  • The cottage is so cute and charming to stay in. Karen and her husband were amazing hosts. As we got in, Karen showed us around to the beach and gave us insights of the area. Snorkeling at the beach was amazing. Lots of bright-colored fish by the reef. We had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed the decor of the cottage.

  • Great location, great cottage, great hosts. A real gem. Ideal for snorkelling, kayaking, enjoying the sea shore and beautiful sunsets. Encounter with dolphins almost guaranteed.

  • The Bali Cottage is a rustic, comfy space and hosts Karen and Ron are exceptional. They will bend over backwards to make sure guests are comfortable; the location is awesome, shady, and a 5 minute walk to Manini Beach. Everything you need is available in the cottage: coolers, beach towels, boogie boards, and toiletries just in case you forget yours! Go to sleep with the gentle sound of the surf... and wake up with the sun shining in your outdoor shower!

  • Stay here! It’s definitely more of a “glamping” vibe but so amazing! We loved waking up to the sounds of the ocean and wildlife. Very friendly hosts! The snorkel gear was awesome to have when we hiked to Captain Cook!

    Amanda2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most unique and memorable places I’ve ever stayed. Karen and Ron were very friendly hosts, who made sure we felt right at home.

    Bob2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough words to say how wonderful the Bali Cottage and Karen are. The space is AMAZING, the only negative thing I can think of is now all other Airbnb’s or even hotels or even my own home will all fall short of the magic that is the Bali Cottage. Karen is super communicative and welcoming and even walked me down to the beach when I got there, which btw is also amazing and charming. Literally could write a book on how much I loved my stay. Thank you again Karen for sharing your space with the world!

    Leah2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • A magical place! It has so much atmosphere and quirky touches. Kitchen had everything we needed and we spent a lot of our time on the porch. Didn’t miss the lack of air conditioning for our visit in November. We really settled in and enjoyed our 3 days immensely. You’re not just staying at a place, you’re really being hosted.

  • One of the best Airbnb’s we have ever stayed in. It was a perfect home to us during our trip to Captain Cook. Jesse and Lucia were great at checking in and making sure we were taken care of. We wish we had known about the roosters, we eventually got used to them, but the first night was definitely a surprise! I would recommend ear plugs to any light sleepers, but the (other) sounds of nature were wonderful to fall asleep and wake up to. I loved the openness of the living room; we really felt connected to nature and it definitely helped us relax and enjoy. The floor above can be nosy if others are walking around, but that’s to be expected anywhere you stay, really. But again, we really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely stay again. Thank you for everything! Mahalo!

  • The place was amazing, design and decor was one of a kind. Definitely enjoyed our stay here! Very warm and welcoming hosts

  • We loved our stay at the Mango Farm! Thank you to Heather for making us feel right at home!

    Lisa2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect place to kick off our honeymoon. Heather provides us with all the amenities and recommendations to enjoy our stay as a “local” - which is our favorite way to travel. The fresh fruit from farm was a plus :) We arrived after dark and check in was easy and the location was simple to find. Beaches, restaurants and markets were 10-20 minutes away. We loved being away from the hustle, nestled into nature. We miss falling asleep to the sound of the frogs. It was hard not to be emotional upon leaving. It truly felt like home. We plan to visit again :)

  • Absolute perfection! While the photos of the property are beautiful, the real life experience is even better. The accommodation is spotless, artfully styled and so comfortable. What the photos can't show is the serenity of the farm. I didn't want to leave, it's so tranquil and relaxing. You can tell the farm is loved and that love is infused into the house. Dinner on the balcony as the sun sets with delicious food from a local takeaway spot recommended by the host was a highlight of our trip. Thank you for the warm aloha, we hope to return again and stay for a bit longer.

  • This was our second time staying at The Mango Farm and it was absolutely amazing just like the first time we stayed :) Everything was well thought out and designed, in a gorgeous location with a fantastic view! We loved seeing all the animals on the farm and being enclosed by nature. The Mango Farm is truly a special place <3

  • We loved our stay here! Incredible ocean views, cool design, open-air feeling with walls of sliding glass doors and windows, spacious and open, and an amazing top floor master suite. Great proximity to Captain Cook (just minutes away), and close to other beaches (Two Step), and only about 20 min from Kona. Highly recommend!

  • The mango farm is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. It was our first Airbnb Plus experience and it more than lived up to the title. It was huge, comfortable, and had gorgeous views of the ocean and surrounding Captain-cook. At times we even wished we’d planned fewer activities so that we could relax there!

    Ben2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is spectacular and very special. The architecture and interior design will live up to the expectations of any Manhattan architect !

  • Very nice location. Far from the big tourist spots, without being too far either. The location is great, in nature. Melinda was welcoming and kind. Overall the experience is good. The cleaning is done, but the walls are dirty and the couches dusty and with cat hair. 2 cats live in the house downstairs; but goes upstairs (part which is rented airbnb) and he is able to open the door. I think some visitors let him in. My allergies manifested quite a bit. But hey, I would come back to this place without asking myself the question; we liked a lot. :) Really cheap for what it is!

  • Breathtaking beautiful view of the valley and ocean from the wraparound porch. Kitchen has everything needed for fixing a quick meal. The sink, as mentioned previously, has been well used but functional. 2 nice bedrooms with storage. Many amenities to bath area. Owner lives downstairs and will be readily accessible if needed. Enjoyed our stay

  • We enjoyed our stay here. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. The lanai was a wonderful place for morning tea or sunset relaxing. The beds were very comfortable. It was a great base for jumping off into our adventures.

    Denise2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful view! Spacious home. We loved having access to a full kitchen and made use of the stove, rice cooker, and coffee maker. Not as much wiildlife ambiance as other places on the island, but at night we did hear the occasional coqui or falling avocado. Driveway is a little tricky to get out of (on a steep hill, in the bend of a winding road). Would stay here again!

    Helen2019-11-28T00:00:00Z

Or stay in and enjoy the breezes and seemingly endless view of the west side of the island. Peter is a great host and will share fresh fruits right from his orchard. There are two sides of our business (The Terraces), the farm and the rentals. Our motto for both is, "where small things matter, choose wisely." "The Terraces" is the life long dream of founders Stacey Richards. It was created to provide an environment for people to learn about the importance of diet, nutrition, climate, and community. We have two goals for our farm: The first is to provide members of our community and visitors with fresh, organic, and locally sourced food and flowers. People often only notice the general qualities of food, and so often miss the small and important details that truly make a meal healthy. The second is to create a culture where the people eating our food know how their meals were produced, and how much joy was put into creating it. We feel this is important because part of the enjoyment of a meal is knowing the care that went into creating every aspect of it, from the growing to the cooking. We want people to understand and make choices about every aspect of the way their food is produced. Our vacation rental has one simple goal: to help you have the best possible visit to our property and island. If you are someone who just wants a clean and comfortable space to rest your head at the end of the day, that is something we are happy to provide. If you want more out of your vacation rental than that, we would love for you to join us for dinner or help you check out some of our favorite places. We are here to make your trip as wonderful as possible, and we are excited to help you accomplish that goal in whatever way works for you. We provide all of this with the love and attention to detail of people who are aware of the importance of the small touches. In a nutshell, most of our life is made up of small, and often unconscious, choices. In both sides of our business we believe in making these choices consciously. We do our cleaning, eating, growing, decoration, etc. with a purpose.
The Hawaiian Ocean View Estates development consists of 10,697 1-acre lots north of the Hawaii Belt Road in the western part of the District of Kaʻū. The terrain varies from rugged lava fields to ohiʻa trees and other vegetation. Elevation ranges from about 1,500 ft (460 m) up to the 5,000-foot (1,500 m) level. Initial sales began in the late 1950s. The original developer of HOVE was the Crawford Oil Company. Later, other subdivisions were put in place downslope of HOVE and the Hawaii Belt Road. In the early 1980s a service station and a hardware store were built. In January 2004, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park purchased the nearby property previously known as Kahuku Ranch. In 1989 the Ocean View Town Center was developed and the Ocean View Road Maintenance Corporation began an extensive rebuilding program of the roads. Shortly thereafter the Ocean View Development Corporation started a new market which included a laundromat and restaurant. Ocean View now has three shopping centers. There are now three gas stations, three grocery stores, a hardware store and and four restaurants. Ocean View has a post office with the ZIP code of 96737.
  • The cabin is in a quiet neighborhood. It was a great place to hang my hat. I was up and about the island all day, and used the cabin primarily for sleeping.

  • Lovely place to stay, everything was just as described, easily accessible. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

  • Stacy and tom are excellent host. They are so friendly and gave a helpful information. House has good view. There is south point near house. And you can see that at home. There is so cute puppy and cats. It’s adorable.

  • I stayed there only for one night but the house is so beautifully located and built that I would like to have spent more time here. It's a little bit uphill of the main road which gives you a nice view over the southern part of the big island. The sky can be so clear that you can see the whole universe and it's super quiet. The guest house is separate from the host's but equipped with an own kitchen, bathroom and restroom. So you can stay either on the wonderful porch or come up to the host who kindly offer you coffee and having a little chat with them. Mahalo!

  • Great place for a quiet retreat to disconnect! Stacey provided us a clean, cute cabin. The lanai area was my favorite part! There were comfy chairs and nice tables for us to play cards. Stacey greeted us when we arrived, and we were also greeted by two little kitties. Stacey also provided brochures and maps to help us plan things to do during our stay. Overall, great stay and the locals were very nice at the local watering hole (Mehe's).

  • This cabin was so clean and welcoming. The host were so welcoming and gave great recs on local things to do!

  • What a lovely space in Ocean view! Only 30 min drive to the green sand beach home 30 min to Captain Cook hike, and a few other fun local spots! The little black cat, which we named Gato, is sooooo sweet, we miss having him next to us when we wake, a kind protector of the land. The kitchen has everything you need, from a fridge to stove and coffee maker, pots pans, dishes. The bed is comfortable, warm enough and it's nice that the room is enclosed since the rest of the house is "open" with the netting, which we love!!! The main room is much bigger than the photos show, and the garden surrounding is stunning. We love this space, thanks for the hospitality & our laundry! Hope to see you again

    Maci2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Stacy and Tim we’re both there to greet us when we arrived. We only stayed one night and left quite early to get a jump on volcanoes national park but the cabin was exactly as described! Tucked into a beautiful garden, quiet and rustic, with two very friendly cats wandering around. We had a great short stay.

The Place in Paradise main attractions are the location, fantastic ocean front view, own entrance, and great accommodations. It offers you a peaceful retreat after a long day of exploring the Big Island.
An unbelievable 180 degree unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean from the Place in Paradise. Beautiful sunsets can be seen right from the studio. A full kitchen complements a bedroom/living room that has fresh linens and towels. In addition, coffee, banana, and papaya trees on the property. We provide complimentary fruit (seasonal), water, juice and Kona Coffee upon arrival. Guests have their own entrance and there is free Wi-FI. This is the dry side of the Island therefore, it is always sunny and nice at the beach. At night, the house and studio are at an elevation where it is cool. Topical Birds wake you up in the morning and Koke Frogs will put you to sleep at night. A mixture of tropical and horse/cow sounds can be heard throughout the day and sometimes at night. Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown this is a quiet retreat for a couple who like history and like being close to beaches. Tropical beaches are a short drive away. It is in Honaunau, Hawaii and is 35 minutes from the Kona Airport, 20 mins. from Kona and 10 mins. south Captain Cook. Located in a quiet area across from the Painted Church (built and inside artistically painted in the 1800's). 5 famous beaches starting 4 minutes away from the studio : Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park - 4 min., Two-Step Beach at Honaunau Bay(snorkeling, diving) - 4 min., Manini Beach - 14 min., Kealakekua Bay/Beach: (marine sanctuary - snorkeling, kayaking, etc), Ho`okena Beach Park (camping, Kayaking) - 20min. If you want to go to more beaches on the Big Island they are there for your exploration. Being in the heart of coffee country we have the Coffee Shack (famous for all organic breakfast with fresh bread baked daily) plus we have our own local grocery store (Choice Mart) just 10 minutes away.
The neighborhood is friendly and quiet. The guest will be refreshed in the morning to tackle anything they want to do on the Big Island of Hawaii. The guest's can also rest in the comfort of a Place in Paradise studio.
  • Wow! This is probably my favorite ever Airbnb experience. Firstly Earl and Linda are great hosts, they provided tons of amenities, fresh fruit from their garden, snacks and drinks! Wonderful local coffee too!! The location is simply fantastic. If you like to snorkel/dive you are located about a 2 minute drive from Two Step. The location is less than 10 minutes from Ho'okena beach and the Captain cook monument trail too. This was great for us because parking at these places fills up quickly so being able to get there early in the morning is a huge bonus!! From the bedroom you can look out across the beautiful ocean views from the 3 huge windows. We would watch the sunset here most evenings and it was wonderful. The building is close to the beautiful painted church which is worth visiting. The night times were very peaceful, with the usual Hawaiian jungle sounds. We just want to thank you again Linda and Earl! We hope we will be back soon.

  • This is one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed at. The amenities were amazing and there were so many things we’d forgotten that were provided for us. I was excited to see we could use snorkel gear left on the deck for us, I had such an amazing time! I honestly wish I’d have booked this place for my entire stay in Hawaii. I hope we can come back one day!

    Beckett2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, great view. Superb hosts. Looking forward to returning.

    Kay2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Best walk-in snorkeling in Hawaii is 2 mins drive, literally. You get an unobstructed view and a comfortable homey spot!! Def recommend, Earl is a good dude :)

    Jessica2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Don't hesitate for a moment to visit Linda and Earl. From their simple and atypical house facing the sea, you will hear frogs, birds, see the Milky Way, since large mosquito nets replace the windows. We will not detail the little food and other attentions, there are too many. More friendly and welcoming, it's hard to find. Thank you Linda and Earl

  • Great location with great thoughtful amenities. Everything you need for a great time.

    Lyle2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time in this apartment - this is a dream view! We love to listen to the nature sounds at night and during the day. The complimentary snacks and fruit are so good! We would come back any time. Our favourite place in the island!

The room is furnished with king size bed and mini-ridge/freezer. There are 4 accommodation choices. Every possibility for your enjoyment. If you are confused, I suggest you click on my profile picture which has the 4 listings separately. Snorkeling gear is provided for your enjoyment in our beautiful protected bays.
Each room in the home accommodates 2 guests per king size bed with a mini-fridge/freezer for your personal items. Extra guests will not be accommodated; unregistered guests do not have access to the property.
Property is on one acre; totally safe and has entry via electronic gates. The local grocer, Choice Mart. Located 3 miles north of the home open from 5 am – 10 pm daily. The house and property is equipped with plenty of private spaces. Free internet connections available throughout the property to allow everyone personal space as desired.
  • Gorgeous house with an ocean view which I’ll recommend to anyone who asks where to stay at the big island.

    Ilana2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • The beauty of the room and the entire estate is just like other evaluations. It is very beautiful and unimaginable. I hope that I can have such a home in the urban jungle. I think the owner is a very easy-going lady who is very considerate, but unfortunately my English is so bad that I ca n’t talk too much with her. I have to mention her baking skills here, and I will definitely not lose the other chef masters. Every morning, I eat the owner's cakes, cookies, and coffee, and with the excellent manor landscape, it really makes people reluctant to leave! !! !! Unfortunately, we were too focused on other attractions in those days. Quietly lying on the couch in the manor, listening to the songbirds and watching the sunset, maybe it will make people who come on vacation more relaxed. By the way, I would like to especially thank the roosters in the manor, and thank them for waking me up on time one hour or two hours before the alarm clock, and never let me oversleep. I think if there is grilled chicken, then there will be more than 5 stars Haha

  • I booked a room w/ a shared bath at Rhonda's place, and it was the perfect place to relax and get good sleep in the first days of my vacation. Besides the many amenities like a pool and beach gear, I appreciated the level of cleanliness and fresh towels. Rhonda also offered a guidebook library for guests, as well as daily treats. It was very easy to find, and a very comfortable place to stay on the Big Island.

    Christine2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great location in Captain Cook. The pool was perfectly warm so I was able to swim even in the rain. There are a lot of upfront rules which was intimidating but they are really easy to follow if you are courteous and considerate. Would stay again!

    Mary Alaina2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Rhonda is the best there is for a bnb. Warm, informative, comfortable. unlike some Airbnb listings, her space is NOT oversold. You relax the moment you get there. This is my second time staying with her a year apart and it is just as good. My only regret is not staying longer!

    Theresa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Rhonda's place is a little paradise in paradise (Captain Cook's bay is amazing). We especially appreciated Rhonda's hospitality, the comfort of her house, the view and the pool! We would definitively love to come back if we ever go back to Big Island again.

    Nancy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Rhonda is a great hostess. Like she mentions it’s close to the main road so you will hear cars and she’s in the country so there will be roosters.

  • This is the kind of place that gives Airbnb a good reputation with travellers. It is great value and novel, totally unlike a standard hotel. You will need a reliable vehicle and preferably will enjoy driving. Not for anyone afraid of heights or steep hills or twisty roads. I found it fun. Saw a whale a few times, in early February.

    Peter2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a comfortable and serene location. Breathtaking views and lovely accomodations with spacious rooms and every possible item you would ever need provided. Maria is a great hostess, always available with a suggestion or directions, but never intrusive. We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again if we ever return to the Big Island.

    Jayne2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was much better than expected. We originally booked it as just somewhere cheap and relatively nice to stay after arriving on a late flight. Well it turned out to be one of our favourite spots during our entire stay! The road is steep and dark, but we still had no problem finding the place in the mind space of someone who's been traveling for twenty four hours. We had the entire huge main floor to ourselves as well as a private patio and access to the front deck which has an incredible view of the ocean and surrounding lava flows. Maria was super friendly (her and her partner waited on the deck in the dark for our arrival!), with lots of nice touches in the space and a very well stocked kitchen! In a nutshell, we could not believe the value for what we paid, and Maria's place has gone from "backup place" to where we will probably spend our entire vacation next time we come to the big Island (and we will be back!)

    Michael2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Far better than we expected. The apartment was very clean and laid out perfectly. All of the small touches were perfect. Even had a bullet so I could make my morning smoothies. Maria is amazing. So helpful and accommodating. We have rented from other places that were good but this experience was great!!!! We definitely know were we are booking on the Island from now on.

    Mishelle2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Maria’s home was exactly as described. It’s in an ideal spot close to all sorts of great things to do in Kona. The house provides a panoramic view of the ocean, which was breathtaking. Maria was very hospitable, and offered great advice on things to do. Staying here absolutely made my trip.

    Christopher2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sufficient to satisfy expectations. It's close to the beach and its owner is very kind and nice. The room is in perfect condition. I really want to go there again.😍

  • Thank you. Loved being on the ranch

  • The dome was great! We had some issues with charging our devices, but we were fine with just charging our phones in the car. It was cold when we stayed, but there were plenty of blankets available and we knew we could ask for a heater if we wanted. The kitchen is equipped with lots of stuff - very doable to make meals! The family that lives on the property was SO nice and the kids and animal were so cute to see each morning.

    Bri2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was a fun experience. A ways out of town and a little hard to find but once you figure it out it’s a piece of cake. Stayed in Dome 2. The weather didn’t cooperate but we did wake up in the middle of the night to star gaze and it was out of this world cool. We live it Utah and have great star gazing but nothing compared to this. Never been off the grid before and that was interesting. Couldn’t use a blow dryer in the dome and my straightener didn’t get very hot. You can use those items in the main house though. Could have used some beach chairs for our adventures. Thanks Rose for always being prompt in answering my questions.

    Kimberly2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The dome is amazing, even better in person than the listing. We had no problems with electricity or hot water, no bugs. Beautifully decorated and well located to everything we wanted to do. We will return for sure!

    Scott2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place to getaway. Unfortunately is rained the night we stayed over so we couldn’t star gaze. Very secluded and unique experience.

    Crystal2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was beautiful!! Rose is a great host and sends very timely and thorough communication. Make sure you read through her arrival instructions in detail, especially if you’re arriving at night. The place was very comfortable and had a lot of thoughtful touches. I was traveling in February, so it was very cold at the top of the mountain. Be sure to pack warm pajamas!! The stars are unreal!!! My first night it was storming, but once the storm was over and the clouds cleared, you could see a ton of stars and then I saw so many more the next night.

    Kati2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place, very unique experience!!

    Isabelle2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful experience ! We had a crystal clear night star gazing and could see every constellation . The small touches made it feel like home and the dome was extremely clean. The property itself is so amazing and the ride up was half the fun ! We will be back!

  • Amazing place to stay! Beautiful, scenic, so many good things to stay. The mini house is really neat and I love that all the windows are screen, I hope to be back again in the future!

  • This was our favorite AirBnb we have ever stayed at! The cabin was amazing and it was so fun to sleep in the loft with such an amazing view. Shucheng provided amazing little touches. We loved that there were beach chairs, an umbrella, and towels available for us to use for our beach days. Don’t miss this place if it’s available!

    Rachel2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magical! Every detail of the cabin is exquisite, and even though it’s a tiny home, it feels very spacious. It was such a treat to fall asleep to the sounds of the birds, sleep up in the sky and look out over the water while drinking my coffee in the morning. The complimentary beers, coffee and candy were a great touch too! Can’t wait for my next chance to stay here!!

    Cara2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Best. Stay. Ever. William and Shucheng built their stylish open air cabin on their beautiful farm and I could not ask for a better stay for my last night on the big island. From the most comfortable bed I've experienced at an airbnb, I watched the sun set over the ocean and woke up to the sounds of an awakening farm. So so great!!

    Tiffany2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute place. Gets a 5 star from me but a few touches would have been better. Doesn’t have a microwave so nothing to heat food. Doesnt have wifi, or atleast we didn’t have any information on it. That was a little tough, my business in through my phone no network and no wifi made a but hard. Except that the place is super cute and waking up to nature sounds in surreal. Get a little cold but thats another excuse to stay closer to ur partner in a blanket.

    Kanika2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is so perfect! The views are wonderful, the cabin is so comfortable and beautifully finished and being on the farm is just great. Shucheng is an amazing host, everything we needed was available at the cabin, the local suggestions were fantastic and we had great communication before and during our stay. We hope to be back to visit again in the future. Thank you Shucheng

  • We spent 5 fantastic nights, in contact with nature, isolated but at the same time close to many attractions. the house is small but full of all needs, with extreme attention to details . The bed is large and has a wonderful ocean view. Around it is full of animals (roosters, pheasants, birds and sometimes pig) for us something special ... maybe not for everyone. Sushen is very communicative and helpful. We will definitely return.

    Andrea2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really unique place to stay. It was great to starwatch from the lofted bed and sleep with the sea breeze. The host was very communicative. Would definitely recommend!

Located in South Kona, this Kona Paradise home is a wonderful place to come relax, cook a nice meal and watch the sunset on our enclosed covered lanai. Enjoy our very peaceful 2 bd/2ba home. Pebble Beach is just a short drive down the hill ( 4 mns. with steep but secured central Kaohe Rd.)where one can swim and snorkel as well as hike the King's Trail along the coast. ( large parking at the End of Mapuna Rd- last lateral Rd. at the bottom) Hookena Beach is just 5 miles North and is often the location where the dolphins come to play. We are about a 20minutes drive through beautiful coffee farm lands, direction to the town of Kailua-Kona. Volcanoes National Park and Green Sand Beach is about an 1 hr to 1.5 hours South. TV: Smart Flat screen TV (,Flicks,Hulu,Vaduz,YouTube,Netflix..) Private Bathroom and King size bed in Master bedroom with views of the ocean from the lanai. Also King size bed in second bedroom. Kitchen is well equipped.
Kona Paradise is a very safe and clean neighborhood. Access to Pebble beach at bottom of hill is one of my favorite beaches. Parking : do take the last lateral Mapuna Rd.on your left. Sometimes ( only sometimes) it is a bit rough and the current is to strong to swim in , but one can always stay at the shore and let the waves roll you around on the pebbles. Very special and fun! Also some nice hiking along the coast line to the left and to a black sand beach,to the right. Some attractive wild goats around, inoffensive wild pigs and their little ones, cut and funny small green geckos.Best Sunsets and ( or) Stars from the beach. Magic Time ! Kaohe, the central rd. of Kona Paradise ,from Hwy. to the shore( Pebble Beach) is pretty steep ,but fully secured.
  • Great atmosphere and location. House is cozy, kitchen is nice, everything is peaceful and relaxing. Had all the swimming/beach stuff we needed and our two year old felt at home. Beautiful flowers and grennery and the sunset views were amazing. Highly recommend this place, and Guy was very helpful with tips on where to go and what to do. We would go back for sure.

    Jaryd2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What's not to like? I would give this peaceful home-on-the-hill a 6-star rating. Is it for you? Expect nights that are inky black with a heavenly star show. Expect utter quiet except for bird calls, the rustle of breezes, and occasional raindrops hitting the roof. And expect about a dozen friendly geckos who are amazing acrobats. You will find plenty of hot and cold water, lots of towels, a top-notch washer and dryer (but I used the clothes line), and a well-equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds, too. Porches are screened and windows open on all sides to catch the breezes. Oh, one more thing: The Hill. Think San Francisco. Nestled at the end of one of the cross-streets, this home is perched about 2/3 of the way up a hill. Drive down to the bottom to find a black pebble beach and the King's trail. Great to hike in both directions but bring good boots. Up top is Highway 11, zero road noise, and the highway will take you to markets, parks, and other beaches (20-30 min drive). Guy, Delphine's dad, did a wonderful job hosting, start-to-finish. He's knowledgeable about the area. And in case you are bilingual, il parle francais. Merci beaucoup! A lovely 9-day stay and wish it had been longer. 6 Stars!

  • Tucked away in a neighborhood, windows and lanai with west-facing spectacular views of the ocean, casual, comfortable fully equipped home----this wonderful place is just as it is described: Peaceful House. We loved it here!

  • wonderful place to stay, very secluded and quiet, great for a restful escape from our busy lives, we would definitely come back for another stay

  • What a wonderful start to our Hawaii vacation. The host, Guy (Dephine's dad), is a sweet man who sent wonderful warm friendly and helpful messages before we arrived. He provided excellent directions, and even told us where the local supermarket is, so we could get groceries on the way to the house. Later we benefitted from his generous tips on places to go, nearby beaches, bakeries, etc. There was also a number of books and brochures in the house with more information about things to see and do on the Big Island. The house was comfortable, well-furnished and very nicely and creatively decorated with beautiful views of the ocean from the lanai, the living room and the master bedroom. The kitchen was great with a wonderful stove and all-new appliances; great place to cook. There was a beautiful dining table near the kitchen, but we preferred to eat at the table on the lovely lanai that wraps around ¾ of the house with a big eating area & potential sleeping area where you enter. There were lots of creative little touches in the house, such as the toothbrush holder in the shape of a pretty palm tree. A stairway leads to an area below the house where the washer and dryer are. There is also a lot of snorkeling and other equipment the guests can use. We made good use of some beach chairs that we were able to borrow and take to the beach one day. We had a fabulous time at Peaceful House in Kona Paradise. My spouse took Guy's suggestion to put little bits of fruit on her fingers while out on the lanai, to have the little geckos come and literally eat out of her hand. (I was asleep in bed at that time; she told me about it later.) My only regret was that I forgot to do the same. It rained on our last day there, and in our rush to drive to our 2nd place on the other side of the island, I forgot to entice the geckos to eat from my hand. (The 2nd place had no geckos.) The place was wonderful and so was the host, Guy. He is very communicative and friendly if you want communication, but totally respecting of your privacy if you don't. I highly recommend the Peaceful House in Kona Paradise.

    Dajenya2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful view! Amazing wildlife just in the backyard. We witness a family of wild pigs coming though on a daily basis and they were so cute! The geckos are also very friendly and I enjoyed the sounds at night around the house. It’s so peaceful you can hear every insect making sound. I loved it! Highly recommend sleeping with the sliding door open. :) The house is older, but I will never forget that view. If we come to the big island again, I would definitely considering staying here again. Note: the house is located in an area with steep hills. It’s pretty safe but our car did have a difficult time going all the way down And up to pebble beach.

  • Large house in a beautiful location. Lots of accessories for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling available. Unfortunately a bit out of the way and therefore a lot to drive. Hosts are super nice and helpful

Peaceful and quite escape 40 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Kona town. Family oriented neighborhood located in South Kona, enjoy our newly renovated private 1bd/1ba lower level studio with private entrance and lanai with gorgeous ocean views. Open and airy studio which flows onto large lanai for your outdoor extended living area.
Welcome to our newly renovated private 1bd/1ba lower level studio with private entrance and large lanai with gorgeous ocean views. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy your meals and morning coffee on the lanai looking out to the ocean and feeling the tropical breeze! This is a beautiful open and airy studio which flows onto large lanai for your outdoor extended living area. It’s located in a peaceful subdivision with a beautiful local beach just below. Granite counter tops in bathroom and bar. Fresh paint and new bamboo flooring throughout living areas. New and comfortable bed with plenty of pillows and new couches for your enjoyment. Very clean and inviting! Amenities: Includes wet bar, microwave, small fridge with freezer, coffee pot, large toaster oven, single hot plate for simple cooking, and some kitchen utensils. Games, books and some beach accessories provided. TV with Roku for smart TV availability. WiFi access. Sorry, washer and dryer are not for guest use.
Family oriented neighborhood located 40 minutes South of Kona. Attractions: Pebble Beach is just a short but steep drive (or walk if looking for a good exercise!) down the hill where one can swim when ocean conditions allow. Pebble beach can have calm waters to snorkel, kayak, and paddle board but do note that during some seasons the waves can be large and enjoyable to watch from only ashore. You can also hike the King's Trail along the coast to a small more private black sand beach. Hookena Beach is only 5 miles north and is often the location where the dolphins come to play and rest. We are about a 40 minute drive to the town of Kailua-Kona. Volcanoes National Park and Green Sands Beach is about an 1 hour south. Two step and Place of Refuge are sights to be seen and is only a 15 minute drive. Also, short 15 minute drive to Kona Café, and Coffee House. Every Sunday morning until 2pm there are local farmers markets located in Captain Cook. Also, there are nearby local fruit stands that are on the side of the road.
  • Orion and Rachell's place is a great spot to stay in Big Island. Their yard with papaya trees, bird of paradise and coconut palms is beautiful and watching the stars or the sunset from the lanai is truly Kona Paradise. The room: The bed is *very* comfortable! The shower is small, but gets great hot water, and everything was immaculately clean. They also have all kinds of beach stuff stocked in the room for you to use: snorkels and fins, beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, noodles...everything! They also have board games, chess, monopoly and scrabble, and a TV w/Roku loaded up for netflix/hulu/prime etc. But the lanai is really where the money is, it's unforgettable. Orion and Rachell and their family live upstairs, and we could hear some noise in the morning, but they were very respectful. The neighborhood is definitely family oriented, so be aware of that if you're expecting a secluded romantic getaway. Beaches and recommendations: "Pebble Beach" at the end of the neighborhood's road is also a great place to watch the sunset, but definitely don't try to walk down (it's only a mile so we thought we could make it--we gave up after the first block, it's VERY steep.) Like they say, the place is about 20 minutes to the nearest grocery store and about 15 minutes from the nearest gas station (which is also closed at night) so be prepared when you get there. However, it's driving distance from all the amazing snorkel spots and beaches. We snorkeled every day at Two-Step, Ho'okena, Kealakekua Bay and a bit further north at Kahalu'u. There are many fruit stands along the drive on the 11, so you can get fresh fruit while you're out and have a great breakfast the next morning. Shaka Tacoz and The Coffee Shack were great lunch spots along the drive. If you plan to head to Kona for restaurants/night life, be prepared for a 40 minute drive on narrow winding roads--be very careful on the way back!

  • This place is great. Amazingly beautiful view from the deck. Comfortable and a great place for relaxing. The beach down the hill was our favorite on this trip, so unique. Highly recommend.

    Mckenzie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just lovely. It is very comfortable, with everything you need, very ergonomic and clean - it really feels like they thought about everything a traveler might need or want. You can sleep with the window open and hear the rustle of the palm trees all night, which is like soft rain but gentler...with the backdrop of the ocean, tropical flowers blooming all around, and a million stars visible from the private lanai, this led to the most delicious night of sleep we had all week. This place achieves both comfort AND specialness...not always easy to find at once. Great hosts, considerate and welcoming, and non-intrusive. Would definitely stay here again!

    Anna2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much. Orion and Rachell were very nice and accommodating. Provided coffee/coffee-machine unlike other places we stayed at on the islands. Amazing deck overlooking the ocean with a great sunset view. Everything was very clean. Only thirty-ish minutes from Kealakekua bay and twenty minutes from Puuhonua national park. Amazing snorkeling in the bay. Pretty steep incline/walk to the house from where parked however. The hosts were very nice and Im sure would help with luggage/etc. We didnt have any major issues, but if raining or if joint issues I could see it being difficult. Would definitely stay again.

    James2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Good location for exploring Captain Cook monument, 2Step, area of Refuge, Ho'okena Beach, Pebble Beach below. Some sound transmits through ceiling.

    Dave2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful view. I would recommend it

    Jovannie2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Orion and Rachel’s. The place is lovely and the lanai is wonderful for sitting on and enjoying the incredible views and night sky. The suite has all you need to feel welcome and comfortable. It was lovely to be in such a quiet neighbourhood - worth the drive!

    Kathy2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very great place to stay, with an amazing view of the sea from the large veranda. Equipment everything you need, as well as a lot of equipment for snorkeling and swimming including chairs and umbrella. Rachel and Orion are great hosts. We can recommend the accommodation 100%. Many thanks to Rachel and Orion

  • We really liked the accommodation, everything was very clean. The outdoor kitchen lace and coffee and fruits great

    Nadine2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This truly is the most magical and wonderful place we have stayed at on our whole trip. Communication was very easy, any wish we had was fullfilled, we felt very comfortable and were sad to leave. We could eat as much fresh fruit from the trees as possible, just amazing! Only thing I will not miss are the mosquitoes, but they are just everywhere in moist areas.

    Elke2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was a magical place to stay. We enjoyed the tour around the property and the variety of fruit to pick and enjoy. The bed was comfortable and the coffee was delicious. We liked all of the geckos around the cabin.

  • Amazing experience and wonderful host!

    Wesley2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Rural and beautiful bungalow on a farm with lots of fresh fruit and coffee. Beach amenities like chairs, snorkel gear, coolers available to borrow. Equidistant (~60-90 mins) from major attractions like Kona and Volcanoes. No AC but generally cool from the shade plus fans available. The kitchen and bathroom are both detached from the sleeping area so be prepared to walk outside for either of those! The walkway is wood/paved.

    Aliyah2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • If you like feeling like you are glamping than this is your place. This is nature at its best, you can here the coqui frogs and rain at night and the birds chirping in the AM. Nice breeze at night, cool outside kitchen. Keep in mind this is a little far out from Kona. Was totally worth feeling like we were in the old Hawaii.

    Keresse2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Cool accommodation on the farm. Feeling like staying in the Jungle. We recommend. The accommodation is unfortunately not lockable. But there is a small safe for the valuables. Outdoor kitchen is great.

    Ralf2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This accommodation is unique! We were in the whale cottage and were very amazed by the fresh fruits and the delicious KONA-coffee which was offered to us. Brad showed us with a lot of passion and interesting information his organic coffee plantation. He also gave us hints about beautiful beaches. There is a very nice lava-trail close to the house to the coast and we were so lucky to see some spinning-dolphins there. The only hard thing is to get your clothes dry in the tropical climate. If you like nature outside and sometimes also inside (f. e. geckos), you'll enjoy a lot this magic place.

The home is located at a 800 foot elevation so the ocean views in this neighborhood are phenomenal. You would need to drive to the beach or shore. There are no stores, or restaurants in Milolii. It is the last fishing village in Hawaii
  • Great view, comfortable house, lots of great recommendations on things to do nearby.

    Karen2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This property has fantastic views from the pool and from the beautiful deck that wraps around the whole house! It is a quiet, relatively remote paradise with everything we needed. We found fresh fruit waiting for us in the kitchen upon arrival with a great list of things to see and do. Ample screened windows open to allow the plentiful tradewinds to cool off the house without the need for air conditioning. The presence of a highchair/crib, and toys for small children was a major bonus for our 1 yr old. There was plenty of hot water, although as should be expected water pressure was limited. The owner is responsive via Airbnb messenger only.

    Alex2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful property with lots of useful amenities including a very nice and well-stocked kitchen, great private pool with lots of toys and beautiful surroundings. A large family group, like ours, will definitely enjoy!

    Jo2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and a little oasis away from the more touristy areas in Kona. We really appreciated being half way between Kona and the south part of the island so that we could take advantage of both. The house was perfect for our big group and we loved sitting on the lanai and enjoying the beautiful ocean view.

    Tisa2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home! We were happy not to be in the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. We were a short drive, about an hour, to both Kona and Volcano National Park. So many things to do and see, but always happy to have a peaceful retreat to come home to in the evenings! We enjoyed snorkeling at the beach close to the home and also loved the beach a short 15 minute walk from snorkeling. Great home with plenty of space for our 4 adults and 5 kiddos!

    Kassi2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great 4 days here at the pineapple palace just the two of us. We enjoyed the great view from the deck, the pool, and using the kitchen and grill to cook at home. The place had everything we needed. We liked checking out the lesser known beach that hosts recommended and appreciated being able to bring along some beach chairs and water bottles with us on our adventures. The place is not too far south from captain cook but it is a bit of a drive on the big island to get from place to place so make sure to include thus in your plans and stock up on food to cook at home.

    Todd2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great family destination if you don’t mind being away the main tourist areas of the Kona side of the Big Island. The house is warm and comfortable and having the pool is a great addition. The narrow winding road down to the house might scare some folks off but the view once you get there is worth it. The area, Milolii, offers a feeling of isolation but also a sense of the “real” Hawaii without all of the hotels and tourist traps. I definitely recommend it....

  • The little farm house is a gem! Located in a quiet neighbourhood, which my husband and I really loved. Amazing hosts. Cozy, cute and well equipped little place. The hosts’ dog Ziggy was one of the highlights of our stay! He greeted us upon arrival and every morning until the day we left.

  • The little Farm House is a wonderful and very aesthetic furnished tiny house on a beautiful place to enjoy life. We had a great time on Big Island and really loved this cute little "home". Mark was very helpful and to communicate was very easy, quick and interesting. He gave us a lot of tips about activities, places around the Island, his delicious Fingerlimes and the local people. Thank you! We hope to come back soon on this wonderful place.

    Roswi2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Mark's place was a perfect location that wasn't too close to the city (which is what we wanted). He was a responsive host that gave great suggestions of places/beaches to visit. It was very tidy, charming, had a lovely view, and provided good amenities (BBQ, etc). A good jumping off point if you would like to explore the south.

    Anthony2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks to Mark for hosting us. We really had an awesome stay in the tiny house. The house was very clean and with the good written route informations easy to find. We loved the quite place and the beautiful landscape and the view from the house down to the ocean. The small street in front of the house was really no problem and there was no noice disturbing us. All windows in the house have blinding folds. In the house is everything you need to stay here for a while. The bed in the roof with the small windows you can open. This was so cool especially in the night. We brought a gallon of water with us for teeth cleaning. ( a smal Tipp :) ). The carpark direkt in front of the house was a great bonus. My wife enjoyed hanging arround with the house dog Ziggy. Although the free Wifi we love to use. All in all it was better than we expected and we would definitely come again here if we are visiting Big Island. We really can recommend Marks Tiny House. Huge thanks

    Paul2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Marks place is very charming and a great use of a small space. He communicates well and very quickly. I would go back and highly recommend for anyone who wants to stay away from the resorts/crowds but still wants a great view of the water and volcanic flows.

    Elena2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at Mark’s tiny house on the small farm! The space was just large enough to feel cozy, yet not constricting. It had everything you would need for a short stay (we stayed two nights). We enjoyed grilling while watching the amazing sunset on the lanai and watching the stars early in the morning. While staying here, we visited the Green Sand Beach and Honomalino Beach. I would give this tiny house a 10 star review if I could. I wish I could add pictures to my review as I grew really attached to the farm dog Ziggy! I think he loved us too! We would wake up to Ziggy at our door, ready for cuddles. Thanks mark!!

  • The Plumeria Cottage was fantastic for a stay with our small family. Sandy’s property is beyond gorgeous - lush and green, with plenty of privacy and a fabulous view from the cottage. Sandy was an excellent host - quick to reply to any of our questions and accessible for anything during our stay. The cottage itself was cute, very clean, and stocked with anything you need for a trip! Highly recommend staying here!

    Erin2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Sandy's place and wish we could have stayed longer. Captain Cook is a great jumping off point for the West side of the Big Island, this place is conveniently located about 2 miles from the Captain Cook snorkeling trail. Plumeria Cottage is located next to Sandy's main home but still felt private. It has wonderful views of the ocean and sunset. The place was spotless and tastefully decorated. The washer and dryer proved to be very helpful as well. Sandy provides beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, and snorkeling gear. Don't miss out on this wonderful spot!

  • The cottage is beautiful and in a quiet location with an amazing view of the ocean. We enjoyed the sunsets from the lanai. Sandy & Bruce take pride in their cottage. It's so clean and they include a lot of special touches to make your stay comfortable. Sandy was a gracious host and gave us helpful island tips. If you are looking to get away from the hustle of town this is your place. It's truly a piece of paradise!

  • This is a very sweet little cottage In a lush tropical setting with a lovely view of the ocean. The decor is very tasteful with thoughtful touches everywhere. The linens and towels were good quality and the place was clean as a whistle. Sandy and Bruce were very friendly, attentive hosts and made us feel very welcome. If we return to Hawaii, this is where we would stay again.

    Tara2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at this cottage! The property is beautiful and we loved meeting Sandy and her two adorable dogs. The cottage was extremely clean (I’m not sure how it is even possible to keep a house that clean in that type of climate!). There were all sorts of little extras: earplugs and flashlight by the bed, first aid kid and emergency info clearly posted, ziplocks/plastic wrap, beach towels/chairs/snorkel gear, and the list goes on and on. Sandy met us at check in and then let us have our privacy. We had a wonderful time and would definitely return.

  • Good little spot perfect little base camp for adventures. Skip big snorkel tours, rent a kayak from the two opperators at Manni beach (Ehu & Kai) very reasonable and only 5 min walk away. Getting in and out of the bay and in and out of the kayak much easier then anticipated. Would stay here again!

  • Fantastic location! Be aware of the many steps up, use handrail. Kai’s Dad helped us to get parked in proper space. The airflow through the top floor was great and we enjoyed the bird song in the morning. Very clean and plenty of room.

  • The equipment was complete except that it lacked some information to operate the devices: ex: television, we had trouble getting it to work. Then the breaker jumped when the toaster was operated and the coffee maker was operating; same thing for the kitchen light.

  • Hale Kai is the perfect launching and landing pad for Kealakekua Bay adventures. You're steps away from the precious community-run Manini Beach, which offers a small channel into the bay ... as well as all the kayak/SUP rental companies (we used Ehu & Kai, Adventures in Paradise). We rose before light each day to enjoy the reefs before the crowds arrive at 10am. The hale met all our needs, including a coffee grinder, small french press, and drip machine to enjoy your fresh Kona coffee. We also appreciated the small stereo system with a plug for your audio device. The bed was soft and comfy. Two futons provided a place to nap after long mornings on the water. Floor to ceiling screens line each end of the hale, which provide good air circulation (lots of fans of you need em). Trees and palms provide a tropical vibe and plenty of privacy. They're also a reminder that you're in the jungle ... and thus amidst all the creatures in it! Overall, we really enjoyed the old skool feel and enjoyed our short stay at the "little tin shack in Healakekua Bay, Hawaii." Mahalo!

  • This is the top floor of a little A frame. A sweet spot, walking distance to the beach park and kayak rental. Quiet little town, off the beaten path. Bring groceries to avoid a trip back up the hill.

  • We loved our stay here in Captain Cook. We loved being steps from the beach. The room was excellent We had no issues with our stay and would love to come back!

    Caroline2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place. So close to one of my favorite beaches on the big island. Kai was so helpful and made our stay easy and comfortable. Already planning my return trip!

    Rebeccah2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Location is awesome! Very close to kayak access to excellent snorkeling in the bay near Captain Cook monument. We rented a 2 person kayak right from a launch site just to the left of the bay from a company called Ehu & Kai. Also just a quick drive away from excellent snorkeling at two step.

  • We enjoyed our stay here and found it to be an excellent value. It is quiet and comfortable. It is accurately described on the website.

    Daniel2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous place in S. Kona! We love this lush tropical part of the island, close to some of our favorite places on this part of the island. This is a lovely space! Large, open and comfortable. Its quiet and peaceful. A great place to just hang out, or base yourself for Kona adventures! Ken and Myra are wonderful hosts, who have created a special place to call home on the Big Island. My wife and I have been coming to the Big Island every year for the last ten and have stayed at many places. This is one we will definitely be coming back to!

    Jerry2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent choice for a stay on the west side of Big Island! Ken and Myra’s place is perfect; spacious, attractive, fully equipped, clean, and well located. You simply can’t go wrong here. Location; Captain Cook is well positioned for all activities in the Kona area and close to those south of town. Ken’s place is very near groceries and an assortment of restaurants so you don’t have far to drive for necessities. Tip; try the fruit stand across the road from the Choice Mart. Comfort; Ken and Myra were friendly and hospitable. They were readily available (living upstairs), but careful to respect our privacy (we hardly knew they were there). The house is even nicer than it appears in the photos. The spacious layout is well designed, allowing plenty of options for sitting to enjoy the place and spectacular environment. The huge bed was comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied, spacious, and well organized. The ventilation was perfect to adjust for warm days and cool nights. Conveniences; everything imaginable in a BnB was provided. There were so many small touches that made it clear Ken and Myra give a lot of thought to the needs of their guests. There was even a set of snorkeling gear available; very good quality, not “loaner” gear. Basic consumables were numerous; kitchen and bath. Complete sets of towels, including beach towels, were provided. How can you beat perfection? We had a fabulous time.

    Tom2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is the largest Airbnb space we have ever had! The whole bottom floor of Kenneth's home was devoted to the rental and we were surprised at how large the space was, with a huge living room, a large open galley kitchen and a spacious bedroom. The large private lanai was a particular delight; at night the bird and frog calls were lovely and we stayed up late listening to them and enjoying the warm night air. Kenneth was very responsive as a host, though we were quite independent. We had 4 wonderful days driving around the Captain Cook area, exploring the great beaches and coast highway. The Bayview Coffee Company was close by, and touring there was another highlight. Kenneth provided supplies for coffee, and a great selection of drinks greeted us in the fridge when we arrived. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware and some basic cooking supplies. We would highly recommend this place and hope to come back with our grown kids next time!

    Carlin2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth’s place is located right in Captain Cook but very private. Surrounded by vegetation and lots of glass windows which create an open feeling. The living area is spacious and very attractive, the bed comfortable and the kitchen nicely equipped. Ken and Myra are helpful and personable and want to make sure their guests have what they need. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

    Karen2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for 11 days . Everything was as described. Great location cool at night making comfortable sleeping and warm at day. Close to many great snorkeling sites . Waling distance to local Choice Mart for most shopping needs . Walking distance to locale restaurants and hotel. That being said best to have a rental car for this location to get to many of the other sites like beaches , down town sites and attractions . While staying most locations we visited including 5 star beaches were no more than 1 and 1/2 hours away and most less than 1 hour driving . Approx 1/2 hour to the down town area a must visit. Ken and his Wife were very helpful with anything we needed and quick to respond to any of our needs all being met with in 30 mins . Kenneth's place is very spacious with plenty of seating in living room area with full dinning area for a setting of four . Kitchen is well setup for all cooking needs , we cooked eight out of our 11 nights and all appliances worked great. Bedroom is also very spacious and well laid out with the Queen bed being very comfortable . Bathroom Has a Huge whirlpool tub that we used a couple of nights. His and hers sinks making getting ready much faster getting out to enjoy the most of every day! If I had to give points for things to take note of that would be to take ear plugs as the night sounds are there all night FROGS are with you every night . After the first night we had no problem adjusting to them but for some this could pose a problem so worth mentioning . We found them soothing and closing all windows worked well with us . Cheap set of ear plugs would do the trick ! We love to BBQ and there is none at this location however a small George Foreman grill is provided. With all this said we would definitely recommend this place to others and when returning will consider staying again. Big Thank You goes out to Ken and his Wife for making our first visit to Hawaii the BEST !!

  • Nice place, although owner lives above, I still had privacy.

    Andres2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great apartment with a superior host. Very close to the best snorkeling spots and good access to Kailua-Kona and the airport. For two people the apartment is spacious. It is also fully equipped. Ken and Myra are very gracious and helpful without being obtrusive. Highly recommended.

NO SECURITY DEPOSIT. $25 CLEANING FEE. 14.25% Hotel tax collected after check in. Private 17x18' studio with a full bath and King bed w/kitchenette. Our "Goldilocks" elevation means we don't need A/C or Heating, (higher up would require heating and any lower would require A/C) Yes! There will geckos! They eat all types of bugs. They have quite the personality and love papaya! It's the perfect base camp to call home, while you explore Hawaii. Google mesh wifi with great coverage.
Our location is a actually quite easy to find... we are 12 miles south of "The Coffee Shack" in Captain Cook (A must stop!--the views, geckos, coffee and food!) on the Belt highway, which circles the island( Mamalahoa Hwy.) While AirB&B software usually blocks out our address till you book; Your turn off from the Mamalahoa is Kaohe Rd, from there, we are at the very south end of "B..." street.(Streets names are in alphabetical order) We have a double size lot and we are mostly surrounded by nature. Get ready for an adventure!
Please don't tell anyone how lovely our Black Pebble Beach is at the bottom of the street. We don't want all the tourists here! Keep it private. There are nice hikes going north, and south, from Black Pebble Beach. To the south, there is a path along the coast to a volcanic cindercone (access the path beachside, right in front of the south-most beach front house). To the north, there is a winding path that takes you to a secluded little beach with lots of green sand (Olivine--the same material that makes up the green sand beach-on your way to the volcano) mixed in with the black sand. You can access the big lava flow that you can see from above.
  • Very nice place, The host was very friendly and reagent, the house was clean, and we got nice equipment at disposition for snorkeling, BBQ. All we need, recommendation.

  • This studio apartment was just as described. Excellent value and location. Being at the end of the street made for a quiet and relaxing stay. Coffee on the balcony in the morning was an added bonus! The host was helpful and prompt in all responses.

  • Mark’s place was beautiful and very comfortable. Beautiful view from the windows and porch, super quiet at night, gorgeous stargazing. Very easy and smooth communication and check in and check out process. I enjoyed 2 restful nights there, and would stay again.

    Marguerite2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and perfect! We loved the view, the cozy apartment, everything. Adam was very helpful. We would definitely stay again here and recommend it to our friends!

    Kira Kristina2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Mark's place. It was very clean. Both Mark and Adam were prompt and responsive in their communications with us. Mark's suggested places to go were great. As there were not guests immediately after us, Adam was very accommodating in allowing us a late check-out.

    Debbie2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Mark is one of those hosts you can only wish for when you wake up in the morning in a place which you only saw in the dark the night before. He is helpfull with tons of (local) tips of the big island and is very friendly and welcoming. There are a lot of free things available like: snorkelgear, beachtowels, beachchairs etc. The bed in the seperate house we were in was massive and everything was clean. Sunsets are amazing from the balcony!! 10 out of 10 for our stay here:-D

    Casper2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Mark's place is a real treasure. My husband and I spent five nights in this studio and had a lovely time. The location is great if you're looking to escape the crowds. The views of the sunset from the balcony were amazing! The communication was very prompt too. The studio has all amenities you'll need. Additionally with filter water and snorkeling equipment provided we saved a lot of money too!

Panoramic ocean views from the entire charming cottage on 5 acres! Unobstructed ocean view sunsets every night from private screened in patio. Direct cable TV in bedroom and living room. Situated in between several Kona coffee farms. This lovely little gem is a jewel to behold. Come stay on a Gentleman's Farm with avocado, limes, pineapple, banana, papaya, coffee, palms. Great location with easy access. Near several beaches with swimming, snorkeling, diving, make this an amazing stay!
  • Lena's place was a great location to explore the west and south side of the island and the near by beaches. Very comfortable bed and the hot tub was an added bonus to watch the sun sets.

    Libby2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, off the beaten path. Views were beyond incredible. Sprawling ocean view that seemed to go on forever. Hosts home and glamping spot is on the property but it was still private. Wish we could have stayed another night.

    Katie2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting with ocean view. A little rustic but quite comfortable. Lena was very attentive.

    Karen2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Little compound with host’s residence this cute rental and a glamping sure below. What a view and awesome hot tub!! We loved it all around! Close to City of Refuge, one of my fav spots to take friends and family when they come visit me here on the island! Will likely be back to this little gem!

    Ziska2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lena's place is truly peaceful and happy! A note to check out Peeble Beech early in your stay. It is amazing and I suspect a "hidden gem" for locals. It will be sunny when/if rainy at the cabin. Plenty of shade available too. Picnic tables close by. Enjoy

    Sandra2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Lena! We booked the same day and were able to check in very late which was appreciated! Definitely recommend staying here.

    Gabriela2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended for somebody who wants to explore the area. Lots of great stops on the way to Kona to start your mornings: cafes, fruit stands and local sites. The space was very clean, spacious and dreamy. A unique magical experience for a cabin stay!

    Kylian2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lena’s home is so beautiful. We stayed here for two nights over New Years, and had such a wonderful and peaceful time. The views are a dream, and the patio is a great place to hang out and watch the sunset. Her home is spotless, comfortable and very original. Lena was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and her outdoor kitten was adorable. The outdoor bamboo shower was by far our favorite part, it made us feel like we were at a spa. The space is about 30 minutes out of Kona, an easy drive to town, while also so much more relaxing. Thank you so much Lena!

We are located in a rural, tropical agricultural zone in the heart of Kona coffee and tropical fruit farmlands. With very little disturbance from light and with the wide view of the sky, viewing stars or watching the moon rise over the mountain and set over the ocean is amazing. Our area has access to beautiful beaches, hikes, snorkeling, and is near the Puʻuhonua o Hoʻnaunau National Park. We also encourage guests to visit our local restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. There are the typical day time sounds of an active, working farm with operating farm equipment, processing of agricultural products, and often hold educational tours/workshops. The night time is also active with the sounds of cocqui frogs, roosters, and other farm animals from neighboring farms.
  • We had an amazing time at the cozy tea house. The farm is beautiful and has amazing amenities. We would recommend this place to anyone.

  • Very friendly hosts, fun property full of fruits and animals. Recommended!

    Eli2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such an incredible stay!! From the farm fresh fruit breakfast every am, to the outdoor shower (skeptical about this prior, but loved it instantly) , to the total privacy and seclusion in nature (birds, flowers, greenery) , this place was one of our highlights of our 3 week trip through the islands. The space is a lot bigger than expected, we did our morning yoga inside and had ample space for 2 adults to do so. The bed is comfortable, and large. Angela, was extremely helpful, and explained clearly how to enjoy this off the grid space to its fullest. Of note, it is very accessible, just 1-2 minutes off the main road, but you feel very secluded. Would recommend 100%, and hopefully will be able to be back again for a visit!

    Julian2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay and enjoy the sunset views that are unique. The tea house was our favorite stay here in big island by far. We absolutely recommend it!!

  • We had a thoroughly lovely and relaxing week at Honaunau Farm Wellness Retreat. We stayed in the Tea House and it was well suited for us. Our host was extremely helpful, accommodating and easy to reach. We enjoyed access to the yoga room and their generosity with produce from the farm was an extra treat. We definitely recommend and will return on our next trip to the big island.

HALE GEDIMINAS vacation rental is in a lush tropical setting on sunny Kona Coast. Spectacular sunsets on private lanai with ocean view overlooking Ili-Ili beach, which is 5 min down by car. The unit is studio like with private entrance.
The unit is studio like with private entrance, has a queen-size bed, bathroom, outdoor kitchen includes refrigerator, microwave, sink, gas grill with burner for cooking, grill could be used for baking (lasagna, casserole and stuff like that).
We are located in the middle of all the Kona side attractions, between Kailua Kona and Volcano National Park. Nearby are PU'UHONUA O HONAUNAU National Historical park and famous “Two Step” for great reef snorkeling; Kealakekua bay Underwater Coral Reef State Park, historical place where Captain Cook first sailed into Hawaii; and nearby Hookena Beach Park, also great for swimming and snorkeling and dolphins watching.
  • We absolutely loved the backyard garden space while we cooked our meals in the outdoor kitchen area and relaxed at the end of the day. August was very helpful in giving us advice on places to visit in the area. There is a local beach down from here but we were hesitant to make the steep trek down with our car. August and Davia provide beach towels, umbrella and chairs along with ice packs and a cooler for time on the beach. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Anita2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A very unique and beautiful place to stay - the studio plus the incredible hosts and as well Heyyou (the cat) - not to forget - makes the whole stay a very nice and special time for us. Wow. Mahalo and Aloha. (Didn‘t have experienced anything amazing like that while traveling the last three month). Thanks August and Daiva.

  • Highly recommend this lovely and thoughtful spot. It's got everything you need to cook for yourselves, a very nice view of the ocean and tons of information from guides and the hosts themselves. The hosts are also a very lovely and welcoming. We would book the same place over and over again.

  • These guys and their cat are so sweet! Incredible veranda view, fresh fruit & they took such good care of us. 👌

    Cassandra2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed six nights in this absolutely gorgeous suite and would have loved to stay forever! August and Daiva are incredibly lovely hosts who express with little details like their guest's flag in the driveway, a drink in the fridge and a lei on the pillow: we're glad you're with us! Her hospitality is incredible, and her home is an absolute dream. I enjoyed every sunset with a view over this paradisiac garden. There is nothing that does not exist at August & Daiva. I got great things for the beach provided, great tips to discover the area. The suite is equipped with everything you need, the bed is super comfortable and the outdoor kitchen is just the fun par excellence. Should I have the opportunity for another trip to Big Island, I will definitely book again at Daiva & August!

Current activity at the summit of Kilauea has nearly stopped, and Volcanoes National Park has reopened! As a result, all of the Big Island is virtually vog-free. We have beautiful Blue skies. You get the entire guesthouse on family property. Quiet, private, safe. Millions of stars at night. Great location at South end of Big Island. At 3400 ft; perfect temperature to sleep after hot days sightseeing! Outdoor Kitchen! Freezer space available if needed. Updated wifi.
One Bedroom, 1 bath guesthouse, King size bed in bedroom, with a queen-size down fold-out in the front room. Approximately 12 miles from South Point turn off, with easy drives to Volcano, Hilo, Captain Cook, Kealekekua Bay, Hononaunau/Place of Refuge, or Kona. Very private and quiet, There are many things to do within driving distance: Green sand beach, Southpoint, Captain Cook, Black Sand Beach, snorkeling, Two-step Beach, and many more. We do provide basic snorkeling gear. Drinking water will be provided at no extra cost to you. Outdoor kitchen with small refrigerator, freezer space available if needed, microwave, hotplate, electric skillet, pots and pans, coffee pot, outdoor deep sink, outdoor sitting area, and comfortable patio. There are two horses on the property. The house is at 3400 ft, so it is much cooler than many places on the island.
Very quiet in our area. So quiet at night we provide a fan for white noise if necessary. We also provide extra blankets and a small space heater, as we find that people underestimate the overnight temperature and tend to get cold in the winter. If the sky is clear, as it usually is at night, you can see billions of stars. Since the vog has finally cleared, the nights are absolutely beautiful.
  • Very comfortable space in a quiet corner of Ocean View. It was a very good value and, as others have commented, it was nice to see horses in the morning!

    Nick2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great host! Walked me around the house to check me in, which was nice. I would come here again. Just know that it is on the colder side at night, which is listed in the posting as well!

    Courtney2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great, quiet little place to stay "off the beaten path". Comfortable home, ample parking and privacy on property. The outdoor "partial" kitchen leaves some to be desired when trying to cook a meal, but works much better than nothing. I would for sure recommend staying here!

    Jana2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a treat! There's no better value and you get to wake up and pet a horse!

    Travis2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Sherenes place. Good price for what you get, real soft bed and a fridge with some basics. Sherene and her husband were lovely people to talk to.

    Henricus2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect, and at an unreal price. It’s not super close to the airport but it’s in a much more beautiful spot on the island, in my opinion (and very close to a lot of coffee shops with amazing local coffee!). On clear nights you can see the Milky Way from outside the guesthouse! The hosts were amazing and gave us great tips on where to snorkel, plus they provided us with snorkeling equipment and boogie boards! The guest house was a great size and very clean. If we ever come back to Hawaii I will immediately see if this place is available before looking for any other places; it was that good.

    Sydney2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Dixieland for a week in Jan 2o2o with my brother. Two big queen beds, shower with plenty of hot water, and almost a full kitchen (just missing an oven but it wasn’t really needed as there is a bbq as well), made it a very comfy stay. The 2 horses are gorgeous friendly creatures and the property is quiet and peaceful. Plenty of amenities, Cable TV/towels/linens, we even used their good quality snorkel gear and boogie boards for the beach. Something to know is that the water is not potable (cannot drink it safely), so buy a couple jugs of water at the store and after you drink it you can just refill them up at any beach park at the water fountains. The weather wasn’t the greatest while we were in Big Island (worst weather in years according to locals- just our luck!), so we would have liked access to a washer/dryer, however it wasn’t really an issue, just a preference. The only thing that was not even an issue was that the breakers blew a few times as we had too many things plugged in (so you just have to unplug some stuff and switch it back on from outside, but we were warned of this before hand by the kind hosts). Sherene and her husband showed us everything we needed to know and then gave us plenty of privacy so it was like we had our own little country house for a week. I definitely recommend this property, especially if you are staying for a while on Big Island. The drive around the Hawaii Belt Rd is just amazing and we didn’t mind driving those quaint and winding roads ever day, stopping at local spots along the way.

We are 5 min drive to Kealakekua Bay and close to best snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, National Park, coffee tours and more! 10 min drive to grocery store, post office, gas station, laundry washerette, eateries, farmers market, fruit stands, local craft vendors. Prime location great weather calmer ocean, ideal location to explore island! Kitchenette (microwave, toaster oven, Nuwave Cook top, elec griddle, coffee maker, sink, mini frig.) BBQ for cooking. 2 friendly dogs. Farm has chickens & frogs.
This affordable private studio is in back of house shaded under upstairs overhang with indirect sunlight which keeps cooler on hot days! Private entrance with kitchenette, private bathroom with big shower for 2.
  • The place was great. Just what we were expecting. Private, safe and secluded. We added two nights at the beginning of a planned trip and spent the days exploring the Kealeakua Bay/Captain Cook Bay Area. Did the monument hike (take lots of water, lots). Carolyn was great. Met us when we arrived and gave us the lay of the land. (It was our second trip to the Big Island, so we knew the basics). Meets expectations. Highly recommended. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Mahalo. Ethan and Rebecca

  • Cozy, comfy, and a great host!

    Tristan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here! Really a fantastic location very close to the Captain Cook trail, Two-Step and Ho'okena beach. Not too far from Kona town and Carolyn was very helpful with giving us tips for things to do! Thank you for everything!

  • This little apartment had everything we needed. We like to cook at home, and the kitchen had all the things necessary for us to make all our meals. The shower was very nice, but just give the water a second to heat up and you’re golden. We used the little grill outside to cook some salmon from the farmer market and it was great! The bed is fairly firm which we weren’t used to, but it was spacious. After exploring all day we spent our evenings relaxing in the little gazebo in the front yard. It was a lovely place and Chris and Carolyn were very nice to chat with.

  • Great studio! This was a really pretty little place and Chris and Carolyn are super nice.

    Drew2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was an ideal experience for us as a couple and we would absolutely stay again. It is a few frills studio with a great kitchenette and a clean bathroom. It is located in a beautiful quiet secluded place surrounded by greenery. We loved the proximity to stores and the beach as well as being a bit out of the way. It’s a very different experience than going to one of the big resorts and honestly, I prefer this. You have easy access to your vehicle and close access to a number of beautiful coastal spots. There is no TV which wasn’t a problem in this era of devices, but there was great WiFi. I would absolutely stay here again and had a wonderful time.

  • I love this place, have stayed twice now and definitely will again!

    Megan2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay! It's a short drive to great snorkeling at two-step and restaurants. Chris and Carolyn even offered me avocados and a lemon from the the yard.

Laid back, retro-inspired and uber comfy, this unique place is perfect for those seeking a stylish, authentic Hawaiian experience. 20 min from Kona Town, the slow pace of South Kona gives you that much needed retreat. Deliciously warm breezes blow through your screened-in living space. Vinyl records, a classic cruiser and that shade of blue which perfectly matches the ocean water you'll be swimming in, gives you all the beach vibes you've been craving.
You deserve for your vacation to be blissful. You seek a place of rest, relaxation and something memorable. With this in mind, we love doing the little extras to make you feel special. Our goal is to exceed your expectations by providing an impeccably clean and comfortable nest at an excellent value that satisfies all your senses. SEE Nearly all the furnishings, bedding, kitchen appliances and dishes are brand spankin' new and artfully designed. You'll love the way the place looks, especially the ocean and garden views in the main living space. TOUCH We only provide high quality linens for our guests. The towels are extra plush, the duvet cover is linen and sheets are high thread count cotton, so your skin feels as pampered as the rest of you. TASTE We offer a garden of edible treats for your delight- bananas, lychee, starfruit, avocados, guava and more! We also provide coffee, tea and everything you need for cooking, including a BBQ! SMELL The smells of the garden and the non-toxic cleaning products we use, will delight you. HEAR We envision you relaxing in this space, listening to the scratchy cool sounds of vinyl coming out of your record player, which is also equipped with bluetooth connectivity for your phone. We also cater to business travelers who rely on high speed internet. We provide beach towels, reef safe sunscreen, beach toys and a travel guide to enhance your island fun! Warmest Aloha!
The neighborhood is where many tour companies bring their guests to enjoy Old Hawaii and sample coffee at the nearby farms. The area is supremely lush and beautiful. Our nest is located in the most stunning area of South Kona's scenic corridor. This area has been the heart of Kona for generations because it provides ideal growing conditions for coffee and many fruits with its sunny mornings and moderate rainfall. It is the most magical climate where you don't need air conditioning or a heater year round. Even the wild chickens and coqui frogs agree, South Kona is the place to be! The neighborhood is full of ALOHA found in awesome coffee shops (Menehune is our fav) and great places to eat, like the Coffee Shack, Rocco's Pizza, Loko Wraps, Annies Burgers and Junjira Fresh Thai! But our favorite thing about this place, besides all the good food, coffee, history, climate, beauty, critters, is the underwater world at our doorstep. "Two Step" is widely considered one of the world's premier snorkeling and dive sites. Free divers converge from all over the world to visit our waters. Tour companies from Kona pack people in boats to come to our local swimming spot. Staying here, you'll be a short drive to one of the best natural swimming holes in the world. There are loads of reefs teeming with colorful fish, turtles and a local pod of spinner dolphins! Occasionally, we even get a visit from some eagle and manta rays! We can't wait for your adventure of a lifetime in this pristine heaven on earth we call home!
  • Great value. Fantastic hosts. Lower level apartment but the upstairs noise was minimal during our stay. Captain Cook is a great location if you want to be close to Kona without being stuck in a tourist trap!

  • We stayed at the Blue Bliss for 3 nights. Beautiful, small, well-designed accommodation with a well-equipped kitchen. Beach towels were also available and if you wanted you could buy snorkeling equipment etc. borrow. Contact by Maria and Shaheer in advance very friendly and attentive as well as many tips during the stay.

    Sarah2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stop thinking about it and just book this place, you will not be disappointed. From the perfectly appointed (and stylish) kitchen to the comfortable open-air living room to the private bedroom and bathroom, Blue Bliss is one of the few Airbnb's that has exceeded my expectations. Walking in you can feel the love and attention that Maria and Shaheer put into this place. The location is relaxingly rural, yet close to all the amenities that you need, including plenty of beaches (the green sand beach is a must!), snorkeling locations and hiking trails. It truly is a wonderful place.

    Valerie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Everything we had hoped for. Blue Bliss is an adorable little getaway close to Kona, but far enough to get away from the hustle and bustle of tourist central. We especially loved the record collection (the perfect soundtrack to celebrate our 15th anniversary!) and the fresh fruit that we could grab and go every morning. Shaheer is so welcoming and kind -- from the first moment we arrived, we felt right at home. Mahalo.

  • this place was awesome, location was perfect and the accomodations were more than we expected. Maria & Shaheer made us feel welcome and like we were at home, I highly recommend this place for anyone.

  • Maria and Shaheer’s place was lovely! It felt super homey. Exceptionally clean. Maria and Shaheer were both very welcoming and friendly, they gave lots of tips for things to do locally. The fresh fruit was great too! Would definitely recommend staying here :)

    Stephanie2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Blue Bliss was a home away from home for us. We travelled with our little one, who had such a blast playing on the property. Maria & Shaheer made sure we knew all about the area, the things to see, had clear tips on finding their space, and were always quick to respond. The fruit trees made for such a great way to start the day (these bananas are something else!), there were beach toys available to borrow for the day, and the unit itself has a spacious kitchen, an ultra modern bedroom, and an incredible sunroom that made for great wind down time (be there when it rains! It’s so relaxing!) We could not have asked for a better experience on our first trip to the big island. Instead of feeling like guests, Maria & Shaheer made us feel like Ohana. We know exactly where we want to go when we come back to the big island! Mahalo!

    Josh2020-02-03T00:00:00Z

  • Our stay at Michael’s place was so wonderful! The hosts were very attentive to all of their guests. We enjoyed much time out at the lanai in the morning and evenings listening to the sounds of wildlife. We also spent some time in the hot tub beneath the stars followed by a rinse in the outdoor shower. The breakfast buffet, smoothies and banana brownie bars were delicious! The guests and vibe at this Airbnb were peaceful and welcoming. We would totally come back again ❤️

  • Nice place with a lovely view of the distant ocean and surroundings. Host was available on arrival, but sometimes difficult to find during our stay. They say to call them anytime, and provide cellphone numbers, but cell coverage is spotty on the premises, so that didn't work well for us. The outdoor showers were nice, but avoid using them around sunrise or sunset as the mosquitoes will accompany you in force. The hot tub was nice in the morning when it was cool out. The other guests seemed very happy, but on our trip we had already stayed in other places that were similar or nicer, but for a lower price. Maybe that feeling reduced our enjoyment factor in some way. Anyways, nice place, but maybe just not for us.

Perfect for sunsets! We had the honaunau room with seaview, which is highly recommended. The breakfast was also great, with fresh fruits and baked goods. Would like to stay here again!

  • We really enjoyed the Ocean View home, especially cocktails in the evening while watching the sun set over the Pacific. The location is ideal for exploring the south end of the Big Island including Volcanoes NP and South Point. The serenity, clear night skies, and absolute lack of noise make this home a real gem.

  • Ian and I really fell in love with this place in Ocean View. It was an amazing location to enjoy the south side of the island from. I particularly loved watching the sunrise each morning - it was truly breathtaking - the perfect spot to recharge and unplug from the fast pace of the world. Dining around there was quite limited, but if you don't mind driving 30mins to an hour to a more populated area with more options, you'll be fine; we made a thing of it. I especially suggest Annie's Burgers (I think in Captain Cook or just north). All in all, a great place to call home on vacation! Lisa communicated via text and email, but we never met and the handsoff-ness let us explore at our own pace.

    Julie Marie2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Good spot. Would stay again

    Will2019-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • Most mornings and evenings presented beautiful sunrises and sunsets as we enjoyed coffee and wine on the outside chairs overlooking the ocean. Lisa's home is beautifully designed and decorated with an incredibly well equipped kitchen. Though a native Hawaiian now living on Kauai had suggested Ocean View was out of the way before we arrived, it turns out it was centrally located for the activities we had planned - Kona Coffee Festival, Hawaii Volcanoes NP (including nearby Kahuku unit), Black Sand Beach. We did take a day to visit the Tsunami Museum and Japanese Garden in Hilo, which is almost a two hour drive. We were away during the days, but it was a joy to return in the evening to this beautiful home, and we hope everyone's stay at Lisa's is as relaxing as ours was.

    Richard2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa was an amazing host ! The location was kind of far from some places we wanted to explore but she gave us a list of beautiful spots that were within good distance for us ! I do recommend a rental car with unlimited mileage. It was an amazing experience overall. The quiet and privacy was ideal with some close eateries and markets. At the home there were many items we could use to cook at home & even small amenities like sunscreen, aloe, make up mirror, and more. Blessed to have had the opportunity to stay at this location.

    Chelsea2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our magical time on the Big Island couldn't have been more special due to Don and Lisa's home in the lava fields. This is not just a place to stay, a place to hang your hat - it's an experience within itself. Blissful solitude and silence broken only by the wind and occasional chirp of birds. Incredible views of the night sky while standing on a landscape that feels like the moon. It felt more like a destination within itself...an escape from the rest of the world - A place to replenish and renew. Thank you!

Located on the Big Island of Hawaii. Nestled on the flanks of Mauna Loa at 2800 ft., this multi-facetted 12-sided home awaits you. Sweeping views of the southern end of the Big Island of Hawaii. Beautifully designed & appointed home. A rural area located between Kona & Hilo. Note: A 14.25% State of Hawaii lodging tax is collected separately by the host. This is based on the cleaning fees and your total per night charges.
The house, location and the land - you may never be in a house quite like this again. This beautiful 12 sided house with redwood and cedar interior was built on primal lava land. It has strand woven bamboo floors and a 16' high dome ceiling with a 6' wide skylight for moon gazing at night or watching the clouds float by during the day. It is appointed with delightful beds (queen size) and furnishings.
Beautiful and rugged lava land containing both pahoehoe and aa flows. There is a rugged energy and beauty to the land. This area of Hawaii is very rural and away from the resorts and environment of Kona and Hilo. We are located in the country. Very quiet here. Except for the local bar, most businesses close up around 9 or 10pm. As far as the topography and vegetation in and around Ocean View, refer to the pictures. Especially #'s 26, 29 and 30. Those pictures will give you an idea. But like most of Hawaii, in a half an hour, you are in something totally different! We are located about 1 1/2 hours from both Kona and Hilo International Airports. Not a lot of neighbors. The town of Ocean View is minutes away. Three markets, three gas stations, breakfast and lunch places, pizza parlor, hardware store, bar and restaurant, a great new Thai restaurant (take out),post office, gift shop, second hand store and hair salon. The laundromat (South Point Suds) is located downtown next to the Malama Market. They offer a drop off service if you do not want to stay and do your own laundry. They are open 8-6 for drop off. The cost is $1.50 per pound with a minimum of $15. Also there is a great breakfast place (Coffee Grinds) right next to the post office downtown. Check out Kula Kai Caverns. 1000 year old lava tubes just a few minutes away! Call first as they offer guided tours. Biggest lava tubes on the island.

  • The Aries tent is nothing short of amazing. The space feels larger than it truly is because of the well executed and thoughtful layout. The divider screen creates a nice changing area and has a functional sink. The bed and futon were ample in size and had plenty of extra blankets to keep us warm on the cool mornings. If you see the bathroom facilities and feel nervous about them, don’t be. The space feels private while also feeling open. One of the individuals on the farm was kind enough to share with us the experience of how the lava rock walls were constructed and how the rock was sourced. The shower has ample hot water and frankly was one of our favorite parts of the stay. The farm is alive with the noises of nature. There are many tagged rescued and re-homed boars on the farm as well as sheep, cows, and horses. Most of the boars are friendly and provide a surprising amount of entertainment for guests. The sounds of turkeys, coqui frogs, and song birds fill the ranch. The kitchen area a spacious and well stocked. Our last evening we grilled pineapple, steaks, and pork chops outdoors and enjoyed a meal with rice in the kitchen. Truly a place that feels isolated yet full of life. A place i can say felt like home. I can not recommend this ranch enough. Although I stayed in Aries all of the tents and domes looked just stunning. Rose’s directions to get to the tents are impeccable. The drive back through the land was incredible. We got to see plenty of Hawaiian agriculture, wild life, and the vibrant cultures that make the island one of the most beautiful places in the world. I would absolutely stay again at the tent. We had electricity and water in the tent, plenty of space, privacy, and a full kitchen just a short walk from the tent. While we were there it was cloudy but it was clear when we left at 3am that the night sky was one to write home about. Loved every bit of this stay.

  • We love this glamping tent in a beautiful setting high up on the mountain. A fascinating contrast from the bustle of kona and new perspective on Hualalai. Beautiful Ohia forest going up to the farm. Our baby enjoyed interacting with kittens and baby lambs. The stars are incredible. It was chilly for us and cloudy at first but cleared up over the evening and we snuggled up in covers to watch. Beds were comfy and we all loved the hot outdoor shower. The communal kitchen is a nice touch. We plan to bring visitors to Hawaii here in the future so they can enjoy this peaceful place and unbeatable star view.

  • Our cathedral tent was spacious, and charming with big comfy bed. Animals galore, wide open spaces, big sky and peace. We were happy to return to this retreat after a day of exploring . Waking up there and starting our day there was a treat!

  • Rose’s place was a wonderful place to stay - I would love to go back! Rose was quick to respond to messages, gave clear directions and lots of good tips and the manager Kuna was very warm and friendly explained everything clearly. Bed was super comfy, and there are beautiful views. And if you like outdoor showers this is the place for you! Just a great place to stay.

  • Great way to introduce yourself to glamping. All the amenities you need to feel comfortable with the experience of being outdoors and to disconnect. The tent is very spacious. Very inviting and cozy with all the blankets you need to stay warm if you visit during colder weather like mine. If you need anything more it’s likely available in the house. Rose and everyone on the property were welcoming and helpful. Do pack warm clothing for night and early morning run to the restroom. You’ll Thank yourself for it. Bring plastic flip flops for the shower. It has a real flushing toilet. The drive up. Follow Rose’s direction and you’ll be fine. I do suggest getting SUV type vehicle 1) way more fun. 2) you can get an economy car but it’ll put it through some work if not careful. The main road is right when you exit the ranch. Going from tent to main road is a good 15 minutes. The view. Gorgeous. Such a great surprise. Especially after a rainy day. You must check out the deck at the house. If there are clouds in the sky, you will be in for a treat. Just outside the tent, if you appreciate farm life then this is for you. So many things to observe and soak in. Some animals are free roaming which in itself was entertaining especially to someone from the city. But all were kept in a comfortable distance from each other and to humans. Try to wake up for the stars. Worth it. Location. All outdoor activities are close by. You really don’t need to go far. Always have the snorkeling gear with you. Keep the tennies and hiking shoes in the car just in case also. (Huge tip.) Everything pretty much closes between 6-8pm. Plan accordingly for meals. This is good for first time campers and families. Follow the house rules and everything will be cake. I would definitely come visit again.

  • We have stayed here twice now! A beautiful property that is not only unique but comfortable. And nothing quite beats playing with kittens and baby goats!

The Pineapple Express is a 500 square foot, one bedroom, one bath home with ocean views, a private hot tub, tropical decor, and landscaped with tropical foliage. Milolii is a rural community and is quiet and peaceful. Some of the things with love about Milolii are the ocean views, the trade wind breezes, the stars on clear nights, and the sunsets just to name a few. The hike to the nearby beach, Honomalino is great, and is a beautiful secluded beach (3 mile drive, then a 20 minute hike). It is approximately 14 miles to the nearest amenities. The home is located at a 800 foot elevation so the ocean views in this neighborhood are phenomenal. You would need to drive to the beach or shore. There are no stores, or restaurants in Milolii.
  • the place is sparkling clean, nice jacuzzi, has a full size kitchen but no dish washer. The BBQ gas was running low and the caretaker took care of it within 15 min. really beautiful garden

  • A gem of a holiday property. A well designed little house that has everything you need, set in a quiet, private neighborhood. The attention to maintenance of the grounds and the details of the furnishings was obvious. We really enjoyed it, and would try to rent again if we stay in this part of Hawaii.

  • We loved staying at the Pineapple Express for the last four nights of our vacation. We took Albert's advice and shopped in Kona before arriving - and then we enjoyed all of our meals in our little home away from home. I walked to the beach along the trail (18 minutes for me) one afternoon and was the only one there! Depending on when you go, there is one short area where you might get your shoes wet. The bed was comfortable, we were not bothered by mosquitoes, and the air was cool at night for sleeping. One particular delight for me was that the drinking water at the Pineapple Express was absolutely wonderful. It was a surprising change from the water that I drank in the Kona area. ( I do not like to drink from single use plastic water bottles, so I drank the water in Kona. But I found myself avoiding it.) At the Pineapple Express, I swooned over a simple glass of water. So I suggest that when you head to Pineapple Express, plan on saving a bit of money and making a small dent to help save the planet by leaving that case of single use water bottles on the shelf at Costco.

  • We had a fantastic stay at the Pineapple Express. The setting is gorgeous with lush tropical plantings and the home itself is beautiful and well-built. The hot tub was a great place to relax. It was so quiet and peaceful. The location is further away from Kona so expect to do some driving. We are used to driving without streetlights on winding roads so didnt't feel like we had to get home before dark, though this is something to be aware of if you plan to be out late. The locals are friendly, there is local produce to buy from roadside stands and nice touches like snoreling equipment, beach chairs and suncscreen were provided.

  • Great place!!! We really enjoyed it. The best parts were the hot tub, plush garden scenery and the quiet neighborhood. Albert and Marsal are great hosts and very responsive.
