Sightseeing

The Beach trail at Torrey Pines lets you walk back to the car on the beach. There's also the clothing optional Blacks Beach nearby. Some walk from Torrey Pines, but I hike down from Hangliding Point.

This is the newest addition to the San Diego Skyline. The park is free and open to the public. Check the concert listings for open air concerts usually featuring the San Diego Symphony and sometimes fireworks!

Strong drinks and fun people, that's Hillcrest. Affectionately known across the country as San Diego's gayborhood, enjoy great brunch, thrift shopping, and dance all day!

This is one less touristy option to see great views. Check out Liberty Station Public Market, Cabrillo National Monument, or the campus of my alma mater Point Loma Nazarene University.

My favorite steakhouse with top notch service and hand crafted drinks. Make a reservation for a romantic dinner or pop in and ask for Garth at the bar.

This is usually my first stop when I return to San Diego for the amazing views and coconut margarita. If you get too stuffed off the free chips and salsa, take the walking trail around the restaurant.

Active Body

This intermediate hike is a local staple. I would hike it once per week during my fit days. Pets and kids are allowed. 1.5 miles out and back takes about 2 hours. Drink a bottle of water and take 1 or 2 with you. There's a lot of areas at the top to take in the views while eating your fruit or trail mix.

Any given day you will catch locals hiking the front stairs, back stairs, and the trails overlooking the water of the Convention Center. If you're lucky you may get caught in the Padres baseball, Rady's Shell Amphitheater, or Comic-Con crowds!
