Places to stay in South Heighton
The Shepherd's hut sits just on the edge of Firle, one of the South Downs most iconic villages. It is a very private space, in it's own little meadow, two minutes walk to the shop and three minutes to the famous Ram Inn with Lewes and Brighton nearby
the hut is in it's own paddock overlooking the south downs, close to the pub and the little village shop. From March to the end of September i will only take two night bookings during the week end, in the week one night bookings are fine. Over the Christmas and new year period i will only take two night bookings and over Easter and the for the Love Supreme Festival a three night booking as a couple.

  • Amazing place to get away, and Peter was really helpful at communicating everything I needed to know. Would definitely visit again

  • Lovely tranquil setting 😊

  • Find a stripped back, simple space with all that you really need. Wild winds from the Downs to rock you to sleep, rooks to waken you and primroses to greet you in the Spring mornings. (Plus a great pub 5 minutes walk away....)

  • It’s was a great 👍

  • This is a very sweet and tranquil place, with a warm welcome.

  • The hut is nestled in a lovely spot on the edge of the village, and was perfect for me as someone wanting to get away from it for a few days. As Larkin says, "only the young can be alone freely" and whether you agree with this or not, as someone who is not young, and has a fair number of responsibilities, to have a soulful bolt hole to skedaddle to is a great boon. When I took leave of the place and thanked Peter as I left, he said that the hut was becoming a sanctuary for some. For me, it was more of a haven - for me there is something very boat-like in its compact, unfussy, recycled elegance . I look forward to clambering on board again.

  • Peter’s hut is so beautiful and tranquil. Perfect break for me to get away from it all and recharge. Sublime views, watched the sunrise come over the hills while having a hot tea and listening to the birds. Unlike anywhere I’ve been before, would definitely recommend.

Top floor, light and spacious double room with fireplace in character Victorian house with garden. The room has a comfortable double bed, painted floor, large bay window and original Victorian furniture. I am close to trains, buses, ferry, beach and hill walks.
I am a yoga teacher and massage therapist so can offer you one to one yoga lessons or a relaxing massage in a lovely quiet warm space. I am also a great cook and will make you a delicious evening meal if you give me enough notice. The house has a garden and a really friendly cat. The house is quirky, old and a little inconvenient, interesting and shabby. I need to point out that the bathroom is in the basement and the bedroom is 2 flights of stairs up so it is not suitable for anyone disabled or infirm. I have had new windows fitted since writing the above so it is much quieter now but in the summer the seagulls can be noisy. So bring some earplugs if you are sensitive to noise.
Newhaven is on the outside just another industrial small town but has a great beach and cliffs, is only minutes away from the Ferry terminal to Dieppe. Brighton is 30 mins away by bus or train and the historic town of Lewes with it's castle and ancient windy streets is 10 mins by train. I am only minutes walk away from the beautiful downs and river walks.
  • Suzanne is very caring and welcoming. She has a lovely and comfortable home. The apartment is close to the port so if you arrive by ferry (like me) it’s perfect. You have everything close by. It was a perfect stay for me. Thank you again Suzanne

    Ju2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Suzanne was a lovely and warm host and her home is beautiful and peaceful. It's perfect if you just want some time out or want to explore Lewes /Brighton (very close on the train). When I arrived I had a warm bath with salts and essential oils, a nice cup of tea and read one of her many interesting books. She also provided breakfast/tea and coffee for me which was a thoughtful touch. Overall I would highly recommend- Suzanne really is a suoerhost!

    Asha 2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay in a cozy, warmly decorated room and house. Suzanne provided breakfast for us as well. A great spot for the Seven sisters walk. Thanks for having us!

    Lewis2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • After walking 22km, I was exhausted and famished. Suzanne ran a bath (with epson salt and scented trinkets), directed me to a delicious local fish platter and was perfectly pleasant throughout my stay.

  • Had an absolutely wonderful stay. My room was perfect and Suzanne couldn't have been a friendlier, kinder host.

Just a few minutes walk downhill from the South Downs Way ‘The Loft’ is the perfect place to retreat after a long day’s hike or cycle. With our local pub 300 meters up the road a pint and a hearty meal await. ‘The Loft’ is situated in a quintessentially English village where a 16th century thatched cottage can be seen across the garden and Virginia Woolf’s ‘Monks House’ is just down the road. You can't help but relax and unwind when you visit The Loft. It's the perfect get away.
The Loft is a light, modern first floor apartment with its own private entrance and parking space. The kitchen is well equipped with all you will need and tea and coffee making facilities will be waiting for you when you arrive. Free wi-fi is available too. We also offer an optional 'breakfast tray' and fresh eggs from our own chickens that you'll see when you visit. Please enquire about prices and products when booking.
Rodmell is a lovely quiet village. Whilst there are no streetlights or shops we do have a variety of interesting buildings and history abounds, from thatched cottages and the 12th century St Peters Church to The Monks House (former home of Virginia Woolf and now owned by the National Trust) and our local pub The Abergavenny Arms.
  • Lovey cosy and quiet stay, great for country walks! The Loft itself was clean and well furnished

  • Amazingly beautiful, clean and cosy place to stay. It only exist in my dream before. And It’s literally just behind the Monk’s house. I was planning to visit it yet it didn’t open during the winter time. However, The Loft just offered another amazing experience to me. A peaceful spring getaway.

Dream easily in a bespoke 4-poster bed, and there's a second pretty bedroom. Come morning, wake to a peaceful hideaway brimming with character, art, and beautiful objects in this historic village. Pick a good book to take to the flower-filled garden, and in the winter light the log burner. Plenty to discover in the village and surrounding area, enjoy some of the best walking in the country. All within a couple of hours of London. Close to the Seven Sisters Country Park and the glorious coast and beaches. All this, and we're nestled within the South Downs National Park. Heaven!
This bright and airy house is ideal for a relaxing break. The area has everything you need for a great walking or cycling holiday or just mooching about. You can just stroll around and enjoy all the lovely pubs and tea houses in the village. Alfriston has one of the best independent bookshops in the country - Much Ado Books. Badgers Tea House is just across the road - a wonderful place to relax (a 10% discount is offered to my guests). Well behaved dogs are welcome (not on the furniture or upstairs please) and they're welcomed in most places around the village. In the winter there is a log burner (initial basket of logs supplied). My house has many times been described as light and "cosy", and is filled with art and interesting things - this is where I live in between bookings so is very much a HOME and not a holiday let.
The house is in a beautiful medieval village nestling in the heart of the South Downs National Park. The South Downs Way is steps away, while rolling hills, Friston Forest, Cuckmere Haven, and the world-famous Seven Sisters cliffs are not far off. With a wealth of different terrains, you can enjoy every type of walk, from a stroll along the river to a challenging all day yomp!. Walk along the Seven Sisters Heritage Coast or over the Downs. Or just mooch around the village shops and tearooms.
  • When we arrived, the village was partially flooded and the main road into the village was impassable. The back road was totally clogged with people picking up their children from school and we had to drive for about 30 minutes to access Jilly’s place from the other side of town. For a while, we didn’t think we would actually be able to get to the house and when we finally parked, we were confronted with another flood that made us think we’d never get to our destination. In steps Jilly, walking her dog and randomly bumping into us in our moment of need! (We were walking in the wrong direction, despite her brilliant instructions!). Jilly showed us to the house and saw us in. She is super friendly and helpful as had even arranged flowers and fizz to be in the house because we were celebrating my wife’s birthday. The TV in the house is tiny and the shelves are packed with books. This says everything about the place in terms of how relaxing it is. We lit the log burner each night, put on music, read and chilled out. A tv free weekend that did us the world of good. On Saturday we wanted to plan a walk that avoided the flooding. Jilly stepped in again, after having messaged her, she popped by and gave us some great suggestions as to where we might go. We took her advice and had a brilliant walk on the Downs. I don’t want to make out that the house was without it’s comforts. It had everything we needed and more. The art was fun, the kitchen fully stocked - the dishwasher was perfect! We had breakfast in The Singing Kettle on Saturday and the village shop is amazing (proper quality local produce and amazing friendly service). The fact that the village was cut off by floods and water works meant it was super quiet and we found it to be completely calming the minute we arrived. Thank You Jilly.

    Mark2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, great host and Alfriston is lovely. Highly recommended!

    James2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful home. It felt like staying at a friends house. A relaxing place with such interesting decor. Jilly was a delight to communicate with and was very attentive. Couldn’t of asked for a better place to stay.

    Kirsty 2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jilly made us feel most welcome in her beautiful home situated in a lovely quaint village. I thoroughly recommend booking if you are looking for a quiet weekend away filled with walks, pubs and nearby wineries to explore.

    Jessica2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Jilly's home exceeded our (already high) expectations. We've scored her 5/5 on every aspect of our experience. Her house is stylish, cosy and perfectly placed for walks, pubs and a relaxing break away from the usual busy routine. Jilly went the extra mile to ensure we had a top-notch time! We're already planning a return visit...

    Justin2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jilly's communication and recommendations were perfect, adorable village and lovely house. Enjoyed ourselves hugely.

    Elle2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jillyan place is immaculate, cozy, full of stylish and quirky touches (love the palm tree in the bathroom) and super convenient in a pretty village with great local shops and good tea rooms. Jilly was super helpful and friendly, from extra wood for the log burner, to lots of useful info about the house and area, and her delightful home so well organized, wish I could have stayed longer.

    Emily2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Jilly's lovely house between xmas and new year. Prior arrangements were excellent and when we got there the house was spotlessly clean with a few nice touches left there to welcome us. Jilly was very helpful and couldn't have done more for us - especially in providing extra kindling for the fire at short notice! We had a great time there and would highly recommend both the house and the area around Alfriston for some lovely walks.

  • I loved the chalet, absolutely everything I could have wished for; clean, private, warm and comfortable with all the home from home amenities. Love your sense of humour too, especially re the tortoise outside! Beautifully decorated and I do believe you have thought of everything. Should the need arise, Garden Chalet will be the first I look for to book again and I will confidently recommend to family too. Thank you.

    Fiona2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jen was lovely when we met her on check in, for the rest of the weekend we were left to it - apart from a greeting from their friendly dog! The room is fitted out really nicely, everything worked and it was all really clean. Really easy bus ride into Brighton, or a lovely long walk along the seafront (storm Ciara put a stop to our plans for that though!)

We have a large Victorian terraced house, very close to bus stops, train station and 10 minute walk from the sea. This is an ideal base to explore the best places in Sussex. Brighton is only 15/20 minutes driving, Lewes in 10 minutes, Newhaven Fort in walking distance, Seven Sister 10 minutes, ferry to France - Dieppe.
The room is a very nice double bedroom, with a triple bunk bed (double bed down, single up). Breakfast included, you'll find milk, coffee (black or espresso), local homemade jam, cereals, biscuits. Towels and bed linen included. Wifi included.
Newhaven is a small town but has lots of great places: - the Hope Inn pub, traditional english pub with sea view in Newhaven Harbour - Bickerstaffs, the best fishmonger in Sussex. Fresh local fish every day, really good - Newhaven Fort - Museum, the largest defence work ever built in Sussex. - Luna Rossa Italian Restaurant, authentic italian restaurant in Newhaven Harbour - Piddinghoe Farm Shop, our favourite farm shop in the area - the Ark pub, modern pub with local beers and good food menu in Newhaven centre, next to the River pedestrian area.
  • My partner and I stayed at Matteo and Cecilia's place for one night to catch the ferry in the morning. They are very kind and I would definitely recommend staying at their place :)

  • Matteo and Cecilia are very lovely hosts! She and her cute dog Chapo make us feel welcome. The cats were mostly invisible. Our room was clean, like everything in the room House! There is Wi-Fi, but no TV in the room. Enough towels are available. You park in the street, with luck on your doorstep .... but uncomplicated! Matteo drives his car at Befarf where else! We recommend this accommodation!

  • Excellent address, high availability and responsiveness Mattéo. Direct proximity to the ferry, 5 minutes by bike. We were able to put our bikes in the garden, at the back of the house, safely. I booked the night the night before, and Matteo immediately responded and responded favorably.

Seaford is a sleepy town, nestled at the foot of the South Downs with beautiful scenic views. Great access to the stunning Cuckmere Valley, Seven Sisters National Park, Beachy Head and more! Close to sunny Brighton, Eastbourne, historic Lewes and Gyndebourne and just minutes to Newhaven Ferry Port. Many of our guests stay for the night, catch the early ferry to Dieppe or enjoy the day's coastal walk to Eastbourne where they can take the train back home.
The bright, well decorated, double room overlooks the garden with lovely views of the South downs, and if you are lucky, amazing sunsets! Guests have private use of the main bathroom during their stay (we have our own en suite) with shower, bath and towels provided. There is a comfortable double size bed. Wifi is available and Tea and coffee is offered in your room with your own kettle. Sorry, we are unable to offer breakfast but there are lots of places locally to grab something to eat. We kindly request that smokers do not smoke in the house or gardens, thank you.
There are many local pubs, restaurants and cafes in Seaford and if you can travel by car some great places to eat a little further afield. We have made a list of a few ideas and these are in your room for you. (If you find other good places to eat let us know and we can add them to the list!)
  • Excellent as ever !

  • Sparkling clean, luxury home. Beautiful views of gardens, the valley below, the sunrise and sunset and the stars. 2 beautiful cats and 2 lovely hosts. Comfy bed. Peaceful and tranquil. Bathroom is private but not en suite. Problems with internet connection. No breakfast facilities, so take something with you. However super tea and coffee making facilities. No TV in room which turned into a blessing. Outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended.

Newhaven is a working port that has traditionally hosted industry. In the past, Parker pens were made here, these days it is more known for being the centre for renewable energy and recycling. * We are offering a ‘self Isolation live and work space’ during these difficult times. We can do your shop and deliver to your door and bring deliveries without physical contact. Due to current health concerns we’re taking extra care to deep clean the flat on every turn over. We wash all bedding , towels and covers on a hot wash, in addition to this wipe down all surfaces and handles after a proper clean with a bleach solution. We also have cleaning products on hand should you wish to use them
Our flat is a brand new renovation in the centre of Lewes, originally the beer cellar for The Red White and Blue pub built in 1827 it is now a light and airy, modern well equipped space for a relaxing get away. You have your own front door and the space is completely self contained. The kitchen has an electric oven, dishwasher and washing machine and all the items you'd need if you wanted to cook up a feast. Should you want to eat out the flat is in the very centre of Lewes so all the pubs and restaurants Lewes has to offer are only ever a few minutes walk away.
Lewes is a busy town with lots going on, the town boasts a huge amount of independent shops and restaurants, The Needlemakers is a great place for shopping as is Cliffe High Street for antiquing.
  • Good sized basement apartment very well located for Lewes town centre. Clean, and with everything you need. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Thanks.

RELAUNCH !! £32/NIGHT YOUR OWN FLAT 20 MINS FROM BRIGHTON....Cosy studio flat located in the heart of Peacehaven, though very quiet at night... Pull down bed, sofa, tv , wi-fi all there to be used...chest of drawers for clothes all situated in the lounge.. Light , clean & colourful for sure ! Kitchen has cooker, fridge, microwave & washing machine facilities all available.... Bath, shower, sink & toilet in separate part of the flat where clothes rail situated... Double glazed throughout...
It’s a large/medium studio with separate bathroom and kitchen. The pulldown bed is a double and can be left down or pulled up for extra space..Dead easy to operate as is everything in the flat.
The flat is literally a stones throw from the Meridian Centre...This is where the bus terminus is and the Coop superstore resides. It opens from 7-10 so if you need to pop over for anything it’s a 1 minute walk... 10 minutes walk away are the cliff tops of Sussex. There are pathways down to the beach and sea. Brighton is 20 minutes away on the bus or car. It really needs no introduction, however for sports fans like me, I can tell you the Amex at Falmer is the same distance by car though getting the train from nearby Newhaven a good tip. Eastbourne is to the West about 12 miles away. Eastbourne Eagles Speedway at Arlington a great way to spend an evening. All of the area is pretty much on the South Downs Way so there are hundreds of country walks to be had.

  • Simon was really welcoming and easy going about everything. The location was easy to get to Brighton from and very good value for money.

    Sasha2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very easy time staying at Simon’s place. The location was perfect for us. There were days when we just wanted to take it easy and Peacehaven is a lovely place to stroll around, stop at a cafe, and explore the Telscombe cliffs along the beach. We also had several days out to Brighton, Lewes, and Hastings, and buses were very accessible from Simon’s flat. His place has plenty of character which we also enjoyed - we were even inspired to make an evening of kicking back and revisiting our favorite obscure music of the 80’s. We would definitely be back if we ever find ourselves in the area again!

    Sarah2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy little spot, great for staying in the Brighton at a reasonable price. Simon was wonderful, even leaving bits like new toothbrushes in case you don't have one (which I didn't) makes the time there much better. It's his own home and he makes you feel like it is yours as well once you arrive. Great value and a wonderful chap!

  • A very stylish annex with plenty of amenities and run by a thoughtful and considerate host! Peacehaven itself is a fairly quiet spot but you're just down the road from Brighton where you'll find lots to do

  • This is an excellent place. Stayed for one night. Stylish and clean and meters from the coastline. Perfect

    Aatin2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our first Airbnb experience and we had a really enjoyable one night stay at the Seaside Annexe last weekend. The annexe is modern, bright, clean and well designed with everything you could need including parking and a small garden. It was actually bigger than I was expecting. And even though it's next to the host's home, it still feels private. I didn't want to leave! Grant & Rhiannon were great hosts and communication was always prompt. We would definitely stay here again ☺️

    Clair2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Grant was quick to respond and very welcoming when we arrived. The flat was modern, clean and a pleasure to stay in. Would defo come back in the future.

Our house, recently modernised has 3 beds and 2 bathrooms and is decorated to a high standard. Situated on the highest road in Saltdean we have amazing views over the Lido and the Channel. We are Sarah & Mike, and we moved here in 2016 to run a seaside B&B. We welcome visitors of any age or background so long as they are polite and tidy. Always keen to help with local info - our aim is to make your stay a happy one! PLEASE NOTE we do live on the premises. Also *PLEASE SEE CANCELLATION POLICY*.
Upstairs Bedroom: (Bedroom 2) -double bed -bedside tables & lights -fold-out desk -opening window with sea views -shelving unit with hanging space -freeview TV -full length mirror -kettle and drinks-making facilities -En-suite shower room with opening Velux window We are currently considering whether to let out bedroom 3 which is downstairs, but it is possible that 2 people could share the pull-out day bed for an extra charge. Bedroom 3 has a toilet immediately outside the door.
Saltdean is a residential village 4 miles from Brighton. Our road is 250 ft above sea level backing onto the South Downs National Park. There is a useful parade of shops nearby (less than 10 mins walk) featuring a Co-Op, Post Office, launderette, pharmacy and several takeaways. Also an authentic Italian restaurant serving the best pizzas we've tasted! ** NOTE: Steep hill back from shops! ** This is a quiet neighbourhood with very little traffic. At night in winter, all you hear is the wind and the occasional seagull.
  • Mike's house is in a neat suburban road on a hill overlooking Saltdean Lido and the bay. The house is bright and spacious, and immaculately clean and tidy. The room has a lovely sea-view and a good double bed, a hanging-space and plenty of drawers. The bathroom is en-suite with a good-sized shower cubicle, loo and stylish washbasin. Mike and his wife are friendly and pleasant, and made us welcome. We enjoyed our stay.

    Cliff2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay could not have been better. We had booked an extra night and it was no problem. The room is better than a room in a ''real b&b''. It's very clean, tidy, nicely decorated, the seperate bathroom is very handy, the sheets are fresh and very soft and the seaview is a great plus. It's also handy to have a secure parking spot. Michael and Sarah are great hosts and give very good tips. We would give them 6 out of 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Eline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Michaels place was perfect. There is no difference between a ''real'' b&b and this room. It's very clean, the separate bathroom is great, the fresh and soft sheets feel amazing and the seaview is a really nice plus. It's also handy to have a secure parking spot. Michael and Sara are very friendly hosts. We give this place 6 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    Eline2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Sarah were very friendly and gave us good advices for pub and breakfast locations. Check in and out procedures were easy and without problems. The place was very clean, well equipped and offered a great view over the city and to the sea. We would definately recommend them to others :-)

    Moritz2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Sarah's home is such a lovely place to stay, in terms of location, hospitality, cleanliness and value, and they are so welcoming and friendly..it's 5*. The bed is very comfortable, and the facilities in the bedroom & en suite are excellent (shower gels, toothpaste, kettle, teas, coffee, and use of fridge & kitchen downstairs if needed) Parking is no problem, as you can use the drive, or park on the street. I'd highly recommend staying here, and have already booked in advance! 😊

    Susan2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly hosts, thoroughly enjoyed our stay with some lovely little touches. Definitely recommend!

This is our family home ...a 5 bedroomed semi detached house, equipped for family life, nestled in the south downs with incredible far reaching views. Close to beaches, amazing towns & immediate access to the south downs.
South Heighton is a small hamlet situated in the South Downs National Park with a bridleway a minute's walk away. It is a fantastic walking & cycling area. The Newhaven-Dieppe ferry is a few minutes away by car. Lewes, a market town steeped in history & famous for its antiques, is 7 miles away. Brighton is 10 miles away & Eastbourne 13 miles. There are some lovely beaches within a few miles & plenty of cultural places of interest nearby.
  • This is a great house for a family or a few friends to share. Fantastic views, a garden to play in and a very quick route up on to the open hills if you like to walk. We had a car, but if you are organised you could easily get the train, pass by the supermarket to collect food and get a taxi to take you a short ride up the hill. There is also a pub opposite the cottage serving some food.

    Lucy2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house was even better than expected and the view was fabulous. It was centrally located for exploring the Sussex coastline and district. Would highly recommend a stay here.

  • The place is very nice for a few days, Bron and his family live in this house every day when it is not rented. Our little loved playing with games and books made available. The location is great and the area great in good weather.

    Mathieu2019-06-23T00:00:00Z

  • Bron kindly accepted our group of young women on a week-long intensive University field trip, who found the accommodation restful and ideal after lengthy working days and were thrilled to be able to spend time in the area and at the house on their days off. The wonderful views were frequently mentioned and the facilities were perfect. Thank you.

  • Brons house and garden is beautiful . The view from the garden is gorgeous. My children loved it, especially the little notes left from Brons children. The house had ample space for the 6 of us and was very comfortable and cosy.

  • Stu & Aine were excellent hosts! They made our stay such a delight. I arrived to their AirBnB quite late at night, Stu waited up for us and even reserved a parking spot for us! The bedroom has been beautifully decorated and is very well-equipped for your stay! Stu & Aine left some lovely personal touches such as fresh flowers and chocolates on the counter. They were very helpful at directing us around Lewes. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and cannot wait to visit again!

I would highly recommend staying at their place! Thank you both so much!

  • We had only just got through the door when we decided this was the loveliest Airbnb we have ever stayed in. A sensational and beautiful conversion of a traditional Sussex building in a very tasteful and arty style. Very comfortable and huge bed, great shower room, unusually well equipped kitchen and a spacious sitting area with a good TV. We were visiting a relative in Seaford and we loved that we were in a quiet little village, yet very close to the main road and the town. We hope to stay again - especially in the summer, when I can imagine the walled outside area will be a beautiful space.

  • I just loved Lorraine’s place. Although the listing was not too big, it was very warm and cozy and it felt like home. Everything was neat and clean and comfortable. The additional treats set in the room was very thoughtful and I especially enjoyed the handmade cookies that were provided. They were simply amazing :) There was plenty of space on the driveway to park which was helpful since we wanted to go in and out to visit the seven sisters. Would definately recommend!!

  • Lorraine’s place was even better than expected. It’s advertised as a garden room, but you wouldn’t think of it that way when you arrive. The room was full of clean and top spec facilities and Lorraine went out of her way to provide us with tasty complimentary treats! Lorraine even left a note and bottle of Prosecco as we went away for a special occasion. The place was located a 4 minute walk from the station and it was easy for us to commute to Brighton which was our main reason for the trip. Lorraine did however provide loads of ideas for local activities etc too. After experiencing Lorraine’s amazing hospitality we will 100% be visiting the next time we stay away for a trip to Brighton - we have already been telling friends about our lovely night away.

  • Due to a family emergency, I never quite made it to my 2 night stay. Tim was exceptionally understanding of my issue and made concessions with this booking, for which I thank him from the bottom of my heart. I WILL definitely book with you again, when I'm in the area and will get to stay in such a beautiful place next time, I hope.

  • Just what it says on the tin! I booked Tim's place at short notice and was delighted with my choice. Everything was clean and tidy, just as it should be. After a long drive, I enjoyed a friendly reception, and using Tim's directions took a stroll along the beach. I really appreciated the on-site parking too.

Quiet and peaceful is the mainstay of our area, although some weekends can see it busy with visitors to the Cuckmere Haven, South Barn and Seven Sisters. Seaford has a lovely feel to it: uncommercialised beach with kiosks, where you can rent a beach hut for the day! and chill out on a deckchair! Fantastic walks along the promenade, across Seaford Head, or play a round of golf on the local course! Stop for locally made ice cream, or mooch around the shops. Walks from the house take you quickly to Cuckmere Haven, Hope Gap and Seven Sisters, slightly further on towards Alfriston, small Sussex villages and the Vineyard with its upmarket restaurant.
  • Liz and Phil were very welcoming and the room was fantastic; clean, comfortable and warm. We also got some great advice about the local area. The photos and description are a tad misleading, as we expected a room with some form of view, which was not the case; although the beautiful views are a short walk away. Overall we had a great stay and would recommend for people keen to walk the Seven Sisters!

    Catherine2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Liz and Phil were extraordinarily friendly, accommodating hosts and the little annexe in their garden which provided both privacy and welcome tranquility in a freshly built, cozy ambiente which even included a breakfast as a base for long walks in the magnificently rugged surroundings which deserve time to indulge and wander in. Highly recommended, we liked it a lot and would come again!

  • Barney and his parents were so welcoming and friendly. I couldn't ask for more from an AirBnb stay. I knew it was going to be lovely there and already know the area well, so really looked forward to it. Yet it even exceeded my hopes. It gave me the quiet spot I hoped for in which to relax and escape during a busy time of visits and get togethers with people in the area. It's a gorgeous place with plenty of space for a single soul or a couple. And it's cosy too. Looking up through the attic windows to see a full moon and starlight, from my bed, was magical. I loved it! Also; It was good to stay somewhere through AirBnb that knew what the 2nd B stood for. I find so many places have missed the point of this site and the exchange between people that it creates a space for. Whether we meet our hosts, see them only once or have a cuppa with them, to me it is all about a human connection. This is what sets the experience apart from a holiday let. It is more than an exchange of money in order to have a bed for the night. This is a family who get that and my stay has made me want to give the site a chance again after a while of not using it.

    Clare2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Super cosy, peaceful escape!

  • We really loved our stay at Barney's cabin. It was a very comfortable stay, and the surroundings are truly beautiful for hiking. We would highly recommend this place.

  • Really nice that the kitchen had all the breakfast basics in it already.

  • My partner and I absolutely loved our stay at Barney's place. This cozy place was a perfect get away from London for 5 days - neither of us wanted to leave. It is close to beautiful hiking trails, the delicious pub and has wonderful views of the valley. Barney and his family went above and beyond for us and showed genuine kindness - making sure we had enough of everything and even drove us down to the pub. Thanks so much! We will definitely be back!

    Cassandra2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is amazing. The local pub does amazing food. Barney was extremely helpful. Would most definitely consider staying there again, couldn't have asked for a better weekend getaway.
