Places to stay in Tapawera
Luxury modern studio with private spa pool and luxury furnishings, set peacefully above the banks of the Motueka River. Situated in our 55 acre rare breed farm, with trout fishing and a swimming hole at the foot of the drive and bush walks up to the top of the hill, the Sanctuary is a place to relax, unwind and switch off to the sound of the river, native birds and very little else. Guests report "this leg of our honeymoon has been the most relaxing, memorable and tasty of the trip so far".
The Sanctuary is a modern studio with private spa pool on the deck overlooking the valley and the river, an enclosed garden suitable for a small dog, and luxury furniture and fittings - "everything you could ask for" according to guests. We feature local artwork and our own photographs around the space, with everything designed for a couple to have a relaxing break away from it all. Situated up a long private drive through paddocks of sheep, past the olive grove and fruit orchard, the Sanctuary commands a view northwards up the valley. Designed for two, we can cater for infants in a cot on request (no extra charge). Everything here is provided for your stay - luxury linen and towels, bath robes for the spa, eco-friendly toiletries etc., along with free range eggs from the farm, homemade preserves, muesli and bread and fresh milk.
The Havens is located about 25 minutes south of Motueka on the banks of the Motueka River. We are about 55 minutes from Nelson airport, 90 minutes from the Nelson lakes, 5 minutes from the Kahurangi National Park and 45 minutes from Abel Tasman. Situated just on the edge ofthe Nelson Taste Trail - one of the best known cycle trails in New Zealand. We are about 15 minutes from the nearest takeaway, store, petrol station or pub - so bring your own food or talk to us in advance to stock the Sanctuary for you. Our local pub is the Moutere Inn - a fantastic place to drop in for an evening, with great beer (reminds me of home and English country pubs!), good food and some good local music too.
  • I highly recommend staying here for a few days to relax and check out the gorgeous valley. The farm itself is lovely. The sheep were very curious about my campervan. I loved the complimentary bread. Best AirBnB experience I have had by far.

  • If you are seeking solitude and love the sounds of nature, Sanctuary will be a good fit for you. Everything you could possibly need has been thought of and provided in a very efficient space. Richard, Susan and Cassie are attentive and friendly hosts. Two things you should know before you go: 1) while private, the unit and particularly the hot tub are in general view of the hosts home. 2) for longer stays, be prepared to cook meals because the dining options are few and far. (We LOVED the Moutere Inn!). As others have said and it’s worth repeating, this property has a million dollar view. Simply stunning. Awesome rental. We are grateful to the hosts for sharing it with us.

  • The sanctuary really lived up to its name! Such incredible hospitality from Sue and Richard and a wonderful space to unwind and enjoy nature on their land. Cannot recommend enough for a great respite on the South Island.

  • The Sanctuary has a beautiful view of mountain ranges. The cottage has a good combination of a great rustic feel and modern comfort. Both Richard and Sue are super hosts! They provide farm-fresh eggs, milk, orange juice and other great amenities. Sue is a superb cook. My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • A fantastic place, unbelievable views from the accommodation which is superbly appointed. Very welcoming hosts who left nothing out.

    Steve2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a special, tucked away little spot of New Zealand. We feel so incredibly lucky to have been able to stay here; if only our trip were a little longer to have booked in longer! Richard and Sue are so incredibly welcoming and full of knowledge, from detailed information on the area, to seeing the animals they are raising (the cutest little sheep, ducks, chickens) and their sweet dogs Archie and Toffee. They are building something special here and you’d be lucky to stay here and see a snippet of that. Amazing fresh bread and homemade spreads, fresh eggs, milk and OJ, coffee/tea, homemade muesli from their own nut trees, everything for an amazing healthy breakfast. Their orchard is incredible. The shower and bathroom is huge and sparkling clean, and we had the best sleep in the bed. Wifi was very speedy. Richard even took the time to show TJ the best fishing spots. The views here will leave you breathless. Don’t miss this special spot, book right now!

  • A great place for more than one night in a beautiful valley. Very friendly hosts.

    Thomas2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Have to say out of all the places we have stayed doing the great taste trail this one was the best. The hosts were lovely and the accommodation was fantastic with so many thoughtful touches and really quality furnishings we were really impressed. Even the outdoor spa was really clean and such a wonderful addition. Also the value for the quality is really excellent, again in relation to more expensive but less quality places we have stayed at on the trip. Highly recommended and if we are ever this way again would be a place we would be keen to stay at, especially ads romantic get away without the kids next time (but was really family friendly if you bring them along).

    Rachel2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, very handy to the event we attended, and Donna was super welcoming, sharing fruit from her trees and making us feel very welcome

    Judi2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay (metres from the TA route, for those interested), a hose and brush to wash the bike, very clean accommodation in a perfectly sized, separate building with all that you need. Donna was really considerate and accommodating with checking in as I arrived quite late and very tired. I had a great stay and can thoroughly recommend the Studio.

    Harry2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous spot on the country

    Kathy2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Good and quiet place! Has all the facilities you need. Donna was a very friendly host.

    Fredrik Larsen2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Authentic pleasure to have stayed at Donna’s place. She was so nice to us and gave us good information about the surroundings ! Great location to avoid 5h drive between Abel Tasman and Westport. We really appreciated the fruits from the garden and fresh milk ! We felt like home and watched local tv shows like true kiwis ^^ Totally recommended !

    Florian2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • I had an excellent stay at Donna's studio. The studio is super clean, comfortable and comes equiped with everything you need for a short stay. Fresh fruit was also provided which is a nice touch. There is a parking lot right next to the studio which made loading and unloading bags easier. Although there is no wifi, I can confirm that there is good 3G reception in the studio. Donna is a very friendly and attentive host. Communication was easy and prompt. Would have loved to stay longer, will definitely try to book Donna's studio if I am back in the area again!

Our log cabin is located on a 50acre lifestyle farm in a hidden valley an hour south of Nelson and 40 minutes north of Murchison. It is peaceful and private with stunning mountain views and space to relax. With no traffic noise, the only sounds you will hear are the native birdsong and the Little Hope River running gently beside the property.
We are fully off the grid and operate our own hydro-electricity unit and solar water heating. There are no power lines, no internet reception and no cellphone coverage. Come to us for a break from technology, reconnect with the natural surroundings and recharge your soul. Past guests often tell us it is so relaxing here they wish they’d stayed longer, so if you have the time consider staying an extra night or two. The river running through the property offers many scenic river walks to swimming holes, picnic spots and even an old railway bridge. We run a lifestyle farm on our side of the property, and you are most welcome to come and meet the animals and learn a little of what we do. Triple Tui is located in one of New Zealand’s best trout fishing areas. Your host Steve is an experienced fly-fishing and hunting guide, and would be more than happy to arrange a fly-fishing or hunting expedition for your stay. Our log cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway where you can simply relax and unwind.
We are up a quiet rural valley, so you will mostly hear birds and the river. Not many cars venture passed us in a day. You will have total peace and tranquility.
  • Their place was amazing! We absolutely loved the nature - the views from the cabin, the sound of the river, our hike up the river to the old train bridge, the animals, and our nice indoor fire. It was so peaceful being off the grid and we wished we could have stayed longer. It was very private. Tracey was very friendly and kind and we enjoyed our chats with her. We loved the adventurous car trek through the paddocks to the cabin as well :) This was a very memorable experience and we would definitely return.

    Rebekah2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and quiet place near river scenery, kind and helpful host.

    Klara2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely relaxing stay here, very cozy with beautiful surroundings.

    Joanna2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Tracey's place! Gorgeous cabin that is very cozy and relaxing. Off the grid with full privacy. Would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away and have time away from Wifi and phone reception. We enjoyed wandering the property and sitting on the porch in the sun. Thanks again for an awesome stay!

    Ann2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, tranquil, a great location over a wee swingbridge & a cool log cabin

    Sarah2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a special place! Being cut-off from WiFi and mobile network, we enjoyed our time a lot. The lodge is completely built of wood. A beautiful place with a warm atmosphere in the forest. River close by and lots of nature will recharge your soul.

    Peter2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise with us! It was a great place to getaway for the long weekend- even though it rained most of the time! The fireplace and DVD selection was great!

"The Chocolate Yurt" is a fully insulated 6m yurt with a skylight to gaze at the stars at night. A private retreat in the native bush with outdoor kitchen with cooking facilities and bath/shower, both with amazing views of the Motueka river valley and the Tasman Bay beyond.
Our yurt resides in an eco village in the Motueka river valley, 15 minutes from Motueka. The handcrafted wooden furniture gives it a warm, inviting atmosphere. A woodburner provides warmth for the winter months.
Our yurt is surrounded by native bush and often you wake up with the song of the bellbird and fall asleep with the sound of the morepork. Our neighbours are all happily living in this beautiful spot
  • Very nice place to stay and relax! Amazing views and also very eco friendly.

    Nick2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • All we can say is WOW! The most amazing, peaceful and luxury place. Our favourite Air BnB ever, we highly recommend this place to anyone, we will be booking to come back again later on in the year. The outdoor shower was a highlight for us. If you need to have a break, this is the place to come with the birds chirping in the morning it can't get any better. Thanks so much again, Amy & Kane

    Amy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our mini getaway to the yurt. Everything has been built and is operated with love, care and thoughtfulness. It’s such a peaceful retreat and we’ll certainly be returning and are already recommending it to friends. Thank you to Tessa, Remko and family for the experience x

    Emily2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Words cannot express the uniqueness of the stay. It was perfect in every way and so much more than expected. Our hosts made the experience perfect. This will be a holiday we will remember for a very long time. Book with no reservation, you will love this yurt!

    George2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to relax and unwind. The views are fantastic and the yurt is cosy and comfortable. It was so good to enjoy such a basic yet enriching way of living, we would have liked to stay longer.

    Joyce2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Can not speak more highly of Tessa and Remkos yurt and our whole experience staying in such beautiful surroundings. The yurt is cozy and creates a sense of calm the moment you step in. The surroundings are stunning, go explore! We recommend you have the offered breakfast because its yummy and the perfect way to start the day. Tessas massage is a wonderful addition too. After weeks of chronic shoulder pain I floated out feeling not just physically better but mentally and emotionally positive. You will not regret staying in this special place and meeting these special people.

    Shane2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Brand new to the Yurtlife Experience and would love to do it all over again! The views were amazing and the baths were brilliant! As for the yurt itself it was warm the bed was amazing! Remko was a fabulous host and gave us a little tour when we arrived !

    Simon2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt is indescribably beautiful! We immediately felt at home and enjoyed every moment. The outdoor kitchen and shower have their very own charm. I have never showered with such a beautiful view! I can recommend the accommodation to anyone who is looking for peace and relaxation and wants to be in the middle of nature. A small Weka family also visited us from time to time

A cute wee cottage for a hideaway. Surrounded by trees and bird life in a peaceful setting. The Motueka River is a 5 min walk. We have a sculpture garden and gallery on site showcasing the work of David Carson. We are a great central location for Nelson, Motueka, Kaiteriteri and Nelson lakes. We are conveniently located just 2.5km from the Great Taste cycle trail with work starting on the link up with Tapawera this year. Fully self contained cottage. Ideal for a couple or up to a family of 4.
Sculpture garden and gallery on site. Free entry for airbnb guests during opening hours. Fish or swim in the Motueka river.
  • Rachel’s cottage was a comfortable, quiet, and relaxing place to stay. It has a large number of amenities so that we were able to make ourselves dinner and stay in rather than have to drive into town. The cottage is cozy and hidden in the trees so that there’s plenty of privacy. If we come to the area again, we’ll definitely return!

    Casey2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute gem along the Motueka River. The cabin is so beautiful - you could stay forever. Rachel and her husband were great, we had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back!

    Jessica2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very special, great details and architecture, perfect comfort and service. Thanks!

    Matthias2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This space is a lovely retreat into the mountains behind Nelson. A cosy atmosphere in the cottage that is surrounded by enchanting landscape

    Emily2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at Rachel's place. I would recommend it to anyone.

    Kennen2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • A peaceful and lovely location nestled in the trees. Not completely quiet, with the buzz of cicadas though (and a hint of sound from the occasional passing car on the road above), but very restful and relaxing. And yet, within easy reach of a lot of wonderful places. Fully featured cooking equipment, great SMEG oven, large fridge, and a table for four indoors. Comfortable beds, lots of seating indoors and out. You won't be disappointed by the space, even if an occasional rainy day means spending it indoors. Rachel was really nice, keen to help out and get us settled in. She knew a lot about the area too. Mobile phone reception is quite limited, but we managed to connect eventually (even if it mean putting the mobile phone right by the window). No WiFi in the property (a plus for us), but you can get connected during 'office hours' nearby. As far as we could see there was no TV reception either but there were a few books and a DVD player (which we didn't use). This was everything it was advertised to be, and we had a really great stay there.

    Kwai Yoke2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Not enough stars available for Rachael. The place is amazing with character and the sculpture garden they have created well worth a visit.

    Mark2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful and relaxing private hidden gem. Cottage is cosy and has everything you need for a relaxing and peaceful getaway from busy life. Kitchen is great, when a full sized fridge, gas stove and full size oven. Baby bunnies playing outside the bedroom window made mornings and evenings a delight. Love the private deck with bbq and table and space in the back yard with fruit trees and bird life. Petanque (boules) game on the lawn was fun 🙂 Rachel is friendly and helpful and fast to reply to all communications. Highly recommend the Hidden Cottage.

Self contained with bathroom & laundry facilities, lounge (with pullout extra double bed and wood range), kitchen, dining area, bedroom with Queen size bed. Is attached to the main house but completely private, set in a 2 acre garden.
We are central to four National Parks' all within an hours drive.
Wakefield is a small village with a wonderful community feeling. Most things are available in the village but there is not much night life, so our apartment is more suitable for guests with their own vehicle (there is easy parking), and is great for guests who want to explore Tasman and the local National parks.
  • Valery appartment has everything you could want and lots of space. She also has a beautiful garden. Both she and her husband have a lot they can tell you, if you want

  • Staying at Valeries and Ewans place feel so familar. I got a very warm welcome, fresh flowers out of the garden for my room and a wonderful very delicious dinner. We had very interesting talks, both are so open minded and interested to other countries, people and way of thinking. I had a room in their house, absolute private inspite of the shared bathroom. All the rooms are very clean, breakfast was very attentive to the habits in my homecountry. The view from my room was wonderful time their garden, in the background the hills. They gave me good tips for my further travel and spots for the next days. It was a wonderful stay at Valeries and Ewans place, I regret just staying for one night. I highly recommend that place!

    Nadine2019-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best Airb&b we have stayed in. A very spacious apartment in a beautiful 2 acre garden with very generous hosts. Extremely good value and we would highly recommend staying in this ideal location

    Susan2019-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts were fantastic; very welcoming and hospitable. They went the extra mile to ensure our stay was more than comfortable. Highly recommended!

    Peter2018-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Valerie and Ewan’s place was the highlight of our trip to New Zealand so far. They made us feel welcome and showed us around their beautiful gardens when we arrived. They both gave us loads of tips on what to do in the area and gave us an insight into some of the history surrounding wakefield. The apartment itself is beautifully set out. The pictures don’t show quite how big it is and it has everything you would need for a short or long term stay. We would highly recommend this place to anyone and we would come back in a heartbeat if we could.

    Gemma2018-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Valerie and Ewan’s place is amazing! They have a beautiful garden and the apartment opens up onto a lovely private section of it, with your own table. It’s idyllic even just staying inside and looking at the garden! So many thoughtful bits of food were left for us and the kitchen has everything you need, including a coffee machine and weighing scales! Really quiet, peaceful area making for a great night’s sleep. Valerie and Ewan are so kind and welcoming and full of lots of love and local advice! Would highly recommend and I think it’s a good base for seeing all that nelson has to offer as well as the west coast.

This tiny room is suitable for single person who is backpacking and does not want to stay in a hostel dorm. It is a warm, sunny room with garden view. It has only a bed, desk and chair. Storage is under bed.
Full use of all facilities in the house (kitchen, dinning, lounge and deck).
Richmond has many of nature reserve with great walking and MTB tracks.
  • This is a great alternative to back-packing - much more personal and stress-free. Ola & Jeremy are very friendly and easy to deal with, nothing is ever a problem. Also the place itself is very handily located in Richmond - 5 mins to supermarkets etc. I would happily stay there again (and probably will!).

    Scott2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ola and Jeremy were very kind as to let me extend my stay by an extra week as I couldn't find any other affordable place in Nelson over the first 2 weeks of the new year. When I arrived Jeremy came out to help me with my luggage. I loved their modern kitchen and was allowed to use it as and when I needed to cook. You can be sure the place is kept clean - the kitchen is wiped down almost daily and bathroom is cleaned every few days. Guests may also do laundry here with the hosts' washing and clothes are line-dried out back. The balcony lets you have alfresco dining and also sun your shoes if you need. They were generous with their tips on what to do and where to find work in the area. Be sure to follow the instructions for using the kitchen and bathroom. Bracken and Clover (the dogs) were very friendly and lovely to have around!

    Clare2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • I'm so glad that I have found a wonderful place and a great host in Richmond for my first month in New Zealand. I always felt that I'm in another home away from home. Love the two doggies Braken & Clover too. Thanks Ola & Jeremy for everything.

Heaps of local info in the folders for bike rides and walks. It’s at the end of the owners driveway but nicely screened off and feels very private. Would stay again.

  • Newly renovated place in a beautiful setting ... we just love feeling butterflies in our stomach when we’re approaching an unknown airbnb spot and this was so so much better than the average listing. Pheasants (and then the hosts) welcoming us was a cherry on top of an already very tasteful cake.

  • Weka cottage is a lovely place for anyone who wants all the comforts of home in a beautiful river valley with mountains all around. Nicky is a fabulous hostess and the cottage is really charming with full green views. We only stayed 3 nights but would have loved to stay longer. We climbed Mount Arthur which was really close and swam in the river across the road, baked our favourite things we needed for more camping and tramping. Nicky has a yoga studio. Wish we had done a class! It was really nice to be able to feed the chooks and enjoy Cora the gentlest dog we've ever met. Awesome place. Would definitely come back if it's available again.

    Lou2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to be immerse into nature this place offers that, the Weka cottage were my family and I stayed recently was spacious, cozy, and beautiful outdoor. It was clean and tidy. The setting is idyllic...lush green spaces, tall trees, bird sounds and the rapidly flowing Motueka river lulling you to sleep. The location lends itself to all the natural beauty of the Abel Tasman Region..heaps of exploring, great trout fishing..nice to return to a quiet place away from the crowds. We loved the BBQ at sunset and actually stayed 2 extra nights! Excellent for couples, small families and definitely highly recommended!!

I stayed in a room within her house and it was great: comfy large bed & bedroom, great shower pressure and she had a great kitchen she was happy to share. • The best Airbnb we've ever stayed! The space is so cute and they've really put a lot of special touches into it. We came home to fresh eggs and honey, milk, special beverages in the fridge, chocolates with our towels. It was so cozy! We loved walking around the little farm exploring. Fell in love with the massive pigs and loved watching the turkeys boss around the sheep. If we lived in NZ this would DEFINITELY be a frequent long weekend getaway for us. Jac and Sim are so cool and resourceful! So much respect for you both! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

  • Great little cottage located well between Nelson and Abel Tasman. Great proximity to local wineries. We loved Neudorf and Muetere Hills vineyards. Fat Tui’s was a delicious burger spot in Marahau - also tried the ice-cream sambo which was very yummy. Loved meeting the farm animals and feeding the pigs. Beautiful spot away from the hustle and bustle. Jac and Mark were great hosts leaving lovely little touches such as farm eggs, milk, lemons and flowers on arrival. Thanks for having us guys!

    Hannah2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jac is a wonderful host. We were warmly welcomed and received many tips. Your property is wonderfully and quietly situated in nature. To Abel Tasman Park you drive about 30 minutes. The cottage is very comfortably furnished. The living area offers 2 comfortable sofas, a TV and a very well equipped kitchen. The bedroom has a wardrobe and a large chest of drawers and an incredibly cozy bed. I haven't slept as well in a long time as I did here. There is also a spacious bathroom with a shower. On the private terrace fenced with roses you can sit very well and look over the farmland. We have felt very comfortable here.

  • The Retreat provides spacious accommodation, simply furnished and very comfortable. It’s located in a perfect rural setting, very quiet and with stunning scenery. Mike and Anne were good and responsive hosts. We would happily stay there again.

  • This historic character home was a delightful stay for our family of 5, including 3 adults and 2 children under 5. The layout of the house provides opportunities for both privacy and together time, as rooms are separated by a middle hallway through the middle of the house. Furnishings and amenities are older, tasteful, and oh so very functional. Anne’s prolific and stylistically diverse artwork on the walls adds interest and color to every room. If the location suits you as it did us, then look no farther, this is a great please to stay and there is much to see and do right at home and a short drive down the road. Our 3 nights here were not nearly enough. The handbook Mike and Anne provide is a wonderfully thorough offering and provides really helpful details to make any of the activities or adventures successful and stress-free. I was really impressed. We hiked to white rock and enjoyed the views, the local human residents, and the fairy-land creatures we invented along the walk to keep us motivated up the steep track. We sadly did not swim in the beautiful river which you should jot make that mistake it’s too blue and clear and lovely. The maze on the property is a fun challenge! Mika provides our son with a pole tennis game to play which was a hit, and a bottle of bubbles which entertained the kids for an hour, much appreciated!! As icing on the cake, we come home with two of Anne’s pieces of artwork which will forever remind us of our time here. By the way, the BBQ grill is brand new and excellent! The indoor kitchen is tiny but has what you need. We are grateful for the must needed rest and the comfortable home-like vibe. We hope to go back if we can some day.

  • An old house perfectly equipped in a large wooded land. A nice view of the surrounding mountains and a relaxing calm.

    Jean Luc2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time here - great roomy house with lots of facilities provided, perfect for kids and the surrounding areas are just beautiful. Ideal base to explore the area and to just relax.

    Katie2019-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • A charming old house in a beautiful pastoral setting. Three nights was not enough time to appreciate the house itself, let alone the surrounding countryside. The house is large and comfortable with room to stretch out and look through the collections of old magazines, books and DVDs. (especially Mr. Bean!) A perfect place for families and people who appreciated the design and patina of older houses. Mike met us at the door and showed us around, and though we didn't meet Anne, here presence was very much felt and admired in her paintings which hang throughout the house. Sweet, hopeful images. The house has the most organized manual of any AirBnB place we've visited. Make sure to read it through--it's got many good suggestions for places to visit and things to do. The cottage is a peaceful and lovely place of retreat and restoration from the general busyness of life; I might add it's a fanatic value. We loved being there and send our gratitude to Anne and Mike. Highly recommend. Paul, Andrew, and the lads.

  • Great place in the middle of the nature and animals. Lloyd and his partner are amazing hosts - so friendly. We (including 2 toddlers) enjoyed it a lot and would definitely stay again if we could.

    Martijn2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly this place blew our minds. A little piece of paradise that Jude and Lloyd so generously share. When we arrived Lloyd gave us an awesome tour of their property, including the opportunity to hand feed their gorgeous alpacas. With their blessing we met mini horses, regular sized horses, their three precious puppers Junior, Echo, and Wolf, sported their cat Mai Thai, visited with some Highland Cattle, spotted their wild release horses, and had a most excellent night’s sleep amidst bird calls and insect sounds. I can not recommend this stay enough. It’s just completely peaceful, and if you like animals they have every kind under the sun for you to visit and admire! Thank you for a magical farm stay, Jude and Lloyd and all the best for your future.

  • It’s truly amazing how it’s often the little things while traveling that are the most warmly remembered. Staying at Fossil Creek offered us a wonderful experience, one of the best of our trip to the Nelson area! I will long remember the joy of feeding the adorable alpacas and spending time with their lovely pups and kind horses. Additionally, the room was quiet, clean, well furnished and beautiful! Their home is nestled in a beautiful valley that offers a natural sanctuary, but it’s the hosts stellar hospitality that makes the home!

    Samantha2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Lloyd is very good host. Thank you for time spent with us, showing your farm and animals! Apartment inside is nice - comfortable beds and all necessary things. • A lovely, stylish and comfortable apartment. The perfect place to catch your breath when exploring the South Island. Thank you Sylvia and Chris!

  • The most beautiful B&B I have seen far in New Zealand (I have been travelling for 2 month now)! Sylvia & Chris have renovated the place with so much love to details. They have excellent taste and used only high end materials. It's so lovely, you won't want to leave. I would recommend everyone who is riding the great taste trail to stay at their place!

  • My boyfriend and I absolutely adored Sylvia's place. The cottage was beautiful and so quiet and relaxing. I had just come from the hospital and needed a place to recover for a couple of days and we couldn't have imagined a better place. Their garden was pretty and Sylvia was very hospitable. We would definitely stay again if in the area!

  • We had an amazing few days at Sylvia & Chris's TOTARA HOUSE. Sylvia & Chris have worked so hard to make it into fabulous accomodation for guests to enjoy and relax. It is beautifully decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Sylvia & Chris were wonderful hosts and were very welcoming in sharing their home with us. It was immaculate in every way. You would be so happy to enjoy this amazing place. Jim & Lorraine

  • Loved our stay in your home. You were both so welcoming and made us feel right at home. The accomodation is first rate, it had everything we needed and the furnishings were beautiful. Would 100% recommend as a great stop on the Great Taste Trail ride.

Large room with private deck space. Private entry. Microwave and fridge provided in the room. Large - shared kitchen available upon request. Porta cot can be added to the space for free. 5 mins walk to Tahunanui Beach. High speed WiFi, Chromecast. Lots of storage out of the way in the hallway off the main room. Two cats live here, one is very shy so it is unlikely you’ll meet him but our cat Millie will very likely introduce herself.
It is a very large, modern, comfortable space. With everything you need.
Local cafes, bars, restaurants all walkable distance. Tahuna beach is five-minute walk from our place.
  • We had a great stay in Sarah and Isaacs airbnb. The place was really clean with plenty of space and it was in a great location close to the beach. Sarah and Isaac were excellent hosts, very friendly and welcoming, and quick to reply to our messages. I would highly recommend their place.

  • Loved this place, beautiful space, great shower, parking out the front and close to the beach, great value for money! A shame we didn't meet them in person.. thanks for a nice stay !

    Florence2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Isaac and Sarah's place. Both of them are very kind and friendly and the room was even more beautiful than expected. Everything was very clean and comfy. There was also everything you needed if you love cosy days in bed with Netflix. Nelson is a cute little town and this place was outstanding. :) Thank you for hosting us and letting us cook in your kitchen!

    Kathy2019-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Love the place. Wish I could love there. I love how warm and modern it is with double glazed windows. Lots of space and Netflix. One of my favorite places I have staid in New Zealand :)

    Zanda2019-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the definition of comfort. Spacious and beautiful room with the best shower on the south island! Short drive to CBD and 2 minute walk to the beach. Or don't leave the room and watch the sunset from bed through the bay windows! I would happily stay here again.

    Katie2019-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very pleasant 4 night stay. We had a lovely large room and the proximity to the beach and city are a real bonus (as was the awesome fish and chip shop nearby).

    Tony2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely generous space with lots of sun. Although this room was attached to Sarah and Isaac’s house and you had to walk past occupied parts of their home - the room felt private and quiet. It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The use of an iPad to chrome cast plus Netflix was an added bonus. The house is situated in a quiet neighbourhood with good access to all the things you might want to do in the Nelson area.

  • Judith's river cabin was the most beautiful relaxing place to stay, an old farm house, warm, clean, and oozing charm. absolutely perfect location, quiet, remote, and just what we needed. Only regret it was only 1 night. Judy met us as we turned up late, very friendly, gorgeous dog!!!! The most comfortable beds so far!! I will definitely be back!

    Tracy2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Judith's cottage is in a beautiful valley next to the river. If you are looking to stay away from the city in a nice rural area, this is precisely what you are looking for.

  • Our family of four had a wonderful stay at Judith’s place! The house had everything we needed, was very clean and Judith was very friendly and kind, and made us feel welcome. The farm is peaceful and nice to roam around the orchards and the river below is just beautiful! We enjoyed going to Nelson and the beaches and cycling on Rabbit Island.
