If you really want the calm and relaxing environment Trou d'Argent is a wonderful beach to visit. It has a sandy beach lined with heavy rock cliffs on both sides. The place is secluded and visitors can enjoy their privacy and relax. Be ready for a long walk as you will have to hike from the bus stop or parking area to get there. The name was inspired by ancient pirates who frequently visited the area and may have hidden treasures in caves nearby. This beach also offers a very romantic destination for newly married couples.

City advice

Getting around

Avoid ice cubes in drinks.

The food scene is fairly safe, but to be on the cautious side keep in mind rodrigues is a tropical island and some basic things might not be up to the standards you'd expect. We recommend that when eating out hotels and busy restaurants are best rather than street stalls. Food should be well cooked, and eat fruit and vegetables that can be peeled. Avoid ice cubes in drinks. Always ask if unsure. Wash salads, fruits, and drink water only from the commercially available bottled water. Always carry some medication for any unforeseen stomach upset. Lastly bring along some mosquito repellent.
Travelling with kids

Travelling with children. Swimming and traffic.

For safety precaution always keep an eye on your children as the streets are quite narrow and foot paths are minimal. Also as an advice that applies also to anywhere else in the world keep watch on them when they are swimming at the beaches.
