The Elderwood is our favorite spot in downtown Visalia. It sits on the rooftop of the Darling Hotel. It has great food and drinks! We love to go here for anniversaries, birthdays, etc. Reservations need to be made sometimes days (or weeks) in advance.

It takes 45 minutes to get to the park entrance and about 1 1/2 hours on the Generals Highway to General Sherman. On the drive, you will pass Lake Kaweah, Three Rivers, Hospital Rock, Moro Rock, General Sherman, Lodgepole, etc.

When in Kings Canyon during the summer, our family loves spending the afternoon at Hume Lake. They have a huge youth and family camp there, but the lake is open to the public. There's swimming, stand up paddle board and boat rentals and a burger place with yummy milkshakes.
