If you're out-and-about in San Antonio, try Brickyard BBQ in the Medical Center. The best BBQ in Texas hands down. The brisket and baby back ribs are exceptional. Ask for "The Brick" sandwich, but only if you have a serious appetite! 50 minute drive.

I know it's a gas station/convenience store, but this place has one of the best burgers around. Unless you're a local, you would never know just by driving by, but inside the 5 Points Market is the "Homestyle Burger" that comes loaded with bacon, cheese, grilled bell peppers, onions and jalapenos. So big you can hardly get your mouth around it, and for $5.59 (or fries & 20oz. drink for $7.29), it is a bargain and you will be satisfied. 34 minute drive.
