The apartment was easy to find with GPS and very well located to both the beach and to visit El Yunque. The view from the balcony is spectacular. The only main negative was that the neighbors have a rooster than starts crowing at 6am. So unless you are a very heavy sleeper you will get woken up very early. I suggest ear plugs. The accommodations are fine and adequate for the price.

This place has the most gorgeous views. It has basic amenities and is comfortable. We had a wonderful stay!

While Alain wasn't there during our stay, he made sure we were able to get directions and get settled in easily. The location is as advertised, with a stellar view of Luquillo, a banana tree we were lucky enough to pick bananas off of, and an amazing nighttime chorus of coquis and other rainforest creatures. Car is a must, but easy to get to the center of town, the kioskos and beach, or El Yunque. Roosters are loud during the day and there is some construction off and on but we were our and about so it didn't bother us. Overall a great location in the area!

Great place to stay. The view was a little blocked off by some trees, but that did not ruin anything. The house does get hot without A/C. But the best part of this place is the location, very close to the El Yunque RainForest. If you plan on checking out the rainforest, you should stay here. Didnt meet Alain but he gave us good directions and had no problems.

We had a great stay at Allain's place in Luquillo. The view is a million dollar view, as promised. The bed in the master bedroom is set up so that you wake up to the view of El Yunque. Beware, however, that you may be awoken by roosters and chickens as there seems to be a den nearby. The house has a nice porch to drink coffee and gaze at the view. The house covers all the basics: kitchen, dishes, beds, sheets, hot water, etc. It is a bit lacking in decor, but overall offers a great stay. Allain was also a great host. He was very communicative, and helped navigate the area as far as finding beaches, and a good hike into the El Yunque rainforest.

We went back and forth between 'average' and 'not great,' and settled on 'average.' The host was quick to reply to texts and phone calls and the property was easy to find based on his directions. The property itself though needs attention. The mattress in master bedroom was worn; very lumpy and saggy. The curtains in the master bedroom all feel on me as soon as I tried to pull them shut - everytime. In the bathroom the shower curtain is partly torn from the shower rod and the shower rod is partly pulling from the wall. The toilet paper holder has been pulled from its mounting leaving only part of it remaining. It just had a very "tired" feel to it. We never felt physical safety was endangered, but we - and our friends renting the other side of this property - feel the property did not meet the description.

The good: Beautiful view and very conveniently located close to El Yunque, Luquillo Beach, and Fajardo ferries. The bad: very few basic comforts (e.g., a night table, extra towels and linens, kitchen basics), kitchen and bathroom were not very clean, the sofa was stained and a bit smelly. The screen to the balcony door, which we had to keep open to stay cool, has a big gap. As a result, after a big rainfall, the house filled with mosquitoes. Very little sound barrier with the attached apartment and with guests smoking on the shared balcony the smell got into the bedroom.

Although we never met him in person, Alain seems to be a very friendly person by phone. His place is a bit difficult to find, but his friend was very patient and talked us through finding Alain's home. When we arrived there was a bit of construction going on, but it was no big deal - it was wrapped up within about 30 minutes after our check in time. Be prepared for a rural experience. Ie: no wifi and lots of sounds of nature. Personally I enjoyed this aspect of Alain's place. There were other people in the attached apartment but they were quiet and did not disturb us at all. As some others mentioned, it did seem that the apartment wasn't completely prepared for our arrival. For example, there were no towels in the bathroom...they were still drying in the dryer machine when we arrived. No big deal, but it was noticed.

Alain made us feel very welcome, even though we never met in person. The listing was accurate. The apartment house was very comfortable. The neighborhood was not too far from town. At night you can hear the Coqui frogs, but we never got to see any.

Great location for exploring El Yunque! The neighboring unit separated by a door was unexpected. We used the fan in the room to block out their voices at night, which unfortunately also blocked out the sound of the coqui frogs. Overall we would recommend Alain's place if you need a place to sleep after a day of exploration in El Yunque. As others have suggested the kitchen amenities are very basic. The laundry would be great to use if you're at the end of your trip, though we did not get a chance to use it. Thank you for sharing your space with us.

Alain was great about setting up this rental. I was travelling with my girlfriend and wanted to spend one night in the rainforest while we were in PR. It was difficult to find, but Alain responded immediate to give further direction. The apartment itself was fine, like a simple cottage in the countryside. We were dissappointed when we got there however, because the room should accommodate two adults, but there was only one pillow, and not enough clean linen. The bed was quite uncomfortable and the mattress was covered in plastic. Some linens were even left wet in the washing machines. It looked as if someone had stopped half way in getting the place ready. The balcony was barred and locked so we couldn't access it. And the neighbours (also a rental) were watching TV until late night (they had TV, but our apartment didn't); there was only a door separating the two of us (not very secure), so we could hear everything which kept us up. We also woke up to three stray dogs wandering the front yard; not dangerous, more curious than anything, just the joys of being in the countryside. The view is truly remarkable however, and the noises of the rain forest at night are unlike anything I've ever heard (very loud, but I enjoyed it and found it relaxing). There is a stove and sink and fridge for your use, but we had to wash everything we used before using it because we found a dead roach in the container with the dishes. I probably wouldn't stay there again unless some improvements were made or the price was more reasonable. There were other options in the same area (which is breathtaking, truly) for similar prices and more comfortable.

This place is unique and very special. We wish we could of stayed another night for sure. This is an open air hotel very eco and nature based. We loved it! Loved the dinner also. We would of only changed one thing ... drove a 4 wd vehicle up that big hill! :)

The property is beautiful and very private. My room was very comfortable and the view was gorgeous. Raphael was a great host, and I really enjoyed the dinner. Would recommend 4x4 to get up the dirt road to the hotel. Great trail nearby through the forest with beautiful flowers and plants.

We saved this part of our stay for our last night in Puerto Rico and really couldn't think of a more relaxing way to end our short vacay here. We stayed in room number 3, had a pretty view of the sun setting through the clouds and the trees. In the morning we put our alarm to wake up at 6am to watch the sunrise from the back of the property which I highly suggest anyone doing, it's absolutely breathtaking! Then go back to bed and get up a few hours later for a simple continental breakfast. Rafael also asked us in advance if we wanted dinner which we did and he cooked up a great home meal of rice, chicken and plantains which was delicious! Highly recommend this place! Thank you Rafael (and your father who is real funny character) for this memorable stay.

This is an amazing place and the staff go over and beyond.

What a beautiful place! A bit difficult to get to (definitely need a rental car!) & you will lose cell signal with Verizon (not available in PR), but worth the trip. The hotel is open air, so expect to have a lizard crawling around the floor once in a while & the rainforest noises to be loud. Breakfast is meager (cereal & a couple breads), but the coffee was the best we had during our entire trip! Rafael can cook delicious meals, so definitely don't miss dinner! $13 extra per person (no drinks included). Sooooo good! it's quite remote, so make sure to finish any last minute shopping before you head up the mountain.

Staying at El Hotelito El Yunque Rainforest was a wonderful experience. This is a fabulous place, and the host, Rafael is one of the most helpful and nice hosts we've ever come across. The place has a relaxing and calming feel specially because of the style of the home. The rooms were very well kept and clean. The view of the island and the ocean is incredible. I will definitely recommend my friends to come and stay here when they visit Fajardo / Puerto Rico

This is a little off the beaten path, so make sure you're prepared to drive a quarter mile up an unpaved road. That being said, the place and location is amazing. You can walk straight into trails or enjoy an overlooking view of the mountains and city from your room. We spent our mornings drinking coffee and hanging out with the German Shepherds who guard the property (as big dog lovers this was definitely an added bonus). If you plan on hiking, visiting the rain forest, or just spending time with nature, this is the place to book.

Perfect place to relax. The hotel is located in a mountain away from the city noise in Fajardo, PR. You get the chance to see the night sky, connect with nature and a view of the ocean like no other place. Is a very clean place, beds are comfy and Rafael the host is very responsive, at night he cooks a delicious meal, and in the morning they have a continental breakfast. I really recommend this place for couples who want to break away from the routine.

I felt most welcome chez True and Skai. They were very helpful in guiding me locally. I just wish I had longer to stay and explore the charming town. Their very close to the beach and it is IMO better than the 'poster perfect' one that everyone heads for. I would recommend this as a place to stay.

Skai was incredibly welcoming. She had perfect recommendations for where to eat at the kioscos and which trails to try in El Yunque. I got one of her vegetarian lunches (falafel wrap & kombucha), and it was delicious -- just what I needed. The bedroom and bathroom were also very clean. Great place to stay if you're hanging out in Luquillo.

We stayed there for three nights, it was a good location for us as we wanted to do various things like kayak, snorkeling etc..Luquillo is close to Fajardo and also convenient if you want to go to other islands. Travelling from San Juan is time consuming. Skai is very nice and friendly, she has knowledge of lot of local stuff like restaurants, places etc. Only thing we would suggest is if the staying arrangement could little more professional way. Our room was stuffy and wanted more cleaner sheets etc.. sitting area too had people staying.. Apart from these it was nice.

Skai and her husband were welcoming, flexible on timing, and had fantastic suggestions for thing to do and ways to make our trip easier. The room was a little loud with rooster and city noises so make sure to bring your ear plugs!

We chose Skai's place because it is close to El Yunque and the ferry terminal in Fajardo. It took us some time to find the place, but a neighbor helped us. Skai and True were very friendly and Skai helped us with ferry and BioBay tips and borrowed us her cell phone to arrange some things. Thanks! Make sure to bring your earplugs as the roosters and the neighborhood were really loud that night.

Skai and True were very kind! The apartment is very spacious and the sounds of nature are amazing. (Okay, there were a couple roosters that crowed at 4:00 am, but we fell back asleep just fine) It is a very relaxing environment, away from the busy city life, but close enough for things to be convenient. It was nice to have a safe place to park our rental car (we didn't have to park on the street or worry about safety). Even though there is no A/C we found the fans worked well to keep us cool.

Skai was a very welcoming host. We made the reservation very last minute (the day of our arrival), and she was quick to respond. Her home is clean and comfortable, with lots of other travelers around to chat with. The abundance of other guests takes away a feeling of privact, but the house is just as pictured, and is just a 2 minute walk to a lovely beach. My brother and I had a great stay at Raphael's El Hotelito near the El Yunque forest. Raphael was extremely accommodating, making us dinner after a long day hiking and making sure we arrived and departed safely. With really unique architecture including an open air living room/dining room/common area, private bed rooms with individual patios that look right out on the ocean and mountain range and the feeling of being away from hustle and bustle, El Hotelito was a great place to stay for the night.

This was my second stay at El Hotelito and I still absolutely love this place. Rafael Sr and Jr are both great hosts and make it a very fun environment in general. El Hotelito is definitely one of the most unique and beautiful hotels you will ever stay in. It was my girlfriends first time there and from the drive up, to walking up the steps the first time I could see the same spark I felt the first and second time. This place is undeniably incredible. The views of the ocean and surrounding rain forrest are stunning. The entire ambiance is special in every way. We love this place and will stay here every time we go back to Puerto Rico. If you have the opportunity to have Rafael Sr cook for you, do it. The dinner he prepared for us the first night was one of the best we had on the whole trip. It is not only delicious, but affordable. Drinks and home cooked dinner for two for $35? You cannot get any better for the quality. We had a Puerto Rican Chicken Fricassee, a sweet side dish, and rice.. we loved it so much we had several portions. Where can you go out to eat, have delicious food, and a few portions for that price and in that setting? No where. Also Rafael Jr was awesome enough to pick us up dinner on his way back to the hotel when we had mentioned dinner the following night - and that was delicious as well! These guys definitely know how to run a BNB. They are hospitable, entertaining, and wonderful hosts. As a dog lovers we were thrilled to find six four legged companions who were happy to greet us. We can't say enough good things about our stay here. If Puerto Rico is an experience, then El Hotelito is the epitome of that. Thank you guys for a wonderful stay. We will be back!

This place is perfect if you are looking for a nice, quiet, calm and relaxing getaway, so it was perfect for us. The place have everything you need and the owners do a great job keeping it environmental friendly. Its a great balance. thank you for having us.

El Hotelito is beautiful! The rooms are spacious and airy, the views are incredible, and the common areas are well-decorated and comfortable. We also enjoyed the trails on the property, which are lined by tropical flowers. It was amazing to wake up in the morning and look out on the ocean and the forest. A lot of reviewers have commented on the drive up to the property. I am very paranoid about damaging rental cars, and we had just about the smallest car possible (a Kia Rio hatchback). It is a steep drive and the last section of the road is mostly dirt, but I just put the car in first gear and drove slowly. It was really no problem at all: we drove up and down the hill every day and found no cause for concern. Also, the route is well-labeled and finding the place was easy.

El Hotelito is truly the most beautiful place I've ever stayed! The room was as shown but the warmth and charm of the openness and the feeling of being in an "outdoor" room in the middle of a rainforest. While sleeping, the sounds of rain and the coqui are all around and fireflies were even lighting up the room. It was lovely! The rest of the property was equally beautiful and the dogs on the property were delightful! They were very friendly and we really enjoyed them. Both Rafael Sr. and Jr. were wonderful hosts. They were very friendly and helpful. They both gave us suggestions and they both cooked amazing dinners! The best meals we ate were during our stay here at El Hotelito! Cocktails made before dinner were also delicious! Breakfast in the morning was also very nice. Getting up there was on a narrow mountain road--it is in the rainforest. I had a small rental car and made it fine but I would recommend making the drive during daylight unless you have all-wheel drive. I definitely plan on returning to El Hotelito and recommend it highly!

Rafael is always very welcoming! We make El Hotelito a destination on each PR trip because we like it so much. Very calming, friendly dogs following you around, and peace you can't find at resorts. The dogs barked a few times and night but nothing different that a city hotel. Amazing place and we will be back again next time in PR!

It's a little tricky to get up to El Hotelito but trust me, it's worth the trouble. This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I've ever stayed! My boyfriend and I changed our trip itinerary around just so we could enjoy it longer :) Rafael was super kind and accommodating - he even made a special meal for us since we're vegetarians. There are six dogs running around which for us as dog people was great but definitely be advised that they bark a lot at night.

This is an incredibly beautiful place! The directions were good, and it was totally worth the drive. The first day there was a torrential downpour and some coqui frogs went in our room, which really felt like a special treat because they are normally so hard to spot. I loved going to sleep to the sounds of the rain forest, and we also had fun hiking the five miles of trails on the site. Remember it is Eco friendly, so the water pressure in the shower isn't very strong and the rooms are kind of dark after sundown- which again is totally worth it! On first impression the host was more blunt than what I am accustomed to in the hospitality industry, but as our two day stay progressed we enjoyed chatting with him. He has obviously invested a lot of TLC into the place and cares about quality. He also made us a satisfying dinner, including some delicious sweet plantains.

John is very responsive and helpful. The apartment is very nice ans cozy. Its bit off of the main roads overall very good.

Our host Robyn was very prompt in responding to messages. The listing was accurate. The house was very clean with a nice open concept in the living room. The house was much larger than expected. Kitchen is very spacious. The rooms were also comfortable. Nice neighborhood. Excellent location to visit Luquillo Beach or El Yunque and very easy access to the highway for short trip to Fajardo for a BioBay Tour. I would definitely recommend the house and the host!

This house was okay, but definitely needs some TLC. It is conveniently located a short drive from Luquillo beach & kiosks and the complex has a small pool and tiny playground. Host Robyn was very responsive which was extremely helpful. The porch /patio was great as well. The master bedroom A/C broke when we were there; Robyn and the realty company were responsive on getting it fixed but it was difficult to coordinate with the repair guy since our phones didn't get reception and it was somewhat annoying to be home to let in the repair guys on our vacation. The couch desperately needs to be replaced - it was leather at one point, but it keeps shedding every time you sit on it and you have to sweep up a pile of leather crumbs every time you sit on it. They just threw an uncomfortable cover over the top, so this isn't very cozy for relaxing after a long day in El Yunque or at the beach. The showers don't really have hot water. The bedrooms have really sad uncomfortable bedding (uncomfortable bottom sheet and comforter, no top sheets). We had a great vacation, these things were somewhat disappointing but not enough to have a significant negative impact on our trip.

It is located in a good sector of Luquillo, near San Juan Airport, Carolina, beaches, restaurants, and tourist sites ... it is wonderful .... The service is the best .... We will be back.... We were a group of 8 and our stay at the house was wonderful. We were able to cook breakfast every morning and sleep in comfortable beds. Some of the activities we did were very near by and old San Juan was about 50 mins away . I recommend this house to any big group !

Ada's studio was perfect for our 2 night stay (it could have been even longer!) I loved all the extra touches with beach towels and beach chairs. Very secure location just off of State Route 3 with easy access (you must have a car) to El Yunique. Ada provided a very comfortable room with beach equipment and visitor information in the room.

I really enjoyed Ada and her studio. Our trip was amazing and the location of the studio was excellent to make trips to all different parts of Puerto Rico. Ada was a great host and we would go back in a heartbeat!

Hi Ada is so cool and the room is neat and tidy. Ada has been the best host during our stay in P.R. And has helped us with everything we needed. The room has a good giant bed and coffee machine and a fridge. This is the place too stay in P.R. Mia and Lars
