Sightseeing

Local places that we recommend to visit and not to be missed.
The Great Stalactite is the longest free hanging Stalactite in the Northern Hemisphere, it is 7.3 m in length. Its the 3rd largest in the World and considering the other 2 are pretty much inaccessible unless a professional caver this is a must see when staying in Doolin. A true hidden gem.

Let the Garrihy family speed you over to the Arann Islands on the modern new boat Star Of Doolin. The pretty island of Inis Oirr with its exquisite white sandy beach, Inismaan the middle island for peace and solitude, and Inismorr the biggest island and furthest away with the impressive Dun Aonghasa to explore.

An amazing cliff top walk either self directed or join up with Local Guide Pat Sweeney who sets of each morning at 10:00 am outside Oconnor's Pub to offer his own spin on local history and view points along the way. This is an experience not to be missed offering clear views of the Arann Islands and Connemara in the distance on a clear day. Definitely will blow off the cobwebs!!

The iconic Cliffs Of Moher - probably the main reason most tourists are here and always a stunning favourite. For a twist on the usual why not walk the trail from Doolin about 6km and stop in visitor centre for lunch. Serves superb choice of food.....and of course you have that iconic view.

Pub Grub and Music

The famous McGanns provides first rate pub grub and entertainment. Each night you will find music here with the best nights probably Sundays and Tuesday when Blackie and Cyril play, accompanied by the lovely voice of Geraldine. Throw in a bowl of McGanns Beef stew and you have a recipe for a great night. As Doolin is famous for Irish music you can never be quite sure who may turn up for an impromptu session, many a famous artist has turned up to thrill the nightly crowd

The homely and cosy McDermott's Pub provides fine food and local entertainment nightly. The famous Blackie and Cyril are normally here on a Monday and Wednesday night and in between those days there is always a decent band of local musicians.

The MOST famous of all Pubs in Doolin is the legendary Gus Oconnor's. Made famous by the Russell family this place provides nightly music and lively weekend day sessions, the food is top class and always consistent. It can get quite busy but there is ample table space with a little patience.
