The Pickleball Museum The sport of pickleball began on a summer afternoon in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, Washington, when a local congressman and his friends picked up some ping-pong paddles and started to bat around a perforated ball on an old badminton court. From its humble beginnings, pickleball has grown to become one of the fastest-growing sports in the U.S. You can find out the whole story and a whole lot more at Kent’s Pickleball Museum. Stop in to see original equipment from the 1960s and learn about pickleball pioneers. The museum is tucked inside Pickleball Station, the region’s only indoor pickleball court. Along with the museum, the 18,000-foot-facility features four courts and a large pro shop.

Nothing says Pacific Northwest delicious quite like Duke’s. And there’s nothing quite like a bowl of their famous all-natural chowder paired with warm sourdough bread—except maybe the 100 percent grass-fed beef cheeseburgers. You may want to stay through dinner.
