Host were amazing, right there for anything we wanted. Welcomed us with warmth. Excellent place if you want to relax, it’s away from host home so you have complete privacy as well. A privately located and relaxing cottage with farm views on a working dairy cow/sheep farm. Farm walks with incredible views with milking cows, calves, sheep and lambs. The cottage is located about 50 minutes drive away from the Auckland International Airport. Rush hour traffic during the week may add 30-40 minutes onto that time though. State Highway 1 and 2 are within 15 minutes of the cottage so access is easy to the Coromandel and Bay of Plenty beaches and further South through New Zealand.
The cottage is located on a working dairy farm with calves and cows. Cows are milked twice a day. Milking a few of the cows may be something that guests would like to experience. The farm is approximately 400 acres and there are a number of farm walks that guests may like to walk. The cottage is located well away from the main house and is private and quiet.
This is a private location with only a few houses along the road. There are a number of cafes with the farthest being 20 minutes away. The closest place for breakfast is within a 5-minute drive. There is a small superette 10 minutes away by car but it would be best if guests were well-stocked with food before they arrive.
  • Kate's farm is a lovely bit of rural New Zealand heaven. We stayed for one night on a family trip and took some time to walk around the farm, take pictures of the animals, and enjoy the scenery. The cottage is clean and stylish and Kate was very responsive. Great stay!

    Zelda2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the place. Kate is an awesome host ,smily and helpful. We felt like home ...best night in NZ also because we love farm life. Would stay one week if we could ,maybe next time.thanks for everything.

  • Nice, calm stay, would come again. Felt welcomed. Lots of mosquitos but the king sized bed has a mosquito net.

  • Very peaceful country setting - had a great sleep with all that clean country air.

    Rex2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Awsome! The cottage and scenery were also great. I will come back this cottage again.

    伸吾2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a wonderful time at Kate's, and we wish we had more time on the farm. Kate herself is friendly and interesting, and took time out of her day to show us around and chat with us. The beds were comfortable and the wifi was great!

    Ali2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • A true taste of kiwi farm life, this delightful spot was perfect for our family. Our daughter loved all the animals, and the accommodation was warm, well appointed and value for money. If you’re arriving late I would recommend organising your food on the way as local shops shut early and selection is limited. Kate & Barry are wonderful hosts and you won’t regret booking this place. An easy 50 minute drive to the airport.

    Kieran2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kate & Barry were great hosts, very personable and informative. My sons and I learned quite a bit about their dairy cows. The country/farm atmosphere was so lovely to enjoy and experience. It was such a joy to stay in their cottage. With all the conveniences of home. It was new, with nice furnishings, very clean, comfortable, and cozy. It would be a great honeymoon, or longer stay experience. We wished we had more time to stay here. We thank them very much for their hospitality. Barbara Bucca & sons Mario, and Anthony

Escape the city for a weekend in the country, perhaps enjoy some golf at the best course in the Waikato, experience Hampton Downs or maybe visit Raglan, Thames or Kaiaua for the day . A good place to stopover on arrival or departure from NZ. Our place is close to the Waikato Expressway, 7 mins from Hampton Downs and 20 mins walk from Te Kauwhata Village and less than 1 hour to Auckland airport (off peak.) The unit is self-contained and private with breakfast ingredients provided.
We share our place with our small dog Tigger, two cats Muffin and Crosbie, 3 Alpacas _Levi, Jasper and Diego and six hens who lay lovely eggs. If the hens are laying you may get fresh farm eggs for breakfast. In the summer you are welcome to swim in our small lap pool, wander around our garden or go for a walk in the countryside. The beautiful Waikare golf course is close by and welcomes green fee players. The bedsit is quite self contained and separate from the main house. Continental breakfast ingredients supplied.
Te Kauwhata is a small country village with a hotel which serves meals and two cafes. There is a grocery shop, chemist and hairdresser plus other shops and services. Hamilton is about 1 hour south and Auckland 1 hour north on the Expressway. Raglan, Thames and the Coromandel beaches about 1 hour also. Rangiriri which serves great country meals at the hotel is just 5 minutes south and Huntly with the Hakarimata walkway, steam train and Coalfields Museum is 15 minutes drive. Nikau caves and café are 30 minutes drive west to this spectacular natural feature. Bookings required for cave trip. Lakes Waikare and Whangape are close by as is the Waikato River for walks, drives and aquatic activities. Hampton Downs motor racing track is 7 mins away by car.
  • It a picturesque location, there is a small village nearby with some food outlets. There is also a hotel nearby that do good meals for a reasonable cost. The studio is clean and nicely presented and the shower has good water pressure. the hosts are nice people and they were helpful with tips on what was available nearby. there were breakfast items provided and I made use of a nice sunny spot and seating outside of my studio to have a leisurely breakfast. I asked if I could help to feed the alpaca's and I enjoyed doing that very much. I was very happy with my stay here and would be happy stay again.

    Helen2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts, very welcoming and friendly. Loved the swim in their pool and feeding their alpacas. The little extra touches like juice, toast, and cereals left for us for breakfast were great. Clean, comfy and quiet. Would recommend.

  • A quiet and private studio on a beautiful property! We were fortunate enough to feed TV e alpacas, meet the dog and use the pool a bit. The host was gracious and had great recommendations for where to get dinner. Small continental breakfast in the studio was a lovely way to wrap up our trip.

It has a detached, 10m x 3m self contained cabin, with a 10m x 3m deck. It is very suitable for a couple, but also has a pull out double sofa bed for your use if required. • The cottage is very quaint and comfortable with fantastic views over the valley. It is in a peaceful and beautiful location. Jan and John were fabulous hosts, they were generous with the food and goodies they left for us, generous with their time. Their lovely dogs were an added bonus. A gem of a place.

Our home is on 1.3 acres close to the Waikato Expressway with expansive views of surrounding farmland with hills in the distance. Your accommodation is private but across the drive from us - your hosts - so are we available to answer any questions. Your room has a heat pump but receives all-day sun. We are 15 minutes drive from Hamilton and close to several Function Centres if you just wish to stay local rather than chance a drive home afterwards.
There are several tourist attractions around us - Hobbiton, Waitomo Caves, walking up Mount Te Aroha or Mount Pirongia or surfing at Raglan. A short drive will take you to Lake Hakanoa, which is a 3.6km gentle stroll around this lake. Ballooning over Waikato is an annual event held in March and the famous Fieldays in June each year. The Expressway will take you to Cambridge with it's quaint English atmosphere and superb antique shopping. It's just a short drive to Ngaruawahia and you can cycle down the Waikato Esplanade all the way to Hamilton Gardens. Ngaruawahia also boasts Breaking Bread Cafe with it's generous portions and good prices, or alternatively in Taupiri on the banks of the Waikato is Hopin' Stopin' Café.
  • The hosts are kind and friendly. Good to have the independent and silent space.

This place is absolutely lovely to have a stay away from it all. Handy to Auckland/Hamilto/Tauranga if you want a week end away. Lots of people look at this listing, and only few bookings..Just want to say that we have not had a single person staying here that was disappointed, so maybe you should book. .:) We have also had quite a number of oversees tourists staying at this lovely quiet location, after flying in from overseas, or just before leaving, as it's only 100 k from the airport.
The "cabin" is a stag camper unit, usually seen on the back of a ute(small truck), We decided to put ours next to the creek; it has a very comfortable bed (double) to sleep in, and a great bench seat; the kitchen is just a few steps away and whereever you are, you can hear the running water from the creek, and you are surrounded by native bush. Fantastic for nature lovers and city people wanting a break alike!!!
Our place is unique, because we're reasonably close to everything but still very secluded and a lovely private setting.
  • This is a truely unique kiwi experience - simple done well - would highly recommend both the hosts and this magical little spot

    Helen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great. If you need a quiet getaway to unwind and enjoy nature this is the spot. We loved it, the sound of the stream, native birds and time away from the city. Koos is a good host and we enjoyed being able to walk on the farm. The top of the farm has an amazing view of the Kaimais and the Coromandel.

  • A very lovely and cool place. We really enjoyed our stay and spent so much of our time in the hot tub (warm water, epsom salt, candles, wine and the great view of the river = perfect) I would say this is the main highlight of our stay.

Located just 9 kilometres from State Highway 1 at Mercer this cottage is about 45 minutes from Auckland Airport, 60 minutes from Auckland City centre, 60 minutes from Hamilton. Pukekawa is a beautiful rural area and has a service station with small country store offering basic groceries along with some fine local produce. The cottage is one bedroom, one bathroom, fully equipped kitchen with open plan dining and lounge area, bright and cheery and in a very peaceful and quiet location.
Great spot to arrive and prepare to tour New Zealand or stay before departing.

Simple sleep-out that should keep you comfortable whilst you stay in The Village. Located on a quiet cul de sac, the sleep-out sits at the front of the property with it's own private courtyard and plenty of space for on street parking.
Sleep-out includes wall mounted Television with AppleTV (including Netflix). Port-a-cot and iron available on request.
Best described as a small suburb in the middle of farmland. Meremere was once a bustling village, but since the closure of Meremere Power Station, it is a town waiting to have it's potential re-realised. Currently, the new library and community centre, school with playground and a corner dairy complete the village's needs. The village looks a bit rough and ragged around the edges, but it is an awesome little community that tends to keep to itself.

This home is absolute riverfront on over 8000 square meters of park-like grounds, with many mature trees and overlooking the mighty Waikato River. Two guest bedrooms & two bathrooms cater for up to 5 guests. The home is spacious and the setting is very private. The lawn slopes down to the river, where you can launch your boat or fish directly from the lawn for Rainbow & Brown trout, or Rudd & Koi Carp. Usually, you will just be sharing the home with myself and my two small dogs, Diego and Guss.
Enjoy hours of fun on our 100m long Flying Fox which zooms through the garden, good for all ages! The home is a large solid 1970s build with great views, plenty of sun and light. It is still very original, but it is homely, clean and comfortable. This is not a new modern home :-)
The home is on the outskirts of Ngaruawahia township, to walk into town would take approximately 15 minutes. Ngaruawahia is a very pleasant small town with local shops, a supermarket and some restaurants and cafes. A local attraction is the Hakarimata Walkway/steps through temperate rainforest to the lookout.
  • Guy is super friendly and got lots of tips for the area. Place is located in massive yard and the river is a good bonus. Would recommend!

  • The three of us loved everything about our stay at Guy‘s home. The house is very spacious and beautiful. You have a lot of privacy on the area. The river is perfect for a refreshing swim and the garden invites you to just chill in the grass. We personally also loved the two little dogs of the family. Everything was clean when we checked-in and Guy was always helpful and kind. He had some very good recommedations regarding glowworm walking tours and beaches. It was all perfect and we‘d love to visit this Airbnb again!

  • A charming location on the river in a clean room with plenty of space and a new bathroom. We were surprised by entering via the garage but after having a good look around at a collection of cool antiques and rugby memorabilia we didn’t have a care. The room opens up to large lush lawns just outside the French doors and the setting is fantastic. Janene and Paul are very friendly and accommodating hosts. They left us wine and chocolate too!

  • This is an immaculately presented place right on the Waikato river. The space is ⅓ of a three car garage but has been completely converted into a lovely cosy room. • I was traveling alone in New Zealand and was looking for a place with a central location outside of Auckland. I'm also an automotive/racing enthusiast, so this was a perfect match! It was very clean, comfortable, and quiet during my stay. The entire Hampton Downs complex makes it particularly special. I enjoyed running over to the Aoraki Cafe for breakfast and coffee in the mornings, and the nearby karting track was one of the best I have ever been on. I did have to do some work while I was there and I appreciated the fast wifi connection. I could not imagine a better place to stay when an event is going on at Hampton Downs. But, even if there is nothing happening, this makes a good "home base" from which to travel to nearby areas like Rotorua, Auckland, and the Coromandel Peninsula. Highly recommended.

Close to many walks and attractions in the Waikato, a short drive to Hamilton city or Auckland airport and friendly pets make this house a comfy stop on your travels; a home away from home. A private room in a 2 bedroom house. My father lives in the house with two cats and one very friendly dog.
Private bedroom with electric blankets for those cooler nights, a cosy house with pets in a nice small town. Close to nice hikes and central to main attractions in larger cities, minutes from the expressway to Auckland, Rotorua, and Taupo. 15minutes to Hamilton city, and 40minutes to Raglan.
Quiet, caring community, semi-rural area, no traffic like the big cities. Hakarimata ranges are a 2 minute drive. Close to shopping centres in Hamilton & a short drive to other sights/activities. Raglan, Hobbiton, Rotorua, Taupo, Mount Maunganui/Tauranga are also within a few hours drive.

Piney is the sweetest host and we had a fantastic time chatting with him. After so much time on the road, our stay felt like coming home. Thank you so much again for such a wonderful time!

    Jo2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Good place for a stop, the bed was great and they put some effort into giving you a decent breakfast (loved the cereals and the milk), great chatting with him and the flatmates.

The outside setting is just as beautiful, 2 beautiful terraces, a beautiful garden, a large vegetable patch. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, equipped. The bathroom reserved for guests, too. .Waikato, Waikato, New Zealand

This new, architecturally designed retreat looks out over the Waikato river and Hakarimata ranges beyond. Recently winning the 2018 New Zealand small project architecture award this is a high quality, beautiful space to relax and unwind. 20 minutes from Hamilton, just a few minutes from the Waikato Expressway, we are located close to and from Auckland Airport and central to North Island sights and activities. Also featured in the 2018 HOME, Houses and NZ Architecture Magazines.
The kitchen is the hub of the home with the deck informally slicing through the plan. The living space steps down into a light filled volume reaching out to the river. A mezzanine pulls over above with an exposed bookcase balustrade providing a sense of homeliness. The rear of the house, delineated by the seamless pivot door, provides a place to retreat with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and laundry. The third bedroom is tucked away secretly just beyond the upstairs mezzanine. The home includes large floor-to-ceiling sliding doors at either side of the kitchen space and northern river aspects out from the living space providing great indoor / outdoor amenity. The home itself includes all modern amenities plus a log fire for winter stays. An open fire pit sits down on the edge of the river bank for a great outdoor experience.
About the Area: - 20 min from Hamilton, 15 min to the Base Shopping centre. - Easy access onto the Waikato expressway - 1 hour from Auckland International Airport - 40 minutes to Raglan for great surf, coffee and food. - Within an hour to Matamata, Cambridge and Waitomo Caves. - Te Awa cycle trails starts just 5kms away - Hakarimata Summit track just 5kms down the road.
  • Amazing views of the Waikato River and a lovely clean house that has very modern decor throughout.

  • Beautiful spot! Was the perfect location for us to get ready at for our wedding! Thank you soooo much

    Jenna2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the River Retreat for 3 nights for my birthday and absolutely fell in love with the place! The house is amazing and the view out of the front window down to the river is fantastic, especially when we opened the huge sliding doors! The air conditioning in the downstairs bedrooms was lovely on such a hot weekend, and once we’d opened up the skylight in the upstairs little bedroom it soon cooled by late evening. The house was spotless and Dan & Sam were easy to communicate with. It’s in a great location for getting around. We visited the Zealong Tea Plantation, Lake Karapiro (Lake District Adventures kayak/bike hire & tours) and Lavender Backyard Garden to pick Lavender and Blueberries! The little cafe up the road (The Hopin Stopin Cafe) does great coffee and we popped in every morning on our way out to grab a takeaway! We ran out of time so didn’t get a chance to toast marshmallows on the fire pit but I think we’ll definitely be looking for an excuse to book again in the future so maybe next time!!

  • We loved Daniel’s home. It is so stylish and clean. We didn’t want to leave the house during our stay. Every window you look out, there is a beautiful view. We loved reading books, tucked up with a cuppa in the sun. It was a perfect start to our holiday. Thank you for your quick responses and for leaving some toys etc out for our little girl :) we would love to stay again!

  • This is a hidden gem if you are after a business retreat or simply a place to relax. The house is spacious enough with 5 bedrooms and a living room that makes it so much better than using a meeting room in town. With 12 in our team we were able to use the lounge for planning and discussion and then break away outdoors to use the fully covered tables or simply walk to the river. The kitchen was spacious enough that we were able to get a chef in to prepare dinner and our team could get involved or simply relax outside with a drink. The host was ultra fast in responding and took care of our every need. The 5 in the team who came from out of town and stayed onsite for the night loved the spa pool and relaxing beauty of the location. Only 10 minutes from Hamilton and a short drive to Auckland we plan on using this as a regular venue. We did note the poor review just before we arrived and this did of course raise an alarm as you would expect. However meeting the owner and seeing his response removed any hesitation we had. If you treat the house as you would your own then you are in for an amazing stay. Handy things to know - The kitchen is fully equipped so not just the basics , plenty of car parking, tv is connected to wifi, plenty of room in the lounge to bring your own projector/portable screen for presentations, fast wifi, great surround sound, big fridge, 2 covered outdoor areas, bbq. Inside table seating for 8, outside covered seating for 10 on one table, 10 on the other table and then 10 on the other outdoor area on the other side of the house. Enjoy.

  • It is a lovely spacious place with a massive front lawn - so if you are there in a group - there is plenty of room for cricket, or other outdoor games! Great outdoor dining area also - plenty of room for large groups. There are a few miggies/mosquitos so don't forget your spray!

Wonderful breakfast items, shades for the windows so you can sleep in if needed, long mirror for dressing, washer and dryer, warmer for towels, comfortable beds and emaculate home inside and out. Our only regret is that we didn't have longer to stay. We would love to stay there again someday.

This three bedroom house looks out onto a rural outlook, in spring you will see daffodils. The home has one bathroom, shower is over bath and 1 toilet. There is a beautiful country oak kitchen and neutral furnishings. The 3 Bedrooms are configured with 2 queen beds and 2 single beds. Spacious laundry with washing machine. There are decks all round. Apologies for the limited photos, the bedrooms and lounge are not yet set up as we don't have access to the house right now, will post more ASAP.
Please note that the land surrounding the house is leased, as is the shed in the back corner of the section. Please don't be alarmed if you see people coming to tend to the daffodils or the fig orchard down the back (in autumn you are welcome to wander down and pick figs yourself). We also have a gardener that will come and go to tend to the garden and lawns, but won't disturb you.
Gordonton is an idyllic rural community. We are 1 minute drive from Willow Glen cafe, 3 minutes drive from the firepot cafe and Gordonton takeaways, there is also a farm shop here. The house is 4 minutes drive from Woodlands Estate homestead gardens and cafe. And 7 minutes drive from Rototuna New World supermarket and shopping centre.

Relax and enjoy a true kiwi experience at our lovingly restored Shearer’s Quarters. Te Akatea Station is a family farm nestled amongst the rolling hills and lush green landscape of the Waikato. This self-contained property offers the perfect blend of historic preservation and modern convenience and comforts. Beyond the immediate garden are grassy paddocks, home to our cattle and sheep. Sit back and relax with a cuppa/cold beer as you soak in the views from the deck.
The shearer’s quarters is a self-contained property with a well-equipped kitchen and spacious lounge and dining area. The deck offers comfy seating and a BBQ to enjoy the surroundings. There is a generous sized bathroom which features three showers and a washing machine. The quarters are perfect for all, from couples seeking a romantic getaway to families and groups looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Whether you want to curl up with a book and soak in the views from the deck or nestle up in front of the crackling fire – there is something for everyone. The property features 1 queen bedroom and 1 single bedroom with direct access to the kitchen and lounge areas, this makes up the main area of the property. There is also 1 twin room and 1 room with a double bunk which are accessed via the deck. The additional twin room and double bunk room are available at an additional cost. In total the property can sleep up to 8 people. There is an enclosed parking area with space for 2 vehicles adjacent to the property. Additional parking space is available nearby but is not enclosed. Mobile coverage can be unreliable on the farm and surrounding areas. Complimentary wifi is available at the property. Basic breakfast items (tea, coffee, milk, cereal etc.) will also be provided.
Here on the farm we are remote enough to feel like a world away yet conveniently close to the city of Hamilton in the SE and the beaches of Raglan to the West. Ngaruawahia is the nearest town and is only 12km away. There are a number of popular walks around the area including the Hakarimata summit track.
  • We spent two weeks at the wonderful Shearer's Quarters. We were looking for a quiet location after a lot of travelling and found just that at Te Akatea Station. Our stay could not have been better, the house has everything we needed (it's really nice and cozy!) and the hospitality of Sherice and Daniel was amazing. We also enjoyed to see the farm animals (sheep, cattle, horses, dogs, etc.) every day. We can really recommend this place and would definitely come back!

  • The cottage was amazing. There is plenty of room, we had 4 adults and 2 toddlers and we did not feel like we were walking all over each other. This is the best equipped Airbnb I've ever stayed at. The place is immaculate! You cannot beat the friendliness of the family and the overall relaxing laid back feeling of the farm. We enjoyed the farm so much, we extended our stay by 3 days.

  • We loved having this little farmhouse to ourselves for the week! It was super cute, comfortable and in a beautiful location. Sherice and her husband were very helpful as well.

  • Incredible get away, tucked away in the hills and farmland of the Waikato. Such an amazing weekend away, hospitality was outstanding, such a nice way to relax for a few days and let the shoulders down :) Zero issues with the stay and every expectation was exceeded!!!

  • Sherice and Daniel were excellent hosts from start to finish! They provided terrific support and directions prior to our arrival, and were very thoughtful and welcoming throughout our visit. Their beautiful, bright, comfortable home was the perfect place for us to rest and relax on our New Zealand adventure. We were a convenient distance from activities at Turangawaewae Marae, Waikato Museum, Raglan and Hobbiton - and we loved returning to the Shearers’ Quarters afterwards for some gorgeous sunsets! There was plenty of space for kids to play and explore. We all enjoyed seeing Daniel work with the sheep, cattle and dogs. Our visits with the sweet dogs and puppies added to the magic of our stay. And the beauty of the surrounding landscape was even more breathtaking with the chorus of birdsongs each day.

  • Sherice's place is a gem - definitely a fairly hidden one (we arrived in the dark!) but as others have said 'trust your GPS' and you will arrive to a wonderful spot. The setting is stunning and the house is so comfortable and easy to relax in. Go and enjoy!

  • My family thoroughly enjoyed their stay. We started with 6 travellers, which changed to 7 before we left home, and then changed again to 8 after my son decided to join us for the night. The facilities were perfect. The little personal homely touches, did not go amiss. From the thick bath towels, to the panel heaters in all the rooms. The woodburner, (which we used), the huge dining table, kiwiana art in the main bedroom, comfy as beds and bedding. The well resourced cupboards and pantry, fresh home grown figs and fejoias. The Shearers Quarters has 3 showers, which is just what we needed! And my daughter's eyes lit up when she spotted the piano. This place truly does have everything you need, to meet everyone's tastes and provides all the creature comforts to feel right at home. To top it off we got to meet Sherice and Daniel before we left, with some of their dogs. They are wonderful hosts, and I know you are going to love your stay. Just one thing...trust your GPS lol. This venue is tucked away in a truly rural environment, and getting there is quite the adventure :) Thanks again Sherice. You should be very proud of how you have utilized your Shearers Quarters. All the best with your future AirBnB travellers.
