  • We came for a girls weekend of peace away and had a fabulous time. The hot tub was well used- worth setting an early alarm to watch the sun rise from the tub. We have both said we will be back :-) Lucy & Louise

  • An absolutely amazing break with quirky good vibes. Perfectly set in the middle of nowhere the perfect get away from reality. Plenty of local villages and the national park not too far away. The bluebird penthouse was everything I could of imagined. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we cant wait to return.

  • The most magical place EVER. We expected the Bluebird Penthouse to be a beautiful, tranquil place when we booked it and saw the pictures, however they do it no justice - the whole is the epitome of beauty and relaxation. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing weekend away this is THE place. The caravan itself has everything you need and more, and has a perfect full size bathroom including a lush, deep bath and 2 radiators which keep it lovely and warm and space for your towels (which are provided!). The bed is unbelievably comfy and quite large - there are plenty of plugs around the bed to charge your phone etc. The place is absolutely flawless and we literally felt at home there from the second we arrived. We loved how everything was so well considered such as little booklets and notes holding plenty of tips and info about where to go/ eat / see and we wish the weather was a little better so we could of sat outside and had a BBQ! The outdoor area is beautiful with a little table and comfy chairs to relax in and then a little table with 2 chairs which would be great for meals outside !! We will definitely be returning but hopefully for longer than a weekend next time 🤗

  • This place is so much fun! The views from the penthouse are incredible and the Land Rover hot tub is a fantastic feature. We will definitely recommend this place to friends looking for a relaxing break.

  • Best friend and I needed a night away as far as away and this hit the spot. Spent all night laughing and having a great time in tub. Before that we ventured for a walk to find great spots for taking pictures. Comfortable stay, welcoming and friendly hosts. Lovely area too!

  • Highly recommend! Really different and quirky, my partner and I loved it! :D would definitely stay again! Thank you Ralph!!

  • A super quirky escape to the depths of Devon. Hot tub is fab. Caravan very cute and cosy (even when blowing a gale and chucking it down outside!). Lovely local walks to local pubs in High Bickington, Roborough and Beaford.

  • Helen and her husband are great hosts. The facility is well appointed. The kitchen has a lot of nice extra utensils. The pans are very high quality. The location is in a beautiful rural location. You do need your own transportation to get around the area. The indoor pool and hot tub are really nice.

  • Outstanding Hospitality and facilities. Definitely a great place to stay. We were a group of eight and we all felt very welcome and looked after throughout our stay. Hazel and John were always on hand when we needed anything and have great local knowledge. The pool, the barbeque cabin and cinema room are the icing on the cake. 100% would recommend this accommodation to families and groups.

    Nilesh2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • We booked the large house that sleeps 10 and it was as advertised and more. The extras which were provided such as tea, coffee and cake for when we arrived, the board games etc and in the brilliant swimming pool were pool toys and swimming aids for the children. We would be happy to recommend the house to everyone

    Margaret2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in cottage number 6 was great. The cottage is stylish and very spacious. We were a group of 6 adults and 2 young children. It was sparkly clean and the kitchen was fully equipped. The facilities on site are fabulous - great pool and fantastic park area for the kids. The setting is very peaceful yes close to lots of things to do. Hazel was great at communicating and sent us thorough details for everything we needed before our arrival. I will definitely be coming back!

    Vicky2019-10-18T00:00:00Z

  • It was ideal for 6 adults and 2 children. It was very spacious and had plenty of equipment in the kitchen with double amounts of plates and cutlery. The pool was fantastic and it was lovely to just walk across the courtyard. It was peaceful and set in a lovely location with good access to beaches and towns.

  • Located in the heart of the Devonshire countryside, you could hear a pin drop. Beautiful cottage, sparkling clean with those personal little touches that makes a difference. Setting on a small holding with sheep, goats, horses, poultry, ducks on a pond and not forgetting a nice walk through the woods to a bubbling river. We took a trip to the coast through the countryside and overall really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

    Jackie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Byre is such a special place in a beautiful countryside location with wonderful hosts. We loved our few days in peaceful surroundings and walked across the fields each morning, accompanied by Tex the dog. To see an abundance of birds, as well as the sheep, horses and ducks out of the Byre windows was a treat. We had our dog with us and the garden is ideal, with super field walks all around. The Byre was spotlessly clean, thoughtfully equipped and snug. The beds are comfy and we had great sleeps. Our hosts Wendy and Ged were friendly and welcoming. The communication from Wendy when we booked was warm, helpful and quick replies. There is a folder full of ideas of places to visit and we followed several recommendations like Dulverton and other Exmoor highlights, Valley of the Rocks on the coast. We also ate well in welcoming local pubs recommended by Wendy. We hope to return soon.

    Caroline2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had a really good last minute short brake here. The girls loved playing with tex the dog and the wrong cat that seemed to like following us across the fields. The house was lovely clean and warm the pictures do not do it justice. Thanks you very much wendy for letting us stay.

    Lewis2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay and Wendy was a brilliant host. The house was all very clean, cosy and warm. Set in a truly beautiful location with stunning views over the rolling hills of the countryside. Fantastic walks right on your doorstep which we made the most of with our dog. Such a great find! Thank you Wendy

    Janet2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, nice views and cute animals!

    Marcel2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely four night stay here whilst visiting family in the area. Wendy is a fabulous host who responded to all communication promptly. The cottage is spotless and had everything we needed and we loved all the friendly animals around especially Tex the dog and The Wrong Cat. The space is great for families with children as our 2 year old loved having the space to run around and explore and meeting the animals. There are also a number of recommended places to go out to eat that Wendy has thoughtfully referenced in the house manual.

'A little slice of heaven at Heavenly Heavitree! A sweet two bedroomed cottage with a sitting room and kitchen that was the original coach house in the garden of a Georgian Wing where I live. Cosy and well decorated with original features and use of the garden. Garden is dog proof if you wish to bring your well behaved, well socialised dog that is happy to share the garden with my family and collie.
It's a quiet, self contained cottage with a sofa, tv, wifi, little kitchen with a Nespresso machine, toaster, microwave, a fridge, cooker and dishwasher. There is plenty of storage for bikes in the garage and space to wash out wetsuits and hang them up to dry. There's a bathroom with a bath with an integrated shower and two bedrooms up stairs, one with a Hypnos mattress that is a king (2 meters long by 1.55 wide) and another bedroom with standard size bunk beds. Both rooms have wardrobes and look out over the garden. There's an iron and ironing board and a hairdryer for you to use. There's a sofa bed in the sitting room.
Pilton is a lovely unspoilt part of Barnstaple with beautiful architecture and some ancient buildings. It has two pubs, an Indian takeaway and a very popular fish and chip shop. It is within easy walking distance of the town which has a fantastic theatre, cinema and lots of lively bars, restaurants and independent shops.
  • The cutest cottage for a much needed get away, (especially to esape the madness of the world's current situation). Perfect location should you wish to visit the town center or the nearest beach. Very happy!

    Faye2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cute and cosy cottage situated in a nice quiet area, only a short drive away from the centre of town! Would highly recommend!

    Lauren2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Charming cottage that's always spotless and toasty warm. Katie's always really quick to respond and is extremely helpful. We will be back

    Chris2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy, warm and quiet cottage a short walk from the town. Katie went the extra mile to ensure we arrived safely and had a comfortable stay. The bed was super comfy. All in all a great base from which to explore Barnstaple and the surrounding area on foot, by bike, public transport or car.

    Anna2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely little cottage. It was clean, warm and welcoming. Katie and Dave were so welcoming. The location is perfect for exploring North Devon. We'll most definitely be heading back to Heavitree in the future.

    Luisa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • From previous reviews our expectations were high and my wife and I were not disappointed :-) Communication from Kt was excellent, accommodation was ideal for us and fantastic local suggestions contributed greatly to our most enjoyable stay. Importantly for us our dog, Wallace thoroughly enjoyed roaming the extensive enclosed garden. Unfortunately we were only down for 2 days but would definitely recommend ...

    Colin2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Really well appointed cottage in the grounds of Katie the owner but away from her house and very private. We had everything we needed in the cottage and were cozy and comfortable. Highly recommended and ideal to explore Barnstaple and the beautiful surrounding coast and countryside

A rural, cosy, detached barn conversion 20 minutes from Barnstaple, next to our 16th century home and gardens. The barn benefits from it's own central heating, double/ twin bedroom and bathroom, living room, private patio area and use of the grounds. 1-2 well behaved dogs also welcome.
Rosehill Barn - is set in the grounds of a medieval hall house surrounded by lovely gardens and an orchard and has a timeless, peaceful atmosphere; there is very little to disturb you other than birdsong and the mooing of cows in the surrounding fields. The open plan living room has oak flooring and is furnished with a comfortable sofa and chair, TV and DVD player, a pretty dining table and some simple kitchen equipment with microwave, table top hob, small fridge, toaster and kettle. The double bedroom has a large built in wardrobe, and the door opens out into the garden which contains many roses which give the barn its’ name. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi bath with shower over, towels and a limited selection of toiletries will be provided upon arrival. The barn benefits from its’ own central heating and hot water system. We encourage guests to recycle, compost and use energy wisely. Guests will notice we have a solar array in the orchard which contributes to our electricity demands.
A unique rural property on the edge of a small North Devon village with easy access to the market town of Barnstaple and the beautiful North Devon countryside and coast.
  • Lovely host. Left us to our own initiative which we like! Lovely and quiet area. Barn was lovely and warm. The Bath was probably the best part 😀

    Hannah2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the barn . Jane was a great host and nothing was too much trouble. The kitchenette and jacuzzi bath were added bonuses . Thank you .

  • This place is very special, cosy and made with a lot of love. Jane was a super superhost, very friendly, welcoming and down to earth. Rose Barn is perfect for a country get away,we are from the city and was so great to be somewhere so peaceful with lush green countryside. The weather was wild which made it even better with the rain pattering on the skylight windows at night, we felt very snug in the comfy bed. Jacuzzi was a real treat as were the pukka teas, yummy biscuits and all the lovely little touches including maps, a handmade guide book and even a bent fork sculpted into a card holder- we loved that :) we would fully recommend staying at Rose Barn if you are looking for some R&R in beautiful surroundings. Thank you

Our dog Milo, had the best time exploring the wonderful garden and orchard - this was beautiful in February, so must be a picture later in the year ! Well positioned to explore the local area, with lots of excellent dog walks, places to visit, farm shops and places to eat out. A perfect getaway with excellent hosts - thank you !

The Hide is a tranquil getaway, tucked into the corner of Lemons Farm, our 15th Century thatched farmhouse. Originally a piggery, the cob and stone building has been converted into a little cottage with a living area, kitchenette, bathroom and mezzanine sleeping area. Fall asleep under the stars and wake to the sound of birdsong. Lemons Farm is located in Atherington, a lovely village with a church, shop and great playground. Some great pubs are nearby as are the gorgeous North Devon beaches.
Guests are able to explore our large gardens, with two lawns, kitchen garden, stream with waterfall and decking. We have a trampoline, mud kitchen, swings and slide for children to enjoy. Guests also have their own patio seating area with a BBQ (bring your own charcoal) and chiminea (logs and kindling are provided).
We are just 25 minutes from North Devon's spectacular Atlantic coastline. Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Croyde Bay are our closest beaches and we try to get there as soon as the sun comes out. We also love walking and cycling on the Tarka Trail which goes along the river estuary. We are 15 minutes' drive from the market town of South Molton, well worth a visit for its pannier market and a Devonshire cream tea. From nearby Bideford or Ilfracombe you can take the ferry to Lundy Island's spectacular nature reserve. Family attractions include The Big Sheep, The Milky Way, Dartington Crystal, RHS Rosemoor Gardens and the lovely seaside towns of Clovelly and Lynmouth, which are all under an hour's drive. If you love walking, we are not far from Exmoor, but there are some very picturesque spots to explore even closer to home, like Northam Burrows and the Taw River. The South West coast path is also on our doorstep.
  • We had a lovely stay here, it is very cosy and has everything you need, we visited lots of beaches and did some beautiful walks which weren’t too far away. We were questioning whether to visit because of the coronavirus situation but it is a perfect place to self isolate / social distance, there is a key safe so you don’t even need to see Katherine or Tino (although they are lovely and would definitely speak to them from afar for all the tips and places to visit!) also near by pubs are offering to deliver pub meals and they will leave them at the door and call you so you don’t even need to have any contact if you don’t want to. We are really glad we decided to take the trip and get some fresh sea air :)

    Laura2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a tranquil and peaceful space, I spent a week here whilst attending a course and I couldn’t of chosen a more perfect place to stay! There’s a small village shop for essential but a supermarket about 10 miles away ! Thank you 🙏🏼 I will return one day for a walking holiday 💕

  • A wonderful place to stay, peaceful and quiet but plenty to do nearby and great Devon countryside and coast to explore in all directions. We were made to feel very welcome, communication was excellent and the fresh baked bread and free range eggs were a fantastic extra on arrival. The conversion has been beautifully done with everything thought about and provided for - a wonderful blend of old and new. Sitting on the bench in the sun with a cup of coffee, enjoying the lovely garden was just what was needed. Would love to go back again.

  • Outstanding hosts and a lovely country retreat in idyllic setting. Absolutely everything you need and equipped even with a Bluetooth dab smart speaker. Contemporary interior in split level annex. Warm, cosy and spacious. Bespoke lighting and black out blinds if you require them? Your own parking space and best of all, you can’t hear a pin drop! Hosts just let you get on with it, perfect. Highly recommended. Five stars.

  • Lovely little place for a short stay. Compact but comfortable, we had everything we needed and the eggs and bread from the farm were a very lovely touch. The folder with local recommendations was very helpful and much appreciated. Tino and Katherine were lovely and welcoming and even lent my son a pair of pyjamas because I forgot his. Thumbs up from us!

  • Julia is absolutely lovely, she allows you to chill wherever you like in the house, the house itself is clean and tidy with nice design, interesting art and ornaments. The dog is somewhat cute and the garden is nice to sit in. I would definitely stay again if I had to go to South Molton.

Meshaw is a pretty village well placed to explore Exmoor and North Devon coast. Nearby towns are South Molton, Barnstaple, Tiverton and Exeter. The well equipped, newly refurbished room is upstairs on the 1st floor. It has a king-size bed, microwave, toaster and kettle. A table-top fridge and ironing facilities are available. Car parking outside property. Reasonably priced but high quality accommodation. One min walk from The Cart Linhay - a neighbouring Airbnb.
It offers a chance to relax in a beautiful rural setting.
It's a lovely area and the people are really friendly.
  • Celia is a really lovely and friendly host and we really enjoyed our stay with her. The room is lovely - huge and bright with fantastic amenities (microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge etc) and breakfast was provided too! The bathroom is big and clean and we never had to wait to use it. The property is a in a beautiful village about 20-30 minutes’ drive from Barnstaple and Celia gave excellent directions to help us find it. Celia couldn’t have done more to help us - we would recommend her place to everyone and would love to stay again in the future!

  • Cells is a lovely lady, very welcoming. House is in a quiet location with a bus stop virtually right outside! Comfy bed, clean, microwave/ toaster/ kettle in room. Would highly recommend!

  • I apent two nights at Celia's home whilst travelling across country. It a characterful home in a very small village, next to the church in the heart of rural Devon. There is a convenient parking space in front of the house and the room contains a comfortable, large bed, combination micro-cooker, a selection of cereals, snacks, tea and coffee etc. A fridge for guests is located in an adjoining room. The bathroom is just across the landing from the bedroom. Celia is friendly and happy to chat, but the guest can also be completely independent to stay in or come and go as they please. Skye, the border collie, adapts to guests; there is also a cat, but I didn't see anything of her. An ideal place for peace and quiet, or a central location to explore much of Devon. Of interest to literary pilgrims is nearby North Tawton, home to Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes.

  • Our stay with Celia was great. Communication from Celia was prompt and helpful. She was there to greet us on arrival and could provide us with information about the local area. The house is beautiful in a peaceful village and the room was great full of lots of thoughtful touches. We would definitely recommend staying here and will be back ourselves very soon! It was lovely to meet Celia

  • The 6 of us had a great time staying at Higher Beers with Alison. The cottage was lovely, really smart, clean and tidy and perfect for gathering with friends. Marley (dog) loved having a field to run in and Bailey as his own personal canine host/playmate. The sheep, goats and ducks were very friendly too. Alison was very welcoming and helpful, and we couldn't have asked for any more.

  • We had a lovely relaxing weekend in this beautiful property. I would highly recommend these hosts and this property and would definitely go back again!

The Linhay has been newly refurbished. It is the ideal location for a peaceful break in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. It has a cosy sitting area with wood burning stove, a well appointed kitchen and a double bed with feather duvet and 100% cotton sheets. The cottage is situated on a working farm, the highest on Exmoor. A host of local activities are just a stones throw away: walking, mountain biking, horse riding, sailing, fishing, shooting and country house tours, to name but a few!
The Linhay was once a 19th century farm building. It is now an annexe to the main house and has recently been refurbished to a high standard.
The Linhay is a 5 minute drive from Simonsbath and 20 minutes from Lynton. Braunton and Saunton Sands are 20 miles away. You will find a Sainsbury’s in South Molton which is a 10 minute drive from the farm.
  • We had a great stay here. It was a haven in the middle of the moors, quiet and away from hustle and bustle. Exactly what we had been craving. The cottage had everything we needed, a comfy bed, wood burner and cosy decor for a wet and cold weekend! It was lovely to wake up and see sheep in the courtyard. We liked that slow wifi and limited phone signal allowed us to switch off, snuggle up, read and watch a film. We would definitely recommend this place

    Jo2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is perfect a base to come back after a full day out, it’s very spacious and homely, the bed is lovely, and the bath was ideal. It’s clean and stylish, with thoughtful touches like local biscuits & a helpful guide to the area in the welcome book. We were really pleased that the kitchen is fully stocked and we were able to cook our own food there (as we visited in off season & a rainy day, the local pub was empty!) The area is just stunning, we saw some Exmoor ponies as dusk on our way back to the house, and though we weren’t staying longer - our lovely host said there were some great walks straight from the cottage.

  • Great place so lovely clean. Sweet a die for us which was needed after a day of walking around the moors. Self catered and had everything we needed available for us. Struggled finding in the night as had no signal and just followed the address from the map on Airbnb. My own mistake. Thank you

  • If you require high quality accommodation with extra touches then this is the place for you. No corners were cut in providing a really comfortable stay. Isn’t it great when hosts go that extra mile? I would recommend this stay, in fact, I already have.

    Gareth2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning accommodation, spotless. Comfortable and peaceful. The cake was excellent. Lovely hosts .would highly recommend.

    Jenny2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful location, beautiful views. Great hosts and lots of thoughtful extras, like a homemade cake and greeting card on arrival. Lynette and John made the two single beds into a double for me and my boyfriend which was really comfortable. We had a car so it was a good value base for us while exploring North devon. Lovely log fire for cosy evenings and patio/ bbq equipment for warmer days. We would recommend to friends and happily stay ourselves again.

This is a pleasant one bedroom cottage, in the beautiful grounds of the owner's property. Nearby there is the Famous Jack Russel pub where you can enjoy great food. Within a radius of twenty miles, you have the North Devon coastline, golf clubs including Englands oldest course, fishing, and wonderful walks on Exmoor. The Town of Barnstaple is only five miles away. The cottage has all the facilities for that perfect weekend getaway,
It is quiet, you can hear the birds sing and see the stars at night. Perfect.
The area in which Sunset cottage lies is in a typical country village, with a local pub, pretty church, friendly folk.
  • Very warm welcome from Zena and the dogs! The accommodation is very comfortable and was cosy despite the bad February weather. Everything you need for a break in North Devon, conveniently located for Barnstaple, South Molton, and the coast. Nice garden and views, that would be very pleasant in the summer. Highly recommended.

  • Zenas place is by far the best Air b&b we have ever stayed at!!!!! We picked this initially because going by the photos we wanted value for money but when we got there the experience far exceeded that....... The pictures dont do Zenas place justice as you would need a whole catalogue for the photos. Its set in amazing grounds, with spectacular views. Its so relaxing and zena is so friendly. Her Dogs were just beautiful and kept us feeling safe at night knowing they were protecting us. I wanted to bring all three of them home. If you want hospitality that is second to none, peace and quiet, an extremely well kept property with all amenities then i cannot stress enough that you should pick this property to stay in to experience North devon and surrounding areas. Zena will make the top air b&b hosts list in no time at all Thak you Zena, it was an AMAZING STAY!!!! Kindest regards, Al and Joanne

Our house is close to family friendly activities, restuarants and dining in the county of Devon. Our house is good for couples, families, solo travellers, business travellers, walkers and cyclists. The house is located within a 10 minute walk of the historic town of South Molton. There are a number of stunning moorland villages, walks, coastlines and cycling routes to explore not forgetting the opportunity to treat yourself to a local cream tea. There are 2 parking spaces available.
South Molton is a beautiful quaint Market farming town ideally situated as a base to explore the beautiful countryside of North and Mid Devon, Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks. South Molton originated in early Saxon times, the area being occupied from around 650 and known as Dumnania. The town flourishes as a market town, population about 5000; with its square surrounded by small local shops, unspoilt and much the same as it has been for years. A cattle market and pannier market day is held on Thursdays with an extra pannier market on Saturdays. There is much to do in and around South Molton for visitors of all ages. You will find excellent Devon scenery with some fabulous countryside with lots of walks and a growing cycle network to take you across Exmoor and North Devon. Great places to eat are all around; tea rooms, fish restaurants, country pubs and coastal views to die for. One of the attractions in the town is Quince Honey Farm where you can see the world’s largest exhibition of honey bees. We also have an Award-Winning Museum, a Chocolate Factory where you can indulge your sweet tooth. Or if you’re feeling energetic, have a swim in the local pool or visit many of our costal resorts from surfing at Saunton and Croyde to the hustle and bustle of Woolacombe or a stroll around Ilfracombe not forgetting Combe Martin and the towns of Barnstaple and Bideford all within easy driving. The Nest has everything you could wish for a true home from home. The kitchen has a washing machine, cooker and fridge with a small freezer section, all the crockery etc you should need. Steep stairs leading to a bedroom which consists of a double and single bed with an ensuite shower room. Downstairs we have a double sofa bed and downstairs toilet. The price of £70 is for 2 persons using 1 bed should you require an additional bed there will be a sur charge of £10 payment on arrival. A lovely quiet location overlooking the Devon countryside. We provide coffee and tea making facilities for you on arrival. South Molton is well equipped for all your shopping needs. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
We are on the outskirts of South Molton overlooking the countryside.

Orchard setting with beautiful views, our holiday caravan is somewhere to truly relax and imagine how life could be. Fully equipped for 4 guests, there is also private parking, a garden with seating, a fire pit and BBQ equipment. Between late May and September guests have shared use of the heated swimming pool. A games room with table tennis and pool is also included. Situated only a couple of miles from the village, our accommodation is within easy reach of a range of shops and places to eat.
A truly tranquil location yet within easy reach of civilisation. Sit in the comfortable living space and watch the abundant wildlife, including red deer, or head out for a country walk and follow footpaths over open fields and moor, where skylarks fly, to the local where local cider awaits. With children in mind, our friendly farm pig Minxie and Dartmoor pony Dora love lots of attention and provide endless amusement close to home. Or, borrow wellies and hunt for the Geo-caches to be found in the vicinity or play pooh-sticks on the little bridge crossing the stream in the farm woods. For more structured exercise, take a swim in our heated swimming pool and soak up the sun before exhausted and hungry you return home to enjoy tea in the private garden. Finally try out one of the lovely country pubs including the Royal Oak at Iddesleigh..inspiration for Michael Morpurgo's'War Horse' (about 20 min drive) or dine in and spend the evening around the firepit. Otherwise simply hunker down on the comfortable sofas and watch a favourite DVD.
Our family farm is situated amidst glorious Devon countryside. The vilage of Chulmleigh is approximately 2.5 miles distant and has a full range of shops including: butcher, bakers, newsagents, grocers. There is also an Indian restaurant, a bistro and two pubs serving food. 8 miles away is South Molton which has more shops, a Sainsburys and a traditional Pannier market twice a week. Exmoor and Dartmoor are within easy reach as is the North Devon coast: Approximately a 40 minute drive.
  • Clean, comfortable accommodation. Beautiful surroundings, other than the usual farm noises (not that much) it's very peaceful & relaxing. You feel out the way but only 5 mins away from village. Would recommend.

    Denise2019-09-08T00:00:00Z

  • We had a lovely stay at Dawn’s place, our girls really loved being with Mixie and Dora. The surrounding is beautiful and extremely quiet. The heated pool was fantastic and the games room was a welcome place when it started raining. We would highly recommend this place!

    Jeroen2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, cozy caravan with everything you need. Warm welcome from Dawn. We especially loved the pool, games room and the gorgeous animals in the orchard.

    Rachel2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Dawn’s caravan provided us with a wonderful family holiday that was full of fun, games and a break from everyday life. From the moment we booked, everything ran smoothly and we were made to feel extremely welcome as soon as we arrived (scones, cream and jam on arrival). The caravan itself is very cosy and was just right for the four of us, but it was the ‘neighbours’ - Minxie & Dora - who made the week extra special for the kids. Everything on the farm was great and we had lots of fun in the pool, playing tennis, table tennis & pool. There’s lots to do locally whether it is walking the dog or heading off to the seaside for the day. Thank you so much to Dawn and her family who were wonderful hosts and made out stay very special. We will no doubt be heading back in the future.

Very peaceful atmosphere on a secluded farm with walks on the farm land down to the river Taw (we saw lots of pheasants, rumours of kingfishers and otters but none seen!). A lovely escape from city life. Easy access to the north Devon beaches and cliff side walks. • We stayed here for 4 months after we sold our house before moving to the Midlands. As a long let, Sarah added extra amenities i.e. a fridge, armchairs, microwave, heater to make our stay during the winter months cosy and homely. The accommodation was cleaned weekly with fluffy fresh towels. Sarah was a great host, contacting us regularly to make sure we were happy. The views were amazing and we would not hesitate to recommend Sarah’s place for short or long stays.

  • I stayed just one night at Sarah’s place as I was going to a friend’s party nearby, so unfortunately I didn’t spend that much time there. It is a really lovely place, with fabulous views from the deck outside the room; it would be perfect for a longer stay especially in the summer when you could sit out there in the evenings! The room itself was great, with a very comfortable bed, plenty of storage, and a decent TV (which I didn’t watch but did use as a radio while I was getting ready to go out). The small lobby area has a kettle, fridge and the makings of tea and coffee, and there is a beautiful shower room and separate toilet. Everything is stylishly decorated in relaxing tones, and was sparkling clean.

    Scott2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Sweet little place, lovely and clean with THE BEST views in the area! So relaxing sitting outside drinking a cuppa or a glass of wine overlooking the rolling hills. Definitely recommend, and if you're in the area don't miss out on a meal in the stunning historical The Stag pub, 2 miles away and 800 years old!

Spindleberry is a pretty fifteenth and sixteenth century thatched cottage in the ancient hilltown of Chulmleigh midway between Dartmoor and Exmoor. Sitting-room and dining-room each with inglenook fireplaces, one king-sized fourposter bedroom and one dual aspect twin room.
"My Dream Home" and "Home away from Home" are just two of hundreds of happy guests' comments received over the last decade. It's a very special space that will stay with you long after your visit, the perfect Devon thatched cottage, with extensive enclosed gardens providing safety for children and pets.
All our guests remark on how friendly the natives are. We have a good choice of pubs and restaurants, a butcher, baker, delicatessen, florist, convenience store, newsagent/post office and hairdresser. There are some splendid walks locally and further afield on the Tarka Trail. Both Dartmoor and Exmoor are half an hour away by car, as are some of the most beautiful North Devon beaches. Varied fly fishing opportunities are offered by the nearby Fox and Hounds Hotel on the River Taw where tuition for beginners is also available.
  • We had a lovely stay. The house and garden are beautiful with all the comforts one needs. Elizabeth was very prompt with replies and access was straightforward.

  • Our second stay at Spindleberry Cottage and it is as described if not better. A delightful place to stay and Liz is a very welcoming host. A great location for visiting the north Devon countryside and coastal areas. Definitely one to recommend.

  • Great, cozy cottage. Lots of lovely little touches left by the owner which made the stay very comfortable. Great locations for walks and a lovely pub a short walk away. The cottage was very clean, warm and had everything we needed. Will definitely stay again.

  • Spindlebury is a wonderful cottage full of lovely homely rooms and kitted out with so many thoughtful extras. The welcome milk, butter, eggs, bread and more was a lovely touch, as was wine and cake! The village has 2 pubs, a convenience store and cafe. Oh was an ideal base for exploring Devon and perfect of the weather decided we should stay indoors. Thanks Liz

West Hurscott Cottage has been a holiday let for the last 5 years. We have many return visitors who love the spacious accommodation, country views and proximity to the beaches and moors. With a thatched roof, wood burner, delightful South Facing conservatory and enclosed garden, you can enjoy the relaxing country atmosphere at your leisure. Our wonderful small flock of animals greatly accompany our two very friendly goats (Eric & Clyde).
All the laundry and kitchen equipment you require for a home from home experience.
We are 2 miles from 2 pubs, 10 minutes gets you to the centre of Barnstaple by car, and the nearest beach is about a 20 minute drive. Exmoor just 30 minutes too.
  • Had a wonderful stay at the cottage, full of character with its thatched roof, wood fire and beams. Scones, cream and jam on a tray waiting for our arrival. Warm and cosy with the fire on. Fresh flowers in each room. Plenty of hot water. A warm welcome and attentive send-off from James. Well-recommended.

  • Lovely country cottage, conveniently located for exploring the local attractions

    Robin2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place was way better than expect. Lovely, quiet and mysterious by all the history! Beautiful location. Perfect tips from James!

  • Great cosy cottage with wonderful views and handy location to travel to north Devon coast. Tasty afternoon tea with clotted cream to arrive to and very cosy log burner and down duvet for the winter! A lovely stay!

    Claire2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great for touring North Devon being well located for the coast and Exmoor. If your after a proper country escape in Devon this is it in every sense. James’s home has it all including a friendly herd of sheep and goats in a paddock right by the sunroom. The traditional Devon long cottage is as you would imagine with lovely views over the valley. You won’t be disappointed.

Quiet village on the edge of Exmoor close to North Devon coast
Yew Tree cottage is situated near the top of the village & is well situated to explore all that this beautiful area has to offer. The kitchen is suitably equipped for a self-catering stay & the basics of tea, coffee and cooking oils are provided & you are of course welcome to use any fresh herbs available in the garden. There is a washing machine/dryer & washing line up in the top garage- very useful for drying swimming towels (but please bring your own; towels are provided for the bathroom but they are not suitable for the beach). The front room has TV, radio, underfloor heating as well as a wood burning stove - some logs are provided. There is a charcoal BBQ to use in the garden (but please bring your own charcoal). The cottage & garden are yours to enjoy , entry is by a key safe & there is private parking for 2 cars. Only weekly bookings or longer are accepted, but there is some flexibility around checking in & out times.
There is a village shop an easy walk from the cottage for newspapers, bread , milk etc. Sadly the village pub has closed but there are several pubs within close driving distance.
  • This is an extremely well-equipped and comfortable cottage. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need during your stay. We found the cottage to be spotlessly clean. There is a selection of maps and information about the area.

  • A beautifully decorated cottage with lovely touches including tea, coffee, shampoos/shower gels etc. The garden and house had attention to detail and we're kept to a high standard. Cosy log burner was a nice touch as well as plenty of kitchen utensils. Would recommend highly. Fast replies and easy check in. Thank you for the great stay x

  • Yew Tree Cottage is really lovely and comfortable and has a very efficient log burner. It was very clean. The garden is enclosed (although our springy springer managed to get out despite the high fencing!) and really pretty with some lovely old knick knacks around and about. Loved the ‘graffiti’ on the old garage door and the vintage Gilera motorcycle. The village is very friendly and has some great walks. We spent lovely days at Saunton Sands and Woolacombe with the dogs. We also enjoyed walks on Exmoor (Rockford to Watersmeet and Hunters Inn to Heddon’s Mouth). The dogs had a lovely swim in the harbour at Ilfracombe. We had a lovely, relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable time despite the weather. Recommend Rock Inn at Georgham, Rockford Inn at Rockford and Hunters Inn at Hunters Valley. Also had some fairly decent Fish and Chips from the van in the village on Friday evening. Caroline was a great host with helpful tips on where to go. Neighbours were friendly. All in all, highly recommend Yew Tree Cottage!

  • Stunning cottage on the boarder of Exmoor, everything you need at hand. Immaculately clean, great value for money, I would highly recommend

  • Yew Tree cottage is a lovely clean, well presented place to stay. All you need for a retreat away from it all in a quiet village. There's a well stocked village shop for self catering but no local eating places at this time, so need to travel out of the village to find a pub.

    Colin2019-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Caroline’s Cottage for 7 days over the sunny Easter weekend. The cottage was extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Caroline’s communication was spot on and her little personal touches made it feel very special, like a home away from home. I would definitely recommend Caroline as a host and the cottage to any one visiting Devon. I have already recommended it to friends and family and know we would love to stay again soon.
