Sightseeing

The cable car (Fjellheisen) is the easiest way to get an amazing view of the city and its surroundings from above. For the most active of you, I recommend walking up (and down) the sherpa stairs to the cafe/viewpoint. Dress according to weather, and be prepared to walk for an estimated 45 minutes up the mountain. Remember shoes with spikes in wintertime. The cable car has a fee, while walking is free of charge. Catch bus no 26 from Snarveien bus stop nearby the studio, and all the way to the starting point.

Things to do

Experience the Tromsø nature from a dog sled! 30 minutes outside the city you can get a ride from one of the 300 dogs in the kennel, and even cuddle with the puppies. I've been to this place several times myself, and always enjoyed it. You'll be taken care of by the experienced guides, and get proper clothing by the staff. Visit their booking point downtown or search for Tromsø Villmarkssenter online

A modern pool and water activity area on the top of the island. Go here to play, swim, or just relax in the saunas. My favourite is to swim outside in shifting weather with a view of the mountains. If you're lucky, there may be a northern lights above! In the same building, you'll find an amazing indoor climbing spot.

Pretty lake surrounded by nature and view to the mountains, just a 10 minute walk from the studio. Trail for walking or skiing around it, and better chances for spotting northern lights.
