Ever tried duckpin bowling? It's like regular bowling but the balls don't have holes, the lanes are shorter, you get THREE throws per frame, and the pins are attached to strings! Check the web for the food truck schedule!

This location is only open in the warmer months -- the Short North location is open year-round. Jeni's is a Columbus staple and a must-try if you're an ice cream lover! Situated right next to Brown Bag Deli (also recommended) it's a great dessert to take with you on a walk through Schiller Park (also recommended).

Over the past decade, Columbus has added a lot of green space downtown near the river. This is a very walkable area and the bike trail runs through here as well. Festivals and other fair weather events are often located here.

Parks

Audubon Park is the closest entrance to get on Columbus's amazing bike trails that go through the city, woods, parks, and beyond. They have a fenced dog park area, a HUGE rock climbing wall, and lots of green space for a picnic or grill out.

Schiller Park is a little green oasis in German Village. It's an unofficial dog park for those dogs who are great off-leash (no fencing and laws require that your dog be on a leash or within your control at all times -- please refer to the law if in doubt). In summer, Schiller Park hosts a weekly 'Shakespeare in the Park' play. There's also a playground, tennis courts, a duck pond, a circling path that's great for walking, and picnic tables for grilled or carried out food -- I recommend Jeni's Ice Cream or Brown Bag Deli for the perfect lunch!

City advice

Getting around

Lyft and Uber

These car services usually take less than 3 minutes to pick you up. Rides to the Short North are usually $7 - $8 each way.
Getting around

Rush Hour can be a drag

Because Columbus is growing as a city, we often have a lot of construction going on year-round and rush hours (M - F mornings and evenings) can require navigating through a lot of stop and go traffic.
What to pack

Walking Shoes

One of the best things about the location is that you can easily walk many places in Columbus. Be sure to bring comfortable shoes if you plan to do so.
What to pack

Layering Up

If you're familiar with the Midwest, you already know that the weather can change quickly. Layering is highly recommended for the variable weather. Also, areas downtown by the Olentangy River can get windy and the weather can seem very different at the same time in different areas of the city.
