City advice

Getting around

A car is required to explore Whangarei Heads

A car is a must if you wish to explore. Whangarei Heads is a 'No Exit' road which ultimately leads to Ocean Beach. This is roughly a 20 minute drive from Parua Bay Village. You need to turn right for this route when you see a sign for McLeod Bay. However, carrying straight on through Parua Bay will take you to Patua South. A lovely beach walk awaits you and it is great for kayaking
What to pack

Comfortable walking shoes, water, sunscreen

Even on windy days the sun's rays are very strong. Sunscreen is an absolute must with plenty of water.
Book before you go

Make reservations

I would advise making a reservation especially for Parua Bay Tavern in the busy season
