Our little bit of paradise.
A peaceful retreat to call your own, nestled in the lush hardwood forest of Eastern Kentucky. This handcrafted open concept cottage sits on 250 acres overlooking a creek, surrounded by miles of hiking and nature trails available for your enjoyment. As you drive up the private lane to Creekside Cottage your cares just melt away. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The sights and sounds of nature surround you and you can choose what to do… sit on the deck and take it all in, write your next novel, cook a gourmet meal, bird watch, hike, mountain bike, or star gaze. While you are here, you may also want to visit some of the unique natural areas and parks, museums, and antique shops nearby. Please refer to the Guidebook for area attractions. From the cottage you have complete privacy and cannot see our home, which is an easy quarter mile walk down the lane if you need us. Cell service in the “holler” is spotty to nonexistent, for this reason we provide a landline and wifi for your use. The cottage was hand-built and has many custom details that make it feel like home. The space is handicap accessible, with an open concept kitchen, dining and living area and a roll-in shower, with wide doors to the bathroom and bedrooms. The wrap around deck is spectacular, with 600 square feet of outdoor living space, including Adirondack chairs, grill, and cozy screened-in porch which is perfect for reading a book and listening to the night sounds. You are welcome to enjoy the nature trails and old logging roads on the property. When enjoying the cottage we will assist you in any way we can, otherwise we will honor your privacy. If we are available, we would be happy to give you a tour of the wood working shop and other projects on the farm, such as our organic garden and on-going hardwood timber stand improvements. You can even help us if you'd like! We are happy to show you our residence as well as the workshop and surrounding buildings, however, we ask that you work out a time to do this with us. This is for your safety. Our property is in a rural setting in the Appalachian foothills of Eastern Kentucky. We are located 3 miles from the quaint town of Vanceburg where you can find a grocery, pharmacy, gas station, cafe and carry-out. Note, we would suggest BYOB if you are looking for craft beer or good wine. You will need a car as there is no public transportation available. There are many wonderful places to visit in the area, please refer to the Guidebook for additional information.
There is a great trail that awaits you. You can even play in the creek.
  • Nature lover's paradise!

  • Overall, this is the best AirBNB experience I have had anywhere in the world. Laurie and Phil's cabin is an architectural work of art unto itself. The farm is steeped in local history and culture and they are perfect hosts. Here you can spend some quiet time alone in the woods, or if you prefer have Laurie and Phil give you a tour of the farm and participate in an immersive experience in the history and culture of Lewis County and Northeastern Kentucky. I just can't say enough good things about Laurie, Phil and their amazing cabin in the woods. I wouldn't mind going back again soon and never leaving...

  • Amazing once again!!!

  • This is a tranquil cabin in the woods - so peaceful and cozy. Enjoyed the light of the gas fireplace in the evenings. Would love to come back in the warmer months with longer days to hike the property and sit on the deck. The hosts have thought of all the little things you might forget to bring with you and are very kind people.

    Jess2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding place. Before I got there Laurie reached out to me and let me know of all the amenities there. Very kind hosts who went up and beyond to provide amazing hospitality. The cottage was a beautiful place and a great retreat. Highly recommended!

  • This place is absolutely perfect! Very quiet peaceful place for a nice little getaway. If you have the chance stay in the cabin by the river, you wont regret it :) Amazing views!!

    Meredith2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you need a place to get away to relax and reset yourself, this is it! It's the cutest cabin tucked away on a campsite with an amazing view of the Ohio river. There are also some nice hiking trails, and things to do around the area. We found a great BBQ place in the town nearby too. Julie was so accommodating and quick to respond if you needed anything. I highly suggest bringing food as the nearest place with produce and meat to grill is a bit aways away, because you truly do get to be away from it all!

    Kelsey2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was so peaceful! We had so much fun. We had everything we needed and more! This is a must do if your looking for a quiet get-away. The porch swing was an excellent touch! It provided a great view of the river. We loved watching the boats go by. We will be back!

  • Perfect hideaway to relax by the river and take in the scenery. Super quiet, it was a great for one or 2 people to steal away. The elevated porch swing isn’t pictured, but it was my favorite place to read. Still had internet on my phone, so that was a bonus. Would definitely come back!

    Courtney2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Clean, private for being in a campground. Will be back

    Gunther2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • I had an incredible time. I wanted to get away to relax by water and that is exactly what the cabin by the river allowed me to do. Great host! She was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed chatting with her during my stay. The cabin itself was clean and perfect. It was very cozy. There was even a little table in the cabin with a candy dish in the middle of it. :) For me, one of the best things about the cabin was the deck with a swing to sit and look at the river. I was incredibly peaceful and quiet. I will definitely be going back again, maybe with my husband next time. Thank you so much! ~ Michelle ~

  • Expect to be treated like family! The owners are very kind and accommodating. The "Mama Bear" camper we stayed in was very clean and comfy. It really was a home away from home. They have nice, clean shower rooms with heaters. I took a nice, long, hot shower there and never ran out of hot water! The campground itself is very clean and peaceful. The surrounding area is beautiful with gorgeous views of the hills and The Ohio River. I will definitely be coming back to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city! Love it here!

  • The place was stylish and upgraded. Francesca was great. She was very thoughtful and even folded the laundry I did in the middle of my stay, which was greatly appreciated. I was there for 2 weeks and was worried that sound was going to be an issue being downtown, but it was silent and comfortable. Overall great place to stay and had no issues. Would stay here again.

  • Beautifully and tastefully decorated with a modern basis and elegant touches of blue. The location was perfect- right beside plenty of eateries and the loveliest part of Portsmouth. Cleaner than any hotel room and with as much privacy as you please. If I could give 6 stars I would, the place is beautiful :)

    Heidi2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a GREAT place to stay! Convenient and private setting, beautifully styled, and has everything a person could need for any duration of stay! Situated just a couple clocks up from the Murals, 2 local pubs right outside your door and very close to Portsmouth Race Park. :D

  • I loved staying at Francescas. You couldn’t ask for a better location on 2nd St. As someone who travels to Portsmouth a lot to see family, I’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn more times than I can count. This loft space was a godsend. The place is modern yet warm, spacious and clean. The beds are so comfortable. It felt very secure, with two keypad entries. Even though you’re right downtown, it was very quiet. If you’re lucky you’ll run into Frankie, the Great Dane who works downstairs. :). Highly recommend.

Our home is spacious and welcoming, located in very rural Adams County Ohio. This is a great stop off between big cities like Lexington, Cincinnati, and Columbus. This is a country setting with a large yard and large back deck. Guests that enjoy the outdoors will love the surroundings. If you have more travelers and need our other room as well, let me know so that I can unblock it for you (the site will automatically block it when this is booked and so must be manually changed). NO ALCOHOL
Our home is spacious and accommodating with a rural location where guests can relax, away from the noise of the city. Guests will enjoy their private room with a twin bed (a floor mattress is added when booked for 2+ guests) and a private bathroom. (We do have another room on Airbnb if you need additional space. Please contact me if you need to book both rooms since the site will automatically block it when one room gets booked.) As well as enjoying access to our large country kitchen, guests will have access to the deck overlooking the woods and creek. No neighbors are visible from this location. NO ALCOHOL PERMITTED.
Adams County is a beautiful, rural area of the southern Ohio River Valley. Our county is often visited for seasonal deer hunting and as a country retreat. The county and surrounding areas boast a small handful of historical sights and other attractions such as Serpent Mound, The Rankin House, and an Amish area. Nature lovers will feel right at home and city dwellers will get a much needed break. Please note that you will be in the country and there are sometimes animal/farming noises that we have no control over.
  • I enjoyed my stay with Marissa and Joshua. We were only there for a short period of time, but they were very nice.

  • Host is very kind.

  • This was an excellent place for me to crash while while working at the International Paper in Maysville Kentucky. I liked the interaction between the hosts and I, and we got along very well. Another friend of mine found this place and rented the other room for three weeks while we were doing the turn around. The hosts did not even mind my "urban sprawl" of my stuff on their kitchen table. I would highly recommend this place and the hosts, and will stay again when in the area.

    David2018-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was the cheapest AirBnb we’ve Stayed and one of the best. Marissa and Josh are the best hosts you can wish for. They make you feel at home right away. The dogs are so sweet also to our 2,5 year old daughter. We had really interesting conversations and we would recommend everyone staying here!

Perfect for your visit to Portsmouth - cheaper & more convenient than a hotel. Not fancy but private, clean, convenient, & safe - with amenities such as full kitchen, dishwasher, front deck, washer, dryer. Note- it is a country setting-there may be an occasional spider, millipede, or stink bug!!! Let me know and I will take care of it.
Small cabin includes 2 bedrooms - 1 with a king size bed and one with a queen size bed, an open space that includes kitchen/living/dining. Bathroom has a washer and dryer. Small deck area for smoking, having your coffee, or just enjoying nature.
The cabin is located in a nice subdivision behind Clay schools. It is about a 10 minute drive to downtown Portsmouth and a 10 minute drive to Lucasville and just moments away from route 23 which takes you to nearly any destination around.

  • I've stayed here a few times, it's becoming my home away from home. It's the first time I stayed when it's cold out so was a little worried about the other review. But truly it's a small place, the heaters heat things fast! And it stays warm for awhile! We had no problems with it being too cold.

  • The private cabin was perfect! It was cozy and perfectly neat and orderly! Amanda had extremely helpful info sheets throughout the cabin to help with directions on how to use the amenities, and had an adorable sign with the WiFi password! She was super helpful and communicative through the booking process. Great and cozy space! We loved it.

Enjoy Portsmouth Ohio's Boneyfiddle Historic District! Stay within walking distance of restaurants, events, shopping, and Shawnee State University. This is a fully furnished modern 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment with a private entrance. The nearly 1000 sq. ft. space boasts a galley kitchen open to the living room. Bedroom features include a king bed and walk-in closet. Washer and dryer access are on premises. This is a smoke-free unit. Pet-friendly.
Portsmouth, Ohio is the childhood home of Roy Rogers. This cowboy themed space is a great place for you to call home during your visit to Portsmouth and the Historic Boneyfiddle area. The rustic finishes give an old west feel and the location provides convenient access to much of what the area has to offer.
This space is located in the Boneyfiddle Historic District which is right along the Ohio River in downtown Portsmouth, Ohio. If you enjoy the arts, take a stroll along the floodwall murals which depict the history of the area, see a show at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts on the campus of Shawnee State University, or see an exhibit at the Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center. Interested in shopping? The shops along Second and Market Streets offer antiques, clothing, hardware, and more. While there is a full kitchen for cooking your own meals, there are several locally owned restaurants (many within walking distance) if you want someone else to do the work. We enjoy what downtown Portsmouth has to offer and hope that you will, too.
  • Really enjoyed my stay at Heather's place. It was comfortable, spacious and easy to locate and enter. Only regret was not being able to stay a bit longer and check out downtown more.

  • I almost hate leaving such a great review that is much deserved about this apartment. Because telling others how cozy, quiet, nicely decorated, and well appointed the unit is would probably mean less of an opportunity for me and my family to book it in the future. The location is very convenient and allowed us to be centrally located to visit Shawnee State and enjoy all that downtown has to offer. I can honestly say that our 1st experience with Air B&B was a great one, and Heather set the bar very high for other rentals to aspire to.

Cedar Cottage is a family home built from native timber. Constructed over many years, it is charmingly eccentric, warm, and inviting. It is on 36-secluded acres with trickling streams, woodlands, and wildlife. Cedar Cottage is central to Amish farms and bakeries, picturesque vistas, Vineyards, Underground Railroad, Native American and Civil War Sites, and the Appalachian Preserve.
Our cottage is beyond wireless range so peace and quiet are assured. A landline is available; limited phone/email reception is a pleasant 100 yard stroll uphill. Our guests have no neighbors and the night sky is lit only by stars. Security and porch lights are provided if desired.
  • A perfect retreat in Ohio Appalachia: a short drive to needed amenities and a few adventures, but far enough away from it all that it makes a perfect retreat, and the no WiFi/cell signal helps make that happen (but I was able to get a cell signal as soon as I walked outside...)

    Laura2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Scott and Dottie were absolutely awesome hosts. The cabin is a gem in the woods and was a peaceful getaway for me and my friends.

    Stephanie2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet and secluded. Clean and very helpful to answer questions. Great hosts!

    Timothy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my girls had a weekend we'll never forget! Scott is a very nice host he wasnt able to welcome us to the cabin in person but I wish he had just because him and Dottie seem like such great people. The cabin is very spacious and has just about everything youll need (bug spray, marshmallow sticks, some condiments in the fridge but id still bring your own just in case, matches all over the cabin and more). It really does have the perfect balance between comfortable home and rugged cabin. The private road leading to the cabin is a winding gravel road that goes along a valley (perfect for photos) so be ready to go real slow on those turns. You MUST go to Mikeys family restaurant near the cabin at some point during your trip the food is amazing, cheap, and the everyone there is very friendly. The trails around the cabin are a bit steap but exploring and finding the creek near by was very fun. It rained during our trip but honestly waking up to gentle rain and having hot chocolate on the porch was so calming and beautiful I think it worth trading a bit of sunshine. (Scott even let us check out a bit later so that we'd get the chance to enjoy a bit of sunshine) By chance I looked outside around 3 am. The clouds had passed and we saw so many stars!!! We live in cleveland and weve never seen anything like it. No light anywhere just empty void except for the cabin and then you look up and its just a sky of twinkling lights. This cabin is special and I hope whoever stays there next sees how amazing it is.

    Clare2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at Cedar Cottage! We loved how cozy, secluded, & nestled away among the trees the home is. It was just the retreat our family needed. Scott and Dottie showed great attention to detail & thoughtfulness in their hospitality to us. They were great hosts. We loved sitting on the porch sipping our coffee in the morning, sitting around the bonfire at night making s’mores, and there were lots of great hiking trails in the area. We hope to go back again!

    Amanda2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and peaceful! Everything we needed was provided! Very clean and comfortable. Loved he blue tooth speakers!

    Anna2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing!!! The cottage was absolutely beautiful and the amazing views were breathtaking. This was exactly what our family needed. Scott's wonderful hospitality and great communication made everything so easy and made us feel very welcome. We can't wait to make another visit. 🙂 Definitely a must visit!

    Barbara2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage and surrounding woods were perfect for a weekend respite from the city! Our two families thoroughly enjoyed our time - grownups and kids alike! The cottage has everything you need, and we hope to return for another stay!

Newly remodeled older home with quaint touches and hardwood floors with decorative, plush area rugs. Cozy and quiet. GORGEOUS view of sunset over the town! Perfect for both business travel and personal stay! Immaculately clean and comfortable! Daily disinfecting and sanitizing is always a priority with me and even more so during this challenging time. Please respect my personal space and I will yours as well. Smiles and talking are welcome!
The entire house is available to you. I may be staying there for part of your stay or I may be off on another adventure of my own... Arizona sounds awesome! I split my time between CANDLEWICK COVE and another home. I am a writer, a teacher & professional Air BNBer (I make up word) so I understand your need for privacy and for knowing details of my place. I am the sole proprietor of the house and there is ONLY ONE guest bedroom, so if I am not home you have the entire place to yourself. My office and my bedroom are off limits to guests and locked. If you are a parent traveling with a school-age child you are welcome to share the bed; however, there are no accommodations for a baby or toddler and there is no safety gate at the steps so you would need to find another place that better suits your needs. Filtered water is in the frig door and inside in a pitcher. Breakfast bars and coffee is in basket by Keurig. Nestled along the woods of the Ohio river is our "Gretel" 5th wheel camper. This is a 2006 camper so it is not perfect but she is cute!! Bedroom with Queen bed and bathroom with corner shower are located upstairs. In the main area is a fold out sofa bed, dinette bed, tv with dvd player, kitchen with stove, fridge and sink area. There are also two chairs to relax on! The camper is located in our 4th row closer to our shower house and short walk to the playground or river.
You can enjoy 32 feet of this 2005 Jayco 5th wheel camper. It includes a separate bedroom with a queen bed, sofa bed and dinette that turns into a bed. There is a kitchen with gas stove, refrigerator, double sink and more. Wake up and sip coffee on your small deck outside. Central air and heat keep you comfy all year long. Bathroom includes corner shower, sink and separate toilet room. Yes there are quirks but our camper is ready for you to enjoy. Gretel is located within our campground. Ready to camp in! There is a TV in the camper with DVD player but no cable service. Living along the river you sometimes get a few unexpected visitors (spiders, mice, stink bugs...) but we do our best to make sure this does not happen.
Gretel is located within our campground. There is a shower house, playground and boat ramp with access to the river. Hiking trails are located just across the road. We also have a campground office with a small gift store area.

  • Dave and Debbie have a wonderful place in Portsmouth. All the luxuries of home including well equipped kitchen, bathroom, washer and dryer and a big screen tv with many channels and streaming apps like Netflix and more. Excellent value. Highly recommend!

  • Nice charming home. Quiet and peaceful stay.

    Erika2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Dave and Debbie’s place is absolutely wonderful. Very comfortable and perfect for anyone having work assignments at SOMC. Will stay here any chance I can when in Portsmouth. The hosts are always responsive and truly nice people.

    Dolores2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Place was wonderful! They were very accommodating and place was sparkly clean.

    Cory2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at David and Debbie’s! Really felt like it was true to the pictures and descriptions, so no unpleasant surprises. Everything was very clean and well put together and they seemed to have anything you might think you would need! And if there was something we did need it was only a few minute drive to Walmart and restaurants and such. We would highly recommend and definitely be staying again if back in the area!

    Kelsey2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place. Recently redone. Great value, and would stay there again.

    Brad2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place! We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend. Neat, clean and welcoming. Many personal touches, Christmas tree in the family room for the holidays. Cotton sheets, blankets and towels provided. Didn't have to bring anything extra unless we wanted to. Kitchen was well stock with utensils, pots and pans in excellent condition. You do have to back out when leaving the driveway. Even though the house is on a fairly busy secondary street, there was always a break in traffic to pull out easily. The neighborhood is quiet. We never heard the neighbors. We didn't notice the traffic noise during the day. When we went to bed, there was a moderate amount of traffic noise (no one was beeping horns, or yelling!), it was just an intermittent tire sound we heard. Almost like waves in the ocean! It never bothered my husband who slept in the front room (street side). I slept in the back room, heard the traffic, but turned on the fan that was in the closet which muffled the sound and I slept soundly. The front and middle bedrooms had softer mattresses. The bed in the back bedroom is firm. We had a very enjoyable stay at David and Debbie's house and felt right at home!

A little escape on the Little Sandy River, this cabin is a little efficiency cabin room attached to 2 other separate cabins. Minimally furnished but with everything you need to enjoy a cup of coffee and head outdoors. All cabins share a deck and access to the open area under cabin where simple meals can be fixed. Each room has it's own bathroom with shower.
You are welcome to utilize our communal kitchen and bathroom under the cabin, walk the path behind the cabin, as well as the grounds of our sister property Dragonfly at the end of the road and the tree lined field that defines the boundaries. We also have cornhole under the main cabin as well as charcoal grills under the shelter.

  • We loved Myra and Sandys little cabin! The cabin is super trendy and cute but still feels rustic. The kitchen was disappointing so I wouldnt plan to prepare much food other than in the microwave or over the fire. But other than that our stay was great and would recommend the lemon-aid cabin to anyone!

  • This was a last minute pick. At 1st I was a little concerned being I never had used Airbnb. This place was more than I expected. Super clean with NO COMPLAINTS !!! I can be picky...however we will return. People around were nice and welcoming. Several activities to keep us busy!!

  • We greatly enjoyed our stay here - easy check in with wonderful and friendly hosts. My traveling parter and I were delighted by the river - wished we could have spent more time beside it. Don’t make our mistake - check in early enough to hang out by the water!

  • From the start I loved this place. The owner was so kind to help out in a pickle with my broken down truck and helped me secure a trustworthy local mechanic while providing everything needed for a wonderful stay. I've never experienced this level of hospitality. The location was unique quiet and romantic. Will be staying again if I'm ever in the area!

  • Beautiful tranquil place to unwind. Calming and beautifully decorated with great location.

    Judy2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed two nights in the Lime Leisure cabin. The park-like setting is very tranquil, our hosts were friendly, and the accommodations were tidy and well stocked. The cabin's interior space was a bit smaller than we had envisioned from the pictures; it is about the size of a small bedroom. It is cozy for a night or two, but we would probably have felt cramped if we had booked an extended stay. Overall, it was a good AirBnB experience and we would recommend staying with Myra and Sandy.

Come and relax in a setting that will transcend you back to the pioneering days of our ancestors all awhile providing you with the modern conveniences of today. Our Cabin is nestled on a ridge on the back of our farm where the only lights and sounds are mother natures.
This cabin has been in our Family since our ancestors settled here in foothills of the Appalachian mountains in the early 1800's. In 2008 we moved the cabin and modernized it while keeping the charm of a Classic Hand Hewn Log Cabin.
The ability to transcend yourself to a place to where you will feel there is virtually no one else on the earth is very unique. Sitting on the large wrap around porch and reconnecting to your inner sole is very relaxing while you think of those who pioneered the great American spirit will give you a new perspective on the world. Staying in a place that has withstood the test of time with very little change while the world has changed dramatically since hands put it together is truly unique and inspiring.
  • A wonderful escape in a lovely cabin. Very cozy.

  • If you want to escape then this is the place. I only wish we could have stayed longer. The communication was super quick and efficient, and the cabin was lovely and welcoming on our arrival. The beds were clean and comfortable. It really is a get away from it all space. Highly recommended.

    Jo2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The upgrades to this older cabin are amazing and make it feel so homie. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get away from the city life and enjoy some time unplugging from the world. Second time on the property, first time in this cabin and I can’t wait to go back!

    Jordan2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately, for us it was a quick 1 night stay for us. We have been driving from Nashville to DC and arrived about 7pm to the log. Mike has already set up the fire for us so the house was extra nice when we arrived. We are very sorry that we could not stay longer.. I am sure we will go back soon.

    Gabriella2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • This adorable home is nestled up on top of a hill overlooking valleys but is tucked in between mountains all around you. The trees had already changed colors so the reds, yellows and green was breathtaking. The hospitality exceeded expectations! The cabin has everything you’d need and more. There is no service at all BUT they do have WiFi that you can log into and be connected back to the world. I personally loved not having any service as this trip was for us to escape the hustle and bustle but when we needed it, it was right there for our convenience. I feel rejuvenated and definitely know exactly where I’ll be coming back to very soon! If anyone is looking for a little piece of heaven to run away to don’t look any further; You’ll find it right here.

Welcome to a relaxing stay in our little piece of Ohio! There is an old time homey feel with curtains on both the bathroom and lower bedroom. With limited headroom, the loft bedroom can make the grown-up feel kid-like...sort of taking you back to a sleep over at granny's house - but granny didn't have Roku TV or internet. If you are in the mood to cook, the cottage does have a full kitchen for the culinary side of your stay. We believe you will enjoy the stay at Twin Pines Cottage. Book today!
All areas of the cabin are accessible. The cabin sits on almost two acres so if you feel the urge to roll around in yard, have at it...people, not vehicles:)
Cabin is just about a mile outside the village of West Union and the neighbors are pretty quiet overall.
  • Fantastic place! Quiet, clean and comfortable!

  • Great spot to stay if you are exploring Adams County. Perfect for a couple or family with 1 or 2 children. Well stocked kitchen if you choose to cook with special touches like water, coffee and a special treat waiting at check-in. Very clean, with extra blankets, soap, shampoo. Internet worked great. If you get a clear night, make sure you check out the sunset over the western ridge and the bright starry sky.

Located in the Boneyfiddle Historic District, downtown Portsmouth, this house is only a short distance from Shawnee State U., Southern Ohio Medical Center/Life Center, and most other points of interest. Deep weekly and monthly discounts and the conveniences and comforts of home (fully equipped kitchen and on-site laundry) make this a great option for you. The host usually resides on the premises, but guests will use the private, master bedroom, secured by a deadbolt lock.
Built in 1843, this house was once owned by riverboat captain Creed Milstead, who was the mayor of Portsmouth at the turn of the 20th century. This house has been well maintained and was once operated as a traditional bed and breakfast/extended stay unit.
-The neighborhood is very quiet, especially in the evenings. -There are relatively few residents on this street since the surrounding buildings are mainly used as courthouse offices and law offices. -The immediate neighborhood and the downtown area are great, safe places to walk, at any hour.
  • Great host, great house, great location and perfect Airbnb in Portsmouth! Don’t look twice, you need to go there !

    Yassine2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was a warm welcome from a gracious host who provides good info about the town and what to do, gives use of his house and appliances as if they were yours, and respects privacy to whatever level you desire while also acting as a friend when you want. It’s walk-in distance from night life, groceries, farmers market, restaurants, etc. Even parking was nice in the county parking lot next door stocked with the county cop cars giving an extra sense of safety to those who desire. For example I dropped my keys in the parking lot without realizing and the next day had them returned by a county employee. And finally, what a bed. So many settings for any softness or firmness. God bless.

  • My stay with Justin was excellent! The house is perfectly located within walking distance of downtown attractions and the river. If you’re looking to have a relaxing night in, the house has a great fenced in backyard for privacy. Justin was very helpful with recommendations and was very pleasant to spend time with throughout my stay, would definitely stay again!

    Lindsay2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is actually my second time staying with Justin, this time during warmer weather; I got to explore some of his outdoor amenities including a relaxing hammock, outdoor speaker system, table top fire place and hanging mood lighting that have made the summer nights very enjoyable. Justin continues to exceed my expectations as a host and would highly recommend him to anyone coming out this way!

    Lindsay2019-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • I was a long term guest (3 months) with Justin and he was very generous in opening up his home to me and making me feel comfortable. He has available all the amenities you could possibly want (and even some you didn’t know you wanted) such as indoor/outdoor Bluetooth speakers, a cozy gas fireplace, and lots of random snacks available (I asked him to borrow some jam one morning and he literally pulled out 7 different kinds and offered them all to me). This house is in a great location and walking distance from many in-town attractions. Justin is very knowledgeable about the town and has tons of recommendations for things to do. He was so accommodating to my needs and pleasant to be around that I even extended my stay with him. Would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Portsmouth!!

    Lindsay2019-04-07T00:00:00Z

Our cozy cottage is conveniently located just a few miles from downtown Portsmouth in a quiet neighborhood at the end of a culdesac.
Full kitchen, living room, 2 full baths, 3 bedrooms, and a huge couch that could sleep 2 people. There is also plenty of room in the upstairs bedrooms for air mattresses. Outdoor covered sitting area with fire pit.
  • My daughter and I stayed here for a weekend trip and we loved this home. It was in a quiet neighborhood, had plenty of room , and there were so many thoughtful touches. We greatly appreciate Renee sharing her space with us and we highly recommend!

    Judi2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

    April2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Renee's home was by far one of our most favorite AirBNB's to stay at as a family! We visited family in the area & planned to celebrate a small Thanksgiving meal, Renee was so accommodating, leaving out her dinnerware & providing a fully stocked kitchen to prepare our meal. Her home is so cozy & was decorated for the holidays, which was perfect for our occasion; we hated to leave! My 9 year old daughter & 7 year old son throughly enjoyed the kids rooms & felt right at home. Location was great & Renee was wonderful with communication- we would happily return in the future!

  • The home was as pictured, a spacious living area and a clean, cutely decorated home. Private back yard and driveway for parking were also nice to have. This was a cozy retreat to stay and and we would book again in the future. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make morning breakfast for our family.

We have a cozy loft with a large inground pool, surrounded by mature woods. It's very private yet close to everything. 3 Great Danes live on the property. The loft has a new queen size bed and there is a comfy sectional couch downstairs. Partial kitchen (with the exception of a range, we do have hot plates for cooking) bath, washer and dryer. If you don't like dogs, are severely allergic to dust and pollen, or don't like staying in the forest or a rustic space, this listing isn't for you.
We are in the city but with 40+ acres we have privacy and are surrounded by mature trees, beautiful birds, deer, hawks, and other wildlife. My husband and I use the pool but for an additional fee you may rent the pool for complete privacy. The pool house is a loft with queen pillow top mattress and sectional couch with a full bath and kitchen. It can sleep up to 4 people, but isn't ideal for small children or elderly, especially if sleeping in the loft. There is a ladder to climb up in the loft to get to the beds. Our space is perfect for a romantic getaway or a nice alternative to a hotel if you are passing through town. The space is ideal for couples, solo travelers, or professionals traveling for business. We are very close to S.O.M.C. and Shawnee State University. Our Great Danes love to meet new people! We are 10 minutes from the Ohio River and have plenty of restaurants nearby. Hunting is forbidden here. Please note that we do get some stink bugs especially in the fall, it's part of living in our area and the country. The ceiling fan doesn’t always work, but if you manually push the fan it works at a low speed. If you are allergic to scentsy cubes or prefer not to have any aroma please let me know prior to booking.
We are 10 minutes from the Ohio River and we go boating often in the warm months. We are also located near SOMC, Shawnee State University, the current Bypass project, and the A-plant. Portsmouth is a pretty town with a rich history. There were many stops on the Underground Railroad in our town. We also have the oldest operating brewery in the state of Ohio. There are beautiful murals on our floodwall by the river, and lots of locally owned restaurants. Our property is very private, you will feel secluded and be surrounded by nature. It is said that the French fur traders used to hide from the Native Americans on our land. There is a CVS, Wendy's, Chinese/Japanese restaurant, and a Pub less than a mile from our house. I recommend Yamato, the Portsmouth Brewery, and the Scioto Ribber. They are all great restaurants!

  • Step into summer and just a special space. The pool house was super clean and funky fun. Loved the hardwood floors on the diagonal and the open space. The sleeping loft made me feel like a big kid. Especially enjoyed swimming in the pool and soaking in the tub. Rachel and Jack were so kind and offered tips for the area. The great Danes were such well behaved gentlemen and the lady Luna great Dane just a lovey. Will stay there everytime I am in that area. The grounds were like a rustic English Garden.....just beautiful high on a hill. Thank you for such a peaceful weekend.

This delightful gem is a 3 bedroom home with one bath. It is clean, well furnished, and is very conveniently located in Portsmouth. One block from Southern Ohio Medical Center, 5 minutes from Shawnee State University, nice residential neighborhood. No pets, please.
This is a 1940's bungalow that has been well kept. It has beautiful original hardwood floors, updated appliances, a nice backyard, and quaint architectural features.
Private homes, nice neighborhood so we require that our tenants be respectful to the neighbors! They are our friends!
  • I booked the home for a visit with my cousins. It served us very well, offering a comfortable place to visit at the end of the day. Everyone said they slept very well. The home was clean and in a safe area. The back porch offered a tranquil place for morning coffee which was a good way to start the day. I have no hesitation in recommending this home.

  • Excellent cozy clean place while visiting family.

    Kendra2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Easy to access property and lots of nice touches throughout (like lots of different flavored K-cups for morning coffee, brand new soap bar in box and loofa with tag on it... all the little things that make you smile).

    Jenn2019-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this space was great. It was really clean and tastefully decorated. The neighborhood is quaint and quiet. I’ll definitely try to stay here on trips back to Portsmouth.

  • Very homey. Rebecca makes you feel at home.

    Doug2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • My family had to travel to Ohio for a funeral so needless to say it was a difficult trip, but this house helped make our time more comfortable. It was about 10 degrees outside when we arrived, but Rebecca had made it a point to leave the heat on inside for us. We arrived to a warm, well lit, comfy home. The house was very clean, well decorated, and had comfortable couches and beds. All amenities were well stocked, we particularly appreciated the Kurig machine in the kitchen. Thank you for a great stay!

  • What a remarkable couple as they go above and beyond for anyone. Peace and quiet with a scenic drive, relaxing and extremely hospitable. I would highly recommend this Airbnb as there are Super Host' status. Come one, come all. Enjoy a great conversation and a good nights rest.

  • Marissa and Josh are the best hosts a person can hope for. They are both intelligent, conscientious, and very gracious hosts!!!!! They made my stay very memorable- Thank you

  • Every hotel within a 40+ mile radius was booked, and after spending two hours trying to find somewhere to stay I was reminded about air bnb. I crossed my fingers and entered my location, almost immediately Marissa's place popped up. Reviews were excellent, and it was only 20 minutes away from where I was. As a single mother traveling with her daughter for business I was feeling anxious about not finding a hotel room close to where I needed to be the next morning and desperate for something. Marissa didn't have hardly any dates blocked out (thankfully), so I booked it and within minutes she responded. I literally showed up 17 minutes later to find her and Josh outside welcoming me and my child. The hospitality from Marissa and Josh was refreshing, but more so was the love from their adorable pets. Even if you're not an animal person they block the rooms you would use from the fur-babies and they are well behaved. I was impressed to find a great place in the middle of what seems nowhere. So if you're passing through and have a dilemma similar to mine, or want to save some money book Marissa's abode. I was shocked to find the rate was so low. All the extra touches (amenities) Marissa provides is worth the current rate imo. We will def visit again if ever in the area or close by. Thanks again Marissa, Josh, Link, Zelda and Midna :)

  • An absolutely amazing host. They take care of you like family, really understanding of peoples needs and they treat you with utmost respect. They have a lot to offer than just a room to stay at.Highly recommend their place!!

  • We were two female recent college grads looking for a safe, and inexpensive place to spend the night. Marissa and Josh’s place well exceeded our expectations. They provided welcome baskets in the bathroom and bedroom with anything you could possibly need (everything from hairties to tourist attraction ideas). They were so kind and welcoming we spent much time chatting with them. Their dogs are sweet as can be. They provided coffee and made us breakfast in the morning which was delicious. This place is worth so much more than what it’s listed as. Even if you don’t have a reason to visit Adams County Ohio you should make one up just to stay here. We honestly can’t say enough good things about our stay.

    Victoria2018-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my stay here. Marissa is very sociable and made sure that I had everything I needed.

    Jonathan2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Marissa and her husband were very welcoming. They were willing to accommodate my late nights and early mornings (I was attending a conference). There were thoughtful touches, including leaving the bedroom lamp on so that I would not arrive in the dark. There are two large dogs who are very gentle and friendly, though one did jump up on me a couple different times. It was simply being happy/friendly, though I am very grateful my clothes didn't get muddy and I'm not afraid of dogs. :) Everything was lovely. No cell reception, but that written in the listing so I was not surprised. Wifi worked very well, allowing me to text and use the internet on my laptop easily. It gets very dark out there at night, allowing for lovely views of the stars! Communication through airbnb was easy and Marissa responded quickly each time I contacted her. Many thanks for wonderful kindness and hospitality.

This private Adams County, Ohio, vacation cabin has everything you could want for a relaxing retreat, including beds for 9 on 3 levels, 2 sitting areas, a beautiful deck, a dining area, and a kitchen equipped to cook almost anything.
Your Home Away from Everything The cabin is built around a massive cedar tree found on the property. The tree stretches to the ridgepole, supporting the second floor loft and the handcrafted cedar stairs. Craftsmanship surrounds you, from the well-equipped custom kitchen to the tree-house bedroom. Whatever the season, you’ll enjoy the view from the deck: crisp winter deer tracks, cheerful spring wild flowers, lush deep green forests, or bright fall colors. On the trails or by the stream, you will enjoy “radio silence” where you can truly disconnect. Hopewell Croft has beds for nine. It is fully connected, with internet and satellite TV. Cell phone service within the cabin benefits from a signal booster. The cabin is smoke free. Cabin sleeps 8 adults. 3 bedrooms, two with queen size beds, one with three twin beds (includes “tree-house” bedroom, accessible by ladder, not suitable for young children) also, pullout sofa double-bed on main level. 2 full bathrooms. Central Air Conditioning/Gas Furnace. Equipped kitchen includes refrigerator with icemaker, gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, waffle iron, electric mixer, pots & pans, cooking utensils. Dishes and tableware, linens, pillows, towels, paper goods. Wi-Fi, satellite TV, DVD Player, board games, puzzles, cards, books. Washer/Dryer. Gas grill. Crib and high chair available, Large electric roaster oven available. Well-behaved dogs OK for a small fee. Labyrinth on site. Steep drive may not be passable in snow or ice .
I know you'll love staying at the cabin, enjoying the peace and quiet. Maybe you'll find a book in our library, play one of our board games, or work on a puzzle. You may also spend some time in the woods, on the trail, listening to the birds and watching for wildlife. But if you're looking for something else, here are some things to do in the area. For fishing, the best bets are the Ohio River with put-ins at Manchester and Aberbeen. Adams Lake State Park is another option. You can also kayak and fish on Ohio Brush Creek. There is a put-in where the creek crosses 125. You would take out downstream at the Edge of Appalachia Portman Trailhead or even further downstream at Beasley Fork Bridge. You can also Kayak and fish on Eagle Creek, which is only 3.5 miles from the cabin. The Edge of Appalachia has several hiking trails. The best known is Buzzard's Roost. For history sites, visit Ripley to see the Rankin House and the John Parker House, both significant sites on the Underground Railroad. Old Washington, Kentucky, is on Route 62, on the ridge past Maysville. Harriet Beecher Stowe was inspired to write Uncle Tom's Cabin after her visit here. The prehistoric Great Serpent Mound is north about 45 minutes. Native Americans consider this to be a sacred site. Many people enjoy visiting the Amish and shopping at Millers Bakery and Furniture or the Keim Family Market. They are closed on Sundays. West Union has the quaint Olde Wayside Inn and a soda fountain, at Blakes on the square. Good restaurants are in Maysville, Kentucky. Pogue Distillery gives tours and tastings, by advance appointment, and also has a gift shop.
  • Rebecca’s place is so beautiful and clean. I am thinking to come back again.

  • Hopewell Croft is a wonderful getaway and chance to unplug from everyday life. We truly enjoyed our time here with our elementary age children. We did multiple hikes around the property each day and had fun fishing and playing in the creek that runs through the property. The cabin was very clean, well appointed, and very comfortable. Our children loved sleeping in the treehouse loft. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, and we enjoyed a campfire and stargazing in the evening. It was super helpful to have access to a washer and dryer with three kids along who like to get dirty. I cannot say enough good things about this trip. We would love to go back someday.

  • My father, brothers, daughter , nephew, and I booked this cabin as a weekend bonding experience with my father as his health is beginning to deteriorate and we wanted to make family memories for our kids with grandpa. We loved the setting and privacy of the cabin! We played cards, board games, grilled out and had 2 late nights with bourbon and laughter on the giant deck. The inside of the cabin had gorgeous craftsmanship and the treehouse bedroom was a highlight for the 9 & 11 year old kids. The home was very clean and well stocked. The host Rebecca was very accommodating and informative. We would book this cabin again!! The best part of this cabin is it’s seclusion and privacy.

    Michael2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca is by far the best AirBnB host I have ever encountered. the Hopewell Croft Cabin is such a perfect place for a nice, relaxing, and stress free getaway from the craziness of work and city living. The decor at the cabin is so personalized and adds a special touch to the AirBnB space. The feel of the cabin is very homey and cozy. I will definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a place to stay where they can enjoy the peacefulness of nature and reconnect with friends/family. I will definitely stay here again!

  • Very nice cabin, we recommend

    Eddie2018-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Hopewell Croft Cabin! When I had found this listing I couldn't believe how perfect it was for what we were looking for. The cabin was big enough for six people, very clean and stocked with everything we needed to cook throughout the weekend. Rebecca was very communicative when booking and beforehand. She was always available to answer any questions prior to our stay. There was never a question too inane for her to answer quickly and thoroughly. When they say out of the way they really mean it. Most of us weren't able to get a signal and that was fine with us. It was nice to just get away for a weekend and I wish it hadn't rained for a majority of the weekend (but that's obviously not the cabins fault). This was the perfect experience and I can't complement Rebecca enough for setting up such an affordable and cozy cabin.

    Christopher2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as described. We had a great family get away and went to Serpent Mound (about 45 minute drive) and hiked at the Edge of Appalachia preserve (about 20 minutes away). This was the cleanest Airbnb we have stayed at so far. Would highly recommend.

    Andrew2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca was very helpful and called before we arrived to see if all was set. The location was bucolic and as described in the listing. Everything was available to enjoy both indoor and outdoor environments.

This one room cabin unit attached to 2 other units. This building is built on stilts, so there are stairs to access its front door. This cabin features a queen size bed, air conditioner, mini fridge, coffee/ tea service, snacks, coffee pot, iron/ ironing board. This cabin is located on the Little Sandy River and its shady banks offer a great place to fish, kayak , or bask in all of natures glory.
We are located at the end of the gravel road on Treasure Cove, a peninsula on the Little Sandy River.
  • This is a super cute little room meant just for sleeping and other necessities, but it is absolutely adorable. The bed is comfy, there's plenty of room along the walls for your bags, and the bathroom has everything necessary! We didn't get to explore the river this time, but we definitely will next time, as it is within steps of the house.

  • This was our very first visit to DRAGONFLY. We've been coming to the Greenup area for many years, yearly for our family reunion. We have really enjoyed our stay at DRAGONFLY making many beautiful family memories. Our stay was VERY SPECIAL. Everything was VERY WELL cared for, we never wanted for anything that it wasn't taken care of from extra linen to ALL the hosts being so VERY friendly and concerned that if we needed anything all we needed to do was ask. The extra touches of home made soap really made us feel SPECIAL. We would VERY TRULY recommend all who are looking for a SPECIAL MEMORY MAKING vacation to check DRAGONFLY out. I assure you that you will leave very satisfied with your decision. The HOWARD FAMILY from MICHIGAN

Spend the evening kicked back on the large screened in porch watching deer, turkey and other wildlife. Our property lays just yards away from the Fleming Wildlife Management area where guest can enjoy hunting or horseback riding. Upstairs you will find a kitchen with all the comforts of “home” including a Keurig or regular coffee machine. Also a master bed and large bath, as well. The downstairs is laid out like a western bunkhouse complete with a full bath with a walk in shower and laundry.
Our cabin is truly a home away from home. We provide many things that others don’t including spices and large assortment of pots and pans as well as dishes and paper products for those who don’t like to do dishes. All three large porches give amazing views of the land and wildlife.
  • This was the perfect cozy cabin for a weekend getaway with family and our dogs. It felt nice and secluded, but still close enough to town for our needs. It was a relief to disconnect for a weekend and spend some time in nature. The cabin is fully stocked with cooking appliances and plenty of dishes. We slept soundly in the comfy beds. Also there is a beautiful sreened in porch to lounge on.

Covered porch with swing and rocking chairs. Shared pavilion with 2 charcoal grills and a wood fired grill. PLEASE NOTE: you are renting the cabin and not the grounds! The grounds are shared space. Heidi2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time at Myra and Sandy's place. Everything from the relaxing sound of water from their super artistic water fountain under the stairs, to the multiple bench swings, and hammock, and gorgeous view of the water from the porch... the place was a relaxing haven. If you want to just rest, every amenity is there for you (even a little cafe on site over the weekend). If you want to be active, there are kayaks to rent, plentiful spots to fish, and all sorts of places to explore. We loved it and enjoyed being part of that small community for a couple restful days.

    Christy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. Very peaceful. The cabin has everything you can think of, so basically you just need to bring yourself. Quick response when I had questions about checking in early. The guy that runs the kayak rental is super nice and friendly. We will def be planning another stay soon.

  • HOSPITALITY!!!!! Wow this place is full of greatness. It has beauty in nature stars over head at night are amazing from the swing in the lawn. The locals are very kind. Well worth every penny spent . Will for sure be going back.

  • The setting and the cabin are both outstanding! Lovely common spaces. The only thing that might affect the rating (4.75/5) would be the fact that the cabin does shake a bit if anyone is going up the stairs or walking around inside a lot.
