and we have had some very delightful stays. They took charge immediately in helping us feel comfortable on their hobby farm. The bedroom and private bath in a quiet country atmosphere was perfect for this Kansas farm couple, with REAL awesome food. We were delighted in seeing all the animals they tend to and sharing stories about each other’s children. Sara let us help feed many of the critters and Peter brought out his wonderful telescope for a great view of the moon. If you don’t care to interact with your hosts, and be made to feel like family, don’t stay here. I give them a perfect 10 on all counts.

    Janice2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • You couldn't get more friendly hosts. We felt like we had known Peter and Sarah for years and were encouraged to use the house as our own. Great to meet Spike the goat, Cleo, Bailey and all other farm animals in such lovely surroundings.

    Robert2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The best Airbnb experience I have ever had, cross my heart. Both Sara and Peter are kind, warm, open and fun. I had such a great time even though I only stayed for one night. They really do everything to make you feel at home. Definitely will come back though ;)

Situated in the middle of our family's working dairy farm, this space is the perfect place to unwind. 100% powered by our off-grid solar power system. Enjoy gorgeous view of river, sea and farmland from bed! Includes a kitchen with two burner gas stovetop, microwave, toaster, kettle, plus a BBQ, and of course private bathroom. Free wifi is provided. A lovely rural retreat to unwind in or use as a base to explore Pouto Peninsula, Ripiro Beach, Kai Iwi Lakes and Northland's hidden treasures.
Enjoy a queen bed with super comfy mattress (people who stay want to take it home!), organic cotton sheets and quality bedding. A couch which pulls out into a futon Queen bed is also available - let us know if you plan to use it so we can pop out some extra bedding. The room best suits two guests - as all beds are in one space it can feel a little crowded when sofa bed is pulled out - but can accomodate up to 4 if you wish. Please let us know if you require a porta-cot or need anything extra provided if travelling with a baby or children. The cottage has its own bathroom- shower, toilet. Kitchen has a fridge (with a jug of farm fresh milk provided), two-burner gas stove top, toaster, kettle, microwave, toasted sandwich maker, plus fresh UV-filtered spring water on tap. We have a gas BBQ set up and available for cooking on patio if weather is good! The cottage is located next to our house - at the end of garage, private, but close to us if you need anything. 10 minutes drive to Glinks Gully and the beach or you can walk through our family farm - it's a stunning walk with amazing views and approximately 3km to the beach (30-40 minute walk down, 45 minute walk back up the hill!). There are plenty of other farm walks you can take too. We are completely powered by solar panels - 100% off grid. We have chooks and honey bees on our property, (and sometimes other animals!) and are surrounded by the family dairy farm. Our family's cows start calving in mid March (we Autumn calve and cows milk once a day in the morning) - if you are keen to see the calves let us know! Please feel free to forage and eat from our organically grown vegetable gardens, which are next to the cottage and on the front lawn. Heater is installed to keep you nice and toasty in the winter; all windows have fly screens so you can catch the summer breeze. Enjoy the good life, off-grid, on farm. Follow us on Instagram @thehiddennorth #hiddennorthnz
We live on a costal dairy farm so it's a pretty neat location. Our property is 30 minutes south of Dargaville on the Poutu peninsula - Tasman Sea on one side, Northern Wairoa River on the other. We are approximately 10 minutes drive from Glinks Gully/Ripiro beach (car access right to beach), or a 30-40 minute walk through our farm to Ripiro beach. It's a 49 minute drive to the superb Kai Iwi Lakes, a 40 minute drive from Tokatoka peak (an excellent little climb!) and 80 minutes from Tane Mahuta. Dargaville's excellent maritime museum is 30 minutes drive, Matakohe Kauri Museum is 60 minutes.
  • If you want to switch off, in a "Our little farm" / "Doll kitchen atmosphere", you have to go here. An extremely lovingly arranged accommodation that could also be found in "beautiful living". The hosts are very helpful. Even if you can already hear the kids great, the pain limit is not reached. I felt very comfortable, even if only for 1 night. Clear recommendation!

    Andreas2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect Host , lovely family (so hospitable!!!) and cozy cottage with perfect view. Don’t miss to see the lake ( what a perfect place to hang out and swim with your family) and the Forrest - ask for it!

It was clean, comfortable and very private, with a terrific, well-stocked kitchen and very nice bedrooms and bathroom. It was very good value for money and exceeded my wife's and my expectations.

    Jaime2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This house is spectacular! She provides everything you can thing of and much more. The beds are heaven. Every cooking utensil you need is there. We wished we could have stayed longer.

    Kim2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean, stylish cottage. Incredible views! Robyn was very quick to reply to any messages and also kindly posted some items I left behind back to me. Would definitely stay again.

  • An amazing and beautiful holiday home. A nice setting in the bush with beautiful views over the Kaipara. The interior of the house is very "tastefully " done. A magnificent place to relax. All the amenities were there for us to use. One word " superb ".

WELCOME!! Rustic, rural and relaxing is our goal for you. We are happy to provide a double bedroom with a queen size bed and a separate lounge/kitchenette with microwave and fridge. We are situated directly opposite the Dargaville Field Days site, and are two minutes from the main shopping centre. Bayly's Beach is a mere 14kms from us and Tane Mahuta in the Waipoua Forest beckons as does the Kai-Iwi Lakes and the rest of Northland. ENJOY!!
We have a four bedroom home, 2 of which we are happy to provide for your comfort. There is a separate toilet and an aged bathroom with some modern touches for your use. We live rurally on the edge of town, so we get the best of both worlds. Peace and tranquility, yet the freedom knowing we don't have to go far for shopping, doctor etc. We are more than happy for you to wander around the section and help yourself to some fruit whilst walking around.
It is a quiet neighbourhood with just a little road noise, but nothing of any consequence.
  • Lesley and her family were great hosts. They are friendly, but mindful of respecting guests' privacy, and provided some useful tips to me on walks in the area. The accommodation is spacious and clean, and has a green outlook over fruit trees and a lawn. Despite being on the state highway you do not hear any traffic noise because the bedroom and living area are at the back of the property. I enjoyed wandering in the garden, and being able to pick the odd bit of fruit from the trees! Thanks for a great stay

  • I stayed in Lesley and Maurice's place for 2 nights. Lesley and Maurice are great hosts, they welcomed me and showed me around the house when I got there. The house is divided in 2 parts, one for them and one for the guests. I had the whole guest section for me, so it was really great. The place was super clean, extra pillows and blankets. Also, private access. Lesley's house is located very close to the centre, I would say it's walking distance. I was really busy when I went to Dargaville, so unfortunately, I couldn't spend much time with the hosts, but the last day we had a really good and friendly chat and I can tell you that these guys have a big heart. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay at Lesley and Maurice's place, and if what you are after is privacy this is the place for you as they will respect that 100% Have a great time in Dargaville and surroundings.

    Natalia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lesley and Maurice are very nice and helpful people! The place is awesome and close to the city center. You have your own area but Lesley is always available if you need anything. I can highly recommend this place and would definitely stay there again!

  • I had an excellent stay here in Dargaville. The room(s) were private and very comfortable. The house is only a short 2 minute drive from town and the hosts were very friendly. There was also a nice private, small living room for breakfast and tv, etc. Recommended to all.

Lovely, modern, spacious self-contained ground floor apartment. 5-minute walk to the awe-inspiring Ripiro beach, the longest driving beach in NZ. New queen bed and bathroom, fully equipped kitchenette, wi-fi. 12 minutes from Dargaville's shops and restaurants. The perfect base for exploring Kai Iwi Lakes, the ancient Kauri forest (40 min), etc. Friendly hosts Gary & Yoko will ensure your privacy. Note: we have two young children who are well trained but occasionally make a bit of noise.
The perfect place to wind down after a day exploring the changing landscape of the 100km driving beach: just open the windows and hear the sea roar, or chill out in the sheltered outdoor area. Spacious one bedroom (with new queen bed) and living room/kitchenette with large fridge, lots of kitchenware, washing machine, fully self-contained. There's ample parking out front, easy access to apartment, TV, wi-fi, new single sofa bed. Local takeaways/general store Sharky's is a 5-minute walk. Note: single sofa bed in the living room suitable for children only. Note: there is no view of sea from the apartment itself.
Baylys is a small, friendly beach community that attracts everyone from passionate fishers to artisans and professionals, many of whom work in Dargaville. Like much of the West Coast of NZ, it's free of the commercial trappings of tourism, and retains its old-fashioned charm.
  • Great place for a stop over when travelling down the West Coast. Gary and his lovely daughter met us and were full of advice and instructions to enhance our stay. We were also provided with beautiful drawings. Thank you Minay. Accommodation is as described. No complaints at all and actually good value compared to some of our stays.

    Lesley2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Gary and Yoko’s place is spacious and well equipped. The nearby beach and hilltop walk are beautiful. Gary did an excellent job of communicating via email before my arrival. Dining options are limited in Baylys Beach (the one place was hosting a large party and not serving other customers the evening I was there), so consider Dargaville for dinner.

    Martin2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately, I spent only one night in this wonderful stay. It‘s a very nice place and I was really happy, that this lovely and helpful family shares her home with guests. Thank you very much, Gary, for your invaluable tips, not only the good coffee bars! I could also enjoy a beautiful sunset after a few minute-walk to the part of the 107 km long beach. Don‘t miss it, when you are here.

    Helga2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Gary welcomed us personally and gave us some great tips about walks etc. The apartment was spotlessly clean and everything we needed was catered for...loads of space and bright and airy with a very comfortable bed! A great position for both access to the beach and also to visit Sharky’s Restaurant in the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again.

    Celia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Gary has great local knowledge and tips to share - very helpful The facilities are everything you require for an enjoyable trip A hidden gem

We live on a lifestyle block about 7 minutes drive North of Kaiwaka. The cabin is self contained. It has a small lounge/kitchen/dining; bathroom with shower, toilet and wash basin. A bedroom with two king size single beds. In the lounge is a fold out sofa, which turns into a double bed. The kitchen has pots, pans, cups, plates and cutlery. There is coffee, tea, milo, milk and sugar. There is no Wifi inside the unit, it is outside and guests are also welcome to use the Wifi inside our house.
Guests with children should be aware that we are bordering a lake. The private lake is surrounded by lifestyle blocks, so it is very peaceful and quiet here. We have a jetty from which you can jump or dive straight into the water. We also have a very friendly Golden retriever dog, Chloe, who wants to say hello to everybody.
Our place is a lifestyle block about 7 minutes drive North of Kaiwaka. Kaiwaka is a small town with, amongst others, a very good 4 square grocery shop, a yummy bakery, Eutopia cafe and a dutch cheese shop. There is also a pub, restaurant as well as lunch bars. We are about 15 minutes drive from Mangawhai village, with more restaurants, art gallery and craft shops. Another 5-10 minutes takes you to Mangawhai surf beach, where you can also take a beautiful coastal walk. Our land is adjacent to a lake, which covers about 25 acres.
  • Amazing lake location, very clean. Comfortable beds and great shower. Thanks to Christa and husband who are fantastic hosts. Would highly recommend

    Elena2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • My mother and I had a lovely stay and we would highly recommend to anyone hoping to get away from the hustles and bustles. We only spent one night there (breaking up our travels from Tauranga to the Bay of Islands) but could have easily hung out there for a few days. Very helpful hosts and an awesome scenic spot - the kayaks were a great addition too!

    Liam2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The thing I must have enjoyed most, was taking a dip in that beautiful lake. The view is stunning, and it's like the whole world melts away. Christa was very friendly and greeted me with strawberries from Henk's beautiful garden. They were both very attentive, and the dog was such a sweetheart. This is the perfect place to stay. It's perfectly located between 2 towns that offer beautiful beaches, restaurants, museums, a cheese factory, and a chocolate factory. It has a fully functioning kitchen, and there is a lot of room inside and outside to spread. I'm definitely coming back again!

    Joanie2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great spot to unwind, enjoy walks around the lake and the rural atmosphere.

    Colette2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Christa’s place. Warm couple whom own a lovely peaceful place. The unit itself was exceptionally clean. Highly recommend.

    Daniel2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay - it’s was exactly what we needed for a quick stop over on our way further north. Just as a side note we didn’t have any reception at all in the cabin which was fine as we were only there for 1 night. I think you can step outside if you are really desperate and of course if you need WiFi you are able to use it at the main house :)

  • Excellent place. The best value we have seen anywhere so far on our travels on the north island. An entire guest unit at a very good price. Richard provided some tips on places to see in area and farther north.

    Johann2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Richard's home is a perfect spot to stay up north. He is incredibly friendly and hospitable. You can see the sun rise over the horizon, and it's beautiful. I would definitely return!

    Sean2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We thought we were booking a room and got an entire apartment just for us! It was great for us, especially because we arrived late and still wanted to cook. So we didn't bother anyone and Richard was still so attentive to give us a lemon for the fish. He is very personable and attentive. We really enjoyed our privacy and the nice contact with him too!

    Tina2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is our 2nd stay with Richard. Wish we had booked more nights in the beginning as this bnb has gotten very popular. The home is very clean and comfy and we would stay again.

  • This cottage is really fantastic. You have everything you need and much more. The house is huge and really clean and tidy. Richard is a wonderful host, he is always friendly and laughing. We instantly felt home. I would give 6 stars if I could. The price is unbeatable. Thank you very much for having us, wishing you all the best

  • GOOD VALUE. The unit is new and of high quality. The bed is extremely comfortable (firm mattress), the living room is a bit minimal but very functional. Richard is laid back and welcoming. He made us feel at home while providing us total privacy. The beaches were a short drive away. Great place for a short stay!

Also not far from Matakohe Kauri Museum and local artists John and Anne Ecuyer just across the road from the museum. You'll meet the dogs and the goats and the chooks. A bit of paradise. Maddie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Truly the best Airbnb experience I have ever had, every detail of this place is absolutely perfect. If you are contemplating booking Amees beautiful tent I highly recommend you do so. Firstly, it is extremely private with a lot of activities to do within minutes walk. The stream is extraordinarily serene and beautiful, the mountain/hill side was optimal for viewing sunsets and star gazing, and the glow worms were the perfect touch to end the evening. If you have never seen shooting stars, look no further. I have never seen stars so abundant and bright in my life! And we saw several servers shooting stars while star gazing! The tent itself is absolutely gorgeous with a simple yet rich atmosphere. The bed is comfy, the couch and table is also very nice. The deck is absolutely divine for star gazing also! And to bask in the morning sun. Do bring a picnic mat or something if you’d like some comfort when lying down! Do not underestimate the hammock, it was truly delightful to get some shade and breeze while relaxing. Even the bathroom was great! The bathtub is a must use on your stay here!!! If you’re worried about bugs you really do not have to be. Neither my friend or me were bitten by bugs at all and we spent most of our time outside on the deck even at night time. Not to mention the host herself, Amee, was extremely kind and hospitable. She let us know about all the activities and she also leaves a clear file of all the information you could ever need while you are there. If you are planning on coming here in winter she even provides fire wood for the fire place! Amee if you are reading this, thank you!! You really made our stay here :)

    Jenny2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Host was amazing, I asked if they can help with hot water as there is no electricity in the tent and they lent me a gas cooker and kettle :)

    Albert2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely experience! We asked if we can checkin earlier than the required checkin time and Amee was very kind and allowed us without paying additional fee :).. we were greeted by Amee and John upon arrival. John showed us the way to the tent and gave us instructions on the activities that we can do. We went on a hike and saw some wild goats. We went to see the falls/stream, then at night we went and see the glow worms. The tent is bigger from the picture and there is toilet and bath with hot&cold water which is a plus. Will surely recommend this to our friends. Thank you Amee and John. 😊

  • A magical weekend away. We loved our dips in the watering hole, the stars at night, the comfy bed, breakfast on the deck (thank you for the camp stove for water boiling!), nature all around. Definitely worth staying a second night to really get to appreciate all that this slice of heaven offers. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in this very special spot.

    Craig2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amee was such a lovely host, plus her farm dog was adorable! Amee showed us around her property and let us know of different kinds of activities we can do there. The lotus tent was surprising more spacious than I thought and it was sparkling clean! Loved sitting in the tub and gazing out from the little window! Would come back again.

One of the best places to stay because of its location handy to the Pouto Peninsular, the West Coast Beach entry at Glinks Gully - 102 k's of Rolling Surf, White sands and not much else - especially people, Unusual Fresh Water Sand Dune Lakes, the interesting Dargaville Museum, Kauri Forests, the Bird Life, Horse Riding, Bike Riding, Tramping, The Night Sky ...... and Tranquility!!!! Your own SPACE for a day or two at least. As they say .... The Pavilion is a real GEM.
The Pavilion is a renovated historical building comprising a bedroom with en-suite, modern well appointed kitchen, living room opening onto a large deck overlooking beautiful farmland, gardens including lakes, with vistas of rural Northland. This is a place for peace and quiet, time to relax. Or the opportunity to have a game of petanque if desired. If you are interested in birdwatching, a variety of birds share the surrounding water and wet lands. Frogs can be of great interest to many visitors. Tranquility!!!! Uppermost!!! This is definitely a rural setting. No traffic noise. The magnificent West Coast beach, approximately 100km long about 8 minutes away, with access from Glinks Gully. The Kaipara Harbour on the Eastern side of the Pouto Peninsular famous for its fresh water sand dune lakes is just down the road, and a variety of outdoor challenges are available ... all at your back door. Situated on a 90 acre farm, with private drive, safe, secure and a warm welcome await one and all.
Peace and Tranquility, expansive views, the close location to one of the worlds most fantastic beaches. Privacy.

Most magical spot on the Kaipara Harbour. Secluded, walks, safe swimming, great fishing and views. Couples, solos, families (roll out bed, space for a tent). Kitchen facilities and hot-water shower. It's glamping - use the nearby meticulous public toilet. Fish from the beach or boat - ramp nearby and space to park your boat) or kayak. With historic Batley House - and us - nearby, you'll be on a peninsula on a 1000-acre farm less than two hours from Auckland and 20 mins from Maungaturoto.
Retreat on the edge of the harbour and in a cosy nook protected from prevailing wind. Great walks, safe swiming and good fishing. The area is steeped in history. You can walk along the beach heading both ways and up the hill behind our house for amazing views. It's quiet and private - most people haven't heard of Batley. Some locals launch their boats here, but often you'll have the beach to yourselves. For history buffs - there's an historic church nearby and this was once a pioneer settlement with a wharf, fish factories, flour mill, shop, post office, church and school - and lots of people. Our house was a boarding house and hotel. My book, 'Love at the End of the Road' tells the area's story - there's a copy in the cabin. It's a perfect place to chill out and enjoy the environment - the birdlife, the everchanging colours of the sea and hills, or catch up on reading in the peace and quiet.
Batley is at the end of a peninsula that comprises farmland and native trees. You'll look across the harbour to Oneriri Peninsula. You can swim, walk, paddle, fish, kayak from the beach in front of the cabin or launch larger boats from the nearby ramp to go cruising or fishing. It's quiet - some days there might be only you although Santa has been known to arrive by chopper to delight the local Fire Brigade children. There are a handful of houses within about 4km. There are sheep and cattle in the paddocks and a horse. Walk up the hill behind the house for great views. This was a busy pioneer area and the aura of that still exists.
  • Amazing place! Complete serenity and the water at your doorstep, what more could you need!

    Rachel2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much Rae and Rex. We had an amazing break. I loved being able to get in the water everyday. Either to swim or to make friends with the sea creatures. You were kind and considerate, giving us space when we needed it, and company when we needed it. The cabin was affordable which given our budget was really important. It made our visit possible on the first place. I miss the water already, and I would highly recommend my Airbnb friends pay Kaipara a visit. Thank you, Brooke

It meets my needs perfectly.

  • This was one of the best accommodations we ever had. It was all sparkling clean and tidy. You have everything you need and much more. We really loved the little extras in the room. Perfect private bathroom and awesome view!! Heather and Brad are really nice and lovely people !!! The mattress is so comfy, we didn’t want to get up in the morning. In my opinion, the price is too cheap for the service you get. (First air bnb since 3 months with flyscreen, so no worries leaving the windows open :D). Would definitely come back back. Highly recommend !!!

This solar powered cabin is set in its own secluded area on a lifestyle property. Enjoy the bush views, BBQ on the deck, listening to birdsong, and the sound of the nearby stream. The cabin is set amongst native trees and is 10 minutes drive to Mangawhai. The cabin features a loft bedroom, generous deck, unique shower and an outdoor bath. It has a fridge, gas cooker, tea and coffee. A chemical toilet. Relax to the sounds of native birds, and if you are lucky, the call of the kiwis at night.
To view a video of the cabin and surrounds go to You Tube and search: Totara tree cabin. On another part of our rural property we now also have "Grace the Classic Kiwi House truck". Check it out on AirBnb.

Your friendly, hospitable hosts live onsite in a separate dwelling, they totally respect guest privacy but can be on hand for any necessities and queries you may have.
The cottage is unique in its rural setting but a short stroll to the beach. The best of both worlds with great restaurants near by. We also have an outside shower (hot & cold water) to rinse off those surfboards and wet-suits. Perfect place for a barbie and if the weather changes we have netflixs, Sport, National Geographics, History etc to watch on flat screen TV. We are dog friendly and welcome well-behaved dogs to socialise with our Billy, Scottish Terrier. Ideal spot for a lengthy stay, to unwind and re-charge. - lots of nearby walks and surfing. Just amazing beaches!
Waipu is a rural town, with strong scottish traditions and background. The museum would be a worthwhile visit to learn about the first decendants to Waipu. There are many walks in the area along the beach, interesting caves to visit, waterfalls, Markets in Waipu, Mangawhai, Ruakaka, Whangarei. There is soooo much to do here.
  • Heather and John were absolutely amazing hosts. Could not say enough great things about them. The home was stylish and spotless with beautiful views, great location, and comfortable amenities. Will definitely be back and will be recommending to friends. Beach has good surf and great for adults and kids alike.

  • The cottage was sparkling clean, with all the utensils, linen comforts required to make our stay easy and enjoyable. So close to Langes beach, Waipu beach and The Cove resturant for breakfast lunch dinner, or coffee. We visited Mangawhai, the Glow worm caves, spent lots of time on the nearby beaches , walking and swimming, enjoyed the Markets , sat on our wee deck and enjoyed coffee with Heathers welcoming home baked treat, and BBQ sometimes at night. TV Netflix, Wifi, mags, used the outdoor shower morning and night, books everything you need. A Wonderful stay!

  • Our stay with Heather and John was really wonderful. The cottage was so pleasant, clean and well stocked we really had few needs. The kitchen is large and has every conceivable thing we needed - we were there for a month and did a lot of cooking too. The WiFi was always available along with cable, NetFlix etc. We could walk to 4 different beaches. You can swim, surf, paddle or just sun bathe. Very pleasant. Plus we walked the coastal trail between the beaches almost every day. It was quite nice. The night sky was absolutely spectacular! We didn’t have a vehicle for most of our stay, so we walked a lot and were never bored. However, if you want to shop and do the touristy kind of things, you’ll need a car. Again, Heather & John were great hosts, helping us with our planning and giving us great advice. They couldn’t have been more accommodating. Truly, we’ve been traveling for 7 months and have not had a better stay!

  • OUTSTANDING PEACEFUL HOME Heather and John are such great and friendly host! We arrived Christmas Day and they were merry and we felt so welcomed! The house is perfect clean and New! The main bed is so comfortable and the pillows are like clouds. The pull out bed in the lounge is like a real bed too! The place is cosy and is a great space for the perfect break away, would suit anyone wanting and needing a BREAK! And to be away from the hustle and bustle but have Waipu and Whangarei “around the corner” (kiwi saying) Ask Heather for a local tip on where to go swimming such a beautiful hidden spot and we had the BEST swim there. Lang’s beach is a short drive and an awesome body surfing beach. Pack a wee lunch bag and park up under a Pohutukawa Tree and enjoy the views. Best coffee is from Waipu Cove. Call ahead. Groceries from the 4 square in Waipu or fresh choice in Ruakaka. So if your are wanting a place to relax and recharge your battery’s then this is the HOME for you!

  • A great place for escaping the city. Mark’s place is stylish, with views of a beautiful valley and the nearby coast. So quiet, apart from the glorious bird song. Comfy bed; great breakfast ingredients and lovely outside verandah with herb garden. Loved the sunken, outside bath in the decking. Not far from beautiful Waipu Cove - great for a walk, swim or surf. The cafe overlooking the bay is well worth a visit. Mangawhai Cliff walk is worth the 2/3 hours also.

  • The Retreat is a magical and tranquil place for a getaway, its location is perfect with beaches and cafes only a 20 min drive away. I highly recommend Ruakaka Beach if you have your furbabies with you. The place was really cozy and comfortable, and had all the right spaces for everything you need. Mark is the perfect host with great communication and was very supportive when I had issues with my car. This place was amazing and would definitely love to come back again!

We have 1 bedroom available in a modern house, situated on a rural area on a life style block. Experience the tranquility of country living with hosts who love meeting new travelers. We have a variety of animals that you are welcome to socialize with. We have bees near the house.
  • Sara and Peter are truly amazing people! They provide absolutely the best Airbnb service . The room was very clean and bed was comfortable. The home cooked wholesome meal( most ingredients came from their garden) was delicious. They invited me for dinner and served fresh scallops which they caught from scuba diving that day! I was so impressed! I fed their animal with Sara, milked the cows with Peter! We climbed Kota Kota, and Peter taught me a lot about New Zealand flora. It was a wonderful New Zealand farm live experience!

    Xueli2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Just go to Sara and Peter, it will be completely different from what you are used to. It’s fabulous.

  • Sara and Peter are the lovliest hosts. We had the most amazing time with them and are so thankful for everything. We only spent one night at their house but our son already said we have to come back. They are super friendly and the experiences are just absolutely amazing. From feeding animals to milking cows to climbing a mountain. And our dog Oscar loved the place too. HIGHLY recommended!

  • My partner and I decided to go on a quick one-day road trip without a destination in mind, we looked for a pet friendly place on AirBNB and Peter & Sara's place showed up. The hospitality is amazing, my dogs Taco and Loki were so happy playing with Bella while Peter took us exploring and sightseeing.

    Rafael2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sara and Peter are just great. It feels like home. I could meet so many animals and learn about farm life. I even experienced being in the middle of a swarm of bees. The food was just amazing and we had some nice talks at dinner. I definitely recommend to stay for 2 nights. You won’t regret it!
