The Field House sits on the edge of a hayfield just outside Fort Augustus. It is a warm and intimate space, with a living and dining area with spectacular views of the fields and hills, an ensuite shower room, a galley kitchen and two single beds in the loft. The decking is frequented by game birds, hares and owls, and highland cattle graze in the neighbouring field. Fort Augustus and Loch Ness are a short walk away, and the house is perfectly located for exploring the highlands further afield.
A unique space, formally a hay shed, then an art gallery, constructed from trees felled in local woods by the owner and milled on the farm.
Fort Augustus is a friendly village with a fascinating history.
  • This was such an amazing stay! Olivia and her husband we above and beyond to help us - even picking us up in Inverness because we wouldn’t make the last bus. The place was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Such a gorgeous little place. Highly recommend anyone stay here who wants peace and quiet.

  • Great place to stay while visiting Loch Ness and the surrounding area. Lovely home with great facilities and views. Excellent communication and response times were top drawer. Biscuits were there for us arriving which was a nice touch. Lots of tips on local places to visit and eat. We had a problem with the hot tub which we reported late on the Saturday night around 10.30 and got a response straight back and the issue was fixed first thing the next morning before we had even got up. Highly recommended and will be back in the future.

    Keith2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views, stayed here as two couples when storm Ciara hit and it was still lovely in the hot tub! Would recommend a visit, hoping to return in the future.

    Daniel2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge was beautifully clean and comfortable and larger then we imagined from the photos. It had everything we could need during our stay and is ideally located between loch Ness and Glencoe. We had a lovely stay here and would definitely stay again.

    Hannah2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gary’s place was perfect! My partner and I stayed for five days and explored the local area. The lodge was surrounded by beautiful views of the loch and had nice trails right behind it. It was about 20 minutes away from a grocery store and had a perfect kitchen to cook in for our stay. And the hot tub was a wonderful touch! We used it everyday and really loved having it there, especially since we stayed in the winter. Loved it! Would stay here again.

    Sofia2020-01-08T00:00:00Z

  • Very beautifully decorated house with a nice twin room and private bathroom and shower. Geraldine was very kind and helpful. Made me a breakfast in the morning, too. Room was very quiet at night, no problem getting a full night’s sleep.

    Ding2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay if you are walking the GGW. Basically on trail, and Geraldine offered the opportunity to have dinner at her place since there is no where else in the village to buy dinner. She and her husband are lovely, interesting people and the home is super cute. Very much my style, anyway!

    Mary2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Geraldine and Geoff were fantastic hosts and helped us enormously during our stay. Made us feel very welcome and the food was lovely! If there was a downside, it was the bunk bed but we know that it's now gone so will be perfect!

Lady Andorina offers unique accommodation on the Caledonian canal in the Highlands of Scotland, on the Great Glen Way at Laggan Locks near Invergarry, a short stroll from Loch Lochy and Loch Oich. We have 8 bunks in 4 cabins and moored next door you’ll find the Eagle barge floating pub serving great food and wine plus a range of real ales and over 70 different whiskies!
Lady Andorina offers the only accommodation moored quite literally on the Caledonian canal. The path next to our mooring forms part of the Great Glen Way. This makes her the perfect place to stay for walkers and cyclists, along with anyone looking for a unique place to stay in a stunning location.. Andorina is a 65 foot wooden ketch yacht built from mahogany and oak in 1951. She has 8 bunk beds and while she is by no means luxurious she’s warm, dry, has toilets and a kitchen and you’re sure of a warm Highlands welcome. All bedding is provided along with towels and a key to the nearby shower facilities. Andorina is moored next to the canal’s only floating pub, the Eagle Barge, and all our guests get a 10% discount! Eagle is open from April 5th to October 25th this year. BTW we love dogs on board as long as they’re dog (and human) friendly! Here's what people say about us... “If you want a unique experience when traveling the highlands, this is the place.” Tyler, USA “One of the greatest experiences of our Scotland Trip - fully recommended” Johannes, Netherlands “This place is the perfect spot for a group of friends to spend the weekend together sharing good food, laughter and enjoying walks in the breathtaking Great Glen.“ Rachel, Scotland “Really unique experience, and the boat has a great story behind it. Steve is very welcoming, open and helpful. Great place to sleep while going to highlands. Family friendly:)” Kasia, France
Lady Andorina is moored on the beautiful Caledonian canal in the Scottish Highlands. The Great Glen Way is quite literally on the doorstep. Next door we have the canal’s only floating pub, the Eagle barge, serving meals and dinner in the evenings (please note that bar meals don’t need to be booked but dinner is by reservation only, see the Eagle’s website for details...eaglebargeinn.weebly.com). The shores of Loch Lochy are a short stroll away and 20 minute walk along the canal will take you to Loch Oich. Elsewhere we’re a 10 minute drive from Fort Augustus and the western end of Loch Ness.

  • We were 5 friends spending a night into Steve's boat. This was really a nice experience ! The small living room is lovely and there even is a TV and a Bluetooth speaker. Some of the beds were quite small for tall people but as we were under 1m70 tall we fit in the bed. The location of this housing is really unique and amazing for a few nights. The bar/boat next door was really enjoyable too. I would highly recommend Steve's boat for anyone who looks for a different experience in a stunning location

  • Julie's place was fantastic. Breathtaking location and a beautiful home. The accommodation has everything a family might need and it was warm and snug in the middle of winter ! We loved the place - and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

  • Place is perfect if you want to escape and relax. House is in rural location, but not too far from town where you can find restaurants, coffee shops, local store ect. I would say location is perfect, you can go straight for walks/bike around, up hill, through forest and along the river Oich. It's about 1-2h walk to Fort Augustus, maybe 10min drive a car.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage. The place was super clean, welcoming, warm and cosy, all you want in this part of Scotland. We were a bit surprised not to find any salt, pepper or cooking oil in the kitchen and shower gel/soap in the shower. I would definitely book this place again!

Bramble Lodge is one of our single-storey 4-person cabins. It's located at Great Glen Lodges, which offer quality self-catering accommodation in a peaceful and scenic rural Highlands location on the Great Glen Way. Each of our rustic timber lodges directly overlooks Loch Lochy, so you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the lake and mountains from your front window. We own and run Great Glen Lodges, and we live on the property too.
***Special announcement: Bramble Lodge has just had a completely new bathroom with shower over bath installed! All our lodges also have new beds and high-quality pocket-sprung mattresses.*** Great Glen Lodges are in a really special and remote but accessible part of the Highlands, just near Loch Ness. The site is on the shore of Loch Lochy, which joins Loch Oich and Loch Ness via the Caledonian Canal. Bramble Lodge is rustic and built from full-timber Scandinavian pine logs. The single-storey interior offers a bit of retro-cosy to travellers who like peace, quiet, and something of times past. We're in a rural area with poor internet connectivity, so our lodges do not have wifi, but the mobile phone towers in the area give most guests a good 4G signal.
Great Glen Lodges are set in a spectacular and remote scenic location at the centre for outdoor activities in the United Kingdom. Nestled between Fort William and Fort Augustus—right on the Great Glen Way—our five timber lodges offer easy access to Highlands excitement or just a quiet spot to slow down and relax.
  • William and Brian’s place was sparkling clean and very well presented, with all the amenities for a relaxing stay in a beautiful location!

    Yenny2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I never expected the most beautiful of places in which we were to stay at Great Glen Lodges. Absolutely stunning scenery. The log cabin style of accommodation is highly suited to the outdoorsy atmosphere of the location. The hospitality of the owners is exemplary - excellent communication, shown around the cabin on arrival, lots of information on local places to see and even a home-made cake on arrival!!! Couldn't be happier.

  • Exactly as advertised. Our kids liked the shore of the loch to build dams and role-play being bandits. There are few easy hikes for kids nearby. Will is very friendly, quick and accomodating.

  • We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is perfect for a quiet stay at the loch. From there you can visit highlands finest. The owners are very friendly and gave us a very warm welcome.

  • Super helpful host. When we arrived, the sky are all dark. It’s also windy and raining. We went to the wrong house and couldn’t find the key. So we decided to call Alasdair. He answered really quick and come to help us. We’re really impressed. The place itself is really spacious and clean. The view also amazing. Would recommend this house.

  • My family and I had a wonderful Christmas at Innishail. There was plenty of room for everyone including extended family. The home was clean and the kitchen a winner with everything I needed to cook Christmas dinner. Spean Bridge also proved to be the perfect base with trips to the Isle of Skye, Loch Ness, and the ski slopes at Ben Nevis and Glencoe.

  • This is a brilliant space in a good location with clean and spacious rooms. With it being situated on the A82 it's really easy to get about, although any towns are at least a 30 minute drive. Alasdair was very quick and helpful with his responses to any questions we had.

  • We can’t recommend this homely Accomodation enough, warm welcoming, fully equipped, spacious, spotlessly clean very well presented house. The jacuzzi bath was a welcomed surprise and fantastic after a wet day sightseeing. As stated in other reviews if you reach the Great Glen hostel you have just passed it. It’s opposite the sign posted Forrest Lodge. We arrived in the darkness and missed the turn. The location is stunning, and within easy access routes to Loch Ness, Eilean Donan Castle and Skye, not to forget the closeness To Fort William Glenfinnan Viaduct. You will not be disappointed. This house very comfortably sleeps 6. We will definitely stay again when next visiting the area. Tip.. remember and bring provisions as there isn’t shops close by. Thank you Alasdair for a lovely 5 Star Stay!

  • This home was a great place for us to stay. We enjoyed the rural area! It was centrally located for our traveling needs! The home itself was modern, nicely furnished, spacious, and clean! The host had us use the car’s Sat Nav (gps) to locate the home. Unfortunately, our rental car’s Sat Nav did not work well in the small towns and rural areas where we have been traveling. We drove around in a big loop for quite some time. I finally stopped at a small gas station and luckily, the woman working there recognized the house from the paperwork I had printed out. She hand wrote a set of directions for me, and I drove right to it using her terrific map! All in all, it was a great place to stay!

  • House very spacious and well equipped in accordance with the description of the ad. Location closer to South Laggan than Spean Bridge, ideal to shine (Fort William 25 'by car and Portree on the Isle of Skye at 2h). We communicated by courier with Alisdair for entry.

Sit on the balcony of our newly renovated 2 bedroom lodge, nestled in the trees looking down on beautiful Loch Lochy whilst having breakfast before heading out to walk or cycle the Great Glen Way*, which goes through the site. In 3 hours (on foot) you’ll either be in Fort Augustus, where Loch Ness begins, or Spean Bridge, depending on whether you went left or right. If you make it to Fort William (about 22 miles on the Great Glen Way or about 40 minutes by car), you could hop aboard the Hogwarts Express following in Harry Potter’s footsteps over the famous Glenfinnan viaduct and on to Mallaig and still be back in time to lie relaxing in the luxurious hot tub whilst listening to the soothing sounds of a stream tumbling over the rocks. Too relaxed to cook? No problem. Take a 5 minute amble to the Eagle Barge, a floating pub which also does meals or drive 8 miles to Fort Augustus to The Bothy which sits next to the 3 staircase locks leading onto Loch Ness and enjoy a meal and a pint with the locals. For a special celebration book a table at Russell’s Restaurant at The Smiddy at Spean Bridge, 11miles away, for a fabulous meal in a romantic setting. Our lodge here has 2 double beds and the site doesn’t allow dogs so if you need a twin room or have a four legged friend, please look at our other lodge just a 10 minute drive away at the sister site, number 4 Invergarry Lodges, on Loch Oich. Lodge Details 2 double bedrooms with built-in wardrobes, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets. 1 with dressing table and stool. Bathroom with bath, over the bath shower, heated towel radiator, toilet, sink etc. Fully fitted and equipped kitchen (NB there in no dishwasher) Lounge diner with 2 double sofas, circular dining table and 4 chairs and patio doors onto the balcony.

  • Elaine was a wonderful host from start to finish. She lent my friend and I a riveting book, as well as access to DVDs and tv if we wished to watch a series or film. We were very lucky to be the only guests staying there, and got an upgrade to the double bedroom. Breakfast was delicious, accommodating vegan & vegetarian diets alike. In the morning she also gave us a lift into Fort Augustus. Would enjoy coming back!

We are Located just a stones throw away from the banks of Loch Oich. Our Lodge is situated at The Great Glen Water Park, Invergarry. We are only 7 miles form Fort Augustus, from where you can take a cruise on the waters of 'Loch Ness', and sail past the ruins of 'Uruquart castle'. We are also ideally placed on 'The Great Glen Way'. This route, which stretches a 118.5km coast to coast across the Highlands, links the main centres of Fort William and the regional capital of Inverness.
The Great Glen Way runs along the complete lengths of Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and the forests above Loch Ness, as well as along the towpath of the Caledonian Canal, an engineering marvel built by Thomas Telford that links these lochs and creates a through route from the western seaboard to the Moray Firth. Use the Lodge as a base to visit 'The Isle of Skye' (77 miles). You will travel through some rugged mountain scenery and past the Cluanie Inn a handy place for a spot of lunch. Further on towards Kyle of Lochalsh you will pass Eilean Donan castle, which is perhaps the most photographed of all the castles in Scotland. Once you reach Kyle of Lochalsh, you can access Skye via the road bridge. Skye is famous for its mountain ranges and is best visited on a clear day to get the best of the scenery.
At Fort Augustus (7 miles) there you can enjoy food at 'The Boathouse Lochside Restaurant' or the 'Bothy Restaurant and Bar'. Drumnadrochit is the village where the Loch Ness Centre is and that's worth seeing, even if it's the typical tourist thing to do. A boat trip on the loch itself is definately worth it! We are also only 32 miles from Fort William, which has an assortment of Large Supermarkets, Restaurants and Bars. The larger City of Inverness sits 44 miles from the Park in the opposite direction. The scope of things to see and do in Inverness will amaze and delight. Pack in all the city's highlights on a sightseeing bus tour, or wander through its streets and along its river banks to discover great museums, galleries and great shopping. Winter sports are a treat for visitors to Great Glen Water Park and you can enjoy some of the finest skiing in Europe at the nearby ski resorts and slopes.

Heather Lodge is one of our single-storey 4-person cabins. It’s located at Great Glen Lodges, which offer quality self-catering accommodation in a peaceful and scenic rural Highlands location on the Great Glen Way. Each of our rustic timber lodges directly overlooks Loch Lochy, so you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the lake and mountains from your front window. We own and run Great Glen Lodges, and we live on the property too.
***Special announcement: Heather Lodge has just had a completely new walk-in shower room (no bath) installed! Heather Lodge is rustic and built from full-timber Scandinavian pine logs.
  • Great location, great cabin and great cake. The cabin is exactly as described and super cosy with the heating on for arrival. Also received a lemon drizzle cake (seems to be customary from the other reviews) which was delicious and enjoyed through out the weekend. Got a fantastic welcome and tour of the cabin when I arrived , the kitchen has everything you need to cook breakfast/lunch/dinner and there are even a few dvds to keep you entertained in the evening or if the weather goes completely downhill. I would thoroughly recommend Great Glen Lodges to anyone as a great location to stay that is pretty central to a number of top spots in the Highlands. 5/5 - would recommend 110%.

  • Come for the tucked away location and incredible views over Loch Lochy and stay for the experience of feeding pine martens and watching the sunrise from the cozy lodge’s picture window. Compact and perfectly formed, the lodge was a fantastic place to come back to after all day exploring the staggering natural beauty of the Scottish highlands. Would definitely recommend!

  • As I told William, from the moment we arrived I could see why he is a super host! A home made lemon drizzle cake was waiting for us as a welcome treat but that was just one thing. The cabin was lovely, sparkling clean and perfectly organised. Everything you need for a self catering holiday. And above all, full list f character, cosy with brilliant undisturbed views of the loch! William was great with every little thing we forgot to bring! There was plenty of info and tips for things to do in the area. We really had a great time and we are going back first chance we get !Strongly recommended!

  • We had a great time in the cottage of William and Brian. The place is sublime, with a superb view of the lake. For those who like peace and want to relax, this is a great place. The communication with William and Brian went very well, they are responsive and available. We were greeted personally and were able to share a bit, in the true Airbnb spirit. The cottage is very well equipped, very clean and really very nice. I can only recommend 100% for nature lovers.

  • William and Brian we both very helpful and the lemon drizzle cake was amazing. The lodge was very clean and had everything and more that you need for self catering. wonderful scenery very relaxing and overlooking Lock Lochy. It is either perfect for fishermen or walkers. And if like us a wonderful place to stay on the way home after a long Lands End to John O'Groats plus nc500 road trip. William advised us we may get a pine marten visit if we put out some peanut butter and as luck would have it we had some. The pine marten visited us the first night and that was lovely. The birds were very entertaining as well. Highly recommend a stay here

  • Our stay at the Great Glen Lodges was absolutely wonderful! Apart from the fact we were incredibly lucky with regards to the weather, Will & Brian are super sweet and the best hosts! Accommodation was very tidy and clean and the view on the Loch was just stunning! Also loads of tips on where to go and what to do were available (we actually bagged our first Munro)! We cannot recommend this place enough, if you‘re in the area, you NEED to go! Thanks again for having us Will & Brian, it made our Scotland adventure really special! :)

  • Exactly as described on the website. This is a super place to holiday and your hosts are really super to do business with. No complaints at all.

  • Thank you both for a lovely stay at your chalet. The chalet was beautiful and we very much enjoyed the location. Perfect for walks and a steep climb up Beinn Bhan. Everything in the chalet was perfect and was super clean and tidy. Thanks again folks.

  • We had a great stay here! Will and Brian were great hosts and had some great tipps for us. The surrounding area is just beautiful! In the living room is a great panorama window which offers a great view on Loch Lochy. The rooms are cozy but might be a bit loud for some groups since the walls (inside) are pretty thin and not isolated. Other then that the lodge has really everything you need!

    Dennis2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic 3-night stay at the lodges. William went the extra mile in so many ways and was friendly and helpful on every occasion. There was a delicious home-baked cake to welcome us. The lodge is small and cosy for five people and not particularly soundproof. But it was very clean, the bathroom top of the range and the views from the lounge and upstairs bedroom spectacular. We were delighted with a visit from a pine martin. The location is idyllic and rural, with fabulous walks on the doorstep and it is in easy driving distance of many outstanding day trips (Skye, Glencoe, Dalwhinnie Distillery, Glenfinnan viaduct, Mallaig and Arisaig etc etc). Loch Ness itself and Fort Augustus are twenty minutes drive from the house.

  • Wonderful

  • A magical location with fantastic views and munroes on the doorstep. Particularly enjoyed the daily visit from pine martens, the local walks and dinner on the Eagle Barge.

  • Only tip I would have for people staying here is make sure you do your shopping before coming as there aren't really any shops near. But that's what we loved about the place. Lovely and peaceful, right on the Loch and a great place to explore from.

    Jay2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a thoroughly wonderful time at the rustic, yet cozy cabin. Waking up in the morning and hearing the loch below was magical, as was star gazing at night. The location was perfect for our family to explore the Great Glen Way and beyond. Definitely highly recommend.

  • Perfect stay in this cabin lost at the end of a dead end road in the middle of nature and on the edge of the loch. William is a caring and considerate host. The cabin was very clean and the beds nice. The situation for the exploitation of the glencoe corner at Loch Ness is perfect. A guide written by Will allows you to find everything you need in the area.

  • William and Brian are extra hospitable. They are very helpful, kind and well prepared for every situation. The lodge itself was very comfortable and beautifully located. We spent a great time there in a very peaceful, relaxing and pleasant circumstances. Despite the fact there were couple of lodges, we had a lot of privacy. We highly recommend staying at William’s and Brian’s place.
