Your Ruter ticket will not only take you around the city - but let's you access the ferries departing from Vippetangen to islands like Hovedøya (the biggest), Gressholmen, Nakholmen, and more in summertime. Just bring your bathing suit, a towel and pick an island. PS! Remember drinks/water/toilet paper and food - as the selection is none/limited on several of the islands.

Pointing out one place to go in the enourmous "Oslomarka" is almost impossible. However, if you're not that experienced in hiking/cross-country skiing/trail biking but want to give it a shot, taking the metro to Sognsvann and stroll around there (or go for a run around the water), or walking/skiing further on to idyllic Ullevålseter for a waffle and some coffee is both manageble and very recreational. Make sure to bring water and some food, and to check if your destination is open if you plan on visiting one of the many cabins. If you want to go to the less crowded spots in Marka, only imagination will stop you on your hike. But make sure to bring a map, althouth the trails are pretty well marked with directing signs (red sign marks winter trail (skis), blue marks summer trails. The DNT (Den norske turistforening) shop in Storgata 3 has a wide selection.
