  • The log cabin was to dieeee for! Such an amazing building with amazing decor. Everything was superb and was definitely better than we thought it would be. We were gifted with a bottle of red wine which was very kind. I’m already looking to book again. Amazing value for money.

  • Alton forest lodge was incredible. The facilities were superb and the countryside was lovely. We will be returning.

  • Far surpassed any expectations I had. With there being quite a few of us I expected to feel a bit crammed in, how wrong I was!! it was very spacious and looked brand new, there were loads of quirky books and games around to keep us entertained and the location was perfect! It was so peaceful around and the hot tub was great at night with a lovely view of the stars. We went on a walk in the forest and found a rope which was pretty fun and walked down one of the trails to a lake. I will definitely be coming back here for years to come!!

  • I am reluctant to tell the world how lovely this place is in case I can't book again myself! If you like remote but stunning settings, this is for you! Luxury accommodation in a tranquil area which we thoroughly enjoyed despite wet weather. Comfy beds, well kitted out rooms and a luxurious hot tub too! Will definitely be returning 👍

Our Wooden Lodge with Hot Tub is in Dimmingsdale forest the surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. There is lots to do like rock climbing the Churnet valley Boulders, Eating and drinking at the 5 pubs of Alton. Walking the staffordshire way or exploring the many forest tracks on your doorstep. You may want a fun packed day at Alton Towers park or spa. Cook on the BBQ, sit on your tree swing or relax in our new Hot Tub or toast marshmallows on your fire pit and listen to the owls hoot.
The lodge is luxury glamping and has 1 bedroom and 1 shower room and 1 kitchen lounge area with log burner and DVD player, Books and Games. There is a ladder to the second sleeping area. The Lodge is best suited to 2 adults or 2 adults with their 2 children because the second bed is up the ladder in the eaves and is off the lounge. It is like a large bunk bed, so adults might find it a bit cramped sleeping in the eaves bed. Outside you have a large covered veranda with table and chairs, Charbroil 4 burner infrared gas BBQ with side burner, which can cook a Christmas Turkey, Lounge chairs and a garden area with a fire pit, tree swing and New for December 2018 a Wood fired Hot Tub.
The farm is situated up a private lane on the Staffordshire way foot path. It is very peaceful and the walking is beautiful. You can save on parking charges and walk the beautiful walk to Alton Towers in 25mins. The area has fantastic mountain biking and rock climbing.
  • Sally and Andy are wonderful hosts who were always available if needed, but never imposed. Their lodge is lovely with lots of homely touches. It’s the perfect place to relax in beautiful country settings. The surrounding woodland provides plenty of opportunity for walking, and Alton has a number of nice places for a drink or evening meal. The hot tub is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break in peaceful surroundings.

  • We had a brilliant weekend here! It was just the escape we both needed. We walked into Alton and had lunch at the Ramblers Retreat (a gem) but spent the rest of the time by the fire relaxing or tucked up in bed as the heated blanket made it so cosy! We found the wood fired hot tub hard to get heated on the Friday, so on the Saturday Andy helped us out which was great and once we were in, it stayed hot for AGES! The cabin's location makes it perfect for a weekend away by the forest. Tip from us: pack minimally as storage space is minimal. If we returned, we'd try the summer so that we can make the most of the lovely outdoor space and BBQ, but we managed using just the induction hob which is a really good idea for places like this. We loved our winter weekend here. Thanks Sally and Andy (and your lovely dogs!) x

    Helen2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We visited with our two children and we all absolutely loved our stay. The place was just big enough for a short break, the kids loved the loft bedroom aspect and the hot tub worked perfectly well. Initially we thought that the hot tub would take a few attempts but it was very easy to get going and doesn't take long to heat up. The apartment was clean and had everything you need. The views are stunning and there is plenty to explore. We had lunch at the Ramblers Retreat followed by a good long walk. We would highly recommend this host and we will be coming back! Thank you Sally and Andy xx

    Aliyaa2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views and an amazing space. Sally and Andy were amazing hosts and answered every question we had! Seriously recommend this place and will definitely be rushing back!

    Millie2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, cosy, comfortable lodge situated in perfect countryside. Great for walks with the dog, or children. Andy and Sally were wonderful hosts who were happy to help. Thank you for a great stay.

    Rob2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend stay at Sally and Andy’s lodge. We were a bit nervous about finding it but we were given great instructions so managed not to get lost on the way there. We especially liked the hot tub, it took a bit of time to get it lit in the wind / dark / rain but we followed the instructions and it warmed up really nicely - it was a bonus that we could use it in the rain. Would definitely recommend the ramblers retreat for some lunch - it’s not a long walk down the road and through the trees. We also had a lovely meal at the Bulls Head in Alton which isn’t a long drive away. The communication was great despite sally and Andy not being around for the weekend, they were still on hand to answer any questions which we really appreciated. The lodge is positioned really well so that you’re tucked away enough to feel like you’re getting some privacy but close enough to the main house should you need anything. The only thing I would say is that it was the perfect size for us (just two people) but if you were planning on staying as a four it might be a bit of a squeeze. Overall a lovely place that we would definitely recommend to couples looking for a cosy weekend away :)

    Imogen2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic stay! The accommodation was clean and cosy, with everything you need for a short stay. The accommodation had lovely views and surroundings.

    Becky2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Had the best little break away here! Everything was just perfect. Hot tub was really easy to setup once we’d got going. Sally wasn’t there but made sure she called us on our way to make sure everything was great. Couldn’t ask for a better stay. Can’t wait to return xx

Dimmingsdale is an area of outstanding beauty and has 100's of acres of forests to explore. We are on the opposite valley to Alton Towers and the walk is spectacular. Alton is 10 mins by car and a beautiful 40 minute walk away where you will find to very good gastro pubs The Alton Bridge and The Royal Oak and 4 other pubs to crawl around sampling the local ales. Please take care because the lanes approaching us are very narrow and bumpy so please drive with care.
  • Absolutely beautiful location. My friend and I travelled for Alton Towers services day. The Pod was very easy to find and is set in such a peaceful area. We generally followed the satnav and it took us right to the location. We struggled with the hot tub (only because we'd never lit a fire before) but Sally was on hand to help which saved the situation. The town of Cheadle was only 5 minutes away for any amenities and shops or takeaways. Alton Towers was also a short drive which was very beneficial after a long day of walking and being thrown around on roller-coasters. Absolutely lovely stay. Thank you Sally and Andy.

    Jess2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful pod that is cosy and clean. The hot tub is a real treat and quite magical. There are plenty of great “dog” friendly pubs within walking distance and we would highly recommend a stay if you are looking for peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life! The hosts were thoughtful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Lynne2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the pod as a Christmas present for my husband since January is often a bit rubbish & we needed something to look forward to! It was everything I'd hoped for... a lovely little self contained hut with everything you might need, and a bonus jar of marshmallows to toast on the fire! The log burner kept the place cozy for when we returned from a long walk around the beautiful countryside! The wood fired hot tub worked brilliantly & was the best way to unwind in the evening; especially luxurious in the cold February night air. Sally & Andy are brilliant hosts, and were super understanding about an accidental breakage (which we have of course paid for!) I would not hesitate to return here, in fact, we have made it our goal to have 2 countryside retreats each year, so I'm certain we'll be back! Thank you x

Anyone visiting should note this is obviously a well loved family home, so has lots of personal items. For us this just added to the sense of history. The beds were very comfortable and it was lovely to wake up and be surrounded by amazing countryside. Castern Hall is a fantastic location for any groups looking for an unusual and unforgettable location for a celebration.

Chained Oak Farm is located directly opposite Alton Towers theme park and is set in its own grounds of 24 acres of woodland. The Lodge overlooks the churnet valley; the views are magnificent designated as 'an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'.
The wooden Lodge is a really unique and exciting place to stay! You have your own space with an under cover sitting area, fire pit next to a pond and a cosy wooden finished room with an en-suite bathroom! There is a fridge and bbq for your use.
Pubs, walking, endless countryside, wildlife, great for star gazing, Alton towers, Alton castle, edge of the Peak District, football/croquet lawn
  • An amazing little lodge! We arrived and Liz directed us to the lodge even though she wasn’t home. A beautiful little place to stay with a fire pit. It was mine and my boyfriends first getaway together and couldn’t have spent it anywhere better! We missed breakfast on the first morning and left the place looking rather untidy as we woke up late. When we arrived back after being at Alton Towers for the day, Liz had been in and tidied everything away and made the bed for us. I wasn’t expecting this at all but it was lovely to come back after an exhausting day and just relax. We got the fire pit going and spent most of the night next to it

    Eleanor2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing host, accomodation set in the beautiful countryside and a minutes drive from Alton towers. The breakfast was from local produce and one of the best I've had. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Alton towers

  • Our second stay at the fab cabin. Lovely, peaceful and warm, even in this awful weather! Will come back again for the summer :)

    Jess2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We can not fault our experience! Liz was an excellent host and provided just the right amount of ‘hosting’ to ensure our trip was a success. On arrival, Liz shares her excellent local knowledge and we were soon on our way (down the footpath) to the local tea shop The Ramblers Retreat, which had the best outside seating space I’ve ever seen - never mind the tasty brownies and gingerbread lattes. The cabin its self was pristinely clean and tidy and is set beside a beautiful pond area and rolling hillside which makes for relaxing sitting for seeing the evening in. The bathroom is well equipped and the water is hot! The bedroom was lovely and warm and we didn’t even need to put the electric blanket on (and we visited in feb!). We had a Chinese takeaway on the first night and Liz was really helpful with her suggestions and selection of menus. We are in the garden/breakfast room and Liz kindly provided us with plates and cutlery - and cleared away the mess! Thanks!! The lounge was available throughout our stay, which had a roaring open fire, seating and a TV with many DVDs to choose from. Breakfast in the morning was top quality with full English, fruit, yoghurts and cereals, and Liz again went above and beyond to ensure we had tried traditional Staffordshire oat cakes before we left - they were fab! Thank you Liz for a wonderful stay at the Chained Oak; we had a great stay and will be visiting again soon.

We have a Swedish hot-tub and barrel sauna in the farmhouse gardens which can be booked and hired by guests for a unique elemental experience. *IF YOU INTEND TO HIRE THE HOT TUB OR SAUNA, PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS AVAILABLE WHEN YOU BOOK* (extra cost - for price see 'other things to note' section) Through its own front door you have a small entrance hall with hanging space for coats, a cosy sitting room with log stove, books and a big flat telly if you need it. This leads to a light and comfortable kitchen dining room. This room, with its glass roof, used to be the old barrel ceilinged wash house with an old copper for heating the water. Now it has a small, simple but well equipped kitchen and a big table where you can relax and watch the cows or sheep wander past. The back door, leads up old stone steps to a tiny patio area with garden furniture, but, of course you can also enjoy the big country garden at the front of the house too. Up the main stairs there is a little landing which leads to a spacious bedroom with the best of the beautiful views across the Peak District and beyond. There is a canopied king size bed with beautifully laundered Egyptian cotton sheets in which you can oversleep and the room's en-suite bathroom has a rainfall shower. We have a large biomass boiler which provides plenty of hot-water and keeps the central heating going whenever you need it so you will be cosy and warm all year round. Walk straight from the door over beautiful Bunster hill to Dovedale and its famous stepping stones, or along the ridge of the Manifold Valley, or beyond, there are so many walks to choose from.
Swallows skimming about, the scent of homemade organic bread and a selection of local and homemade goodies are the things that may greet you when you arrive at our organic dairy farm in the Peak District National Park. Our home is a farmhouse on an organic dairy farm in the beautiful Peak District National Park. Built from local limestone the farmhouse has been added to over the centuries since the 1500's. We run our business in the most environmentally friendly way we can without compromising on comfort for our guests. In 2018 we won gold for Sustainability in the Enjoy Staffs Tourism Awards! We have a Swedish hot-tub and barrel sauna in the farmhouse gardens which can be booked and hired by guests for a unique elemental experience (make sure you reserve this when you book your accommodation as it is very popular - and does cost extra).
The farm is set in the most stunning scenery and looks over the valleys of the Peak District. There are three self catering cottages on the farm, but none are overlooked. The village of Ilam is picturesque with beautiful chocolate box Swiss style houses and past the Anglo Saxon church there is Ilam Park, a National Trust property with a lovely tearoom. Our nearest towns are Ashbourne and Leek, both market towns with quirky shops and boutiques alongside the usual shops and supermarkets. There is a host of interesting villages such as Tissington with the best traditional sweet shop ever or Hartington with a delicious farm shop cafe and legendary cheese shop. Further afield there is Bakewell, Buxton, Tideswell and Eyam. We are spoiled for choice with interesting places to visit: Chatsworth; Haddon Hall; Sudbury Hall; Go Ape; Alton Towers; Peak Wildlife Park; Coombs Valley Nature Reserve; Crich Tramway Museum or The Heights of Abraham are just a few. We are really lucky that we have some brilliant pubs and restaurants in the area for a great selection of real ale or really delicious food.
  • Lovely quiet break away just what the doctor ordered, loved the fire and cake was a lovely touch

  • This is a brilliant place to come and relax. A cosy property, great views, lovely hosts. And for us, having access to an electric car charge point was a real plus. Highly recommended.

  • We booked The old wash tub for a final break before back to work after Christmas. The cottage is lovely, welcoming and clean, in a beautiful location. It’s very quiet which is just what we wanted. Alex and rob even had cake waiting for us on arrival which was a really lovely touch! We also loved that the fire was lit and they even had a little Christmas tree in the cottage. We booked the hot tub experience which was amazing. We used it from 6pm and it was lovely and warm all evening, we enjoyed Cava and chocolates with the luxury package and candles and the fire had been lit in the cave, it was amazing! On booking I did think the extras like the hot tub prices are a little expensive, but I’m still really glad we did it, it was a lovely way to spend the evening (and of course it was our decision to book the extras, we where in no way obliged to, we just couldn’t resist!) All in all we have had a lovely weekend and have already told our friends about your lovely place. Thanks Alex and rob!

  • Great cottage and lovely people

    Jayson2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Having stayed in a number of rental cottages over the years, the Wash house, by far, comes at the top of the list in terms of quality of accommodation. Alex & Rob have created a home from home with this place, we would change nothing, top rate.

    Dave2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beechenhill Farm and the Old Wash House is an idyllic location from which to explore the upper reaches of the River Dove. Superb views across the dales and hills from the bedroom the Old Wash House is tastefully decorated, warm and cosy the Log Burner provides additional heat and enhances the relaxing atmosphere. You are guaranteed a comfortable nights sleep in the feature bedroom and the en-suite shower WC and washroom are clean and inviting with plenty of towels. High Recommended

    Andrew2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Alex & Rob's place. The communication was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does on the pictures. The local villages are conveniently located and the apartment is very quiet! Would absolutely recommend to stay there! Will certainly revisit in the summer months!

    Cam2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay, spacious, all the amenities and more, lovely hosts, we couldn’t have asked for a better trip! We were very well looked after, the hosts went above and beyond. The location is stunning and there is so much to do nearby - with personal favourites given from the hosts - and their recommendations should definitely be followed! Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away and we will definitely be coming back.

Charming, cosy stone cottage on the outskirts of Wetton, adjacent to a pre 1700 farmhouse. Lovely views of surrounding countryside. Great base for exploring this beautiful part of the White Peak, very popular with walkers and cyclists. Ideal for couples or single guests. Has a galleried double bedroom with shower and toilet. Downstairs there is an open plan sitting/diner with kitchen area. Featuring beamed ceilings. Small south facing sitting out area and off road parking.
Well behaved pets are welcome but please bear in mind that Wetton is a working farming village and livestock will be around various fields throughout the year. Pam and Joh your hosts have lived here for 33 years and are keen to share the information they have gathered over time with you/
Wetton is so well centred at the heart of the White Peak and is surrounded by stunning hills and dales, which just have to be seen. The village also benefits from a great pub serving guest ales and an award winning village hall tea rooms.
  • John is an exceptional host, we had very warm welcome and John gave us great local tips which we used. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed including nice electric stove that kept us warm and cosy. The nature and all walks were on our door step - the beautiful Dove Valley and caves . We used the car only once to go to a near village pub, the Black Lion in Butterton , that had amazing food and has very friendly local atmosphere. The Royal Oak in Wetton was lovely and very friendly. Had breakfast in the Tea Room in the village - excellent! In all it was great stay!

  • Had the most relaxing stay beautiful place in a tiny village if you value peace and quiet this is the place ideal base for walking or cycling . Lovely touches when you arrive fresh bread, milk, butter and small bottle of fizz. The village has a pub which is ideal, no shops which for me I loved. Would highly recommend as a single traveller very safe and the local people are so friendly, a place to turn your mobile off get back to the great outdoors and take in all the countryside has to offer

    Robert2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Johns place “Fred’s Shed” was a beautiful, peaceful place to stay for a thoroughly relaxing time . John is the most friendliest host and the welcome he gave us was lovely. We highly recommend the local pub for friendliness and definitely for the food as the old school tea rooms for breakfast. The views are totally gorgeous around Wetton. Thankyou for a lovely weekend.

    Heather2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay at John and Pam's Airbnb. We were blown away by the many thoughtful touches on arrival and they gave us all the local tips we needed to make the most of the area. The place itself is lovely - clean, cosy, had everything we needed and was in an ideal location for enjoying the Peaks. We loved everything about our stay.

    Jess2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable, very welcoming. Would be happy to return.

    Margaret2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • John and Pam's cottage is an absolute gem, the welcome we received as we entered the cottage on the evening of Valentine's day was so incredibly thoughtful with 2 roses and a platter of valentine's nibbles, candles (though bring your own matches!), heart fairy lights and a well stocked fridge of butter, bread, eggs and milk was so much more than we could have expected. The cottage was plenty warm enough in the middle of storm Dennis, and has a wonderfully cosy feel to it in general. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

    Jessica2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • John’s place is a wonderful cottage in a wonderful setting. Extremely peaceful but full of so much adventure. John is a great host and has lots of tips on where to go. The Royal Oak pub is a must and so is the town halls cafe. The personal touches in the cottage made it feel ‘just like home’. This was my first air B&B and I would definitely love to return.

    Hannah2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, lots of local walks. Very comfortable and cosy, John was fantastic and so helpful. The little breakfast drawer, milk and bread was appreciated! Alongside the little bottle of Prosecco and nibbles, it was the perfect stay for the end of our travels! Thank you so much, would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere in the Peak District!

  • Absolutely beautiful little cottage, perfect little break away from city life with my dogs! Pru and Chris were so welcoming and helpful! Lots of nice touches (such as the toiletries and doggy treats). I really wish we could have stayed longer. Location was amazing, we had a beautiful walk, even though the weather was wet and windy! Would definitely recommend!

Nestled by a riverbank on the edge of the Peak District. A beautiful character cottage with beamed ceilings, stone floors and handmade wooden doors throughout. All mod cons; log burning stoves; aga and cosy rooms to relax.
The cottage has parking out front for 3 cars. The river is across the lane and a lovely spot to relax. It is warm and cosy in winter with an aga, oil fired heating, two mixed fuel burners and an open fire. There is one family room with a king size bed and bunk beds; one smaller double and a master double with wood stove. There is one bathroom upstairs with shower and bath. The downstairs bathroom has a corner spa bath with music system and speakers in the ceiling.
We are 7 miles from Alton Towers and in between the two beautiful towns of Leek and Ashbourne with plenty of boutique shops and places to eat and drink. The nearest village with shop and pub is less than 2 miles away. As this area is popular with tourists, there are plenty of great restaurants, pubs and shops all within 10 miles.
  • This cottage was a little slice of heaven on earth! As quaint as you can get, and a beautiful setting in the Peaks. Eleanor was a perfect host, and had left lovely touches for our arrival - we felt very looked after! As a Brit living abroad, you can imagine my joy at arriving for xmas a the cottage and having a box of M&S Chocolate biscuits to greet me! I would highly recommend this cottage. Clean, cute, and everything you needed.

  • this is a wonderful cottage, full of charm. to have the stove on cooking and the fires lit after a long walk in the country was a real treat. eleanor popped to see us when we arrived and gave us some tips on how to work the stove and to show us where the logs were. all in all we could not fault it. if you are in the area, then this is a great choice whether there is two of you or a small crowd.

  • Eleanor's cottage is a lovely place, with plenty of space for our all adult group. The beds were comfy and the dining room was a perfect space for our big meals! We stayed here to be close to Alton Towers and it was a perfect distance. Eleanor is a great host, quick to respond and very friendly. The welcome basket was also a lovely treat!

It's the perfect place for relaxing and a great base for exploring the Peak District and all its attractions. There's something for everyone here from the splendours of Chatsworth House to the thrills of Alton Towers.
Grindon is a small, quiet, picturesque hamlet, surrounded by beautiful countryside. There are some lovely pubs within a 10 minute drive and Leek (20 minutes away) has a great selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants, many of which are dog friendly.
  • A lovely rural location, very quiet! Plenty of beautiful places to visit within a 15-30 minute drive. Bern was a very friendly and helpful host. Perfect place for a countryside getaway.

  • A lovely cottage in peaceful surroundings.

    Justin2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was an absolute gem. A perfectly quaint little bungalow with a modern but cosy interior. Not only did Nic and Bern provide all the information we needed to get the most out of the surrounding area, but they thoughtfully left instructions on how to get the most out of the house (specifically regarding the log fire which was a god send in February!). As hosts, they were friendly and helpful without being at all invasive. The house itself was perfectly furnished with everything you could possibly need, including things we didn’t expect like the hot water bottle and the flask. Thank you so much for hosting us, we hope to come back soon.

    Sophie2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A cosy and well equipped little cottage in beautiful surroundings with friendly hosts. The cottage is a perfect base for exploring the Peak District. We stayed in February and made good use of the log burner in the evenings. We will definitely book again.

    Jennie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you want somewhere to rest and recharge this is the place. Perfectly situated so it was easy to travel throughout the Peak District. Bakewell and Leek both within easy and quick drives. The cottage is perfectly set out with the living room comfy and cozy, especially with the fire going. We took some DVDs and it was the perfect hide away. The cottage was super clean and comfortable, highly recommended and we will definitely be back. Maybe in the summer so we can sit out on the little patio and admire the gorgeous view.

    Grace2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 5 nights at the Wayward cottage over the Christmas period, the cottage is beautiful - bedroom, lounge and kitchen are cosy yet spacious, there's a wood burner and central heating so keeping warm was really simple. The cottage is situated right next to the farm where the hosts live, so even though it's remote we didn't feel isolated. We did a 7 mile walk on Christmas eve, taking in Wetton Mill and Butterton where we ate at the Black Lion. Fab place, will definitely return as the Shepherd's huts are intriguing us.

    Desmond2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a lovely mini break at Nic and Berns cottage! The cottage itself made a lovely base, the log fire being a particular highlight on chilly November nights! The eggs were also delicious!! Nic and Bern were very hospitable, providing lots of useful information on walks in the local area. We visited Leek one day too, nice little shops to shelter from the rain in on a wet afternoon! Would recommend !

    Sarah2019-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • A sweet little cottage in a spectacular location. Bern and Nic were welcoming and tended to every need we had- they even left us eggs from the chickens on the farm! Going down to Leek is a must, the coffee at Cafe No5 is wonderful and the homemade chocolates from Misco’s are unbelievable- we went on the Friday and then had to go back on the Saturday to get more! We had the best time in this cottage and are even planning a return trip already. 😍

  • Me and my friends had the most wonderful time at the Beechenhill Farm! The cottage is really beautiful and cosy, beds are incredible comfortable, great water pressure and all cleaning products are environmentally friendly, we really appreciated all the attention given towards sustainability and felt the connection with nature here. We had a night we will never forget in the hot tub and sauna and can’t thank Alex, Rob, Terry and Sue Prince (your paintings are beautiful!) for the amazing hospitality - they took really really good care of us and we felt incredibly welcomed. We got to see a calf that was born on the night we arrived which was magical. The area is of outstanding beauty and we will cherish our memories from our weekend there forever. Can’t thank you enough for everything!

Our small but comfortable 1 bedroom cottage is situated at the edge of a village. It has spectacular views across the valley and is in easy reach of interesting places to visit such as Chatsworth House, Alton Towers and the Peak District.
Situated on the edge of a village, at the end of a private lane you will find your holiday retreat. On the ground floor is the kitchen, a double bedroom and the bathroom. Up the stairs is the living room with views over the valley. The Wolery has all the modern conveniences that you need for a relaxing holiday.
Situated at the edge of a village in the unspoilt and little know area that is the Staffordshire Moorlands. The Wolery is a comfortable walking distance from the local, well stocked village shop and 3 very good pubs, who are happy to welcome dogs. The Marquis of Granby and The Red Lion offer good choice menu and prices. The village is situated close to cycle paths nearby where there is safe cycling for miles. Also, locally there are fishing pools and clay pigeon shooting ranges should you wish to try countryside pursuits.

  • The Wolery is a wonderful place to stay. My partner and myself came for Alton Towers but there are so many lovely walks and other things to do in the area we did some exploring too - helped by all the guides left by Michelle. The cottage is lovely, really clean and cosy and in a quiet location, the directions provided are definitely necessary but it's so worth it! The little touches with the milk, butter and cookies were so appreciated and made our stay so comfortable. We'd love to visit again!

Bijou guest house, in splendid isolation! Stay in our converted piggery, built out of local stone and set in lovely grounds on the edge of Ipstones. Set back from a narrow country road which is barely trafficed, you will feel the stresses of modern life slip away. The Piggery is decorated as a tiny house, complete with its own shower and toilet and warmed by underfloor heating. The Piggery is a great base for visits to Alton Towers, The Peak District, The Potteries and for outdoor pursuits.
We are in the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands, with walks into the Churnet valley on the door step. In September you can hear the resident stags rutting in the Churnet woods when the sun starts to set. You could walk down to Frogall by the canal and steam railway watching out for Kingfishers and with an ear open for woodpeckers. Hetty's tearoom is a lovely cafe/restaurant, recently opened in an old mill-building on the canal, which serves fabulous light snacks (the obligatory Staffordshire oatcake!) and a variety of cakes, including gluten free. We are 15 mins from the spectacular Roaches, with lovely walks of elevation, gritstone and heathers. (Stop off at The Lazy Trout in Meerbrook for excellent food). Ilam and Dovedale are highly recommended as a pretty but unique Staffordshire village with the famous stepping stones and flat topped hill. Our family lived there for generations, so Dad or I can probably bore the bones of you with Ilam knowledge! I'll leave it for you to ask... For cyclists the area is superb! There are many routes, challenging hill climbs and great training ground for serious competitors. For those after something more leisurely, try the Manifold Valley cycle track, through the cast scenery of the White Peaks. look out for Thor's Cave and sit by the river at the Manifold cafe with a refreshment. For gardeners I recommend a visit to Trentham Gardens, quite breathtaking planting in the restored gardens by Europe's finest designers (and also attractive cabin retail units). Locally, Consall Hall at the head of the Churnet Valley has beautiful landscaped gardens, splendid in Spring with the Rhodedendrons and Azalaes in flower. The iconic Chatsworth Hall is a lovely country drive away and for those looking for Instrusrial history, Stoke-on -Trent is the place for you! Gladstone Pottery is an excellent museum, I don't know anyone who hasn't been fascinated with a day there, or come home without having tried to throw a pot or paint a china flower! Emma Bridgewater, she of the spotty mugs, has breathed some life back into Stoke with her highly successful factory. It is worth a visit to the factory shop and the boho/Industrial cool cafe and decorating studio. After all that you will be so glad to sink onto the super comfy double bed or sip some wino on the patio, fire pit blazing and soak up the complete peace and quiet.
Ipstones is a pretty village in the Staffordshire moorlands with a thriving community spirit. With three pubs, a shop and butchers to cater for your needs, friendly locals abound and frequent music nights (Sunday night acoustic night at The Sea Lion). The walking surrounding The Piggery is excellent - it is just off the Staffordshire Way, on the doorstep of Consall and Froghall Warf, which use the industrial heritage to great use with canal cafes and pubs and steam railway. The ale rail is a great way to enjoy what local beers and ciders are around with a trip on the train! f you don't want to think about cooking on your break we have two pubs which serve food in the village ( and one for people looking for a traditional local with a great range of whisky). They are 10 minutes walk down the country lane, so park up and potter down! I recommend The Marquis of Granby for a great meal at really good prices. it is popular round here though, so booking is necessary! There are a many other recommendations around, with Leek, Ashbourne , Cheadle and Buxton offering plenty for every palette.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Piggery. Easy to find, everything you could wish for for a short stay. Made to feel at home straightaway and great information about the local area. Some clever design makes it feel bigger than you think inside with its high ceilings and sky lights and the heated floor is lovely! Will definitely be returning!

  • Cute little getaway! Phillipa was quick at responding and recommending places for us to eat nearby. Great surroundings, bonus with the sheep and horses!

    Elizabeth2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The piggery is in a lovely setting with plenty of walks in the village.

    Daniel2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to stay. Everything you could need for a short break. And the underfloor heating was a delight!

    Gary2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place for a couple of 2 to spend a night, it’s so cosy and warm and you feel at home as soon as you walk in the door, we was greeted so warmly and made feel comfortable straight away! We was recommended a few places to eat where we could get dinner and breakfast, the host was so lovely and he made sure we literally had everything we needed and he didn’t let us leave without saying goodbye and asking how everything was, I don’t have 1 bad thing to say about this place! 100% would recommend and if I’m ever in the area again I would definitely come back!

    Chantal2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little place with all the amenities you could possibly need, fully equipped with a fridge, stove, kettle & microwave (which certainly came in handy). Unfortunately our car broke down leaving us stranded, Pip was kind enough to offer us a lift to Alton Towers in the morning, really going above and beyond to save what was otherwise a bit of a disaster of a trip. Thank you Pip, we'll certainly be back under better circumstances!!

    James2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Piggery is compact but contains everything you need for a short stay. Pip was lovely and very welcoming. It was quite basic as it's such a bijou little place but this wasn't an issue as it was just a place to stay after a long day out. The bed was very comfortable with nice bedding and everything was clean. The location on a farm was great and even though the main dwelling is right next door privacy was not an issue. The nearest shop and pubs were a short walk away down a lane and through the village and Ipstones is well placed for trips into the Staffordshire countryside or into the Peak District.

    Louise2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We found the place beautiful and clean and my daughter loved meeting the pony and horse, the hosts son walked us around and had a good chat with us and was very nice to talk to. Just what we needed

  • Thanks Craig and family for a brilliant stay. Easy check in, met at the gate with the code and shown all of the facilities. What you see is what you get: cosy room with beds, seating and kitchenette. The weather was awful when I was there and still very warm and cosy inside. Toilets/ showers/ washing up all so clean. Will definitely be back!

    Josie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Friendly and easy to contact host. Lovely area with great access to Alton Towers Very comfy beds (more so than expected from a bunk bed) Enough of a kitchen to cook some food, microwave, electric hob, kettle and toaster. The heater is more than enough for the space and there is a radio supplied Lovely quiet area and surrounds - expect a great nights sleep Little bit hard to find in the dark, so plan ahead and scout the road it is on with google maps and it is easy. (directions given on the page are spot on mind so might have been us)

    Roger2019-11-10T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely place to stay - beautiful farm, lovely free range eggs and firewood to have a fire (small cost, v cheap). Friendly hosts. Highly recommended!

    Lydia2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a spectacular location! We used this as a base for a few days in Alton Towers but the surrounding area is perfect for walkers etc. The accommodation was well equipped, with the toilet and washing up facilities (which were sparkling clean) only 15 seconds walk. A secure site with parking right outside the building. Lovely and warm. The host Craig was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

    Carly2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation is very well located to know the Peak District. The place is very cozy and equipped with everything you need to spend a few days in the tranquility of the countryside. Very safe and clean. It has heating and very nice view. The owners very friendly and attentive. Easy to reach and accommodation with a very special charm. We recommend it 100%. And above all do not stop buying the eggs they sell from their own farm.

    Begona2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at the camping barn. Was a last minute booking but everything was much better than described. Security onto the site was very good with number plate recognition on first barrier and a code to use to get through second. Beds were unexpectedly made up on arrival which was lovely, heating great and enough cooking essentials, a toaster, microwave and a counter top hob to make a good meal for a family after a day out at Alton Towers (which is only a few miles away) There is a very short walk across a well lit courtyard to toilet, shower and laundry washing facilities but all fully accessible even at night and spotlessly clean, well stocked and maintained. Definitely booking again in future. Thank you Craig

  • Mount pleasant farm is a truly unique and special place! Emily is super kind and helpful and we had a lovely stay -so cosy and we slept soooo well!

    Olivia2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful shepherd's huts at the edge of the peak district. Kitchen and bathroom facilities exceptional for a shared campsite block. From the placement of the huts, down to the lovely sinks in the toilet block, everything is thoughtfully designed, beautifully rustic. Emily and the others (and also the resident pigs, sheep, horse, donkey and chickens) were beyond welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Really well located, we were able to travel there on a public minibus from Ashbourne. We also took day hike to the village of Ilam and the Dovedale stepping stones (a moderately gentle hike along public footpaths - absolutely stunning views and passing through a lovely national trust park) and were back in time for tea! Couldn't recommend this place more!

    Maddie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Emily was a brilliant host - so friendly and thoughtful. The accommodation is really comfortable with lots of sweet touches. We had a great New Year here - enjoying the brilliant pub nearby, followed by a cosy fire back at the hut. We couldn't recommend more highly to anyone looking for a remote escape! Thank you! :)

  • We had a wonderful, peaceful stay in Onecote. The cottage is entirely self contained on Jo's farm, tucked away down a long lane. Check in and communication was all excellent. The property was lovely and warm, clean, and comfortable- we especially enjoyed the chaise sofa. There were some very nice touches, including fresh bread, spreads, croissants, juice, eggs, and plenty of other helpful things in the cupboard. We highly recommend the Jervis Arms pub, just 5 mins walk down in the village.

    Gina2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage nestled on the end of the peaks. Great attention to detail (underfloor heating in the bathroom, thoughtful local guide, stylish touches throughout) Jo’s large farmhouse is next door (you’re on what seems to be a working farm) but the cottage feels private & Jo is very concessions & friendly. Wonderful walks & countryside on your doorstep (highly recommend The Roaches) The Jervis Arms pub (8 min walk) is very atmospheric & stylish (not cheap but very good & friendly) We had a lovely break & will recommend you others.

    David2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jo’s place was an absolute gem. The photos in the description do not to the cottage any justice. It’s extremely private & quiet, the space is very generous and the cottage is really beautiful. We were very impressed with the whole experience and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in luxury accommodation. 250 stars ...!

    Johnny2020-01-07T00:00:00Z

Winnow Nook is nestled in a small hamlet that lies within the Peak District National Park. It's set in the most stunning scenery overlooking the surrounding countryside. Two cheeky goats live in the farmyard and the chickens, donkeys, sheep and occasional pigs can all be found around the farm. Outside the window to the west you'll often find the local cows, sheep and most amazing sunsets. It's incredibly quiet on the farm now apart from the occasional 'Baa', 'Oink', 'meeoooow' or 'Eyore from our pets.
Most of our guests are amazed by the spectacular scenery, quietness and the darkness showing off the stars at night! The scenery is breathtaking and with footpaths crossing the farm it's possible to walk for miles without taking the car. Even complete with some very friendly goats! It made my partner’s birthday weekend even more special. Thank you Andrea for an amazing stay, we would recommend this cottage to anyone.

25 Riverside is a cosy 2 bedroom terrace cottage situated in the picturesque village of Oakamoor. It is the perfect retreat to explore the beautiful footpaths of Dimmingsdale, The Churnet Valley, The Peak District and alternatively just 1.7 miles away from The Alton Towers Resort. The village pub is a few minutes walk away and all amenities are available in the market town of Cheadle 5 minutes drive from the house.
  • Warm and welcoming With its real fire and tasteful decoration This cozy cottage was the perfect base to explore the beautiful local countryside. It has all the amenities you could think of and is right by the river, the hosts were very welcoming. Highly recommended.

  • A cosy little hideaway with a riverside view. Very friendly area with lovely walks and a fantastic tearoom near by with unmissable cakes. Great communication too.

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • You will not be disappointed if you stay in this extremely comfortable and cosy cottage. Situated right by the river it offers peace and tranquility and is on the doorstep to beautiful surroundings. The kitchen is lovely and all the extras you need can be found in the pantry. If you are taking a break from a city, this cottage is ideal for peace and quiet, woodland walks, towns with amenities close by. I highly recommend staying in beautiful Oakamoor.

  • Excellent host and space. Really quick and friendly communication, a really nice place to stay with everything you can need and easy access to some nice walks. Can’t recommend enough!

    James2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful area, lovely cosy living room and bedrooms, perfect for a couple or a small family. I went with my daughter and my dog and it was perfect! Stairs are steep but there is a handrail

    Derek2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy little property, the log burner was a treat, combined with the lovely comfy sofas, it was a fantastically relaxing weekend. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom toasty warm thanks to the excellent underfloor heating. The walk along the disused railway line was particularly relaxing. The village itself is lacking in amenities however so be sure to bring with you anything you may need.

    Jon2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned home from a 3 night stay. The house is lovely and clean and has everything you need. The local area is beautiful and there are lots of local walks right from the front door. The hosts are very friendly and have gone above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely stay. Can’t recommend this house and hosts enough :)))

    Catherine2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little cottage with ample parking on the street and all the extra little touches you’ll need inside. The cottage was immaculate! We felt at home straight away. It is in a lovely little village but is only 5 minutes drive from other slightly bigger villages which are well worth a visit. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for being a wonderful host Olivia.

Waterproof boots and touch essential. Like camping but in a hut.
Like camping but in a shepherd hut with a double bed. Off grid and basic.
In the countryside but close to Leek (one mile, 20 minutes easy walking).
  • Wonderful stay in the hut! A very unique experience, with all needs met. Lovely place to slow down and enjoy life's simple pleasures!

    Carlie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The hut is lovely, we visited in sept and were still cosy and warm. Dogs loved the field to run around in and we enjoyed this tranquil place. Thank you

    Hannah2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully simple! The perfect place to stay if you want a basic break. The shepards hut is great with comfy double bed and all of the kitchen amenities you need. There is a great little fit pit and small gas camping hob. The little compost toilet is great and there is a shower in the dairy barn which can be used for £1. Beautiful views from the hut as well as its secluded location made it the perfect place to escape. Alison was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. She topped up our drinking water each day and restocked the fire. Would definitely recommend!

    Jenny2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Alison’ shepherd Guy was just wonderful. It came with everything we needed- camping stove, pots and pans (and also pans for the tripod cooking stand over the fire), cutlery, mugs, glasses, washing up bowl etc. Alison has made the whole set up herself and it is beautifully finished with lovely touches such as coat hooks, a book shelf and a solar battery for lights inside the hut. It was perfect for us because we wanted to be close to walks and the beauty of the peak district, but not have to camp because of the weather. The hut was cosy and warm when we came back from a wet day, and on the dry nights having a fire was so lovely. Bring some pound coins if you need to use the dairy shower! It has hot water and was so needed for a hair wash. If your expectations are to have a “camping vibe” with some extra comforts then this is the place! We loved it and will go back again. Thanks Alison!

You have a lovely kingsize bedroom to yourself, with a window overlooking the front garden. There is a bathroom right next door with a bathtub and separate shower. The kitchen is available for use and so is the living room (although please take your shoes off when entering the living room due to very luxurious carpets...)
The house is set in a lovely peaceful location in Oakamoor, Staffordshire. A local pub and some great walks are only a stone throw away. Alton Towers is no more than a 5 minute drive away.
  • Great stay at Robb’s, great location, we were staying to visit Alton Towers which was just 4 mins away, perfect! Had the place to ourselves so didn’t get to meet our host, but plenty of communication kept us in the loop with instructions etc. Would definitely stay again.

  • FANTASTIC location for Alton Towers!! My daughter & I stayed here while we visited Alton towers & the water park. It’s just a stone throw away. The house is lovely & big, very quite, pretty village. Room was big, clean, cosy & warm. We didn’t get the chance to explore, but there seemed to be some lovely places to visit. Would highly recommend

  • Lovely room and the perfect location for a trip to Aton Towers.

    Emma2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay, the house is really beautiful. Little one loved all the toys in the living room and had an amazing time. It was really easy to find and literally 5min drive from Alton Towers. We haven’t met Robbert as he couldn’t make to meet us but left us clear notes of where everything is and how all works. The only downside we had was that we ordered takeaway from Cheadle Pizza place and we had hair in the food so do not get the food from there.

    Evelina2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for the night before a day at Alton Towers and had a lovely time. Robb was very quick to answer my questions on how to get to the house and had wonderful tips on local eateries.

    Brian2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • A truly wonderful place

    Esther2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A really great stay. Perfectly located for trips to Alton Towers. Robbert was helpful and accommodating from the start. He helpfully put in an additional mattress for the room. He was sadly away when we stayed allowing us use of the lounge which was an added bonus. I highly recommend Robbert's place.

Miss Honey's Tin Tent oozes vintage charm. She is perfect for those day trips you wish wouldn't end. Book in and continue the fun. Only 10 minutes from Alton Towers and Dovedale.
Situated on our farm campsite overlooking the fields. We're right at the top looking over open fields. We get some amazing sunsets!
  • Lovely and quirky place to stay!

    Clare2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. Although the weather was very windy and cold, we stayed warm and cosy inside the tin tent. Our girls really enjoyed meeting all the animals.

  • Emily went above and beyond to cater for a scheduling issue. We look forward to visiting soon.

    Yuwadee2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Emily was a fantastic host. She met us in the darkness and made sure we were all settled in for the night before leaving us. The beds were very comfortable and our boys enjoyed a real adventure making their bunks into a den and bedding down for a cold winter’s night. In the morning, Emily was brilliant again, taking the boys around all the animals to say hello. The place was really convenient for us after a day’s walking too.

    Emma2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Emily’s place is an amazing and truly unique place to stay. Lots of very interesting things to look at around the campsite and Emily herself couldn’t have been more helpful. The cooking facilities were amazing and I would highly recommend 👍🏻.

    Lauren2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for our daughters 9th birthday, we all had such a wonderful time. We will be returning in the summertime. It was so lovely and cosy, even with the storm outside. Cleanliness 10/10. Shower/toilet block facilities excellent. We had a truly magical stay.

    Karley2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant place! Highly recommended. Kids will love it too ☺️

    Charly2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy place to stay. We fit our family of 4 (including baby). It was tight but that just made it cosier. Our 6 year old loved seeing the animals. The communal kitchen on the site was also really well done and very useful as the weather was a bit cold and misty. We did manage to have a fire though and Emily even gave us marshmallows to roast! A great location and I'm sure we'll stay again.

However, if you want a break away from it all and some peace and quiet/relaxation with loads of walks - we’ve got you covered. Right, we'll make you a promise. We won't fill this listing with loads of buzz words you see on ALLLLL the other Airbnb listings. We'll let the pictures do the talking. :) The downstairs is open-plan and has central heating throughout. There's a large dining table which can seat up to 8 people which is great for a nice meal together after a long walk or hike. The master bedroom has a double bed and a double sofa bed. • Sharon's converted barn was just so comfortable, spacious, modern and practical. The whole place is really new and wonderfully done up, with lots of interesting design features. The kitchen was well equipped and the dining space was stylish yet cozy. The bedrooms were big, sadly no ensuite, but the single bathroom was great. Beds were comfy (but very soft) and linen great quality. The place has a great wiew from outside over the rolling hills and it was very quiet. It was really easy to find if following your GPS and there is parking right outside. Lots of thoughtful touches around the place. Good location to use for exploring the Peak District. Sharon was a great host, very helpful and providing all the information we needed. Overall, it was a great stay and given the chance I would book again.

  • The location of the house is breathtaking on a hill with panoramic views. The house inside is so so clean and has everything you need in the kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. There are two bedrooms plus a large, narrow luggage room with a pitched roof that we fit two blow up beds into for two young children. There is a fourth large cupboard with space for luggage. Directions we received were perfect and the little homely touches like tea, coffee, sugar and milk after a long drive were so nice. Hosts were lovely and welcoming and very quick to get back to us when we asked a question. We used the house as a base for Alton Towers, which took about 15 mins to get to so perfect. Thanks so much for having us well definitely be back in the summer for longer this time. Xx

  • Sharon’s cottage is such a beauty both inside and outside. Amazing views, very stylish place and great hosts. Will definitely recommend to all my friends!

  • Excellent place could not recommend high enough. Everything you could need for a stay.

    Andy2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here with our friends and we were all thoroughly impressed by Sharon’s barn conversion. It has been finished to a high standard throughout and was a pleasure to stay in. Sharon provided helpful local information and was quick to respond. The views from the property were amazing and there are some lovely places to visit nearby. I would highly recommend staying here and would certainly look to stay again. We had a wonderful stay.

    Pennie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • From the pictures alone, I was sure this place was going to be nice, but it definitely exceeded expectations. Everything about it felt luxurious and a lot of thought seemed to have gone into making our stay comfortable. The house itself is stunning, downstairs is all open plan with a really handy utility room for removing muddy boots. There were lots of lovely homely touches like candles and flowers. The kitchen was fully kitted out with all the pots and pans you need but Sharon had also provided the little things you forget to bring like salt and pepper, dishwasher tabs and detergent for the washing machine. There was also some milk in the fridge and tea so we could have a cuppa as soon as we arrived. Upstairs is also stunning, very spacious and it all looked brand new with lovely, thick carpet. The beds were extremely comfy, fluffy pillows and super soft bedding. After long days out in the cold and rain we were able to come back for a nice hot bath, we loved that Sharon had provided luxury bubble bath (which happened to be my favourite), as well as shower gel, shampoo and body lotion. Also bathroom cleaning products provided too. The location is amazing, the views are beautiful and there is so much to do, we definitely could have stayed longer and will be returning. We're a family with young children so in the few days we were there we did bike riding, visited Peak Wildlife Park, travelled to Matlock for the Heights of Abraham and had some pub grub. Sharon provided plenty of info about the local area, where to eat and taxi info. It's the perfect place to stay for a family or a couple if you love the outdoors. Sharon was a fantastic host. We felt like she was close enough by in case we needed anything, but we were left to it and felt right at home.

Rock Cottage is a cosy hideaway for two in the glorious Peak District. Situated in the hamlet of Hopedale, it is a short walk from the lovely village of Alstonefield, where the owners live. It has period charm with beams and old stone fireplace. It is a detached cottage with wood burner, fully equipped kitchen, private patios and parking. The are many lovely walks in Dovedale and the Manifold Valley directly from your door.
  • Outstanding place and host, Gordon couldn’t have been more helpful. Perfect place for some fantastic walks in the peaks district!

    Charlotte2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect location for exploring the peaks. The cottage is very clean and cosy, with everything needed to make the stay comfortable. There is a great pub within 20 paces and plenty of walks straight from the doorstep. I hope to visit again soon.

    Erin2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tasteful cottage in a delightful secluded part of the Peak District. Perfect for a relaxing break and for hikes!

    Daniel2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Delightful cottage. Preparation was immaculate - logs for the fire, food in the freezer, spotlessly clean and tips on where to walk/eat. Couldn’t be better!

    Andrew2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time at Gordon's cottage. Everything was as described and expected with nice touches throughout. There's no mobile phone reception in the hamlet so make sure you store all the info you need offline before you set off (Gordon thought ahead of our schoolboy error and waited for us in the pub next door). Pub next door is cosy with no music, a nice wood-burner fireplace and a good selection of tapa's if you don't fancy cooking yourselves. Would recommend to any couple wanting a short getaway with good local walks available.

    Walter2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A cute and cosy cottage with lots of local walks - perfect for a peaceful weekend in the Peak District.

    Sophie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Rock Cottage was the perfect place to stay for a couple's getaway. The cottage is conveniently right next to the Watts Russel Arms; we booked dinner there which was a delicious selection of tapas. They also have great beers on draft and the owners are very nice. The cottage itself is very thoughtfully decorated throughout with consistent and warming theming/colours. The same cohesion and quality can be found in the kitchen, right down to the appliances; nothing in the cottage felt cheap or out of place. I happened to find Gordon in the pub on arriving, he was very helpful and kind with his instructions and recommendations. I would urge anyone arriving after dark to park up at the pub rather than attempting to find the parking and cottage! Very good stay, would certainly return!

    Cory2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage, great log burner and we were lovely and warm. Lots of character, would love to return in the summer for a bottle of wine on the patio. Great location in the middle of some fantastic walks you won't need to get in your car. It was a novelty having a pub next door to pop in for some drinks in the evening, and another one at Wetton which we visited for lunch on our circular walk.

  • Vivienne was a great host, very friendly! I would recommend this place as a weekend break. Hot tub was lovely and the log burner was such a nice touch after a day out. Breakfast was also included which was so helpful. The lodge was clean, tidy and with everything you would need for the weekend - just as you expect and from an experienced host. We don’t use Airbnb much but we should do after this latest trip.

    Rich2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just perfect. Viv made us feel at home from the second we arrived. Firstly, we arrived very late and this was not a problem at all... the hot tub was fired up and a cute breakfast hamper ready for the morning. It was my partners birthday and there was some extra special touches to make it even more perfect. The place is super clean and very cosy. Spot on for a quiet romantic weekend away from a busy life with hosts that have just thought of everything. 100% recommend to all x

  • Our stay at Lavender & Bee was simply glorious! The location was so secluded, the view was beautiful hills with sheep, bluetits and rabbits! The hut itself is simply charming, with such attention to detail we didn't want for anything. Viv and Chaz even left us a bottle of bubbles and a delicious cake as well as lots of other luxuries to enjoy. Everything is so beautifully stylish, it felt like a swanky hotel. My husband and I stayed for 3 days, our first away without the kids for a number of years, and it was exactly what we needed - the peace and quiet, the comfort and the fabulous hot tub all meant that our time was very special, something we hope to repeat at Lavender & Bee again soon!

Rain or shine they have created a fantastic little space that you can really enjoy in the beautiful countryside. If it’s your first time in the area or staying in a shepherds hut with outdoor cooking, a wood fired hot tub and eco loo. Vivienne provides the most helpful bits of information and is always on hand to help. Providing information about the local area of things to do and places to eat. How to use the eco loo and hot tub, providing more than enough wood. Even helpful recipes to try out the outdoor kitchen. Everything you could want or need to make your stay comfortable is right there. Would 100% go back to stay in a heartbeat 💗 loved everything about our stay. Hopefully you will too.

A beautiful and unique glamping caravan located in the Peak District. During summer time it is set in a well mown field and during winter it is set on a hard standing pitch. With the river by the edge of the field and hundreds of rural walks on the doorstep ‘Annabelle’ has a lot to offer. 8 miles to Alton Towners, a 5 minute walk to the manifold trail, 3 amazing pubs in close walking distance, a village shop and a chip shop a 2 minute walk away. We have it all. NO ARRIVALS AFTER 9pm!
    All
Located in a small village with everything in walking distance.
  • A comfortable and homely caravan. Charlotte is a fantastic host, the welcome hamper was lovely thank you! The oven doesn't work so come prepped with one-pot recipes! Great facilities and well equipped caravan.

  • Our stay at Annabelle was our first every stay in a caravan/motorhome... We did have our doubts about how the experience would be, but it turned out great! Charlotte's motorhome was so stylishly decorated and she was very helpful too... Must say it is a very memorable experience staying in a motorhome with your loved ones:)

Dalemore is an attractive stone cottage overlooking a cobbled ford in the secluded Peak District village of Butterton, in the heart of stunning walking and cycling country. The cottage can accommodate up to 6 adults, with 2 bedrooms, 1 King, 1 twin and a full size double sofa bed in the sitting room. There is a wood burner for cosy nights in, and a dinning room that opens on to the brookside terrace for warm evening dinning. Note: children need supervision in the garden due to the brook.
You will be welcomed to Dalemore Cottage with a basket that includes homemade bread, cookies and local free range eggs. The cottage is set in its own south facing grounds in a tranquil position overlooking open fields, there are numerous spots to sit and relax after a hard days walking listening to Hoo Book as it bubbles past the back terrace. The garden is on several levels with a narrow bridge over the brook so children do require constant supervision.
Dalemore Cottage is nestled at the bottom of the traditional Peak District village of Butterton, overlooking the unusual village ford that runs along the cobbled lane. The village is home to the Black Lion Inn a thriving local pub serving great food and a rotation of excellent beers. Butterton overlooks the Manifold Valley and the disused Leek and Manifold light railway, a favourite for low level, traffic free walking and cycling. For the more adventurous we are near to the Roaches a renowned rocky ridge popular with walkers, fell runners and climbers. Butterton is within easy reach of Alton Towers, Ashbourne gate way to the Peaks, Leek, Buxton, Bakewell and Chatsworth House.
  • Dalmore cottage is set in a lovely quiet location by a small stream and surrounded by green fields. The cottage itself is very comfortable with plenty of space for four adults and has everything we needed. There were lots of great touches such as the shower gels, home-made bread and cookies. There is parking which fit our two cars with some creative manoeuvring. We dealt with Pru for communication, who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and hassle free. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.

  • Such a wonderful stay! The cottage was beautiful and unbelievable location. We did some amazing walks right from the front door. Chris and Pru were both very friendly, easily contactable and ready to help at the drop of a hat! Will definitely come back!

  • One of the best AirBnB cottages we've stayed at! A lovely characterful, quaint cottage that has been updated with all the amenities you need. The fireplace and heating system was great for the time of year whereas the outside spaces are very attractive for the right weather. Pru was great in sharing information and making sure everything is as it should be. The welcome pack with the basics including freshly baked bread and bubbly made us feel so welcome! We can highly recommend and hoping to be back in the summer.

  • Dalemore Cottage is so magical, such a beautiful place with amazing surroundings. The 4 of us had a wonderful stay, the cottage had everything we needed, it’s very comfortable, clean and tidy. We were welcomed with a loaf of delicious homemade bread and cookies and extra items to get us by. We will definitely book this cottage again and recommend it to anyone else.

  • Dalemore is wonderful - a proper English country cottage next to a beautiful brook in a lovely village. Fantastic kitchen, solid furniture (very comfortable beds!) and stylish touches meant it was a lovely place to stay for a long weekend, despite us cooinciding with Storm Denis! Pru is a fabulous host, very quick communication, lots of great local knowledge and kindly sent us on clothes we'd left behind. Highly recommend!
