If you are here for a special occasion this is the place to go. It's the place that really put Athens on the food map. Seasonal menu changes. Southern inspired Farm to Table. They have a Sunday brunch that is killer as well. Walking distance...

They are known for their burgers but the BBQ is the thing to get. Despite being BBQ and Burgers there are lots of great Veggie and Vegan options. Limited hours so check before you go. Very sweet, friendly vibe. Cute and casual ambiance as well.

Happy Hour!!!!!! Really good oyster specials. Fresh seafood very well prepared. Excellent cocktails. This is a regular spot for us. Close to downtown but in a neat, converted warehouse that is home to a few other restaurants as well. Check out Henderschott's which is a coffee shop by day and music venue with a full bar by night. Fun little area to explore.

Theater

This is more than a movie theater, it’s a community hub. They are always showing interesting and beautiful cinema from around the world. This is a gem of a place. Athens is so lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive venue. They have a full bar as well.

General Athens Tips and Day Trips

Athens is a great place to explore. It's easy to get around on foot, car or and Uber/Lyft. One thing to keep in mind is that downtown the meters run until 9pm except Sundays. Football game days downtown can get extremely congested. If you are not here for a game, consider exploring some of the nearby areas. Tallulah Gorge is an amazing area to hike. There's a beautiful waterfall as well. https://www.atlantatrails.com/tallulah-gorge-state-park/ The neat, old timey town of Clayton is not too much further down the road. A great place for lunch is Grapes and Beans. http://grapesandbeans.com/ Mt. Yonah Winery is in beautiful N. Georgia. Approximately 1hr 15min. away. Great wine and I'm a snob from California. Haha! Gorgeous scenery along the way. https://www.yonahmountainvineyards.com/ Madison is approximately 30 minutes away. Charming town with classic Southern architecture. It's a fun place to wander around. Tons of cool antique and junk shops to explore all around Athens. Here's a great resource- http://www.georgiaantiquetrail.com/Region/Georgia-Northeast-Region/
