The same owner as Turasco's. Great Mexican option for healthy eaters while they use fresh ingredients and offer a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. They also have delicious smoothies and fresh juices on the menu. Their walls are covered in Frida Kahlo paintings and the outside of the building is covered in a beautiful mural.

Ok this is a personal plug for a place I love. Fill up your empty shampoo bottle or cleaning supplies and save it from the landfill. Great spot to find ways to change a few every day essential habits with eco friendly options.

Parks & Nature

Here are some of my favorite spots both walking distance and around Denver to get a taste of nature in the middle of the city.
This is the closest hiking area to my house. It's a great spot for a moderate/easy hike with lots of options. Great mountain biking as well.

Less than three mile and mostly flat walk round trip. The park is shady and features a small lake, playgrounds, bbq, an outdoor pool, basketball and tennis courts and soccer and baseball fields.

This is one of Denver’s nicest and busiest parks and is only a ten min drive from the house. The path around the lake is a flat 3+/- mile walk with some shady areas, bbq, picnic tables and lots of life - pets, roller blazers, bikes, kids, skateboards, etc. Lots to do around the area as well.

Sound like a local and call it “Wash Park.” About a 15 minute drive and one of the nicest and biggest parks in Denver. There’s always ALOT going on here. Lots of dinning options in the neighborhood as well. Get out there in the morning, grab a cup of coffee or tea at Wash Perk and enjoy the people (and dog) watching as you stroll or sit.

Another one of the nicest and biggest parks in Denver situated next to the Denver Zoo and Museum of Science and Tech. Plenty of shady spots, lots of walking paths and plenty of people watching or find a quiet corner for some peace and serenity in the middle of the city. Rent a swan paddle boat and paddle around on the lake or stick around on a Sunday evening in the summer for Jazz In the Park (great music and lots of food trucks).

Hiking, swimming, water sports, mountain biking, picnicking, etc. Short drive from the house and it feels like you’re in the mountains with beautiful views. Entry fee I believe is $10 or you can park on the road and hike one of the trails in.

City advice

Getting around

Let the mountains be your guide!

It’s not hard to stay oriented on the front range because the mountains are ALWAYS west of you. So if the mountains are west you can easily figure out what’s north, south and east.
Useful phrases

Front Range

That’s where we are located. Everything just east of the mountains you’re looking at, is the front range from Fort Collins (FOCO) all the way to Colorado Springs (the Springs).
Getting around

RTD

Our buses and light rail all run on the same system (RTD). There’s a bus stop on Morrison and also at Alameda. At $11, taking the light rail to the airport is way more efficient than an Uber/Lyft which is running over $50 one way these days.
