Iconic ground floor restaurant in the National Hotel looking over Red Square, serving excellent Russian cuisine. Operates 24/7 but very difficult to get a table at short notice. Great menu, reasonable prices. Do not mention its your birthday since all the waitresses will sing to you and light fireworks.

Next to Barashka there is a Lucky Noodles. At the back of the noodle bar there is a face control on the right. Big smile and you can go downstairs into Mendeleev's, possibly the best cocktail bar in Moscow. It's in a vaulted cavern with a dance floor. Tough walking out into the sunlight at 5am....

Some very good live music on our street in a courtyard. Music usually from 8 to 10PM due to local residents. Chilled out, free entry.
