  • A wonderful stay at Michelle's place in Akaroa. Quick communication easy check in. The house was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. We loved that the house easy was in easy walking distance to restaurants for dinner or to the beach and the trees in the back garden were often visited by Kererū to our delight! Thanks again.

  • This place is nice and central, clean and stylish. The only think I noticed is that it doesn't get a lot of sun so for us it was nicer to get out and about in Akaroa for meals rather than staying in.

    * New features for winter - Heat pumps in living room and master bedroom; * New outdoor hot tub. * Spa towels are provided at no extra cost. Daisy Hill Cottage is a well-loved classic Kiwi Bach. At Daisy Hill you are close to the cafes and restaurants of the quaint French village of Akaroa, but have complete privacy. Enjoy the large garden and the NZ native bird life. Free off street parking for at least 2-3 cars is provided. * FREE welcome hamper for stays of 3 nights or longer.
With 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 double downstairs this spacious house will suit a couple, group of friends or even 2 families. Enjoy the rambling old-world garden; relax on the deck with a drink, watching the sun go down over Akaroa Harbour; go swimming with dolphins or hike the crater rim trails. There are bathrooms on both levels of the house. Downstairs the table seats 8 and there is a log burner and two new heat pumps for winter warmth. Outside a covered deck & large BBQ provide great entertaining space. The spa pool provides a place to relax after a hard day's hiking or shopping.
Akaroa is often called NZ's only "French town" after a failed attempt by French settlers in the 1840s. These days it is best known for its unique wildlife - Hectors Dolphins, NZ fur seals and white-flippered penguins. You can see these animals by cruise boat or kayak tour. Voted "Best cruise destination" in NZ several years in a row, Akaroa is a bustling seaside town in the summer months and has a lively cafe & restaurant scene. Above the town are the craggy peaks of the ancient volcanic crater, where there are numerous walks with outstanding views. Many small bays within a 15-30 minute drive provide opportunities for picnics & exploration. For a town of only 600 permanent residents, Akaroa has many facilities such as a cinema, public library, resident doctor and the unique "Gaiety Hall" where a variety of entertainments are held each summer. There is a genuine local farmers' market on Saturdays in summer. Fresh and smoked Akaroa Salmon is available from the butcher.

  • The cottage is a lovely spot to stay - deep in a garden, but with a view and totally private. It’s an old house with its quirks but Victoria has set it up with everything you need. The hot tub is a superb addition!

A cosy cottage tucked in the valley above Akaroa town and amongst a wild and wonderful garden. Warm and recently restored, it's a charming and comfortable character bach. Located in a sunny and secluded spot, but just a 5 - 10 min walk down to Rue Lavaud, the sea and everything Akaroa has to offer.
Rose Cottage is one of a number of original colonial houses dotted across Akaroa. Built at some stage in the 1870s, it has been extensively restored and now serves as a much loved bach for our family. The cottage is situated within well established gardens and provides a secluded spot to come home to after a day exploring Akaroa and surrounds. There are two cosy bedrooms (one upstairs, one down), single bathroom (shower only; no bath sorry) and open plan lounge, dining and kitchen. There is a fire and firewood that will keep you super toasty, if you need it, or otherwise there is a large heat pump and oil heaters that can be used to heat the house quickly. The kitchen should have most things you need to cook something deluxe (if you need delicious produce, talk to Brendan, the local butcher).
  • Beautiful, well appointed cottage which is perfect for a peaceful getaway. Nic is a fantastic host and we had a great stay at Rose Cottage with our young baby and parents-in-law

    Becca2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really special place to stay. The gorgeous garden is filled with apple trees, lemon trees and lots of beautiful roses and is a lovely place to relax at the end of a day exploring Akaroa. The house is charming, with really comfortable beds and a fantastically stocked kitchen and it was wonderful to have a dishwasher and washing machine both available to use. The location is perfect, about 5-10 minutes walk into central Akaroa and it is also very conveniently set at the bottom of some wonderful walks up the peak. We loved our stay and can’t recommend Rose Cottage highly enough!

    Penelope2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Such a charming cottage, in a haven of peace surrounded by nature and very well equipped and clean

    Emily2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Rose Cottage is the absolute perfect place for a getaway in Akaroa! It’s a beautiful little cottage with lovely touches and situated far enough from the centre to be nice and quiet, but still close enough for a stroll into town for dinner. Nic is a perfect host who responds very quickly and is easy to communicate with. I can highly recommend it and would definitely return.

    Jo2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location quite street Beautiful garden 10/10

    Christopher2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our trip to the beautiful and quaint town of Akaroa. This cottage is sparkling clean, surrounded by beautiful gardens and is a close walk to town. We really appreciated all the recommendations including a boat trip with Akaroa Dolphins.

    Angelique2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, very well equipped, it's a little tucked away from the main street but only 5 minutes walk to the first cafe and 10 to the heart of town. The guidebook was informative and helpful. Communications with the host were great.

  • This may be the greatest Airbnb in the entire world. So much character in every detail that it would be nearly impossible to replicate. I would come back to Akaroa just to spend time in this oasis of sheep, birds, chickens, running stream water, outdoor showers and grill cooking eggs in the morning. This place is majestical!

    Katie2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the shepherd hut. Kathrine & Hugh have decorated & furnished it so well. Bed & sofa both very comfortable. Everything about the place is perfect! We loved the outside bath & shower & loved stargazing whilst laying in a bubble bath. Kathrine provides bacon, eggs, tomatoes, fruit, cereal & so much more & all were delicious! We enjoyed a cooked breakfast every morning cooked on the bbq. And walked it off by following the map (Hugh had pinned to the door) to the wonderful waterfall. The sound of the stream running past the deck was so relaxing. Hugh was doing a sheep shearing demonstration and invited us along. Hugh was v informative & it was great to watch & get up close to the sheep & Tom the sheep dog. We enjoyed our time in the Shepherd hut so much, we didn’t want to leave! Great experience - we highly recommend it - don’t hesitate book it! Kathrine & Hugh are the perfect hosts!

    Sue2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a romantic holiday and it didn’t disappoint. The outdoor bath, the waterfall walk, bacon and eggs and the other thoughtful touches were all highlights. We took our bikes and biked to Akaroa one day, not far, but quite a steep hill so only do this if you are fit! Overall a really nice cottage and my only hesitation in recommending it is that others may find out about it!

    Lyle2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really lovely place. We so enjoyed the Shepherds Hut and especially the outside bath!

  • Di's house is completely in the style of super artists. When we arrived, we warmly welcomed us. In front of us was a small farm and garden. Di was picking up fresh bouquets to decorate when the day arrived. There is some distance in the downtown area, very quiet ~

  • This place is beautiful! Peaceful, relaxing and very welcoming. We loved staying here and could of stayed a lot longer if our trip allowed. Thank you Di for having us, you made us feel so at home and welcome and the room & house was stunning. x

  • Di's home is like a large garden full of art, which surprised us. There are all kinds of flowers in the garden. Because we are not very familiar with the road, it is late and Di has been waiting for us at home. Later I realized that she had delayed her party and felt embarrassed. Di is an artist. The decoration of the entire room is full of art. Di also made a rich breakfast for us personally. We are very warm in heart. Thank you Di for the warm hospitality. I will stay next time and recommend her to everyone.

  • A great place for a getaway. Super quiet and nestled among trees, overlooking the bay. The jacuzzi tub is huge and very conducive to chill and possibly have a snooze in. The sandwich press was pretty handy as well, so we could prepare breakfast and lunches.

  • We had a wonderful weekend away here, I would highly recommend it to couples or small groups looking a serene getaway. The place was even better than we expected - it’s a lovely little space with every thing you need, super clean and the spa bath is a real bonus! The only slight downside is the wifi which is very slow (only was an issue for watching Netflix!), but otherwise this place is fantastic!

    Umaya2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this wee space - though it was bigger than expected. Amazing spa bath, huge bed, lovely fireplace and wonderful hosts. 10/10! The only suggestion I would have is bring your own drinking water.

Activities are many with various walks from harbourside to farm park on your doorstep, allowing you to experience the ambience of Banks Pennisula and the amenities and activities of Akaroa minutes away by vehicle or 40 minutes walk on farm park track.

  • Fantastic view and nicely furnished apartment. It's a shame that the kitchen has no hotplates, but everything was as described. We booked at very short notice and the communication went flawlessly!

  • A wonderful view from this special and immaculate space.

  • Great place in a wonderful location with an amazing view. Simple and beautiful furniture design from Nordics inspiration. We loved our stay.

  • This AirBNB has lovely views and is only a 5 minute drive to Akaroa. During our stay most of the Akaroa town was closed due to low season, but it made the stay much more relaxing and slow paced. If you are planning to self cater during the off-season then I would suggest bringing food in as the local 4-Square closes early! We went dolphin viewing which was magical and strongly recommended! The house has 2 moderate sized bedroom, a very nice shower in the bathroom, and a small outdoor covered deck for sitting and looking at the stars.

We are excited to be the proud new owners of Hideaway Studio Cottage. We have renovated the property to make our Cottage as comfortable as possible for our guests. Surrounded by native bush, we decided to call our Cottage 'Hideaway' because when you arrive, you will feel quite secluded as no one can drive passed the entrance. The sound of bell birds singing will help you feel like you are miles away from anywhere. Even when it is raining, you can sit on the covered deck and enjoy the outdoors
As part of the renovation we have included new furniture, bed linens including luxury mattress toppers and duvet covers with plush bedspreads, a Smart TV, DVD player with a small selection of DVD's as well as Sky TV, new pots and pans, cutlery, crockery and outdoor furniture. As hosts, we want you to have a wonderful experience staying at our lovely Studio Cottage. Your feedback once you have stayed would be very welcoming.
Head into town, just a few minutes drive down the road, where you can explore the local shops and cafes. Or take a scenic cruise around Akaroa Harbour, host to amazing sea mammals and bird life, including the worlds smallest and rarest dolphins, the Hector's dolphin, New Zealand fur seals and White-flippered penguins. Everything you need for a real Akaroa escape awaits at Hideaway Studio Cottage.

  • The cottage was absolutely charming! We relaxed on the porch the first afternoon before heading into town for dinner- just a 2-minute drive away! The space was so clean and it was clear the care that was put into maintaining it and making it such a welcoming place. It was also very peaceful to be removed from the bustle of town. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Akaroa!

  • A lovely peaceful stay in Akaroa. Jos and Stew are very friendly hosts and their accommodation is excellent. Just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of town it is set in beautiful gardens and is very tranquil. A lovely continental breakfast is provided in the room for you to have when you want, with cafetière coffee too. We would definitely return if in the area.

    Anne2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The garden is particularly large, with huge lawns and ponds. We played in the garden for a long time and went for a walk every day, great value! Not far from the town, we are all walking past. I only ate outside on the day I arrived. Later, I bought semi-finished products in the supermarket and returned to the microwave to heat my meal. It is a rare and pleasant feeling to dine in the woods under the shadow of the forest. We walked the Tree crop farm track, curry track and wood hill south track, Tree crop track was great, it was not far behind, the other two were tedious.

    Jeffrey2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely comfortable room, with birdsong as your musical companion. A beautiful setting with an expansive garden to explore.

    Peter2020-01-12T00:00:00Z

The kitchen is perfect and will fulfill your basic needs. The location is great too. We will stay here again the next time we travel.

    Adam2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • The most caring and respectful hosts. Their place is a wee gem. We wanted a quiet retreat in natural surroundings, to rest for a couple of days. The room is just as appears in the photos and it was a joy to wake up with the view of only the little table setting on the patio with lush foliage and a glimpse of sky in the background. Just a short stroll across the street to the sea shore and 10 minutes to the other end of the township. We are already planning our next trip.

    Nella Jane2020-01-14T00:00:00Z

Fantastic bed, very comfy, enough space and equipment to prep basic meals and a little patio to sit in which will be nice and cool in the hot weather. • Thank you to you both for “hosting” us in such a beautiful studio! The apartment was picture perfect and absolutely spotless, the location was second to none and every little touch of the apartment made it feel like home. My only suggestion would be to review the wifi - only one of our devices would connect and it would frequently drop out. That being said, the pub across the road reaches the apartment so it was not a big issue!

  • Fantastic location - a total gem of an apartment in the heart of the esplanade. We loved the easy access to restaurants and coffee shops and the waterfront. An extra plus as it is ground floor and was easy to get in/out with luggage, stroller, and all of our extra baby stuff. Maggie was an excellent host - very accommodating and friendly. Lots of windows with a breeze that comes straight through the apartment. Great shower too. Lots of bonuses like fresh bread for toast in the AM. We loved our stay and wish we could have stayed there longer!

Guests can expect a beautiful back in time place to sleep in a room with French doors opening onto a wooden deck heated by an open fire and a vintage bathroom next door that is theirs alone..a place close enough to walk to the village or beach .A romantic place to read.. to sleep.. to do yoga ..to watch films and eat fresh laid eggs ..carry the cat around and feed the goose ...have a hot tub ...sleep in..walk the hills .The property is surrounded by the walktrack networks of akaroa
Guests will be treated to having their car right outside the french doors onto the courtyard and adeck looking across the stone walled interior courtyard exclusively for the guests use. There is a stylish private bathroom almost en suite(have go through one door ) with a victorian period style shower and claw foot bath. This studio is designed for women guests travelling lone and its really been designed as a womans space. Having said that we have had happy male solo travellers interested in design and fabrics, and a cafe owner staying at present is enjoying having a deep bath every evening It's a compact space designed around fabrics and middle eastern rugs and antiques from the Victorian period ....candles and an open fire they will have a wheelbarrow of wood replenished every day Guests also have access to the library and dvds in the filmroom and an opportunity to book the hot tub down by the river as an extra.!..the film room also has to be booked for a private viewing . There is limited access to wireless and down loading cannot happen as the broadband is not unlimited. A desk and table for working inside or on verandah is provided. There is a fridge and electric jug etc and a breakfast tray can be ordered in advance for a turkish style meal of yoghurt nuts fresh hens eggs and bread and plunge pot coffee or herb tea. The plain antique colonial style kitchen in the house itself is available at meal hours for preparation of a simple meal . there is another fridge in this kitchen which guests also share with other Airbnb guests . Its a 5 minute drive to the waterfront restaurants jn Akaroa or a 25 minute walk . This valley is a walk track paradise..a bird watchers paradise... and a romantic wilderness garden and forest of over 20 hectares with walktracks .
The village is small with a pretty harbour historic early settlement in the 1840s and originally maori..then french and English. I50 years later its been discovered by the cruise ship industry as a stopover and not quite so quaint or so French! But the waterfront restaurants are still better than most and the dolphins and seals and penguins are still here , and the two local vineyards offer good wine . The superb walktracks criss cross all over the valleys high and low and the commercial boat trips kayakng paddle boarding and dolphin swimming are all super quality.. Guests also have access to our private boat shed in the harbour 15 minutes drive away available for guests on longer stays .
  • Akaroa has a quiet charm and good food. Lynnie works hard to give you a great experience and the experience is tailored to your unique needs. The decor is quirky and at first I was taken aback, however give yourself a chance to absorb the experience and to get to know your host and her outstanding hospitality and you won’t regret it. To any traveler wanting something out of the ordinary don’t hesitate to come to Lynnie’s farm. Highly recommended.

  • What a special place, and so full of character! Experiencing Lynnie’s spot was the perfect way to end my travels in New Zealand. My stay was full of thoughtful touches, and Lynnie went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable and welcome. A great and special spot, especially for a solo female traveller.

    Isabella2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a fun stay! Lynnie was so welcoming and hospitable and made me feel right at home. As a solo traveller that was really lovely. The place is very atmospheric and surrounded by a beautiful garden. Loads of animals and birds. I had a great experience.

  • A lovely host and an extravagant room. Thank you

    Nicole2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Lynnie’s farm in Akaroa was most enjoyable. In addition to being very friendly and incredibly hospitable, Lynnie also provided me with some local information regarding walks and recommendations for food. The farm is a beautifully quaint spot and I’d be very happy to return in the future. Thank you Lynnie!

    James2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • A special place to stay with a wonderful host

    Katharina2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lynnie’s farm isn’t your standard Airbnb crash pad: it’s an experience in itself. The house is wonderfully bohemian and full of gorgeous antique furniture, objet d’art, chickens, a friendly goose and an abundance of character. It’s surrounded by the most charming wild garden (acres upon acres). The farm animals (birds) are left to roam - it’s awfully romantic. If you’re lucky enough to get to know Lynnie, you’re in for a treat. She’s smart, eccentric, witty and an absolute hoot! I loved spending time with her and felt awfully sad to leave. My two day stint was not nearly enough. On a more logistical note, the farm is well located to some excellent walking trails and only a 25 min wander into the town (I recommend Mandela’s- the fish curry is top notch). Perfect for a female solo traveller- you’ll get the best room! Thanks, Lynnie.

    Alexandra2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • The farm felt like Paradise - it’s such a beautiful and unique place. I stayed 5 nights and definitely will stay again when back in NZ. You can feel Lynnes personality in every detail. Highly recommend to individual people who love out of the box styles in stunning nature.

Akaroa harbour view studio is a 5 minute drive or a 20 minute stroll to the centre of Akaroa. We love the walking route – it will take you down a public walkway past the Britomart monument to the peaceful Glen Bay, where there is a stony beach that is our favourite place to swim and kayak during the summer months. From there, it’s a pleasant walk along the beach road past Akaroa’s historic lighthouse into town. Akaroa harbour view studio feels close enough to all the action, yet it’s quiet and private and enjoys an uninterrupted view of the beautiful Akaroa harbour and surrounding hills. Akaroa is approximately 1.5 hours drive from Christchurch.

  • Words cannot begin to explain this place! It was truly amazing! Situated in a quite spot just outside of akaroa, you felt miles away from civilisation. The facility itself was possible the best I have ever stayed at, since using Air BnB. This cottage has recently been renovated and you can tell that the owners have put a lot of thought into the place to make the layout work for everyone. I would suggest a long weekend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay! One night was just not enough! I could have stayed for a week... Cannot recommend enough!!

Super chill little Retro Hut. *Indepedent Rural property, small, clean and safe. Double bed, little kitchen, lounge and outdoor area. Mains power and heater. Fully independent, a small walk away from funky toilets and bathroom at the back of main house. Wider property includes one other small Studio, little flower farm, outdoor kitchen and open campfire area. 1min drive to beach and bushwalks close by. 20min drive to Akaroa for dolphins, shopping and good coffee. Come and relax and unwind.
Banks Peninsula is a gem in the New Zealand scenery. Pigeon Bay specifically gives you an experience of the outer bays, which are more rural and quieter than the inner harbour and Akaroa. The property is run organically and intuitively. I honour the potential to live holistically in balance from the physical to the spiritual, and offer my place as a place to rest and practise this balance. I am a meditative artist and modern Palm Reader (not fortune teller as the lines on the palm change) with an office in Akaroa. I offer readings for guests. I also grow and sell Indoor Plants and cut flowers 🌸. I believe the world is constantly evolving and is in the midst of great technological, ecological and spiritual change. I aim to provide a place to rest, balance and settle in these modern times.
  • This place is awesome! It's so worth it even for just a night's stay at Fiona's hut. The place is tiny but it had everything we needed and it had such a beautiful and peaceful setting overlooking all of the sheep and cows next to the hut!

Banks Peninsula was created by a large number of eruptions of the volcanoes Lyttelton and Akaroa and was up to 25000 a year ago as an island. Memories of this geological past are everywhere: Rocky volcanic foothills, deep valleys and steep cliffs. Akaroa is founded by a small group of French colonists in 1840. Oldest city in Canterbury. The town possesses many historical buildings in French style, narrow streets and a pretty harbour. In the middle of the town is a beach where you can swim.
  • Great location and very clean!

    Yves2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely and homely cottage just outside of Akaroa. I only stayed for one night, but my room was amazing with a really comfortable bed. The atmosphere was really nice and friendly with all the other guests and Cornelius gave me really good tips for local walks. Would probably need a car if you stayed here for longer and wanted to explore around the banks peninsula, but the shuttle bus from Christchurch drops you off very close by which is handy! Would stay here again!

    Kavita2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Halfmoon Cottage is the most beautiful house surrounded by magnificent gardens and the location is ideal for walks and a short driving distance to Akaroa town. Cornelius and Margo are friendly hosts who will offer you advice on activities in the area. The house is spotlessly clean and the bedrooms are lovely the kitchen is very well equipped for preparing meals with an outside dining area as well as a dining room. We heartily recommend a visit and we will definitely return.

    Rosie2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. It is in a great location only 10km from Akaroa with all the facilities you need and so sparkling clean. Cornelius and Margo are so hospitable and we loved the house and garden. We will not hesitate to stay there again when we return to Akaroa.

    Linda2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the halfmoon cottage. We found everything to be tidy and the view outside was beautiful. Cornelius was there to greet us and showed us around. He also spent time offering suggestions which was a nice touch. Of note, Akaroa is currently under water restrictions so minimal water use is encouraged. Overall, our stay was not long, but most certainly was pleasant.

  • This was one of the highlights of our time in New Zealand. We were able to see sheep, cows, bunnies, stunning views and more stars than I’ve ever seen in my life. This is definitely a great spot for families, but if you come in summer with little kids who need naps plan to hang in town and let them nap in strollers or outdoors until evening so the house can cool down a bit. At night it’s perfect. We loved staying here. Chris was welcoming and kind.

This charming villa, situated in the heart of Wainui, is full of character. With panoramic views overlooking Akaroa Harbour and the surrounding hills, this is a superb spot to relax and unwind. Come and enjoy the unique environment any time of the year. This spacious family home has 5 bedrooms, kitchen/living room with large log burner and another living/dining room with a beautiful open fire, both opening onto the veranda. I look forward to hosting you in my delightful home and its surrounds.
Just a 5-minute walk from the beach, there are plenty of options for activities during your stay. Fishing, paddleboarding, kayaking, swimming and walking to name a few. There are also tennis courts in Wainui with tennis rackets and balls available.
Wainui is very picturesque, quiet and tranquil. Made up of holiday homes and under 100 permanent residents, there is a rocky shoreline and when the tide is out you can walk around it. You can fish from the beach and it is very safe for children. The water is cold but lovely. The surrounding hills are also divine, with pockets of native bush and some lovely walks. A great place for dogs! Things to do nearby: Purchase some fresh Akaroa Salmon from the Wainui wharf Visit the Shamarra Alpaca Farm French Farm Winery & Restaurant - a very short distance away Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in the summertime. Beautiful garden and grounds.

  • This is a unique, beautiful, large classic home with a fantastic view of the water. The bed is comfortable and the home clean as can be. There is a piano to play and a sweet purring cat outside that you can feed. Caro generously supplied breakfast supplies including eggs and a delicious muesli. Her communication was spot on, including the advice to purchase groceries before you get to Wainui as you cannot get them there. Recommend you visit the cute French town of Akaroa during your stay, although the best part of our visit was just living in the home. We did not want to leave.

Located in a quiet part of Akaroa with vast harbour views, and the sea at the bottom of your driveway. Theres no better spot to get away from the hustle, while you are still only a short walk away from the heart of the village. The house has open plan living, dining, kitchen, with sliding doors opening onto ample decking. There is one queen and one twin bedroom in the main house, . There are two additional bed rooms (one queen and one twin) and half bathroom available in the sleep out.
The drive way access to the house is quite steep, and bumpy, with a sharp bend in it. It might be a surprise the first time you drive it, but we havent had a guest, in a wide range of vehicle types, who has'nt managed it. Once at the top you can park right beside the house on a flat site for easy unloading. While the house is located up the hill for best views of the water, once you are at the bottom of the drive way, its a flat walk to the village. The Living, dining and kitchen are open plan, with windows overlooking the harbour covering virtually the length of the building. And sliding doors opening onto decking. There are no curtains on the main windows, but you are not overlooked by any other houses. The bedrooms have blinds/curtains for privacy. The kitchen is supplied with items you might need during a stay, including tea and coffee, some herbs spices. There is also a washing machine available for all those wet beach towels. This is a families private holiday home, it doesn't have all the mod cons, and not all the plates match. There is no dishwasher, or wifi. It is comfortable and private, in an outstanding location. I am only a phone call away, if you have any questions, but the house is entirely private.
The village of Akaroa has everything you need from great eating, a boutique cinema to Dolphin watching. There is a supermarket to top up your supplies, and many great outdoor activities and walking tracks. Check out www.akaroa.com to see what happening during your stay.
  • This is a wonderful bach. We loved staying a short walk out of town, away from the hustle and bustle of all the cruise-ship tourists. The view is outstanding; I could have sat on the deck / in the sunny lounge for many more days, watching the boats and kererus fly by. All four bedrooms are simple but great; I'd love some bedside lamps. We hope to be back very soon to take advantage of the restful space, view, local walks and cafes :)

  • The appartment is amaizing. Great view and can only be recommended

  • The Banks Peninsular, the village of Akaroa plus Akaroa Harbour View House are a great addition to any trip in the Canterbury/Christchurch area. The stunning view from the main rooms and deck forgives the small weaknesses. Well equipped and very comfortable, especially the beds! We would also recommend a visit to Okains Bay and the Museum there plus taking a Harbour Nature Cruise to see Dolphins, seals, many seabirds and if you are lucky the tiny penguins. We arrived around 2.45 pm at the house and rushed to join a tour at 3.40 pm as we had mistakenly thought the weather might not be so good the next day. Only about a dozen of us on the boat. So pleased we did as next day a cruise ship was in town and everything was busy! We understand should be less cruise ships arriving in Akaroa next season as Lyttelton Harbour is almost back in full use.

  • Excellent :-)

  • The house has an incredible view over the bay of Akaroa, calm and relaxing, we had a very good stay Thanks Carol

  • It has a great bay view, an oversized terrace, an open and bright living room, dining room, and kitchen. The location is not far from the lighthouse, which is easy to find. The road is steep and rotten, and the road surface has been pitted by wheels. It is easy to slip carefully.

  • Great property, well appointed. Good fit for family. We loved it

    Flo2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful views in one of NZ’s nicest towns. Saw seals, dolphins, penguins etc on the harbour tour. Totally recommendable.

  • Excellent location. Right in the heart of things. There is good space and privacy. The owner runs a local dolphin watching business which gives a sense of association with the community. Everything I was looking for. Thank you George

  • Lovely room with very comfy bed. It has all you could need. It is located right in the centre of Akaroa. It was a pleasure staying at George's Airbnb and meeting some of his friends who were all very welcoming and happy to share some facts about New Zealand. Would love to go back one day. I was also allowed to check in earlier which was very convenient. Highly recommended.

    Reiner2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay at George’s place. The room was very clean, with private bathroom and the location is very convenient. George is a very nice and friendly guy and he can help to arrange boat trip to see dolphins and sea lions. I definitely recommend his place.

  • Staying at George’s place made our Akaroa trip. We were lucky enough to spend the evening with George and his friends and we had a great time. From recommendations, local history/knowledge and great hospitality - George’s place has everything covered for a great stay in Akaroa. The place and room was lovely, it was really spacious and light and just what we needed for our stay. It’s also based in a really central and cool spot. To top it off he also has two amazing dogs, which are really friendly and quiet. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this place any more. Thanks again bud!

  • A cozy room to spend a night as it is located just behind the Akaroa Dolphin Cruise shop. But one thing that let us down is no access to the kitchen.

  • We enjoyed every minute we spent in Cornelius'& Margos Hostel! We had the twin room which was spacious and everything was just as shown in the pics. Cornelius and Margo are very nice hosts and have a lovely cottage near the bay! We can highly recommend their relaxed hostel to anybody who searches for a great accomodation on the banks Peninsula!

  • Very friendly. Enjoyed the shared kitchen and lounge area. It was lovey to have other travellers to chat with and watch a movie with at night, and then be able to have my own private place to head to bed and relax. It was the best place I could have taken my other too on her first trip to NZ.

    Halley2019-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean accommodation, well equipped for cooking if needed and in a truly exceptional location: quiet and close to hiking trails, akaroa ... Margo and Cornelius are very welcoming and full of good advice. Note that it is possible to borrow bikes (good quality and helmets are even available!). I definitely recommend this address! I really recommend this accomodation without hesitation! A really nice welcome from Margo & Cornelius, a calm and beautiful location, a lot of equipments like ...
