  • An absolutely charming space. Clean, cozy and the hot tub was perfect 👌

    Jason2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing. Great host, great location, great space, everything was perfect. The hot tub is nice in the cold weather and the loft bed is surprisingly comfortable. The washer and dryer were super convenient and we were provided with laundry detergent which was super nice. The kitchen has the full set up as well as all the usual utensils and cookware which was very nice as well. If you’re looking to stay in Maine definitely stay here. This place is a 10/10 🤙🏻

    Marley2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This location is awesome for many reasons. It is cozy, private, has a hot tub, and it conveniently close to downtown. Couldn’t have ask for a better spot for a quick getaway! Thanks Ren! Looking forward to our next stay.

    Marcus2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable, quiet , & private! Loved the entire place! Hot tub was great , loft was super comfy. Take a 20 minute drive to harpswell and check out the “giant stairs” it’s a must see !!! The Maine state museum is also fairly close & worth the ride to Augusta! Ren was a perfect host 👍🏼 Enjoy!

  • Beautiful location

    David2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, rustic cottage in the woods of Maine. Secluded but not far from the town of Bath or any necessary amenities. If you are looking for a cottage on the water then this is the place.

    Kyle2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • The photo of the location is accurate - it's just lovely. There are houses on either side, hidden by trees, so there is a sense of privacy and spaciousness. The wide, screened in, furnished porch/verandah is marvelous. Be aware that there is only one bathroom in the house.

    Michael2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a classic Maine waterfront cottage. Cozy and rustic with amazing water views. Watching sunsets sitting out on the dock was wonderful and we were out there again each morning with our coffees . The screened in porch was perfect for candlelight dinners and reading in the afternoon. The insides are rustic but very comfortable. The place was spotless with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Shops and restaurants of Bath are just a short drive away as well. Great location. We’re planning on returning later this summer!

    Michael2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect! We stayed here with a large group ages 82 to 8. It might be a little more difficult for guests that have issues with stairs but all in our group were ok with that. The house is so much better in person and a very special place. Surprised to walk in and see a large bowl of peonies! So special. So many places to just hang out. Highly recommended!

    Keirsten2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • It's hard to find a more "Maine" space than this, nestled in the woods, right at ocean's edge. We had planned activities for the family to do, but all everyone wanted to do was spend time at the cottage! This beautiful spot is a treasured survivor from a bygone era of "camps" and summer holidays that lasted months and months. You feel as if you are stepping back in time when you stay here, in the very best of ways. We can't wait to come back again.

    James2019-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • You won't be disappointed by this home! My family and I had a wonderful weekend staying here. It was clean, the rooms were very comfortable, and the views from the bed room and porch were to die for! There's a nice hiking trail just down the road at the Hamilton Audubon Sanctuary. I highly recommend it.

Stay healthy!! We are booked for now, but hope to see you this summer! You're invited to enjoy a tastefully furnished, private apartment among the treetops. Above our quiet home only two blocks from downtown and central in the MidCoast area. Bowdoin College is a half mile away, less than a ten minute walk. The BR has a memory foam queen mattress, a small full bath and a well equipped kitchen. Built in 1960, the unit is relaxing, well appointed, very clean with oak floors.
Nestled up in the tree tops, your apartment looks over a wooded back yard and creek. It's an older house (though not by Maine standards) so there are some quirks and is a bit vintage by default. Although just two blocks from downtown Brunswick, you will feel like you have escaped the hustle and bustle of staying in town. Start your morning at the small seating area on the porch among the singing birds.
Our residential neighborhood is quiet and friendly. You will often see neighbors out and people walking to and from town. We have some of the oldest houses in Brunswick and you can still see the stars at night!
  • Our stay at Judi’s was wonderful! The space was so comfortable and thoughtfully decorated, it really felt like home. This second floor space felt very private and had a lot of natural light with windows overlooking a field. The space was very clean, had easy parking, and was very convenient to downtown Brunswick while being in quiet neighborhood area. The kitchen area was stocked with coffee and tea and had any flatware, dishes, glasses, and utensils that you might need. Judi was very friendly and communicative. I highly recommend a stay here!

    Cara2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Judi is a fantastic host! She was very responsive and helpful. Her place is very clean and neat, just what we were looking for. The bed linens and towels are extra soft and comfortable. Judi was extremely hospitable and catered to our specific needs. We will definitely stay here again.

    Sharon2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Judi's place is another level. Two different roasts of coffee to choose from, kitchen staples, toiletries aplenty, very comfortable bed/bedding, awesome eclectic decor, perfect location, books to browse, and of course Judi herself-Lovely!!!

    Emily2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, cozy, clean and walking distance to downtown Brunswick.

    Carol2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Judi’s place was absolutely perfect for my business visit to the college nearby! The apartment is super clean, very close to town, and the bed is so comfy! I’d stay there again if I head to Brunswick in the future.

    Janna2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Judi was a great host and the apartment is conveniently located within a few blocks of the downtown where there are many nice shops and restaurants. The living room sofa is large and very comfy as is the bed. The apartment is spotless in a quiet street and has all you may need for your stay. Judi is very responsive and was there to greet me and make sure lights outside were on and I had no questions.

    Maria2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Judi's apartment was very easy to locate and check-in was a breeze. Judi was very gracious and kept in communication throughout our trip. A wonderful getaway!

Sweet waterfront cottage on the New Meadows River with long views down the beautiful tidal river way. Watch the eagles, ducks, and fishing boats from bed or any other room in the cottage. Walk the woodland paths, sun on the rocks, or spend the day in an Adirondack chair with a book. This is the perfect retreat for anyone who enjoys the comforts of home with outdoor adventures right at your doorstep. Feel remote yet with quick access to all of Brunswick: shopping, dining, and Bowdoin College.
This lovely classic Maine cottage has all the amenities of home. Beautifully decorated with comfy furniture, artwork, colorful linens and a fully outfitted kitchen. Dine indoors or al fresco in your own private waterfront lawn. Water access is provided in several places via a brief stroll along the private woodland paths to stairs leading down to the rocks. We will point you in the right direction so you can explore on your own. The retro kitchen is fully outfitted with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, tea kettle and coffee maker, cooking utensils and lovely dishes and linens to set your table. Plus a clock radio/docking station combo. The living area has plenty of seating and extra chairs with a dining area beneath the picture window. A working fireplace is available in colder weather. Bedrooms include a queen sized bed and a pair of twin beds and a Pack’n Play if needed. There is plenty of storage throughout in multiple closets and bureaus. Full bath includes a shower/tub combination and a nearby closet stocked with linens to store all your personal items. Plus there are plenty of books, games and wifi for streaming music or movies thru your own devices. Fans are available to assist this breezy location on warm days. Parking is provided nearby with a sloping path down to the cottage door (approx 250' away) which is well lit at night but does have some roots and ruts to navigate. A cart is available to help transport your belongings and we are happy to assist if we know your arrival time. The cottage is easily accessible with 1-3 steps at either door. The property is walkable with gentle slopes, again with occasional roots or ruts.
We respect the privacy of our neighbors and request our guests walk the paths within our property only. A diagram of accessible areas will be provided upon arrival. Thomas Point Beach is a short paddle or drive from our property. The long private road leads to our property and a parking area is nearby where you may leave your vehicle for the duration of your stay. If you'd like to explore a little further from home there are public waterfront areas nearby such as Thomas Point Beach (8 minutes) and Popham Beach (30 minutes) down the road.
  • A very quiet but beautiful cottage getaway in Maine.

    Chirakkal2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning views of the water and rocky coastline! Peaceful cottage nestled in the woods, but close to amenities in town of Brunswick. You must be able to walk down a mildly steep pathway to get back and forth to your car. The cottage isn’t heated, but space heaters and warm bedding are provided. Coffee pot and wonderful Maine coffee, and Poland spring water were pleasant and welcome surprises.

    Cheryl2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! The cottage is awesome. Such a great location and view. Lisa is the best host we have had the pleasure to deal with, outstanding!

    Anthony2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in a great location and just wonderful. Don't expect to go swimming but certainly kayaking is an option. If you want to just unwind with no TV or internet (at least we couldn't get it to work), then you are in luck! The most unexpected touch was all the breakfast goodies left for us, and the kitchen is well stocked. Loved sitting out in the adirondack chairs and just watching activity on the water - last morning there saw the crew practice from Bowdoin College. Don't miss walking out to the point (we almost did)..we wished we had done it sooner as it would be a great place to bring your coffee and maybe even watch the sunrise? So much to do in the area and enjoyed talking with Jeff though we never did get to see Lisa but must admit we were in and out a lot..

    Laurie2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We can’t say enough about our stay at this cabin! The location was perfect, the cabin was perfect... the view was perfect. We really enjoyed our time there and Brunswick!

    Dana2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is retro in a clean modern way with artistic touches, clean cotton linens including the tablecloth, comfy beds, clean throughout including windows with views all around. My husband and I stayed with another couple that we know very well, so the shared bath and small living area was just fine. The picnic table and paths to the rocky point kept us outside enjoying the Maine coast most of the time. We cooked our own meals in the pleasant efficient small kitchen. We woke to sunrise on the tidal river and heard the crew team go by. Lisa is lovely, calm and friendly and allowed us privacy. We travelled into Brunswick to Bowdoin College museums on a rainy day, but bikes and kayaked nearby on the sunny days. We all could have spent much more time here.

    Susan2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa’s cottage was great for our family (two adults and a five year old boy). She took special care to make it a great getaway for him - plenty of beach toys, blocks for the house, and even bumpers on the bed. The view from the bedroom is a great thing to wake up to. The location is excellent - we spent hours down on the rocks looking out at the water, watching boats come and go and eagles and ospreys soar overhead. Surrounded by great lobster pounds and beaches, this was a great getaway for the end of summer. Most of all, the cottage was sparkling clean and communication with Lisa was always excellent. We loved our time here and can’t wait to return. Thank you!

    Matthew2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The view and setting are spectacular, and the cottage couldn't possibly be more charming. It's a stone's throw from the water, majestic birds swooping around, sparkling wavelets on a sunny day, just a magical place, including the point reached through the woods path (but do wear bug spray if you go there!) We'd visit again in a heartbeat....Also, we got a warm welcome even though we arrived after 9, and Lisa was truly heroic in saving my daughter from an emergency wardrobe malfunction right before an interview -- so deeply appreciated....

We are 10 minutes from downtown Bath with its great restaurants, local art & culture, including the exceptional Maritime Museum. 23 minutes from our door are the beaches of Popham State Park. We are 2 miles from the town public boat launch into the tidal waters of the New Meadows River and out to sea. In nearby Georgetown are the beaches of Reid State Park. You will love our quiet country setting, the privacy of your cozy room, the extensive cottage gardens, and pine forest we enjoy.
Your room on the second floor is quite private and secluded from the rest of the house. It has a unique, cozy, built-in double bed as well as built in drawers, a small refrigerator, electric teakettle, and an adjacent private bath, with shower-tub stall. The house was originally built in Bath on the Kennebec River and moved to this location. We suspect it was built by a shipbuilder, as the spaces are ship like tight. The stairs to the room are narrow and steep like in a ship or an old colonial house. European guests have commented that the space is reminiscent of European houses.
  • If you want peace and quiet this is your place. There are no frills but Maryanna and Peter were wonderful hosts and there home is in a beautiful area only around 10 minutes from Bath. Good value. Highly recommended!

    Sandra2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is cozy, and the private room and bathroom are up their own staircase (although there is another room, adjacent to the bedroom, that the host still uses while there are guests). It is convenient to the coast and to the nearby towns of Bath and Brunswick. The hosts were thoughtful about arranging their schedule so they would be there when we arrived and when we checked out.

    Kate2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fine people, good place

    Andrea2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Maryanna and Peter are great hosts and gave us good suggestions on places to go around Bath. The room we stayed in is very quaint, clean and relaxing.

    Meghan2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Once again we had a great stay in Maryanna’s very comfortable space.

    Lee2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Maryanne and Peter are very friendly hosts. The room was clean and offered you enough privacy as it was on the second floor. I can recommend staying here.

    Henrik2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a cozy home about a 10 or so minute drive from downtown Bath. Both the owners were lovely people. The accommodations themselves were a decent size bedroom and bathroom on the second floor, where everything was clean and tidy on arrival, and came with a convenient coffee/tea setup in room. All in all, my wife and I really enjoyed our stay and our hosts. Definitely recommend.

    John2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a sweet spot. The location feels relaxing but still close to everything. Maryanna and her husband were so warm and kind, and the whole place had such charm. The house is close to downtown Bath and many beaches and parks. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience the unique and special vibe of Maine!

Charming seasonal waterfront cottage boasting awe inspiring views of Buttermilk Cove. Interior is tastefully decorated with granite countertops, stainless steal appliances, wood floors, a gas fireplace and many attractive touches including a spiral staircase. Lounge dockside or venture to the rooftop deck where you are completely private from your neighbors. Close to Bowdoin College, Maine State Music Theater, Freeport and 25 minutes to Portland.
  • Beautiful location and view with many thoughtful touches, supplies, and homey feel.

  • This was a nice place with a great view. The fireplace is very cozy. It was easy to visit Portland, Freeport, and Brunswick.

    Heather2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay. Snowed our last night there, and lost satellite connection, but other than that, no complaints! Super cozy.

    Renee2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is well-decorated and very comfortable and cozy. Staying there in the winter was amazing because the fireplace is very effective at heating the place; the temperature is very easy to set to whatever you desire (including quite warm, if that's what you want). The furnishings and decorations were very nice, and the kitchen has a large counter with modern appliances and all the pots, pans, and utensils you need to cook. We enjoyed watching ice float down the inlet as the tides went in and out. There is no WiFi in the cottage (as described in the listing). AT&T had decent cell coverage but T-mobile was very slow. The place was also extremely well-stocked with towels, blankets, and linens. There was ample hot water for the shower.

    Alex2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the cottage. Gorgeous views from the house. It snowed while we were there and they had someone plow the driveway which was great since we only had 2 wheel drive cars. The fireplace was very nice as well!

    Kerri2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • A great little get away spot, close drive to town and local attractions. Beautiful view of the river. Close to street, but easily able to cancel out traffic sounds with music, white noise machine options. Very clean and nice layout to just relax. Loved the fireplace - kept us toasty on cold days.

    Tess2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • It is a beautiful spot on the water.

    Sorcha2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay this past weekend. We saw the bald eagle mentioned in previous reviews and were even able to take a closer look with the provided binoculars! The tv is HDMI compatible and we hooked up our IPad and binged Netflix in front of the fire for hours. The store/restaurant is just a few yards to the left which is very convenient. The street can be noisy at night, so I’d recommend a fan or white noise machine for light sleepers like myself. Overall, we had a great stay and would love to come back in warmer months too!

Charming cottage on a beautiful island near marina, beaches, restaurants, and hiking trails. Wonderful mid-coast Maine location for lots of possibilities for outdoor adventures, antiquing, visiting art galleries and shops, and enjoying delicious cuisine. The cottage has everything you need for a peaceful getaway. Decorated with natural elements and local art pieces to get you in the mood for this beautiful location.
Here is the GuideBook I made for the space. It's under our other listing https://www.airbnb.com/things-to-do/rooms/14293135 Camp Fire available upon request If you need a later check out time, please request it :)
Robinhood neighborhood on Georgetown Island. Quiet road and peaceful, natural setting. Walk down the road to the AMC hut for water views and nice uphill climb on the way back. Less than a mile from the Robinhood Free Meetinghouse which has a variety of events including live music, Sunday brunch, WIFI, morning coffee, and pop-up restaurants. The Anchor Inn (Osprey Restaurant) and Marina are just around the corner as well. Only 10 minutes from Bath, 15 minutes to Reid State Park, and 50 minutes from Portland, makes this a highly desirable location!
  • Marcella's place is perfect for someone who wants a nice quiet stay in the area but not too far from local attractions. It was very clean and very cozy and well stocked with coffee, tea and essentials needed to cook meals. Check in and out was very easy. I highly recommend Marcella's if you are traveling to the area. If you are coming to the Shelter Institute, it is about a 15 minute drive but off Route 1 which is very busy and loud all night long. I know that because I switched to Marcella's place half way through my stay because staying off Route 1 was so loud.

    Greg2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is an absolute work of art, so clearly built by hand with care, and a place that honors Maine and the land and nature of this great state. Marcella and her husband are incredibly kind, communicative, helpful. Their cottage is delightfully rustic yet loaded with all the luxuries. It was a treat to stay here for two nights and it was so convenient to town, nature, ocean. I would highly recommend you book this if it’s available. It’s a perfect spot for a visit to Maine.

    Kelly2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Island Alchemy cottage! It was an adorable place, and it was clean and had everything we needed. It's in a quiet, woodsy area while still being close to Bath; it was a great location for the things we wanted to visit in the mid-coast area. The state park pass was a wonderful extra (and the state parks nearby are very worth going to)! We would love to stay here again if we came back to the area.

    Nathan & Diane2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Alchemy Cottage was charming, comfortable, and clean. It was perfectly situated for our visits to gorgeous Reid State Park and fascinating Boothbay Harbor, with plenty of good seafood nearby. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

  • If peace and quiet is what you want, Alchemy Cottage is the spot! Unlimited wireless was a bonus since TV was pleasantly absent.

  • This place is amazing! Well worth the price of admission , Marcella is super quick on responses which is great and the place itself is super cute. My girlfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend for my birthday and it was so quiet and peaceful and serene. The included park pass is a nice touch and I love the faucet in the bathroom! Will definitely stay here again!

    Chris2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Expect to stay at a clean, tidy and very cozy place. The cottage is an experience in and of itself. It is very thoughtfully decorated and laid out. And Marcella is a lovely, considerate host. The area has lots of things to see. Mostly nature and state parks. There's a great beach and cute little fisherman's villages nearby. Then there's Bath itself, which is nice to check out. Marcella's got plenty of recommendations for the area and so do the locals.

  • This was our third stay in the cabin. We keep coming back because we just love to unplug and relax out there. As always, Holly answered all of our questions quickly, met us at the parking lot and made sure we had what we needed for our stay. It's truly a unique spot that is always worth the drive out for us.

    Patrick2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a special location. We will be back when possible!

    David2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely extended weekend at the cabin. Very remote and private, yet surrounded by a great community and easy to access the mainland if needed. Cabin was very clean and well supplied. Holly was very helpful and communicative with any type of question. We hope to return sometime next summer!

    Amy2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, a truly unique experience and great way to escape the city for a couple days and disconnected. Holly and her husband where great at communication and the cabin was as described with a location that was just fabulous.

  • After decompressing from our busy schedules, we quickly settled in to the charm and ease of coastal Maine island life. We realized during the very first adventure of paddling to the camp that we had made the right decision. It’s a truly unique experience that will be tough to beat. The view, deck, dock, walking path and kayaks make for a very relaxing and memorable trip. Holly is so helpful and responsive, if you have any questions she’ll get back to you in a flash. We can’t wait to go back!

  • Wonderful getaway from noise. Beautiful off the grid location. Holly is an excellent host and is flexible.

    Luis2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • My son and I had such a great time at your island home! Only wish it could have been longer. With a canoe, kayaks, and trails, there was more than enough adventuring to be had for a few days. Highly recommend giving this a try!

    Jonathan2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Holly was an excellent communicator and provided everything we could possibly need. Our stay was beyond anything we could have dreamed of and we will definitely be returning! This is a perfect place for those who respect nature and simple living. Thank you Holly for sharing your slice of nature!

  • This place is 1 in a million. So peaceful and beautiful. Lorraine has two kayaks available to use, and a fishing pole, she provides coffee and drinking water and there is a coffee pot, grill, grilling utensils, paper plates, plastic cutlery, etc. If you are staying on a fall night, pack some extra blankets as it does get quite chilly at night. This cabin will make you feel right at home, it is so cozy, cute and simple. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! The ocean views are breathtaking and if you sit long enough you might see an eagle or a sea lion!

    Brittany2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lorraine's place was perfect for us. We spent a lot of time outdoors soaking in all the awesome views. The cabin had everything we needed and we would highly recommend!

    Hanna2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin location is perfect! Great water access, it is a simple summer cabin so don't expect a luxurious experience but that is exactly what makes it a magical, peaceful place to hide away from the busy summer crowds! Lorraine is very clear of what you should expect and we were completely happy with the cabin and its amenities.

    Jake2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my time at the cabin — it’s so secluded and beautiful. I wish I could have stayed longer. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need to cook. The views are beyond spectacular. It’s a great place to recharge and reconnect with nature.

    Kayla2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place is exactly as described, beautiful rustic cabin on the water. The view doesn’t get better than this and it feels like you have the whole bay to yourself.

    Victoria2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This location made for a fantastic getaway. The one room cottage was a perfect setup to just relax and enjoy nature for an evening. The kayaks were an awesome touch as well

Stay in this blissful spot near Bowdoin. Watch the sunset, use my kayak, go for a swim, drive to nearby Popham Beach or relax on the deck. The apartment includes two bedrooms (queen and double), kitchenette, full bath, wifi, use of deck and grill.
This house is located on Back Cove in West Bath. The property faces west allowing for incredible nightly sunsets. The space for rent is the bottom floor within my house. It has a separate entrance, 2 water view bedrooms, a large living room, kitchenette, full bath and outside area. The apartment will comfortably fit 4 people, but additional people are possible.
Back cove is a rural neighborhood with both summer and year round homes. My house house is located right on the water with a convenient staircase to get to the waters edge. I am near idyllic walking areas such as the Hamilton Audobon Sanctuary and Merritt Island (part of Maine Island Trails). There are superb beaches within 25 minutes drive (Popham Beach, Head Beach, Reid State Park). Or, this location is a short drive from the quaint downtown areas of both Bath and Brunswick and the outlet shopping mecca in Freeport. There are many local eateries ranging from wharfside seafood take out to Asian Fusion that will satisfy both foodies and scavengers alike.
  • We had an amazing long weekend at Susan and Katrina’s place! The pictures on Airbnb don’t do justice to the stunning view and tranquility. Our dog Molly had a fun time romping with Sudan’s dog Buddy. We were there three nights and fit in day trips to Portland and Popham Beach. Lots of wonderful hikes in the area. We’d love to return!

  • Apartment as described. Absolutely fabulous location and views. Enjoyed seeing the bald eagles from the house.

  • A beautiful place with amazing sunset views! We loved seeing the stars at night on the dock and the breathtaking views. Loved the special touches throughout the apartment- watercolor prints, charming inlaid tiles and more!

  • Katrina's place will take your breath away. Beautiful views from every window, eagles living in the trees right above the house flying over head, lovely private dock down the hillside with kayaks provided. Feels very private even though it's the bottom floor of her house. We also took Katrina up on her offer to cook up some lobster and it was delicious! She went above and beyond to accommodate us and my brothers family when they visited us (including lending me her yoga mat) and had great tips for things to do. Highly recommend her place.

Set in classic coastal Maine village w/ Reid State Park beaches and famed Five Islands Lobster Co. We invite you to this custom built tree dwelling. This abode is called "Madawaska", which means "where two rivers join". Part tree house, part tiny house, the dwelling consists of two elevated structures connected by a private deck (on posts with trees growing up through) and WOOD FIRED CEDAR HOT TUB. Structures are accessed by a SPIRAL STAIRCASE. We've used vintage and salvaged materials when possible. Both structures have views across a river bay, and down river to where the Back River meets the Kennebec River (hence "Madawaska") just before both flow into open ocean, past Seguin Island (where George Washington commissioned a lighthouse). PLEASE NOTE: as much as we love pets we have a strict no-pet policy in our dwellings! AUTUMN VISITS: Come stay in the tree dwelling in Autumn for stunning views of foliage and crisp walks along the marsh back to the tree dwelling to warm up in the cedar hot tub. The dwelling is well insulated and warms up quickly with our top quality wall mounted heating units. Five Islands Farm and Gourmet Market is an excellent source of fine wine, beers, local produce, meats, cheeses, gifts. We are a ten minute drive from the town of Bath Maine, which has a great coffee shop (Cafe Creme), bookstore (the Mustard Seed), deli (the Living Edge), grocery store (Bracket's Market), health food store (Bath Natural Market), great yoga studio (Ebb and Flow), BBQ (Beale St. BBQ), fine dining (Salt Pine Social), Maine Maritime Museum, and locally famous Reny's! We are 30 minutes from Freeport, for original L.L. Bean store and outlets. We are 45 minutes from Portland, with its exploding, world-class restaurant/foodie scene.
  • After seeing the tree dwellings online I knew I just had to stay there. The view certainly did not disappoint. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle and just relax in the trees. The first night it rained all night and the sound of the rain hitting the roof was perfect. I slept like a baby. If you are looking for a place to stay look no further and make sure to book if you see an opening. Communication was a breeze and responses for always quick. Will definitely stay again if In the area.

  • We stayed for three nights in this amazing tree dwelling! Perfect views, super comfortable bed and everything we needed to make our first stay in Maine the best! Thank you for having us Marsha! I am very sure that we will be back!

    Claire2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was truly a pleasure celebrating our October anniversary perched up among the trees in this cozy Marsha’s cozy tree house. We enjoyed the floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom overlooking, forest, salt marsh and water. It felt very private and we even left our curtains open bathed in the full moonlight. We appreciated that the kitchen and bathroom were in a separate space from the bedroom (bring slippers). The petite kitchen has a hot plate and dining table if you want to eat in. To my husbands relief, we found a coffee maker! The water was nice and hot and good pressure. The owners chose Tea Tree Oil shampoo and conditioner and. Dr. Bronner’s body wash for the shower…perfect for the tree house. We also noted a hair dryer under the sink. One of our favorite things about the tree house was the screened in porch where we had coffee in the morning and late night talks in the evening overlooking the forest. We sat with candlelight in the Adirondack chairs listening to only the sounds of nature. Marsha was kind enough to leave a pass for Reid State Park and we enjoyed walking the beach and paths and climbing the rocks. We spent time in Bath exploring the books stores and coffee shop and restaurants. Per Marsha’s suggestion, we made our way to Waldoboro to visit the Morse's Sour Kraut Market & Deli which was amazing. Overall, We had a wonderful stay at the Madawaska Tree House and we appreciated all the design details. Thanks to Marsha for a great stay.

  • A sweet, sweet cabin with sweeping views. Fancy? No. Lovely? Yes. A simple place--living in the woods. Just wonderful.

    Arnie2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our second time this year! We love the setting and the area. Discovered some more hiking nearby and enjoyed time in Bath, Brunswick and Wiscasset. Can’t recommend this enough even if it means more competition for bookings!

    Pierre2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great getaway from my husband and I! Everything was wonderful and the tree house is great! Far enough away from things so you can enjoy the quietness, but can easily drive into town for a bite to eat. Just a suggestion for people who do stay here, is the bathroom is not in the same building as the bedroom so in the middle of the night, you have to leave the bedroom and go outside and go into the other building for the bathroom. So just make sure you have slippers or something to be able to walk in the middle of the night. But we will definitely be back!

Chill on the porch after exploring a scenic local walking trail and soak up the serenity of this breezy blue and white hideaway. Striped oars, starfish, smooth shells, and ocean scenes blend with shades of teal and aqua for a thoroughly calm space.
    The entire space. It’s private
The property is close to Portland, Brunswick, Lewiston, and Augusta. There are beaches and scenic trails nearby, as well as Route 1, which hugs the ocean. The White Mountains are also within easy reach for adventurers.

  • Marcia’s place was spotless & the pictures accurately depicted the space. Marcia greeted us upon arrival and was very welcoming. Nice touches included a welcome board with our name on it, basket of oatmeal & snack bars, local area guides/restaurant menus, and large selection of coffee K cups & teas. The location worked out well for us 50+ minutes to gardens aglow & ~36 mins to Portland.

    Betty2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cute and quiet place centrally located! Worked out perfectly for our needs. Marcia communicated quickly with check-in procedures.

    Tammy2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Despite its previous excellent reviews, we were delighted to discover that Marcia’s place exceeded expectations. She was highly responsive from the moment of my first inquiry, and made it a point to welcome us personally. We had every single thing we might have wanted or needed — and more. We also appreciated coffee and other basics for the kitchen, special (and well-marked) touches such as extra pillows and quilts, and an incredible bathroom set-up (best ever in any airbnb in which we’ve stayed!). While still at Marcia’s, we hoped to book a return, but the optimal dates in summer were already gone.... We will try again, and in the meantime grazie mille.

    Marie2019-12-15T00:00:00Z

  • We absolutely loved our stay at this place! It immediately felt like home, and the little details did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, granola bars, and oatmeal. Very thoughtful items to include in the kitchen. A very clean atmosphere, spotless. The mattress was unbelievably comfortable, and the neighborhood was so quiet that we were able to sleep through the night for once (both nights of our stay!). Before staying here, I had no idea how disappointing my own water heater was. The shower stays nice and warm and heats up quickly. For a chilly November stay, me and my joints were pleasantly surprised by how warm it stayed inside! Thank you so much for our stay, I recommend this to anyone looking for accommodations in the area!

  • This cottage was a perfect home base for our family and we made memories to last a lifetime. Everything we needed was there and we had two fires outside and one inside, as well as lobsters delivered right to us. There was a note on the fridge with a number to call for them. We loved all the books and games, and especially enjoyed the ocean view from the front bedroom and the screened in front porch.

  • We had such a great time! The home was so cute! The kids loved the dock and the low tide. Plenty of room and great fire pit! This place is a nest in heaven! We love maine and it’s nestled back in west bath away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close enough to sebasco lodge for pin bowling, game night, kids night, ice cream, laundry, and so much more! Also close enough to the center store for all your needs. The hosts were on top of everything and responded to all our needs! I would love to stay at their home again! It was great! Thanks so much for a great vacation! We LOVED it!!!❤️❤️❤️

  • When I started looking for a place to rent outside Bath I was imagining a friend's cottage from my youth. This camp was just the nostalgic location I was looking for as the home base for our trip. The front porch is great, I suggest taking advantage of it as much as possible. It was cozy, comfortable, and clean. Close to town and Popham Beach.... And Witch Spring Hill Ice Cream! Check in and check out were very easy. Camp was rustic and traditional and offered everything you needed for a true Maine outing. Would rent again! Sipping coffee on the porch in the mornings or playing cards and chatting at night was my favorite part of the camp. Bald Eagles in view several times!

    Stephen2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place was perfect for my family to spend time together! It had everything we needed, and this we didn't even know we needed until the time came. It was more than easy to sit down and relax, and the views were great. Everyone thought their rooms were comfortable, and we loved scouting through all the neat things in the living room; the old games, art, books, etc. The yard had the perfect amount of room for the whole family to spend quality time with one another, yet able to do their own thing. Karen is very welcoming and helpful- will book again for sure!

  • Great place. Beautiful location, convenient to Bath and Brunswick. It is a charming cabin and had everything we needed. One downside, as other reviewers have noted, is that the water has a strong smell/taste of iron and sulphur. There's a Brita filter attached to the kitchen sink and we had spring water from the store, so not a big problem, but a little unpleasant. It wouldn't keep us from staying there again.

  • It was absolutely beautiful!

    Katie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is very quiet and very clean! We LOVED our stay here and enjoyed the R&R, serene views of the water, and the features within this house. I would definitely recommend for a little coastal getaway!

  • My family has had a house in Cundy’s harbor for a long time, but my parents recently had to sell it. We booked this beautiful cottage for a long weekend and the views are absolutely amazing! The inside is so charming and had such beautiful touches. I loved sitting at the picnic table and staring at the ocean. We loved it so much we booked another weekend while we were still there!

    Katie2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay - the house was very clean and had great natural light & proximity to the water. The closest beach we went to everyday was an easy 10 min drive up the road. The one negative, as others have commented, is that the water has a definite sulphuric smell. All in all though, we had a great time and would come back!

    Nicole2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The house is set very near the water. The direct natural light streams in during the morning. The whole downstairs is natural wood. The upstairs is painted white, which is a beautiful contrast that you must experience. This is a very authentic place. The house is incredibly peaceful. We loved using the wood stove! We would love to come back.

    Preston Scott2018-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at this home! It was sweet and charming and we definitely recommend it to others. The scenery was beautiful, the house was perfect, clean and cozy. The only thing that we didn’t love was that the water had a sulfuric smell, which may be a non-issue for most, but we just weren’t used to it. Even with that, we loved our stay and could see ourselves coming back someday. The management was always quick to respond and was very helpful.

    Alison2018-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • The location is excellent and the house is super cute. Our party of five had a wonderful long weekend. We enjoyed the well-stocked kitchen and the wood stove. Fantastic stay!

Unwind at a classic Maine cottage in Georgetown just 1.5 miles from the beach at Reid State Park and near all the beauty and activities of Midcoast Maine. The cottage sleeps 4 with 2 queen bedrooms, with an additional single, and 1.5 baths. Whether you like beaches, history, dining, hiking, kayaking, fishing or just beautiful places, you will find too much to do in only one week. Rented by the week from Sunday noon to Saturday noon. Possible to start Saturday evening some weeks. Please ask.
Nestled in the woods, the newly refurbished cottage sleeps 4 with a combination of two queen bedrooms and an additional single bed on the upstairs landing to allow flexibility. Downstairs is a 4-season dining porch, a cottage-sized great room with living room and kitchen, one queen bedroom and a full bath with washer and dryer. Upstairs is the second queen bedroom with en suite powder room and the single bed on the landing. The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary tools - including a lobster pot if you want to steam your own (ask us how to get "boat price" lobster from a local fisherman. Or to-die-for clams to steam...) Georgetown is very beautiful but technologically challenged - which is really just as well since you will be so busy exploring mid-coast Maine. The cottage has WiFi, a TV, DVD player and Roku for free channels but no cable or satellite . The maximum speed available on the Island is 10 mgs which is fine for watching TV and movies. Cell phone coverage at the cottage is spotty but is fine if you go just 1.5 miles north to Five Islands or south to the Georgetown Country Store.
The house is 1.5 miles from the beach at Reid State Park, OR a lobster with a quintessential Maine harbor view at Five Islands, OR the equally classic Georgetown country store. In case you want to drive more than 1.5 miles, Georgetown gives you easy access to mid-coast Maine. It is just a few miles to the historic city of Bath, with dining, shopping and the Maine Maritime Museum (check out their boat tours, by tour boat or on a schooner, for a fun and easy way to get on the water). The next peninsula south from Georgetown has Popham Beach, including a Civil War fort and the site of the 1607 Popham Colony. Or go to the next peninsula north - picturesque Damariscotta and lovely Boothbay with more shopping, scenic views and the Maine Botanical Gardens. On your way visit historic houses in Wiscasset to explore Wiscasset's shipping heyday, brought to a crashing close with the Embargo of the War of 1812. Or maybe the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland to immerse yourself in Andrew Wyeth?
  • A well supplied kitchen, excellent location, a super short drive to a lovely quiet beach, a lovely island and lovely cottage. Elisabeth also left some really helpful and thoughtful tips, was very responsive to any questions, and really helped make our week-long Maine stay superb. Definitely a super host. A big plus: I was there doing some work and was glad to find the wifi reliable and decently speedy.

    Ken2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jack and Elisabeth were very kind and gracious hosts. The cottage is accurate in their description of it and its location. They were tremendously helpful with local attractions and tips for acquiring lobster, as well what restaurants to visit. The cottage was very clean and nicely appointed. Cozy place! Price is very reasonable. We're looking forward to returning soon. Highly recommended.

    Nathan2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location. Very comfortable for a family and close to countless activities and sights. Elisabeth was very helpful and responsive.

    Rob2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at this charming cottage. Elisabeth was very responsive and thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. If you love daily trips to the beach and evening quiet camp fires this is the place to be!

  • Wendy was easy to communicate with and took care of us very well. It was so nice to have a “dish fairy”. The location is close enough for a very pretty walk across the river to down town Brunswick. After all of that walking it was amazing to have a hot tub to soak in. I will recommend this spot to friends!

  • Great space for us and our dog Ruby. Close distance to Maine Street and all it has to offer. We tried three local breweries in Brunswick (all allow dogs!) The space is decorated simply but amazingly all in the same. The extra touches went a long way. We didn’t get a chance to peek into the art studio but I am sure we would have been pleased if we did. Highly recommend!

Nicely furnished room in my private home for rent. View of backyard, fields and woods. Located on the northern edge of town in a quiet neighborhood. Local bus stops at end of street and a B.I.W. bus picks up and drops off M-F in front of my house. Uber is also in the area. We are quiet, respectful, and funny. I have a med. dog, Jack. A double bed, cot, and two baby cribs are available. Room is at back of house at the end of a long hallway, next to bathroom. I'm retired and home most of the time.
The room is located at the back of the house next to the bathroom. Smoking is allowed outside on the deck. We are not a party house. No overnight guests and no pets. There is a double bed in the room with space to set up a cot and/or a baby crib, of which I have two.
I've lived in this neighborhood for 40 years. Neighbors are quiet, respectful, and friendly. There are Ospreys nesting in the woods behind. They are fun to watch on windy days. There is a vegetable garden and flower gardens. There are razberry and strawberry patches that supply plenty of fruit in Summer.
  • Outstanding and very kind host Clean place and very thoughtfully Laid out.

  • Karen is a kind, personable, and wonderful host. She shared her background very openly like a friend you’ve known for years. Her dog, Jack is super friendly and was very quiet while we were there. My partner and I had a wilderness first responder course nearby and needed a place to stay for a couple of nights. The bed was very comfy and we both had a quiet, night sleep. Would have loved to stay another night!

  • We had a wonderful and relaxing time at Heidi’s home. The location was so convenient to many great places in the area yet secluded and so beautiful. We enjoyed several bald eagle sightings and loved the beautiful views of the water. The house itself was special too. We had an amazing time and wished we could have stayed longer.

  • We had a lovely weekend stay in Sabino, West Bath at the Fair Oaks cottage. We had some lovely meals in the dining room and enjoyed watching the wildlife while having coffee on the wrap-around porch. There is everything you could want for a perfect coastal Maine experience - a dock on the water, some islands in view, an outdoor shower, a beautiful forest in the back, and a property with a story. This was a great spot for a getaway enjoyed with close company. Would stay again!

  • Beautiful house with a great view of the water, and a lovely porch with rocking chairs. Great for a weekend away. One of the bedrooms has steep stairs leading to it, but there is a railing for safety! Definitely recommend for value and setting. Well-stocked kitchen, too, including many lobster pots!

  • Quintessentially Maine! Beautiful peaceful location—mornings and evenings on the porch hearing the fish jump and watching the herons (and occasional eagle), roasting marshmallows at the fire pit, teaching grandsons to do knots on the floating dock—priceless! Great house for our family of 7 to explore southern Maine. Comfortable with all the amenities! Lovely place!

    Cathy2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and private. Lots of special touches to make guests feel welcome. The house is at the end of Point so very private. Highly recommend if you are looking for a real Maine Experience with a family or group of friends.

MAKE PLANS NOW for a vacation or “mini vacay” to remember in Harpswell! We are consistently fully booked for the summer and early fall season. Minimum number of nights may vary. Welcome to your home away from home! You’ll want to relax and take your time here - so much to see and do! Just a short drive to sunsets beyond belief!! Maine was recently listed among the top 5 worldwide places to visit in 2020 by Lonely Planet. (October 24, 2019) You will find our guidebook (in the studio) insider tips to be invaluable and they will make your stay so much more enjoyable! No added cleaning fee! Pet-free space! Newly installed efficient ductless heat pump for warmth in the winter months and quiet cooling in the summer months. Turn on the propane woodstove style heater for ambiance. Picture a toasty fire with real flames as you enjoy a glass of wine. No drafty seasonal space - bask in year-round comfort regardless of the weather! Enjoy a nice hot chlorine free shower with well water! (like all families with a well, we still need to be mindful of excessive usage - thank you in advance for your help with this!) And excellent drinking water - no need to buy bottled water! We have room for one or two vehicles maximum. Kindly let us know if you will have more than one vehicle. This is a smoke-free space - no smoking (cigarettes or marijuana) , candles or incense are allowed. Once you are here, you will appreciate how stunning this area is! Our studio is a good value in desirable Harpswell. We are THE BEST-SITUATED AirBnb on the Route 24 side of Harpswell leading down to Orrs and Bailey Island for visiting Bath, Brunswick and Topsham and for getting on the highway to venture further. All of these towns are just a few miles and less than 15 minutes away. Bowdoin College is just 6 miles (12 minutes) away. The studio is located at the back of our house considerably far from the road. We live on a two acre piece of property. We are on a busy road, but this means that we are very accessible to many amazing destinations including small beaches (some you need to know how to reach) and hiking trails within 20 minutes and two state parks with beaches within 35 minutes. Our 488 square foot (45 square meters) studio on one level (slight step up between rooms) features a private entrance, bedroom area, large efficiency kitchenette (see details below) and private shower bath. The surprisingly spacious area is bright and airy with lots of windows, high ceilings, two skylights that open and two ceiling fans. The decor is comfortable and eclectic rather than contemporary. We’ve decorated the studio with original artwork and a few nautical touches. Outside you will have your own personal sun space with seasonal gas grill, table and chairs. Lovely garden and water views from our property! Check out our two small sitting areas across the road with spectacular and expansive views of the New Meadows River! Consider it part of our shared outdoor space - it just happens to be across the road. We have tidal water access. All use of this area is at your own risk. Water shoes or sandals are necessary for swimming and use is dependent upon the daily high tide schedule. You have approximately 1.5 to 2 hours before and after high tide for swimming. The ”efficiency plus” kitchenette area features a refrigerator, separate upright freezer, kitchen sink, microwave, countertop convection oven (with toaster feature), coffee maker, glass electric hot water/tea kettle, single state of the art glass induction cooktop (gets rave reviews - heats up fast!), and an electric skillet. We ask that you make every effort to operate only two high wattage appliances at one time. We provide pots and pans, cooking utensils, silverware, tea, coffee, olive oil, butter, condiments, milk and flavored coffee creamer. REGARDING LOBSTERS (A Harpswell Specialty) : We want our space to be fresh, odor free and welcoming, so we ask our guests to refrain from deep fat frying or indoor steaming of lobsters and clams. Outdoor seasonal cooking of lobster and clams may be available with advance notice. Year round at Gurnet Trading (1 minute up the road) you can order lobsters cooked to order and other seafood and non-seafood meals for eat in or take out. Erica’s (open Mother’s Day Weekend to Columbus Day Weekend) is well worth the 25 minute drive to the other side of Harpswell for freshly prepared seafood - a guest favorite! Steamed lobster at market prices with just a slight upcharge! And in Brunswick, a few more places offer steamed lobsters year-round. The studio has a queen bed with soft cotton sheets in the bedroom area along with a newly added futon couch (double). There’s also a pullout queen size couch in the living room. Regarding the sleeping arrangements - it's your choice as to using EITHER the futon in the bedroom area or the queen sized pullout couch as the second bed option. Please let us know so we can leave linens for the second bed for your arrival. We think the space is perfect for two people or at most three good friends or three family members. Both parts of the studio have cathedral ceilings and ceiling fans. The living area has rough-hewn beams that are original to the house and two skylights. There are privacy drapes separating the sleeping from the living space. The living room area has a 42 in HDTV with DirecTV including HBO. (subject to change) We provide an Amazon FireStick (current apps include NetFlix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu - these are subject to change) and a dvd player (there are some dvds in the studio and many other dvds and cds readily available - just ask). Redbox is at several nearby locations. We offer both wifi and an ethernet "hardwire”. Please note that our studio is NOT child proofed. The studio adjoins our home and is separated by a wall and a pantry. Two supermarkets are just up the road (7 minute drive - Shaw's or Walmart), so you can easily get provisions for your stay. Zach's store (2 minute drive) has an excellent selection of wine, beer, liquor (hard liquor prices are the same everywhere in Maine), pizza and some groceries. If you want a big breakfast, we will be happy to recommend one of the local breakfast spots. Cooks Corner shopping area in Brunswick with Sears, TJMAXX, BigLots, Bath and Bodyworks, Staples, Applebee’s, etc. is just 3.5 miles up the road, but we might as well be a world away across the Gurnet Bridge here in Harpswell. We provide a soft side cooler, cool packs and a couple beach towels. If you have kayaks or bicycles, bring them along! There are many public boat launches in the area (one is just a minute away) and some good areas for bicycling as well, particularly the nearby former Navy base. There are also three kayak and paddleboard rental places (two that deliver) and arranged kayak tours available as well as sailboat, schooner, ferry and charter boat tours. (seasonal) And to prospective home buyers - we have a few friends in the business!
We are in a residential area conveniently located to many of the area highlights. We are so spoiled here with scenery and little getaway places! There’s a year round seafood place less than a mile and one minute by car! Eat in or takeout! (5% cash discount). Close by there’s a general store with beer, wine, spirits - and pizza! We are in one of the lobster "capitals" of the world!!! Fresh off the boat and so tasty!! Shopping!! Just 6 minutes (3.5 miles) but worlds away to TJMAXX, Sears, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Bath and Bodyworks, Goodwill, BigLots, DollarTree, etc. Just 15 minutes (6.5 miles) to Target, Reny's, etc. Just 24 minutes (9.5 miles) to all the stores and outlets in Freeport including LL Bean flagship store (open 24 hours, 365 days per year) and the LL Bean outlet store. Breweries!! There are more than 20 breweries within a 45 minute drive, with some as close as 15 minutes away. Check out the Maine Beer Trail! We are very close to Flight Deck, Moderation, Sea Dog, Black Pug and Bath Brewing. Flight Deck is an especially fun place with outdoor and indoor seating. Feel free to bring your own food or order from the food truck.. Moderation is also BYOF. You will need a car to get around, but the driving is easy! You can choose to head towards "civilization" or head in the other direction away from the hustle and bustle - or do a little bit of both. Harpswell is a paradise for lobster lovers and for those who love seafood of all kinds. Unspoiled beauty abounds! Harpswell consists of Great Island, Orr's Island, Bailey Island and the peninsula of South Harpswell. We are surrounded by saltwater here! Late June, July, August and September are simply enchanting! Nearby Brunswick is a college town, so there's plenty to do there - lots of restaurants, several museums and beaches and trails that you can walk along every day of the year. We are directly across the road from the New Meadows River. This saltwater river goes out to Casco Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Our home is located midway between the fun and charming town of Brunswick and the city of Bath (The City of Ships, voted "best main street" recently) We are on Great Island in Harpswell on the way to the Harpswell islands of Orr's Island and Bailey Island. The peninsula of South Harpswell is just across the Mountain Road. This area is a year-round destination for enjoying Maine hospitality and scenery. Grocery stores and many shops and restaurants are within 5 to 15 minutes by car. A favorite outdoor seafood place (byob, cash only)- Erica's - is located on the other side of Harpswell and is open from Mother's Day Weekend to Columbus Day Weekend. Erica's is a must see destination featured in Coastal Living Magazine in June 2018 issue. Harpswell and the neighboring towns of Topsham, Bath and Brunswick have many nature preserves, hiking trails, public boat launches, a riverfront bicycle trail, river and ocean views and walks. What's really great is that many of the natural scenery can be enjoyed for free - so you can plan a whole day for only the cost of your food - brown bag it, get takeout, or dine in a restaurant. There are 184 restaurants in total in the towns of Harpswell, Brunswick, Bath and Topsham according to TripAdvisor. For nature enthusiasts, get a taste of what you can see by going to the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust website. Brunswick also has Bowdoin College with Maine State Music Theatre and the International Music Festival throughout the summer. Bowdoin College also has two museums (an Arctic and an art museum) and the Chamberlain House Museum is just across the street. Bowdoin often has events and performances that are open to the public. So much to do -consignment store shopping, watching a movie at nearby Regal Cinemas feature film movie theater or the independent movie theater or scheduled dinner, live entertainment and film options at the Frontier cafe. Smitty's in Topsham offers movies and food at the same time! Four theaters to choose from with Regal Cinemas just a five minute drive away! We are just off Route 1, so we're in a great location to explore Mid Coast Maine for day trips. Visit Rockland/Camden/Rockport, Wiscasset, Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta all within an hour and 20 minutes or less drive. The Maine Maritime Museum is located in Bath. It offers river cruises in the summer. We are less than 20 minutes (12 miles) from Live Well Farm, a very popular venue for weddings and retreats. The intriguing and fun city of Portland (with a tremendous number of restaurants, breweries, bars, museums, lighthouses, beaches etc.) is an easy 35 minute drive. Portland has become THE foodie destination- recently voted #1 by Bon Appetit magazine (2018). Augusta, Maine's capitol city, is also about 40 minutes away. Take a spectacular noontime scenic cruise of Casco Bay just down the road from us on Bailey Island (June 22 - Sept 2, 2019). USA's #1 voted favorite place (according to Good Morning America 2014 poll) Acadia National Park is a three hour drive. We're a good stopping point on the way to Acadia in Bar Harbor if you are heading north. There are some beaches and special places that are only accessible off season - yet another reason to visit any time of the year! Beaches are almost always walkable -even when there's snow on the ground. Schedule horseback riding on Popham Beach from October 1st through March 31st. We have many brochures and a helpful “cheat sheet”, so you can put off the planning until you arrive and then comfortably explore the area. Many of our guests have used our Harpswell Heritage Land Trust brochure with a map, description and directions to some amazingly beautiful places that require only an easy hike or drive to visit.
  • Beautiful place !! Super clean very nice

  • This studio apartment is located on one of the most beautiful peninsulas in Maine, literally across the street from a coastal inlet - which dramatically fills up, and then empties to mud flats during low tide! So much to do in this area, with close proximity to a Country Store and a Lobster Shack in less than a mile. Also close proximity to Freeport, Bath, and Brunswick... under a half hour... and myriads of outdoor and Hiking choices. The hosting couple thought of everything! From spices to bathroom needs, everything was addressed and provided that we had forgotten to take! Plenty of towels and sheets. Very clean place. They are also personable and conversational, but very respectful of our privacy as well. Lots of television options, too. Hope to stay there again in the future!

  • This cute and comfortable studio space was open, light, and spacious. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, and they made us feel more than welcome. It was a wonderful stay.

  • Bill and Alane’s place is lovely - super quaint and cozy. Alane was very quick to respond to my messages, even though she and Bill were away for the first day or so. Alane made us pancakes one morning - they were delicious! She gave us recommendations on what to do in the area, but also gave us space to do our own thing. Also, their dog Jimmy is adorable :)

  • Just the perfect little get away space. Tidy, close to the shore and cozy. Amazing in every way.

  • We booked a 2 night stay with very short notice. At check in we were greeted and given all of the in's and out's of dining and hiking in the area. We ended up having a great time and enjoying several beach hikes in the surrounding area.

  • Beautiful location on a tidal cove. Floor to ceiling windows on one-half of cottage made you feel as if you were outdoors, when you were in fact indoors. Easy to get to all spots in Harspwell, Brunswick, and Bath

  • This is a lovely spot in a gorgeous, private location. The kitchen is well-equipped, the washer and dryer are first-rate, and all the comforts of home are at you fingertips. Highly recommended!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this loft/cottage. The property is gorgeous. Watching the tides come in and out with the sunrise and sunset were one of our favorite things to do. The loft is gorgeous, and spotless. The kitchen is a nice size, and allowed us plenty of room for cooking which we enjoyed. You are close enough to shopping and restaurants that you don't feel like you are in the middle of nowhere once you leave the property, but you are far enough from the road to feel like you are in your own private world. Very relaxing! Heads Up: If you aren't a morning person (we were so it wasn't a problem) be aware that there are no blinds on the side of the house facing the water, so you will be up at sunrise every morning. There are also some very active turkeys and roosters across the street who like to serenade you throughout the day! We found it charming, and kind of hilarious after a few days, but it is something to keep in mind. You don't normally hear them inside the house though, so that's a plus. We highly recommend this property!

    Leigh Anne2019-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin I loved the details like the hammock and the park bench in front for overlooking the water or watching the sunrises in the morning.

    Mauricio2019-05-14T00:00:00Z
  • The house exceeded our expectations on every level. We thoroughly read through previous reviews and agreed that Your Island Connection took every critique to heart and modified their abode for subsequent offerings. We booked the house for Thanksgiving weekend and packed the car with everything necessary to cook a hearty meal. We were surprised at the full offerings of kitchen necessities including a Henkel knife block and martini shaker. Although the house seems isolated, there is a surrounding neighborhood, something that put my girlfriend at ease. The genius layout has the expansive windows facing only the water, nothing else. You feel alone, but there is a surrounding community. The loft bedroom was perfect to escape and get a solid night's sleep. It became toasty quick with the additional heater and thick down comforter. We brought extra blankets but felt we didn't need them. The loft was small, but we could fit the dog's large crate and covering with little issue. And it was quiet enough when she needed to settle down she did so without complaint. Upon check-in you get professionally laundered linens, we were short 2 pillow cases but my girlfriend found some in the closet we could use, proof that this house has every item you could possibly need for a stay. It felt like a real summer rental and we could have only brought clothes and been without complaint. Every morning you can watch the working lobster boats motor out from their moorings and carry in their daily catch. During low tide we took the dog to explore the silty shoreline and look for sea glass. The house was perfect. It was so perfect that I asked my girlfriend to marry me while sitting in the living room on Saturday morning. We are already planning our return trip.

  • Always a great sign when you're planning your return to the rental next year within an hour of arrival. Impeccably decorated space with stunning views of Card Cove. Relaxation manifested. We enjoyed magnificent sunrises, all kinds of weather, and generally embraced the calm as we watched the fishermen come and go in their boats. The privacy was spectacular, despite the absence of any curtains on the windows, aside from the bathroom. One house nearby, about 2 acres away, but otherwise a totally private house with room to roam. Neighboring turkeys and chickens, who greeted us upon arrival, provide a steady but pleasant farm-like soundtrack any time you're outside. If you don't like cockadoodledoos at 7 AM, and 7 PM, this might not be the place for you. We didn't mind them in the least, and you can't hear them inside. Living room area had somewhat spartan furniture; pullout couch (we did not use the pullout) and two chairs, one a rocking chair, and a flat-screen TV with decent cable access. Ultra-fast Wi-Fi. A bit of a challenge to watch TV from the couch. The kitchen was fully stocked with every implement/pan necessary for making tasty meals. The fridge was on the smaller side, and getting ice trays into the freezer without spilling them was quite a feat. Be sure to use the griddle to make pancakes (with local syrup, duh). Coffeemaker initially posed a challenge, but the hosts promptly resolved it. Nearest larger grocery store is Shaws (very nice!), or WalMart, about 10 miles away, so best to stop on your way in. The bathroom and laundry area was excellent, and spotlessly clean. Water pressure not the greatest but not terrible, either. Huge shower! The bedroom, lofted over the living room, had a pretty low ceiling, but high enough that you could walk around without bumping your head if you paid attention. Views of the cove from up there were amazing; so nice to lay in bed watching the sunrise. The bed itself was quite firm, and the sheets were definitely not high end. We'll bring our own next time. Also didn't find any extra blankets lying around (fortunately we indeed had brought our own, in anticipation of using it outside, which was a brilliant move). Surrounding area was gorgeous, should you desire to venture away from the house. Check out the nearby Giant Stairs and Land's End Gift Shop. We got a wonderful lawbstah dinnah at The Dolphin, a nearby seasonal restaurant (closes at the end of October). Convenient to Freeport (outlet shopping) and Brunswick (home of Bowdoin). We are eager to return!

    Michael2018-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect locale and cottage! The cottage was the perfect size for me and my pups and the dogs had room to roam outside. Loved all the windows and the morning sunlight! Very clean with all the necessary amenities. Communication was good and the local info was helpful. I would definitely stay again!!

    Elizabeth2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect getaway for a couple. We had a low key time sitting in the dock, having a fire in the evening and just RELAXING. You can see the water from bed and everywhere else in the home. At first we were confused when we saw the trailer on the property and were concerned about privacy but it seems to be unoccupied or a project being worked on. We had easy access to everything we needed throughout the house; kitchen supplies, grill, puzzle we did throughout our stay, fire pit etc. If I had to critic anything negative it would be the coffee maker isn’t too great. Besides that, I highly recommend staying here!

  • Very clean n cozy place to stay

  • We made this stay our home base for the many excursions we did with our four kids. It was the perfect size for us, and had everything we needed. You will find it just as the pictures show. It was very clean. The location is close to Route 1, so you can easily be on your way to explore. We did a boat trip out of Boothbay Harbor, visited Marshall Point lighthouse (featured in Forrest Gump), Pemaquid lighthouse (climb to the top!), Popham Beach State Park at low tide was breathtaking, and many other places in just the four days we stayed. We did everything I mentioned in just one day! The space was great to come back to after our long days out. All of the amenities of home are there. The hosts are very quick to respond. Don't hesitate to book this place!

  • What a wonderful place to stay. We were immediately “wowed” from the moment we stepped inside. Very attentive and accommodating host/hostess upon check-in and everything was clean and tidy. The location is close to downtown Bath (which has lots of great places to eat), within a half hour from Popham Beach, Reid State Park, and other places near the coast. Definitely recommend to all.

Escape to this quiet space and deep soak your mind in the meditation room or relax your body with the deep soaking tub and recharge after a long day. The whole 3rd floor is yours. A private sitting room, bedroom and bath are ready for your arrival. This is a 3rd story walk up. There is a parking space right outside the front door and a keypad lock. Easy access in and out. Your dog is welcome to join you.
There is a refrigerator, microwave, electric tea kettle and coffee maker for your use. There is no kitchen for cooking.
This neighborhood was developed well over 100 years ago by the local mill owners who built the homes here to provide housing for mill workers from Canada and their families. Eventually a walking bridge was built to allow families to get to church and to school across the Androscoggin River. That bridge will bring you into Brunswick in 5 mins. where you'll find great restaurants, breweries, a local movie theatre, museums, art galleries and Bowdoin College. My favorite coffee shop is an 8 min walk across the pedestrian bridge. Union Street Bakery and Coffee Shop makes the most amazing muffins, breads, cakes and cookies. Along with sandwiches and soups. You won't be disappointed if you head there. You're 15 mins from Freeport and LL Beans and just 30 mins from Portland and its amazing food and music scene. The most beautiful beaches in Maine are just a short drive from here. Along with hikes through the woods, bike trails, boat launches if you've got a canoe or kayak on the roof of your car.
  • We stayed with Mary for a month in winter and loved the place. it's a short 0.5 mile walk to downtown by way of the beautiful Androscoggin foot bridge and 0.75 miles to the Amtrak station. This makes her location perfect if you want to spend time at the wonderful restaurants in Brunswick and take the train into Freeport or Portland, all without driving. Mary's place is larger than the pictures suggest and it's very cozy and private. You effectively have a private entrance. The mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and kettle are sufficient for longer stays if you don't need a full kitchen. Mary is very kind and communicative. We have already booked another month with her and would highly recommend you give her place a try as well.

  • Mary was very friendly and easy to communicate with. We arrived a weekend of a snow storm and she made sure to check in on us to make sure our trip was going well and we were staying warm with the below average temperatures outside! Great location with plenty to do!

  • I very much enjoyed my time in Mary's sweet place. Luxurious bath, comfortable bed, and a convenient spot to enjoy Topsham, Brunswick and Portland. I loved walking across the footbridge to Brunswick (there's a yoga studio only a 10 minute walk away). Short drive to beautiful hikes through woods or on beaches. I'll be going back, for sure!

  • This space is clean, organized and stylish. The tub is spacious and pleasant amenities are provided to enjoy it in. Interesting books are provided to read with a sitting area. The mediation room is tranquil. The bed has great pillows and is cozy, the room stayed warm the entire night even with the snowfall outside. Highly recommend this blissful getaway retreat.

  • The perfect place for a quick getaway! Mary’s space is exactly as it’s described in all the best ways. It’s as peaceful and charming as it looks, the tub is amazing and the location is perfect for quiet and strolls into town. I hope to visit again!

  • Mary is a wonderful host. If you get the chance to try her breakfast, it is absolutely delicious!! I enjoyed the meditation space and the amazing candle-lit bath. All-in-all, I had an amazing and memorable experience here!

Come enjoy the historic charm of South Freeport. This antique home and cozy accommodation await you, featuring a private entrance, private room, private full bath, t.v. with cable, and wi-fi. This is a second-floor room, accessed from a dramatic original (steep) staircase, and is conveniently located in an area of lovely homes, with Freeport Village just five minutes away.
We are just a short walk to the waterfront and Lobster Rolls, minutes to LL Bean and Freeport Outlet Shopping, Wolfe's Neck State Park, Bradbury Mountain State Park, and only 20 minutes to downtown Portland! Great location, picturesque setting!
This is a neighborhood of historic homes. There are many professionals and families, with dog walkers, bicyclists and runners. Please be mindful of the speed limit and pedestrian traffic. Lots of great walks and hikes to be had!
  • The location for exploring Maine is perfect. I’m a regular visitor to Maine so was happy that it was so close to all I hold near and dear. Quiet and off the beaten track yet only minutes from great exploration. I highly recommend and will be back myself soon!

  • Comfortable, sparkling clean, quiet, and private.

    Faye2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy and Jerry were incredibly responsive, and their home was lovely! Even though I didn't have the opportunity to meet them, they left little notes with advice about the area around the suite - so nice. Their place was exactly as listed - private suite even with my own entrance to the home. Check in and check out was a breeze, and Freeport is a lovely, lovely town. I would certainly stay with Sandy and Jerry again, and I would recommend their place to anyone I knew.

  • The place is adorable!! Really comfortable, located in the middle of the woods, beautiful views but easy access to downtown Freeport and Portland with the car. Hosts are accommodating and thoughtful! Would definitely come back!!!

    Lea2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, private, and comfortable lodging. Close to everything including Brunswick and Portland. Thank you, Sandy and Jerry, for a wonderful stay.

    Lynn2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my stay at Sandy and Jerry’s. This was my first time using air bnb and it was a great experience. I am used to staying at hotels and this was better! They provided so many nice touches, like coffee creamer and breakfast bars, that made it extra convenient. I was on a solo get away so I really appreciate how their setup allows 100% privacy. I did not hear them once! The location is great - a very quite and seemingly safe neighborhood with people out walking and enjoying their day. Sandy and Jerry offered to let me check-in early to avoid driving in a snow storm and also shoveled out my entrance walkway and put salt to melt the ice. Very thoughtful and kind. Very comfortable bed and awesome pillows. 10/10 and will be staying again!

  • My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Sandy and Jerry were quick to respond and very detailed with their instructions to the suite. Very private and extremely cozy. We will be back again!:)

Waterfront house with spectacular views nestled on 4 acres. 400 ft of private beach with direct path to the water from the house. Large home with a fully equipped gourmet kitchen . Vaulted living area , large stone fireplace and master bedroom and master bath on main level of house. Very private yet within 10 mins to Brunswick. Surrounding our home are the great outdoors offering kayaking , sailing, fishing, swimming, hiking and wild life watching to name a few .
This quintessential Maine home is named in memory of Tides, our beloved yellow Labrador Retriever of 13 years, and the ocean tides which will quickly become your best friend and companion when staying at our beautiful Maine retreat. An environmentally friendly home—powered by solar and an automatic standby generator—nestled on 4 waterfront acres with a private road . Our home has a direct path to our private beach and water's edge deck offering direct access to the water and Casco Bay. Large family house features 3 large bedrooms and 2 full baths, including the master bedroom and a master bath en suite on the main living level. This very private residence offers a unique setting to "get away from it all” and unwind. Yet it is also within a 12 minute drive to Brunswick, only 45 minutes to Portland Airport. and roughly 2 1/2 hour drive to Boston. A perfect few days for us might be spent kayaking right in front of our residence, watching the sunrise over the water, possibly catching a glimpse of an eagle, watching the lobster boats go by while having breakfast, walking down our private road and taking in the beautiful scenery. A visit to Brunswick to the "Crystal Farms" farmers market for some of the local produce is a favorite Saturday morning adventure. We highly recommend bringing home some of the local seafood, dining on our enormous deck with a glass of wine, as the moon shines on the water, flooding the house with lunar light. Close by is the historic Town of Bath and a little further down the coastal highway is "Reds" where you can feast on world renown lobster rolls (be prepared to stand in line) . Being die hard "foodies" we love that we can be in Portland in about 45 minutes and dine at some of the finest restaurants that New England has to offer with excellent choices in farm to table dining. "The Street" and "Fore Street" are two favorites and a visit to Portland is not complete without a stop at "Standard Bakery" and "Becky's Diner". If you love sushi then a visit to "Miyake" is a gastronomical experience to be savored. We also recommend checking out some of Portland’s exciting night life with an excellent selection of ocean front bars and local breweries – it’s a good time and you can always take an UBER back to Harpswell. Don't want to drive to Portland then stay local and check out a nearby dining treasure (in season) at "Morse's Cribstone Grill". A good way to work off all that food would be a trip to nearby Bradbury State Park for a hike to the top of the mountain or, weather permitting, kayaks are available for rental and can be delivered directly to the house. A visit to "LL Bean", along with the other fine retail outlet shops, is almost a requirement in nearby Freeport. Take the scenic Pleasant Hill road back to Brunswick and perhaps stop off first at "Bow Street Market" . Brunswick is one of our favorite towns and has so much to offer from restaurants, pubs , art galleries, Bowdoin College and did I mention "Gelato Fiasco"? You will be wondering where the time went and will understand why they say: "There are only two types of people in the world , those who live in Harpswell and those that wish they did".
We live in a wonderful very private neighborhood with abundant wildlife. It is of utmost importance to us that our guests respect the privacy of our neighbors and strive to ensure that the beauty and serenity of our neighborhood and waterways are maintained and respected at all times . This is not a "party" place.
  • The house was wonderful. The seclusionwas perfect for my friends and I looking to have drinks and sit by a fire for 3 days. Portland is easy to get to but we really loved Harpswell especially. Even in winter the town was gorgeous and had perfect views on every side.

  • A great homey well-appointed retreat in a tranquil lovely spot. We were there for Bowdoin College’s commencement, and would recommend it to other Bowdoin families.

    Cathy2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was fantastic! Peacefully quiet, secluded-yet a large grocery store just 10 minutes away, the beds were unbelievably comfortable, the view is spectacular, the kitchen was well stocked with everything we could want, check in/out was super easy, both Stan and Arnold were excellent at communication .. right down to great tasting water this place was perfect in every way. I highly recommend The Tides!

    Janette2019-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Tides is a great place to stay! The view from inside the house is spectacular. We saw Buffleheads in the bay out the window. It was super comfortable and cozy - the huge comfy couch was our favorite feature, and the wood stove made it toasty and warm. Harpswell is a great location — we strongly recommend this rental!!

    Elizabeth2018-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful retreat with all we expected from Maine close by.

    Victor2018-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house and location is phantastic. Great for daytrips around mid coast Maine, but also for the islands of Harpswell. The house was very clean, everything you could possibly need was provided. We can wholeheartedly recommend to stay at the Tides.
