Conklingville Dam is a popular destination. There is a small park there, and visitors can access the lake from there. We like to take our tubes there and ride them down to the dam. There's a gentle current there, so it's like a natural lazy river ride.

Don't miss
You may really enjoy the town park 1/4 mile down the road
It has excellent amenities including boat launch, picnic areas with grills, plenty of parking, nice flat land and paved walkways that are free from obstruction along with access to the lake. We bought our home nearby because of the great times we've enjoyed at the park.
Getting around
Watch your step while down at the lake.
This is a mountainous region with rocky/hilly terrain that is moderately difficult to navigate. Guests should stay on the main path when visiting the lake and using amenities. We have an access permit to the lake, but our ability to modify /improve the terrain is constrained by the regulatory board and Adirondack Park regulations. Please consider the Town Park facilities which are only a quarter mile away as an excellent alternative. The park has many amenities and the terrain there is easy to safely navigate. Our primary goal is your safety.
What to pack
Bring sturdy water shoes for all members of your family.
These are great for walking down to the lake and for any water activities. Avoid the kind that will let excess sand in your shoes. Grab your fishing gear, hiking boots, swim suits, sun screen, hats, sun glasses, kayaks, water toys, whatever floats your boat and …
REST, RELAX AND HAVE A GREAT TIME :-)

You may want to bring a sweatshirt or light jacket.
The evenings can get a little cool, beginning in August. Better to have one just in case you need it.

Deer and turkey stop by for breakfast most mornings, but you may have to get up early to see them. They may stop by during the day or at dinner too.

Check out the sunrise, sunsets and moonlight
Sunrise is stunning! Boaters can enjoy fabulous sunsets from the lake too. My favorite is when you catch the moonlight glimmering on the lake, especially during a full moon. These are a photographers paradise.
