This comfortable, updated stone-built cottage is the ideal base for an adventurous break in the Snowdonia National Park. At the base of the Nant Peris Valley, one of the most dramatic in Britain, it is perfectly located for climbing Snowdon. The accommodation is great for one or two couples, or a small family. In our tiny village of Nant Peris we have a great local pub with ales, good food and an inglenook fire a stroll from your front door. Castles, beaches and adventures- Snowdonia has it all.
The ground floor is open plan. The lounge/diner area has a satellite TV and WIFI, although it's not the fastest! The area is centrally heated in cold weather and there is a log effect heater for any chilly evenings. Off the lounge/diner is the secondary sleeping area, with purpose built settee converting to a 6'6'' long double bed. The kitchen has an electric range style cooker with grill and fan ovens along with a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine etc. Upstairs is the bedroom with standard double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers etc. The bathroom is en-suite and has bath with shower over, basin/vanity mirror and toilet.
Nant Peris is a small village with a long history. It is much older than the nearby, larger village of Llanberis. We have no shop but we do have our Pub and 14th century church. For shopping,Restaurants etc a short drive or 25 minute walk gets you to Llanberis, which is also a centre for outward bound pursuits including climbing, canoeing, wild swimming, paddle boarding, triathlons and the list goes on... The Royal Town of Caernarfon with its World Heritage 13th century castle, Roman fort etc is easily accessible by bus or car and offers supermarkets and a larger range of shops, restaurants and so on. While here why not visit the REAL castle of Merlin the Magician, or a unique coastal hilltop stone age village-no entry fees !
  • Lovely place to stay in a fantastic location. Would stay again!

  • Tom’s hospitality, warm welcome and attentiveness was a great addition to our amazing time staying in Nant Peris for our Snowdon climb. Highly recommend this accommodation with an added bonus of a good old traditional boozer next door having great pub grub.

    Steven2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, well kept. Tom is very knowledgable about the local area and is a superb host.

    Will2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very modern and much more spacious than we expected very quite location but that’s what we wanted very neutral to explore the natural Beaty of Snowdonia thanks Tom for being a great host

    Pamela2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We’d like to thank Tom so much for his hospitality during our stay in the cottage. We had a lovely time despite the weather being pretty awful, but it was a lovely break away. The cottage was pretty much what we had expected from reading the reviews and Tom couldn’t have been a better host. We really appreciated his quick responses to our messages and he was even kind enough to give us a lift into the village one evening to save on taxi fares. We weren’t able to get up Snowdon this time due to the weather but it is perfectly situated for it and we may be back in the summer! ☺️ There is WiFi however this can be a bit temperamental and slow, and with there being no signal, it’s perfect for anyone wanting to shut off the real world for a few days - although we did get signal just a few minutes drive away. There is a lovely little pub next door which do nice food and has a nice open fire! Overall we enjoyed our quiet break away and the cottage is nice and cosy. Would definitely recommend!

    Laura2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding hospitality and fabulous location. Tom lives right next door and is a wonderful host; there if you need him with speedy responses, but otherwise leaves you to it. Cottage is clean and homely with plenty of amenities. It's right next to a public footpath which trails being the property into beautiful views. Big supermarkets are about 20mins drive away, but there's a Spar in Llanberis which is 5 mins drive away. Thanks again Tom for a lovely stay!

    Eleanor2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ideally located place for climbing Snowdon and other walks around the area also easily accessed. The place itself has everything you could need and Tom personally showed where everything was and was around if we had any issues. A great place to stay!

Beddgelert 2.5 miles from the cottage, closest pub in Rhyd Ddu 1 mile. Great cycling paths in Beddgelert Forest across the road from the farm.
  • Rosie’s cottage is beautiful, we had the most amazing weekend break. The cottage itself has everything you would ever need, and special note to the beautiful bedroom with views over the mountains and waterfalls. The location is incredible, you can walk up Snowdon from the house and in the opposite direction is Bedgellert Forest and beautiful lakes to walk around. Rosie was a fabulous host, as other people have mentioned the lemon drizzle cake was amazing! Rosie kindly let us stay longer in the cottage as there wasn’t a booking that day, which was so appreciated and made my husband’s birthday even more special. I can’t recommend this place highly enough, it’s a beautiful cottage in an incredible location and a wonderful host, thank you Rosie!

    Jen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little place. Sparkling clean and has everything you need. The hot tub is just amazing too. I can’t recommend this enough. Rosie was great in terms of communication and everything was just simple and easy! Also, the lemon drizzle was tremendous!

  • Brilliant place to stay, hot tub is amazing to relaxing after a long day exploring.

    Lee2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, quiet, beautiful views all around, right on Rhyd Ddu path for walk up Snowdon. The house is really homely, spotless and modern but with the style of a cute cottage - really warm too even when freezing outside! Fabulous hot tub and very comfy bed. Rosie best host we've had, even made us a cake! She was very helpful and welcoming and let us know great places to visit x

    Molly-Jayne2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rosie’s cottage is PERFECT. She was great at communicating with any questions I had and she gave us the absolute best welcome when we arrived. :) The cottage was so clean and cozy! Not to mention the hot tub was nice and warmed up upon our arrival too! Step outside of your front door and you have two trails that lead straight up to the top of Mt Snowdon! Rosie will answer any questions you have if you are planning on doing any walking/hiking. I could go on and on about how great this place was, so do yourself a favor and book this place if you’re trying to stay a few nights in Snowdonia!

  • The pods are super cute and we were very cozy with the down duvets! A very nice experience overall. The owner gave us some great tips for walking and leant us a map. The price is maybe a little steep but the novelty of staying in a wee wooden hut explains that. One other thing! The showers are amazing. Very powerful and hot. Great stuff. Has everything you need for a short stay.

    Antonia2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay at the camping pods! Really quick communication before arrival and we were able to check in earlier than 12pm which was so helpful. In a great location for Snowdon, easily connected to other Snowdon routes and nearby villages by bus. Kitchen and bathroom facilities were always clean. Would definitely recommend for a trip to be in the heart of Snowdonia.

    Shannon2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The little pods are a welcome warm, dry and cosy space to rest your head after adventurous day. The shower rooms are warm and clean with airers to dry and damp clothing. A beautiful cottage in the Llanberis Pass, occupying a stunning spot on Snowdon itself. Bordered by a stream and river; access is across a private wooden bridge. Incredible views and straight up onto the mountain for walkers and climbers. *1 dog permitted only by prior agreement - due to livestock etc - and a £20 pet fee, to be paid on arrival.
Delightful mountain cottage in the heart of the Welsh 3000s, with direct routes up to the peak of Snowdon, Crib Goch, the Glyders and Tryfan. Wake up each day to enjoy the fascinating and ever changing landscape, enjoying that first coffee/tea overlooking a mountain stream. We keep free range rescue chickens, so there is a steady supply of eggs for you to purchase at low cost if you want fresh eggs for breakfast.
Your local pub is the Vaynol Arms in Nant Peris and serves real ale; a dog-friendly climbers/walkers pub. It's around 15 minutes walk away and the lanes can be pitch black at night, so bring a torch :) A short drive further up the Llanberis Pass is the Pen y Gwryd hotel, where Hillary and Tenzing trained for the first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953. They signed the ceiling, so don't forget to look out for that! The bar is famous for its photos of mountaineers who have trained on Snowdon for Everest.
  • This was our second stay at the cottage, and we loved it just as much as the first. Beautiful location, very clean and comfortable and a great host. Highly recommend.

    James2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved Ty Maen and the breathtaking scenery. Finding ourselves sandwiched between storm Ciara and Dennis certainly made it a wild week. The cottage was a welcome and comfortable retreat to both shelter from and observe the dramatic weather conditions and would be a lovely place to return to after a day in the mountains. Lisa and Chris were fantastic hosts and worked incredibly hard to help us ferry our belongings to the cottage when we arrived. They also make awesome welsh cakes.

Celyn is situated in the magical valley of Nant Gwynant, right in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. It's incredibly fortunate to be one of the very few cottages in Snowdonia that is only a 10 minute walk from the Watkin Path, a spectacular route up Snowdon. From the cottage itself you are afforded the most awe-inspiring views of the Snowdon Range. The cottage has been recently refurbished & sleeps 4 people in 2 double rooms. It has everything you need to have an enjoyable holiday.
Sleeps four, two bedrooms, both with kingsize beds & all linen provided. One bathroom with WC, bidet, sink & bath with shower over the top. Towels provided. Fully equipped kitchen/diner with cooker, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge / small freezer. Cosy lounge with log burner (initial fuel provided) , 4 seater sofa, smart TV with DVD player Washing machine, tumble dryer & drying room for wet gear. WiFi is availble, although sometimes slow, it works well in communal areas. Celyn has a large garden with spectacular views. Outdoor seating & bbq/firepit provided. There is ample parking. The drive is steep but there are options to park at the bottom. We will contact you on the day of your booking to let you know check in details.
THE VALLEY - Nant Gwynant Directly from the bottom of the drive you can walk along the Glaslyn river, which has its source from the top lake of Snowdon and flows out into the Irish Sea at Porthmadog. A ten minute walk down river will take you to the start of the Watkin Path - a spectacular route up Snowdon, taking you through ancient oak woodland, besides waterfalls and blue pools, ruins of old mines, and finally up to the summit of Snowdon itself. Caffi Gwynant is also on your doorstep, serving delicious local food. Two lakes are also within easy reach. There is Llyn Dinas - a beautiful lake around which skirts a well-marked path to the picturesque and historic village of Beddgelert. And, in the opposite direction, is Llyn Gwynant. From here, depending on the season, you can hire canoes, paddles boards etc., and eat stone-baked pizzas by the lake, giving you time to appreciate the awe-inspiring views. CLOSEST VILLIAGE - Beddgelert This picturesque, Welsh village lies just 3.8 miles from Celyn (7 min drive). It is a MUST SEE, and worth spending ample time to soak up the historic atmosphere and its gorgeous surroundings. There is a good selection pubs, cafes, gift shops, a local shop, post office, church, and a fantastic ice-cream parlour! The world famous Welsh highland railway passes directly through Beddgelert, taking you on a memorable journey through some unforgettable locations. Beginning in Beddgelert, there is wide variety of walks that will take you through forests, up mountains, along the Glasyn river as its cuts and plunges its way through the mighty Aberglaslyn gorge, and walks that will take you back to Celyn. CLOSEST TOWN - Porthmadog Porthmadog is a small Welsh coastal town. It lies 11.4 miles from Celyn (23min drive). It has major supermarkets and all you would need from a town. It developed in the 19th century as a port exporting slate to England and elsewhere, but since the decline of the industry it has become a shopping centre and tourist destination. Porthmadog is the terminus of the Ffestiniog Railway. Within walking distance are the pretty seaside villages of Borth-y-guest & Morfa Bychan. The welsh coastal path passes through Porthmadog, taking walkers along the banks of the Glaslyn Estuary, providing views of mountain peaks and shimmering bays. If you are lucky you might also spot Ospreys hunting over the waters during the summer season before they migrate to Africa in the early autumn. Porthmerion is also nearby, a famous, and otherworldly Italianate-styled town situated on the banks of the Dwyrd estuary. SNOWDON - Routes up WATKIN PATH is a 10 minute walk from the cottage. It is one of the quieter and tougher routes up Snowdon. MINERS & PYG TRACK starts at Pen Y pass carpark - 11min (4.7 mi). They are arguably the most popular routes up Snowdon. CRIB COCH is an iconic grade 1 scramble and not for the inexperinced! Start point is Pen Y Pass car park. LLANBERIS PATH - 23min (10.3 mi) this is the easiest route up Snowdon. The Snowdon railway also leaves from Llanberis. SNOWDON RANGER, RHYD DHU & SOUTH RIDGE are other less popular routes to the summit and are all within 10 miles away from Celyn. If you want to hike mountains less travelled then see below... MOUNTAINS - Distances from Celyn There are many mountains to walk in Snowdonia,. Clean spacious rooms, huge bathroom, bath tub and shower. The wood fire was a lovely addition, as were the extra treats received upon arrival which really made our trip extra special. • We all loved our 7 night stay at Snowdon lodge. It is so peaceful, the only noise being the water in the brook tumbling down over the rocks. The cabin was well equipped and everywhere was clean. It's only 15min. to the car park to climb Snowdon and set in the middle of stunning sceanery. If you need a place to stay while touring North Wales, then Snowdon lodge is ideal. We would certainly stay there again.

    Anthony2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin, well equipped and very clean with some nice added touches e.g. local info, games and BBQ. It's situated next to a waterfall and stream, beautiful and perfect for relaxing and having meals. Location is great for tackling Snowdon with some good tips from Ed, ideal as a base for visiting other areas of Snowdonia / North Wales as well. Directions from Elaine and Ed were useful for arrival. • A wonderful and well equipped cabin in a beautiful location! We went to celebrate both of our birthdays and to walk up Snowdon which we did via the Llanberis path. The cabin is the perfect base for exploring Snowdonia and just a short drive from the beautiful village of Beddgelert which has a few shops and nice pubs. The river running along side the cabin is so relaxing and picturesque, it was lovely just to sit and watch it in the mornings and evenings. Thank you to Ed and Elaine for being great hosts, we didn't want to leave!

Was a bit chilly at first as there is no log burner but after a while the electric heaters made it comfortable. Excellent Facilities for. A cabin and lots of privacy even though you are situated close to others. Would highly reccomend and happily stay here again

  • Fantastic little lodge, hidden away from the road and right by the river, small and cosy but contains everything you need (and includes things like tea, coffee and milk so you can have a quick cuppa as soon as you arrive), directions were perfect too, wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

  • Elaine and Ed offer you a little paradies to find your soul in the amazing nature of Snowdonia. I really enjoyed the lodge and the communications in the morning and also Guiness daily visitations

  • Little cosy paradise. My self and my partner visited for a few days of tranquility after an operation. We were not disapoimted at all as it was simply beautiful. We took our labrador (fin) with us and thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay. Fin was able to swim in the river and we found the garden very dog friendly and secure. The lodge had everything we needed and the local town had a few places on interest, a real secluded spot but in good reach of some great restaurants and interesting walks..... inwould happily recommend this and will be back myself in the summer.

    David2019-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Well-kept, cosy, friendly host and above all an amazing location. We were just a short drive from a Tesco superstore, Portmeirion and local trails. River is louder than you might expect but I’m a light sleeper and was used to it after the first night. Despite the unpredictable weather, we had a perfect stay and would highly recommend it for couples who need a ‘glam ping’ getaway from the busy city life :)

    Ariana2019-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the lodge over the New Year, perfect way to end the year, location is great if you like peace and privacy, but also lots of truly beautiful walks at your doorsteps. Sally responded immediately whenever we had any questions or concerns, and was kind enough to let us in a bit ahead of the check-in time (saved us from the rain!). We hope to visit again soon.

  • Sally’s place was a gem. It’s cosy, clean and well kitted out. It is worth taking a walk up to the top of the garden- the views are lovely. We took our dog with us and he loved sniffing around in the garden. Sally left us some tea cakes and wine which were lovely- and treats for the dog! It’s the perfect place to relax in peace and quiet by the fireplace! (as the weather was very chilly while we were there). We will be back!

Near to the local bus stop, close to the vanyol Arms, good parking and easy to get the key. As it is bunkhouse you are close together, but that is obvious from the photos. Once a climbers' hut, then a cottage belonging to Ian & Loreto McNaught-Davis, Cwm Y Wrach is now our retreat in the Snowdonia National Park. We love it....and we rent it out when we're not there, to encourage people to enjoy the area. A cosy kitchen/dining room, new electric hob and oven, sitting room and two ground floor solid fuel fires. Slate floors. Electric shower and bath in ground floor bathroom/loo, upstairs loo and basin. Three storage heaters, and fan heaters. One main bedroom (double bed) and two rooms with twin beds. Electric blankets. Adjacent utility room with washing machine and tumble drier, our garden tools &c. Fuel is provided (solid fuel, wood, firelighters, kindling).
Snowdonia - need I say more....you can climb Snowdon, rockclimb (or ice, in winter) or walk over to the Ogwen Valley. All depends on your experience. The high ground immediately above the cottage is privately owned, but the walks above the cottage, for example from Gwastadnant, a short walk from Nant Peris, and up over the Glyders is magnificent and far less frequented than Snowdon. Anglesey, Menai Strait, Caernarfon, Lleyn Peninsula, Port Madog, Port Meirion and Harlech are in easy reach by car.
  • This is a really charming cottage in a beautiful location. It's well kitted out and a perfect base for enjoying Snowdonia.

  • Our second visit to Cwm Yr Wrach, this time with friends for New Year. Was such a lovely place to stay again—enjoyed needing to use both fires this time, and to spend a bit more time in the cottage itself on some extremely windy and wet days. But got a couple of good mountain days too. Magic.

    Jim2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Had the most amazing stay at this beautiful cottage.

    Angela2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cwm Y Wrach is a very special place. The cottage has everything you might need and is comfortable, warm and cosy, even in the mad weather conditions we experienced. If you like mountains and peace and quiet as much as we do, the location is quite remarkable. Those two things make it a very relaxing place to stay. A great place for recharging your batteries! It is very well placed for mountain activities and 'touristing' alike in beautiful Snowdonia.

    Sue2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie advises you for practical reasons to arrive at the cottage in daylight, but those who miss that mark due to train delays or traffic (as we did) will have the unforgettable experience of waking up in a totally different world from the one they left behind. There is a supernatural quality to the place. Did I just open my eyes to a vision from Tolkien ? Was I transported back in time to a scene created by Hardy, Swift or one of the Brontes ? The cottage is set in the middle of a glen with mountains on every side and ruined stone cottages and walls all around. White sheep are everywhere. No right angles here, no tidy suburban lawns, just natural beauty in its purest form. Inside, the cottage is comfortable and cozy, and if you are an indoor sort of person, you will be perfectly happy curled up by one of the fireplaces with your book or cooking away in a charming kitchen that has everything you need for creating a gourmet meal. The sheep will look in at you with their noses at the window to see what you are cooking (let's hope it's not lamb). You can look out the windows too at the beauty surrounding you, but it would be a shame to be in such a spectacular setting and not get out into it. Pen Y Pass is just a few minutes away by car, and from there you can head up Snowden by one of several paths or go the other way, behind the hostel, on less travelled routes around Glyder Fawr. (I hope I got that right). The other direction by car takes you in a few minutes by the twin lakes into Llanberis and all of the activities there. My daughter said it was the "coolest" place she'd ever been to. My boys took a million photos and videos and had fun talking to the sheep (as did I). The next time we cross the Atlantic we will definitely try to come back here. Who needs London ?

  • My wife and I and our three children (11, 8 and 6) loved this cottage! It was the perfect base for a long weekend in Lla nberis. Its location, it's views - stunning. It was very clean and extremely comfortable. We wish we could have stayed longer! Hopefully, we can stay again in the future!

    Mathew2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a great location to stay in. House was lovely and cosy with the fire on, just what we needed after our walk up Snowden. Definitely try to arrive in daylight as very tricky to find property in the dark

    Dawn2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • I almost want to refrain from writing the glowing review this place deserves to help keep it a secret! But I can't! If you are thinking of travelling to this part of the country then by default you should be seeking adventure - the landscapes surrounding the cottage are simply breathtaking, the cottage itself providing all you should need. Even the approach to the cottage hints at the sense of adventure, which the rooms within will tell you more about. It maybe sound silly to say but it is a magical place - with all the mod cons you could think of! :) Charming, cosy, and convenient - a perfect base that anyone would take delight in returning to after a day's exploring. Top work Charlie!! We shall return!

My place is in the Snowdonia mountains., great views. You’ll love my place because of the location. My place is good for couples, groups, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). If you like walking the mountains or easier more level walks this is the place to be. The house is 30 min drive from Surf Snowdonia, Zip world, Penrhyn Quarry, Zip World Bounce Below, Zip World Forest, The Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway. There are many Welsh Castles within a short drive.
The house is grade two listed. It was the Grange of the Abey of Aber Conwy. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 singles and3 doubles, on the first floor as well as a newly re fitted bathroom. Downstairs an utility room with tumble dryer, washing machine, iron and board, toilet and shower room with electric shower. A large lounge with a wide fireplace under a segmented stone arch. A large kitchen diner with Stanley range, that is for the central heating only, and a modern ceramic hob under an oak beam an electric fan oven, a 1000wat microwave and a fridge above freezer. The solid wood kitchen table has an old settle on one side and 5 chairs. Adjoining the kitchen is a lounge which was a new addition in 1976. In the lounge is the TV, DVD, stereo, three seater settee two seater settee chair, log burning stove and looking out on to the mountain and down to the lake a big picture window. Outside the lounge is a little courtyard with outside sitting space.
The nearest house is half a mile away.
  • This is a gorgeous house in a spectacular location. We would happily choose it again. It's warm, well stocked and has some really nice walks from the door and of course a short step away.

  • Second time I’ve been. Charming house with loads of room for adults and kids to have their own space, with big enough communal spaces for when we all want to be together. Beautiful location. Can’t fault it.

    Kristian2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time despite the expected winter weather. The house is clean, cozy (even though it’s very large) and warm. The location is outstanding. We loved being able to just walk out of the house and be on our way. It is very well equipped and didn’t feel anything way missing. We fully intents to return. Richard was really quick to reply and was on hand if we needed anything. I couldn’t recommend more. Thanks

    Jennifer2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, warm, sparkling clean and spacious home in an amazing location. Communications from Richard were really fast and helpful too. We would definitely like to stay again.

    Alex2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a long weekend and wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage is beautiful, all you need, fantastic location and Richard was a great host and responsive. There was plenty of space for 7 friends and we all loved it. There are some great walks and will defintilty be coming back at some point, hopefull very soon.

    Susan2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Another amazing stay at the cottage! We love it here! The views are amazing and the cottage is in an incredible location. We stayed for Christmas and it was just great! Richard responded quickly to any questions we had as always and even popped to see us. The cottage had everything we needed and more. Richard had put Christmas decorations up, Christmas bedsheets on some of the beds and a bottle of Prosecco- we did not expect this and it was very much appreciated. Thank you!!!

    Lucy2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely old farmhouse in a beautiful location. Richard is a kind and helpful host. Highly recommended.

    Tony2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning location and a very cosy cottage. It feels remote, but you can walk straight up to the mountain or pop to a cafe without taking the car. Richard was very kind and quick to help. It’s a very reasonable rate too.

Crashpad Lodge is a unique off-grid Mountain Lodge situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park making it a perfect base for your getaway in North Wales. Located on the wild slopes of Snowdon and a short walk to the start of the Llanberis Path to Snowdon's summit, you are close to the amenities of Llanberis yet very much in a mountain environment. The traditional farmhouse has been carefully restored to its former state and will sleep up to 16 guests in three bedrooms comfortably.
Looking after our environmental footprint is very important to us at Crashpad Lodges. Every year we help families, friends and groups to enjoy the beautiful surroundings that Snowdonia offers and to ensure that its stays beautiful for generations to come we have introduced measures to ensure we do our part. Being off-grid with no access to mains electricity would usually involve using a diesel generator to power remote accommodations which is not only a heavy air pollutant but loud, disturbing the local surroundings. Instead we have installed a state of the art off-grid system. This system powers the Lodge through solar panels on the roof, a wind turbine on our ground, even our water pump is powered by its own solar panel. We have a suite of batteries which holds the energy created to power the lodge. On the very rare occasion the batteries run low we do have a new small low impact generator which steps in temporarily when needed. This does mean that there will be a little bit of maintenance and up-keep on your stay but nothing that we feel would be too inconvenient. Crashpad Lodge is only fully accessible (to the door) by 4 x 4 vehicles. We have a permit to park up to 4 cars on nearby land which 1km from the Lodge. This is to keep the disturbance of the land to a minimum and to respect the surrounding farm land which is home to welsh hill sheep, ponies and Highland cows. The wildlife is very rich and varied with Buzzards, Kites, Songbirds, Wagtails and sometimes Eagles. To ensure we give back to our local community we employ only local tradesmen and staff members. The original name of the Lodge is Yr Helfa Fawr, a traditional welsh farm. We honour the history Helfa Fawr through all of our marketing channels and story telling with the aim of preserving its long life for the use of others for many years to come.
Llanberis is a village in Gwynedd, northwest Wales, on the southern bank of the lake Llyn Padarn and at the foot of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. It is a popular centre for outdoor activities in Snowdonia, including walking, mountaineering, climbing, mountain biking and pony trekking as well as water sports such as Scuba Diving. The international fell race known as the Snowdon Race (Welsh: Ras Yr Wyddfa) to the summit of Snowdon begins in the village. Llanberis takes its name from Saint Peris, an early Welsh saint. It is twinned with the Italian town of Morbegno in Lombardy.
  • The crash pad is simply stunning! If you like the great outdoors and want something a little different, away from the hustle and bustle of every day life...this is place is perfect! I’m actually not sure I want to write this review, as I don’t want others to know about this off the grid gem! The crash pad is in a stunning location, with all the basic amenities you need to have a cracking weekend with family and friends! We went to celebrate my 40th birthday, and the crash pad did not disappoint. Josh was a perfect host, nothing was too much trouble, and he helped my wife organise a couple of surprises! We walked up Snowdon direct from the the front door, jumped and bathed in the small river, and sat by the fire of an evening, with stunning sunsets! A truly idyllic place in the middle of amazing scenery... we’ll be back for sure!!!

    Justin2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay at this one of a kind location. Josh catered for all our needs and was extremely helpful with flexible checkin despite late arrival after hours, stocking up supplies for us and providing advise about local surroundings. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a truly unique experience.

    Erik2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely amazing time at Crashpad lodge. Very cool place in an unbeatable location. We hiked up Snowdon (avoiding the crowds thanks to Josh’s tips), swam in the river and just loved hanging out at the lodge. Josh was so helpful - by far the best Airbnb experience I’ve had.

    Jacqueline2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our reservation was cancelled due to the snow in March 2018. Josh & the team went out of their way to find us alternative accommodation & refunded the difference. Communication was great throughout.

    Rob2018-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful welcoming guys, accommodating and helpful at all hours ! Fantastic little get away, hidden away from it all it's the perfect trip for a large group who love the outdoors!

Very spacious, comfortably furnished traditional cottage in the mountain pass hamlet of Nant Gwynant, 3 ½ miles north of Beddgelert, in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. Just 2 ½ miles from Snowdon summit as the crow flies, the cottage enjoys dramatic views of Lliwedd and the Snowdon range.
Originally 3 separate miner's cottages from about 1860, Glyn Awel is well-equipped throughout and includes a large farmhouse style dining kitchen with wood burning stove a large comfortable lounge with inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove, TV, and media centre with a selection of DVDs. Ultrafast FTTP Wireless broadband, parking for up to 4 cars. The large rear garden is on several levels and is the perfect place to enjoy a barbecue with tremendous views (BBQ and garden furniture are provided); however, steep terraces mean that young children will need to be supervised outside. The rear yard has gates which when closed seals off the garden for dogs or children.
The Watkin path up Snowdon starts 1/4 mile away; and the Snowdon Sherpa bus network runs past the cottage making many round trips possible. Other attractions such as Porthmadog, Black Rock Sands Beach, Portmeirion, Llanberis, Criccieth Castle and Betws-y-Coed are all about 30 minutes scenic drive away by car. Licensed cafe 1/4 mile way, otherwise the nearby charming village of Beddgelert offers local shops and a range of pubs and restaurants and access to the Welsh Highland Railway. Clear skies and lack of light pollution make this a great place for night vistas, too. Plenty of walking at all levels straight from the cottage door.

This cottage lies in a village on the quiet side of the mountain,The path up Snowdon starts at our front door. There is a great village gastropub opposite,a Cafe up the road and a restored steam railway running nearby. Warm and cosy with central heating and a woodburning stove. Just the place for a summer break or a Christmas getaway .
This 150 year old miners cottage is simple and cosy with full central heating and a woodburning stove. Downstairs there is a sitting/dining room with exposed beams, off which is the bathroom/cloakroom with a new walk in shower. Next to that is a spacious kitchen where you can also eat, equipped with an electric cooker a fridge/freezer a second fridge and a washing machine. Also off the sitting room is a conservatory looking out to the summit of Snowdon and leading to a small garden. Upstairs there are three bedrooms one with a double bed leading off a twin bed room and a third with a double bed so the cottage could sleep 6 if you are all good friends or family. Wifi is free and there is a payphone as mobile coverage is patchy.
Snowdonia is the perfect place for a active or relaxing break. You can climb Snowdon from the door (approx. 6 hrs return) or you can drive round the mountain to Llanberis and take the train. There are many other great walks from the village. The area is fast becoming the adventure capital of Wales. There are beaches, castles, stately homes all within a short drive. The area is a mecca for steam railway enthusiasts. The Welsh Highland Railway comes through the village and joins up with the Ffestiniog at Porthmadog The pretty village of Beddgelert is 10 mins away or 5 miles via the new mountain bike/ wheelchair friendly path round the lake and through the forest. • Would greatly recommend staying at Chris's cottage if you are planning on hiking on and around Mt Snowdon - it's basically in the back garden! The place was comfortable and clean, and Chris was very helpful and cordial through messages.

  • 2 Glanfa is a brilliant cosy cottage and perfect for our group of 6 with some room sharing! Being so well located for outdoors activities (and the pub) it is brilliant for trips for those wanting a mountain based break and has everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped which was good for us self catering for a big group. Thanks Chris and Susan for a lovely time.

  • Fantastic location. Stayed with my two kids (7 and 9) and climbed Snowdon, Nantle Ridge from the doorstep. We also climbed Moel Hebog with amazing views. Great location and accommodation for hiking in Snowdonia, and handy to have a pub just across the road! Kitchen was well equipped with fridge and a good sized fridge and freezer. Cold when we arrived but soon heated up. We would like to return in the future.

Also limited kitchen with only toaster and microwave available to cook. Great location for exploring Snowdonia, we walked a short distance up the road to find the Watkin path for Snowdon.

This former chapel house stands in its own grounds in a village at the foot of Snowdon. It has a stunning modern sitting room looking out over the secluded garden and the summit of the mountain. Newly refurbished, all ready for 2020. Come and enjoy the mountains, castles, beaches, steam railways, the pub or just the peace and quiet of the National Park
This former chapel house stands in its own grounds looking out over Mt Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales, the path up Snowdon starts at our gate. It lies in a small village on the quiet side of the mountain. There is a gastropub nearby, a cafe up the street and a restored steam railway runs through the village. Ty Capel, Chapel House in Welsh was built in 1895 originally alongside the Chapel (now pulled down) for what was a thriving slate quarrying area. Its three foot thick stone walls were built to keep out the weather as it stands over 500ft above sea level. It was refurbished and extended in 2005 to a high standard. There is plenty of space both inside and out. Inside there are two sitting rooms one with a 42inch TV as well as a separate dining room with an antique welsh dresser ( aka 'The climbers rest' ),a kitchen with electric cooker, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. It is warm and cosy whatever time of the year you choose with full central heating in all rooms, two woodburning stoves and an Aga type cooker which heats the water, keeps the house warm and cooks. One shower room with basin ,two separate toilets and a bathroom means there is no queuing in the morning. You can lie in the bath and look at the top of Snowdon. There is also a utility room with sink, washing machine and a second fridge to keep those beers cool. A large flat screen TV with freeview and wifi and unlimited broadband will keep everyone happy. There is a lovely sheltered garden which is perfect for barbeques and a relaxing glass of wine whilst watching our many visiting birds( we have nest boxes for many types) and enjoying the stunning scenery
Situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park with stunning views of the mountains. Just the spot for an active or relaxing break. Snowdonia has become the centre for adrenalin junkies with zip wires, surf Snowdonia, mountain biking, triathlons and of course climbing all within easy reach of Ty Capel. The Snowdon marathon passes the door. Why not have a gathering of family or friends by adding our cottage next door (Miners cottage) max 15 persons. Whether it is mountains, beaches, castles, mountain biking, golf, pony trekking, fishing or just fresh air and peace and quiet,Snowdonia has it all. The path to the summit of Snowdon starts in the village (approx. 6 hrs return) but if you want to take the train to the top you will have to drive to the other side of the mountain.
  • Lovely place! However, there is only 1 set of keys in the key safe, however - a foolish member of our group left the keys in the house and we had a long and involved process to get back in the house. Entirely our fault and the hosts were happy to help us with the situation. Stunning views of Snowdon, and you can walk up the mountain from the house in around 2 and a half hours. Fab.

  • Chris was a very friendly host, helpful and easy to contact. We very much enjoyed the very comfortable accommodation with its excellent facilities not to mention the magnificent location! In the few days we had there we managed an ascent of Snowdon direct from the house and rides on both the Welsh Highland Railway (Rhyd-Ddu station is just 400m away) and on the Ffestiniog Railway from Porthmadog. Can't recommend Ty Capel too highly!.

  • This space offers epic views, peace and quiet plus the feel of home from home. It has a great pub across the road and access to some great walks, runs and rides.

    Emma2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, walks straight onto Snowdon and opposite lovely pub in tiny village. Close to beddgelert, a lovely village, and great views of Snowdon with a log burner. Highly recommended.

  • This house is simply in the most amazing venue the views are breath taking

    Donna2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The TY Capel is a fantastic place to book if you have a large group or family 6+ Perfect location at the foot of Snowdon Mountain , it makes your travel all around the best places in North Wales really easy especially if your driving around or have plans to go hiking up the mountain. Chris has kept the place really well- it’s well maintained , clean and he is very good at giving you instructions as soon as you book and very responsive I must say ! The Chapel has it all (except towels- he would clear tell you that the moment you book, which is fine!) Modern amenities in fusion with traditional as well like a fire-place, Stanley stove ( amazing experience) books , British boardgames etc. If you traveling North Wales and group of 6 or more , this is the place you need to stay in !

  • Great property in a fantastic location. Great living room space and overall spacious property. Pub, cafe and local walks including Snowdon on your doorstep.

    Dominic2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous stay at Ty Capel. The location is perfect for exploring the North West coast and mountains. Easy location in Rhyd-Ddu with the pub over the road highly recommended offering excellent evening meals. If you want a change, 5 mins down the road is the stunningly beautiful village of Beddgelert with a few more food options. The house is well equiped and spacious with the peak of Mt Snowden looking at you through the window so you can check the weather whenever you want (and it does change frequently). We didn't walk the peak from the house but 6 hours round trip should do the trick. But a much shorter walk of about 20mins gives you stunning views over the lake...an evening walk for the sunset is recommended. The host is offsite and communicates very effectively upon booking although we had no reason for further contact after our easy check-in. We were a party of 4 adults and 3 children and Ty Capel is highly recommended for all ages, groups and interests.

  • We’ve stayed in bedgelert a number of times before and have seen the pods each time! This time we decided to give the pods a try, they were as lovely as we thought they’d be! Super cosy, warm and clean with wonderful bathroom and washup rooms. One of our favourite spots in north wales! A perfect base for anyone wanting to tackle the mountain!

  • My daughter and I loved staying at this site. The camping pods are warm and cozy with all the basic essentials, and the facilities on site were fantastic. It was a little haven away from the rather damp autumn weather for us. It is perfectly located with easy access to Snowdon and the surrounding area.

    Rachel2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • The pod was clean and tidy and had all the things you might not think to bring such as a hot water bottle. The standard of the bathrooms was brilliant and all very clean.

  • We were so welcome, even with two dogs. Facilities extremely clean A++++

    Laura2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing. Really clean and in a great location. Closer to the road than I would like but not a big issue. Very close to walking paths. Common area was basic but sufficient. Only a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge (I thought it had a cooker). Running water outside common area. Bathrooms had great water, really warm, powrrful and clean.

  • Beautiful little group of pods. Claire was very welcoming. The shared bathroom facilities were great. Really spacious, clean and very close to the pods. Claire had put the heating on in our pod before we arrived which was lovely. It kept very warm throughout the night also.

  • Absolutely loved our night away. Great location, extremely close to a challenging route up Snowdon. Really pretty camping site. Clean and includes everything the advertisement says. Will return in the future!

  • I thought the pods were a brilliant, quirky idea. They were clean, warm and comfortable. The wash rooms were spacious, clean and plenty of hot water. Plus there was other amenities too.

    Karl2018-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little pod in a stunning location right next to Snowdon. It was very peaceful and we had a great night's sleep. There was a helpful microwave and kettle to make snacks and heat up pre-made food. Excellent glamping option!

    Greta2018-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • The place was really nice and quiet. Very clean. If you go to Snowdonia, is a very nice place to stay!

    Raquel2018-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Set in a beautiful area, these camping pods are compact but really good. If there are two of you with lots of gear in wet weather you may struggle a bit for drying space / storage, but there are laundry fascilities, etc which would help. Space is very efficiently used with storage under the beds. I would return without hesitation.

Beautiful bijou bedroom in a converted attic room in a traditional Welsh cottage. Located between two lakes, in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia), within easy walking distance of the Watkin path up Snowdon. Plenty of room for active adventurers!
Bryn Aber is located on the edge of a woodland, with an award winning wildlife garden in a small hamlet three miles from all amenities in Beddgelert. Contemporary room with fresh shabby chic decor, and airy velux windows looking across to mature woodland and mountain views. Exclusive use of recently fitted modern wetroom.
There is easy access to a range of mountains, including Snowdon via the Watkin path or south ridge. Many delightful valley walks are available to explore directly from our door. Access to the lakes (Llyn Gwynant and Llyn Dinas) and the river Afon Glaslyn is easy by either foot, canoe or kayak. Nantgwynant also hosts a delightful community cafe (Caffi Gwynant) open all week 9.00 to 5.00 pm (except Mondays and Tuesdays).
  • I had an amazing time at Debs and Liams beautiful house. They're exceptional hosts. I'd highly recommend. I had a solid breakfast every morning... yogurt, berries, bread, jam, eggs and tea of course. I love walking and they gave great directions to less touristy footpaths. I also learned a lot about the history of the area and Wales in general. Debs and Liam made me feel at home right from the start. My vacation wouldn't have been the same without their advice and company! Definitely coming back.

    Filip2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We are regular Airbnb travellers and would rate Liam and Debs welsh cottage in Snowdonia as one of the cosiest and homely of all the places we have stayed. The room is spotless. It has everything we needed to feel at home. Liam and Debs were super helpful checking in on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed; we learned about their passion for trees, gardens, plants, birds, life in the valley and even how to make 'hipster porridge'. They were both inspirational, and a guide to a life lived well. We would highly recommend staying here and experiencing their lovely hospitality.

    Theba/Diego2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my partner we just came back from great mini break in Liam’s and Debs house. Liam and his wife were the best host we could wish for. Their house is nice and welcoming. They shared all their knowledge about the area with us and gave us plenty of the recommendations on where to eat and where to walk. They were happy to help us with whatever we needed and by the end of the day they’ve always found the time to have a chat with us, to see how our day turned out. In the morning there was always breakfast waiting for us which was served in their kitchen overlooking beautiful garden, which we’ve had while chatting to Liam and Debs about their adventures. It was the best AirBnB experience I have had so far. Thank you for everything.

    Katarzyna2019-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • One of our best and most authentic Airbnb experience. Liam and Deb are wonderful hosts, they know the area like the back of their hand and will be happy to give you all the informations and pieces of advice you need (hiking path, cafe, pubs..). The breakfast is incredible and get ready to laugh while eating because that is usually the time Liam & Deb share some funny memories of their own travelling experiences ! Needless to say that we would highly recommend the place.

    Elise2018-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Liam and Deb were the best hosts we could have asked for; incredible hospitality, generosity and tips and advice for the surrounding sights and areas. We had a lovely breakfast every morning and they made us feel very welcome, like a home from home. If you plan to stay in Snowdonia then this is the best place you could ask for the full experience of either Mount Snowdon or the lakes and so much more a stones throw from their beautiful home. We would love to stay again.

    Joe2018-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful time with Liam and only wish we could stay longer. The area is breathtakingly beautiful; We did the best trips and hikes and felt completely happy and satisfied with Liam. It's incredible how much we liked it and how much we loved it. We'll be back, sooner rather than later;)

  • Gorgeous cottage and location with the most fantastic hosts! Liam and Deb are a wonderful, friendly couple who made us feel totally at home and have great advice for making the most of the local area. The room is super cosy and the whole set-up is really convenient. Breakfast was lovely- set us up well for a good day of walking in the mountains! Cannot recommend staying here enough! Will definitely be staying here again in the future.

  • Amazing first experience using Airbnb. Great location to explore the local area and very close to the Watkin path up Snowdon. Very cozy bedroom with easy access to toilet and exit. with Liam and Debs were wonderful friendly hosts, very accommodating and helpful.
