Tori was super helpful and accomodating

The beds were great, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the coffee machine (And beans!) were wonderful. Be warned, the bedrooms can get very warm if you light the fire downstairs. We brought sparky the wonder dog and she loved it, too.

    Kayla2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot! We arrived at night, jumped in a hot bath and had a wonderful sleep. Waking in the morning to see country side was lovely. Thanks so much!!!

    Michelle2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The dairy was an incredible little getaway for myself and my partner (who proposed to me on our first night!), the space is run so thoughtfully, it truly feels like running your own little farm for a couple of days. Highly recommend!

  • Blissful retreat to celebrate my 30th birthday! The outdoor bath is pure magic. We loved that our poodle could enjoy the holiday too. Excellent hosts. Wish we could ha e stayed longer in the Broger’s End bubble ☺️

  • A lovely reclaimed dairy, perfect for a couple. It has a very peaceful and calming ambience, very cosy and comfortable, and a lovely outlook over green paddocks down to kangaroo river. The house is full of nice little touches, like antique furniture and light fixtures. The kitchen was well set up to cook a stovetop meal. The focus on solar power and battery storage was great to see, as was the overall commitment to sustainability. We would love to come back in the future and relive what was a lovely weekend for us. The only regret we had was not staying a third night. Tori was very helpful organising a picnic platter and suggesting nice walks we could do around the area. Definitely worth visiting!

    Nick2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Dairy at Broger's End is well set up for a nice, quiet and relaxing retreat. It is a fairly small space with air conditioning so is easy to keep at a comfortable temperature. We found the hosts to be very helpful. As expected for a rural property, you may not want to be too squeamish about flies, spiders and lizards.

  • My husband and I stayed 2 nights at The Old Bakery. Can’t recommend it highly enough. The location was perfect, easy walking distance to shops, cafes, nice restaurants. We ate at an Indian place (Mango Tree) one night, and Thai the next (Jing Jo) - both great. Many cafes and delis for lunch or snacks. Bige had all we needed to make a fresh breakfast each morning, as well as wine, cheese, crackers, fruit.... The cottage was immediately welcoming and homey, clean, beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. Everything we could imagine needing was there. Bige was quick to answer any questions we had, and otherwise left us to our own. Lovely all around. We are so glad we chose to visit Kangaroo Valley and The Old Bakery!

    Laura2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is exactly as described. Bige made us feel very welcome, and offered lots of homely touches. We had an extremely enjoyable two day stay.

  • From the moment we saw this beautiful gem, we knew we had found the right spot for our getaway. Exotic birds were hanging out in the garden, and this just made the whole welcome such a unique experience. The Old Bakery is filled with beautiful details to accommodate the stay - everything was way beyond our expectations, from the chocolate and wine for welcome, to the cheese platter in the fridge, and everything for a lovely breakfast in the morning. The place is so dreamy and has to be experienced. We loved, loved, loved this place and especially Bige and her hospitality and genuine care. You definitely feel that Bige is someone who is basically making b'n'b to an art. Lots of love <3

  • Fabulous. Exactly what I wanted and needed. Air con and ceiling fans would have been nice, but am sure you don't get many days of the year the mercury hits 47! Cottage well insulated and your advice on how to keep the building cool in times of extreme heat was invaluable. Thank you so much. I will definitely be back to stay when i need another few days of time out. :)

  • My Fiancée and I managed to get a last minute booking at The Vale for a birthday weekend away from Sydney and couldn’t have had a better experience. Firstly, Federico was super responsive and sent through a whole heap of information which covered everything from getting to the property, everything we needed to know for when we arrived & throughout our stay, and even tonnes of options for different activities in the local area - This was really helpful having never been to Bundanoon! We arrived at around 9pm, and Federico was immediately there to greet us and give us a quick tour of the property before leaving us with all the privacy you could wish for. There was some lovely touches in the accommodation, particular highlight we’re having the wood fire setup and ready to go, and having fresh eggs and bacon along with juice, coffee and milk for breakfast in the morning - I’ve stayed in many an Airbnb and this was a first for me. We were super happy to be able to take our pooch on the trip with us, and it’s safe to say that he had as good of a time as we did - He loved running around the gardens and was stoked to be able to lay in front of the wood fire in the evening. I’d 100% recommend The Vale to anyone, and look forward to returning again.

  • Frederico was so communicative and a terrific host - he provided everything possible for an amazing stay! Beautiful surroundings and wonderfully appointed accommodation for ourselves and our two lab fur babies. Thank you again Frederico!

    Suzanne2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very thoughtful touches that made the stay even better than what we expected - the garden was v nice!

    Carl2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • A brief trip but was worth every cent. The little finished and thoughtful touches to the studio (like chocolate on the bed on arrival) made me not want to leave. The photos of the garden don’t do it justice. Will definitely be back and will stay a bit longer to enjoy the garden and also the animals. Thanks again 😁

    Oli2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spot! We went with our active dog and we felt very spoiled! We went on walks and baked bread! Thank you 🙏🏻🥰

    Liz2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Federico's place. The accommodation was as described, with thoughtful touches like bath robes, chocolate on the pillows, and items in the fridge to cook breakfast. The garden was gorgeous and we felt comfortable walking around with our puppy to see the chickens and alpacas. The compendium was a useful resource and all amenities worked well. We are already planning to come back in winter to enjoy the cosy fireplace.

    Lillian2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing place, love everything in The Vale. Wish to go back soon! Highly Recommended!!

    Carrie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Federico is a great host and very welcoming. We arrived late at night and the studio was the perfect stop over for us and our fur baby. Make sure you take time to wander through the beautiful gardens and say hello to the animals. We will definitely be back!

Our tiny house is inside a residential estate, within a half-hour drive of several wineries, national parks, and the beautiful town of Bundanoon. We also have a few bush tracks within the estate for you to enjoy. The Tiny is basic, but beautiful. It has a composting toilet, as well as a loft bedroom accessed by ladder. There is also plenty of space for dogs to run around. Note: due to current restrictions, only those travelling for essential purposes are legally allowed to stay with us.
We're in a country estate with about 150 properties, each at least three acres in size. Our block is about four-and-a-half acres, and the tiny house sits at the back of it, about 150 metres away from the main house. It's about 12.5 square metres on the ground floor, with a loft bedroom, a small kitchen with a two-burner stove and bar fridge, a bathroom with shower and composting toilet, and a living area. At the moment we're doing some landscaping work, so the grounds surrounding the house are not yet complete.
Tallong is a small rural town, with the local shop and cafe The Midge serving breakfast and lunch, as well as tasty pizzas on Friday nights. A short drive away is the township of Marulan, where there are several good cafes, a variety of antique stores and the local pub. We will soon also have an IGA and IGA liquor in Marulan, but for the moment groceries are best bought on the way down, or in Goulburn.
  • Paul and Deirdre were great hosts from the get go. Very quick to reply to us (we booked a little late) and were more than hospitable. The place was exactly what we expected, and what we expected was great. Thank you so much for a fantastic weekend!

  • We had a great time at the tiny house and Dave the dog was a fab companion for our puppy. Deidre and Paul were very accommodating with everything we needed and we enjoyed the time to read and relax.

    Adam2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Deidre and Paul’s tiny house was a great little getaway, there was really easy access in a great location provided you don’t mind to drive a little and it was so neat and tidy as well.

    Curtis2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • My first tiny house experience and now I want my own. What an absolute gem of a space for anyone wanting a retreat from it all.

    Jennifer2019-12-04T00:00:00Z
  • My favorite thing about this tiny house has to be the bed in the loft, with big windows offering nice views out into the surrounding trees and scrub. Deirdre and Paul were very accommodating and the house was just as advertised (and their dog is sooo friendly!!). One caution: I let some nice fat moths in the front door by accident, and they were quite excited by the lamps over the bed... so be careful if you’re particularly scared of confused fluffy bugs knocking into your hands and face overnight!

    Rebecca2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very short stay at Deirdre and Paul’s but it was really cute and a lovely place to stay. Their dog is a rockstar and came for cuddles in the morning. Deirdre and Paul were responsive and helpful. Would recommend it as a lovely place who stay.

  • We had such a lovely stay at Jennifer’s place. The accomodation was perfect for myself and my two boys (a toddler and a baby). The cottage had everything we needed and more with lots of thoughtful touches. The little pigs and chickens were a hit with my boys as was the play area but best of all was meeting Jennifer and her family who were such lovely, caring and welcoming hosts. I would recommend this spot to anyone and will definitely be back again myself.

    Rachel2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Jennifer's cottage! Great hospitality and very responsive hosts. Thank you for the delicious breakfast supplies. The beds are comfy, linen and towels very high quality & kitchen is well equipped. The living area is really spacious. It was particularly wet weather for our stay so we appreciated the TV with streaming services & Amazon Alexa for music. And so helpful to have the toys & baby amenities traveling with a 4 year old and 5 month old.

Wingello is a village in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. It is mid-way between Sydney, the capital of NSW, and Canberra, the nation’s capital. It has a population circa 300 people. Wingello is the southern highland's best kept secret! It is small enough to provide an authentic Australian country town experience, whilst being close enough to two of Australia's capital cities. You won't feel like you are in a suburb of sydney, like you can feel in some parts of the highlands. Wingello has a local Village Store and Post Office. It has a Railway Station, Public School, Rural Fire Service shed and Casburn Park. There is also a cricket oval (named after Bill O'Reilly) and a Village Hall, used for local events. The Wingello State Forest is in popular use for bike rides, rock-climbing, orienteering and sled-dog races.
  • We loved our stay at Wilmotte Cottage. It is exactly as per the photos etc. the breakfast supplies were really appreciated along with many other staples in the pantry. Well done Octavia and Simon, ticks all the boxes.

  • Cute cottage and lots for the kids to do. Surprise tractor ride to feed the pigs was a highlight, as well as seeing the dog round up the sheep! Kids loved feeding the chickens.

  • A great little airbnb in a very peaceful area with lots of little villages to explore!

    Fay2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous farm house property which is nice and cosy.

    Natalie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We only wish we could have stayed longer, but we were there for a wedding so only came to the house late. We loved getting a tour with the hosts and seeing baby chicks, pigs and learning about how garlic is grown. We don't take our meat and vegies for granted any more and have a new appreciation for the hard work that goes into sustainable farming.

    Gemma2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Roslyn park, the accommodation was immaculate with everything we needed, beautiful linen and towels, delicious eggs for breakfast, comfy beds and plenty of space. My 2 boys loved all the farm animals and Laura and Twiss were so generous with their time, collecting eggs, driving around the farm on the ATV, seeing all the animals. It felt like staying with family for the weekend, the boys were sad to leave. It’s a beautiful property.

    Anna2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time thank you.

    Chris2019-09-01T00:00:00Z

  • We had a great time feeding the farm animals and learning about them. Laura and her husband were very friendly and welcoming and gave us lots of useful tips for our time there. We would definitely go back. We enjoyed playing with their dogs who were really sweet and loving.

  • We stayed for a week in this lovely Airbnb. Gaye and Derek are great hosts. The apartment is private, peaceful and quiet, but it is easy to access all of the main roads, and a beautiful scenic drive right into the centre of Bowral. Large modern bathroom, good breakfast provisions including decaf coffee, and the best coffee machine we have ever used in any B&B. There were several cool, rainy days during our visit but we were warm and cosy inside the apartment with good air-conditioning. Off street parking for our car right next to the apartment was excellent. A great place to stay and explore the Southern Highlands.

Your perfect getaway. Clawfoot bath. Fireplace. Mezzanine loft bedroom. Tranquil character barn conversion (c.1915) set in gorgeous 'Netherhall' gardens. Read that book. Write that song. 200m to village with several cafes. Close to glow worms, walking & cycle tracks, and southern highlands wineries. 400m to station. Book now and we'll put the fire on!
Morton Cottage was originally a barn and has also been an artist studio. Real log look gas fire. French doors to verandah. Enjoy your complimentary tawny port as you settle in for a movie or a game. Use the picnic backpack and folding chairs provided to have a pop up Highlands picnic. The bedroom is a mezzanine loft overlooking the lounge. The cosy queen bed has comfy electric blankets. The bedroom has a bird's eye view over the garden. The bathroom also has a garden view. There is a full-size clawfoot bath and a range of bubbles to try while you soak out your stress. The floor is of Himalayan sandstone, with fossils visible. Kitchen has a gas cooktop, microwave, bar fridge, and is fully equipped, including basic condiments. The lounge includes a generous sofa (which has been chosen specifically because it's comfortable for sleeping) and a beautiful fireplace. CDs, videos, books and magazines provided. Your hosts, Brian and Juanita, live in the residence at the top of the garden, but the cottage is very private with its own separate access off Victoria St. The garden has been lovingly preserved in the style of the era in the planting selection and 'Edna Walling-esque' garden design. As current owners, we are keen to continue to nurture and complete this vision (if a garden can ever be said to be complete!). There are many birds about. Watch for the red and green King Parrots. Crimson rosellas and black cockatoos are also frequent visitors.
Bundanoon is a small village with a heritage-listed main street. There are several cafes and a couple of gift stores. There is a local supermarket 400m away where you can get most necessities. The village also has a PO, chemist and newsagent. The village retains much of the 1920s character that has drawn visitors to the beautiful bush views and glow worms for 100 years. The art deco Soldiers Memorial Hall is the centre of village life. We have an excellent program of music or theatre performances most weekends as well as the 'Makers Market' on 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month. There is an olde English pub, as well as pizza and takeaway options. The Dining Room (Thurs night -Sunday lunch) has an excellent seasonal menu in an evocative 1920s guest house.
  • Such an amazing place to stay. So beautiful! Juanita was such a lovely host. Will definitely be back!

    Brianna2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay, a really great spot for a getaway. Old barn turned into a quaint cottage fit with nice finishings and stylish touches.

    Timothy2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible. Pics don't do the place justice. Very clean, lots of thoughtful touches. Juanita is friendly and very helpful. Dogs Rupert and Enzo are great company in the afternoons. Loads to do in the surrounding areas. Fantastic for a romantic getaway. We'll definitely be back.

  • The word "cosy" was coined with Morton Cottage in mind. Set in a beautiful garden, with easy access to both the village and the surrounding National Park, this cottage is comfortable, convenient and an absolute delight. The guest is presented with a well-appointed little home where the very tasteful decor is only enhanced by the many thoughtful touches, (books, games, a picnic-set backpack, emergency torch next to the bed, etc, etc), that the kind hosts have provided. Highly recommended.

    Denis2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Juanita’s place is thoughtfully set up and perfectly cosy. It is well located for local activities - if you can bear to leave the comfy bed.

    Jessie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cute cottage and exactly how it is described. Comfortable in a gorgeous village with full privacy even though not far from main house. Dogs come to visit in the afternoon which was lovely. Had a wonderful and relaxing stay.

  • Juanita, I can’t thank you enough for the kindness you have shown me. I have ended up in hospital and unfortunately not in a great way. Thank you for your hospitality and we will be back again to visit! Lots of Chantelle and Nelson

Welcome to "Le Mas" - a beautiful rustic country farmhouse modelled and named after those in Provence, France. The Le Mas annexe is a self-contained house attached (but completely separate) to the main house.
Le Mas is an 100 acre property in Penrose, Southern Highlands, NSW. We are just 2 doors down from the Sylvan Glen Guesthouse and wedding venue. Situated on the property is a main house that we live in, and a separate guest annexe (which is what's available for rent). Upstairs: 1 main bedroom: Queen bed with ensuite (sleeps 2) - accessed through loft. 1 loft landing bedroom: 2 x king single beds, 1 single bed and 1 single trundle (sleeps 4). Downstairs: Lounge room: 1 sofa double bed (sleeps 2) Separate bathroom, kitchenette and dining table. The kitchenette comprises the basics of kettle, toaster, fridge and a convection microwave oven with 2 x hotplates on top (not a proper full sized cooker). Outside there is a small wooden outdoor setting with chairs and a hooded gas Weber BBQ. The house has underfloor heating as well as a slow combustion log fireplace - perfect for those cosy winter nights in the Southern Highlands. Guests will have complete access to the whole property, except the main house (which is attached but separate to the annexe rental property). The Southern Highlands is a beautiful and peaceful area, approximately 1 1/2 hours south of Sydney. It is also about the same distance west of Wollongong and north of Canberra. Penrose is a small village of approximately 200 people, in between the neighbouring villages of Bundanoon (10 minutes away) and Wingello (5 minutes away). It has a railway station, tennis courts and provides a great launch pad for further exploration of the Highlands. Le Mas is very well situated for guests attending a wedding or function at Sylvan Glen, as we are only 2 doors down the road. It is conveniently located 10 minutes from the Hume Highway. We can provide some accommodation for horses at a small additional cost, please discuss this with us upon booking if required. The property is ideally situated between Penrose and Wingello State Forests - great for trail riding/walking/mountain bike riding. We are also not far from the villages of Bundanoon, Exeter and Sutton Forest, as well as the townships of Berrima and Moss Vale. There are several lovely wineries in the area which are well worth a visit.
We are situated between Penrose and Wingello State Forests and not far from Morton NP, which makes it a wonderful destination for trail riding, bush walking and mountain bike riding.
  • Excellent, rustic but cosy and clean. Felt like we could have been in the south of France with the style and decor. The view to the garden was gorgeous. A great place to unwind and relax both summer and winter. Proximity to Sylvan Glen for the wedding we attended was just perfect. Adults and children loved the stay.the

Our cottage is a delightful, character filled, rustic mud brick house set in two and half acres of trees and gardens. Its a haven of peace and quiet on the edge of a small village in the lovely Southern Highlands rural area less than two hours south of Sydney. The area abounds in national parks, forests with abundant walking and cycling trails. Nearby towns and villages feature cafes, galleries and antique browsing opportunities.
It has one bedroom with a queen sized bed plus a comfortable single bed that folds away. Its in a cool climate area but has a glass front wood heater, wood cooking range as well as gas heating. The kitchen is well equipped with a chef's range with five burner gas cooktop and large electric oven along with dishwasher, microwave and all the usual cooking requirements. The grounds are a lovely area to sit and read, bird watch or just chill out.

    Virginia2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Retreat at Wingello was exactly what it reported to be - spacious, clean, quiet and a perfect escape away from the hustle and bustle. We were looking for a perfect country weekend away to spend some quality time together before expecting our first baby in 6 weeks and that is exactly what we got at this lovely home. We were never cold given the indoor fireplace and the home was cosy given the cold and rainy weather we had outside on one morning. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for a quiet weekend away with all the comforts of home.

Our tiny home is located on Azaltie, an 11 acre property in Kangaroo Valley. It is secluded and peaceful with the sound of the bush and songs from the birds. Come and enjoy a peaceful and quiet night with us. Our night sky is stunning, majestic and crystal clear! Kangaroo Valley is Australiaʼs most beautiful valley with a tranquil river, rich green pastures, abundant wildlife, enchanting wilderness, a spectacular escarpment, a friendly community and a delightful village.
The tiny house offers guests a comfortable stay with its well-equipped kitchenette, hot showers, a waterless eco-friendly compost toilet, complete with air-conditioning and heating. There is a queen sized bed up in the loft and a sofa bed on the ground floor, which can be opened up to a double bed size. It can sleep 2 adults (in the loft) and 1 child (on the sofa bed) comfortably. You will need to climb stairs to get to the loft. The Kangaroo River Nature Reserve is just next to our property and it has beautiful walking trails through creek beds down to the main Kangaroo River. Our property has an abundance of gorgeous scribbly gum trees which provide habitat for many Australian birds and our resident Kingfishers. It is also a special habitat for native wildlife including kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, possums, goannas, frogs and wallabies. This tiny home is managed by the people at Tiny Away. Tiny Away integrates the concept of tiny houses with eco-tourism. It stems from our desire to allow everyone a chance to experience tiny living in the midst of nature yet be able to stay in comfort.
Just two hours from Sydney and Canberra, nestled between the Southern Highlands and the South Coast, Kangaroo Valley is perfect for a nature escape, holiday destination or a romantic weekend. It is a popular destination for kayaking, canoeing, golf, wine tasting, bush walking and mountain biking and for complete relaxation. The night sky is crystal clear and truly mesmerising. Among the many other things to do and see, discover fascinating colonial history at the Kangaroo Valley Pioneer Village Museum and see the historic Hampden Bridge, Australiaʼs last surviving wooden suspension bridge with four large sandstone turrets. Kangaroo Valley and surrounds is the perfect peaceful escape to relax, stay and play!

  • We really enjoyed our first experience staying in a tiny house! The house itself was well set up, clean and didn’t feel too small even with 3 adults staying over! Heidi the host was very attentive and accommodating to all our requests and needs. Location is great and you will very likely get a visit from kangaroos at dusk.

    Amanda2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • It was an awesome experience! Was a bit hesitant especially about the waterless toilet, but after staying here it totally blew my mind. Definitely worth it! Our host Heidi was very accommodating with all my questions and had provided simple extra details which made our stay even more enjoyable! Me and my friends had a wonderful birthday weekend away from the city and away from all the gadgets.

We also enjoyed the horsemanship lessons, Geoff certainly knows his stuff and it's good to appreciate how we can interact with animals. The accomodation is all that you need for a weekend away!

It's a unique, tranquil haven with beautifully balanced respect for our environment. If you stay in Kulathirrie's Green Room studio you will most definitely get to relax, unwind and share in a most beautiful part of our world. Thanks so much for hosting me Jane and Ed!

  • A lovely studio in amazing surroundings. Host (and guinea fowl) welcoming. We drove to Wombeyan Caves and spent a long time finding it, even with satnav. The cave office is right next to the camp ground, but not well signposted. Caves themselves well worth a visit.

Awesome large eat-in kitchen with great view over garden and Bundanoon. Also light-filled. On site car parking at the back, or park close to front door in front of garage door. Free WIFI! You walk down the side of the house from the car park and up a short flight of stairs to the private entrance. Off the right of the entrance hall is the fully tiled bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. You proceed into the light-filled living room, with two seater couch, easy chair and Eames chair, which opens to french doors. All the other rooms lead off the dining room - the north facing piano room/second bedroom is fitted with a concertina privacy door that 'disappears' to given an open-plan look when not in use. The dining room opens out via french doors to a small deck, which connects by a walkway to the rear deck used by the apartment in the rear half of the house, however there is so much outdoor living space (it is a 2000sm block in total) that there are plenty of private outdoor areas to find your own spot! Comfy lounge with woodburner and opening french doors to deck Enjoy!
About Bundanoon Bundanoon is also the gateway to the beautiful and extensive Morton National park full of natural wonders and bushwalking tracks. Bundanoon has Scottish heritage and is the home annually to the festivities and Highland games of Brigadoon in April. Bundanoon is friendly and a slow living location, and we locals are proud of our gorgeous, safe, friendly and historic village. Many of us discovered the village and 'tree-changed' here from Sydney (only 90 minutes away) and I wouldn't be surprised if you have thoughts about doing the exact same thing! Creative and nature loving locals and visitors love the close access to nature and the feeling of well-being that the wonderful starry nights and misty fresh mornings and evenings bring, combined with the easy access from Sydney (by car, 90 minutes, or by train about 2 hours). The Southern Highlands offers arts, antique and second hand hunting, markets, cafes, restaurants, wineries, open gardens and side trips and beautiful drives down the escarpment to the coast or south to Canberra, west to Wombeyan Caves and other county detours such as Fitzroy Falls, Berrima, and many more.
  • This is my second time staying here, it's extremely spacious and filled with light. It is super clean and always easy clear communications. It's also a short walk 2min walk to cafes and easy to drive around different parts of southern highlands. Highly recommend staying here.

Tallong is a village in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. It is mid-way between Sydney, the capital of NSW, and Canberra, the nation’s capital. It has a population circa 800 people. Tallong is the southern highland's best-kept secret! It is small enough to provide an authentic Australian country town experience, whilst being close enough to two of Australia's capital cities. You won't feel like you are in a suburb of Sydney, like you can feel in some parts of the highlands. Tallong is home to---------- - The Tallong Midge Orchid (Genoplesium plumosum), a tiny flower found only in the area surrounding the town. This orchid is now a protected species. It was discovered in 1997. - One of the oldest surviving single-teacher schoolhouse in Australia at Tallong Public School. - The country campus of Santa Sabina College. - Two lookouts on the plateau that makes up the Shoalhaven Gorge (a 1,500-foot (460 m) which looks over the drop to the Shoalhaven River) and Morton National Park. The lookouts are known as Badgerys Lookout and Longpoint Lookout. - The big apple and host to the award-winning annual "Apple Day" festival. - An annual Tallong Trail Ride in support of the Rural Fire Service.
  • A Christmas miracle Black bird estate had everything and more. The house hosted us for Christmas and we had the best time. So much more space than we’d expected. The owners were so responsive and helped us with any queries we had. Really appreciate both your time. We would recommend anyone thinking to book here, we stayed for 7 nights and could’ve stayed forever.

    Jessie2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Blackbird estate was a home away from home. Beautiful house with everything you needed and wanted in a getaway. Shame we couldn’t stay longer to fully appreciate everything and every area. Very big home to get lost in. Octavia and Scott are wonderful hosts who were in regular contact and great communicators. Definitely recommend a stay at Blackbird estate.

  • Blackbird Estate is an amazing place to stay for large family groups. It was a perfect place for our family reunion where we had peace and quiet yet not too far from other places. Perfectly positioned for day trips to major centres. We were blown away by the native animals and birds which visit the property every day.

    Max2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is much bigger then you think looking at the photos. Plenty of room for everyone to be together or go their own way. The carport had a great amount of great firewood available. Clean house, soft carpet. butlers pantry was a great addition to the kitchen and had plenty of long life items there to use if needed. Keypad was easy to use to get into the house, WIFI worked fine and phone reception available in case you do want to talk to the outside world. Coming from south Sydney it only took me 1h40min to get there. Perfect for a weekend away... we will be back.. but will do an extra night next time !

Sutton Forest is a small country hamlet with a local pub, cafe, fruit and vegetable store and antique shop. A short drive will take you to the quaint towns of Exeter, Moss Vale, Bowral, Burrawang, Robertson and Mittagong where you’ll find an abundance of cafes, wineries, restaurants and shops. Well recognised wineries in the Sutton Forest area include Southern Highlands Winery, with its Italian inspired restaurant. This is conveniently located at the beginning of Oldbury Rd, only 3 kms from Farenden. A little further away, but still handy to Sutton Forest, there’s Cherry Tree Hill Vineyard, Eling Forest Winery, St Mair Wines, Sally’s Corner Wines, Cuttaway Hill Wines and Sutton Forest Estate Wines. Renowned local restaurants include Katers, Sutton Forest, only 7 minutes drive away, Birch, Moss Vale, 9 minutes away, and in Berrima, 20 minutes drive away, there’s Josh’s and the hatted Eschalott. All well worth trying. If gardens are your interest there is the stunning Red Cow Farm in Sutton Forest, open spring, summer and Autumn. Bush walking is a favourite activity with the locals and there are endless walking tracks in the area. Some long, some short. Some are in National Parks and State Forests, others take you along the Wingecarribee River and to the top of Mt Gibraltar and to other land marks. Something to think about doing while visiting the area.

  • Janet is an amazing host. So clean, comfortable, lovely light breakfast included. Even though it was an unusual heatwave Janet provided an extra fan which meant we slept comfortably. Highly recommend being close to all the southern highlands has to offer.

  • Janet is a wonderful host. The room is cosy, the bed comfortable and has all you need with a kitchenette and ensuite plus private access. The quiet location with not a neighbour in sight is perfect for a restful nights sleep and waking to the sounds of cows mooing and chooks clucking is blissful. Great central location for the wineries with an easy drive to Moss Vale with plenty of great places to eat. Nice homeware shops and boutiques as well if shopping is what you are after! Highlights were the Taphouse in Moss Vale, new Thai restaurant in Moss Vale, Centennial Winery and Artemis wineries. And if gin is your go, recommend Joadja Gin Distillery. Perfect place for a couple to escape for a few nights and enjoy all that the Southern Highlands has to offer.

We had one of our best sleeps ever on one of the most comfortable bed in this tastefully decorated room. We would definitely return and we highly recommend Janet’s home to anyone.
