Sliding Rock is a 60 foot natural water slide that ends in a 8 foot deep pool of water, with 2 observation platforms. Located in the Pisgah National Forest just north of Brevard, 7.6 miles from the junction of US Highways 64 and 276, is Sliding Rock, one place where you’re invited to “take the plunge” down a 60-foot slippery cascade into the 50-60 degree, 7-foot deep pool. There are 2 observation platforms, and lifeguards on duty during the season. This is a heavily used recreation area which often fills to capacity. Persons parking on the side of the road, outside of the designated parking area, will be ticketed. It is suggested, too, that you wear old shorts and old sneakers if you choose to take the plunge. Entry is $4.00 per person for sliders and observers.

Looking Glass Creek, which flows past the rock, is also named for the impressive natural structure.
