Walking, cycling and sightseeing

We are only a mile from Caradon Hill and it offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Enjoy a walk around the hill on the old mining railroad path, and explore the local mining heritage. A walk or ride along the path also leads to Minions, Cheesewring and beyond to Bodmin Moor and it's tors. You're more than likely to see sheep, cattle, horses and buzzards. For the more adventurous there are several mountain biking trails and wild swimming spots.

A great place to visit all year round and great as part of a long walk from Caradon Hill. There is a circular route from either car park and which is great for waking, running and mountain biking. The old path from the mining railway extends further beyond the Cheesewring to give access to Bodmin Moor via Sharptor and then Bearah Tor and Killmar Tor if you're looking for longer treks.

Great all round attraction. Some great walks in the grounds or visit the country house and gardens. From the main carpark there are also plenty of easy (blue) mountain bike trails. A good cafe and play area near the main carpark and another good cafe down the hill near the main house.

Some lovely walks near the river next to the carpark but these can get very busy. Although a steep climb it is well worth climbing to the top of the hill where the fort used to be.
