  • We had a wonderful stay at Ilsington Farmhouse. A great space for a big group. We especially loved having the fire lit in the library, ensuring cosy evenings. The house was very clean. Cot provided was very helpful. Communication before and during our stay was excellent. Would recommend and hope to stay again soon!

Tolpuddle Hideaway is a detached cosy cottage ideal for couples wanting to enjoy a tranquil environment in comfy surroundings. We are within easy reach of Dorchester, the Jurassic coastline and The Purbecks. Tolpuddle is a picturesque thatched village by the River Piddle which has become globally famous for the story of the Tolpuddle Martyrs.
The cottage has a lounge/dining room, separate kitchen with all the usual cooking facilities including a fridge and microwave. The bedroom has a king size bed and plenty of storage. Opposite the bedroom is the shower room. It’s a quiet little oasis! Please make yourself at home. You will find milk, tea and coffee in the kitchen. There are games and puzzles in the Welsh dresser, for those cosy evenings in.
The Martyrs Inn is a great pub serving good food just a minutes walk up the road. 5 minutes down the road you will reach Puddletown where you will find The Blue Vinney pub, named after the famous Dorset blue cheese. There is also Londis Grocery store with a butchers and post office within. We can also recommend The Wise Man pub in West Stafford which is less than 15 minutes drive.
  • Sweet little place, spotlessly clean and warm, everything you need in a bolt hole. Beverley is a great host, comms easy and on hand if you need anything. Martyrs pub was closed (hardly her fault!) but blue viney and wise man both close enough and decent food.

    Simon2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cute and cosy little bolthole; had everything we were looking for, and some lovely touches like a jug of fresh milk and homemade biscuits! It was really comfortable and so quiet...We slept so well! Great local pub in the village, and close to the coast where we made the most of some sun and explored Durdle Door. Thanks for a great stay. Hopefully we’ll be back in the summer!

  • Nestled into a pretty little village, this place is hidden away yet close to all of the main attractions and larger towns.

  • Excellent stay, fantastic property with virtually everything you need.

    Alex2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a true hideaway in a lovely village. The apartment was very clean and tidy, the kitchen had all we needed for our 4 night stay. The bed and pillows was comfortable Mark our host was there to greet us and show us around. We were using this apartment as a base to look around Dorset and it was perfect for us, the only down side for us townies were the country lanes but by the end of the week even I was getting used to driving down them in the dark. I would recommend staying here and we would book again.

  • Kim and Marc have an exceptional cottage. It is perfectly equipped with everything you will need. When we arrived there was freshly baked brownies (utterly delicious by the way) which was a lovely touch. The location is brilliant for village walks with the dog and family. Not far from Durdle Door which is stunning too. I cannot day enough niceties about this place. All I can say is that we were very reluctant to leave!! Thank you Kim and Marc, and also thank you for the extra eggs, they were so good!!

  • Kim and Marks house is an absolute gem in Milborne St Andrews. The house is gorgeous and the views spectacular. Plenty of parking and close to all those things you might need on holiday.

Honeysuckle Lodge is a unique blend of luxury mixed with the classic beach/shepherds hut design. It combines spa like experiences such as drenching shower and a hot tub surrounded by living walls; with home from home comforts such as cosy duvets, soft pillows and HD TV with Amazon Fire stick. Located on the site of an 18th Century Grade II listed building, in a small village with a fantastic local pub and village shop. Guests self check-in and out.
The lodge although small boasts a brand new en-suit with drenching rain shower head, stone sink and exposed copper piping. There is a double bed with cosy bedding, tea making facilities, Nespresso coffee machine and light continental breakfast. The Lodge also has use of a hot tub located just outside the lodge, surrounded by a living wall which gives privacy and a unique jungle feel. The Lodge is built in the grounds of our circa 18th Century Grade II Listed Thatched house which is located next to the A354 - this does mean that you will hear cars and often farm machinery passing during the day and sometimes at night.
The Royal Oak pub is the best local you could ask for. Serving fantastic food and drink and run by very friendly people. There is also a village shop too. All of which is within 2-3 minutes walk.
  • This tiny little treat is perfect if you just want to lock yourself away in a bedroom & a hot tub... a thoroughly gorgeous little find. Congratulations

    James2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here, it looks exactly as it does in the pictures! The location is perfect with so much to do just 20 minutes away in any direction! The hot tub was lovely after a day of exploring and the bed was super comfy. The extra bits (breakfast, orange juice and a bottle of wine) are super thoughtful. The Royal Oak does lovely food and everyone should 100% visit. We had a great time here, our only niggle was that it took ages for our towels and swimwear to dry, but apart from that we would stay again.

    Meg2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay, very clean and friendly.

    Emma2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

    Ellen2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely stay, the perfect little getaway! Also we really recommend The Royal Oak Pub just down the road from the lodge, we had the most gorgeous food! We would definitely stay again!

  • Incredible little lodge, perfect for a relaxing couples’ break. Built by the hosts, it’s clear that a lot of thought went into the experience of their guests. If you’re happy to drive for 20 minutes in any direction then there are endless options for day trips. The local pub was a great recommendation and just a short walk from the accommodation. To all future guests - kick back and enjoy!

    Sam2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely little Airbnb! The decor is so cosy and Jeremy and Chloe have done a wonderful job creating this little oasis. The hot tub is a thankful retreat after a long walk in the rain. Milborne is a delightful town, free from masses of tourists, and full of history and poetic scenery. Highly recommend visiting nearby Milton Abbey and Durdle Door. One note- there isn’t really a place to eat inside the bnb, but if you aren’t opposed to bed snacks then you’ll have a grand time!

    Lillith2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much! Jeremy was the perfect host and we couldn’t have asked for a better night away. The lodge is amazing, so well equipped and the decor is modern and stylish, with lovely little touches everywhere! We really appreciated the wine, milk and orange juice in the fridge too. If you’re staying on a Sunday be sure to try the fantastic carvery at The Royal Oak pub just a stones throw away from the lodge. Overall we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back 5*

Tolpuddle, famous for the Martyrs and founding of unions, In July there is a festival celebrating them. There is a museum telling their story, a visit to Dorchester will complete the story. Stay in a rural area. Views over farmland and off the beaten track. We get walkers, horse riders, birds and insects right on your doorstep. During harvesting and sowing times there is farm traffic. The hut is self contained with a separate shower and macerating toilet. My husband speaks fluent Spanish.
We are on a septic tank so I can supply shower essentials for the separate shower hut if you wish, with a macerating toilet and cold fill washbasin. All our water is from a private water supply on the local farm , it is hard water but tastes lovely. We are also on our way to reducing fossil fuel use with solar panels and air heat exchanger for hot water and heating in the house, so we are well on our way! Light breakfast can be provided if required, there is no cooking area but a bbq can be borrowed on request It is mainly very quiet here, just listen to the birdsong, the buzzing insects and let the world pass you by... But please note this is a rural area and at certain times there are increased tractor use and work in the fields, such as during ploughing, sowing and harvest.
Tolpuddle is a small, rural, friendly village, with a pub offering a good selection of food (The Martyrs). There are other pubs in the surrounding villages as well, please see my guide book. There is usually something on in the area at weekends, from Dorset knob throwing to Blandford Steam fair, if you wish to know either ask or I will be putting leaflets in the hut. There are many walks and rambles, birdwatching, the Jurassic coast and the Isle of Purbeck all within reach. From beaches to the Cerne Abbas giant, it’s all on our doorstep!
  • Nice quirky and different accommodation. Great overnight stay

    Brad2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We would highly recommend a stay here. Bill was very pleasant and welcoming on arrival and gave us all the necessary information about the accommodation and facilities. We stayed here to attend a wedding reception in Athelhampton which is a short 20 minute walk away.

  • Great little hideaway

    Tim2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts, picturesque area, quirky accomodation and fantastic light pollution free views of the stars. The toilet and shower facilities were excellent. The breakfast was welcome and more than adequate. This was a superb location to base ourselves when visiting Maiden Castle and the slightly risqué Cerne Abbas giant. The Shepherds hut was idyllic, and surprisingly spacious and comfortable.

    Lisa2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location with lovely hosts, will definitely return if we can. Loved Rocky too.

    Sharon2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful place to stay. I was a bit hesitant about a "shepherd's hut" but any concerns quickly evaporated. I was warmly welcomed, shown the facilities and felt very at home. The three things I look for when i stay somewhere; a nice comfortable bed, hot shower and fresh air were all well provided. Its a nice quiet country location and a 10-15min walk to the nearest pub that serves good pub food. And the absence of a TV was a blessing, listen the birds, take a good book and enjoy. Your hosts are subtly available (not pushy and not totally absent like some hotels) and will warmly welcome you.

    Gordon2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful little spot for a night or two away. The hosts were lovely and accommodating, even recommending some local sights and a beautiful walk. Would definitely recommend staying and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

The Coach House was built in the early 1900's next to the Village Inn for the carriage and horses. It has been delightfully restored to provide self-catering accommodation for 4/5. Whilst looking traditional, with solid wood flooring, exposed beams, and a wooden staircase, it has the benefit of modern technology. The hub of the Coach House is the lounge/kitchen/diner with its cosy log burner, leather sofas, underfloor heating and wall hung flat screen TV.
Dewlish is a small rural village and is perfectly situated for exploring Dorset towns and the Jurassic coast. Attractions near by are Thomas Hardy cottage, Monkey World, the tank museum and Corfe Castle
  • Comfy, cosy, warm.

  • A lovely house, a great base for exploring the south coast. The place is nicely rural with empty lanes and farms nearby and a wonderful starlit dark sky.

    Lucy2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • My son and I and our two dogs spent two nights at the Coach House in early January and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Coach House is well-presented, comfortable and very cosy (especially with the wood-burning stove lit), and provided a perfect spot for exploring the area. Having a friendly and welcoming pub next door was ideal for evening meals and a drink without having to worry about driving. And the pub food was excellent. Roy was quick to respond to emails and to offer helpful advice. All in all, highly recommended.

We have used air bnb a lot in Italy when we moved to Tolpuddle we wanted to be hosts. We live in a grade II listed cottage with a new build garage in our 1/3 acre garden. The loft is a self contained room above the garage with views over the garden and countryside, it has sofas so you can look through the back window and admire the view. You can use seats in the garden and it has a fire pit at the bottom of the garden. The local pub Martyrs Arms does great food and is just over the road
The views from the loft space over the garden and countryside are so pretty. The village is pretty steeped in Tolpuddle Martyrs history but near to the Jurassic coast and its sights. The Airbnb is a lovely quiet place for you to relax and enjoy but very near a lot of interesting places the perfect spot for a weekend away
The village of Tolpuddle is beautiful steeped in Tolpuddle Martyrs history if you are interested. It’s also close to Dorchester, Weymouth, Corfe Castle, Swanage, Wareham and the Perbecks
  • Fabulous quirky place, beautiful views, great place for a couple. Barbara keeps in touch and nothing is too much. Lovely little touches like fresh breakfast to start the day. Would definitely be back 👍

  • WOW WOW WOW This is a little gem 100% recommend staying here. Barbara & Nigel are the perfect host, spot on with communication, there if you need anything otherwise will leave you to enjoy there fantastic hideaway. The basket of goodies & fresh apples from there own garden are the little added extras that make this place stand out from the rest. Close enough to all the best places in Dorset, will definitely be returning in the future. SUPER HOST!!!!!!

The accommodation comprises of a entrance hall, Bed/sitting room and shower room, which includes Flat screen TV, Fridge, Microwave, Toaster and Tea & Coffee facilities.
  • The Bothy is spotlessly clean and well heated. (At the end of October that was important!) The bed is very comfortable and it was great to have a lounge area too. We felt very comfortable there. It’s well located for walks on the South Coast and for visiting local National Trust properties. The Tolpuddle Martyrs museum was also fascinating. Ray was extremely welcoming and gave us great tips for places to eat. We would highly recommend it.

  • This place is exactly as you see in the photographs and it was absolutely perfect for us. Beautiful tranquil location and a comfy bed - we had some v good sleeps here! It’s great to stay somewhere with so many things provided - iron and hairdryer, tea, coffee etc which means you don’t have to bring everything with you. Also it’s useful to be able to have a simple breakfast at home and the facilities available to prepare picnics. Ray has really thought of everything you would need and more. We will definitely return!

  • The cottage is stunning and has everything you need for your time away. The cottage is lovely and warm and very cosy. We went on walks straight out from the cottage as it’s in such a lovely area. The tea shop just up the road is perfect for lunch and the owners were very kind in recommending local walks. We went to the local pub just a few steps up the road from the cottage on one of our evenings. Again they were very friendly and we had a lovely meal and would certainly recommend booking a meal. We couldn’t of wanted more from our stay and will certainly be booking to stay again.

  • Milton Abbas is unique and magical........steeped in history and sits in one of the most beautiful counties in the UK. Lars’s home gives you the perfect opportunity to be a part of that. A wonderfully cosy space, well appointed and immaculate. Lars was super helpful ahead of our arrival; very straightforward to get into the property and settle straight in. I’ll be back for sure! Thanks Lars. (Note.......there’s a great pub in the village but recommend checking early in the day if they’re serving food in the evening as we were un-successful in spite of the website advertising food service every evening. You’re in the sticks so be sure to have back up plans in the fridge!!)

    Simon2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous house, situated in the picture perfect village of Milton Abbas. Lars was great to communicate with, the house was immaculate and provided a perfect base for our few days away. Particularly enjoyed how warm is was, as the weather wasn't kind to us. We enjoyed a trip to the Tank Museum on the rainiest day, a windy picnic on beautiful Durdle Door beach and a classic british seaside trip to Swanage. Tea rooms in the village we lovely, really friendly and great with the kids. Would love to return. Thanks so much.

Private front door leading into open lounge area with kitchen. Kitchen has facility for cooking including microwave; grill & fridge. Large comfy sofa & TV. Bathroom with toilet & shower cubicle. Bedroom with double bed & wardrobe.
Village pub, Milton Arms is 50yds away - please respect our neighbours when coming back late from the pub. There is a village farm shop about a 10 min walk. Please note the pub is closed on Mondays. The nearest town is the Georgian town of Blandford Forum, which hosts a good range of shops, restaurants & pubs.
  • Lovely place to stay with all the amenities you need for a long weekend or week away, nearby to a country pub with fabulous food and a short distance from Gorcombe extreme sports. Dave & Alyson are really friendly, great hosts and very responsive , we arrived to a lovely little welcome hamper full of eggs, butter, bread and cereals. Would definitely stay again!

    Krystyna2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Superb self contained property within easy reach of many many places of interest around the area. For a self contained and unattached annexe the overnight charges are, in my opinion, a bargain compared to many other similar air bnb properties of similar amenities and description. The unexpected touches of milk, tea, coffee, butter, bread and eggs were the icing on the cake. Loved every minute of our stay.

    John2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • David and Aly were great host, it was a pleasure staying at there place. Really carring. The place is nice and they did a good job with placing the furniture. It has everything you need. Upon arrival they even bought some basics like milk and bread for us. The place is very nice located, with lot’s to do closeby. And there’s a great pub accross the street. The only downside is that internet is not so strong there and because there’s no WiFi, it happens often that you don’t have internet access. For us was not a big deal and actually made that you’re less on your phone.

  • Patrick was an extremely helpful host, and his place is a great retreat. My family and I had a great weekend.

    Sam2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Patrick met us and gave us a full tour so we knew what to expect as well as some great recommendations for things to do in the area. We'll definitely be coming back next time we're in the area.

    Joseph2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It was a really great place to stay for the weekend. We had 8 adults and 4 dogs in our party and there was more than enough room for everyone. The dining room table wasn't quite big enough for all of us but we moved furniture around and it was perfect (with permission). Open fires, comfy sofas, comfy beds. We struggled a little with the aga for cooking but only because we hadn't used one before. But there is a separate electric hob and 2 convection cookers which helped. By the end of the weekend we had the hang of it. We will book again!

    Ann2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful hospitality - Patrick met us when we arrived for check-in and gave us a very thorough tour and explained some of the quirks of this gorgeous Victorian house. He also left us some local delicacies as well as tea & coffee which was a really thoughtful touch. The house itself is wonderful, the huge living rooms are perfect for big groups of people to eat together, play games and just spend time relaxing. We woke up to birdsong and saw plenty of birds (even a pheasant) in the garden, as well as plenty of wildlife when we walked in the area later. The bedrooms are really comfortable (everyone in our group commented on how well they slept!) and the kitchen is great for cooking for a big group as well. The garden is lovely, and there's a footpath from just outside the house which leads straight into the village. Patrick also gave us lots of local tips for places to see in the area, we followed his advice and had a lovely trip down by the coast. We had a great stay and would thoroughly recommend this place!

    Teresa2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay in this amazing house. I didn't expect it to live up to how good it looks in the photos, but actually the photos didn't do it justice, the house and the grounds are outstanding. Together, my family made up a party of 9 adults and one baby. There was loads of room for us all, we could all be together in the kitchen or any of the reception rooms, which was great. The house is full of character and very well maintained. Chester is an excellent host, we were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. It was lovely to feel like we could relax and enjoy the place. Chester provided lots of helpful tips on the local area and was always on hand to answer any questions. The location is perfect for dogs; Chester made the dogs feel very welcome too, there are lovely walks all around, including on the property grounds. We would all highly recommend this house and hope to stay again.

  • We were celebrating my husbands 50th birthday and Watercress Farm was perfect for this. Lots of room, comfy beds and Chester was a great host who was always on hand if needed. Perfect for a large group. We had 2 dogs with us and they also had an amazing time exploring the garden. The veranda was perfect for pre dinner drinks and just chilling in the garden. There is a pub you can walk to but bring trainers. The welcome pack was really thoughtful and Chester was really accommodating. Great trip and would come again!

  • A small, but perfectly formed en-suite room with a fresh continental breakfast in the cosy lounge, this was excellent value for money. Richard and Tina were thoughtful hosts who also gave generously of their time to describe the area for us. Just what we wanted.

  • Warm welcome in a really nice house from a lovely couple. We had a great time in Milton Abbas. The breakfast was really good with view of birds just outside the window. The room is lovely and we slept very well. We recommend!

  • Richard and Tina are wonderful hosts who have created a lovely welcoming environment in their home. The cosy room has everything you need, plus the bed is very comfortable. The ensuite bathroom is also very well designed, all in all it's perfect. The breakfast is a lovely added bonus, a real treat. The village is exactly as described, chocolate box pretty houses and a scenic abbey to walk to. The stay is full of thoughtful touches and it's great to be able to get top tips about the area, I will definitely staying with Richard and Tina again.

The breakfast spread in the morning was a real treat as well, with plenty of options, in a cosy setting. Thank you very much for my stay. Defiantly recommend.

  • Rich & Tina are a really lovely couple. Their home is cosy and welcoming. We stayed in the double ensuite which was really comfortable. It's a great place to stay if you want to explore the surrounding areas. Milton Abbas is very picturesque and has a great pub, The Hanbro Arms which does very good food. We would definitely stay again. It was a shame we couldn't have stayed for longer.

The cider shed is a cosy hideaway located in our garden/orchard in a unique peaceful setting. Whatever the season you will be sure of a lush green view with plenty garden birds to watch. The garden is completely private being enclosed on all sides by native hedging. Our house is in close proximity. A Continental Breakfast is provided. We are a short drive from Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum and Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door.
The accommodation is warm, clean and compact with a small area of decking to the front. We offer WiFi, a Smart TV and a silent fridge. We have now added a bathroom for your own private use. A Breakfast Basket is provided (continental).
We are very rural off the beaten track. I would recommend that only guests with their own transport book as there is no public transport and the nearest railway station is Wool. Nearest village is Bere Regis 1.5 miles away which has a small shop and a couple of pubs. Wareham and Dorchester is less than 20 minutes away. Lulworth Cove is a 10 minute drive and Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum are 5 minutes away.
  • Tina is a great host; highly recommended. ...The cider shed is very tranquil and relaxing, even the rain added to our experience! This a place is a must if visiting the area (and the breakfast is an added tasty bonus 😀) .

During our stay we enjoyed the continental breakfast served every morning! Each day the breakfast is different and it is served in a beautiful way! The place is the perfect escape for an ideal weekend away! It is very quiet yet it has all the amenities you might need. The check out time is at 10am but Tina was happy to let us leave an hour later after we asked her.

We're pleased to welcome you to our thatched cottage in a friendly village, in the heart of Dorset. We are in Hardy Country, close to the Jurassic Coast, the Isle of Purbeck and historical county town of Dorchester. In an attached annexe is our guest bedroom with a fabulous high ceiling and exposed timber beams. We hope you like thoughtful touches we've added to make it as restful as possible. Parking is on the driveway directly outside the guest room. Cats live with us in our home.
The guest bedroom in our cottage is light, airy and comfortable. It contains a large wardrobe (with shoe rack inside), a desk with lockable drawers and extra bed drawers to store all your possessions away. The private bathroom is located opposite the bedroom. There's a nice range of hot drinks available in the bedroom to make whenever you like, plenty of fresh towels and bedding. To help you explore Dorset, we have maps, guides and Rich - being a proper local - has some great ideas if you want to explore the lesser known parts of marvellous Dorset. We can cater for all sorts of dietary preferences and like to think our vegetarian and vegan breakfasts are a bit special, including loads of fresh fruit, super tasty bread and Kate's homemade cereals. All served in the kitchen. You can use the fridge in the kitchen to store any of your own food. The guest space in cottage annexe is very much part of our home, and we will share the front entrance and hallway.
Milborne St Andrew is a pretty village on the edge of an AONB. We have a village shop, Post Office, public house and attractive 11th century church. Located in open countryside between the historic Roman town of Dorchester and Georgian Blandford Forum, it's ideally situated to explore Hardy Country, as well as the Jurassic Coast. Visit Lawrence of Arabia's home at Cloud's Hill, Maiden Castle Iron Age Hillfort, Chesil Beach, the Tank Museum, Tolpuddle Martys Museum and Lulworth Cove; to mention but a few of Dorset's delights. The towns and beaches of Bournemouth and Poole are 18 miles away; a pleasant drive of about half an hour.
  • Kate and Rich are wonderful people and extremely welcoming. I was there for all of two days and it felt like home. Kate was on top of everything and went well beyond in every respect. Breakfast was to die for and beyond what I have seen even at the nicest of hotels. I honestly can't say enough nice things about the pair of them. Absolutely fantastic hosts in every regard.

  • What a lovely cottage, so homely and friendly with lovely personal touches. Katie was a lovely host and nothing was too much trouble, very friendly and gave tips on where to visit. Kate and Rich made us so welcome in their home and were always happy to help and suggest places to visit. The wonderful breakfasts were really appreciated and so yummy. There are many places to visit just a short drive from the cottage and some great walks in the surrounding area. All in all we had a wonderful time and would definitely consider coming back again.

The Old Forge is a large 4 bedroomed cottage in the marvellous and historic village of Milton Abbas. Unusually, the entire original village is listed as a grade 2*, steeped in history, and designed by the renowned Capability Brown. The local vistas and views are simply stunning. Our cottage is furnished in a cottagey period style but has all the modern conveniences needed for our modern day lives. There is a wonderful pub in the village serving fantastic food.
You are assured of total peace and quiet in this gorgeous village. The clean air and clear skies generally invite one of the best nights sleep you have ever had! Milton Abbas is a hot spot in the local area for tourists, walkers and cyclists. It has quaint traditions including a biannual street party that bring the village back to 18th century roots and attract many thousands to the village! Milton Abbas is within a 10-minute walk from Milton Abbey and Milton Abbey School, This stunning abbey has roots that go back to 935. The grounds designed by Capability Brown are breath taking. There is a very attractive 9 hole golf course. The school hosts an international (classical) music festival every summer.
The cottage has 2 double bedrooms and two generous single bedrooms allowing for 6 people. There is a large bathroom and a further shower room. There is plenty of parking, Wi-Fi and a Sonos music system. (mobile reception is poor in the area) TV is provided via satellite and Netflix is installed The garden is terraced and laid into many separate and private areas with chocolate box views over the surrounding thatched houses. It is sunny and south facing and generally protected from the wind. There is also an area of private woodland! The area caters extremely well for walking, cycling and horse riding. We can easily fix up hacks via the local riding centre.

Godwins cottage is a stunning newly refurbished 300 year old thatched cottage. Although attached to the main property, it has its own private entrance, private roof terrace and use of some of the garden area, so plenty of space to spread out and relax. We also have outbuildings which can store bikes or motorbikes if required.
We are set in the idyllic and peaceful village of Moreton. Famous for being the resting place of T.E. Lawrence aka Lawrence of Arabia. Godwin's hosts everything you need to make your stay restful with a little bit of luxury about it. Downstairs is the cottage kitchen and the living room with dining tables and chairs, comfy settee and a 50 inch Smart TV. upstairs is the converted hayloft which is now a fabulous bedroom with en-suite bathroom which has a double ended bath with waterfall taps and overhead is a rain forest power shower. This all leads onto your own private spacious roof terrace, where you can enjoy the views while either enjoying your morning breakfast or watching the sunset over the countryside with a chilled glass of wine. It is simply quite a special place.
We are settled in the heart of Hardy Country, which is simply quite beautiful. We are very lucky to live in the abundant countryside but to have the coast on our doorstep too. We are also 10 minutes away from the County Town of Dorchester. Moreton itself has an Award Winning Tearooms which is 400 metres away from Godwins. Also the Walled Gardens, Moreton Church with it's rare and unusual windows and Moreton Ford which when you cross it leads off into miles of walks through Moreton Forest. Nearby is Bovington where there is a weekly Tank display also boasts the home of T.E Lawrence, Clouds Hill. Bovington also hosts the Tank Fest annually. Corfe Castle is a spectacular ruin with amazing views. Two miles away is the family home of Thomas Hardy and then you can take a tour round the countryside visiting all the famous places that come from within his books. Most of these haven't changed since his day.
  • A lovely place to stay in a beautiful part of the country. A perfect base from which to explore Dorset and Ruth and Mike are perfect hosts.

  • Ruth’s place is exactly as described. It’s a really lovely place, in a really lovely part of the world. She’s a great host.

  • What a peaceful, pretty little cottage. We listened to owls hooting through the silence, yet we were so conveniently close to the coast, too. Thoughtful touches throughout from a friendly host. A great little find.

  • Ruth's cottage was beautiful, cozy & welcoming. The thoughtful touches of wine & nibbles on arrival were very welcome, the cottage was toasty warm (very appreciated on a chilly winters day) and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Great base for discovering Dorset, from the delights of Monkey World and the breathtaking views of the Jurassic coastline. We'd definitely recommend staying at Ruth (and Mike's) cottage & I'm sure we'll be back to stay again.

  • Great location with the coast not too far away. Lots of thoughtful touches and a lovely place to stay.

  • Spent a couple of relaxing days here after the stresses of Christmas !! Couldn’t have asked for anything better, very cosy and comfortable, everything we needed including a welcome pack and even some dog biscuits for Gracie our yellow Labrador.

  • The cottage is a little quirky but it has some genuine country charm. Ruth is an excellent host, she was quick to reply to any questions we had and kept her cottage very clean. It is the best kind of place to get away from it all and enjoy a quiet time in the country. Highly recommended.
