  • This cottage was everything we wanted for a little weekend get away. It was super clean & very homely. The bed was very comfy. We loved the bath, this was great.. we also liked that there were bathrobes provided! Would definitely stay here again.

  • This cottage is the perfect escape. We drove from South London which took just over 4.5 hours on lovely winding country roads through the welsh countryside and mountains. The cottage is bursting with character (we particularly liked the beams and log fire) whilst perfectly modern with every amenity under the sun. The jacuzzi bath is fabulous and the kitchen is incredibly well stocked. We had a welcome note and package which was a lovely touch. The free parking right outside is a helpful touch, and the town nearby is very easy to get to, sporting a huge supermarket and then some smaller bakery’s, book shops etc. There is a huge range of information provided at the cottage and we took one of the hiking routes along Harlech beach which was wonderful. Overall would absolutely recommend a stay if you are seeking a cosy country escape.

  • Absolutely amazing! Had everything you could want and more! The cottage feels like a home away from home. Host was extremely helpful and provided all the information required. Would definitely stay here again!

  • We stayed for 3 nights and in all honesty we had a fantastic time- it exceeded our expectations. The location was perfect; the pub (The Grape) with wonderful food/service only 1 minute walk down the road. 10 minute drive to the nearest village, has everything you need for a short stay (Tesco/ shops/ cafe's). During out stay one of the days it was impossible to go out due to the weather (we attempted and nearly got stuck due to flooding!) but still had a lovely day chilling in the cottage and again was super handy for The Grape to be within walking distance. The property itself was beautifully decorated/ very homely/ clean with high quality fixtures and fittings. The parking outside was an added bonus as well as the area being super quiet. All in all we would love to come back in a couple of years but we would personally choose to come around April. We could not fault our stay, it was very relaxing and enjoyable.

Our secluded cabin is surrounded by ancient oak tree forest and all the wildlife that comes with it. It is so peaceful that you will only hear the river and the birds. Set in 10 acres of our own land for you to explore and easy access to Snowdonia public foothpaths, it is perfect for those looking to spend some time in nature. The cabin itself features private hot tub, wet room, underfloor heating, large deck with bbq, kingsize bed, kitchen, living and dining area and a private cinema.
*Our cabin is very popular and if it’s full for your dates we have another equally wonderful place to stay ‘The Barn Owl’. Find it by clicking on our host profile photo* Our cabin is a nature lovers retreat for those looking for an adventure on foot or 2 wheels, or merely an escape from hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's located in the heart of Snowdonia, surrounded by native ancient forest and the wildlife it supports, nothing but the sound of the river and birdsong. After leaving your car at the garage, make the rest of your journey on foot, a short walk over a bridge by a waterfall and up a tree lined track up towards the cabin. The cabin is a long stone's throw from the main house but enjoys complete privacy through it's own gate and is hidden amongst trees and shrubs. It comprises large furnished deck complete with hot tub, perfect for relaxing in nature and under the stars. Inside there is underfloor heating, kingsize bed, fully equipped kitchen & dining area, wet room and large comfy couch on which to enjoy a full cinema experience. *From mid March we will be changing our hot tub from an electric to a wood fired tub. We think you’ll agree it’s a cut above as we have learned from our other Airbnb rental :) * The cabin is a perfect way to explore this part of Snowdonia, the surrounding area is crisscrossed with walkers paths and bike trails, there are outdoor pursuits galore from surfing to zip wiring over the slate mines. Snowdon itself is close for more great walking, as is Coed y Brenin for mountain biking and Bala for watersports or simply amble through nearby forests, by beautiful rivers and lakes. On a sunny day, the beautiful white sandy beaches of Harlech, Borth y Gest and the Llyn Peninsula are all within a short drive away. Now for the basics, we provide bedding and towels, small welcome pack (for 3+ nights). Eco-sensitive toiletries are provided which we encourage you to use. The cabin comfortably accommodates 2 adults and a further 2 small children or babies and we can supply travel cot, blow up bed and high chair. The cabin has full cinema experience and we have an extensive library for you to choose from. We are both keen walkers and can supply maps or advice on the many local hikes. You can even borrow 'Jake' - our perfect dog - if you promise to take him for a walk!!
Our nearest neighbour is well over 1/2 a mile away. It's you, the trees, the birds and the stars. There are nearby towns of Blaenau Ffestiniog and Porthmadog for your supplies and various pub food and restaurant options. We are also close by to Portmeirion Village.
  • Excellent place already booked our return! Thanks so much!

    Natasha2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my partner recently spent a week in the cabin, along with our 8 month old puppy. The space is gorgeous - clean, warm and full of thoughtful little touches like prosecco, popcorn and dressing gowns for after the hot tub. Now I mention it the hot tub was amazing - we saw 5 shooting stars whilst relaxing one night and plenty of secure space for the dog to run about. Mark and Lindsay are welcoming and helpful hosts - definitely recommenda stay for anyone needing an escape from the real world!

  • Amazing cabin, location and hosts!

    Metin2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place. Such a lovely cosy retreat in the heart of the beautiful landscape. From the moment we arrived we fell in love with the place. So much so that on the second morning we had already booked for our next trip there. The cabin is perfect, from the hot tub on the deck to to the lovely comfy bed it couldn't be faulted. The hardest part of the stay was choosing which film to watch from the brilliant DVD collection.. can't recommend enough.

    John2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Lindsay are lovely hosts and great at communicating, very helpful. This is the best air bnb I’ve stayed at! Even staying during the storm we had a lovely time. The cabin is beautiful, and the hot tub and surrounding area is amazing. We found a few treats left for us, and Mark and Lindsay were really quick at responding to any questions, never seeming like we were hassling them. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay. We managed a few hours walking despite the stormy weather (storm Ciara) and the area is really nice. Being in an ancient oak woodland in a hot tub even in bad weather and being able to cosy up with a home cinema screen (blue ray collection is great), is awesome. Highly recommend ‘Us’ if you like to be a bit scared. No complaints at all.

    Anthony2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed here with our dog. All three of us felt well catered for. The cabin has everything you need and extras from Mark and Lindsay that make your stay even better. We loved the enclosed area so our dog could roam around safely whilst we soaked in the hot tub after long walks that were recommended by the hosts. We were provided with so much info about the surrounding areas. It really is a one of a kind kinda place!

    Stevie-Leigh2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, great countryside, well worth a stay

    Jake2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Lindsay’s cabin is a must for anyone looking to escape the rat race. Hidden away in a picturesque valley, the cabin is in an ideal location for rest and recuperation. My partner and I had 3 perfect days, making the most of the walk maps left behind by Mark and Lindsay. It’s ideal for little ones too, as our daughter loved watching the sheep and spending time at the local waterfalls. The evenings were extra special for us, spending time relaxing in the hot tub, staring at the stars, miles from any light pollution or noise. We will certainly visit again!!!!!

Blaenau Ffestiniog, Snowdonia National Park, United Kingdom

Comfortable, well-appointed cottage providing ideal accommodation for a short break or longer stay. Blaenau is the perfect location for an active holiday in Snowdonia, for just relaxing, or for a bit of both. Direct view of the Ffestiniog Railway.
The cottage provides a comfortable base for a short or long holiday, whether you intend this to be full of activities, a chill out, or a combination of both. The cottage sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms. One of the rooms has a double bed and the other has a double / single bunk bed, so it can be used either as a double bedroom or as a twin bedroom. There’s wardrobe and drawer storage in the bedrooms. You can either bring your own bed linen (we provide duvets and pillows for all guests) and towels, or we can provide and launder bed linen and / or towels for an extra charge (see "Other Things to Note"). In the open-plan living room there’s a comfy three-piece suite, dining table, sideboard, bookcase (with a selection of books, DVDs, maps, local information and games), coffee table, smart TV (satellite and internet), Blu-Ray / DVD player and a Wii games console (with games). There’s a wood-burning stove in an Inglenook fireplace. High-speed wireless internet is accessible throughout the cottage and included in the price. The modern kitchen is well appointed, having a microwave with grill, fan oven, ceramic hob, extractor, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and plenty of pots, pans, utensils, glasses and crockery. In the modern bathroom, in addition to the obvious sink and toilet, there's a full-size L-shaped bath, an electric shower and heated towel rail. In addition to the stove in the living room, there are four electric storage heaters. Hot water is provided by an electric immersion heater. There’s a small garden to the front of the cottage, and a there’s a yard to the rear with steps up to a terrace and the hillside garden. Private, off-street parking is available directly in front of the cottage.
  • Really nice little cottage with everything we needed in it. The hosts were very responsive and very helpful too. In an excellent location, less than a 10 min drive from the slate caverns and right next to Snowdonia. Would definitely stay again and would recommend to others. Thank you for having us!

  • I really enjoyed the location of this home. It was perfect for what we wanted to do, which included hiking, a deep mine tour (which i recommended to anyone that has a chance), and just general site seeing. make sure to bring socks in the winter because the kitchen floor is chilly!

    Ilsa2020-03-07T00:00:00Z

  • Very easy to access as stated in instructions, i really liked the bonus when i seen free car place exactly for me as very narrow streets in there. Nice idea with the key locker, everything was perfect, fire place best thing, 15 minutes walk to the shop, and You need 3-5 wood bags for long evening. Have a nice stay who read this post. :)

  • What an amazing find! We booked for valentines weekend to get away and experience the Zip World Slate Caverns! The accommodation was even more lovely than we expected, amazing views and decor - spotlessly clean and the hot tub with Bluetooth speakers was a great bonus and great in all weathers! Adrian was lovely and informative with lots of local tips but we were given lots of space and privacy - the perfect balance! A great place to stay regardless of the weather (Even Storm Dennis didn’t dampen our stay)! Close to lots of cute villages and towns, the cost, zip world and country walks! We are looking to come back! Thank you!

A luxury 1 bedroom Quarryman's cottage which has been lovingly refurbished complete with Log Burner and Super King Size Bed. This cottage is situated in an ideal location to explore much of what Snowdonia has to offer.
The cottage really is a comfortable place to stay, what with a log burner with as much firewood as you can burn and a huge Super King bed with Goose Down Quilts and Pillows, complete with Egyptian Cotton Bed Linen... This is great place to unwind in comfort or relax following a day on the mountains. I hope you enjoy this cosy cottage as much as I do. I’ve attempted to retain as much character as possible whilst trying to embed as much modern comforts as possible. The cottage therefore benefits from an Integrated Dishwasher, a large Fridge Freezer, a large Power Shower and a modern but in keeping highly efficient Log Burning Stove backed up by a modern electric wet Central Heating System feeding radiators and producing a plentiful supply of hot water. The kitchen further benefits from an electric Oven, Microwave and a two ring Halogen Hob (a 3 tier steamer is provided to make up for the 2 rings!). The small (and steep!) terraced garden at the rear of the cottage has great views over the Machno valley) where there is a bistro table chair set, together with an additional set outside the front of the properly where you can sit and enjoy the views. Both areas are a real sun trap (Welsh weather dependent). All linen and towels provided, as are as much logs as you can burn. Whilst well behaved pets are most welcome guests should be warned that the garden is steep and not really suitable as an exercise space for dogs.
Betws-y-Coed 8 miles. The scattered, sleepy village of Cwm Penmachno is situated in the beautiful Machno Valley, just 6 miles from the popular town of Betws-y-Coed. Surrounded by dense woodland, magnificent mountains and flowing rivers, the whole area is a haven for walkers, birdwatchers, mountain bikers and climbers, whilst Betws-y-Coed itself offers a good range of shops, pubs and cafes. Here the River Conwy meets its three tributaries creating a host of cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges throughout the surrounding countryside, the most famous of which is the magnificent waterfall at Swallow Falls, situated where the River Llugwy meets with a spectacular chasm creating a sight not to be missed! With all of Snowdonia to explore and North Wales' Heritage Coastlines also within easy reach, this beautiful location is perfect for outdoor activities or a quiet “away from it all” holiday at any time of year!
  • This cottage is more than perfect - the comfort / cosy factor was brilliant! If you want a romantic cottage for two and to spend evenings in front of a roaring log fire after spending the day walking and exploring, this is the place for you. The location is wonderful and we hope to return some day.

    Layla2020-03-09T00:00:00Z

    Melanie2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect!! Such a beautiful little cottage with lovely scenery.. Some great walks nearby including mount snowdon just a short drive away! Fully equipped with everything you need, and I’ve never slept in such a large bed.. and comfy too! An overall great few days away and it was great that the dogs were welcome! Thanks for a perfect stay. Will definitely be returning.

    Abi2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a perfect getaway to wind down and get away from it all. There are walks for miles in all directions from the door and the log burner was amazing to come back to with a great entertainment setup for watching films at the end of the day. Would highly recommend and definitely be going back.

    Aden2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent cosy cottage that feels so welcoming. Decor is modern yet in keeping with the property. Log fire was amazing and so was the massive bed. Will definitely be coming back to stay again soon.

A beautiful cottage in the Llanberis Pass, occupying a stunning spot on Snowdon itself. Bordered by a stream and river; access is across a private wooden bridge. Incredible views and straight up onto the mountain for walkers and climbers. *1 dog permitted only by prior agreement - due to livestock etc - and a £20 pet fee, to be paid on arrival.
Delightful mountain cottage in the heart of the Welsh 3000s, with direct routes up to the peak of Snowdon, Crib Goch, the Glyders and Tryfan. Wake up each day to enjoy the fascinating and ever changing landscape, enjoying that first coffee/tea overlooking a mountain stream. We keep free range rescue chickens, so there is a steady supply of eggs for you to purchase at low cost if you want fresh eggs for breakfast.
Your local pub is the Vaynol Arms in Nant Peris and serves real ale; a dog-friendly climbers/walkers pub. It's around 15 minutes walk away and the lanes can be pitch black at night, so bring a torch :) A short drive further up the Llanberis Pass is the Pen y Gwryd hotel, where Hillary and Tenzing trained for the first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953. They signed the ceiling, so don't forget to look out for that! The bar is famous for its photos of mountaineers who have trained on Snowdon for Everest.
  • Amazing little cottage at the bottom of Snowdon. Had a great time!

  • This was our second stay at the cottage, and we loved it just as much as the first. Beautiful location, very clean and comfortable and a great host. Highly recommend.

  • We absolutely loved Ty Maen and the breathtaking scenery. Finding ourselves sandwiched between storm Ciara and Dennis certainly made it a wild week. The cottage was a welcome and comfortable retreat to both shelter from and observe the dramatic weather conditions and would be a lovely place to return to after a day in the mountains. Lisa and Chris were fantastic hosts and worked incredibly hard to help us ferry our belongings to the cottage when we arrived. They also make awesome welsh cakes.

    Kristel2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved are stay here, the location is perfect an the views are spectacular!!! The cottage itself is very cosy an Lisa left some very nice welsh cakes in the fridge which was a lovely touch. Look forward to staying again in the future.

My cosy cottage is a homely getaway which is full of character with a woodburner, lots of artwork, books, antiques, 2 comfy double beds, shower room, and a large lounge/dining room with mountain views. There is a yard and private garden at the back. Great for Zip World, Bounce Below, walking, Snowdon and Coed Brenin (bike hire) and glorious beaches just 12 miles away.
The cottage is located about 1/4 mile from the centre of Blaenau Ffestiniog, brilliant for hiking and activities such as caving (Go Below), cycling, (Coed Brenin) surfing (Dolgarrog) and only 12 miles from the amazing beaches at Porthmadog. There is a Barbeque in the back garden with a table and 4 chairs. There are lots of books and board games to while away the evenings, and some artists materials. The heating system is new and is a gas combi boiler, which is serviced annually, appliances have all been PAT tested.
Very friendly people, with a friendly pub The Manod just 2 minutes up the road.
  • Lovely cottage, with views that pictures just don't do justice. Had a lovely stay in February with a mixture of weathers over the four days, but leaflets in the cottage provided us with plenty of options of activities and a cosy place to return to after time in the snow. I'm an over protective dog mum, but felt the cottage was secure to leave her to get dinner etc., and she settled very well. Would definitely visit again as there's so much to see/do in North Wales

    Hannah2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful time despite the bad weather! The house is lovely, spacious for a family of 4. The beds are really comfy, we really enjoyed our sleep there. Beautiful touches all over the house that give you a feeling that you are home. When we arrived a lovely chocolate cake was waiting for us. Highly recommended!

  • Cosy homely cottage, beautifully decorated, lovely views, walks right from the door and in a friendly village. Loved the cotton bedding and comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, log fire, books and jigsaw! Couldn't have asked for more. Such a relaxing 5 days, plenty to explore locally, and we were just as happy staying in and relaxing by the fire. Thank you!

    Kate2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very cosy, clean and comfortable cottage. Lovely and warm with a great fire for the winter evenings! Fantastic location. Delicious cake on arrival! Thank you

  • Michelle's home is simply gorgeous. She has decorated it with love and huge artistic flair. There is so much attention to every detail. The beds are comfy and the bedding and bedlinen are lovely quality. The house is extremely cosy with a great selection of DVDs. The kitchen is beautiful and very well equipped including lovely china. Parking is extremely close and all amenities such as Co-op, cash points, cafes, take aways and pub are close at hand. This is the perfect base to explore the area from. I can't wait to return.

  • Thanks a million for such an amazing welcome! We arrived to a Christmas tree! Decorations ! Prosecco and a chocolate Yule log! This was our first time away from home for Christmas and I have never felt so festive, relaxed and welcome in such a pretty idyllic location and home. The pub near by was fabulous and full of wonderful people and lovely walks, a beautiful waterfall directly behind the cottage! Michelle thank you so very much and we wish you a fabulous new year xxx

This house was originally a butchers shop in the picturesque village of Tanygrisiau. It has a self contained garden flat on the lower ground floor. The Ffestiniog railway runs in front of the main house and beautiful walks are on the doorstep.
The house retains many original features although the lower ground floor flat is newly renovated with an added private conservatory. It still retains the old character with wooden beams and a log burning stove in the living area.
Tanygrisiau is a small old slate mining village on the outskirts of Blaenau-Ffestiniog in Snowdonia National Park.
  • Thank you Sheila! She has been an amazing host. We stayed at the place below and it’s spacious with proper big toilet and small kitchen.

  • Great stop off for walking in Snowdonia. Lovely fire to warm up and comfy space

    Sophie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely place to stay - quiet and relaxing. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Sheila is a very thoughtful host. The accommodation is cosy and quaint. The living room doubles as a bedroom and opens out onto a conservatory and a little garden. There is a large bathroom with a deep cast iron bath and separate shower. There is a clothes washing machine and a hanging clothes maiden to dry damp jackets or washed clothes. There is lovely stove and Sheila has plenty of dry logs for cold days although the accommodation is centrally heated anyway. The location is close to some interesting walks but most walks in the National Park are a short drive away. The local indian restaurant (about minute drive) is homely and plain but nice food. We didn't try the chippie/pizza takeaway but it looked fine. Nicola and I will definitely try and return.

  • You couldn’t wish for a more cosy place. Log burner, huge bath, hot shower, fluffy (and plentiful) towels, comfy bed, private garden, little but practical kitchen made this a lovely base for a weekend away. But what makes this place extra special is Sheila - the thoughtful touches like biscuits in the tin and proper coffee, board games, the offer of a toothbrush if you’ve forgotten yours and extra logs on offer really do make this like visiting a good friend who is a great host. Thank you!

    Ali2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Sheila was a friendly and generous host, and very helpful. The apartment was gorgeous and thoughtfully prepared, perfect to come back to after a long day out in the mountains.

A quirky, well hidden little house with excellent broadband wifi (no TV!) that sits directly above the Ffestiniog railway in its own private grounds. Set in an exceptionally attractive and self contained location, it has a cosy, secluded and intimate atmosphere- "gemütlich", as the Germans would say. But NOT for everyone- read below! If you think that that either Brexit or reading papers like the Mail, Sun or Express is a good way of improving the world this house may not appeal.
We have not been doing this long so please be patient with us. What follows is mostly negative stuff to ensure you don't have false expectations! This house is definitely for people looking for something a little different. Please note that some people will regard the following as defects: Not simple to find, I'm afraid! I recommend that you actually read the directions that I will send you if you book. PLEASE DON't OMIT TO READ THEM and then mark us down because you have been walking aimlessly in the rain looking for us! It has happened on several occasions. A large flight of 50 steps up to the footbridge and path that leads to the house- not for the infirm! Can be very slippery in freezing conditions. Although electric heaters are supplied, the principal heat source is the Morso multi fuel stove- which is brilliant and heats the place in no time. You need to feel confident about rising to the challenge of managing this! Please note that for ease of locking and unlocking the handle on the front door needs lifting. It is a small house. Ronwen and myself feel that if there are three or four of you you are pushing things a little for space. You need to be good friends or close family! There is no privacy between the side bedroom and main bedroom even though the second bedroom has a door leading to it from the main bedroom at the top of the stairs- you need to decide if this is an issue for you! If the booking is for two people and you would like to make use of the second bedroom, please tell us otherwise we shall assume you are sleeping together!. We are not psychic. A torch is recommended for negotiating the path in the dark. Because the house is not new build (to put it mildly) and some of the work is not to modern standards, the toilet and shower room may not appear squeaky clean (I assure you they are). We were marked down a couple of clients who couldn't find anything unclean there but thought it couldn't possibly be clean because it was old! Beware, it has brass taps and exposed copper pipes, the latter of which I dont mind wiping but absolutely refuse to polish. Not suitable for some children- there is an 8' drop and steep banks at the rear of the house that require awareness, common sense and caution. Downstairs floor consists of a well worn floor covered with rugs- i.e. no wall to wall carpet. No central heating- see above about the stove, for which we supply adequate fuel. Water is heated by propane gas which should be very reliable unless freezing conditions prevail. A tremendous high pressure shower. The furnishings will be a little too 'eclectic' for some people's taste (see photos & intro). Be warned that Sykes Cottages considered us unsuitable because of the brass taps, furniture that did not match and a rather expensive leather couch ("that would have to go")- not to mention the various banks and drops around the house that would need to be fenced off. It must be a miracle our children survived living here! Be aware! PETS (preferably no more than one) are welcome but only if you can assure us that they will not under any circumstances go on a bed or the sofa. Also, we have come very close to saying no to dogs in future because a couple of guests left mountains of dog mess all over the property. We take the cleanliness of the place seriously. As well as high speed wifi provision there is a wireless enabled Bose which will play your music in decent quality.
We think we live in one of the most attractive and characterful parts of this interesting slate town. Mountains to the back of the house and loads of private space. You have here easy access to all of Snowdonia, one of the most exceptionally varied and beautiful areas of Great Britain. As a long term resident and ex guide I have a pretty extensive knowledge of everything around should you wish to tap into it. There are also the famous zip wires, the Antur Stiniog downhill biking, Bounce Below and Llechwedd Slate Caverns more our less on our doorstep- the latter also offers a guided tour around the upper quarries in one of the old lorries which everyone says is extremely interesting. And lots more besides!- e.g. Cell B in the town is a great place have a drink in the evening; it is also an excellent little cinema with high quality sound and visuals (the same resolution as Cineworld but on a smaller screen). The Meirion is local pub whose meals have been praised. The Lakeside is a brilliant, very reasonably priced caff in a wonderful setting next to mountains and lake just down the road from us. In the town there also numerous characterful cafes. The Quarryman's Arms is a newly opened and instantly popular eatery that is much praised by people who go there- basic but well cooked meals.
  • Just back from a wonderful stay at Jim’s place. Everything was just perfect. Set in a stunning position the house had everything we needed. Really well equipped kitchen, very comfy bed, and a great place to relax in front of a roaring fire at night. We tried the “Tap”, the local pub up the road and were made very welcome. It was a strange week with the rapid spread of coronavirus, but we reckon we were in the perfect place to be calm whilst all around us was panic buying loo roll and pasta! We’d love to come back again. Good luck to you both during this pandemic. We hope you’re open for business again soon!

  • We had a fantastic experience here in this wonderfully characterful cottage. The cosy accommodation is only a 15 minute walk to town and has a number of easily accessible walks from the door. We also enjoyed some fantastic local attractions and outdoor activities. Our hosts Jim & Ronwen provided plenty of information about the local area and things to do and kindly left us some welcome supplies. A great experience all in.

    Scott2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to stay if you are looking to relax and unwind for a few days! The property is in a perfect location for many different walks and a perfect base for travelling to different locations within Snowdonia . We could not fault Jim and Ronwyn one bit! Incredibly accommodating and more than willing to help with recommendations of places to visit and things to do! We ran out of logs one day and Jim was over in minutes to replenish our stock, in the pouring rain too! I could not recommend this place highly enough! We will definitely be coming back.

    Ethan2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's cottage is perfect. We stayed during a particularly wild Welsh weekend and really enjoyed a cosy stay sheltering from the storm. It had everything we needed. The location is a great base for the coast and other parts of the national park. So nice and would recommend to other travellers!

    Sophie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great! A proper Welsh cottage away from it all. The house is lovely and very clean throughout. Jim is a great host who kept in touch with us to make sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend this place!!

  • My wife and I quietly celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at Pant Goch. It is a beautiful cottage in quite a remarkable setting. Dramatically set against a mountain side with a steam railway track immediately in front of the property (not a busy line though, we neither saw nor heard a train during our 3 night stay!). We were welcomed in the cottage by a already lit coal burning stove, candles, fresh welsh cakes, crumpets for breakfast and a bottle of wine set on the table with two glasses. The bed was very comfy, the shower powerful and hot. The whole cottage was exactly the type of rural welsh retreat we hoped for. Clean, tidy and very cosy. Jim was incredibly friendly and accommodating. For instance, we were running low on coal so after asking if there was any more, literally 5 mins later fresh coal and logs were delivered, with a smile, in the rain! A lovely friendly touch. Also, Jim was able to provide us with very helpful and in-depth info on local walks and amenities. One particular walk recommend was an absolute joy during a sunny January day. The cottage is equipped with games, musical instruments and walking maps. You’ll need nothing more whilst you’re there. We enjoyed three lovely evenings in after long days walking, cooking for ourselves in a well equipped and easy to use traditional kitchen. Jim’s cottage is one of our very favourite places we’ve stayed in the UK. I couldn’t recommend nor commend the place more. Visit Pant Goch, I’m sure like we did you’ll love it! Thanks Jim, see you in the summer! James and Sophie x

  • A great little place to stay if you want to get away from things and relax by the fire for a few days. Good instructions from Jim meant we found the place with no problems. He was a great host, unobtrusive but always available if we needed anything.

Penllwyn is a 19th Century, stone-built, detached cottage, which enjoys an elevated position above the village next to the Blaenau Ffestiniog steam railway line. It is a great base for exploring all that North Wales has to offer; whether you are looking to enjoy the many local outdoor adventure activities, or just want a quiet relaxing retreat next to a roaring log fire.
Penllwyn is full of character, with a traditional woodburner, exposed beams and slate floors. The gardens outside provide views over the valley, as well as plenty of space to sit and watch the steam trains chug right past the garden. Ideal for families, there is a double bedroom with plenty of space for a travel cot (not provided), along with a twin bedroom. The bathroom (with shower) is downstairs. Please note that whilst the cottage is ideal for families, there is a very steep path entrance up to the cottage so small children would need close supervision. However, once inside the gate, the garden is a safe environment for children to play. Amenities: -Electric convector heaters and woodburner in living room -Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, washing machine, TV with Freeview, DVD Player -Nespresso Coffee Machine provided but please bring your own pods! (Difficult to source locally; Lidl/Aldi in Porthmadog have compatible pods if you wish to purchase) -Electricity and starter pack for woodburner included (plenty of places locally selling logs/kindling) -Bed linen and towels included -Roadside parking at the bottom of the path (can drive to cottage for loading/unloading only) -Secure bike storage -Enclosed, fenced garden with furniture and chiminea
Penllwyn is located in the village of Tanygrisiau (which is Welsh for "below the steps", referring to the stepped cliffs above the village). The Moelwyn Mountains protect the village from much of the wind from northerly gales in the winter and give the village a pleasant southerly aspect with relatively mild weather considering its location high in Snowdonia. The village of Tanygrisiau is approximately one mile from the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, or the 'Slate Capital of the World'. The famous Ffestiniog Railway, (a historic narrow gauge railway built to carry slate from the mines down to the port to be shipped at Porthmadog) runs right past the front door of Penllwyn! From March through to November, you can catch the steam train from Bleanau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog and enjoy a historic ride through some spectacular scenery. Blaenau Ffestiniog has a number of shops, cafes and take-aways. It is also home to the renowned Llechwedd Slate Cavern, and the numerous Zip World activities. Penllwyn is also a great starting point for many walks, including climbing Moelwyn Mountain. A great base for exploring the area; Coed-y-Brenin, (one of the best mountain bike centres in the UK), Betws-y-Coed, Portmeirion, Porthmadog and Bala are all within a 30 minute drive.
  • Wonderful miners cottage in fabulous location. Lovely wood burner, very snug and cosy. Would recommend this to all my friends and family. Stunning views and plenty of local facilities in the area. Great base camp to explore the wonderful area of Snowdon national park.

  • We had a great stay, very central to the Snowdonia National Park, so you can easily visit all the sites North, South, East & West. Great for local walks, and the scenery is just amazing! The steam train is definitely a must. Would recommend for all those wanting to visit the Welsh countryside.

    jessica2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage set in an ideal location. Perfect for exploring the local area, or for cozy days/nights lounging in front of the wood burner. The train line being outside the cottage is perfect for anyone who would enjoy it, especially our train mad son!

  • What a charming cottage this is. Such character, comfy beds, everything we needed. We loved the wood burning stove and were very happy to eat in every night as we felt so cosy. The local walks were outstanding, and we fell in love with the steam train chuffing past twice a day.

  • The cottage was perfect for cosy little break! It had everything we needed. Only issue was the living room light flickered when switched on, but we just used the kitchen one instead! Also, probably me just being silly, but the instructions for where the empty the bins were a bit vague...wasn't sure if it was right to put them in the neigbours or not!! But all in all, a brilliant little place & would definitely recommend!

    Emma2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is lovely! We were amazed by all of the mod-cons incorporated into such an old, cosy cottage. We loved the boiling water tap (great way to save work space!) and the heating/hot water system was very easy to use. The electric fire was outstanding - it kept us very warm! And, of course, the hot tub was perfect - it rained the whole time during our stay, as well as being no more than 6°, but that didn't stop us from getting in! It was a fab additional touch. The place was very clean and Ryan had left tea, coffee, sugar and milk for us, along with Welsh cakes, which was really nice of him. The one thing we found was that there were no nice walking places in the local area, so we drove into Betws-y-Coed both days, which was about 40 mins away, but a gorgeous village with lovely walks - we highly recommend it if you like the outdoors! Overall, we had a delightful time in the cottage and would recommend it to anybody!

    Ellie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely and cosy place to stay which was very well decorated. We had the best sleep as the bed is very comfortable. Hot tub is perfect for 2 people and we will definitely be coming back again. Ryan is very helpful and responsive. Thanks for a great stay!

  • The cottage is beautiful, very clean stylish design and the hot tub makes it proper luxurious. The location is fantastic with stunning views of the hills from the property, and easy access to local attractions. Ryan was a fantastic host answering any question very quickly. Will definitely look to book again in the future.

    Ian 2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan's place was a really beautiful spot in Wales! We got a bit lost to the house (I am going to blame it on the fog) but it is on the main road just down the road from the stone bus stop if you also are travelling there at night! Ryan was also amazing when we did get lost and answered his phone straight away so thank you for that! The house was spotless and the bed was super comfy we slept so well! The place is really close to lots of attractions in Snowdonia and you can see the mountains from the house! Would definitely stay again!

    Chelsea2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan’s place was cosy yet stylish, and was equipped with modern touches such as an instant hot water tap and a gas fire. We were left lovely little touches such as slippers for the hot tub, welsh cakes and milk which made us feel very welcome. The hot tub was lovely and didn’t require pre heating. The bed was very comfy and the space as a whole was perfect, the pictures don’t do it justice. Located in a lovely area of Snowdonia which felt remote but with easy access to local amenities such as shops and pubs. Close to lots of lovely walks. Would 100% recommend!

  • This was a perfect place to stay for us. You can find everything thing you need utensil wise and facilities for cooking full meals. The whole house was spotless clean and very homely, with the added extra of a log fire. Very welcoming. Perfect location for getting to Porthmadog, which was great for us as we wanted to enjoy the Highland Railway. Amazing location too to get to a wide range of Castles and other walks. As well as being close enough for us to drive to Snowdon for more hiking. Be sure to check out Betws y coed on the way to or from Snowdon!

  • This is definitely the best air bnb I’ve stayed in. So many lovely finishing touches, well equipped, everything you need for a weeks holiday. The area is great to be honest everything was great I couldn’t fault it x

  • Lovely cottage, excellent base to visit Snowdonia and North Wales. Also really nice walks just around the corner. So good we extended our stay! Thoughtful, caring hosts - the house had everything we needed and more (Welsh goodies included!).

    João2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Stay here! It is absolutely gorgeous. Decorated well, beautiful multi fuel burner, comfortable beds, all the essentials and extra touches were fantastic. What we didn't realise when booking was how incredible the surroundings are! Just around the corner are beautiful waterfalls, hills, a railway and lake. We were shocked at the beauty when we walked to breakfast on the first day (The Lakeside Cafe), as we'd arrived in the dark. The cottage itself is quiet and perfect for our needs, Angie responds quickly and is lovely, and its dog friendly - who could ask for more? We will definitely be back as we didn't manage to explore everything we wanted to in the area.

Situated in a quiet area of Blaenau Ffestiniog, our place contains a ground floor en-suite, single room, with central heating and access to lounge and kitchen area. Our place is close to the following: Blaenau Ffestiniog railway station - ten minute walk. Llechwedd Slate Mines (where you'll find Zip World, and Bounce Below) - fifteen to twenty minute walk or five minute drive. We have a single bed but can accommodate a second guest. We have a floor mattress or a camp bed if needed.
The room has a single bed, however we have a floor mattress or camp bed, sleeping bags, duvets and pillows for a second guest if needed. Please note that with a second bed the space can be cramped so make sure your both comfortable with each other. We have a Border Collie named Tess - she is a year old and very friendly. She loves canine company, so if you have a well behaved pooch, by all means bring them along. We also have a secure back garden, with plenty of space.

  • What a charming cottage in a stunning location. My friend and I were visting the area to climb Mt Snowdon, so I was looking for local accommodation that was comfortable to call our base. The cottage didn't dissapoint. Our backdrop was a beautiful mountain and our backround noise was a babbling stream. An added perk was the steam train that went past right outside the back door. Mt Snowdon was an hour away by car but I don't think I could ever tire of the breathtaking views. The cottage was clean and had everything we could ask for. Communication with the host was without problems. I would highly recommend this cottage if you too want to climb Snowdon or just take the natural beauty of North Wales.

This comfortable, updated stone-built cottage is the ideal base for an adventurous break in the Snowdonia National Park. For shopping,Restaurants etc a short drive or 25 minute walk gets you to Llanberis, which is also a centre for outward bound pursuits including climbing, canoeing, wild swimming, paddle boarding, triathlons and the list goes on... While here why not visit the REAL castle of Merlin the Magician, or a unique coastal hilltop stone age village-no entry fees !
  • We had a great stay at Tom’s cottage. A lovely, well equipped little house with everything you might need - great to have a big kitchen with a nespresso machine etc! Cosy and warm. The location is unbeatable - 5 mins drive from both llanberis and the pen y pass car park. Beautiful views outside and a great traditional pub next door! Tom was lovely and very hospitable during our stay. Thank you!

    Beth2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay in a fantastic location. Would stay again!

    Liz2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Tom’s hospitality, warm welcome and attentiveness was a great addition to our amazing time staying in Nant Peris for our Snowdon climb. Highly recommend this accommodation with an added bonus of a good old traditional boozer next door having great pub grub.

  • Excellent location, well kept. Tom is very knowledgable about the local area and is a superb host.

    Will2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very modern and much more spacious than we expected very quite location but that’s what we wanted very neutral to explore the natural Beaty of Snowdonia thanks Tom for being a great host

    Pamela2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We’d like to thank Tom so much for his hospitality during our stay in the cottage. We had a lovely time despite the weather being pretty awful, but it was a lovely break away. The cottage was pretty much what we had expected from reading the reviews and Tom couldn’t have been a better host. We really appreciated his quick responses to our messages and he was even kind enough to give us a lift into the village one evening to save on taxi fares. We weren’t able to get up Snowdon this time due to the weather but it is perfectly situated for it and we may be back in the summer! ☺️ There is WiFi however this can be a bit temperamental and slow, and with there being no signal, it’s perfect for anyone wanting to shut off the real world for a few days - although we did get signal just a few minutes drive away. There is a lovely little pub next door which do nice food and has a nice open fire! Overall we enjoyed our quiet break away and the cottage is nice and cosy. Would definitely recommend!

    Laura2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding hospitality and fabulous location. Tom lives right next door and is a wonderful host; there if you need him with speedy responses, but otherwise leaves you to it. Cottage is clean and homely with plenty of amenities. It's right next to a public footpath which trails being the property into beautiful views. Big supermarkets are about 20mins drive away, but there's a Spar in Llanberis which is 5 mins drive away. Thanks again Tom for a lovely stay!

    Eleanor2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ideally located place for climbing Snowdon and other walks around the area also easily accessed. The place itself has everything you could need and Tom personally showed where everything was and was around if we had any issues. A great place to stay!

  • Such a great place :) Stylish cottage situated in heart of Snowdonia... Definitely we would like to book it again....

    Michal2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our first airbnb and this was a pleasure! The location is great we hardly moved the car all weekend! First day we went to Betws-y-coed on the way in then stocked up at tescos for the night! Next day the snowdon walks book there is a nice but fairly technical walk in there that took us a fair bit of the day! Next day we walked down to the station caught the train spent the day by the beach and came back! Few mentions the cottage is amazing, we wondered about parking but we never struggled at all! Theres a door to keep the dogs downstairs like the house rules so no need to bring a babygate! (Especially if you have a naughty pug)! Fish and chip shop is very good and the quarrymans arms is lovely for a meal aswell!

    Lewis2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had a lovely stay at Lisa's place. Lisa was very helpful in offering ideas to local attractions and places to eat, which was a great help. Our valley cottage is ideal for couples. It is a small but perfectly formed 500 year old dwelling nestled in the idyllic Nantmor Valley near to Beddgelert with walks, along rivers and lanes or over the hills and mountains, all from the front door The outside offers you gorgeous views or you can sit & gaze out onto the hills through the wall of glass from inside this pretty home The woodburner is perfect for those precious evenings of simply relaxing together and enjoying the tranquility
Looking straight out onto the hills and with mountains beyond, this little home is warm and cosy in winter and sunny and bright in the summer. We have plans to add even more to this lovely space over time including a wood fired hot-tub but presently, the landscaping is presently basic with the garden mainly laid to lawn. It has a patio area and a bistro table and chairs to enjoy the wonderful views overlooking the paddocks and hills and.of course, a glass of bubbly. There is a small ensuite shower room, a pretty bedroom with a king sized bed, Living room with the most comfortable settee ever (well, we think so) and a woodburning stove to snuggle up in front of. The kitchen is fully equipped with Bosch dishwasher, oven and hob, a hood extractor fan, a fridgefreezer and a microwave (we offer a free laundry service) There is a bistro dining table and tub chairs in which to sit and relax while looking out at the views through the full length glass gable end. For anyone looking for guests to join them, we also have two rooms in our own home that may be available, please see our other listings for details.
We are in the Snowdonia National Park, a short car ride to Mount Snowdon or a longer walk of four miles to get to the Watkins Path. Our local village is Beddgelert, a pretty mountain community with pubs, restaurants, gift shops and a general and post office store. The exhilarating zip wire rides at Blaenau Ffestiniog are nearby and Bethesda (the largest and fastest in the world) is just a twenty five minute drive. For a more sedate pace, we have some of the loveliest beaches within easy reach and golf courses of high standards including the Royal St David at Harlech. Spring brings the opening of cafes and coffee shops in which to enjoy a bit of people watching, not something you can do in the cottage but you will see the odd sheep, horse or goat!
  • Fantastic secluded location with amazing views over the river and woods. Very quiet and peaceful so perfect for relaxing and time alone. • Leaving 5 stars does not do this cottage justice. The cottage itself is incredible, very well equipped, cosy, comfortable and clean. Susie is a great host, and we loved the thoughtful touches on arrival (our name on the gate to welcome us, and little treats in the fridge). The location is beautiful, great for walking and really peaceful. We didn’t want to leave, we will definitely return in the future!

  • Fabulous cosy cottage deep in the beautiful Snowdonia park. Easy drive to the mountains, forests and beaches. Caroline is a great host - really quick to respond to any questions, and really helpful. And you have to try the Kings Head - a short walk up the street. The owners were so friendly and are quite happy to have your dog in the bar. I would happily recommend this cottage and this host - you won’t be disappointed.

Cosy, welcoming end-terrace stone cottage, in the old slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, ‘the town that roofed the world’. Llwyn Hir really is an ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts, climbers, walkers, paddlers, mountain bikers or indeed anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxing or exciting break in this area of outstanding natural beauty. Titan Zip world, Bounce Below, Slate Caverns, Downhill Mountain Bike Trails, Ffestiniog Railway, and the National Whitewater centre are all nearby.
Small, but perfectly formed! Our cottage has been recently renovated to a high standard and comprises of an open plan area downstairs with a wood-burner (perfect for a relaxing evening after a day in the mountains), comfy sofa, table and chairs for 4 and a modern kitchen (although no microwave). In addition to the stove there is a heater downstairs and one in each bedroom, plus a heater in the bathroom, so you should be cosy! The bathroom is downstairs and although small is newly decorated with a bath and an electric shower. Upstairs (quite steep stairs and no stair gate) we have two bedrooms, one with a double bed and enjoying magnificent views over the Moelwyn Mountains and a second, smaller bedroom with bunkbeds. Please note that the window in the back bedroom is not childproof ( it needs to open wide for fire safety) the lock can be opened by pressing the button, there is a key on key ring by back door if you want to keep it locked. There are no wardrobes (due to space) but there are large chests of drawers in both rooms and hooks on backs of doors. To the rear of the cottage is a small patio with steep stone steps (the path is uneven with no handrail and sometimes slippy, so take care!) leading up to a wooden studio with breathtaking views (you may want to spend your whole holiday here!). From mid autumn to early spring we leave a complementary ‘log pack’ for wood burner, extra supplies of wood and kindling are readily available at the Coop and MColls in the town. Please note that there is no fire guard. There is private, off-road parking outside the cottage. Please note that although the property can sleep four it might be a bit of a squeeze with 4 adults and is better suited to couples or small families.
Sitting in the heart of Snowdonia, Blaenau Ffestiniog, a village hugged by the mountains is the perfect location for you if you are looking for a relaxing break or an action packed adventure. The cottage is around a mile south of the main Blaenau village, in the area of Manod. There is walking, climbing, mountain-biking, and a host of exciting rainy day activities all accessible from the village. Often described as “the town that roofed the world” Blaenau Ffestiniog also has an interesting history to explore. Travel a few miles further afield and the wealth of activities on hand in Snowdonia national park will keep you active for the whole of your stay I am sure. Titan Zip world, Bounce Below, Slate Caverns, Downhill Mountain Bike Trails, Ffestiniog Railway, and the National Whitewater centre are all nearby
  • Really enjoyed our stay. Superb location and the property had everything we needed. We will certainly book again

  • We had a wonderful break at the cottage. It was lovely and cozy in the evening with the log burner! It was the perfect mix of traditional cottage with modern comfort - well heated, great shower, oven etc.! It was also in a great location for exploring beautiful Snowdonia - Snowdon, amazing coastlines and Portmeirion are an easy drive away and the zipworld caverns are just minutes down the road. Mandy was really helpful, friendly and available to answer any questions. We would stay again!

    Emily2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • A cute, cosy cottage with everything we needed in a lovely little town with all the amenities you would need. We loved having this house to come back to after a nice hike or a day exploring the surrounding villages and coastal towns. We really felt at home and felt sad to leave. Beautiful views and welcoming people in the town. Mandy was a great host and we would definitely return in the future.

An original slate miner's cottage built in the late 1800’s. Located in the slate capital of the world, offering a true taste of the past, but with the benefit of modern living. Our cottage is right next to the crossing for the Ffestiniog narrow gauge steam railway. We are conveniently located within walking distance of Llechedd Slate Mountain Adventure, Zip World and Bounce Below. A five-minute walk will take you into town, where there are shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.
Situated in the heart of Snowdonia, as well as its interesting history as a former slate mining town, Blaenau Ffestiniog offers a narrow gauge steam railway, the famous Llechwedd Zip World, Blaenau-Ffestiniog is also a popular destination for walkers with Snowdon around a half hour drive, Tryfan close by and Antur Stiniog for mountain bikers. The property offers two bedrooms, with many original features. Downstairs is a cosy, open plan living area, with Satellite television, super fast Wi-Fi (70-80Mbps) ambient lighting and a fully equipped kitchen. To the back of the property is a shower room and a space which houses the washing machine and dryer. Upstairs are two bedrooms, the master has a double bed and views of the railway. The children's room has bunk-beds and appealing decor. The front garden offers a sitting area to watch the trains and relax with your favourite drink surrounded by views of the mountains. We’ve had some confusion over recent weeks regarding the original stove. It has been left in as an historical feature as we love it but is no longer in service. The cottage has storage heaters, which keep the everything very warm and cosy. There are also 2 oil filled radiators for those especially chilly winter nights.
There is always plenty to do for all ages! Here are just a few of the many local attractions: Portmeirion Portmeirion is one of Wales' premier visitor attractions, with free parking, complimentary guided tours and audio visual show, six cafes and restaurants, half a dozen shops, gardens and beaches it is the perfect day out for all the family. Llechwedd Slate Mountain Adventure, Zip world and Bounce Below. Be ready for an experience of a lifetime, as you are on the doorstep of one of Wales top attractions! With Quarry Explorer, Llechwedd Deep Mine Tour, Titan zip line and an underground trampolining experience. Walking The best footpaths in Snowdinia! The Vale of Ffestiniog boasts a huge range of walks within stunning scenery, often away from the crowds of tourists that flock to other, perhaps, well more known areas of Snowdonia. Walks include the Cwmorthin, Rhosydd and the Cwm Bowydd trails. The Cynfal waterfall. The Vale of Ffestiniog Way. And the Dyffryn Maentwrog and Llyn Mair walks.
  • The cottage was lovely and homely and got us into the Welsh spirit. Perfect size for a small family and great location for exploring Snowdonia. We appreciated the small touches such as milk and the lovely soaps!

  • Angi's adorable little cottage was the perfect pad for our weekend away in wales. The cottage is in a perfect location for exploring wales and down the road from zip world slate caverns. Its been beautifully decorated with fairy lights and they even put colouring books, toys and teddies in the children's bedroom which was such a lovely touch! The cupboards and fridge were even stocked up with condiments and fresh milk which was fantastic! The attention to detail in this place really make this cottage a wonderful stay for all the family. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Amazing touches, the biscuits went down a treat after our long walk! I loved that Joanna was so organised and gave us some really wonderful walk recommendations, too. • We came for a hiking weekend and loved the cottage. It's cosy, clean and had everything we needed and more. Loved the fireplace after being battered by wind and rain all day on our hike! Joanna was super helpful with directions and recommendations for walks and pubs (note the village is small, so options at walking distance are limited, but that's part of the charm!)

    Ellen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage perfectly situated within snowdonia. Would highly recommend!

    Mark2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is exactly as described with everything provided, a real home from home. Joanna was very friendly - warm and welcoming. She knows a great deal about the area and has provided a lot of useful information on where to go to eat/shop/walk etc.. We went in February and although it was cold and wet we had a wonderful time exploring. There is so much to see and do - no time to be bored. The scenery is breathtaking and we found some great beaches. Definitely worth a visit.

My cottage is perched high above Blaenau FFestiniog with stunning views in a quiet residential area but only a few minutes walk from the town centre. It is beautifully warm in the winter and in the summer catches the sun from dawn until dusk. Zip World, Bounce Below , the LLechwedd Slate Caverns and the FFestiniog Railway are all close by.
CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTIONS - I take the safety of guests seriously and during this epidemic there is a free day between all bookings. All surfaces, door handles, key safe, hand rails etc are thoroughly cleaned and bed linen is being given an extra long wash. The cottage is centrally heated and consists of a lounge/kitchen/ diner, double bedroom, bathroom and utility room. The kitchen is well equipped with gas cooker, microwave, slow cooker and fridge with freezer compartment. There is a dining table with three chairs and the lounge has a comfy sofa and chair. The cottage is equipped with a Freesat TV with a DVD player and a small library of DVD's, some books and games. Free WiFi is available. There is also a handy utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs there is a roomy double bedroom with stunning views from the window. The bathroom consists of a bath with overhead electric Mira shower. Bed linen and towels are provided and gas/electricity are included in the price. Outside there is a front garden with bench and the rear terraced garden has a table and chairs and a gas BBQ. There are steep steps to the front door and the rear garden. The cottage is available for 2 nights from November to Easter but there is a surcharge of £15 for cleaning for this short break. Please see other things to note.
The cottage is in a very quite terrace in the Summerhill area of Blaenau Ffestiniog and is only a few minutes walk from the town centre and all its amenities which include three small supermarkets which stay open late. There is a dog friendly pub, Y Meirion, at the bottom of the hill which also serves good food and Cell B, which does excellent food, is dog friendly as well. Superb food is also to be found at Red Chillies - the Indian restaurant. The Ffestiniog Railway is a short stroll away and Zip World is within walking distance. Cell B not only does food but also boasts a small cinema and often provides entertainment on a Saturday night. Walks from the cottage lead straight into the mountains.

  • If you are looking for home away from home, this is your place! I was able to cook my meals, go on adventures and not have the stress of being far away from where its at. Great price, lovely cottage, great if you have a car, bus stops just round the corner. Very convenient

  • Margaret's place is really cosy! Thoughtful touches made it welcoming and comfortable. Great location for walking and beautiful scenery - we didn't need to drive anywhere the whole weekend as there is so much to see on foot. Kitchen is well equipped too for people who like to cook! Thoroughly recommend.

  • A very lovely cottage. Cosy and warm when the weather is tough! The cottage is just as described. We arrived and if was spotlessly clean. We had a little trouble with the lockbox but Maggie was on the phone straight away to help us. The instructions we were sent led us straight there with no problems at all. We found that using Google Maps to the Co-Op and then Maggie's instructions was perfect. The best thing about this cottage is that you're so close to so many hikes and the views are incredible. Maggie has lots of recommendations in the cottage for you to choose from.
