This is a newly renovated room at the Royal Hotel Sofala. Enjoy a comfy queen bed. You have access to the lovely balcony above the pub where you can see the whole town.
Wonder around the amazing historic buildings and be sure to check out the river behind the pub (maybe even find some gold).

Historic hotel, built 1862, in the oldest surviving gold mining town in Australia. Fresh air and see the stars at night. This room has been newly renovated including new beds (queen and single). The bathroom is shared with other guests.
Sofala is a historic gold town. There are beautiful preserved buildings and homes in the town. We have a lovely river behind the pub where you can try your luck at gold panning.
  • If you’re looking for a truly unique stay, then this pub has it all. This +100 year old pub makes you feel like walking back in time. The hospitality is outstanding, the locals are friendly and good for a chat. More importantly, the rooms are clean and well presented. Beds are modern whilst the room has a real rustic charm. The royal hotel in sofala is the perfect weekend destination if you want to drop off the grid for a while and enjoy some real Australian hospitality!!!!!

A chalet-style double room with queen bed & ample storage space. Mount Calm is a 160-acre property situated at the top of Mount Rankin. It offers its guests a comfortable and relaxing stay with spectacular views of the Duramana region. I ask guests to please be mindful of water usage as the ONLY water is tank water. Ideal for individuals or couples wanting the peace and quiet of a rural escape. Come and explore the central west or just tune in to nature and drop out of the rat race.
The room is well equipped with a metal framed queen bed, 2 bedside chest of drawers, 3 built in wardrobes, with separate shelving and ample storage space above.
The property is about half an hour to Bathurst. Mount Calm is situated at the top of Mount Rankin with sealed roads almost to the front gate (700 metres of unsealed road). Eglinton village is approximately half way to Bathurst and it's small shop will come in handy for convenience items. Bathurst has some excellent restaurants and cafes to choose from to match all budgets. Please feel free to ask for further guidance.
  • We were very happy about the location. We haven't got the chance to talk much with Michelle but Gary wad absolutely awesome. He welcomed us and gave us heaps of tips on where to go and what to visit. Thanks to him we felt like home. Thank you Gary

  • Very tidy, nice and quiet place with some amazing views and finally was able to see some kangaroos 😊

  • Beautiful farm where you will enjoy watching the scenery, wildlife (roos, exotic birds), and the dogs, the alpaca and sheep. We stayed in a room which was clean and big enough for a couple, but the highlight was definitely the farm itself. We really enjoyed our stay at Michelle’s and will hopefully be back soon.

We moved from Sydney to Bathurst about 15 years ago because we wanted to live in a rural setting, that was affordable. Bathurst is such a beautiful place to live and visit because the people are so friendly and helpful. And we can still vsit family and friends in Sydney as it is not too far away. We love our coffee and Bathurst has a large variety of cafes and restaurants to choose from.We are very spoilt for choice. We love living in Limekilns,as it is so relaxing, peaceful, private and a perfect escape from our busy working and children’s school lives. When we are driving along Limekilns road, everyone waves to you even if you don’t know them. We love waking up in the morning and seeing kangaroos out the kitchen window, echnidas in the front yard or kookaburras on the side of the road.
  • Wow just wow!!! What a stunning stylish home away from home Carrie has created this place to be. If your looking for a weekend to really switch off from the busy city life and just be, then this is the place. Georgous sunsets and views that just make you want to come back for more. Carrie goes that extra mile and provides everything you need for breakfast, including fresh eggs. When your on the road travelling, this is one less thing you need to stress about buying. Thank you Carrie!

  • It's so rare so not have any corners in your room that makes it unique! Of course there is the view, the breakfast in the table picnic under an old tree.. But what was also really nice was the little touches like the breakfast (fresh eggs, cereal, milk, bread etc.) and the nice smell in the room when you arrive! We really enjoyed our stay, thank you!

  • Arianne's place is amazing, very clean and nicely decorated. It's on a farm so it was nice to get away from the chaos of city life and have a quiet getaway. There are also a lot of lovely animals! Arianne's two dogs are also friendly and well behaved. I enjoyed my stay very much and I will definitely consider visiting again. :)

    Trista2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, great food at the local pub in Capertee.

    Harrison2018-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Arianne is a fabulous host, her farm stay is a gem nestled among hills and farmland, perfectly relaxing and perfect to sit watching the sun rise and set. Arianne has a gorgeous Staffy pup, full of life and fun to play with. I was in Orange viewing a dog from a breeder with no intention to buy that day but as it turned out the breeder let me take the pup as i live over 4 hours away. Arianne let me bring the pup to the property at short notice and went above and beyond to accommodate us. We all had an amaizing time with Arianne and love our stay at her property. Keep in mind that this is a farm, there are cows mooing, flies outside, bugs and other things outside that are usually found on farms bit ot is nothing bug repellent and closed in shoes if walking around the property cant fix... ..the trip from Orange (GPS GIUDED) through Hill End to the property is gravel road, steep inclines and lots of wildlife so take Ariannes advise on directions as it will be alot less sketchy although I loved the view on the way but suggest not taking that route at night. all in all it is a fabulous place to kick back and relax, beds are super comfy and all your needs are met. we will be staying again

Such a lovely environment to bring your family and have some quality family time also Will 100% be coming back to stay again.

  • Linda's place is a great spot for a family, or small group of friends to stay in, & is very peacefully located but only a short drive to Capertee general store, garage, & pub which serves good meals. The cabin was comfortable with all amenities provided & a good living area. We would be very happy to stay there again. Anne

  • Stunning area and wonderful cabin! 10/10, will be back.

  • Had a great stay at capertee, very peaceful. VERY well equipped for dogs with a big yard and beds etc. Much appreciated

    Brett2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was great to deal with, quick responses to emails & SMS. Although Capertee is a very small town, it is centrally located to Mudgee area for wineries etc & 4wding. The cabin was great for our small family & our Boston Terrier. The dog play area was fully fenced & secure, so you could leave them there all day if you wanted too. All amenities worked perfectly. Hill End, Sofala & Newnes are good 4wd day trips to keep everyone busy. Log fire was awesome on our cold nights. Highly recommend a stay at Linda’s “Upton Downs”

  • Out of the way was exactly what we wanted. The Dempsey cottage is beautifully appointed with many thoughtful touches. The stars from the spa was a highlight. This is a complete getaway and if you simply cannot bear disconnecting, make sure you have Telstra cell/mobile. A very special place.

  • Excellent place to disconnect and recharge, really nice house ! Jayne has been super responsive and helpful throughout our entire trip. Can only recommend! :)

    Edwige2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is absolutely everything you would want for a weekend away: • Friendly accommodating host • Beautiful View’s of rolling hills • Hot tub under the stars with a plastic wine glass in hand 🍷 • Fancy robes in the closets for your journey to the spa • Lots of wood for a cozy fireplace • A kitchen with every utensil you could possibly need • SUPER comfy beds • Dining table, & indoor and outdoor coffee tables for games and nibbles! . The dirt road through the back pasture makes for a wonderful stroll that takes about an hour or so to loop you around back to the house. (Over a creek bed, past grazing sheep and Heeps of kangaroos hopping about over the hill.) • Fenced yard for your dog to easily explore in and out of the place and very friendly dogs next door :) • If you don’t have Telstra there is no service and no WiFi so everyone can ignore their phones and be in the moment.

    Kaylee2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The only warning this place should come with is that you’ll want to stay longer! This cottage was perfect for our weekend get away, being able to take our dog with us was such a special added bonus. The cottage was clean and Jayne had thought of EVERYTHING you might need whilst there, from platters for cheese boards to seperate towels for the spa and also a coffee pod machine. Everything in the cottage was of a high standard and had a great homely feel to it. The spa at night under the stars was spectacular, it was equally as good in the afternoon in the day light with a fresh country breeze. We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and would love to make it a regular get away. Couldn’t fault this place on a single thing!

  • We loved Andrew & Rebecca’s 20Mile cottage, 25mins or so from Bathurst and very clean, honest and comfortable. Andrew was there to welcome us on site and had a good chin wag. Made us feel very welcome. Cheers Jeff.

  • It's our second year staying at the farm. Both occasions we had a lovely time feeding the sheep every day and went cherry picking in Orange. It's an easy access to Bathurst, Mudgee, and historical towns like Sofala and Hill End. The place is clean and fully equipped, perfect for family with kids like us. Andrew is a perfect host and thank you for everything for our stay :)

    Cindy2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew's property gives a city person a great taste of country life. It was wonderful to stay at his property, which he and his family clearly thoroughly enjoy and cherish. We really loved an excursion in his ute to feed his sheep. We chose to bring in most of our food, only eating out on our adventures to Bathurst, Orange, Sofala and Hill End, all of which were a pleasant drive away. The Minerals Museum in Bathurst is sensational, not to be missed. As our the iconic old historic towns of Hill End and Sofala. We highly recommend staying at this sparkling clean and very spacious home.

The Hydromajestic is an historic hotel recently renovated and has spectacular views over the Megalong Valley Between Sydney and Lithgow via Bilpin: In and around Bilpin fruit growers allow you to pick your own fruit fresh off the tree. Stop at the lookout over the widest canyon in the world - the Capertee Valley SHOPPING There is a general store at Capertee (12km away) which stocks the essentials but if you are doing your shopping on the way, we recommend stopping at one of the larger towns - Richmond, Lithgow, Mudgee, Katoomba etc
  • Wonderful place for a weekend away! Sonya went above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for. The place was clean and stylish and immediately we felt at home.

  • We had an amazing first glamping experience at ‘Stargaze’. The place was secluded, quiet and peaceful. We checked in and was welcomed with red wine and the best honey we’ve ever tried! We also did horse riding for the first time and absolutely loved it. Thank you again for such a wonderful stay.

  • Great stay lovely and clean glamping tents are amazing !!

    Peta2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing and styling glamping, all the decorations were so well designed. Love the place!

    Xinyang2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed at Dreamtime for 3 nights and we couldn’t ask for a better glamping experience. Everything about the tent is extremely thought out and very stylish. Cooking food at the kitchenette and the grill was easy and all the utensils were provided but do bring your own ingredients and spices! The location is absolutely stunning and highlights everything Capertee has to offer. Just prepare for long road trips if you want to go to wineries and caves but it is worth it as the sceneries along the way are breathtaking. Sonya and Soren were absolutely wonderful and sweet so do make sure to pay a visit and have a cup of tea with them. Don’t hesitate if you need help with your tent or planning out your trip as they are more than happy to help you out. I can’t recommend Turon enough and I’m so happy to have celebrated our 3rd anniversary there.

    Jenny2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • This glamping experience is worth the price you’re paying. The tent was amazing with little touches of the owners and next to stables where horses stayed, we were able to pat and see the horses come up to our tent. It was such a great way to get away from the city and recharge. I highly recommend staying here for the weekend. Although just beware, for those who have a smaller car the drive into Turon Gates is gravel and a little of roading.

    Nicole2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing time, total relaxation in the most serene environment. The glamping tents are out of this world, complete luxury and well equipped. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

    Karen2019-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • this is gonna be a short one: out tent is called "dream time" and we both agree that there's no other words more appropriately named for our time spent there. it's all you need to get away from the noise and relax while enjoying the great hospitality of Sonya, our host, offers. there's no thing better.

  • Sonya was a fantastic host and we had a brilliant time! Our 4yo adored the horses and her pony ride was the highlight of her week (Julia was an outstanding guide!!). The sense of isolation and peacefulness at the cabin was the perfect escape. Great walks on the property too. Turon Gates is an incredible place to stay and we look forward to visiting again in the future!!

  • We’ve just had a wonderful weekend at Eagles nest with two families. The photos don’t do it justice. Perfect house, cozy fire. Lovely views of the property, we all said we would love to come back.

    Sally2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! Turon Gates is a breathtaking property and the cabin we stayed in was warm, rustic and perfectly suited for our small group. We really appreciated the thoughtful gestures around the home and loved going for a horse ride in the morning despite the cold weather! We didn’t want to leave, but hope to return to stay in a hilltop cottage as well one day x

  • Wow, what a stay! Jayne’s property and the cottage itself was breathtaking and was made even better with the thoughtful touches, the lovely welcome and of course the spa under the stars. Being able to walk across the property was great and we loved sitting out the front watching the sunset and playing chess. If you’re thinking of booking to stay, do yourself a favour and book! We loved how quiet the area was and getting off grid was a blessing!

    Ellesha2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing, relaxing and all you could ask for. Jayne’s house has the most luxurious linens and furnishings. The bed is wonderfully comfortable and the spa bath out amount the stars is amazing. The yard was perfect for our three Samoyed girls too. All you could need is at your fingertips. We would love to come back one day.

  • An absolute treasure!! Absolutely everything about this place was perfect. We were so surprised how beautiful and serene the location was. The pictures are amazing though even still, certainly don’t do it justice! Jayne and Simon - thanks again!! We will certainly be back

    Michelle2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jayne's place is complete relaxation. The highlight was the spa under the stars. We would definitely stay again, and longer next time.

    Lisa2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve stayed at countless Airbnb’s and jaynes is by far the best we have ever stayed at. The cottage is beautiful, spacious & clean, the kitchen is stocked with everything you need and even had a bottle of wine and snacks waiting for us. The balcony overlooking the hills is stunning and the perfect spot for dinner & drinks while watching the sunset or breakfast as the mist lifts and kangaroos hop by! We went hiking with our 2 big dogs to the dam and they didn’t wanna leave, with 400 acres for them to run through this holiday was more for them than us 😂 the spa at night was amazing to watch the Milky Way, we’ve stayed all over Australia and never seen it so bright and beautiful! We loved that by staying here too we were supporting Australia’s drought stricken community. If you are after an off the grid romantic stay I couldn’t recommend Jaynes place enough we are already planning our return in the winter!

    Ellen2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • WOW!!!! This place is amazing, everything about this cottage is beautiful and the views are spectacular. Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting to get away for a weekend. Jayne was wonderful, and kindly gave us wine and snacks ready to go. Best part was relaxing in the spa with a glass of wine and watching the stars!

    Tara2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved spending a couple of days at Jayne's place. Such a gorgeous property! Jayne was easy to communicate with and extremely helpful. The spa outdoors was the highlight for us - relaxing with a glass of wine and enjoying the views. Our 2 doggies loved roaming around the big backyard. Will definitely come again. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful property with us Jayne!

  • This place is absolutely breathtaking! Don't be fooled, the photos do not do it justice! It was better than I could have ever expected! Part of that was being off the grid (be prepared, if you are not with Telstra, you will be 20 minutes from being in contact). I thought this would be more difficult, but it was actually the best part about it. No distractions, just the beautiful scenery and the romance. Do yourself a favour and be immersed in this property. Thanks so much Jayne for sharing this space with us!

  • Was a clean, tidy, self sustained home. Loved the view, the walks, wildlife, and was a great place to recharge the batteries. Loved the fact that there was a working VCR & got to watch movies just like when growing up. Idyllic place to get away. Loved our friendly four legged friend, Max. Who greeted us upon arrival, and a couple times during our stay. Highly recommended. Will be back. Thanks again, Peter!

Comfortable rustic accommodation in a recently renovated quaint original cottage surrounded by wildlife and birds. I ask guests to please be mindful of water usage as the ONLY water is tank water. As we are on a property out of town, you may also encounter creepy crawlies. Ideal for individuals or couples wanting the peace and quiet of a rural escape. Come and explore the central west or just tune in to nature and drop out of the rat race.
The cottage was completed in early 2015. It has a large living area, wood fire, dining table and chairs and a serving hatch through to the kitchen. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob and also a range cooker for nostalgic guests. It also has a fridge freezer and ample storage space. Basic crockery and cutlery is provided. There is also a walk-in pantry to the rear of the kitchen which houses the hot water tank. The room contains a queen bed with occasional chair, polished wood floors, a double wardrobe with 2 drawers and two bedside chests of drawers. The bathroom has a bath (shower above), toilet and wash basin.
The property is about half an hour to Bathurst. Mount Calm is situated at the top of Mount Rankin with sealed roads almost to the front gate (700 metres of unsealed road). Eglinton village is approximately halfway to Bathurst and its small shop will come in handy for convenience items. Bathurst has some excellent restaurants and cafes to choose from to match all budgets. Please feel free to ask for further guidance.

Within a short driving distance to the Mudgee wine region and to other historical areas such as Hill End, it is a perfect location. The home itself has comfortable beds and great amenities for large groups, and for the kids there are some very friendly cows and ponies to keep them occupied. Also a great outdoor area including fire pit to watch the stars in the evening. Not a lot of internet/phone signal out there but frankly that’s part of the charm. Switch off and enjoy the fresh air!

  • Turon Gates is one of my favorite places to go to get away from the city! Definitely will recommend staying in a cabin if you prefer your own privacy (in terms of bathrooms and showers) - I chose the cabin this time round to ease a friend into the idea of camping. Otherwise, camping is also great if you're keen to rough it up - they have a toilet/shower block, don't fret! Soren and Sonya are great hosts and Turon Gates will not disappoint! ☺️

The cottage is located on the grounds of the property 'Portland Gate" and guests have their own private outdoor entertainment area with a BBQ and fire pit which is ideal to sit around in the evening and stargaze.
The property is home to many native birds and animals who pass through including wallabies, kangaroos and wombats. You can enjoy feeding and watching the many native birds feed on the bird feeders. The cottage is located at the rear of the property at 1146 Pipers Flat Road, Portland nestled amongst natural bushland with a mountain view from the living and entertainment area. The property was a wildlife refuge many years ago and native animals still visit and we respect and provide them space.
The property is just 20 minutes from Lithgow, 6 minutes to Wallerawang and three minutes to the township of Portland. The city of Bathurst is approximately a 35 minutes drive . The old cement works silos have recently been painted by a world renowned artist. The scenic Capertee Valley is approximately a 45 minute drive and Pearson's Lookout which overlooks the valley has a magnificent view.
  • Barbara and Ian’s Secret Refuge is absolutely amazing. The house is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. The natural light is delightful and welcoming. • We had a wonderful stay at the Trig Station Hut which dates back to 1875. Glenn was a splendid host and he was very considerate throughout our stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a rustic and an out of ordinary experience.

  • We had a quick stay at Trigg hut after camping in Lightning Ridge. The kids were super happy to have a comfy bed and fun atmosphere. Quirky and cool! We’ll definitely be back. Glenn was very quick with response as GPS was tricky and he heated up the place upon arrival which was amazing as it was pretty cold.

  • We stayed in the Trig Hut which was so cosy and warm. We couldn’t have asked for better weather with gorgeous sunsets. This was a unique, remote experience which I would recommend to anyone wanting to stay somewhere unusual and peaceful. Glenn’s hospitality was fabulous and happy to offer suggestions on where to go if you really wanted to leave the cosy hut.

    Nicole2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Unique, cosy and clean! Very interesting property with lots to look at. The Trigg Hut was spacious and very comfortable. The wood fire and gas heater kept us warm on what was a cold weekend. Glen was great with local tips and things to see and do. Thanks for a memorable weekend!

  • Staying here is a great experience. Glenn is a welcoming host and the park is a wonderful place to wander around. We really loved building a cosy fire in the evenings and enjoying the peace. Great for a weekend escape, a unique way to explore NSW countryside

  • Glenn’s Artisan’s Park is truely a dream to visit. There are playful, creative sculptures everywhere that really will shift your perspectives of living, being sustainable and eco-friendly with the minimal cost to earth. The beds are really comfortable, the fireplace brings peacefulness within, the hot shower was rejuvenating. We were well looked after by Glenn, his brother James and their animal companions Daisy and Button. Glenn has a well of knowledge and he kindly shared the local knowledge for us to explore the surrounding area the next day, and the communication was very efficient. We had a very restful sleep and a very pleasant and fun stay. We can’t wait for our next visit.

Artisans Park is a unique farm set 1000m above sea with winter snow.
  • We had a great stay in the Artisans Park. The location is spectacular, with 360 degrees views over the surrounding countryside from the peak which is at a height of 1,000 metres. We rented the Whistle Stop Railway Station for our young family. Glenn told us straight away that it was a smallish space, but we went for it nonetheless and had a brilliant time. There was a stove for heating with plenty of cut wood, useful for the evening chills. Kids bicycles were available and they enjoyed it a lot. This is a secluded place, it feels far from the rest of the world, and yet the road to get there is easy even without a 4x4. Bring your own food, but there is a small shop to buy water and milk. Glenn answered our queries very quickly, and Bjorn did a great job showing us around the place. Bathrooms are shared but very clean. Altogether a great place for a unique experience.

  • This is a very unique property. We ended up staying in the army watch tower which gave us great views of the valley. We particularly enjoyed watching the sun come up over the valley in the morning. Glenn was very welcoming & gave us an insight into his future plans for his property. We look forward to returning to check out his progress.

  • We had a great time at Whistle Stop. The accommodation itself was really interesting, with the fire it was nice and cosy, and we had a great time sitting around playing snap with the kids. The bathroom was only a short walk away and super clean. The accommodation is located on a big property with lots of interesting sculptures, great views overlooking the valley, and plenty of unique photo spots. Glenn was a gracious and friendly host and didn't mind our kids exploring and playing all over the property. We had a great time, and hopefully one day will travel back this way again so we can stay at the cottage.

Comfortable rustic accommodation in a recently renovated quaint original cottage surrounded by wildlife and birds. The cottage has three bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom with bath. I ask guests to please be mindful of water usage as the ONLY water is tank water. As we are on a property out of town, you may encounter creepy crawlies. Ideal for small groups, families, and couples wanting a space to themselves. Come and explore the central west or just tune in to nature and drop out of the rat race.
The cottage was completed in early 2015. It has a large living area with 3 sofabeds, a wood fire, a dining table and chairs and a serving hatch through to the kitchen. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob and also a range cooker for nostalgic guests. It also has a fridge freezer and ample storage space. Basic crockery and cutlery is provided. There is also a walk-in pantry to the rear of the kitchen which houses the hot water tank and a small sunroom, which contains a single sofabed. Bedroom 1 has a queen bed with an occasional chair, polished wood floors, a double wardrobe with 2 drawers and two bedside chest of drawers. Bedroom 2 is the single room with a queen futon, wardrobe and chair. Bedroom 3 has a double bed, a double wardrobe with 2 drawers and 2 side chest of drawers. The cottage has a new bathroom with a bath (shower above), toilet and wash basin.
• The cottage was clean and comfortable, a good space to relax in. The last part of the drive in is along a dirt road and then through a gate and a short section of private road, and we were a little uncertain of our whereabouts. Michelle was prompt in responding to questions raised, and very helpful and considerate. Once in the cottage we felt very much at home, and we appreciated and enjoyed our stay there. Thanks Michelle!

  • My partner and our little dog had an amazing, peaceful, private and nature filled getaway at this stunning cottage. The location was really easy to find and the hosts were extremely prompt with their replies. The cottage was so comfortable and quaint and we loved the fire place! It was an enjoyable experience having a relaxing bath/shower looking out onto the land. There were plenty of games to play and the kitchen was a great setup, everything we needed for cooking home cooked meals and even lots of condiments, coffee and milk. The property is so big our doggie enjoyed her daily walks and even got to see her first kangaroos! Thank you so much for the experience!

  • The cottage was even nicer than we expected with a lovely mezzanine bed and separate bedroom, perfect for our weekend away with friends. The hosts were really nice and stopped by to tell us about the property and showed us around and even introduced us to the alpacas. Thank you for a great weekend, we hope to come back again!

  • This is a really unique place to get away from it all. We really enjoyed the wood fire, the fire pit and the serenity of the property. So much space and privacy! The cottage is so unique with old fashioned charm, well equipped and the kids loved the loft. I also enjoyed having no TV, it was so nice to switch off. We would love to go back again!

  • We had a fantastic stay at Kerry-Anne's! It was rustic, beautifully located, peaceful, away from civilisation and everything we could wish for for a remote weekend away! The cabin was exactly as described and the property was gorgeous. The fire place and electric blankets kept us cozy, and while the kids complained about the lack of internet (I did actually have reasonable reception on Telstra which I never told them), we ended up playing tons of board games and connected with them in more meaningful ways than we had in quite a while! A very scenic drive to Mudgee and the vineyards indeed. Loved our stay, hoping to visit again!

    Inge2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lakeland’s Cottage was the perfect location for a weekend away - breathtakingly charming log cabin, beautiful surroundings, and endless hours spent warming up in front of a fire made for a great experience. Communication was easy and Kerry-Ann gave great directions and local tips. We already can’t wait to go back :)

A lovely 19th cottage, tastefully furnished and easily accessible to the southern hemisphere's most spectacular valley. Capertee is adored by birdwatchers internationally and our garden is home to dozens of species. A short walk to a fabulous pub.
Get away from it all in this beautifully renovated 1880s house. Bird-watchers paradise. If you want a break in a romantic old house with the best the old world has to offer - deep, clawfoot bath, comfy beds, sunny verandah - come to the Station Masters House. We have a satellite TV with built in DVD, a CD player and iPod dock. If you want to curl up with the newspaper, sit on the verandah with a good book or spend a few hours lingering over dinner in the spacious kitchen, this is the place for you. There is a huge enclosed garden, including flourishing herbs for your use, and the spectacular Capertee Valley on your doorstep, world famous for bird watching. See if you can spot the wonderful Regent Honeyeater. But you don't even have to leave the garden to spot fabulous birds. We have a Bower-bird nesting on site as well as visiting lorikeets, wrens and others. Train enthusiasts will delight in the heritage-listed station nearby. There are three bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed, another with a queen, and another with three antique singles. Linen and warm doonas are provided for all beds and there are electric blankets on the King and Queen beds. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, sharp German knives, a food processor, a serious cast iron casserole pot and plenty of glassware and crockery. Efficient gas heating will keep everyone warm. There is a small library overlooking the garden and a lounge room with three comfy sofas. Lovely art on the walls adds character and beauty. Here are some of our favourite vantage points: Sitting on the front verandah under the grape vine. In summer the vine forms a translucent green curtain providing shade and beauty. In autumn it turns a spectacular purple and in winter when the leaves have dropped the sun streams through. It's a beautiful sight from both of the front bedrooms - the King and the singles. Lying in the bath looking out to the fig tree. Having an afternoon snooze in the Queen sized bed looking out to the eucalypts. The original 19th century glass in the bedroom window slightly distorts the outlook into graceful Art Nouveau lines. Sitting on the back terrace in the early evening and watching the gum trees turn pink as the sun sets. This is also the perfect spot to watch the bower birds feed on the fig tree. Yes, we like to share the fruit with them! Come morning when you open the curtains in the Queen bedroom, you're likely to see brilliant red and green king parrots feeding on the white cedar. Reading in the library armchair with a coffee and the morning sun. There are novels, cookbooks, non-fiction and a great selection of short stories.
We are perched at the top of one of the world's most spectacular valleys. There's also a friendly pub a short walk away that serves home cooked food and woodfired pizzas.
  • We enjoyed a long weekend at the stationmasters cottage and it was lovely. Nice high ceilings made it roomy for our group of five adults, Beds were comfy and no highway noise. Lovely spot.

  • Good central location to explore Wollemi Park and Gardens of Stone. Dunns Swamp a must see, truly beautiful (take the swimmers in warmer months). Overall had a great time. Capetee is small but has most essentials available except, bizarrely, bread

    Ross2019-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely historic cottage with all the conveniences of a well equipped house. Even an infants high chair if needed. Everything you could need in the kitchen, in clouding a few supplies like oil, tea, coffee and gladwrap. Comfortable beds. Plenty of space, fans to circulate air in summer and several heaters for wintertime. Loved Silas’ artwork. Some books and DVDs available. Good amount of literature on local attractions. Wonderful birds to watch and hear. Keep in mind Capertee can get hot in summer so the fans are a great asset. As Capertee is a small village, the general store, petrol and pub are just a short walk away. Well located for day trips in all directions.

    Elizabeth2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Stationmasters Cottage is a charming old cottage. It has been well maintained and is very comfortable. The location is fantastic - it gives easy access to the Capertee Valley and the amazing Gardens of Stone National Park.

We loved opening the door to find such a warm and welcoming space.. the fairy lights, the quirky little bedroom spaces, the well equipped kitchen and comfortable lounges. • Michelle's place is absolutely lovely. Easy to find from the main town of Bathurst, the home is equipped with anything you need: tea, coffee, towels, fresh linen. We were even able to fit in a riding lesson from Michelle, which we highly recommend doing it you visit Mt. Calm. We would definitely stay here again and strongly recommend staying here if you want a tranquil getaway.

  • Our cooking experience with Sanjana was a complete delightful. She was so warm, relaxed and knowledgeable. As an added bonus we got to hang out with her sweet 1 year old, who was just as enthusiastic about Sanjana's cooking as we were. We left with full bellies and lots of inspiration about how to bring her tips and ingredients into our own kitchen. I would definitely book with Sanjana again.

    Simon2018-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Marcus was a great host and the house was spacious and great. We cooked up some food and his kitchen had all the modcons you could want. Outside it was -2 but I've never felt so warm with fireplaces running. His pantry was generously stocked with food and drink for anything we forgot to bring which was super lovely. Would recommend!

  • Really nice place with high ceilings. Very quiet and clean place. Plenty of space for privacy upstairs. I didn’t get a chance to view the local scenery but would have loved to check out the glow worm caves nearby.
