You can't visit Cape Breton without driving the Cabot Trail. Do not rush this drive! If doing it in a day, start early and take the time to make many stops along the way :)

A family favourite - Kidston Island Beach! Walk from Cottage on Queen to the wharf (5 mins) and take the foot ferry to Kidston Island. Enjoy the small beach run by the Lions Club of Baddeck. There are change houses, washrooms and life guards. The ferry ride is free of charge, but donations are welcome! You can also explore the Island by foot while there and see Beinn Breagh, Alexander Graham Bell's summer home in the distance.

Another favourite of ours and often a stopping point for us after a day at Inverness Beach. This local favourite is owned by the famous musical group, The Rankin Family. Two pointers when visiting....... 1. There is often foot-stomping live music, so check out their website to align your visit with some tunes from a local musician. 2. Check out the Rolling Cones across the street. Our kids LOVE getting an ice cream there after visiting "The Shoe"!

A cute little coffee shop only steps away from Cottage on Queen. Take a short cut from the back of our place, down the steps to the Courthouse parking lot, and voila!
