House of Schist in the center of Portugal

Three schist houses being restored at the village of Cunqueiros, in the municipality of Proença-a-Nova, form the Casas da Encosta project. Here it’s possible to relive the life history and culture of the region’s people in the comfort of a typical Portuguese village. According to the owner, Nuno Caldeira, the houses are being restored following the local construction tradition where schist, clay and wood are featured. One of them, Casa da Lagariça, has already opened.

Cozy house, rustic design, with 3 outdoor terraces and a mini pool. Excellent views over the village and the Lousã mountains. The house has 3 floors: the ground floor consists of a kitchenette equipped for the preparation of meals and a salamander; on the first floor a living room with sofa, armchair, electric salamander, TV and bathroom; the second floor with two bedrooms: a double bedroom and a bedroom with two single beds. Excellent sun exposure.
