Our B&B is an unpretentious, simple and comfortable hide-away for those seeking rest, relaxation, peace and quiet in unspoiled nature. We are on solar energy and try to have as little an impact as possible on our natural surroundings. As we are a new B&B (we just opened in February 2017!) we are still in the process of growing our own vegetable and fruit garden. We call our B&B "The Tree House" even though, in literal terms, we are not a tree house. It is a wood-frame, 3 story home, on stilts.
We are in a private and secluded estate in the Mountains North of Accra (Capital City of Ghana). It is about a 45 minute drive from Accra. The road off the main road is not of good quality. It would be my pleasure to pick you from the main road if you are using public transport. Just let us know what time you expect to be there!
Pure nature, forest and bush. We are a bit secluded, about 15 minutes drive from the closest town about 45 minutes drive from Accra, the Capital city of Ghana.
  • It was a lovely stay! Back in Accra, I am missing the sound of the crickets, the tree hyraxes and birds... Hoping it was not our last visit at the Tree House!

  • We had a very very good time with Yao, Aaj and there lovely family. We were lucky to spend some times with them. They show is around: the botanical gardens, hillburi etc... Nice chats, nice accomodation, everything was more than perfect. Highly appreciated and we’d definitely go back once we’ll be coming back. Thanks again and see you soon. Gijs and Aurélie

  • Very pleasant stay. Yao and Aaj have a wonderful place for much needed r&r. Don’t have to worry abojt much beyond getting there. They will make sure you are taken care of while there & prepare meals at an additional cost.

  • I can recommend this little gem close to Aburi to everyone who wants to get away from the bustle and busy Accra. Yao and Aaj are wonderful hosts and the tree house is beautifully situated amongst trees and scenic surroundings!

  • After spending a week in Accra I was looking for a tranquil retreat away from the city to unwind and re-center before flying back to the UK. When looking for somewhere to stay, I was swayed by the beautiful pictures (friends were envious when I showed them) and amazing reviews. I booked 4 months ahead of my stay but Yao’s & Aaj’s communication with me from the onset was friendly, professional and very accommodating, I knew from then I had made the right choice. The beautiful idyllic setting of the Tree House served up relaxation and tranquility in abundance. I love the outdoors and nature, so I really felt at home here in among the natural surroundings.  There is everything to love about the Tree House, the picturesque rustic and tranquil setting, the amazing views, the serenity and most importantly the exceptional hospitality from my hosts. Yao and Aaj are one of the most friendly and hospitable airbnb hosts that I have encountered. In-fact from the onset it felt like I was staying with family/friends, I was welcomed by the family with open arms and spent a lot of my time relaxing, conversing and sharing delicious morning/evening meals and snacks with the family on their beautiful inviting open terrace with its beautiful decor and abundance of potted plants wherever you turned (hand grown by green fingered Aaj), creating an extension of the tranquil idyllic grounds. We had so much to talk about and some interesting conversations. Yao is very knowledgable about Ghanain culture and history, he was engaging on all topics and a visionary which I could relate to and which enabled our conversations to flow naturally. Aaj and I had so much in common, it was like we were kindred spirits. Like myself Aaj is a extremely talented and creative soul with a lot of creative vision, we spent so much time comparing ideas and suggestions.  Home cooks meals were plentiful and more importantly flavoursome and prepared with love by both Yao and Aaj (Yao’s Chicken and Omelette are worth the wait, and as an avid baker, I adored Aaj’s freshly baked chocolate bannana cake). I would have loved to have eaten much more especially hearing of Aaj’s amazing Ghanain speciality dishes, but I restricted myself due to a delicate stomach as a result of a meal I ate whilst in Accra. (One of many reasons i’ll be back is too sample Aaj's food) The tranquility extends to the guest house with its rustic charm infused with african decor throughout, it was truly a relaxing environment home away from home. I had the entire house to myself and the top floor room with charming room and ensuite shower which opens onto the stunning wrap around terrace. When I first arrived I was literally in awe, the view from the terrace was breathtaking you are literally surrounded by a 360 degree view of trees, lush greenary and view of the mountains (even though it was slightly masked by haze for by Hamanatt season, on a clear day i’m told you can see the skyline from Accra/Tema) I only stayed 2 nights but I managed to do the two main things on my list with the help of my hosts who kindly accompanied me first to Aburi Botanical Park passing first through Aburi town so I could see its history, reminiscent of its colonial past and its development. Yao’s engaging friend who has experience in botany and agriculture also came along and was very relaxed, pleasant and informative. Then off to Aburi craft market; although as it was a Sunday early afternoon, it was surprisingly quiet and most of the shops were closed but I still managed to grab a few nice gifts. I appreciate Yao’s patience whilst I looked around and Aaj especially, helping me haggle the prices to get some good bargains (as a designer i’m can be a bit lenient when i see the craftsmanship gone into the pieces, I need to embrace my Ghanaian bartering side:). We also had a delicious meal at Hillburi Lodge part of the resort with its breathtaking views. Although I spent quite a bit of time with the family, I did take in some quiet relaxing moments on the guest terrace, it was such a tranquil experience laying on the hammock and being soothed by the sounds of crickets as I read my book (well tried, the hammock gently rocks you to sleep). I cannot recommend the Tree House enough for a tranquil stopover and Aaj and Yao as lovely hosts. Their two boys Ian and William were so lovely, well mannered and utterly adorable, they just got on with things unfazed as they would normally helping to set the table, prepare the room etc I really did feel welcome and can’t thank you enough for my short but very sweet stay.  I so look forward to the ideas we discussed coming to fruition in addition to you developing the experiences you already provide, as the Tree House and it’s location really lends itself well to different activities. I will definitely be back end of the year, this will be my go to place from now on whenever I visit Ghana and want a tranquil escape, not to mention I will coming back to visit two genuine people I now class as friends/family :)

  • You will find it hard to find such hospitable hosts as Yao & Aaj - not just in Ghana but anywhere in the world. From the pre-arrival communication to our stay we felt not only well-cared for but also nurtured. The family environment is so welcoming that it feels like coming home. Aaj’s culinary creations of both Ghanaian dishes as well as international fare are delicious. Yao is a breakfast wizard as well as gifted raconteur. We had many interesting conversations over food & refreshments with Yao & Aaj during our stay. The Treehouse is situated away from the main house in an idyllic location. The view from the top terrace across the forested hills is spectacular to wake up to or watch the sun go down or to simply while away the day in the hammock with a good book enjoying the gentle breeze that ensures it never gets uncomfortably hot. This is a wonderful place for nature lovers. From the beauty of the trees to the natural wildlife including geckos, beautiful dragonflies, butterflies, curious insects, the nighttime chorus & more - you are constantly reminded that you’re having an authentic experience in the Ghanaian countryside. This is a place for those looking for something different from typical tourist guest houses. If you’re looking for a 5 star hotel that gives you a shiny pretend version of Ghana & Aburi then this isn’t the place for you. But if you want to really unwind in an authentic & happy family environment with wonderful home-cooked food then you’ll enjoy this place. We were sad to leave but felt we made genuine friends who we hope to see again. Thank you Yao & Aaj :)

  • This was our second visit to Ghana. Our first visit was just in Feb of this year. For this visit we wanted a different experience and we hoped to learn more about everyday life in Ghana. We wanted less of a tourist experience than the previous visit. Our stay at Yao and Aaj's place more than accomplished this. My wife and I felt like we were staying with family. Located in a lush green mountainous setting that's totally different from Accra, it was hard to believe that we were only 45 minutes from Accura. That we could experience rain, the sounds of nature and need a blanket at night (no air conditioning) was unbelievable. This place is filled with charm and is well maintained. Both Aaj and Yao are good cooks, and while Yao made great cappuccinos, his young son equaled him. This is a great place to relax and do absolutely nothing if one chooses. We chose to have dinners in addition to the breakfasts which were automatically included. We enjoyed the meals and opportunity to interact with hospitable hosts and their lovely 2 sons. The visit to the beautiful botanical gardens was interesting. Our conversations were lively and informative. We were close to solving societal problems of the world but time ran short. We look forward to staying here again on our return to Ghana.

  • It was a very pleasant stay. Wisdom (Francis’ cohost) was there throughout if need be and he was also very professional. They are currently developing an Estate community named Appolonia City. In that community is also Bijou Homes with over 100 affordable houses for sale. It’s a gated community with 24/7 security, water and electricity non stop. The standard is almost what we are used to in the diaspora and it’s no hustle to purchase one because they have different payment terms that suits your need. It’s sure an easy way to own a house in Ghana without having to pass through the usual stress.

  • I loved my stay at Francis Elikem’s place. He was quick to respond, the place was clean and the security made my stay even more comfortable because that was one of my concerns before I booked his place. Wisdom was also very hospitable and I appreciate all he did. I’ll definitely go back.

Maks Resort has fantastic views over the Volta river. Its peaceful and serene. It’s set in a very tranquil neighbourhood away from traffic and pollution. A beautiful tropical garden with exotic plants and a wide expanse of river with the typical river sounds.
Maks is unique in that you have a private beach and can feel the sand and water with your feet. Watch the local boats, do some fishing and enjoy the activities and life on the river in private.
The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful. Absence of traffic and noise.
  • Maks is a beautiful hotel on the riverside with exceptional staff who are there to help you with everything. We loved our room, the food and hanging out on the terrace. It was very relaxing I would recommend anyone to stay.

  • My stay at Maks Resort was awesome. I enjoyed a 3 night stay while catching up on some much needed rest while I worked online. (Personal WiFi) I was able to experience the room with a balcony and view of the lake. My room was a little small but perfect for 1-2 people. It was clean and so nice and quaint. I took advantage of the boat tour and truly enjoyed myself while filming my experience for my channel. I recommended this place to my Youtube viewers and I’d would really love to stay there again with my sweetie. I enjoyed the breakfast with egg, toast and fresh fruit every morning. I ate rice balls w palm-nut soup and fried fish in the evening. Absolutely delicious. I’ve been traveling throughout Ghana for three months now. This is the first place where the warm shower actually worked! Brilliant.

  • Wonderful place with a lively atmosphere and a fantastic view.

    Omid2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Best place I stayed in Ghana. Lovely atmosphere, good food, stylish accommodation and friendly staff. Many of the hotels in the area had a loud party vibe, this establishment was much more sophisticated and perfect for a romantic getaway or just some serious relaxing downtime. Although you’ll need a car to get around town, the staff will assist you in getting around including setting up boat tours etc. I’m great full to Rebecca who was so accommodating and helpful when I had travel issues. I highly recommend this fabulous location for a river/ocean getaway any time!

    Kristin2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Maks Resort was wonderful. There were very few other people staying there when I was, but even if it were full would still feel calm and peaceful. There's a beautiful deck area with a view of the water, which is lovely during sunset. Good rooms, good shower, wonderful staff. I absolutely hope to come back. Note that the wifi only works in the lobby. They offer reasonably priced (particularly if traveling as a group, which I was not) boat tours of the estuary and to various islands. I didn't take advantage of these so I can't review those except for the cost — $10 to Crocodile Island, and $40 for an extensive boat tour of the area, and this total price is constant regardless of the number of people splitting it.

Big Ada, Greater Accra Region, Ghana

Our flat is less than 25 minutes drive ( appox) to Accra and a good way to keep far from crowds and corona. Mountaintop location means also very few mosquitoes. Fresh air /much cooler climate than central Accra.. come and self isolate for health reason at our awe inspiring getaway.
...this place is absolutely beautiful..' ,'what an outstanding stay with such a serene view' '... we felt welcomed and cared for at all times'.. 'there are hardly any mosquitos..'. ..'I am thrilled I found this house.. if your going to Accra stay here you won't regret it'. ..'opening the balcony every morning to the breathtaking views of Aburi is just stunning'.. ..'Carolann's place is a hidden gem that should not be missed'.....' These are some of the descriptions of the place left by happy guests..This place is for longer bookings only of 4 weeks or more up to one year plus. Safari lodge is a 'back to nature' type place. The most stunning feature is our wide open terraces where you can sit eating and drinking al fresco while admiring the incredible views of Accra below. At night it's almost mosquito free so for heath reasons a big plus. We do have hot water, new IKEA style fully fitted kitchen with microwave etc..but occasionally as in most of Africa things can go wrong ..for example occasionally you may have to bathe in an African bucket shower: if there is an electricity outage the hot water will not work temporarily.( usually for a a few hours) .but hey..isn't living in other countries about experiencing a new way of living... however if you feel you cannot sometimes live in a different type way... and expect 1st world conditions 24/7.. .PLEASE DO NOT COME TO OUR HOUSE.. however if you are used to Africa and feel you can just occasionally adapt to some of the problems we experience here you are welcome. A stay at Safari Lodge will allow you to experience nature, , peace and tranquility BUT be approximately 25 minutes drive from bustling central Accra.(Accra Mall) or just approx 10 minutes drive from Adenta and Madina in Accra. The lodge is a 'Back to Nature' type of place . There are solar lamps (not generators) for when there are power cuts and due to the high altitude of the property it is cool especially at night so air-con is not necessary. We really try to preserve water at our lodge and our proud of our green credentials. Safari Lodge .. its a place where beauty and simplicity reign ... not how fast the shower runs.. Also internet modems and electricity is run on a pay as you go basis as in much of Ghana but these can be loaded up for just a few dollars Wake up early morning to birdsong and lush mountains as you peep through your curtains. After breakfast on the terrace watching the sun rise over the hills descend down the steep hills to bustling, hot and dusty Accra. By evening return to the cool tranquility of Safari lodge. You will literally feel the air freshen and cool as you once again ascend the steep slopes while watching the twinkling lights of Accra below. One advantage of this cool climate is there are very few mosquitoes at Safari Lodge. The large house is divided into two apartments . Each apartment has two bedrooms an adjoining bathroom, (kitchen, dining area and living room. Both apartments have large terraces where you can dine al fresco or just sit sipping your favourite drink watching the sun rise over the mountains. Both apartments are completely self contained within their own gardens. The gardens are full of fruit trees, papaya, tangerine, lemon, lime, guava and banana and advocate. Bed Linen provided as is all cooking equipment.
The neighbourhood around Safari Lodge is spectacular. It has an african village environment, but is also part of Accra, being in the northern suburbs. The surrounding mountains are full of trails which can unexpectedly end up in a secluded village which seems stuck in time. Nearby is a mountian-bike hire company where you can take guided tours of the surrounding countryside on mountain bikes or just hiking. Aburi Botanical Gardens is just minutes away. Here you can find species of trees from all over the world. The immediate area has many great restaurants. Nearest is Aruba Guesthouse which has incredible dishes, Hillburi hotel and Little Acre. All restaurants are set in wonderful ground with that spectacular view over the mountains and Accra which you can only find in this area which is fast becoming known as the 'Beverley Hills of Accra'. Bob Marley's wife Rita Marley is a near neighbour and the Bob Marley Foundation carries out a lot of social projects in this area. Both Little Acre Hotel and Hillburi hotel ( both are just a few minutes walk from the lodge, have amazing swimming pools which you can use.
  • Carol is a wonderful person with a great home. The groundskeeper is more than helpful and Carol really is available for any questions you may have or concerns. This was the second time staying with Carol and won’t be the last.

  • Good stay, all around. Sam and his family were great. Felt like our home. Private scenic residential Consistent communication with the host, any teething issues were addressed swiftly. Excellent location, easy to find - if you want to be away from the busy city life. This is place is regularly booked, so grab yourself booking asap, if available.

    Derrick2018-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • I loved staying at this property. It was literally like a summer home for us as I stayed here for nearly 6 weeks! The property is charming and serene with tangerines, papaya and other fruit in the garden. Opening the balcony every morning onto the breath-taking hills of Aburi is just stunning. It’s like a retreat with the goats bleating and the cockerel crowing. The apartment is spacious and airy and the location, perfect. Access into Accra is simple by taxi or trotro (bus) and takes about 30 mins, but it’s also the gateway to the Eastern region and everything it has to offer. I did have to pick up a few little items like glasses and coffee cups, but otherwise everything is here. CarolAnn was a lovely host and always returned my messages promptly. I can’t wait to come back.

    Abi2018-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice, peaceful, quiet location. The kitchen is really nice and spacious fun place for chilling out and cooking with your partner/family. The balcony is also lovely to have meals on. An excellent place for a relaxing getaway.

    Matthew2017-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • CarolAnn's place is a hidden gem that should not be missed if you are looking for a relaxing getaway in close proximity to Accra. I stayed for a month to escape the hustle and bustle of living in Accra and it was amazing. The morning view of the sunrise was something I looked forward to daily, I was happy to be awake at 5:30 am to catch it! The flat itself is beautifully and tastefully decorated and provides all the comforts of home. A HUGE bonus is hot water in the shower ALL THE TIME! Something I rarely get in Accra. The grounds are lovely and tranquil, and will provide the serenity you desire. CarolAnn is extremely responsive to communication. Sam, the caretaker, and his family were always around and extremely helpful in anything that I needed. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of nature and beauty close to the city.

  • It's a very nice place to stay around Accra! Thank you

  • The lodge is absolutely beautiful, the mountain views stunning. Everything works in the lodge and the caretaker caters to our needs and treats us like family. Due to mountain region Internet is poor so recommend you bring a Vodafone Mobile Wi-Fi R207 from Vodafone. Sit back and enjoy a wonderful vacation.

The home is situated near the banks of one of the most beautiful water bodies; the famous Volta River in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The home is close to several great attractions like the Adomi Bridge, The Royal Senchi resort, Sajuna resort, Akwamufie palace, Akosombo Dam, Somanya Beadmaking factories, amongst others. It is about 90 minutes drive from the capital city Accra. It is a great spot to rest from the hustle and bustle of the city. The host has a van and a car that could be rented.
The home is a two story building. Host's family lives downstairs. The upstairs has eight single bedroom units all with a private bathroom . Seven of the units are currently being used as long term rentals. The eighth unit which is a spacious double bedroom is the unit that has been listed here. The guest shares a kitchen with other tenants. Guest and tenants have a private separate entrance which makes it really convenient for them to come and go. The room is really spacious and well lit. The room has a lock on the door so guest can rest assured that their belongings will be safe.
The neighborhood is really quiet and serene. The neighbors are really friendly and nice. You get great views of the hills and the valley from the home.
  • Aunty Sarah was a star. Both she and Uncle plus Enoch just made our stay one to remember. Enoch kept us laughing throughout the stay. Very vibrant gentleman who was very familiar with the local area. Aunty Sarah, allowed us to use the car which was driven by Enoch. Being our first time using AirBnb, it was a relief to have such wonderful hosts. It was our second time visiting the area as a couple. And we are very grateful for the unbelievable warm reception. We have plans to return in September God-willing with friends.

  • Now, reading the other reviews, you may be left thinking "wow, is this place really as wonderful as people make it out to be?" And the answer is yes. Yes the A/C is that powerful. Circulation overall in the house is quite great. The house is gorgeous, with all the amenities. In addition, Nana really is the best AirBnB host that I have had the good fortune of encountering. I was traveling by myself, and she made sure that I was picked up safely from my bus location. When I got to the house, she provided me with a quick meal since I had been traveling for a good part of the day. The next day she provided me with my favorite meal, hausa koko, which I had mentioned in passing the night before. She provided me with many tips for where to visit in the area, as well as a really kind man who showed me around the Akosombo Dam. For every night that I happened to be home before dinner time, she provided me with a hot meal. I knew then that if I were ever in the area, I would make sure to book with her. Book a place with her. You won't regret it.

  • Nana's place is impeccably clean, relaxing, and well furnished. It was very easy to locate and close to several major attractions like the Royal Senchi Resort, Sajuna Beach and the Akosombo Dam. Grandma Sarah, as we affectionately call her, was always available to answer our questions and the kitchen is incredibly well stocked! We were able to prepare our local dishes there to enjoy 😊 The room was clean with running water and AC. The grounds were well kept. Grandma Sarah was so kind and easy going it definitely made our stay much more relaxing. We will definitely stay at Nana's place again when we are I the Akosombo region!

    Marna2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Nana’s place is beautiful and exactly as described. It’s in a peaceful semi rural location, but close to all of the area’s attractions, including Lake Volta, the Akosumbo Dam and the Royal Senchi. Sarah, Nana’s mother-in-law who runs the property is a wonderful host - and she went out of her way on more than occasion to ensure that we had a comfortable and memorable stay. I can not recommend this place highly enough and hope to stay here again in future.

You will stay in a fishermen village. WCG is run by a Ghanaian and Italian couple. Our host compound is placed in between the lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. The natural environment will offer you peace and a unique experience. Close to Togo border.
Far away from noisy beaches, crowded cities, obvious touristic attractions, you will get to see and feel something completely different. A part of Ghana – and a taste of Africa – which is not easy to discover tracking regular travel routes. We will offer you local and homemade food, Italian pasta, Italian coffee, a special pizza called “Pizza Brusca”, handmade ice-cream, nice music, an African library, a tourist guide to visit the surroundings and attend local traditional events, tailored trips and a few other surprises. In the Keta area it is possible to visit Fort Prinzenstein, the only fort in the eastern territory of the Volta Region. The fort, which was built by the Danish in 1784, has been consumed by the numerous sea storms. You can also visit Cape St Paul Lighthouse, the most ancient lighthouse of the country. The journey from Accra to Keta crosses the Lower Volta Bridge and can be made by tro-tro or private car: absolutely worthwhile! Once you get there you can visit Ghana’s largest lagoon: 40 km long and 8 km wide. The place is well-known by birdwatchers. Visitors can choose between going on a board trip to one of the lagoon’s wild isles, swimming in the Ocean or going shopping at the local market. You can also choose to visit the Wli falls, a top attraction in all Ghana. One special activity is to visit a traditional pottery site. There you can see how clay pottery is made. You can even learn how to do it yourself, classes can be organized on request if booked on time.
Aflasco is the name of the host village, a small community of fishermen within the area of Keta, former principal town of the Volta Region. Our host village is placed in between the lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. Our white-sand beaches make the perfect setting for you to relax, contemplate the fishermen and get to know local people.
  • This place is calm, clean, nice, two minutes walking from the sea, all is decorated with love. Yaw was a wonderful host, always there, very helpful and friendly. And Annabel was answering all questions, I have before at once on WhatsApp. I felt so good that I made the time longer to stay there. The toilet and shower was the cleanest, I saw on my trip through Ghana. Yaw is cooking delicious! A big thank you for this wonderful stay in this unique place!!!

  • What an amazing place - like a village on its own. Peaceful and serene, made of all local materials. Yao is the technician, the vision and such a hospitable and kind man. Highly recommend this epic getaway!

  • A&Y Wildcamp makes you feel like you've stepped through a portal of sorts as soon as you enter the compound. Gorgeous place, Beautiful huts, amazing food and the convenient location from where the beach and lagoon (located on opposite sides) are exactly less than a ten minute walk made it a perfect stay. Yaw was a brilliant host and took real good care of our needs. Antonella was not around when we visited, yet her coordination and responses were always prompt. Highly recommended and will definitely visit again soon! Until next time, Grazie and Akpenawo!

  • Just a perfect place to enjoy Ghana ❤️ a place where you dont need shoes, plans or schedules. We enjoyed all the lovely details, from the shells on the ground to beautiful pictures on the walls. Food was lovely, huts were cosy and the beach was wonderful!

    Laura2019-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is not the typical place to stay in. Antonella & Yaw will take care of you as if you are home. Awesome place, very close to the beach with sand all around. You can just forget about your shoes. Very nice common space and great food.

    Georgi2018-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • I can really recommend you to come to this awesome place! The atmosphere is undescrible peaceful, silent and relaxed! This is like an insider place for relaxation! Unfortunately we just met Yau, because Antonella was abroad, so we met just one awesome person instead of two I suggest! Try to stay at least for 2 nights here, you won't regret it, if you're not in a rush!:)

  • A peaceful haven to relax and unwind. Very close to a beach for swimming. Great hospitality, awesome food made with love. A great energy to the place. Lovely hosts and guests. Would like to go back!

We will offer you local and homemade food, Italian pasta, a special pizza called “Pizza Brusca”, handmade ice-cream, nice music, a tourist guide to visit the surroundings and attend local traditional events, tailored trips and a few other surprises.
  • Antonella and Yaw's house is a lovely place where attention to detail tells a story, respecting traditions. It was a pleasure to spend time with it, even if for a while. Thanks and see you soon for further information

    Elisa2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Antonella and Yao are two nice and discreet owners, their little paradise set in the suggestive scenery of the Keta lagoon makes you feel perfectly at ease. Inside the lodge you live barefoot, you share the common spaces, there is a mosquito net in every room, and beautiful cured plants. Also noteworthy is the excellent opportunity to live an experience in contact with the mentality of the place, given that Yao is indigenous, and Antonella has been there for some time. The only drawback is that there are no restaurateurs and services in the immediate vicinity. Fortunately, at the Wild Camp you can also eat: you can agree from the morning on a shared menu, so as to facilitate both guests and owners. I also appreciated the attention to the environment, which unfortunately is not a very hot topic in Africa.

    Chiara2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great! Online the pictures look wonderful but it’s even nicer in person! Antonella is a delight to have a chat with, a super interesting person, and Yao cooks up a storm so don’t forget to ask for dinner.

  • We had a wonderful stay and A&Y Wild Camp and totally achieved our main goal: relaxing and good food :) Yaw is a great cook and made our stay very comfortable. The compound is cosy and lovely decorated. Thank you very much again!

  • A delightful environment and a special welcome. Everything is studied in detail. I appreciated the books in our room, the cauri scattered here and there .. Impeccable cleanliness, peace and tranquility ... We will return!

  • Wild Camp Ghana is perfect place to enjoy Ghana! The place has relaxing atmosphere with beautiful nature and fisherman village around you. When you arrive there just forget your shoes, chill, feel the ocean and enjoy great food!

    Laura2019-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • The location is amazing! Minutes walk from a very peaceful beach. I went for long walks along the coast line watching tiny crabs scurrying into their holes as I approached. Yaw was a great host and a wonderful cook. I really enjoyed our conversations. I'll definitely return next time I'm in Keta.

An absolutely idyllic villa located 30 kilometres and 1 hours drive from Accra airport, nestled in the rainforests of the Akwapim mountain ridge just beyond the Presidential lodge at Peduase and above the village of Agyementi. On its own enclosed premises, the villa is complimented by its mature, verdurous and colourful garden and fishpond. The living space and bedrooms are all on the first floor with terraces and balconies. A 6-seater Jacuzzi and sauna is also available for use on request.
The villa has a preserved, distinctive colonial feel to it throughout. It has a bright airy living room on the first floor with a terrace. This space is also served by a mezzanine attic space that boasts sweeping panoramic views of Accra & Tema in the daytime and more spectacularly at night. The entire space is tastefully furnished in wood and with local art and artefacts. Bedrooms are ensuite and comfortably furnished with four poster beds. Sitting around the pond and walks in the garden are highly recommended.
It’s a rainforest with lots to see and to explore. Incredible birdsong twice a day at dawn and at dusk.
  • A true paradise for all nature enthusiast. We stayed at Charles for 3 nights. I’ll recommend at least staying for a minimum of 4 nights to be able to appreciate the beauty of the place . I warn you, you will not want to leave this place once you’re here. We were met by Charles’ driver “Nat” at Peduause Lodge and taken to the villa through the village of Kitase. The roads leading up the villa is untarred and rather rough. A 4x4 vehicle will be the ideal vehicle due to the road conditions. It’s very much a secluded retreat so it’s imperative that you stock up on your own supply of food and water. If you need to replenish your food or water, the local market is about 10-15mins drive, there you can get fresh local fruits and produce. The gas station across from Peduase Lodge also carries water, frozen fish and meat. Leo, Danso and Linda are the caretakers that we were privileged to share the villa with and can now call family. They took such great care of us One thing that stands out about Charles’ place is the attention to detail and the bold design. Everything is well thought out and carefully placed . There’s an abundance of natural air and light. The indoor outdoor architecture creates a sense of living in the trees. There are plenty things to do at the villa. Charles has a hot tub and working sauna on site. You can also retreat to the hammock - there you can enjoy the birds chipping and listen to the beautiful melody from the leaves as they rustle in the wind. I will definitely stay at Charles’ place again without hesitation

  • Hello Samuel and Family. I firmly believe life experiences are about our 'feelings' how the person, event or thing made you feel. Feelings are also lasting memories that gives you a great experience. The home was prepared for us, the rooms were prepared and all of the amenities worked without interruptions. The house was exceptionally clean. Samuel also greeted us with a Christmas gift. Our impression of Samuel.. he is a fine and gentle young man with a great professional attitude. I will stay here always when I return to Ghana. The gated community was secured and the landscaping was beautiful. My friend enjoyed the peaceful environment. Menndase

    Valerie2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Samuel's place was a great experience. It is located in a gated estate with western European standards and excellent facilities. It is located on the outskirt of Accra which makes it quite a distance but it was worth the stay and i will revisit anytime I am in Accra.

  • I can honestly say that Knox is the best airbnb host I have ever met. Me and my friend had been travelling trough Ghana for about ten days before we arrived, with some good and some bad experiences but coming to Hohoe and staying with Knox was the best decision we could have made. From the momemt we arrived until the moment we left he and his lovely wife Talata made sure we felt at home and happy. And because of them I think we were able to experience all the beauty that Volta region has to offer in the short period we had to spent there. The tour he set up for us was amazing and he has customized it for us perfectly. We visited the monkey sanctuary, climed a mountain and bathed in the Wli waterfalls. And got the opportunity to spent time with local kids from the school to learn about the educational system in Ghana. He really gave us a cultural expierence and apart from that he and his wife are warm and kind people and we enjoyed very nice conversations with them. The stay was something we will never forget and I really recommend to stay with these lovely people!

    Dzifa2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Knox's place is a hidden gem in the volta Region. Its location is as described with both the Wli waterfalls and the highest mountain in Ghana being accessible to cover in a day trip by car. The bungalow is beautiful and the room simply furnished with what one requires - clean beddings to which an extra blanket can be added as volta Region gets cold at night. Knox pays attention to the most important details a traveller would be glad to have: -very tasty meals after exhausting tours (Knox would make such amazing meals! I loved how he focused on preparing mainly local dishes so as to give a cultural immersion to his guests. The Redred sauce and Tom brown breakfast were my favourites) and this with a selection of juicy sweet fruits - deep conversations on culture, people, his experiences as a volunteer across the globe - guidance and assistance in organising the daily tours one can make in the region as well as a cooking class with one of his friends - evenings relaxing on his outdoor porch enjoying the calm cool night after a long hot day and a great dinner. -immersion into the community through a visit to any of the social projects he is working on or simply a bike tour of the town giving a peek into life in Hohoe. Come prepared to be amazed by his Hospitality. Trust me - you will end up staying longer than planned 😏 Thank you soo much Knox for really giving us a home away from home and wishing you all the best as you expand the airbnb. MAKS Resort has fantastic views over the Volta river. Its peaceful and serene. It’s set in a very tranquil neighbourhood away from traffic and pollution. A beautiful tropical garden with exotic plants and a wide expanse of river with the typical river sounds. Maks Resort is noted for its beach front. The bar overhangs the River Volta and has very clear waters. From the bar area, you can sit in a natural environment and watch the boats go past, ranging from local canoes to speedboats.
MAKS Resort is unique in its setting as we have the widest expanse of river view. There is a speed boat available to take you on a private cruise. The sky at sunset and sunrise is a beautiful experience and so the fishes that abound on the shores in between the rockery. A beautiful clean uncluttered space and availability of table games.
The town is a sleepy town, set between the Atlantic Ocean and the River Volta, a source of drinking water for Ghana. A Ramsar Conservation site is close by where we have the rare red mangrove nestling in swamps. The Resort is mainly flanked by private chalets.

Six of the units are currently being used as long term rentals. This is one of the other two that is listed on Airbnb.
  • We had a great stay here. Sarah was so nice to us, he suggested nice places to visit and eat. Also having a car renting (we even didnt payed when we had a ride to a restaurant) option is really good! The view from the apartment, the garden and the neighbourhood is lovely.

  • Just as advertised, I got my serene spot to do my thinking before the new year. Aunty Sarah was lovely and the space was cozy. Location is as central as you could have it, sits between Senchi, Kpong, Akosombo. Great great place

    Gabriel2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Truly home away from home. I actually got sick while there and Ms. Sarah took care of me like an Aunty. She brought me breakfast and lunch and made sure I had tea for 2 days so that I wouldn't have to go out and get something to eat. I cannot tell you how welcomed I felt in her home. She also provided me with the right of mount of privacy while checking up on me to make sure that I was OK. When I went out she had her staff waiting outside to make sure I got in safely. This lady is an angel. As a woman traveling alone, I always felt safe and looked after...that's also the Ghanaian way! The place was clean and well equipped with special touches that made it as comfortable as possible. I am truly grateful for my Airbnb experience here. Ms. Sara even taught me how to make banku and okra stew. When I was feeling better, she took me to the bead factory and showed me around town on the trotro. This Airbnb experience left me speechless. Too many kind gestures to mention. Ms. Sara, her husband and her neighbors will always be in my heart. The Airbnb is the best one in Ghana...period! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED... 5 stars all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We traveled to Akosombo and we stayed with Aunty Sarah for the weekend. We arrived a little before midnight but she still waited up and came to pick us up.It was the most peaceful stay the entire weekend. The house is clean, beautiful and the environment serene. She's very hospitable, kind and sweet. She offered some good advice on places to visit in Akosombo. I recommend her place to anyone traveling to Akosombo and looking for a place to stay. Definitely book this place, comfortability is 100% guaranteed. Thank you Aunty Sarah we will definitely visit again.

From the beginning to the end, it has been just great. I went to the market with her and she even showed me how to cook the Ghanain snails! The place is quiet. The room is really confortable, the bed great. Everything was working: AC, tv, water... I could use the kitchen. Thanks again!

The room was sacious and clean, with mosquito nets and a private bathroom. The guesthouse is located close to a beach, which is beautiful but unfortunately littered with plastic. Another clean beach aswell as the village are easily accessible by motorbikes. Very recommendable as a getaway from the city!

We will offer you local and homemade food, Italian pasta, a special pizza called “Pizza Brusca”, handmade ice-cream, nice music, a tourist guide to visit the surroundings and attend local traditional events, and a few other surprises.
  • The camp is a very lovely place to stay. It gives you the true feel of living in Keta. Great views of the beach and lagoon, and a clean, quiet space.

  • The stay was amazing being that the host was able to offer everything that was needed! The location is great, being that it is a short walk to the beach and the lagoon on the other side. Definitely would visit again!

  • Amazing stay!!! A&Y Wild Camp is the perfect place to relax and disconnect from the (charming) Ghanaian daily life. And forget about your shoes from the moment you cross the door! :) Antonella and Yao are the best hosts ever! They took care of us but also gave us the peace we were looking for. Beautiful decoration. Rooms, common areas and toilet very clean and the beach is just 2 min away. Thanks for the delicious Italian food, it made our day! Hope to come back some day!

  • Great lodge! Easy to access, with all confort and amazing Italian pasta! It is a very quiet area, perfect for a weekend away from Accra!

  • The place is very nice and Antonella and Yao are very kind and extremely careful. We will love to be there again.

  • Can only recomend staying with Antonella and Yaw! I really felt home there and had really great, relaxing days before I flew back home. It is a really small place with great family atmosphere. It is super calm and relaxed, I was there to work on my research and there could not have been a better place to work and relax at the same time. The camp is simple in the sense of not having running water, but it is very beautifully decorated and really comfortable. It is located in a small village and one can see that the two have a great relation with the community, everyone is really friendly and helpful when I walked around. It is situated between the sea and the lagoon, which are both really beautiful. Also did a small Lagoon tour organised by them wich I can definitely recomend. Food (italian and local - as you wish) looks and tastes great, freshly prepared just for you. And in the night the stars are just amazing. The best of all are Antonella and Yaw! They are just great, they make you feel home and care for every wish you did not even raise! I was a bit sick, but thanks to them I was fine before I left, they cared for me really lovely. So stay there for a few days or longer, to relax or work, it is really a great place.I hope to come back soon!

Ada-Foah itself is a pretty amazing place...calm and just beautiful. You've got the river and the sea at the same place. You can hear waves from the sea from your room at night. Clean space, a kitchen to make your own food if you want...and i will be sharing my coffee from across the world with you. There is a chilling space behind the house with a bed and table which is just perfect to relax.
We have a guestroom which can be occupied by approximately five people. The room includes an own bathroom with toilet and shower for the guests. Kitchen, hall and backside of the house are shared places. It´s always nice to enjoy some time and a good chat with our NGO members who are also living there.
Behind the house there is a small farm where you see people grow vegetables in the morning, we are about 8 minutes walk to the atlantic ocean. We live in a peaceful green area but close to important centres for food, kiosks etc..

  • It is a very well-located house beside the lake and 5-10 mins walk from the beach, It is near the tro-tro and taxi stop. The area is very quiet and beautiful. The room is independent from the rest of the house, clean, it has comfortable beds and a complete bathroom. Paul is a very hospitable person. We spoke since the beginning giving me all the details of the place and helping with recommendations when I needed. Paul and Angela also offered us a really nice coffee in the mornings with very interesting conversation.

The fresh breeze mountain top house has 3 guest rooms with en suite bath rooms. Each room with a view of a garden or landscape with a common upstairs balcony. The mosquito free neighborhood, is home to Botanical garden, Biggest carvers market, Presidential villa, Asheasi university, Slave plantation.
The mountain top home feels so far yet so near to Accra.
We are located in an old village-like community of Adenkrebi although some of the residential accommodation around us will marvel you.
  • I enjoyed my brief stay at Daniel’s. I’m going to recommend larger vehicles for future guests to withstand the rocky climb. Smaller vehicles will take a serious beating. The husband and wife are adorable, very friendly, accommodating and hospitable. I enjoyed breakfast and dinner for a fee. It was very delicious. The view on the balcony is gorgeous! The room smelled nice and was clean along with the restroom. The yard is quite nice although there is construction taking place. I’m sure it’s going to be outstanding when complete! Thank you.

  • Daniel and his family are very welcoming. Daniel is very easy to talk with because of his personality and knowledge. He can teach you a lot and he can bring you to places you will find interesting. Zeta will make you familiar with Ghanaian cuisine, it was so nice that I was eating so much more then I should have. The location of their plot is beautiful and you are surrounded by fresh air and sounds of nature.

  • Best hosts in all of Ghana!!! Daniel and his beautiful family made me feel at home as soon as I arrived at the airport, they were promptly waiting for me, after an exhausting trip his wonderful wife made me a delicious home cooked breakfast and in the evening even a hearty dinner. The home is in a beautiful mountain top with walking trails and nature all around - the view is stunning. A fresh breeze reaches the rooms and best of all no mosquitoes. Daniel answered all of my questions, gave me great tips around the area, and even invited me to an amazing weekend health event being hosted at the site. A came a stranger and left as a friend! Cannot say enough wonderful things about Daniel, his family, and beautiful abode.

  • Daniel has been a brilliant host, so helpful with issues even outside of his scope. Unfortunately I had been let down by the original guesthouse and found myself with nowhere to stay. Phoned Daniel and although he wasn't at home he made arrangements with the taxi driver. The stay at Daniels has been great with tasty fruit breakfasts and traditional dinners. The room is on suite and very comfortable. All requirements were met. Daniel has organised insightful trips and made introductions to very interesting people. The property is a distance from the road so Daniel was instrumental in directing the taxi driver who found the place first time. Once there the place is so peaceful, lush with vegetation and serene. A great hideaway and home from home. The rooms are clean and comfortable ànd are maintained so. Thanks Zeta for the fàntastic meals. The whole family are great. Good luck. I will definately recommend to friends in London and I'll be back with the family.

  • Danielle and his family was awesome! True West African Experience. We experienced the Village to the City Life and everything in between. Daniel is very knowledgeable and resourceful in Ghana. Great tour guide and an overall great connection to have if you have bigger plans to help develop Ghana! I’ll be back

  • This was my first trip to Ghana, and my first solo trip. I wanted adventure & to experience africa, through the lives of its people. Daniel & Zeta over delivered. I have never met a more warm and accommodating family. From the courtesy ride from the airport, To the surprise Birthday, bash they planned for me. This was A memorable Birthday!! Thanks Again! Zeta, had decorated the garden area, prepared delicious authentic Ghanaian dishes, invited friends, all right under my nose. This is how, this couple welcomes guests to Ghana, They go beyond your expectations. Daniel, is the go to tour guide. He tailored my tour to fit my budget. Ghana is very hot, having the comfort of Daniels air conditioned van, while sighting seeing was a plus...daniel made me feel like my enjoyment & comfort was always his first priority. His expertise on time management kept things flowing....my accommodations were clean & comfortable. I will definitely stay with Daniel & Zeta again and I highly recommend their place.

  • Daniel's place just outside of Accra was an oasis of quiet, peace and fresh air. It was well located to get into the city as well as interesting places to tour near the house. Daniel had great suggestions that we would not have thought of ourselves. Myself, husband and two 20+ year old son's really enjoyed the superb hospitality and delicious food. Daniel and his family truly made our stay a wonderful experience.
