Places to stay in Uffculme
A rustic stargazer where you can fall asleep watching the stars and wake up to the sound of birdsong! A rural spot, far from street lighting, the sky lights up on clear nights. Simple, basic, but unusual accommodation. This is a wooden A-frame structure with enough room for two to sleep in with a mainly glass roof.
Where else can you stay in a stargazer?! Our large Devon stone house in a quiet valley on the edge of the pretty village of Holcombe Rogus, surrounded by countryside. The house is half a mile from the village, which has a small shop, a garage and a pub. The Prince of Wales pub does pub food as does the Staple Cross Inn which is about 3 miles away. (food not available every day) Both Dartmoor and Exmoor, and the north and south Devon coasts, are about an hour away, and there are plenty of pretty walks close by, including the Great Western Canal. The cathedral city of Exeter is 40 minutes away, and the market town of Taunton 30 minutes. Nearby Wellington and Tiverton have a range of shops and supermarkets. There is quick and easy access to the M5 at both junctions 26 and 27, and is a 15 minute drive from Tiverton Parkway Train station. We also have available a single room. Please see separate listing.
  • Neat star gazing opportunity in a warm and relaxing way. Lovely quiet place.

  • Simply amazing with lovely hospitality. Couldn’t have found a better place to stay surrounded by beautiful nature. Thank you again Tess and Richard!!!

    Charlotte2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • COSY, FUN AND QUIRKY! My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our night in the little stargazing hut! Tess and Richard were kind and friendly hosts, and made us feel very welcome. We had the use of a private bathroom during our stay, with a lovely hot and powerful shower, and the conservatory to keep our bags in. Tess and Richard very kindly allowed us to bring our Thermomix, so we spent the Saturday evening sharing their kitchen, as we cooked a Mushroom Risotto, and enjoying a chat with them. So much nicer than going to a restaurant! In view of our dietary preferences, we used our Thermomix on the Sunday morning, too, to make a green juice and smoothie. Richard also made us a loaf of homemade malted bread, which was lovely. Cereals and preserves were also on offer. The stargazing hut itself was very cosy, and there were plenty of duvets to keep us warm. A fun way to sleep under the stars, and a very enjoyable experience all round!

  • We loved our stay with Tess and Richard who were wonderful hosts and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The hut was great and we could see so many stars and ended up downloading a stargazing app so we could tell where the constellations were, just beware of a few small friends if you’re frightened of bugs/spiders but they kept to themselves. Would highly recommend for a few night to just chill out and spend some quality time away from busy day-to-day life.

    Rachel2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Tess and Richard were very welcoming and relaxed. The star gazer was very cosy and a lovely space to stay. I would thoroughly recommend a night there!

    Lydia2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Tess's and Richard's place as well as their warm hospitality.

    David2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly what it said- lovely star gazing hut with cozy vibe. Intentionally basic to not distract from nature & starry nights. We had a lovely weekend

    Luis2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Tess & Richard are fabulous hosts, really helpful with tips on where to eat etc during our stay. The hut is lovely and cosy - plenty warm enough with the extra duvets we were given. Lovely breakfast too, and really useful to have use of the conservatory for storing belongings, and enjoying the evenings. Overall a fab trip, and was really happy to meet such lovely hosts!

  • Really nice cottage in the middle of nowhere, would definitely recommend if you would like some peace and quiet. The hot tub was amazing 👌 extremely nice and outstanding host, didn’t hesitate to offer her help when needed (we forgot milk). Pictures could have been better but it was a nice surprise to see the place in real life. *****

  • Very clean comfortable private accommodation, hot tub under the stars with lovely countryside views, Beverley a great host nothing too much trouble to make your stay special

    Gary2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the house, the setting is stunning and the hot tub under the stars is perfect even in January! Beverley looked after us so well, and the animals are super friendly.

    Julia2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a fab place! I'd looked online for log cabins with hot tubs but there wasn't the option to stay for 1 night only and they were SO expensive. Pretty glad I found Beverley's place on air bnb! So much better than a log cabin! A beautiful 1 bed guest house with a huge bedroom and bed. So warm and snuggly and lots of Christmassy touches which was cute. The hot tub was... INCREDIBLE!! Plus lots of animals around outside which we loved. We will definitely be returning!!

    Kerry2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time, Beverley was very welcoming and explained everything and the view was stunning. It was a shame we only had one night and no time to explore locally as it all looked so beautiful.

    Melissa2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We spent New Years here and it was wonderful and relaxing. The views from the property are incredible; just rolling hills as far as the eye can see. The hot tub was a real highlight, and Beverley was a wonderful host. Very helpful, and quick with any communication. We would highly recommend, and would return.

    Cullompton, England, United Kingdom

The cottage has a lovely feel, with wood burner and Aga. Rural, but easy access from the M5, and parking for two cars. Fabulous place to use as a base for good walking & exploring the South West. A car is necessary & a desire to be off the beaten track, although good food & beers a 10-15 min walk to the village. Large rooms, comfortable furnishings, quality linens. Fully self contained with central heating and everything that you would need to make an enjoyable break.
A quiet cottage attached to Walders Court, a grade II listed property dating from the 1600's. Used as the setting for the novelist R.D. Blackmore's novel, Perlycross, he being more famous as the author of Loorna Doone. Private and tucked away with your own entrance. Ideal for those needing a stopover, easy access from M5, J26 or J27, or those seeking a base to explore. Excellent walking, and a short 45-60 minute drive to Exmoor and Dartmoor. Entrance is via a flag path that leads from the parking area to the front stable door of the Cottage. The front door leads directly into the kitchen/dining area. This is a spacious room, equiped with an Aga for cooking and warmth, (separate heating system on thermostat to ensure the cottage stays warm) dishwasher, and washing machine, plenty of cupboard storage and a small fridge freezer. A kitchen table, large enough to seat six completes the area. An open staircase leads from the kitchen to the upstairs bedroom. The bedroom overlooks the entrance courtyard and the entrance gate. Furnished simply, with a 5' bed, comfortable mattress & quality linens. En-suite bathroom, with bath, washbasin and toilet. Returning to the kitchen. From the kitchen, three shallow steps lead you into a small open plan cloakroom area, with storage for coats and shoes. Access to the ground floor shower room and toilet is located here. The cloakroom leads to the living area. The living area is a light and airy space, with a small woodburning stove. It is furnished with a two seater settee, and a two seater pull out bed settee. Television and wifi access available in the living area. Please note - we are a rural community with slow broadband speeds. If you wish to stream movies, the broadband often fails. It is reliable for emails and other applications that need less speed. Outside, access from the front door is the small side garden. This is for your sole use while you are at the cottage. The garden is surrounded by a shrub hedge, beyond which is a country lane. As the season progresses the garden becomes more private and secluded as the shrubs become leafy. During the winter the garden is more exposed due to the nature of this hedge. BBQ and fire pit available for your use. Points to note. The ground floor living room can be easily used as a bedroom, with the shower room close by. The lounge opens from the cloakroom area, and although there are no doors, because of the dogleg style, there is privacy if it is to be used as a sleeping area. The main bedroom is accessed from the open plan stairs that lead from the kitchen, so any noise from the kitchen will be easily heard from the bedroom. Some windows, overlook the courtyard of the main house. These will not affect the privacy of the Cottage, as you cannot see into the Cottage from the courtyard. Finally, for those very tall, (over 6ft) the shower is fairly compact due to restricted ceiling height - feedback from guests are that the shower area is more than adequate for tall persons!
We live at the foot of the Blackdown Hills in Devon. We sit underneath The Beacon, a short 10-15 minute hike up the hill to a fabulous 400 year old ancient monument used to call all good men and true, to arms, to ward off the Spanish invasion. The Blackdowns are one of the Westcountry's hidden gems, forming a tranquil, beautiful, and relatively isolated landscape on the Devon and Somerset border. Steep ridges, high plateau, valleys and springs create a charming mosaic of countryside dotted with farms, villages and ancient features. We are a 15-20 minute walk from our local village, where you can find The Culm Valley Inn, renowned for it's locally sourced food, real ales and lively atmosphere, a true village pub. Crossing the ancient packhorse bridge will bring you along to the Strand Stores, great for a good cup of tea and slice of cake, all home made, with lots of goodies to take away. We are equal distance between the North and South Devon Coastline. An hours journey can take you to the delights of these shores, into the moors of Dartmoor and Exmoor. Slightly further afield is the Eden project, but very accessible as a day trip. If you are a National Trust member, we have several properties on our doorstep for you to explore. Full details of what you can find are in our 'Welcome Pack & Information' on arrival
  • Very comfortable and warm, delightful hosts, an Aga to cook on.

  • A great place for a peaceful and relaxing weekend break. This is a lovely cottage - very welcoming and comfortable - in a good location. Rosie was very accommodating and friendly.

    Jacki2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Rosie's cottage - it's the perfect mix of being off the beaten track but also with good amenities nearby (pub and shop/deli within walking distance, as well as other pubs, shops and points of interest a drive away). We visited Exmouth which is a 30 minute drive away, and would recommend a walk up to Culmstock beacon and also to the Tarr Steps in Exmoor. The cottage was cosy, clean and kitchen well equipped. Thanks Rosie!

There is garden space just for the cottage for relaxing, alfresco eating and drinking but visitors are welcome explore our large garden ( a work in progress ! ) There are great pubs in local villages which can also provide excellent beer and food.
Explore the moors, coasts, history, and gardens of Devon, starting with a walk along the nearby Great Western Canal. The area is rural with surrounding farmland, and a village with a pub, plus well-stocked farm shop and cafe, is about 1.5 miles away. The small market town of Tiverton is about 4 miles away with a twice weekly market, local museum, varied shops and supermarkets.
  • Our stay at Annie’s was short but sweet. The space was clean and stylish, with a cozy log burner and luxurious bathtub, big well stocked kitchen and just an all around well designed space. The bed was incredible, we slept so well! There were so many goodies and thoughtful touches too... fresh flowers, apple juice, etc. Her gardens are beautiful even this time of year and it was lovely to stroll through and birdwatch. Annie is generous and kind and really took the time to make us welcome; her and I had a nice long chat one rainy morning about her work and the property and their apple processing... it was lovely. Would definitely stay again and would definitely recommend!

    Laura2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, lovely personal touches and really nice space to relax in. Private, clean and all the amenities you need. We brought our own logs for the fire, but no need as they have lots and it was perfect for the chilly evenings! We especially enjoyed the Canal walks and a pint at The Globe pub after 😊 thanks for the homemade apple juice and nibbles Annie 💖

Eden lodge is perfectly situated as a jumping off point for much of the south west. An hours drive from the surfing beaches of Croyde and Wolacombe on the north coast, and less the 30 minute from either the south coast, Exmoor National Park or the picturesque city of Exeter, there really is something for everyone. There are three local pubs with in 2 miles that offer a variety of dining options or just a quite spot for a relaxing drink Covid 19 As Eden Lodge a single bed property and the foot fall is extremely small, the location is an isolated rural setting we feel your risks are as low as you could hope to find during this crisis. However, in these extraordinary times we felt it might be reassuring to understand what extra measures we are taking to avoid any potential contamination, however unlikely. Check in: We are now operating a remote check-in policy to reduce physical contact. We will phone you on arrival to check you have settled in and briefly run through a verbal meet and greet. We will email instructional video clips to help explain the property in more detail. Unfortunately early check in or late check out will be suspended for the time being as we need all available time to carry out the additional cleaning. Keys should be left in the door and will also be throughly cleaned. Cleaning: We have always felt a little uncomfortable leaving any of the cleaning to anyone else so carry our all cleaning ourselves (and have done for some time) this gives us the peace of mind that no corners have been cut and the high standards are maintained all times. All laundry is also done in house using anti bacterial additive. The idea being the fewer people involved the lower the risk. For extra security all cleaning is now carried out while wearing rubber gloves and a surgical mask just incase we are carrying the virus and are not yet showing any symptoms. Between every guest we: Fully deep clean the property. Anti bacterial or bleach products used on all cleanable surfaces with extra care taken with all handles, cupboard doors, taps, switches and tv controls etc. All floors cleaned and treated with anti bacterial products. Throws and cushion cases washed. Cushions, sofa and rugs sprayed with anti bacterial solution. Pillows, duvet and mattress sprayed with anti bacterial solution. Hot tub: All exterior surfaces cleaned with anti bacterial solution. Filters changed Non chorine shock added Slow release bromine tablets added Advice from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) on any transmission through pools and hot tubs is as follows: “There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.” Please note: (Especially returning guests) We have had to drastically reduce the amount of complimentary items we traditionally have provided. All condiments, oils, tea and coffee have now been removed for obvious reasons. We will still limited qualities of dish washer tablets, washing up liquid, toilet rolls and hand wash or soap. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions or need further information, we are more than happy to discuss anything in greater detail as required.
Set conveniently between north and south coasts and two national parks (Exmoor and Dartmoor) it is an ideal jumping off point for daily adventures. If staying local there are many walks and local pubs to explore. The lovely local town of Wellington enjoys several great cafes a brilliant independent cinema and selection of independent retailers along with a three small supermarkets (including Waitrose)

    Roberta2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Eden Lodge! First came a warm welcome, first by by message - with lots of hints and tips, as well as directions that reassuringly matched up to the sat-nav; and then in person, to show us around. We arranged for a guest last minute for our first night and our hosts were very accomodating. After that we had the place, and the countryside to ourselves. First night we got some Devon cider in us and spent far too long in the hot tub. Once it was down to the two of us we cracked open our welcome message and plotted a course for the canal path, and on the one day of sunshine we had a picturesque stroll to make it to Sampford Pev, get refreshments at the Globe, before heading back before dark. We also stopped at the Prince of Wales on the way back, but were a little disappointed to find they had the kitchen closed for some time. Nice place though and got to meet some very cute doggos. Returning to the lodge we soaked our tired feet and legs and got the fire going for an amazing night's sleep. The rest of the trip was miserable weather so we either cwtched in the warmth of the stove with a book and some Netflix, or warmed up in the tub whilst watching the birds brave the weather to get to the feeders. One of the most relaxing, wholesome holidays ever.

  • Thank you so much for having us, was such a pleasure to stay here! You made us feel welcome from start to finish and were always ready to help. Such a beautiful cottage with everything you could need in a stunning location, perfect for a relaxing weekend away.

    Adam2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely accommodation in such a peaceful setting. The hosts have gone to great extent to make the lodge as tranquil and secluded as possible, not overlooked at all. Dog friendly with a secure garden, log burner and good heating so still warm and toasty in January. Hot tub has great views and we enjoyed a spot of star gazing. Would certainly recommend and would love to return in the future.

    Hana2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was everything we could have wanted, wished and hoped for. So glad such a lovely place is dog friendly it wouldn’t have been the same without bringing our pooch! Thank you so much !

  • Loved our stay at Eden lodge. We stayed over Christmas and was the perfect get away. Lodge looks exactly as pictured and was lovely and clean. We were met by Corinne on check in who showed us around and even bought us some yule log and mince pies which was a lovely touch (and was very yummy). The dog loved the garden which is large but secure so we didn't need to worry about her getting out (shes a Springer spaniel so is a good at these sorts of things) she loved roaming the garden while we lounged in the hot tub. Couldnt have asked for a nicer space to spend Christmas. Hosts are lovely, we didn't want to bother them too much but when we did they were great. Already thinking of returning in the summer!

    Rhys2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • WOW- what a beautiful place surrounded by fantastic scenery. Everything was immaculately clean and the fire was even lit when we arrived. They met us when we arrived to let us in and give us lots of information, even some suggestions about things to do. They then left us to it for the whole weekend. Our dogs had a wonderful time exploring the gardens and the surrounding walks. There was WiFi, catch up tv, log burning fire, all sorts of kitchen facilities and was extremely cosy over the winter season. Was perfect for a pre-Christmas getaway for my family and will defiantly be coming back.

10 minutes from the M5 and an easy drive to both North and South Devon coasts (30-45 mins) The Shed is a set in a secluded part of our garden with beautiful views across the fields and a view of the Culmstock Beacon. It is separate from the house with an en suite shower and toilet, a small kitchen area with fridge-freezer and a patio for your exclusive use. It has underfloor heating. Perfect for couples but a double pull out bed can be provided for children. It has TV and WIFi.
The Shed is a new build that offers peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. Tea and coffee are provided along with basic cooking equipment. Breakfast is not provided but, at your request, we can supply basics such as fresh bread, marmalade, butter and locally sourced eggs for your arrival. If you don’t feel like getting your own breakfast there is an excellent café/deli 3 minutes walk away that does a very satisfying breakfast. Also excellent for lunch! The local riverside pub is a short 5 minutes’ walk through the village and serves very good food both at lunch time and in the evenings. There are plenty of great walks, or just simple strolls along the river. For cyclists, this is an idyllic location. For example, Beer, on the Jurassic Coast is a 50 mile round trip – also Exmoor and Dartmoor are on the radar for enthusiastic cyclists. There are many shorter round trips to be enjoyed for those who do not want to go so far. Both my husband and I are keen cyclists and would be able to give help and advice on the best local rides. • I cannot put into words how wonderful the Luxury Shed is. It exceeded all my expectations and is quite simply the best AIRBNB place I have ever stayed in.

  • I rented this property for two of my employees working in the area, who have reported back to me how lovely the place is. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and had everything they needed. Thanks for letting my lads stay Moyra, excellent host.

This cosy, spacious apartment forms part of The Old Butchers - a large property home to an arts and crafts studio. We are located in the heart of Uffculme, a pretty village with two pubs, a café, fish and chips bar and two local shops. The area is great for dog walking, hiking, fishing and cycling with the river Culm close by. Uffculme is close to junction 27 and mid distance between Exeter and Taunton with a nearby rail link at Tiverton Parkway.
The flat at The Old Butchers is a self-contained annexe with an entrance via the craft studio at the front of the property. Don’t feel shy about looking around the studio! You’re welcome to use the extra space for colouring or other crafty pastimes!
Our village has a square with a cafe and a Co-op where everyone parks! The centre features little cottages that meander through narrow roads, past a medieval church and down to the river Culm. An old working wool museum named Coldharbour Mill is just a short walk from the property down an old mineral line.
  • Great place to stay, came with so many extras and great great great value for money ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • The apartment is really homely, extremely clean and very comfortable - it has everything you could possibly need for a weekend trip! We went for dinner the first night at the Ashill inn and it was delicious food, would definitely recommend. The accommodation does offer exceptional value for money and if you’re looking in this area I can’t imagine there’s a much better choice!

  • Lisa’s place is utterly charming. A gem, Sparklingly clean. Stylish eclectic and vintage decorative pieces, all combine to create cosy space with everything you need for a comfy stay. We stayed one night and it was absolutely perfect. Delicious sup at nearby Ashill Inn - smoked haddock scotch egg with curried mayonnaise so yummy. So lovely to have milk in fridge teabags and breakfast things Thankyou Lisa

  • I stayed in the apartment for one night whilst in the area for a working visit. It was ideal for me - a great location in a pretty village but well connected by road and train. It’s a really lovely, comfortable space and actually much more spacious than I was expecting. I only wish I could have stayed a few more nights! Highly recommended.

  • Very stylish and cosy (yet spacious) flat for me, my partner and my dog for Valentine’s weekend. Lovely touches like candles and blankets. A great equipped kitchen, and a very cosy living room to snuggle by the fire. The shower was amazing too. Great for dogs, he loved saying hello to the chickens and sheep, and great to have a wander round the farm and into the dog friendly field. Lovely rural spot yet a short drive to Cullompton Tesco superstore for supplies. Perfect little getaway!

  • We had a great stay at Anna's place. We were visiting family with our one year old and Anna made sure we had everything we needed; high chair, cot, baby bath etc. The place is easy to find and Anna and Alasdair were on hand if we needed them - even bringing us a mug of rice when i realised id forgotten to bring some for our dinner! The space is well designed and stylish - we would stay again if we come back to the area.

    Vicki2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay. A great base, warm and welcoming and ideally situated to explore the area.

    Alex2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, cozy and tidy. We enjoyed having fresh farm eggs in the morning from the chickens outside our front door. Anna was a great and helpful host. It was nice having a big field next door for our dog to run in. Pubs are a bit of a walk away but it was nice to walk through the fields and the town to reach them.

The Garden room is a very simple light warm space for two people, with its own bathroom and sitting space. Private access is via the garden gate with parking at the front of our house. You are welcome to share the garden, chickens, and our very bouncy dog Ruby. An excellent opportunity just off the M5 to enjoy the countryside, local pub (across the road), and friendly people. There are endless walks along the river often rewarded in seeing a kingfisher or maybe an otter.
The garden room has underfloor heating with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the birds in the garden. Although we are situated in the middle of the village the garden is very quiet. There is tea and coffee making equipment, plus a small fridge. I have recently added a desk to the room, making an excellent work space. The local pub and shop both sell excellent food, including a slap up breakfast; both are a very easy walk.
Culmstock is situated just off the M5 and is a brilliant stop over on any journey. Easy access to the south Devon coast, Exmoor and many other beautiful locations. If you wish to spend sometime exploring the countryside or just chilling out, it’s the place for you.
  • Lovely little room situated in Kay’s garden. Has everything you need for a short stay (bed, sofa, desk, kettle, fridge, en suit)...or a 2 week stay in my case! There were no cooking facilities in the room but I took my microwave with me. Kay was an amazing host, always happy to help...and Ruby their excitable dog was also very welcoming too. Overall, would definitely recommend as a place to stay in Culmstock.

  • We stayed here for one night to break up our journey from Cornwall to Gloucester and it was perfect, lovely warm and clean little place to stay with everything you need. Kay is a lovely host. The area is also very pretty with a good pub directly opposite.

  • The Garden Room is a little gem - perfect for a couples’ night away and such a gorgeous setting in the lovely village of Culmstock. Kay was a great host and everything we needed was provided. This was such great value too, we would highly recommend! Thanks Kay xxx

  • The Garden Room, set in the grounds of the home of very friendly and helpful hosts Kay and Mark in Culmstock, close to the M5 and A38, near Somerset/Mid Devon border, is a perfect place for a short, rural stopover. The accommodation has a very comfortable bed, shower room, adjustable heating, if required, a small fridge and was extremely clean. Although there's no kitchen, Kay's provided crocks, cutlery, tea and coffee pots, full milk jug in the fridge on arrival, kettle, trays and an array of tea's and coffees to start you off. Free WiFi enables access to TV etc., if required. There's a hairdryer, short extension leads and some chargers. During our stay, the cosy local pub opposite offered some good, wholesome food and real fires and the excellent Deli over the bridge, on the right, down the road, had a small selection of lovely homemade food, some ham, salad items, veg, homemade cakes and stocks of other basic supplies, plus an excellent cafe, that did super breakfasts, especially takeaway bacon/sausage, tomato and mushroom baps/sarnies, perfect to watch the England/South Africa Rugby Final, before we headed home! In peaceful surroundings, with very friendly people, this great little find fits the bill for a short stay. Highly recommended! Thanks again, Kay and Mark.

  • I highly recommend this room in a pretty Devon cottage not far from Tiverton parkway station. Lovely bathroom too. Caroline is very welcoming and the room is set out beautifully. It's a lovely cottage with a great garden. In case you're wondering, it does have WiFi as well. Halberton is also a very sweet little village; 250 yards from the cottage is nice pub that also serves good food and has friendly staff. To conclude, I couldn't recommend this airbandb highly enough. Go for it!

Because I was rushing to London for a train, Caroline deliberately drove me to solve my big problem, thank her very much.

Note that there are two (or maybe three) properties here: the 'loft' is on top of 'the barn', so you can hear (only slightly!) the up/downstairs neighbours if there are other guests.

  • Couldn't be happier! Anna's Airbnb was in a great location, was super spacious and comfortable, and she was a fantastic host. Great little touches in the Airbnb, like a little bit of milk on arrival and fresh eggs. Highly recommend!

  • The Loft is in a beautiful setting and perfect for a Devon escape. We stayed for three nights over the bank holiday with our puppy and enjoyed relaxing, drinking cider with the locals and walking. The fresh eggs from the chickens was a lovely touch!

  • We had a wonderful stay at The Loft. It is stylish and equipped with everything you need, including coffee machine, Smart TV and dishwasher. The bed was really comfortable, as was the sofa. Anna was an excellent host and always on hand. We took our dog on some great walks along the river towards Culmstock where there is a good pub. Also, a nice walk on Gaddon Down. The weather was brilliant so we drove to the North Devon Coast and stopped off at some river villages on Exmoor. We hope to come back!

  • A great three night stay at Anna’s apartment. This really is the most beautiful of getaways - The space is beautifully decorated, cosy and clean. Easily accessible, under 2 miles from junction 27 M5 and Tiverton Parkway. Musicians and Writers find this a useful retreat to work in. Dogs are not allowed in the bnb but they are welcome to stay with our dogs in the lobby next to the bnb where they can be as wet and muddy as they please, just so long as they are well behaved.
Although it is easily accessible, we are in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by farmland. There are no street lights so the stars look wonderful most nights. The pool (closed for the winter) has a swim pump that was developed for Olympic swimmers so it can be fierce - or as gentle as you like. There is a boat building workshop on the premises, and I am about to renovate the old stable so there is usually something going on though you have your private space, with a garden. There are plenty of herbs growing, and I have labelled most of them, so do help yourselves.
There are some lovely walks and a couple of National Trust properties locally. We are just an hours drive from Bristol, and you can visit anywhere in Devon and Somerset for a day trip. Next Spring we will have the swimming pool.
  • Very clean and fully equipped, great hosts , nice touch with fire lit on arrival .

  • We had a 4 night break here, with 5 boys (aged 8 -12) it was beautiful house, with stunning views. Despite storm Dennis, we enjoyed the hot tub every day. There are so many outdoor and indoor activities that the boys were fully entertained and we had little need to go anywhere else. The kitchen is beautifully equipped, wanting for nothing during the stay. Highly recommend holiday. The icing on the cake was a beautifully made Victoria sponge on arrival 😀 thank you Cath

  • We all absolutely loved our holiday and would highly recommend it to friends and family and would love to stay again. It was much bigger than what I thought it was going to be which was lovely for our 18 week old to have a quiet nap whilst everyone else could talk and the other children could play with no worries. The hot tub was amazing and relaxing the views were stunning and we were made to feel very welcome.

  • An exceptional welcome to a nice home, comfy beds and loads of extra heating in case we felt cold. Every thing we needed for a short stay. The local pub and cafe were an added bonus with lovely walks from the doorstep.

    Julie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a quiet village to stay with a friendly atmosphere, this is it. Lovely place close to all the major routes but far enough away to be a pocket of heaven. Local pub just a few minutes walk with great food and really friendly people. Try out the village cafe/shop for breakfast too! Theresa’s place is a great find. An old building with country character. Comfortable large double beds, basically a self-contained annex with your own entrance. Kitchenette & wc downstairs and two spacious bedrooms upstairs with dining area and bathroom. Theresa and Mick are really lovely people. They helped sort a table in the pub on arrival and generally made us feel welcome and at home. We’ll certainly be back on another trip to Devon.

  • Easy stay. Lovely accomodation with a pub and cafe within walking distance

    Greg2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house has en extra ambience, it is an Old English house in the country. Guests have their fully detached part of the house which gives the full sense of privacy. The rooms were sparkling clean. There is also a cool pub 4 min down the road. Thank you!

    Gutmiko2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mick & Teresa’s place has the cosiest most comfortable beds. It’s beautifully decorated & spotlessly clean. The mini kitchen is useful for rustling up snacks. We would have loved to be visiting in summer as it’s such a pretty area. The house is handy for the village cafe & pub. The locals are extremely welcoming & friendly. We thoroughly recommend the Devon & Somerset Gliding Club nearby for passenger flights or walks around the airfield & woodlands. A great find in a truly unique landscape of the Blackdown Hills.

    Alix2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay, any questions Theresa helped straight away. Nothing too much trouble. Comfy bed, lovely and clean. Our son loved Boris the dog! Local cafe was great for breakfast. We hope to use again as friends live near by, thanks again we great stay xx

  • Homely, cozy, and brilliant host. The lovely The Orchards Guest Suite was clean, welcoming and tranquil. Kate was warm and excellent at communication without being intrusive. Friendly, and well thought out with lovely, sustainable touches such as local produce, a beautiful breakfast, tea and coffee making. A very comfortable bed and heavenly place to hibernate in Devon. We were so happy to have been able to stay with our small dog, who also had a fabulous time. Kate is extremely professional and very talented. Everything is beautifully thought out from the little signs, charming plants on the terrace and fairy lights, fresh juice, jams, croissants and granola at breakfast, wonderful presentation.

We offer you a bright, newly converted barn, overlooking fields and lovely Somerset countryside with views overlooking the Quantock Hills and the Blackdown Hills. Open plan downstairs with fully equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge. Seperate downstairs toilet. Kitchen is equipped with washing machine, microwave etc and linen and towels. Two bedrooms, one with a Kingsize bed, the other a double. Outside has roomy parking and a patio with seating which catches the sun.
Highfield Barn is newly converted from its previous use as a sheep shed many years ago. The views sweep across fields to the Blackdown Hills, Culmstock Beacon, Wellington Monument and the Quantocks. Lying in bed you have the Quantock Hills and Brendon Hills in one direction and Culmstock Beacon in the other from a vantage point! Although Highfield Barn is complete and ready to be enjoyed, on other parts of the property a small amount of landscaping and tree planting is waiting to be completed. This is outside of the boundaries of the barn and we are planning this will be done in the spring and it will be even better still!
Although we are in the countryside there is easy access to the Quantocks, Brendon Hills and Exmoor as well as Culmstock Beacon and Blackdown Hills on the doorstep and Wellington Monument. The towns of Wellington, Tiverton, Honiton and Taunton are within easy reach. Wellington, being only five minutes drive, has many good eating places, supermarkets and local shops. Visit the museum for local history and there is also the famous Sheppy’s Cider to enjoy. Many footpaths surround the area. The local Pub is half a mile away offering good food. We are situated in the middle of both coasts so only 45 minutes drive to Watchet and equally to Lyme Regis.

Luxury Cottage annexe in the heart of the Devon countryside. Spacious and modern with all the amenities to escape, relax and explore the beautiful local area. Our own eggs, honey and marmalade make up part of a locally sourced breakfast basket. We are on the outskirts of a thriving village with easy access from the M5 (J28). Lovely walking from the door and in the local area. Ideal for couples or young families. Minimum 2 nights.
The cottage is open plan with living and kitchen area downstairs with a large mezzanine floor comprising bedroom and bathroom ( bath and shower) upstairs. There is a king- sized bed and optional junior bed and / or travel cot upstairs and a full- sized double bed settee downstairs to provide maximum flexibility. The cottage was completely rebuilt and refitted three years ago. In cooler days the cottage benefits from a large woodburner which makes the whole space comfortable and cosy. It's easy to use and we will help you ...and provide the logs!
We live in a pretty rural area on the edge of a friendly mid- Devon village with pub, post office, church and primary school. However we are only 3 miles from the M5 so there is excellent access to Exeter all parts of Devon, Somerset and even Cornwall. The nearest coastal village/ resort is Beer - 40 mins drive. This is not a particularly touristy area but offers a taste of 'real' Devon as well as good access to Dartmoor, Exmoor, and both North and South coasts. For more specialist interests there is a gliding centre nearby and also several coarse and trout fisheries on the doorstep as well as the full range of other rural pursuits.
  • I can highly recommend this place. The accommodation is very spacious and is modern and clean. On arrival, we found fresh farm eggs and delicious bacon, as well as bread, butter and milk. The unit is very comfortable and you don’t need to worry about getting cold in Autumn or winter. We actually turned off the heating and relied on the wood burner for warmth, which was ample for our family. Sally is a wonderful host and told us a bit about the house (a manor!) and it’s ancient history. We will definitely be back.

    Dewdney2019-10-27T00:00:00Z

  • Sally & her husband were lovely hosts, there home is beautiful and has everything you need, we will definitely go back, the extra touches of breakfast were very much appreciated.

  • Sally is the most welcoming host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and honestly couldn’t ask for more from the host and the accommodation. It is such a cosy, welcoming place and so well equipped, right down to the thoughtful breakfast basket. We would definitely recommend and return to this delightful place.

    Julia2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely annex. Sally and Miles were happy for us to explore the gardens and when our extended family visited they played in the amazing tree house!

    Claire2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Another AMAZING trip. We never want to leave. The small extra touches make it so special. Such a lovely welcoming couple who really couldn't do enough for us. The toys were a great hit with both our children enjoying them. Cant wait to return.

  • Spectacular house with a warm welcome from Emily and John. A very convenient stop to break our long journey from Cornwall, close to motorway but still in the depths of the countryside.

  • Super hosts. Lovely room, help and breakfast. You‘ll love it

    Stephanie2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely barn conversion in superb rural location. Big double room with large en-suite bathroom. Good breakfast of cereal, toast, bagels etc. Nice pub 10min walk away serving good cheap, huge pub meals and a selection of real ales.

  • My friend and I had the most wonderful stay at Emily and Johns beautiful place. Their home is gorgeous and our room was large and very clean, with an en suite shower and very comfy bed overlooking their stunning garden where we spent a lovely time in the mornings. A simple breakfast was also provided which was great and set us up nicely for our days exploring. Thank you Emily for giving us some fab advice and recommendations on places to see. The local pub was unfortunately booked on our last night but Emily recommended another place not far (The Blue Ball Inn FYI) which was incredible. I would definitely recommend staying at Emily &John's place and if I am ever fortunate to visit beautiful Somerset again, I would stay with them again in a shot!

    Aysha2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was a one night stopover for us to break up a trip to Cornwall. It was a great choice. The place itself is set in a tiny village. It’s very peaceful and there’s very little traffic around. The pub is only a few minutes walk away and Emily had booked us a table there for our dinner, the food was lovely. Our room was large and clean. The shower was decent and there were tea and coffee making facilities. We had access to most of the house and garden. The house is lovely and we spent some time in their wonderful garden. Emily and John were both friendly, one of them was always on hand. It’s a very relaxed environment and Johns playlist added to a nice ambiance. If we’re passing through again we’ll definitely be looking into staying here again.

The Roost is a new self-contained loft with its own secure garage below which borders pasture farmland. This small hamlet is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with no street lighting and stunning views across the Culm Valley. There are country walks from your door, with pubs nearby. Dogs are welcome, but please understand that sheep and cows need to live in peace in the field right next door.
The Roost is accessed via curved garden steps which lead to a stable door. The main room is spacious, light and airy with comfy sofa and dining table. Enjoy breakfast at the large balcony window opening straight onto the neighbouring fields. The contemporary and stylish kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, microwave, dishwasher and a fridge with small freezer compartment. The bathroom has a large walk-in power shower with twin heads. The roomy bedroom has fitted wardrobes with more field views to the nearby woods. We use ecological products as much as possible and reduce or recycle where we can. Outside, you have a private balcony and deck that is just perfect for sundowners. We start you off with a pint of local milk, teas, coffee and cereals but let us know if you would prefer non-dairy milk. Underneath the loft is a secure garage space with washer, dryer and sink. Just perfect for storing your bike or classic car, surfboards or boat.
Hemyock and Culmstock both have pubs that serve fabulous food, and there are many others just a few miles away. Breakfast at The Strand in Culmstock is highly recommended. There is a working woollen mill museum at Uffculme - 5 miles away and the tow-path of the peaceful Grand Western Canal is nearby.
  • Amazing little place to stay, we loved the views out of the windows! We want to come back and try out the telescope when there is a clear night sky!

  • We loved staying at the Roost, it was immaculate and had everything we needed for a lovely weekend away in the countryside. Chris and Karen were easy to communicate with and responded quickly to messages. They checked we had everything we needed after we had arrived and were available if we needed any advice on the area. Book this placed for a quiet countryside retreat! A great bolt hold for the area.

There are two pubs situated a stones throw from the house that serve local ales and food. There is also a SPAR shop in the village, as well as a farm shop near the railway station for amenities. Parking is available near the house.

  • Claire was away when we visited but her husband Rob was there to meet and greet us. Rob made sure our all needs were met and recommended a local gastro pub that was less than 200m from the house. We were able to fix ourselves some breakfast in the morning in a relaxed fashion. Rob and Claire offer a great stop over being close the M5 motorway and walking distance from Tiverton Parkway station. I would highly recomend Rob and Claire's place and their cats are lovely too.

  • A very professional BnB experience run by two very friendly and enthusiastic people. We enjoyed our stay at Brambles. The communication was clear and easy. The BnB is located in beautiful countryside, with plenty of nice walks to stumble on. Alison and David were friendly and helpful. They seem to have been running the BnB for a while and have made it feel seemless as a guest.

  • Alison and David were fantastic hosts. They met us at the car, showed us around, gave helpful hints on places to visit and where to eat. Breakfast was generous and delicious. So welcoming. Cannot speak more highly, and would recommend this property to anyone.

The ensuite room is impeccably clean and the bed so comfy we were reluctant to get up in the morning but then we would have missed a super breakfast. David and Alison go that extra mile to ensure your stay is as enjoyable as possible, they are super hosts.Highly recommended.

  • Wow! Old Bridwell was a stunning place with very cute cottages. Steve (the host) was very friendly and approachable and he was there to say hi and bye during our stay which was lovely. Check in and check out was relaxed and easy. The cottage itself was beautiful inside and out and Steve thought of everything, from the little welcome gestures dotted around the cottage, to the generosity of food baskets and a fridge stocked with more than just essentials. He even catered for our dog, which was unexpected but so sweet. Steve communicated very well and in thorough detail and he answered all questions we had quickly. We didn't need for anything at all during our stay and we made good use of the fire pit close to the cottage. Great for a run around for dogs. We'll definitely be back soon!

    Dipa2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Communication and information provided by Steve was brilliant! There were so many thoughtful touches we really felt like it was a home from home!

  • Thank you for a wonderful stay! The Pumphouse is a beautiful cottage. The gorgeous welcome hamper and little touches like fresh flowers were fantastic and really made it. Tanya's scones were the best. From booking to the actual stay, Steve and Tanya were responsive, friendly and thoughtful. The cottage had everything you could need, including a cafetiere, egg cups etc in a beautiful setting. I am only sorry it was such a fleeting visit. I'll be back with my friends!! Thank you both so much. I can't recommend your lovely place enough. Can I move in??

You’ll love our peaceful neighbourhood, comfy bed, kitchen & great breakfast. It suits couples, solo adventurers, business travellers & families. Please note we welcome well-behaved pets but the bedrooms are generally kept as a pet-free zone for hygiene reasons. Please let us know in advance if you hope to bring your pet.
You are welcome to share our living spaces if you wish, but equally we are happy if you choose to do your own thing. If you would like to meet our livestock /'therapy animals' in training, please ask. Breakfast is on a DIY basis - we will provide you with a wide selection of breakfast items & you are most welcome to help yourself to a cooked or continental breakfast. We would request that you clean up after yourself though. Most dietary requirements can be easily accommodated if you let us know in advance. Ours is a detached house on a smallholding of 7 acres. We have only one neighbour & the pub is within walking distance. More amenities are available a short drive away (Wellington is 5 miles away & Taunton a 15 minute drive). We enjoy being a countryside venue but with easy access to the motorways. There are great country pubs & local amenities nearby, from Sheppy's cider farm, tea rooms and lovely walks in the Blackdown hills & beyond. A little further afield Totnes, Glastonbury, Wookey hole & Cheddar Gorge are all make great day trips. There's just so much to see & do in this part of the West Country!

  • Fantastic Hosts , had such a lovely stay , thank you so much for putting up with us for so long , Sharon and Stewart , p.s missing the cats already

    Sharon2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely large house conveniently situated along the A38. Perfect for us with our springer spaniel, Neil had cleared the sheep out of one of the paddocks so our crazy spaniel could get some exercise after a long journey from the north west. Our dog slept in the van overnight but we did bring her into the kitchen in the morning for feeding and pets are welcome in the kitchen area of the house which is very large. Plenty of secure parking for our camper van it was ideal for what we needed and good value for money. A self service Breakfast was left out both mornings and was ample to start the day with lots of teas and coffee. There are Cats in the house but we hardly saw them although our dog did try to say hello (without success :-) Mern is very sociable and a lovely lady very friendly and chatty. Neil is a bit more reserved but was always there to greet us and make sure we had everything we needed. A good stay we would recommend especially if you have pets that need exercise in a secure and safe environment after a long car journey.

    Warren2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Merne and Neil provide excellent accommodation and a lovely place to stay with lovely people. I would thoroughly recommend this place.

I rate this stay top marks and will definitely be back! W&L Bale
